f1 drivers as tracks from the tortured poets department: a very abridged and very biased list.
DISCLAIMER: this is all for fun and should be taken very lightheartedly. Not all drivers were included, but I am open to suggestions as well as constructive criticism.
Without further ado:
CHARLES LECLERC - I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
Absolutely suicidal lyrics that should be mildly concerning but all in all very upbeat and makes you want to run around doing side quests. Such as write an album, or open an ice cream shop. I'm thinking this is specifically 2022 Charles when he trusted no one at Ferrari, or mid-2023 when everyone was calling him washed and calling for his teammate to be n1 driver, and then he proceeded to put it on pole in a tractor multiple times and still hasn't finished outside the top 5 since. Either way, I am looking forward how this song will hit when Charles gets his eventual championship.
MAX VERSTAPPEN - Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?
This one is for Mad Max, who was thrust onto the world stage as an untested young prodigy at seventeen, who was called too young and immature and proceeded to win a GP upon debut in a top team, who was called Crashtappen from 2015-2019 and labelled as overly aggressive to his detriment, who was painted as a villain by every media outlet and documentary and DTS episode, who said "fuck the haters" and won championships anyway, who broke records, and made his own national anthem the expected song for every podium. A driver who is fast approaching greatest of all time status, for his win streaks alone. A driver that most others now just shrug about, because there's no shame in not choosing to fight the inevitable.
LEWIS HAMILTON - So Long, London
Ah, the heart-wrenching track of letting go of your long-term British relationship that doesn't serve you anymore. So many lyrics from here I could apply to the rumoured break down of amicable relations between Lewis and Mercedes, the team he won six championships with. From "My spine split from carrying us up the hill" to "I didn't opt in to be your odd man out. I founded the club she's heard great things about" to "you say I abandoned the ship But I was going down with it. My white-knuckle dying grip. Holding tight to your quiet resentment". Honestly, I could copy and paste all the lyrics here and they would apply to Lewis' Merc swan song. Taylor wrote "you swore that you loved me but where were the clues, I died on the altar waiting for the proof." about Abu Dhabi 2021.
CARLOS SAINZ - The Prophecy
Carlos has been delivering some of the best drives of his career this season, but it doesn't matter because he's not the chosen one, he's not il predestinato, he's not the son of Maranello. No matter what he does, he would never have kept that Ferrari seat over the mythos of Charles Leclerc. "Let it once be me. Who do I have to speak to, to redo the prophecy?"
LANDO NORRIS - Guilty as Sin?
Specifically given for half-flirting with Red Bull for most of last season, only to shake himself out of it and re-sign with McLaren, but I have one eye on him, not entirely sure he's given up on the Red Bull daydream, and Red Bull have been open about wanting to get him, if they can. It's all on Lando to stay faithful.
OSCAR PIASTRI - Fresh Out the Slammer
Piastrigate continues to inspire and compel an entire generation of F1 fans, and as such should form the basis of Oscar's song selection. What was the promises that Alpine made him, if not "Gray and blue and fights and tunnels Handcuffed to the spell I was under For just one hour of sunshine"
FERNANDO ALONSO - Florida!!!
Florida!!! is a big and powerful song about being a Shakespearean villain with a History and questionable morals and motives. Who is that if not Fernando Alonso? "Tell me I'm despicable, say it's unforgivable." "Is that a bad thing to say in a song?"
LANCE STROLL - But Daddy I Love Him
Yeah this one is self-indulgent and too good to resist. He's singing it about Fernando btw. Next.
DANIEL RICCIARDO - Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
Someone is getting that Red Bull seat next year, and every name is on the list except Daniel Ricciardo. "As the decade played us for fools, you saw my bones out with somebody new." Who knows what would have happened if Daniel hadn't left Red Bull, all those years ago? "Just say you loved me the way you were" Oof. We could spend years living in the What Ifs of it all.

Chapter 9: United Against the Tide
Y/N POV..
"Hey, Chopper!" I called out, pointing to a distant plume of smoke rising from the ground. "You see that over there?"
Chopper squinted, his eyes widening. "You don't think that's...?"
"There's no doubt. Let's hurry before it's too late!"
"Right!" Chopper agreed, and his bird companion soared swiftly towards the source of the destruction.
As we neared the smoke, I peered down and spotted three small figures running frantically. "There! It's them!" I exclaimed. "But it looks like the Navy is closing in on the other side."
Just as I was about to draw my sword, I noticed ghostly figures moving toward them. One by one, the marines collapsed, their morale shattered.
"I'm worthless, less than a flea," one of the marines muttered dejectedly.
"Hey Chopper, I’m heading down there. I’ve found them." Without waiting for a response, I leapt off the bird and landed safely on the ground below.
As I approached, I recognized the unmistakable figure of Perona, who was currently calling out Zoro. "The least you could do is be gracious!" she scolded him.
Zoro hesitated, clearly uncomfortable as the truth of how he arrived on the island first came to light.
To the right, I noticed Sanji getting way too close to Perona. His usual suave expression instantly vanished as he pleaded, "Take me!" His giddiness was short-lived, though, as Perona launched another attack, leaving him with his morale in tatters.
"I'm lower than earthworm poop..." Sanji mumbled, staring at the ground in defeat.
I stepped forward, taking in the scene. "Yeah, Zoro, the least you can do is be gracious," I said with a smirk.
Zoro, Luffy, and Perona all turned to face me. The moment Luffy saw me, his face lit up with pure joy.
"Y/N!!!" Luffy yelled, sprinting toward me and wrapping me in a tight hug.
I laughed, jumping up and down with him. "Luffy, how are you, big guy? I’ve missed you so much!" I giggled, overwhelmed with happiness at seeing my crewmate again.
"Alright, you guys, Chopper's here, so let's get out of here," I said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood. Luffy and Zoro headed up to Chopper without hesitation.
Just as I was about to climb on, I felt a hand grab my wrist, spinning me around. It was Sanji. His usually confident demeanor was replaced by uncertainty as he softly called my name, "Y/N..." His voice trembled as if he feared I might disappear again.
I met his gaze, seeing the worry and heartbreak in his eyes. It tore at me, but I couldn’t let it show. Not now. "Now's not the time, Sanji," I said gently but firmly, my heart clenching as I watched his expression falter. "We’ll have that discussion when we get back to the ship."
He hesitated, his grip on my wrist tightening for a moment as if he wanted to say something more, but he held back. Finally, he released me, a look of quiet resignation on his face. "Alright...," he whispered, his voice barely audible, before nodding and turning away, his shoulders slumped in defeat.
I watched him climb onto the bird with the rest of the crew, his usual lively spirit dulled. My heart ached as I followed, silently vowing that we would talk later, even if it meant reopening wounds that hadn’t fully healed.
As we headed back to the ship, the tension lingered in the air, unspoken words hanging between us, waiting for the right moment to be addressed.
We finally made our way back to the ship, the sight of the Thousand Sunny bringing a sense of relief. As we approached, I waved at the crew, spotting Brook among them. "Brook!" I called out, smiling widely.
Brook, with tears forming in his eye sockets, waved back enthusiastically. "Together again! Oh, I’ve longed for this day!"
But as I glanced around, I noticed Sanji was no longer by my side. My attention was quickly drawn to Chopper’s panicked voice. "He’s hemorrhaging!"
I turned just in time to see Sanji, pale and barely conscious, slowly collapsing into the seawater. With an exasperated sigh, I muttered, "Looks like he hasn’t changed at all," clearly annoyed but concerned nonetheless.
We all finally disembarked from the bird and landed on the ship. Chopper thanked the bird, adding, "Tell everyone in the Birdy Kingdom I said hi!"
Luffy was already distracted, marveling at Franky’s cool new features. As I walked towards the main deck, my eyes fell on a vase containing the flowers Law had gifted me, along with the note. A blush crept onto my cheeks. "These are going in my room," I said, smiling to myself.
Brook, standing next to me, let out a cheerful "Yoohoo! Looks like Sanji picked such beautiful roses!"
I turned to my left and saw Usopp trying to snap Sanji out of his fainted state. "Not one but three beautiful women..." Sanji muttered, still in his daze.
Rolling my eyes, I turned back to Brook, a teasing tone in my voice. "Actually, these are from Law."
Brook’s jaw dropped, his skeletal mouth agape in shock. At the same moment, Sanji, hearing my words, bolted upright and darted towards the flowers. "That idiot gifted you flowers?!" he exclaimed, his eyes burning with jealousy and rage.
I couldn’t help but smile, nodding as I watched his reaction. "Yep, and I wonder how he knew I loved roses."
Sanji’s eyes narrowed, but before he could respond, I added, "But it wasn’t just the flowers. It was the note that surprised me." I felt a blush rising to my cheeks again, the memory of the note making my heart flutter.
Sanji’s curiosity piqued, and his jealousy only grew. "What did that note say?" he demanded, his tone both anxious and angry.
I glanced at the note still tucked beside the vase, smiling softly. "That’s between me and Law," I teased, enjoying the way Sanji’s face flushed with both frustration and intrigue.
Sanji grumbled, glaring at the flowers as if they were his sworn enemy, while Brook chuckled beside me. "Yoohoo! Love is truly a battlefield, isn’t it?"
I shook my head, still smiling. "Yeah, it sure is," I agreed, feeling a mix of emotions—amusement, affection, and a hint of something more as I thought of Law.
Just then, a cannonball splashed dangerously close to us, sending waves crashing against the ship. Usopp quickly pulled out his telescope, his voice tinged with urgency. "I see three Navy ships! If we don’t do something now, we’re going to sink!"
I stepped forward, carefully placing the flowers in a safe place. "Let me handle this, guys," I said, determination in my voice as I slowly began to unsheathe my sword. But before I could fully draw it, I noticed something unusual—arrows shot through the air, striking the cannonballs and turning them to stone, which then sank harmlessly into the seawater.
On my far right, I heard someone yell, "Tremor Strike!" and watched in awe as one of the Navy ships was shattered and swallowed by the sea. My eyes widened when I saw King blocking another Marine ship, while another pirate ship which had two snakes with long flowy hair, held off the last one.
"Now, why is King here?" I muttered under my breath, confusion washing over me. Brook and Nami turned to me with equally puzzled expressions.
"Hancock said she wasn’t coming here," said Luffy, his voice carrying a hint of surprise. Usopp and Sanji turned at the mention of her name, both clearly confused.
"I’ll be right back," I said, making a fist with my left hand. With a powerful jump, I soared into the air and landed softly on King’s ship. As I approached him, I asked, "King? What are you doing here?" I was genuinely confused, thinking he had already left by now.
"You forgot this," King said, handing me my backpack.
"Shit! I must have left it when I got off the dock. Thanks, King!" I said, relieved.
"That backpack also holds a few extra weapons in it. Be sure to open it when you get back on board now!" King added with a knowing smile.
"No way!" I said, grinning widely. "You really packed it with extra weapons? That’s amazing!"
As I turned to my left, I saw Marine soldiers swooning over the pirates leader, noticing how it was a ship full of women. "Her name is Boa, and those who fall for her turn to stone unless she grants you mercy," King said, his voice carrying a note of respect as he turned back to me.
"She is very pretty," I admitted with a nod. "But I think I’ll be heading back to my crew now."
With one final hug to King, I clenched my left hand and jumped into the air, heading back to the ship. "Fire! Don’t let her escape! She’s Princess Y/N!" one of the Marines shouted, making me wince at the title.
As they began firing at me, I finally drew my sword, feeling its weight in my hand. "Hey Zoro!" I yelled in the air. "Check this out!" With a swift motion, I pressed the red gem on the hilt, and immediately, flames erupted around the blade. The bullets fired at me were instantly repelled by the fiery aura surrounding the sword, and I redirected them back at the Marines, setting their ship ablaze.
Zoro watched from the deck, his eyes narrowing as he observed your technique. A slow grin spread across his face as he leaned against the ship’s railing, arms crossed. "That’s not just some ordinary sword," he muttered to himself, his tone laced with both curiosity and a hint of admiration. "You’re full of surprises, Y/N."
"And now, one final blow should do the trick!" I said with a smirk, preparing another technique. I swung the sword in a wide arc, creating a flaming crescent that tore through the air, striking the Marine ship and engulfing it in flames. The ship sank into the sea, consumed by the inferno.
Zoro’s eyes followed the arc of the flaming crescent, and he couldn’t help but chuckle, clearly impressed. As I landed back on the deck, Zoro stepped forward, his voice lower and smoother than usual. "You’ve got some serious skills, Y/N. But I have to ask..." he paused, his gaze locking onto yours with a playful glint, "Are you this hot with everything you touch, or is it just that sword?"
I smirked back at him. "Careful, Zoro. You might get burned if you play with fire."
He chuckled, his gaze never leaving yours. "I think I’ll take my chances."
Luffy’s eyes lit up with excitement as he practically bounced over to me, oblivious to the exchange. "Y/N, that sword is awesome! Let me try it!" he exclaimed, reaching out eagerly.
I chuckled, shaking my head as I held the sword close. "Sorry, Luffy, but no one’s allowed to use this sword but me. It’s...special," I explained, trying to keep a serious tone, though Zoro’s lingering gaze made it difficult.
"Aww, come on! Just one swing!" Luffy pouted, but I remained firm, giving him an apologetic smile.
"No can do, Captain. This one’s off-limits," I said, patting the sword’s hilt.
Sanji, having witnessed the entire exchange, stormed over with a scowl on his face. His eyes were locked on Zoro, his expression a mix of irritation and jealousy. "Hey, what’s with the flirting, moss-head?" Sanji demanded, his voice sharp.
Zoro raised an eyebrow, unfazed. "Flirting? I was just admiring Y/N’s skills. Besides, it’s not my fault if your cooking isn’t the only thing that’s gotten hot around here."
Sanji’s eyes narrowed. "Oh, really? Well, I don’t see you making any romantic gestures with a sword, do I?"
Zoro smirked. "At least I’m not swooning over every pretty face that comes our way. Someone’s got to keep things interesting."
Sanji’s face turned a shade redder. "Watch it, swordsman. Not everyone’s trying to impress Y/N with their flashy moves."
"You think you’ve got a monopoly on impressing Y/N?" Zoro shot back, a playful challenge in his voice.
Meanwhile in the Kuja Ship..
Hancock watched with seething jealousy as Luffy was clearly impressed by his crew members skills. The Marine soldiers’ reference to her was "Princess" only fueling her rage. Her eyes narrowed as she saw you.
“Granny Gnoy,” Hancock called out, her voice cold and sharp. “Who is that woman?”
Granny Gnoy, busy with the ship’s affairs, looked up with a resigned sigh. “Snake Princess, her name is Y/N. But with her new title from the all-male island, she now goes by Princess Y/N, at least according to her new wanted poster.”
Hancock’s eyes flared with jealousy. “How does she know Luffy?” Her gaze was fixed on Y/N, who was happily interacting with Luffy and the crew, her irritation growing with every moment.
Granny Gnoy sighed, her expression weary. “She’s part of the Straw Hat crew. She has been for some time.”
Hancock’s eyes widened in disbelief. “WHAT!?”
Granny Gnoy nodded, her tone measured. “Yes, she’s been with them for quite a while. It seems Luffy has grown quite close to her.”
Granny Gnoy continued, “Whenever Luffy talked about his crew, he mentions her name often. And every time you hear a female’s name, you become jealous and try to vie for Luffy’s attention. I’ve seen you do it before.”
Hancock’s anger boiled over, her jealousy palpable. She watched as Y/N laughed, throwing her hands up in defense.
Hancocks Daydream…
Hancock stood on a grand, ornate stage, her flowing gown billowing around her. Luffy stood at the center, casually leaning against a wall with his trademark grin. The setting was a magnificent palace, reflecting Hancock’s grandeur.
Hancock (voice trembling with passion): “So, you’re choosing those three girls over me? How could you?”
Luffy, with a nonchalant smile, shrugged. “You can’t tie me down, Missy. I’m a bad boy. You’re better off without me.”
Hancock’s eyes widened with a mix of shock and determination. She stepped closer, her voice dripping with desperation.
Hancock: “Tell me, Luffy, what is it about me that you don’t like? I can change. I’ll do anything to make you stay.”
Luffy’s grin softened, but he shook his head, still leaning casually against the wall.
Daydream over…
Hancock clenched her fists, her expression a mix of rage and hurt. The sight of Luffy’s admiration for Y/N and the honorific title she carried ignited a fierce protectiveness in her. She could barely contain her frustration as she muttered to herself, “I won’t let her overshadow me. Luffy is mine.”
Y/N POV…
“Alright guys, listen up!” Luffy’s voice rang out with his usual enthusiasm, but there was an edge of sincerity that commanded our attention. Each one of us turned to face him, our expressions reflecting a mix of curiosity and anticipation.
“There’s a lot I want to say, but there’s no time,” Luffy continued, his tone more serious than usual. “What you went through these past two years was selfish of me. I’m sorry for making you wait, and thank you for sticking with me.”
A wave of smiles and knowing glances passed between the crew. His words, though simple, carried the weight of our shared experiences and the trust we had in each other.
As we all absorbed Luffy’s heartfelt apology, the Thousand Sunny began its preparations. The sails were spread out, the ship’s coating was strong and sturdy, and it was clear that we were about to embark on a new adventure.
“LET’S GO!!!” Luffy’s voice erupted with excitement, cutting through the tension. With a cheer from the crew, the ship began its descent, submerging beneath the water’s surface.
I watched with a sense of exhilaration as the world above us faded away, replaced by the vast, mysterious expanse of the underwater world. The Thousand Sunny glided smoothly through the depths, our journey into the unknown officially beginning.
“Hey, Y/N!” I turned around to see Chopper bouncing over, his eyes wide with curiosity. “Yeah, Chopper?” I responded, my attention shifting to him.
“That backpack,” Chopper continued, “what does it contain?”
“Oh right! I almost forgot about this!” I began opening my backpack with a sense of anticipation. Inside, King had truly kept his word. There were special remedies for injuries to heal faster, a couple of books about the island, and two small blades that made me smile. These were the same blades I’d used for training with King.
Flashback Scene:
I stood in a clearing on the island, the sun casting a warm glow on the training grounds. King, in his authoritative yet encouraging manner, demonstrated the techniques with the small blades.
King: “These blades aren’t just for show. They’ll help you hone your skills and protect yourself in any situation.”
I took the blades, feeling the weight of their significance. The training was intense but rewarding, and each swing of the blade felt like a step towards becoming stronger.
Back to Present:
As I was about to close the backpack, my fingers brushed against something small and unexpected. “Wait, there’s one more thing in here,” I said, pulling out a small box. I opened it carefully, revealing a bracelet with an emblem in the center and the engraving “Warrior” etched into the metal.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I examined the bracelet, a gesture so deeply meaningful it took my breath away. The note inside read:
“Princess, I know that there will be times where you feel not enough, or that you feel like giving up. Just remember you are a warrior, and you are a force to be reckoned with. The emblem is of our island to remind you that we are always there with you and cheering you on. But that’s not all—the bracelet is meant to act as a protective charm. When you touch it, it can break through anything. We will be cheering you on. See you next time. – King”
As I read the note, a mix of emotions overwhelmed me. The thoughtfulness and support from King were more than I could have hoped for. I felt a profound sense of appreciation and a deep connection to the island and its people.
Chopper looked up at me, his large eyes filled with concern. “Why are you crying, Y/N?”
I blinked away the tears, managing a smile. “It’s just… this bracelet means a lot to me.
Just then, I heard Sanji approaching. He cleared his throat and gave me a somewhat hesitant smile. “Y/N, can we talk in the kitchen for a moment?”
My heart skipped a beat. “Well, this is it,” I thought, mentally bracing myself for what was to come. I nodded and followed Sanji to the kitchen, my mind racing with thoughts and emotions.
Sanji POV…
“What’s up, Sanji?” Y/N asked, her voice tinged with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment press down on me. Stepping forward, I guided her to the center table and gestured for her to sit. She did, her eyes never leaving mine.
“I… I need to talk about what happened two years ago,” I said, my voice trembling slightly.
Y/N’s eyes widened, and her breath hitched. “Sanji, I…”
“Before you say anything, just listen,” I said, raising my hand to stop her. “I need you to understand why I did what I did.”
There was a heavy pause as I struggled to find the right words.
“I don’t want you to think that I was toying with you or that when I kissed you and then launched you towards Luffy, it was just for show,” I continued, my voice cracking with emotion. “That was a mistake. What I did… it was born out of desperation and fear. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing you, especially after seeing you injured and thinking you were gone for good.”
Y/N’s face contorted with pain, her eyes filling with tears. “Sanji, you left me thinking you were dead. I was injured, and I could do nothing but watch as everything fell apart.”
“I know,” I said, my voice choked with guilt. “And I’m so sorry. Seeing you in that state, thinking I might never see you again, drove me insane. It was unbearable to see you hurt and to know that I might never get a chance to make things right.”
Her eyes flashed with anger and sadness. “And on top of that, seeing you with other women, especially when you acted so protective and intense around any guy that shows interest in me. It made me feel even worse, like I was nothing.”
“I understand,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “It drove me mad to see anyone else around you, especially when I knew how much I care about you. Every time I saw any guy close to you, it was like a knife to my heart. I realized just how much I needed to prove to you that I could be the one who truly cherishes you.”
I reached for her hand, my fingers trembling as I took it in mine. “I’m asking for a chance to show you that I can treat you the way you deserve. To show you that I truly care about you, and that you mean everything to me. I know I made mistakes, but I want to make it right.”
Y/N looked at me, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions. I could see the conflict within her, the struggle to reconcile her feelings with the pain of the past.
“I know it’s a lot to ask,” I continued, my voice steadying with resolve. “But I need you to know how deeply I feel for you. Please, give me a chance to prove myself.”
She hesitated for a moment, her eyes locked with mine. Then, with a sigh, she nodded. “Okay, Sanji. Show me.”
With a surge of hope and passion, I leaned in, cupping her face gently in my hands. Our lips met in a kiss that was both tender and urgent, filled with all the emotions that had been building up over the years. It was a kiss that spoke of regret, longing, and a fierce determination to make things right.
As our lips moved together, the kiss grew more intense, a steamy promise of the feelings we both harbored. I could feel her response, the way she melted into the kiss, her hands finding their way to my shoulders. The world around us seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of us, caught in the moment.
When we finally broke apart, our breaths mingling, I looked into her eyes, hoping that the kiss had conveyed everything I couldn’t put into words. “Thank you for giving me this chance,” I said softly, my heart pounding.
Y/N smiled, her eyes still glistening with tears, but a hint of warmth and affection shining through. “Let’s see where this goes, Sanji. But don’t think for a second that I’ve forgotten everything.”
“I wouldn’t want you to,” I said, brushing a stray tear from her cheek. “I’ll prove to you that I’m worth the chance you’re giving me. I promise.”
.
.
.. THAT ENDING THO!!! IT'S GETTING A BIT STEAMY IN HERE!!! Now, when I wrote this ending I had two versions, but I went with this one because the other version (hehehe) Imma save that one for what's to come in the later chapters. Will Sanji keep his promise, or will he prove to Y/N that love between you too will be harder. Also Sanji Jealous really adds to the whole theme. Since he is enamored and any man that he feels is a threat it's game over. Now, for this next chapter we are going to skip fishman island, and move straight to Punkhazard. We are going to get a recap of what happened in Fishman Island tho. Can't wait for you guys to read chapter 10 and maybe 11.

IM BACKKKKK!!!!! So sorry it took so long. Time is a finicky beeotch these days. Without further ado—
Not my gif. Sorry may be kinda short but more parts to come.
My Big Fat Wedding
“Dylan! I’m home!” Y/N shouted as she walked through the front door. She was with her mom and aunts in preparation for her and Dylan’s upcoming wedding.
“Hey, how’d it go?” Dylan padded through the living room, leaving a smooch on your cheek as he walked by.
“Ugh! It’s too much. Too many aunts. Too many traditions. Too many invitee’s.” You went on. It’s not that you didn’t love your family. Its just that they were loud, in everyone’s business, and they wanted the wedding their way. Y/N already broke tradition by living with Dylan before marriage. The traditions are so old school but that’s the way your family is. One aunt wanted you to wear this family heirloom whole another wanted to take you shopping. Your mom just wanted you to be happy but insisted on certain centerpieces. It’s turning out to be a family party instead of your and Dylan’s wedding.
“Does your mom still insist on the centerpieces?” Dylan asked. He wasn’t a fan of them but didn’t want to disappoint his mother in law.
“Oh, absolutely. Aunt Beth wants me to wear the heirloom still.”
“The one with the long sleeves and high neck with no skin showing at all?”
“That’s the one. And aunt Marge wants to take me shopping for a wedding dress but I can only get a certain style.”
“Hmm. Or you could just come naked,” he stated in a deep voice that only meant one thing. He nuzzled your neck and peppered kisses along your collarbone.
“Dylan, would you stop? I’m having a existential crisis,” you laughed. His beard was tickling you.
“Hey. I could let your aunt know that I actually like the heirloom and she would and you wear it.”
Y/N stood in shock, mouth agape, “you wouldn’t dare.”
“I would, too.” He quipped. You knew he was only teasing but you could envision yourself with no skin showing on your summer day wedding and being absolutely drenched in sweat.
Later on— 2 weeks before the wedding
“Mom, I don’t know. Aunt Marge bought this dress, and while it’s not like the heirloom, I feel like I will suffocate in it.”
“Well, honey, you know the tradition. Not to much skin and aunt Marge said it’s absolutely gorgeous. Plus the alterations are pretty much done. Sweetheart, everyone will see a stunning bride,” Y/N’s mom stated. Y/N knew she was done talking about it.
“Thanks mom, you know—“ she was cut off by her mother screaming at her father at the family grocery store. The grocery store has been in the family for generations and Y/N worked there part time.
“cosa diavolo stai facendo?!” Her mother shouted. Italian for what the hell are you doing, Y/N was sure her father was climbing the shelves trying to stock them.
“mamma stai ascoltando?” Y/N asked, Italian for mom are you listening as she knew that her mom has long forgotten about their phone call.
“That was sexy,” Dylan overheard your Italian. Y/N didn’t speak it often unless she was talking with family as sometimes they would forget their English and Italian was easier for them. Being bi-lingual, it was sometimes hard to keep up with both languages especially if Dylan was around. He was Italian and knows Italian, but he didn’t practice enough. Y/N waived him off as she was attempted to get her mothers attention again.
“Mamma?”
“ti richiamerò,” and she hung up.
“Ugh, of course,” putting the phone down on the counter.
“I could hear her all the at over here,” Dylan motioned as he was on the couch, “is she calling you back later?”
“Yeah, dad was doing something he wasn’t supposed to be.”
“You speaking Italian is such a turn on babe.”
“Maybe if you practiced more we could do our vows in Italian,” you spat.
“Hey— what does that mean? conosco l'italiano,” Dylan said.
“You barely know Italian,” you stated, “ I’m sorry babe. I’m just frustrated.”
“What if we eloped?” He stated.
“Eloped? You want me to be murdered by my traditional loving family?” Y/N asked incredulously. If they found out, they would most definitely start shouting.
“amore mio,” Dylan stated, “ I love you so much. If this is causing so much stress, we can just elope and then pretend to get married on our wedding day.”
Y/N pondered the thought. It would be so much easier to elope and pretend but being dishonest would kill you on the inside. The phone rang before you could answer Dylan. Swiping the answer button you immediately heard your aunt Marge screaming.
“Y/N? It’s your aunt Marge,” she shouted.
“Hi, aunt Marge, I know, I have called ID.”
“Well, darling, I wanted to say I have your dress. Just picked it up from the alterations. You need to come try it on asap.” Y/N could tell she was driving. The horns honking at her horrible driving could only mean that she is narrowly missing other cars or people.
“These people out here don’t know how to drive,” she stated.
“Well, you know how it is.”
“When do you want to come over to try it?” She shouted again.
“Damn, I can hear her,” Dylan whispered. He was thanking his lucky stars his family wasn’t like yours. While he loved them, sometimes they are way to over the top.
Putting a hand over the speaker y/n cussed out Dylan in the most loving way.
“I’ll come over this weekend.”
“Perfect! See you then.” And she hung up.
“Does your family say goodbye or just hang up on you?”
“They just hang up.”
“Have you thought about what I said?” He asked.
“Yes I have. Maybe we should?”
Dylan sat up on the couch a little bit more, “you want to? Right now?”
“Right now? Like at the courthouse?”
It was a thought but not one Y/N thought she wanted. Eloping was one thing the courthouse was another. People would find out in this town and then her family would get wind.
“No, silly. Cmon, I’ll pull some strings and we will be back by morning,” he stated, taking his phone out of his pocket. Being a movie star had its perks you supposed. Especially with him getting more roles he had some money. Not enough to quit working but enough to love comfortably. Y/N couldn’t help but be at ease for once about this wedding.
Three hours, a white dress, a tuxedo, and a plane ride later both stood at the little chapel in Las Vegas. Y/N just stood there in her dress, looking at the handsome Dylan in awe. She couldn’t believe she was going to elope with Mr. O’Brien.
“Are we going to go in?” Dylan asked with hesitation, he felt her nervousness.
“I don’t know,” Y/N breathed, “what if someone finds out?”
“Baby, no one will find out. I love you.”
“If you promise, then we can do it.”
“I promise, no one will know but us,” he affirmed giving a soft kiss on the lips. His were warm and soft, like pillows.
A smile played on Y/Ns lips as she stood there, thinking about what she was about to do. What they were about to do. They held hands and walked inside the little chapel.

A much delayed trade that I should've finished ages ago... Thank you @dizzyalex for being so incredibly patient with me 🥺
Without further ado, here's a little story about Sans and Alex's oc, Dolly!
The sound of chatter, the same tunes playing on the jukebox on loop, and the smell of grease filled the place as Sans sat down on his usual stool.
Stars, how he loved Grillby's.
It was his third time dropping by since his shift started. He wasn't a fan of being a sentry, but Papyrus loved it, and he could spend more time with him that way, so he didn't complain. Besides, sneaking into Grillby's while on the job was fun.
He gripped a bottle of ketchup with his bony hands as he bounced his feet on the stool's footrest, closing his eye sockets in anticipation.
"Please, tell me you're not drinking that again."
Sans blinked at Dolly as she wiped the bar with a white damp rag. He was impressed she still had her little yellow flower placed behind her fluffy ear since she opened up.
"what? i'm just enjoying the complimentary drink that came with my meal!" He shrugged, giving the bottle of ketchup a big chug.
"You ate a burger like three hours ago!" She shook her head as she leaned on the bar.
"so?" He licked the back of his teeth, closing his eye sockets nonchalantly, "it's free."
"I will literally buy you a drink if you stop doing that," she said with a desperate tone, clawing the edge of the bar with her paws.
Sans opened his eyes, looking at the ceiling with an indecisive look.
Should he accept a free drink over free condiments?
"nah," he shook his head, chugging the bottle of ketchup again.
Dolly's fur stood on end, visibly cringing at his gesture before sighing in defeat.
She lost her battle against the bottle of ketchup.
"i wouldn't say no to some casual conversation though," Sans hummed.
"Would you, now?" She cocked a brow, a small smile on her face.
"yeah, that way we can ketch-up," he winked at her.
She slapped her hand over her eyes as she leaned further into the bar, trying and failing to hide her wide smile.
"You're lucky I don't have much work at this hour," she said warningly, leaning her chin on her fist.
Sans looked back over his shoulder to see that there weren't that many people indeed. Dogami and Dogaresa were sitting with Lesser Dog on a table near the bar while a couple of rabbit monsters sat near the entrance.
"no wonder grillby went home early," he hummed. "are you on closing duty today?"
"Afraid so," she nodded, "but I'll finally have the weekend off to decompress a bit."
"oh, i'm an expert when it comes to that," he smiled proudly as he pushed the bottle of ketchup away. "what do you usually do?"
"To relax?" She blinked at him.
"yeah," he nodded, looking down at the bar after noticing she was directly looking at him.
"Well... I'd watch a movie or read a book if I can get my hands on any- but I honestly think I'm just gonna sleep through the whole weekend," she admitted, tugging her fur behind her ear with her index finger.
"sleeping is bed-er than any hobby," Sans yawned.
Dolly snorted, resting her forehead on the bar for a moment before cackling.
Sans smiled proudly as he watched her laugh, his smile dropping immediately when she stopped all of a sudden.
Someone who just walked in flagged her, so her demeanor changed back to a responsible worker.
"Give me a second and then I'll ask you what you're doing this weekend," she sighed, adjusting her apron as she started walking to the opposite end of the bar to approach the new customer.
Sans spun on his stool, noticing there wasn't just one customer, but an entire family of rabbits.
"that looks like it's gonna take more than a second," Sans mumbled to himself as he watched Dolly greet the customers and walking them towards one of the empty tables, "and i don't like waiting anyways..."
She was the waitress. Not him.
He chuckled at his own mental joke as he kept looking at her. He didn't envy her right now; running around the place taking everyone's notes. Always smiling.
It looked like a tiring job.
Speaking of which, he realised he really should get back to his station.
He sighed, giving the bottle of ketchup on the bar one last look before hopping off his stool, leaving it spinning for a second as he made his way out of Grillby's.
Part of him hoped Dolly would notice him leaving, but she was focused on one of the little rabbits. She pointing at something on the menu, reading it out loud for them.
That also reminded him he should head home and read Papyrus his bedtime story as well.
He shrugged, sticking his hands into his pockets as he pushed the door open with his shoulder, walking down the two little steps before landing on soft, white snow.
It was quite late, not that it didn't look like it thanks to the lack of sunlight. Or starlight. It was always dark in Snowdin.
Sans hummed along with the song playing at Grillby's as he backed home, even when he was too far to hear it.
...
It didn't take long for him to make Papyrus fall asleep, but he lingered around his bedroom for a moment, enjoying the peaceful sound of him breathing before heading back out of the house.
He decided not to teleport to his post. He would do that on his way back. He stretched his arms above his head, the sound of his bones popping filling the silence amongst the quiet neighbourhood.
As he got closer to Grillby's again, he heard the sound of music. A different tune in fact. He was surprised the jukebox was still going, he thought the tabern would've been closed by now.
He walked past it slowly, paying attention to the silhouettes moving around through the glass bricks. He was 90% sure Dolly and someone else were dancing, and by the sound of it, people were cheering them on.
He closed his eye sockets as he kept walking away, listening to the song as he kept walking, a shy smile on his face.
He was tempted to go back to Grillby's, but he decided against it and teleported to his post.
It was so quiet now compared to a couple of seconds ago. He was almost thankful for having some peace and quiet, but then he realised he was alone with his thoughts.
Which he didn't like very much.
He eyed the thick wooden door as he pondered if he should knock on it or not.
Welp, he needed someone to talk to, so he might as well try to start some conversation with someone.
He teleported right next to the door, leaning his back against it.
"knock, knock," he grinned as he rested his head close to the door frame.
But nobody answered.
He sighed, giving the dark, plain ceiling a look with disappointed eyes.
"i should just head home," he groaned, massaging his nape while he kicked the snow over his slippers.
The walk back to Snowdin was peaceful. Quiet, as usual, but surprisingly cathartic.
He skipped through his brother's puzzles with ease, avoiding all the little traps he had become so used to since he helped him build them.
Once he arrived to the flashy Snowdin sign, he realised the silence kept lingering. All the business were closed already, but he could see Grillby's lights still shining through its windows.
"weird," he squinted his eye sockets as he walked closer to it, noticing someone was still in there while no sound was coming from inside. Not even the jukebox.
He stopped on his tracks when he heard the little bell above the door ringing, followed by a quiet groan.
"It's so cold!"
Sans eyed Dolly's breath, turning into faint little white clouds every time she huffed while locking Grillby's front door
"you seem happy."
She jumped, turning around to see Sans standing right beside the steps.
"You scared me!"
"since when am i scary?" Sans tilted his head, smiling.
"I just didn't expect you back at this hour," she hissed as she looked at the keys she was holding, wondering if she should ask him if he wants another drink or just lock the establishment all together.
She was tired. Her shift had been too long and she had been dancing for the last hour or so.
"you seem drunk," Sans pointed out, noticing her hesitation. "want me to walk you home so you can get there safely?"
"I'm not drunk," Dolly just shook her head, chuffing as she locked the door. Maybe she was a little bit tipsy. She allowed herself to drink a couple of shots after the last few clients lured her into it, but that was it.
She was a former royal guard. She didn't need anyone's help.
She turned around, raising a brow at him as she smiled with confidence, "And do I look like I need HEL--"
Sans took a step back, avoiding her kicking him as she slipped through the step on her ass.
It was clear now that someone had spilled something and it froze, making the surface slippery.
Dolly only wished she hadn't said that right before tripping.
"i-cy..." Sans nodded slowly, trying his hardest not to laugh, "is that a trick question or...?" He offered her a hand.
She didn't even want to look up at his grin, too embarrassed to even accept his help.
"even if you don't need my help we're headed towards the same direction," Sans chuffed as she stood up, slapping the dirt off her clothes with her hands.
"Sure," she cleared her throat, feeling her blood through her cheeks as she blushed, "if you're set on that," she shrugged, still avoiding eye contact with him.
"just so i can arrive safe and sound," Sans winked at her.
"Right," she chuckled, "I'll make sure of that."
The two of them started walking without saying another word. Dolly was surprised by how quiet Sans was. He was looking at the dark ceiling, his neck completely stretched.
"What're you looking at?" She asked curious, following his line of sight.
"oh, you know," he shrugged his shoulders, "just practicing for when we get to the surface."
"I can't wait to see the stars," she smiled, still looking at the dark rocks above their heads. "I wonder what they look like."
"they're shiny balls of hot gas," Sans hummed, "they're-"
"That sounds... not pretty," she looked at Sans with her wide eyes and her ears pulled. "I thought they were made of magic or something!"
Sans snorted, laughing in earnest as he looked at her, "they're really far away, you don't have to worry about them."
"Right," she gulped, hugging her arms as she kept walking.
"you should read about them," Sans tilted his head to the side as he looked at her. "they have some great books about astronomy in the librarby."
"I'll keep that in mind," she yawned, "but I think-"
Sans stopped on his tracks as Dolly started slipping on a big frozen puddle, fighting with her own legs before giving up and falling on her ass.
Again.
Sans could've probably prevented it, but he didn't.
"you should know, walking over ice is very whiskey."
She groaned, tilting her head back to look at the dark ceiling, "I am not drunk!" She whined.
"here," Sans approached her, giving her a hand.
She accepted it with whatever little dignity she had left, and stood up leaning on him to avoid slipping again.
"no thank you?" Sans raised a brow bone.
"Just know..." She sighed, preparing herself for what she was about to say, "that you're thank-tastic."
"..." Sans stared at her.
"Was it that bad...?" She asked hesitantly.
Sans finally bursted out laughing, even resting his hands on his knees as he bent over.
Dolly smiled proudly, interlocking her fingers behind her back as she stretched her arms.
Sans kept giggling to himself as they finally reached the point where Dolly had to take a turn to get home. It was time for them to part ways.
"Well," she started, looking at Sans with a shy smile, "thanks for..."
What was she thanking him for, again? He barely protected her from her own clumsiness.
"teaching you how to be funny?" Sans offered, a shit eating grin plastered on his face.
"Yeah," she snorted, rolling her eyes at that.
She was already funny before meeting him.
He turned around, looking back at her over his shoulder, "see you on monday?"
She sighed, trying to ignore that she needed to work again next week before nodding at him with a sincere smile. "Goodnight, Sans."
Sans winked at her before looking ahead and continuing his walk. He kept humming the same tune until he finally reached his home, but even then he was still thinking about the next Monday.

can I have some Storyshift head canons? It can be about anyone, but mainly focused on Chara, Asriel, King sans and some locations
Sorry it took me a while, but I was crazy busy the past few days. Regardless, you guys can always request headcanons. Short fics too if you guys feel like it, but I will get to those likely after the Christmas break.
Without further ado, storyshift headcanons time:
A big headcanon for me regarding Storishift!Asriel is that, unlike Papyrus in the original game, he would kill Frisk if they went down the genocide route. If I remember correctly, a big thing about Storyshift was that the characters' personalities were unchanged, only their roles were swapped around. And, while Asriel himself was never particularly violent in the game (literally holding Chara back from murdering the humans who were hurting them) Flowey was, and he still is part of Asriel. So yeah, he would not kill Frisk in any other case, but if they chose to go down the genocide path he'd show them that he's also willing to be merciless when needed.
In the Frosted Fields, the gentle snow from the Snowdin area in the original game is replaced with violent hail. So it goes without saying that the buildings in Flurriville are built to be quite sturdy, with metal roofs to resist this particularly nasty weather. The monsters found in this area also have higher HP than their original counterparts.
Storyshift Chara does not have a condiment of choice that can replace ketchup, mostly as they are not allowed in Grillbys because, due to the fact that most people are convinced that they're just Asriel's imaginary friend and that they don't have any official documents, their age cannot be verified. One may think that they're addicted to chocolate, but that too is a rarity in the underground, so no, they really just have a pretty regular and balanced diet.
New Hope is far more colorful than New Home. Have your guys seen Sans' and Papyrus' house? No way he'd let that place turn so gray and depressing. It's a lively place, probably with quite a few comedy clubs. Sans may not be doing great in the role of King (not that he was doing much better in the role of Judge) but hiding his depression with humor and practical jokes is his whole thing. It would be reflected in the city he established.
Wetland to me also looks far more like a swamp than the original. There are several mud pits throughout it that the Player/Frisk has to figure out how to avoid. And that helps to make the chase scene (where you'd be escaping from Toriel while she's kinda trying but mostly purposefully failing to roast you with fireballs) similarly as difficult as it is in Undertale.
Sans also is a far more present King than Asgore is. The Player still wouldn't encounter him before the Barrier, but they can meet some extra lines of dialogue about him being a regular at different comedy clubs, and even about him visiting Grillby's and being spotted near the old ruin door (he may be covering Asgore's role, but he's still Sans, and he's still his brother's biggest fan. Papyrus may be steadfast in his decision, but that doesn't mean that Sans isn't gonna go mope and beg for the rest of eternity)
Chara is a much harder opponent than OG Sans, and they will fight the Player even if they don't go full genocide. If the player kills either Toriel or Asriel (Asgore isn't an option much like Alphys isn't in the OG game), Chara is fighting them. And, unfortunately, they remember all of the player's actions and the fight gets progressively more difficult with each new death. They cannot SAVE, LOAD, or RESET as they are not the most determined in the Underground, so they will die if killed, but they do make Frisk's life an absolute Hell.
Chara isn't really officially the Judge (they're still too young for the role, although they are training for it), they're mostly allowed in the castle because Sans functions as theirs and Asriel's unofficial uncle. They get family privileges. Sans notably doesn't know that Chara is fighting Frisk when they are, he ordered for them to go hide in any scenario in which they do, but Chara didn't listen.
#reinight17 ask#utmv#utmv headcanons#storyshift#storyshift chara#storyshift asriel#storyshift sans#storyshift headcanons#undertale aus#I put in a few extra ones since it's been so long#and also because I did have quite a lot as it turns out and I doubt I'll get to talk about them again

I feel like Arya will have a good ending, but won't she have everything? I believe she will end up in a position of power and helping the most vulnerable. However, I think she is too young to settle down. If that happens, at most Grrm will leave it implicit. And I think she may marry out of duty. The North will be completely destroyed with the long night, and political unions involving the entire house are expected to occur. I think it is too idealistic to think that in a bittersweet ending, she will get ~everything~. I also think he will only leave it implicit because he wants the Stark lineage with the classic look (something emphasized in all the books) to continue through Arya. So I always imagined that AxG would not be endgame for these reasons.
But I'm confident that they'll be friends again. On the romantic side, it's harder to visualize because I don't see it happening while LSH is hanging over them. I don't think Gendry would be inclined to pursue a relationship with her...
i agree a lot with you, but i've some different thoughts too.
i think that arya is going to end up being around 14 years old in ados, and yeah, i completely agree that age is way too young, but then again, let's take a moment to think about how the author has also said this:
He said he'll treat some of the younger POVs like adults in ADwD, even though they're technically young adults. Um… he thinks Arya is "older than some of the 40-year-olds in the book", what with all she's gone through. (source)
and just because the same post has this part in it too, let me add it for shit and giggles:
My friend (who is a big Gendry fan) asked him, "Will Gendry come back?" He said yes, and "laughed mysteriously."
but then again, this is the same author who wrote dany being sold as a child bride at 13 years old, and had catelyn remembering that she was betrothed to brandon stark when she was 12 years old and then one of her daughters got betrothed at 11 years old. so, from the way i see it, arya being too young won't necessarily save her of a lifetime commitment.
i think that i've finally come to terms with the idea that the most that we'll ever get if grrm decides to go down the gendrya route is maybe a "it's now or never" confession of feelings and, if we're really lucky, a first kiss, and maybe that's going to be all the gendrya content in the next books, but also i perfectly see, i don't know, some kind of epilogue, letting us know that the relationship didn't work out and they separated, because i think that gendrya is a first love kind of deal at most.
oh my god, i think that i should have put a disclaimer a long time ago that i'm the type of gendrya shipper that, when consuming jonrya content, realizes that "it was nice while it lasted, but we never stood a chance, fam". like, gendry my boy, go home, wherever that may be, and move on. i'm utterly convinced sometimes that grrm loves his jonrya and he hasn't abandoned them in the overall plot.
about the bittersweet ending: well, i've my own selfish headcanon that i think that for arya this could mean that the remaining stark siblings will end up separated again (i say this is selfish on my part, because besides jon and arya, and arya and bran, i don't care about the other familiar relationships, so it won't affect me that much if that is the case, but it's going to be bittersweet because arya and jon are one of the most important and deepest relationships we have between two characters in the books, and after jon, the other stark that loves arya the most is my boy bran)
i don't know, it's just that my brain has the preconceived notion that of all of the stark siblings, the one who is the most interested in building her own chosen family is arya. (and personally speaking, i hold chosen family in a higher regard than biological family, so i'm obviously biased)
this is going to sound so fucked up, but i also hold the belief that everything that arya has lost (her father, her mother, and her older brother) has actually given her the possibility of forging her own way in life, in the way other women before her couldn't (as an example, you don't need to look further than her aunt lyanna)
and another one of my beliefs is that of all the characters that we have in asoiaf, the only one that i can see choosing to marry someone from the smallfolk by her own volition is arya stark of winterfell. and who is going to stop her? jon and bran? both understand that arya wouldn't marry someone only because it's her duty.
meanwhile i agree that arya's "stark appearance" is more important than people tend to believe; i've never considered that gendry's "baratheon genes" could be an impediment for gendrya happening in the future, and you know, i think this is a fair point to make. (unless that "classic look" stark women carry strong genes and "classic look" stark men carry weak genes, so that could explain why jon has the stark colouring coming from his mother and most of ned's children got their colouring coming from their tully mother, but this is purely wishful thinking... forget it; i just remembered that rhaenys got her appearance from elia rather than rhaegar)
i've to admit that as an adult who values friendships a lot more than romantic relationships because the last ones don't mean anything to me, one of the things i'm most interested in and looking forward to reading is arya and gendry rekindling their friendship, and i tend to believe that this is possibly going to happen courtesy of a big gesture coming from gendry, because to this point in the narrative arya is still convinced that he didn't want to be her friend at all, and you know, our girl is stubborn.
thank you for sending me this ask, i'm kind of surprised that anyone is interested in reading my dumb thoughts, and i've been so embarrased lately about this blog and that i posted a lot of dumb stuff when there's people who are more knowlegdeable about the series as a whole than me.

Mirapa☆Illuminate - Osawa Rurino Short Story
Original work of Teren Mikami and Aifuji Yuu (Hasunosora Scenario Team) Originally Published in: Link! Like! Love Live! First Fan Book. Physical version and digital version of the book is available to purchase at amazon.jp and various store. *the date of this story isn't clear but it should be around Christmas 2023, or maybe early December
The childhood friend is gay as usual. (Mostly Megumi is gay for Ruri)
Without further ado, enjoy!
I finally found a café with a charging spot.
“Phew…”
Megumi let out a breath, placed her pouch on the seat, and ordered a latte.
Thinking about the dying battery, a familiar person came to her mind. A soft smile crossed her lips as she plugged in the charger.
I did a lot of ego searching today. It seems like yesterday’s live show was a big hit with everyone.
As I looked at each comment, I realized that there was no way my battery would last. Even with a portable charger, it wouldn’t be enough.
Still, not checking wasn’t an option, but finding a charging spot was difficult.
A table for one with a view of the windows.
It was evening. The reason she wasn’t heading straight back to the dorm was because of a message on her phone, which was barely holding on at 3% battery.
“I've arrived at the station.” “I'll be waiting for you at the usual spot.” “Okay.”
Megumi wondered if the brief response meant the other person was just as drained as her phone. She decided to relax until the person she was waiting for arrived.
“It's been a while since I went shopping with Ruri-chan.”
She carefully held her latte with both hands and wiped away the small smudge of her lipstick from its lid.
It’s just shopping with her childhood friend. That’s all. Even something as simple as that isn't easy when you’re living in a dormitory. We need to abolish the whole thing about submitting a permission form to go out.
“It’s not a wish, so you don’t need to grant it. Once it’s submitted, it should be automatically approved.”
As expected, there was nobody around to respond to her thoughtful remark.
The view outside is of a boring office district. Dark clouds hovering above Kanazawa's sky, giving it a gloomy feeling.
“I wonder if Ruri-chan is here yet.”
I endured the biting and unpleasant cold until I stepped inside. The fact that I remained seated with my coat still on was evidence of that. Perhaps, the person I was waiting for might also be dashing towards me, enduring the cold. "Hang in there!" I muttered to myself.
I thought of my childhood friend, whose whereabouts I didn’t know. Someone said, "The time spent waiting before the fun begins is also quite enjoyable." That may be true.
Just as my smartphone's battery indicator shifted from red to orange, she burst in.
“Sorry to keep you waiting!”
When I turned around, I spotted a familiar set of twin tails. She was still catching her breath, clutching her scarf and coat.
“Did you come running?”
“Yeah, I ran like crazy.”
“Fufu, I see.”
“I’m sweaty.”
“I see.”
She frantically uses her hands to fan his flushed cheeks and laughing softly. Seeing Rurino like that, Megumi also smiled, amused.
“What's up, Megu-chan? Did something funny happen?”
“Yeah. My prediction was spot on.”
“Huh?”
As Rurino tilted her head in confusion, Megumi handed the latte to her.
“Here, calm down and have a drink.”
“Sankyu.”
After taking a sip, Rurino's eyes widened slightly. “I'm sorry Megu-chan.”
“What's wrong?”
“It's cold.”
When Rurino realized how long she had kept her waiting, she lowered her eyebrows, and Megumi shook her head gently.
“I wouldn't hand a hot drink to someone who's already sweating!”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“That’s exactly what it is.”
There's no need to apologize for making her wait.
She looked tired, so I just wanted to give her some water. That's all.
“It’s tasty, right?”
“Yeah. I was a little surprised.”
“By what?”
“This is the one that Ruri likes, isn’t it?”
I realized it when she said that.
Somehow I craved it today. Now, I kind of get it.
“Of course, I know exactly what to give to a tired Ruri-chan.”
“As expected of you, Megu-chan! The embodiment of thoughtfulness!”
“Yes!”
Sorry, that was a lie. Today was just a simple shopping trip. But I was looking forward to it more than I'd expected, somehow … I managed to hide this too, this time.
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
A faint of white breath rose up into the dark sky and vanished.
“There are a lot of people around this time, huh?”
At night, Kanazawa Station was swamped by people. It's a rush-hour.
Megumi glances at Rurino, who is mumbling to herself next to her, she pauses and asks, “Are you tired?”
“Nah, not at all. I was alone the whole day, so I’m totally fine.”
“Where did you go?”
“Komatsu Airport.”
“Ah... that unusual hobby of yours.”
“Watching planes come and go is fun.”
“Just sitting there glued to the window?”
“Yeah?”
Her large eyes blinked in surprise, causing her long eyelashes to flutter along with them. I found myself mesmerized by her eyelashes. I felt dazed, unsure why, and finally looked away.
Unlike a smartphone, which can be charged by simply plugging it into a plug, when it comes to charging Rurino, it's impossible to know how or what can charge it.
Well, if I don’t understand it, then no one else probably does either.
“Sorry, Ruri-chan. I’m really sorry, but can we head back toward the station?”
“Okay.”
Megumi took the lead, with Rurino following closely behind. They walked through the crowd, avoiding people as much as they could.
“It must have been hard running in this busy street.”
“Not at all! Sometimes my tiny stature comes in handy…”
“Don't be depressed.”
“Like this—crouch down, then swoosh swoosh! Like in American Football, you know.”
“I don’t understand.”
"Hmm. Think of a thief—does that help you to grasp it?”
“I don’t get that either, aren’t you making fun of American Football right now?”
“I'm sorry.”
Rurino was still trying desperately to communicate by moving her hands and making gestures. I don’t get it.
But she was cute, so It didn’t matter.
“Did you take off your coat from the beginning?”
“Nah, I took it halfway off. My scarf was covering my mouth, so it was very hard. I couldn't breathe properly, the area around my mouth started to get mushy when I inhaled and exhaled, which was really annoying, and in the end I couldn't breathe, hahaha.”
Unable to hold it in any longer, Rurino started laughing as she recalled the event. Caught in the moment, Megumi also joined and said, “Take it off before it gets to that point!”
“I didn’t want to keep you waiting, Megu-chan.”
“Even so.”
“Well, I ended up taking it off. The people around me were surprised. Then, I apologized to everyone.”
“So it was you who was making all the noise.”
“It was me.”
While having a casual conversation, they turn aside towards the station.
“What are you buying?”
“First of all, let’s take a look at some clothes.”
“Okay.”
She didn’t have any specific goal in mind. In fact, my purpose has already been achieved. A few days ago, I invited her to go shopping, and she replied nonchalantly “Sure." However, it felt a bit awkward to go without any real purpose. After thinking for a moment, Megumi said, “Today, I was looking for something pretty.”
“Pretty things?”
“That's right! I thought it would be useful for a variety of things. You can use it for new songs, live shows or even streaming” Raising a finger, Megumi spoke with usual confidence.
Rurino nodded, her eyes sparkled. “I get it! Then we have to check a lot of stores!”
“That's right!”
That's how it’s happened.
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。
They were selective in choosing the boutique. Among the many stores lined up, some featured familiar brands, while others were new to her. Normally, Megumi would narrow her search down to brands she is somewhat familiar with and do a thorough search. However, today, under the pretext of "looking for pretty things", she had to do a quick look around all the stores on the floor.
“Wait here, Megu-chan.”
“Eh? Okay.”
There was one store that were both drawn to and Megumi was pushed into the fitting room by Rurino. Megumi turned back to her with a puzzled expression.
“I'm going to look for something pretty!”
With enthusiasm, Rurino walked around the store and returned with several clothes in hand.
“This one.”
“Oh, okay. Huh?”
“Let's try it one by one.”
“Okay, but—”
Aren't we supposed to look for those together? Megumi thought, tilting her head as she closed the curtain of the fitting room. She can see a silhouette visible through the curtains, humming happily.
Maybe she wanted to see me doing turn-around with the outfit.
“Well, if Ruri-chan is in a good mood, then it's fine." I took off my jacket and carefully removed my turtleneck. My hair is a little tingly from the static electricity. With only my underwear on, I stared at the winter blouse Rurino had brought.
It looks warm, elegant and cute. I feel like it leans a little closer to cute than pretty, but I try it on anyway.
"Hmm...." I widened my eyes as I saw myself in the mirror.
The soft brown blouse reminds me of a teddy bear. It has white embroidery on the collar and shoulders. I had thought it might be a little too cute, but when combined with my skirt and current earrings, it surprisingly didn't give a childish impression. On the contrary, it was a nice accent to the overall adult look.
“Megu-chan?”
“Yes, yes.”
The sound of rustling clothes had stopped so she must have realized that Megumi had finished getting changed. When Megumi opened the curtains, Rurino’s eyes widened and she began clapping silently.
“What kind of reaction was that?”
“Nothing, just thought, Ruri's eye was spot on.”
“Praise me!”
“Megu-chan is elegant, beautiful and cute!”
“That’s right!” I puffed out my chest, and Rurino nodded in agreement.
“Megu-chan looks good no matter what she wears, but this one really shows off her curves. It also goes well with Megu-chan's everyday clothes, it's beautiful. The best.”
“Okay, I'll buy it.”
“Hurry, try the others too.”
Rurino pointed to the remaining clothes she had brought earlier. Come to think of it, this was only the first set.
“I'm looking forward to the rest." Rurino said as she closed the curtains.
“Alright, fine. Make sure to take a good look.” Megumi said while peeking out from the curtain
Ruriko smiled innocently and nodded. “Of course!”
Satisfied with the response, Megumi closed the curtain again.
She can hear Rurino humming once again.
Her lipstick had come off, this is 10 points of damage.
“Hmm…”
She took off her blouse and tried the next outfit. It was a white V-neck with cute bell sleeves. The fabric was thick and it looked like it could be worn in winter. It might be a bit chilly without a scarf, or so she thought, but then she noticed that a thick green scarf had been attached to it.
“Ruri-chan, when did you develop such good taste?”
“Did you say something?”
“It’s nothing.”
She put on the top and wrapped the scarf around her neck.
“Hmm.”
Once she paired it with the jacket she had been wearing, in an instant, she looked like a fashion model.
The color combination was stylish, and the atmosphere was completely different from before. If the previous outfit was cute + elegant, this one was cool + elegant.
“For indoors, if I take off the jacket and scarf…”
As she removed her jacket and scarf, those bell sleeves added an extra layer of cuteness to her look.
“Megu-chan?”
“Yes, yes!”
When she opened the curtains, Rurino was waiting for her, just like before.
“Oh!”
“How is it?”
“Megu-chan, you're both cute and cool!”
“I know, right? Maybe I should become a model.”
When Megumi put her hands on her hips provocatively, Rurino turned to the empty space next to her and said, “Ruri's childhood friend is a model, are you jealous?”
“Who's there?”
“I don't know.” Rurino said, replied nonchalantly, and looked at Megumi again. “But yeah, anything looks good on you, Megu-chan. Are you done looking for something pretty?”
“Wait, wait. You can’t call it a day just because Megu-chan done buying new clothes.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes!”
“New song: Dress-up dolls à la Mode…”
“You just made it up.”
“I didn’t!” Megumi shook her head.
Then, an idea suddenly occurred to her. “Ruri-chan should try some clothes too.”
“Since we came all the way here.” I asked her.
“Huee.”
It was the least enthusiastic reply of the day.
“Honestly, I was really surprised earlier. Ruri-chan, you've really improved your fashion sense.”
“Well, that's because of Megu-chan.”
“There's no such thing as that.”
“Yes, there is.”
With a face like a withered vegetable, Rurino continued, "Besides, today’s goal is to find something pretty, right?" Her next words struck Megumi’s nerves. “In that case, it has nothing to do with Ruri.”
“Alright, follow me.” I'll make her understand. Megumi said that with determination.
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。
“Please teach this girl a lesson!”
“H-Huh? What...?”
The nail salon artist was flustered.
“Wait, Megu-chan!”
“Just be quiet and let them do their thing, like how you used to do when Ruri-Mama speaks!”
“Ugh! That was a long time ago!”
She seated Rurino, then grabbed another chair and sat down next to her. The nail artist looked back and forth between the two of them in confusion.
Megumi then continued. “This girl says pretty things don’t suit her.”
“I didn’t say that!”
“Oh...” The woman's seems to grasp the situation.
“Huh? Wait, what?”
“If that's the case, leave it to me. I’m going to teach her a lesson!”
“Is that something you should say at a nail salon?” Rurino muttered.
Giving a quick glance at Rurino, Megumi then winked at the nail artist, “I leave it to you♪”
“Now then, dear customer, please prepare yourself.”
“Ughhh…”
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。
As they left the shop, Rurino looked at her hands, fluttering her long eyelashes.
“Wow…”
“It’s pretty, right?”
“Yes, they are. To some extent, yes.” Rurino said, looking at her own hands.
The design, a soft white base, mixed with pink patterns, was cute and sparkling beautifully.
Of course, this wasn't Rurino's first time getting nail art, but having it done by a professional was very impressive for Rurino. Then, Rurino's arm was swiftly taken by Megumi.
“Okay, to the next stop!”
“Huh?”
・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。
After that, they went around to many other stores. They went to another clothing store, buying clothes for the perplexed Rurino, and explored the cosmetics floor from end to end, trying everything. They went to a perfume store and a bath bomb store too. Megumi put all her effort into it.
All of it was for coordinating Rurino’s look.
“Okay, then, let’s take a look over there.”
“Uh, okay.”
They stood in the hallway on the eighth floor of the department store, where the walls were entirely made of glass. As Rurino caught sight of her full reflection, she murmured, “Wow.”
“It’s not true to say that Ruri-chan has nothing to do with being pretty!”
“Is that so?” Rurino still seemed unsure of herself, and Megumi's eyebrows twitched.
Her natural face was already perfect. Her hairstyle is cute, but her beautiful face and accentuated double teeth will make a hundred people turn their heads and say, “Look over there!” Megumi had always seen her that way.
Now, with the addition of stylish clothes, polished nails, and minimal cosmetics, there stood a perfect, stunning beauty—someone who should shine anywhere without a hint of embarrassment.
Look at her, those unsure faces and cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
“No matter how you look at it…”
“...”
“Do you still need something?”
“No, I mean. Uhm...” Rurino said, looking up at Megumi timidly.
“Megu-chan, is this okay to stand next to you?”
At that murmur, Megumi felt a sense of understanding. She got it.
It wasn’t about dragging Rurino around and dressing her up in cute and beautiful things. From the very beginning, for Rurino, it must feel like an evaluation from her.
With a slight smile, Megumi gave her a firm pat on her shoulders.
“I’ve told you many times, haven't I? Ruri-chan is the second cutest in the world.”
“But, Megu-chan is biased…”
“That's not true.”
Saying that, Megumi smiled.
“I’ve found it now—what I’ve been looking for from the start. Something pretty.”
“Uh!”
Hearing those words directly, Rurino winced. Then, quietly, she averted her gaze.
“Th-Thank you, Megu-chan.”
"Mmm."
After nodding, Megu tilted his head.
“Did you find yours, Ruri-chan?”
“Eh, well, I don't know.”
“Even though you have a lovely sight right in front of you!?”
“Well, I guess it’s always in my line of sight. I didn't discover anything new.”
“I see.”
Even though I tried so hard.
I had a fun time shopping. I’m glad I chose searching for a beautiful thing as my goal today.
In fact, I can’t wait to compose a new song inspired by this Ruri-chan.
“It was fun, Megu-chan.”
“Hm? Hmm~ well, then that's good!”
With a satisfied nod, Megumi placed her hands on her hips, while Rurino laughed carefree.
Then, as if noticing something, Rurino pointed toward the window.
“Ah! Look, look, Megu-chan! It's so beautiful!”
“Don’t suddenly be self-aware like that!”
“No, not that! Look further! I mean, outside the window!”
Following Rurino's gesture, Megumi stepped closer to the window.
A dazzling light reflected in Megumi's eyes, same with Rurino.
“It's the season for illuminations.”
“That’s right.”
The city lights flickered, decorating the metropolis.
They shined brightly, as if they were dancing through the night.
In front of such a beautiful sight, the two of them gazed at the Kanazawa night for a while.
Then, in a quiet voice, Rurino murmured. “Thank you for everything, Megu-chan.”
“Huh?”
“Today was fun thanks to Megu-chan. Looking at the Kanazawa night together like this makes me glad I came back.”
“If that's what you mean, it's all thanks to Ruri-chan for coming back.”
As she said this, Megumi glanced over to her side, and saw Rurino's face. Still gazing at the illuminations.
The pristine expression was different from her usual soft and happy mood, and of course it doesn't have the dull feel of a dead battery. Breathtaking, like a piece of glass art.
“Hmm, I came back because Megu-chan was here.”
“Hm…”
Rurino, who seemed to have noticed her gaze, turned around. Her usual smile was on her face.
“What's wrong?”
“It’s nothing!”
“I see.”
After saying that, Rurino looked up at Megumi and continued.
“The illuminations are beautiful, aren't they?”
“Eh? Yeah. I guess so.”
I was distracted by something even more beautiful, so my reply was a bit off. But Rurino was laughing as usual. Then she spun around and took a step, looking amusingly happy. “Finding something pretty is difficult for Ruri. Sorry!”
Even though you said the illumination was beautiful just now. Although I wasn't sure what she really meant.
“Well, as long as you had fun, Ruri-chan, that's good enough!”
This is fine.

Some food for thought: I am an a Dany fan who supports a very nuanced reading of her that makes most other Dany fans accuse me of secretly hating her (lol) and I also do ship her with Jon because she’s had horrendous experiences with creepy older men and I would find it cathartic for her to find love with someone her age.
BUT I don’t like the idea of them just being king and queen and having a standard fantasy romance. I think there’s a distinction between Dany fans who love Dany the character and Dany fans who love Dany the ruler, Dany the queen, Dany the perfect chosen one. In fact the only way I’d actually want to see J/D played out in the books is them escaping the narrative together and fucking off somewhere (which, regardless of Jon’s involvement, is also the only realistic happy ending I can imagine Dany having that would be a satisfying end to her arc for me). To me it’s clear that Dany does not enjoy ruling and doesn’t genuinely want the throne—she wants the feeling of home and to be loved. I think she’s chasing the throne because she sees it as duty, both a familiar duty as taught by her brother and a divine duty as evidenced by hatching the dragons. I can see a world where she’s able to accept that she hates ruling because violence sickens her deep down (evidenced by her feeling sick recalling the crucifixions and having to convince herself it was just) but being unable to tolerate the moral compromises she must make to avoid violent solutions and thus can carve out a new path, eliminating the sense of threat because she’d be “free.”
However I’m not sure I would’ve considered the ship if not for the show (not that it was at all good in the show but it planted the idea) and I don’t agree with other fans of the ship that it’s undeniably foreshadowed in the books. So I just don’t really engage with ship content because I don’t jive with most of it. Especially because many of the fans get hostile about the fact that I also have positive feelings about Jonsa, although I’m just as picky about what kind of Jonsa I like, haha. Such a bizarre and frustrating experience. Luckily, most Sansa and Jonsa fans don’t mind that Dany is my favorite and that I also like J/D, but the same can’t be said for other Dany and J/D fans when they see I also love Sansa and Jonsa.
Weird fandom
Hello anon!
This is an amazing breakdown of Dany's character! 100% agree with the Dany ending up as Queen of the 7K being a bad ending for her. It just seems like a miserable job to have. Dany has had it ingrained since birth that the Targs must reclaim the IT at any cost and only then will their lives get better. The trauma Viserys inflicted on her has definitely left her clinging to that dream as motivation to keep going, which is the saddest part. She wants the IT, but she really just needs a home where she feels safe and loved (and far far away from the creepy men plaguing her chapters). My only real objection to J/D is I can't picture Jon leaving the North, but they do share a ton of parallels, and I can see why so many people love the ship. And since pretty much every big fan ship doesn't have anything more than possible parallels and foreshadowing, it's really anyone's guess at this point. And Jon is also one of only three dudes in the series (Sam/Gendry) who is nice and of an appropriate age to be shipped with most of the main female characters, so it makes sense both Sansa and Dany fans would want our faves to end up with him lol. I also can't really blame J/D fans for not liking Jonsa, when most Jonsas think Dany will have a villain arc. Like yeah there's bound to be some animosity, but it got way worse after the show since it kinda confirmed there was a decent chance Dany might die in the books. Ultimately the fandom is gonna continue to be at each other's throats until we get answers in twow/ados. Weird fandom indeed.

She likes to leave you hanging on her word
"This is a bad idea," Shaleia says, crossing her arms. It hasn't even been five minutes and already she would like to escort the guest out the door.
Or: how Ken and Shaleia first met. With a little bit of Shaleia lore on the side
@floof-ghostie @punkeropercyjackson @mayameanderings
The library was buzzing with excitement and parents walking in with their children. Shaleia couldn't blame them, she was kinda feeling that way herself. In the weeks since the staff announced they invited a celebrity to come read, everyone was wondering who it was.
"Are you excited, baby?" She asked while adjusting her daughter Kesia's skirt.
"Yeah!" Kesia beamed, the missing baby teeth not diminishing her smile one bit.
Shaleia recognized some of her elementary and high school students in the crowd. It warmed her heart to see them. Once they or their parents pointed her out to them, they either waved or came up to talk to her. She saw no shame in reading to preteens and teens. If anything, it encouraged them to go visit the library to read or just hang out. Their English improved when she read out loud to them.
While he preferred to come in through the front, Ken didn't mind the element of surprise. The task was simple enough. How hard could reading to children be?
"The event will start soon, Mr. Sato," one of the librarians said. "In the meantime, is there anything I can get you?"
"Nope. All good here."
Ken cleaned his sunglasses before putting them back on. He then straightened his jacket. He was glad there weren't makeup artists in his face trying to do last minute touch ups.
"Good afternoon, everyone," Shaleia spoke into the microphone. "For those that do and don't know me, my name is Shaleia and I'm one of the librarians here as well as one of the organizers. Me and all my colleagues want to thank you all for taking some time out of your day to come here."
"We're both very glad and shocked at just how many people we have here. Part of me hopes that a few people will leave here with a book or two, but it's fine if you don't," she continued. "Without further ado, please give a big round of applause for our mystery guest!"
Walking through the door was none other than the hottest baseball sensation, Ken Sato. He smiled and waved to the thunderous audience; a few quick poses for any cameras.
"Thank you, thank you. You're all too kind. I mean, I am the world's busiest man but for my fans, 'specially the kids, I'd do anything. Even reading."
Never had a smile faded from her face so quickly. Shaleia studied the man who had just walked into the children's reading area. Despite being indifferent to sports and athletes as a whole, her knowledge of Ken Sato was vast--mainly because of her students. Her first impression was that of a seemingly cool, if not a little arrogant, guy.
This guy, though? He could kick rocks for all she cared.
"This is a bad idea," Shaleia says, crossing her arms. It hasn't even been five minutes and already she would like to escort the guest out the door.
Rui, a coworker, noticed her grimacing and put his hand on her shoulder. "You okay?"
"Yeah I'm good." Sato's debonair attitude brought back memories she thought she'd forgotten for good.
Everytime Ken finished reading a book, he was rewarded with thunderous applause. In the middle of waving and thanking them, he noticed someone out the corner of his eye: Shaleia. From what he learned, she was the one who organized the whole event. Foreigners weren't too uncommon but an expat? Now that was a rare occurrence.
Isn't that one of the librarians? What was her name? Shaleia or something?
Feeling a little hot, Shaleia took off her sweater before going back to talking with the others. Hopefully no one complained like back home. "Yall doing anything after work?"
"No. Going home after this," Rui replied. "What about you?"
She cleaned her glasses. "Same. I'm probably gonna stop somewhere to get dinner for me and Kesia before we head home."
"You're never gonna get a boyfriend that way," Chizu, another librarian, commented. While she truly meant no harm, she was always pestering her to go out and live her life. Always trying to drag her to a club, a bar, or even a girls trip to an island.
Ever since she moved to Japan and starting working at the library, Chizu made it her mission to get her a boyfriend.
It made her think of Nene, one of her older sisters, th waye she was always trying to break her shell. Nene had the confidence she wished she had, which allowed her to become a model. Last time they talked, she was in Ibiza.
"I get you wanna focus on your daughter and your career but try being selfish for once." Chizu pouted. Then her expression changed to a curt smile. "Oh, maybe you should shoot your shot at our guest."
Shaleia made a small, inhuman noise. "And have his rabid fangirls haunt me for the rest of my days?! No ma'am!"
Unknown to her, Ken was becoming more curious about her the more he watched her.
Once he finished the last book, he bowed and thanked the audience for their time. He decided to stay a bit to take pictures or sign autographs for any fans, which seemed to be almost everyone. But most importantly, he wanted to see Shaleia. He had so many questions about her.
"Mommy, mommy!"
He watched as a little girl raced over to the woman, hugging her leg. It made him think of how he did the same to his mother when he was younger. Was that her daughter? Where was the father?
"Hey, sweetie. Did you have fun?" Shaleia cooed as she picked her up.
"Yeah!" Kesia cheered, swinging her legs a bit. She then turned and waved at Ken. "Bye, bye."
Ken waved back. So that is her daughter, he thought to himself. Looks just like her. Now that leaves the question of where's the father and if she's married. I don't see a ring, though.

Lisztober #24: Betrayal & Resentment
Oh, dear. 31 days are a really long time, @franzliszt-official
BUT: WE WON’T QUIT!!!! WE'LL JUST KEEP GOING! UNTIL ALL OF YOU CAN'T STAND US ANY MORE!!!!! Does anyone remember the ‘Blind Singer’? <--- This!
(But thank you, to everyone who hasn't thrown the listening- towel after 24 days so far. Respect ;) Special cudos go out to our great label, which is still following the crap we're doing here, the colleagues from Jezibaba and Christian, the tireless fan of my other band, who obviously also has a big heart for our weird stuff. You have a very specific taste, very… commendable! ;) And the Romantikerhaus Jena hasn't blocked us yet either, which I see as a good sign. (Visit them! They are awesome!)
And: The opera ain‘t over until...well, you know...and that brings us straight to the subject. Wagner. Betrayal & Resentment. We can't get rid of him this month. But today’s song is not about the arsehead himself, but about Cosima. Dealing with Cosima Wagner is like pulling teeth. You know what to expect. I really had to force myself to go through the biographies again and collect the best-of-root a second time.
The day before yesterday we had a whole other idea for a song ; more in your face, more hate. ‘Let's do Rammstein.“ Apart from the fact that we usually think Rammstein sucks ( aaaaand Christian is gone too ;)): No. The worst thing is always when Lacelove mimics me while with her headphones on. ‘Oh yeah, yeah, emotional and all that.’ You can see where the priorities are here ;) Here, in the preparation for the video:

The fact, that the whole Wagner story makes you want to vomit: given. That Cosima's relationship with Wagner shook Liszt more than the death of Daniel and Blandine: Bad. That Cosima cheated on the sick Hans von Bülow with Wagner when the latter, in good faith, conducted Tristan for Richard: To be expected. But then you re-read Lina Schmalhausen's report on how Liszt's last days went by... it really breaks your heart. (I had already written about this on Wagner Day). And not just because it's Franz. Because it's simply inhuman shit that no one should have to go through.
Another example?
‘Since Cosima didn't want [Liszt's] body in the Villa Wahnfried, it was left in the Fröhlichs' house without further ado. [...] To make matters worse, the corpse began to decompose as a result of the midsummer heat [...] When Isolde became nauseous from the stench, the master of the house lost his patience.’
Did she really hate him so much? Because of what? Because of her childhood or because Wagner was constantly jealous of Liszt? Because the whole cult was really only centred on one god? It doesn't really matter. History will judge you. And even Wagnerians think Cosima is freaky. Manage that first.
Later, shortly before her death, the mentally deranged Cosima kept asking about Franz. She thought he was simply staying in Budapest. You just have to train yourself to forget. Or the dementia does it for you. Whatever, either way. So better remember this iconic and very authentic moment instead:

There's so much disgusting calculation in Cosima's story, the thread runs through it that it's almost impossible to put into words. And It doesn't stop with Cosima. It continues with her children. And we won't even talk about the rest of the clan. Don't even get me started on Nazi-Winifred-. I don't have to - thank God! - not (anymore).
Good reads vs not so good reads.

God, why do we want to visit Bayreuth in the first place?
She's still staring at you Motionless Her face iron While yours is waxy How long has she longed For this day? For the moment when No one mentions you anymore And she falls asleep smiling And dreams only this One dream Everything will be as she wants it to be There is no room for you in it She has often wondered how she can humiliate you The new day dawns only too slowly She loved to see you suffer Now you could see the world Through her eyes. And she falls asleep smiling And dreams only this One dream Everything will be as she wants it to be There is no room for you in it No room Every plea, every lament She has savoured most intimately And shed no tears You were nothing but Unnecessary ballast And secretly She... hated you And she falls asleep smiling And dreams only this One dream Everything will be as she wants it to be There is no room for you in it It was so easy To break your heart And also to take revenge on her husband Her new god She has chosen him herself And made sure That he never misses the mark And she falls asleep smiling And dreams only this One dream Everything will be as she wants it to be There is no room for you in it No room Her motherly love An ornament of German manners She loves it when the children Ask for punishments Her every word A sentence of faith She has no place For all the others

Turkish dramas 🦋
Okay, alright, as someone who truly believes that the world is filled with so many entertaining stories and shows that all need to be explored regardless of whether they're in different languages or not ( and I think that if you don't watch something because you're reading subtitles, you're missing out) I mean there are so many pros to exploring other cultures and languages.
Now that I am done with my little rant todays focus will be in Turkish dramas I recommend.
The difference in Turkish dramas compared to the rest of the other dramas I’ve watched like ( k dramas/ Korean dramas, Brazilian-dramas, telenovelas and more …) is probably just how entertaining they are without further ado my top recommended Turkish dramas
1. Hercai
The drama was recommended right smack in the middle of lockdown, so let's just say it saved me from boredom! In my opinion, this is the best Turkish drama I've ever watched. The storyline was amazing and filled with plot twists and crazy storylines. You'll never get bored watching it for a moment. You end up falling for the characters and getting caught up in Hercai's world. 10/10

summary
Miran is seeking revenge for his parents death so he plans to marry daughter Reyyan from the family who was responsible for that. unexpectedly he falls in love with Reyyan.
2. Adim Farah

alright running second is Adim Farah is the most recent drama, I've watched and oh my soul it's amazing its got action, comedy and a beautiful love story and if you're a big fan of a bit of mystery as well. 10/10 ( second season coming soon)
summary: farah is a 28 year old Iranian woman who works illegally as a cleaner in istanbul and witnesses a crime commited by the mafia her life takes a huge turn
3. ask 101(love 101)

Someone said summer, yeah, this is the one. This show is two seasons and is a gripping story of friendship, love, and coming of age. 8/10
summary: love 101 ( ask 101) is a Turkish teen drama, that follows a group of 17-year-old misfits who set their mind on keeping their favourite teacher in town through a whole lot of scheming.
4. midnight at pera palace

It's so good, I binge-watched the whole series in one go. It's giving mystery, it's giving suspense, and it's giving what it needs to 9/10
summary: a young journalist, Esra’s encounter with the legendary Pera Palace Hotel in Istanbul. When Esra is assigned to write a piece about the hotel, she accidentally discovers that one of the historic rooms is a portal to the year 1919. Thrust into the past, she lands in the middle of a political conspiracy against the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Together with Ahmet, the quirky hotel manager, Esra must protect the course of history and the future of Turkey. But Istanbul in 1919 is a dangerous place, and when Esra meets Halit, the handsome and mysterious owner of Istanbul’s wildest club, she realizes that in the Istanbul of 1919, nothing is as it seems and no one is who they say.
5. Who were we running from ( Biz kimden kaçiyorduk Anne)

Another thriller packed drama, with a while lot of mystery overall you will not regret watching although trigger warning things can get intense. 7/10
Summary: mother and her young daughter Bambi are on the run, away from someone, staying in luxury hotels, keeping on the move, leaving a trail of bodies behind…
Alrighty folks that’s just the few of my fav recommendations !! I hope you enjoy 🙂
There’s many more recommendations 🤭to come

FEA character mini-analyses: black eagles as rebels
Today I feel like explaining why I cast characters the way I did in FEA (my ongoing 3H/EAH crossover fic)! If all goes well this'll be a four-part series--one each for the three houses and one last post for the house lords + Rhea. (I'm sorry Ashen Wolves fans... I'll talk about Yuri in the last post, but I don't think there's much I can say for the rest of his house.)
Now without further ado, let us begin!
Hubert as Faybelle Thorn: let's raise a cheer for everyone's favorite dark fairy!! (please don't this is cursed enough. haha get it? cursed, because he's--) As we all know the most important thing about Hubert von Vestra is his impeccable sense of style, and Faybelle's aesthetic is the only one that comes close. The only major difference between these two characters is that Faybelle is spiteful, while Hubert is simply ruthless. And I think it's enough to make him a Rebel, as the Dark Fairy's actions are nothing but petty. With his father's role being stolen by the Evil Queen, I thought this would add an interesting dimension to his loyalty to Edelgard (whereas Faybelle hates Raven for it). Also, Faybelle's pet is canonically a pomeranian puppy named Spindle, and I wanted to give Hubie a pomeranian puppy named Spindle.
Ferdinand as C.A. Cupid: I needed something to replace nobility as the virtue around which he centers his life, so naturally I decided on the most entertaining alternative--love. In this AU, destiny-bound "true love" serves as a good enough parallel to the corruption of Fódlan nobility. So while he may have some disagreements with Edelgard, he can't argue with her understanding of destiny. Giving him big ol' wings makes him even more annoying to her, which is exactly what I want. ... Okay, yes, I did make him Cupid just because it was the only way I could include "Ferdinand von Aegir Cupid" in this AU.
Bernadetta as Cerise Hood: yes, it does hurt me that Bernadetta's color palette clashes horribly with the RRH aesthetic, but what can a girl do they're the perfect match! Of course Bernie would be shy and reclusive if her father was the freaking Big Bad Wolf. And who wouldn't be anxious having to hide a secret like that in the woods, constantly surrounded by the vicious Wolf people? Of course I couldn't make her as extremely nervous as she was in 3H, but uh. I don't think anyone minds. (We are kicking Count Varley out of the picture by the way please forget he ever existed.)
Petra as Cedar Wood: the only princess besides Edelgard in 3H may be a mere commoner in this retelling, but real queens need no crowns. Cedar's desire to understand humans is the closest in-universe to Petra's desire to understand Fódlan (even if they're for different reasons). Furthermore, I find Petra's honesty works well with Cedar's curse--they're both so endearing for it.
Dorothea as Meeshell Mermaid: we shall forever mourn the lost potential of Meeshell, but Dorothea is a whole other story. Voice of an angel, check. Renowned beauty, check. Most importantly, her longing to be truly seen and loved, check. Let's not forget the Little Mermaid was treated as little more than a pretty plaything in the prince's court, never truly seen by the man she loved. Canon Dorothea fears exactly that. Her being a Rebel is just too perfect.
Linhardt as Briar Beauty: I don't think I need to explain myself here? But... the tricky part about him is that Linhardt would never in a million years be unsatisfied with his destiny. I had to lure him to the dark side with lots of enticing research opportunities on the true nature of destiny-bound curses and succession laws, because of what happened with his mom's story (Evil Queen stealing Dark Fairy's role and all). Anyway, I love imagining him with green crownglasses and the fact that his personality is the polar opposite of Briar's will never not be hilarious.
Caspar as... the son of the White Queen??: yeah so the White Queen doesn't have a kid in EAH; I just couldn't think of anything more suiting for Caspar, both in personality and appearance (a bonus, in my book!). Now technically most of the Wonderlandians are Golden Deer, but like... who cares. Also, it's adorable to picture Caspar having normal conversations with his mom, who is the princesses' advisor, and they're quite literally just shouting at each other. Even if they're on opposite sides of the destiny conflict, I feel like they'd have the sweetest relationship.
And that, my folksies, is that.
Confession: before starting this fic, the Black Eagles were my least favorite house. I didn't understand them at all, but now I am so glad I do. They got that Rebel heart, lads.
Next up: Blue Lions!

Yeah, yeah, we get it, ice ado won’t make any money and yuri on ice as a whole was a big mistake, mappa should just cancel the movie already. Oh wait, they did. Why won’t they announce the cancellation then? Let the fans know that it’s not worth waiting?
Hi! Thank you for the message!
Well, Mitsurou is on Jp TV every month, why won't she announce that the movie is cancelled then?
Until there is an announcement that it's cancelled, it's not cancelled. Clickbait-y articles and internet randos spreading misinfo don't matter.
In my opinion, it's the matter of whether the time to release it is good or not and right now, well... it's not, for a variety of reasons. But the circumstances can change - for example, the popularity of real-life figure skating changes quite a lot over time, but if it's massively popular again in the future in Jp, I can easily see them making s2 right away, even if it's in a few years and release the movie, as well.
Why so many people in the Eng fandom got so fixated on MAPPA? If the people above them tell them to work on something and give them funds, then they work on that project, but if the funds were, for example, cut, then not only are they without money, but also without legal rights to continue - this is how production committees work.
It's not MAPPA's IP and they have nothing to do with the fact that the actual IP owners do not care about this IP (I mean right now, because this can change any time) to the point that they don't even want to make money out of it (the Mizuno merch has shown that they are able to release new merch, so... they just don't want to). And the cancellation is also the IP owner's business. If the project is "on hold" then it is on hold, and not cancelled until they feel like changing the status. But even if it gets cancelled, then it's also something that only the IP holders have the right to announce.

.:(Kill All) Sons of Bitches:.
Chapter 10: (Kill All) Sons of Bitches
Hey guys!
Another chapter, another doozy! Things are really picking up in the Wildlands and in a hurry. This chapter took a while, a lot of rewriting, a lot of head-banging, a lot of staring at a wall while eating copious amounts of fruit snacks, lots of kitty cuddles, but I made it in the end!
Big, big, BIIIIIIIIG shoutout to @rogueshadeaux for her help in making sure everything wasn't a jumbled mess. She deserves all the love in the world and if you're a fan of InFAMOUS, check her out!
And without further ado, here's chapter 10!
----------------
I stare out the window of the jeep as the humming of the wheels drone on in my ears. Thoughts flitting through my head as I watch the seemingly endless expanse of flat land pass. It feels like life was throwing me curveball after curveball and making my head spin. The ride thus far has been quiet. It was that weird and fucking awkward quiet that just makes everyone uncomfortable. Even with Pangolin trying to ease the tension, the short answers from me or Kestrel made it abundantly clear it wasn’t going to work.
Speaking of the bird, I occasionally glance over at her, she has a window down as is currently airplaning her hand in the wind, making it go up and down. She’s pressing up against the other side of the jeep as far as she can go. Aside from the arm out the window, she looks like a pouting child. Not even looking at me save for brief looks. Fine by me, the important thing is that she’s not running her mouth.
Looking at her causes a question to pop back up into my head. It may not have been obvious at the start, but looking back it was clear. Mako knew that the gunsmith she was talking about was Kestrel, but why didn’t she tell me sooner? At least then I wouldn’t have been blindsided. I’ll have a chat with her later after this little outing.
There was also the issue of this “they” thing that I’ve been hearing about. This enigmatic boogieman that has an entire town of full fledged conduits scared out of their mind, so scared that it’s making Kestrel act stupid. Risking her neck to complete a project for what I can only guess is some sort of super weapon against whatever the hell “they” are. Is it that big of a deal? If it was, why haven’t I encountered these things? I’ve been on my own for a while so surely I would have seen something.
I lurch forward as the jeep comes to a stop, the movement taking me out of my thoughts. Pangolin shuts the jeep off as I get out and stretch my arms and legs. I watch Pango out of the corner of my eye as he gets out the pickaxes from the passenger seat and hands one of the tools to Kestrel.
I look at my Amp and frown. It was in bad shape and I feared that if I used it any more than I already have, it would break apart. I’ve managed to keep it usable thus far, but the only one who could truly fix and restore it is dead. Been dead for a very long time…
I walk over to Pangolin as I take the Amp off of my sling. He looks over and pulls out a pickaxe.
“Here.” He says simply. “You’re gonna need this.” I nod and take the tool before giving him the Amp. Pangolin looks at it before looking at me.
“What’s this?” He asks as he examines it.
“It’s mine.” I snap. “Make sure nothing happens to it while I’m gone.”
“Alright, I’ll keep it in the Jeep.” He states as he slips it into the trunk. I raise an eyebrow.
“You’re not coming with?” I ask, Pangolin shakes his head.
“I’m gonna be staying up here to guard the entrance as well as to make sure nobody tries to jack the jeep.” The brick wall states matter-of-factly. “Now, there is one thing I have to stress to you two. I know you hate each-other's guts, but for the love of God, do not get separated and watch each-other’s backs.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” Kestrel huffs, already looking like she’s raring to go. “Buddy system, stay close, don’t wander off.”
“I mean it, Kestrel.” Pangolin chides. “Last thing we need is to have to send the others after the two of you and hope you’re still alive because you got lost.”
“I get it! Jesus!” The bird snaps. I roll my eyes at her childish behavior and I see Pangolin pinch the bridge of his nose. Makes me wonder if this is normal for the two or not. “Get in, get the materials, get out. Short, sweet, to the point.”
“Just don’t kill each-other. I’ll keep watch and if you guys don’t come back up at sun-down, I’ll radio for help and come down to get you.” Pangolin states before pulling out his gun and starts a patrol around the entrance. Kestrel and I take this as our cue to head inside. So with pickaxe in the sling and the bird chomping at the bit, we venture into the dark and the unknown to seek our prizes.
—-
My arms hum and buzz with power as crimson sparks jump off of my arms, bathing the mine in its light. I can tell this place has seen better days, lots of old mining equipment and wires. The old junk, the darkness and the claustrophobic feeling of being enclosed reminds me of being back in the sewer systems of Empire City, looking for sub-stations to power up and gain power in kind. Only difference is I don't have to fear death by water, it smells slightly better and what I seek isn’t a power-station, but this natural Rayacite Kestrel and Pangolin briefed me about.
I lick my lips as I can sense the energy of the natural shards and cores, but with so many energy signatures, it's impossible to pinpoint exactly where they are, even with my enhanced Radar Pulse, and the topography of the cave system doesn’t help any. I look over to the bird to ask if she has any bright ideas, but it seems like she’s way ahead of me on that.
Her hand on the ground, eyes closed and with what looks like small filaments coming from her hand. The mental image of a dog with their nose to the ground trying to pick up a scent comes to mind. I watch her sway slightly and turn her head before opening her eyes and looking down a tunnel, pointing at it.
“This way.” She states, eyes focused on the opening. “I picked up high concentrations of pure RFE coming from that direction, high likelihood of high quality shards and cores.” I blink at her in disbelief before scoffing.
“And how do you know that?" I sneer.
"I told you I have a knack for it, now are you going to come or not?" She snips as she starts to go down the path. “How else did you think I made a bee-line to the shards?” I roll my eyes and follow her down the path.
“Figured you followed me.” I state bluntly, flicking my arms to help combat the pins and needles that sting my nerves. She rolls her eyes. I notice something that I find odd. Very rarely was there a time that the damn bird actually walked like a normal person, preferring to dart and dash around in plumes. Yet here, she wasn’t. She’s actually walking and dare I say… Looking a bit nervous?
“Well, I didn’t. The others sometimes call me their “shard-hound” because of my knack. One of the reasons why I’m the scout of the group.” She snips as she keeps walking. I shake my head in irritation before a devious thought crosses my mind. I know I can’t kill the bird, I need my gun… But there’s nothing stopping me from pissing her off. With an evil grin on my face and while she’s distracted with looking around, I give the girl a small zap, causing her to yelp. I snicker to myself as she turns around and looks at me pissed.
“The hell was that for?!” She hisses out and I just smirk at her, I don’t need to tell her a damn thing and I can see it’s aggravating her. “I’m glad you think that’s funny, you won’t be laughing if you keep it up!” Awww, she’s trying to threaten me. How adorable.
“And what if I do, what are you gonna do about it?” I jeer with a shit-eating grin. She pinches the bridge of her nose.
“It’s not what…” She sputters before looking at me like I’m an idiot. “Look, the Wildlands have few rules, but there is one rule she’s gonna drill into your head just like it’s been drilled into mine and that is if you go looking for raw Rayacite, you do not start flinging your powers around all haphazardly! You use enough to help you navigate and that’s it!” Her voice takes a serious tone, I frown at this.
“What are you going on about, girl?” I scoff as she fumes. “It’s an abandoned mine, we’re the only ones here and even if there are others here. I know I’ll wipe the floor with them.” A puff of smoke expels from Kestrel’s mouth as she face-palms.
“Look, I know you don’t trust me, there’s no dancing around that, but for the love of God will you at least trust me on this?? This isn’t my first time diving into these deathtraps so I know what the fuck I am talking about.” She gripes while looking at me. Deathtraps? Okay, I get that cave-ins are an issue and all, but to be this worked up? Really? I see the bird sigh again.
“Just… Trust me on this and let’s keep moving. The longer we stand around bickering, the more likely we’re gonna be spotted.” She hisses out before continuing on. Again with the vagueness, but she does have a point. We can go back and forth, but it won’t get us any closer to my prize, so we continue on.
The deeper we go into the mine, the stronger the energy signatures become and the more my mouth waters. Whatever the bird was doing, she wasn’t kidding about having that knack. It isn’t just the strength of the signatures that’s growing stronger, there is… Something else about it. The way the energy feels more… Concentrated. Purified? Whatever it is, it feels good.
I watch Kestrel look around, sweeping her head left to right almost like a searchlight. Are her eyes… Glowing purple? It’s one of those things where one moment it’s there but when I blink it’s suddenly gone. I’ll have to ask her later, but for now, we move on deeper.
A wave of raw RFE hits me like a truck when Kestrel and I walk into a large cavern dotted with deposits of crystals and metal that glow with that familiar purple-blue light. I stare wide eyes as I look around, my body hungering for the variable buffet on display. Well I’ll be damned, the bird is as useful as she claims to be.
Speaking of the bird, I look over at her and I see an expression familiar. Hunger. She licks her chops before she does the spot-light headsweep motion. Looks like I ain’t the only one who craves Shards. She better not get any crazy ideas. I intensify the sparks on my arms in warning and she gives me a look that’s a mix of “what the fuck are you doing” and “are you insane.” I grin at the expression, at least she knows she’s on thin ice and is less likely to do anything stupid. I watch as the bird climbs up to a cluster and tap it before nodding and signaling for me to come up. I nod back and join her, the hunger gnawing at my stomach something fierce being so close to just… Pure Rayacite. It’s nothing I’ve ever experienced before.
“Pick a cluster for yours.” Kestrel gestures with her hand as she gets her pickaxe out. “Once you pick, you mine it, I’ll grab it and then I’ll do the same for mine, but once metal hits ‘cite, we need to hust-”
“Woah, woah, woah, lil birdie.” I interrupt her. “Why the rush? You’ve been awfully jumpy ever since we’ve stepped in here and I see no reason why. I haven’t seen not hide nor hair of anything. No animals, no other people. Not even sensed anything. It’s just you and me, so why shouldn’t I take my time? Maybe take some extra for the road?” I can’t help but to snicker as Kestrel looks like she’s about to pull her hair out.
“Just because you can’t see or sense anything don’t mean they aren’t there, you overgrown sparkplug!” She whisper-yells while staring at me like I’m an idiot, I can’t help but to snicker at the bird’s flapping. “Don’t laugh, this is serious! You think the humans and monsters you had to face in the past were a pain, the things that like to call mines like this home are 10 times worse!” I scoff before laughing.
“I’ll believe it when I see it.” I sneer before I walk over and hover my hand over the clusters. Kestrel’s probably bullshitting about whatever the hell she’s going on about, probably wanting to keep the rest of the goodies to herself. Like I’m gonna let that happen. Still… That tone in her voice and the look in her eyes, what if she’s right? That’s not the look of someone acting, something isn’t quite right.
Oh well.
I take the pickaxe off of my sling and stretch my arms before swinging the pick. The metal point connects to the glowing cluster I have chosen and with that strike, sparks fly and a wave of RFE hits me. I can feel my body absorb the raw energy like a sponge and goddamn does it feel good. Another strike and another wave, a manic grin starts to form. This pure, raw energy. I want more, more. I strike the cluster harder, more sparks, more energy, but it’s not enough. This is going too slow!
… Why the hell am I using this stupid pickaxe? I have something much better.
My eyes glow red and the heat in my body intensifies. Sparks gather in my hand as I stare at the shard-cluster, grinning with hunger.
“Cole, what are you doing?” I hear Kestrel ask, her voice filled with fear, but I ignore her. I know she warned me about using my powers in here, but I don’t give a shit. To hell with her nonsense. “Are you trying to get us both killed??”
I feel the energy build in my hand as I take aim, I see Kes panicking out of the corner of my eye and it fills my heart with schadenfreude. With a hum and a dark chuckle, I fire.
BOOM!!!
Crystals and metal fly as an immense amount of RFE bursts out and washes over the both of us. Power flows through my body like a raging current and my grin grows so wide, my cheek starts to hurt, I even begin to laugh. It feels so good! So fucking good!! I start grabbing shards and draining them with a wild eagerness.
Kestrel just stares at me, her face pale with a visceral fear. I see her a hot second to grab 4 pieces of high quality shard and a monster of a blast core. Normally I’d fry her right then and there, but there was plenty so she can have a few, as a treat. I can see hunger in her eyes as she gathers the bits, but fear was overriding it. Heh, bet she’s really realizing that I’m someone who can back up when I say “I will get what I want.”
A cacophony of screeches, screams and roars stop my power crazed thoughts dead in their tracks as I see Kestrel’s head bolt up, if her face could have gone any paler, it would have. Her eyes wide in absolute terror. The noises sound human and inhuman at the same time, the only thing I’ve heard closest to this noise is the screaming of the Reapers, but even they didn’t sound this gnarly.
“We need to go… Now…” Kestrel whispers in a quiet tone, I just give her a questioning look. “You’ve gone and kicked the hornet’s nest, we need to leave before the horde shows up.” Did… Did she not just see what I did to the wall? Did she forget what I am capable of?
“What and miss out on the fun?” I scoff, looking over at her as I pop my knuckles. “Fat chance.” I grab another shard and absorb it before making my way to where I heard the scream-fest.
“Cole, I swear to God if you go in to face those things, I’m leaving your ass! I’ve got what I’ve come for so I have no qualms!” I couldn’t help but to laugh at Kestrel’s little tantrum, showing her cowardly colors again, hm?
“You can go run off and hide under skirts again, fine by me.” I sneer as I wave a hand at her dismissively. “That’s just leaves this aaaaaaaall for me.” The thought of having an entire mine of pure Rayacite to myself causes a shiver to rush up and down my spine. All that power, all mine. Mine to do as I see fit.
“You are. Insufferable!!” The bird screeches before she takes off down the path, leaving me alone to have all the fun. Her loss, no skin off my nose. I’ll juice up, have my fun and then I can gloat when I get bored of target practice and make the girl hold up her end of the deal, after all, fair is fair.
I go back to trekking when I sense the presence of others, it was strange because it was Conduit like, but something wasn’t quite right, not like it matters. They’ll go down all the same. The screaming grows louder and that’s when I see them.
A throng of people, rushing blindly, but these people looked sick. Really sick. Pale as death and emaciated, they made the Reapers look healthy and that’s saying something. They scrambled and shambled as they screamed, looking like something out of a horror film, but the thing that stood out the most to me was their energy, their face, nails, and what dripped from their mouths and eyes.
Their energy felt like RFE was bleeding out of them. Their teeth and nails, more like claws, look to be made out of purple, crystalline Rayacite and the stuff dripping from their faces was the same glowing purple hue that the shards are.
Were these the things that Kestrel was talking about?
I smirk and start blasting, my powers currently charged up with Beast energy and the extra juice, the bolts crash and explode. Making short work of the first wave of the horde, but I quickly notice that A) the concussive forces of the charged bursts were starting to shake the entire mine and B) instead of turning tail and running away, more flocked. All screaming with a feral hunger.
In the beginning, it wasn’t too hard to fight them off and I reveled in the challenge I was given, but over time, they just kept coming. It was like a stampede. It doesn’t matter how weak a target is, if they just keep coming like this, the numbers can be too much.
Blasts and shockwaves fly out of my hands as I move, climbing around and keeping on the move so I’m not a sitting duck. The more I take out, the more husks crawl out of the caverns. Jesus Christ, how many of these things were in here??
They start to get too close, way too close. Their mistake. A small grin starts to form as I pop an ionic charge, red and black energy whirls around me and starts to pull in the energy of the things around me. My grin widens as I expect to feel a rush of power flood my senses, but the smile was short lived when instead of the pleasure, I felt pain. I double over and start to cough and sputter violently, spark popping off of my body. What the hell was that?! I pull out my pickaxe and swing wildly to keep the bastards at bay, but my head is throbbing and I feel sick. It was like getting a faceful of that damned black tar Sasha always spat out, but worse! Raging headache, nausea and my powers wigging out.
I continue to fight, now swinging the pickaxe around to knock heads. I’d be lying if I said that fear isn’t rising inside me as the horde closes in, seeming hellbent on attacking me. It was like I was a light and these bastards were the moths. I scream in rage as I swing and blast. I’m not gonna let these fuckers cut my life short, not here. Not like this!!
CRASH!!!
The sound of a rail-system collapsing and a burst of RFE grabs the attention of the fuckers long enough to me to get my barings straight again and hit the crowds with a couple of Alpha Blasts, my powers weren’t behaving right, trying to do more was making me dizzy, but I at least made myself breathing room. Shaking my head, I go back to swinging. Arcing hits rip into the bodies of the shambling horde and weaken them, but they don’t seem to drop.
I growl to myself when I hear a loud burst and see glowing shrapnel rip into a few of the things, tearing their bodies apart and I see a plume of shimmering smoke dart around and make its way towards me. Well I’ll be damned, the bird came back.
With rapid firing bursts of smoke and slag, she rushes in to join me in the clearing I made and assists in making it bigger with more shotgun shards tearing through the bodies.
"What happened to "leaving my ass?"" I sneer as I fire off a volley of Alpha bolts at the crowd. She turns to me and gives me a hot iron glare.
"Can it, bug-zapper." She snaps. “I hate you and you’re an absolute cockwomble asshole, but we came in here as a team, we’re leaving as one.” She takes her pickaxe and buries it into the head of a lunging husk.
"Awww, well ain’t you a peach." I scoff as we move back to back, surrounded by the horde, but we both see a way out and we both know what we need to do.
"Shut it and aim for the head!!" Kestrel snarls at me. I roll my eyes, but she doesn’t need to tell me twice.
We nod to each-other before slag and sparks start flying and pickaxes start swinging. The bird’s got one hell of a swing, I’ll give her that. She darts and dashes around in the same flighty and dancey patterns that I remember from when I chased her, but there was a shift in her style. She’d put her hand in a monster’s face before unleashing a barrage of slag shards, completely obliterating the head before she leaps off and buries the tip of the tool into the brain case of another. Her eyes glowing hot and her annoyed expression slowly twisting to a grin.
My own pickaxe whistles as I run up the body of one of the things and slam the tip into the head of the fucker, using my strength to fling the stuck husk into a small grouping in the horde, causing them to fall over. A couple of Skull bolts light up the air with crimson sparks as heads explode and those unlucky enough to not get popped get their heads crushed underfoot or under spike. My own face curling into a sadistic smile as I impale one of the fuckers square between the eyes and send volts straight into the brain.
We slowly made our way towards the exit, grace and power fueled by brutality as charred bodies and bloody gore fly. Kestrel watching my back and I watching hers. Making short work of the waves. The fuckers put up a fight, their claws rip into our skin and we got hit a few times more than we’d like, ripping clothes and tearing flesh. The more we fight, the more they come, like piranhas to the scent of blood.
“Got any ideas, birdie?” I shout as I fry a husk. “These bastards just keep coming!”
“Jesus Christ, this is a full blown nest!” Kestrel exclaims as she curbstomps a fucker on the ground. “We’re gonna have to blow up the entrance and cave the place in to keep the fuckers from following us!”
“And how are we gonna do that?” I retort to her and I see her point at a large cluster of shards.
“Shoot that.” She states matter-of-factly before she yelps, getting hit in the side by a husk. She grabs its head and cooks it before throwing it into his buddy that was trying to jump me. “You recovered enough from the botched drain to turn loose one of those missiles?” She asks and I give a quick nod. It will do a number on me, but I can do it.
“Count of three, I shoot, we run?” I ask as I watch Kestrel charge up a strong burst of her own.
“Yeah, Count of three, you shoot, I blast, we run.” She confirms with a nod. Back to back once again, we aim at our respective targets.
3…. 2…. 1…..
I fire off an Alpha Rocket at the shard cluster and the bird unleashes a large volley of shards that rip into anyone poor fucker in the way, making a clearing for us to run.
The mine starts to rumble and shake, causing the horde to scream in rage and panic. We both stumble from the shaking, but we waste no time in making a bee-line to the exit, dodging falling rubble and debris all the while. It isn’t long until we emerge from the darkness and into the fading light of day.
Seeing the jeep and Pangolin was a sight for sore eyes as the two of us scramble into the jeep. Pangolin looks at us questioningly, looks like he was in the middle of making a call.
“Kestrel? Cole?” He questions. “I was about to-”
“DRIVE!” Kestrel barks, interrupting her friend. He looked like he was about to scold her, but when he saw the dust being kicked up by the collapsing tunnels, he held his tongue and floored it. The rapid acceleration jostling the two of us around before we got settled in and buckled up.
Panting, I lay back in my seat and I see Kestrel burying her head into the back of the driver’s seat. We were both wiped out and I know I have so many more questions to ask, but I have a feeling that I may get to ask them soon.
I turn my head to face the horizon and relax at the sight of the sunset colors. There’s a high likelihood that Pangolin might stop to set up camp when we lose all the daylight, but I don’t care. Camp means rest, rest means I can try and sleep off the remainder of this.. I don’t even know what the fuck it is.
There is one thing I can take some solace in, that ordeal is over and now I’m one step closer to getting my new toy. A smirk twitches on my face at the thought as now Kestrel will have no choice but to make me my weapon after going through that hell.
After all, a deal is a deal.
