Okay, maybe I was the only one who had this idea, but anyway. I really like the BBC Sherlock and I imagined: what if John Watson was Sherlock's father? What if when he came back from the war he didn't know he had a 7-year-old son in London? We already know that Sherlock behaves like a child, but now he has a real reason. Imagine a child Sherlock wanting to solve cases and his father John going after him, because a child can't solve crimes! It would be really amazing and funny, I'd like to read a fic about it.

I love the detail in Granada Holmes' adaptation of The Dying Detective that when the opium den tour guide guy take his glove off to shake Holmes' hand, Holmes ignores it entirely, but when the little girl offers her hand and thanks him for helping her family, Holmes respectfully takes off his glove to shake her hand.

Sherlock pointing out to John in TGG that caring about people will not help him save them shows how Mycroft has schooled him that caring is not an advantage, but it also shows how the fact that his brother protects and saves countless people by doing his job has had a huge influence on him.

Sherlock has a nature that leads him to help others anyway, but he also tries to emulate his brother whom he admires so much.

you can’t knowingly fuck a criminal and then turn around and get mad at them for doing something unethical, dubiously moral or illegal that directly involves you. what about this man made you think he follows the laws, is ethical or even moral? you knew damn well that he killed people for a living. how are you going to date someone whose probably on the FBI’s most wanted list (top 10) and then turn around and be surprised that he invaded your privacy? make it make sense. you can be mad at him all you want but shawty the man has proven time and time again who he is as a person. if this mother fucker is out here willingly killing bitches and has probably broken the geneva convention on multiple occasions what makes you think you’ll be exempt 😭? don’t be shy share with the class?

Okay so very very angsty horrible hiatus thoughts

I'll put them under the cut because they mention death of a child/infant and death in childbed/death of a spouse, so please proceed with caution

What if a year or two after Holmes's death, Watson feels like his life is finally turning around because Mary is pregnant. But then there are complications during birth and Mary dies. And Watson is devastated, but at least there is the child, and he calls him Sherlock as he agreed with Mary in case it's a boy. But the baby is too weak, and he dies too, and Watson feels like he has altogether failed Mary and the child and Holmes, because in a way this feels like losing Holmes AGAIN, when the poor child had absolutely nothing to do with his friend, and he almost feels like giving this name was a curse.
