why does it always gotta be "oh im a communist but not like those marxists leninists-" we had this debate. in the 1800s. in fact marx AND lenin wrote about it: you are either for some nebulous idea of communal living that gets you nowhere OR you realize that you have to start from the current material conditions, and organize, and the organization has to be centralized for it to work and you have to study a lot and also act in group because going to protests on your own is just perpetuating an individualist ideology. they were saying marx was outdated in 1915!! guess what happened two years later. like you can incorporate all you want from feminism and queer theory and even anarchy but at the end of it all. only one line of action can bring about revolution, has revolution as its objective and has in fact done so before. it's marxism leninism. you have just been conditioned to think it's outdated so you wouldn't use the only weapon that actually works! people cant afford to eat and the west's quest to maintain economic hegemony is pushing us into ww3 and you will not use the concepts of plusvalue, imperialism, and political party, why? because the ruling class told you identity politics are more modern?

My unpopular opinion is that in languages with grammatical gender like french, it does make sense for Murderbot to be referred to by whatever pronoun is usually used for robots or constructs. (In french, therefore, grammatical masculine.) Because there are no traditional « it » pronouns in these languages for objects, and while there are neo-pronouns, they are things one must choose for themselves. Do you honestly think MB actually spent time thinking about its pronouns?! No it didn’t. On forms it picks « non-applicable ». When people ask it what pronouns they should use, its honest opinion is « why do you even need to talk about me. Just don’t fucking do that. Don’t think about me either. Just fucking stop perceiving me altogether! »

Thinking about what pronouns to use probably makes it way more uncomfortable than letting people call it what they’ve already been calling it. Making a conscious choice about its identity? And telling other people about it??? No thanks bye, it’s just gonna walk into the ocean now, see you never.

Lbr it probably thinks the only bots that get fancy pronouns are comfort units, and the pronouns are probably shoved into them by humans same as everything else. MB would meet a bot using a neopronoun and it would wish it could barf. Because in a language like french, he/him and she/her, when applied to objects, ARE fulfilling the function of the english « it ». Nobody is saying the table is a woman or related to feminity in any way outside of stand-up comedy; when it comes to objects grammatical gender really has fuckall to do with human gender even if we use the same words. Even animal species names have grammatical gender and everyone gets that there are male and female turtles even if the word « turtle » is a female word, it’s not that confusing.

(I know this is strange when your language has different pronouns for people and for objects, but understand that english uses the same word to indicate if I’m addressing one or many people, and that is confusing to me.)

TL;DR; stop harassing international fans for not getting the correct MB pronoun in english right off the bat. Yes in english calling it « he » or « her » or « them » is upsetting because it’s projecting an identity unto it. But same goes for trying to get a foreign language translation to use a pronoun intended to express or showcase an identity (or even a lack of one!). Murderbot has not thought about it this hard, refuses to think about it this hard -> and that is its only canon accurate gender identity.

I think modern au Zhu SHOULD be the lesbian best friend trope to Ouyang except that its because this man is her pet project and gODDDAMIT she's gonna FIX him she's gonna MAKE him be BETTER she's going to SOLVE EVERYTHING and he will RESPECT HER (she is actively making him worse). She has a whole complex about it and everything. She has based a part of her identity on dragging this man up from his toxic funk and is fully convinced that if she tries hard enough he will eventually come to his senses and be an equal participant in this relationship. They have a terrible wonderful toxic loving codependent relationship that's neither a romance nor a friendship nor a rivalry but a secret fourth thing.

Predictably, this does not go well. The character arcs would be Zhu learning she can't fix a sinking ship and letting Ouyang fail by himself, and Ouyang learning to not be a shit person, actually, and coming out of his bubble of self-centeredness and working on himself instead of unloading his emotional labor onto the people around him. And they should both get to develop a healthier relationship with each other than what they had in canon bc queer solidarity is great and its even better when it's in the shape of some weird bullshit some gay people built out of the corpse parts of heteronormative romance (affectionate and completely unironic)

The Cauldron Witch, as she is named, is a ghost like diety with star motifs. i think a lot of people fail to understand that claire's work at terrasave is not "volunteering" because that implies she does some work every now and then but the rest of her time she's doing something else / another job. claire doesn't have another job though - in degeneration she was in touch with the fda about vaccines distribution, in infinite darkness she was working in a relief camp on a war zone and later lobbying to get laws to be approved, in heavenly island she literally mentions that terrasave now has a little task force that goes to check on sites that might be at risk of biohazard and if needed they work in tandem with the bsaa ( which is what ends up happening once she confirms it is a biohazard site ), in death island we see a similar situation.

the thing is she's not a civilian in the loose term we give it, because in the meantime from code veronica she has obviously either furthered her studies or continued some sort of training she had started years earlier with chris. "claire is a civilian" or "claire always stumbles into biohazards" implies that she minds her business when we all know she doesn't and actively looks for them. but she is involved in the fight against bioterrorism in the just as much as the other three mains, it's just that her role leans more into the political side via conspiracy theories to uncover etc ( and a bit of the medical part but that's obviously more of a rebecca thing )

#i think some fans sometimes don't see how the story has two faces #in the sense that you see chris and jill fight and it's action packed with a bit of politics on the side ( re5 especially )#but if you look at claire and leon it's almost always politics with a side of action #tho capcom is trying to turn leon into a mission impossible type of character so bad and it's so painful to watch lmao #when i say claire should get into politics i mean that with the way her character is ( sort of ) handled that would be her best option #terrasave got fucked over by neil ( DI forgot all about it but alas ) and she cleaned it up from the top #the next logical step for her would be run for presidency but i'm aware that's asking for too much so i stay humble #𝙉𝙄𝙉𝘼 𝙔𝙊𝙐'𝙇𝙇 𝘽𝙀 𝙁𝙄𝙉𝙀! ⎯ ooc

when i was a kid i was really REALLY into fantasy books and comics but interestingly ive noticed as an adult im like. too picky about it? i still read and love a lot of fantasy fiction but while when i was a kid i loved it because of the fantasy worldbuilding but as an adult, 99% i like it Despite it all LOL like ive noticed i prefer most fantasy stories to not dwell too much on magic systems or whatever because i just dont care EXCEPT

except. recently i have discovered that actually i do really like fantasy, low or high, soft or hard, but you need one thing. you need your main character to really REALLY care about some hyperspecific aspect of your fantasy worldbuilding and make it the foundation of the story's scenarios:

either make them autistic and really into monsters or magic or whatever (a certain tasty dungeoning manga that i have been reading recently has taught me this) OR

make them a fucking business major and do real life financial stock market bullshit but like. in fantasy medieval times with wolf goddesses (spice and wolf <3)

#i read the first spice and wolf novel early this year it was so good. so so good. they tried to do a currency shorting scheme #the wolf woman was helping. she was helping our main character play the markets. she was in on it #actually in general i need more fantasy fiction to do dubious things with money and politics. i love white collar crime in my fantasy #and of course i like the dungeony manga because that blonde bitch wants to eat everything so bad. and hes a dog. in his heart #now THATS a fantasy protagonist i can get behind. either be a dog or be a business major. im being mean to lawrence sorry #but he is a business major. this is true. he stares at notebooks that say 'supply = demand' all day #i am so picky tho with fantasy worldbuilding is the thing. sometimes i like 99% of a world but then they throw in something i think is dumb #and im like. come on man. but its not their fault. because what i think is cool is not always cool. i want fantasy to either be about eatin #or unethical financial practices. so. um. OH and i would love to see some legal dramas in fantasy #im sure theyre out there. i should look for em. i wanna see fantasy copyright law so bad #none of my pickiness applies to games tho im a lot more forgiving. theres still a bunch of stuff i dont care about in a lot of games #worldbuilding. but because im playing it i can ignore it easier i guess LOL i dont know why im like this!!!#i swear i genuinely used to eat up any and all fantasy!!! i dont know why im so picky now!!!!!!!!!!!!

like I'm actually sick of being at my grandma's house when one cousin leaves another comes in it's so crowded here and it's not anybody's fault I'm not even supposed to be here and I want to go back to my house so badly I'm constantly having to travel back and forth between homes because everytime I go back to my house my neighbours are doing something to drive me away again. last time I went back 2 neighbours were talking shit about me when I haven't even been at home for a month so all I can take from that is I'm staying on their minds constantly cause they haven't seen me for over a month and they're still talking about me

#basically my sister and i went to my house cause i really want to clear my stuff up #im just preparing to move out because that place is just so fucking horrible it'll be cool for like 2 days then im begging #to stay with someone else cause my neighbours are antagonising me or are just doing bullshit like gossiping about me #im just not comfortable there. and when i had to go back to my grandma's house i heard two neighbours talking about how theyre glad ive left #which i haven't i just haven't been at home for a month. and the thing that struck me the most was these were neighbours ive #done nothing to. i only have beef with ONE neighbour.... everybody else im polite to and i mind my business #so because the beef has extended to all of them even tho i barely know them... im just sick of it i dont want to be around them #i know its because of the last time i was there and the row me and that white woman had but i just know shes been #exaggerating whats been happening for neighbours I've done nothing to to start talking about me #because once they saw me one of the neighbours came outside cause i had to throw something out and just stared at me #until i walked away..... like what the fuck is going on...... i didnt think i would be wishing death on neighbours i thought was cool with #yet here we are.

I love how from the get-go Soma said "don't bother" to Seiroku's attempt at implying he knows what it's like to be in their position bc neither of them are buying That one, yet he didn't have a single issue with Seiroku pouring him sake. He even raised his cup to make it easier for Seiroku to fill it
