ive got to get into rv darktail and violetshine some more…. im thinking that rather than being removed from shadowclan by needlepaw while joining the kin, darktail strolls into camp and declares that he wants to take his daughter home. (this is where violetkit learns hes her dad, though other shadowclan cats like needle figure it out first- tbh im considering needlepaw specifically tips him off so shes still got some responsibility here but in a “shes clearly being groomed” way)
theres some conflict because the cats want to keep violetkit as a pawn in the prophecy, or use her ghost powers which have begun to bud. but the leader (who is either russetstar or tawnystar, not rowanclaw. theres gonna be a shift there but i havent decided which one), exhausted of the rogues, just lets darktail take her, saying she should be with her family, away from the clans. thunderclan strictly refuses to give up twigkit. this fucks violetkit up even more, because suddenly, NOW keeping her from her family is bad? when this family is not the familiar warmth of her sister, but a manipulative tom with a history of violence, who’s been villainized constantly by her clan? NOW theyre okay with letting her go?
darktail uses this to manipulate her, tell her that the clans discarded him just like they discarded her, how they ruined their family and how they only have each other- he saved her in time, but they cant save twigkit because she’s been corrupted by now.

Of Winter’s Flame | CHAPTER ONE
Tumblr media
What if Daemon Targaryen married Cregan Stark’s sister instead of Rhea Royce? What if instead of murdering her, she died in childbirth…giving birth to you.
Y/n Targaryen, a dragon raised by wolves. You grew up knowing only the North as your home, Cregan acting as your mentor and elder brother throughout your life.
Now you have been summoned to join the court of Viserys Targaryen a few years after the grueling incidents on Driftmark with no knowledge of why. A Stark rides South at the behest of a King.
What a familiar story.
———————————————————————
The reader has set physical features such as eye and hair colour. The reader's skin colour is left ambiguous/when described uses the phrase “s/c” aka “skin colour”.
This story contains canon-typical behaviors and scenes! Viewer discretion is advised!
Morgana Stark was said to be the finest beauty of the North, born years before Cregan Stark was even a whisper on her parents lips.
She was brown of hair, with soft features and steel-blue eyes which ensnared all who looked upon them. Morgana was a young girl of ten and two when she was betrothed by Queen Alysanne to Daemon Targaryen, the man being six years her senior when they were wed. They would not be made to consummate the marriage until summers later, but by then Daemon had already grown bored with his Northern bride.
Yes, she was beautiful, a fierce warrior, and well read enough that she took the time to learn the ancient language of his House; yet, that was not enough for the rogue prince. He needed more than the barren wastelands of the North, and so he abandoned her to return to the Crownlands.
Years passed and when he finally remembered his sweet Morgana he forced her to leave the North and join him, moving her Northern charm to the South.
It would not be long before Morgana was with child. After all, the seed of the dragon is strong. Morgana begged and pleaded with her husband to be allowed back to the North for her pregnancy, to be allowed back with her family and her people. Daemon pitied his poor Lady-wife and sent her North, but that would be the last time he would see her alive.
When Morgana arrived in Winterfell she became weak, her first pregnancy taking a toll on her body. Eventually Daemon received the raven that explained she could not be moved back down to Kingslanding due to her weakness, but he tossed it away all the same. Daemon had gotten his fun, he would not need her again for some time.
Morgana would die in her childbed nine months later, leaving behind one wish; that her child be taught the ways of both their people. So, her brown hair and steel-blue eyes were laid to rest, soft features covered in the stones of the Stark crypt.
But she brought Morgana back to life. Y/n Targaryen. She brought back her mother’s soft features and night-brown hair, her sweet smile and beauty-marked skin. The only thing she was unable to recreate was her mothers steel-blue eyes. Y/n had taken to her fathers instead, changing his smoky Indigo to a burning lilac.
Cregan Stark, the young boy he was, thought it was perfectly fine that his little niece was not collected by her father. He did not realize the disrespect of Daemon remarrying so quickly and not bothering to even write a letter acknowledging his only child. In fact, Cregan was thankful that Y/n was going to be staying with them permanently, he was excited to train her and teach her the ways of their house.
“My sweet little Y/n,” Cregan would sing, bouncing her around her nursery, “My sweetest little dragon.”
*
Y/n Targaryen grew into more of a Stark than anyone could have imagined. Her grandfather, Lord Rickon, did his best to fulfill his late daughter's wishes. He had brought in Maesters from the south to teach Y/n High Valyrian, and they had attempted to teach her the ways of her fathers family but try as they might the slippery Y/n always made her way back to her uncle. Cregan would sneak her into the forests around Winterfell and teach her how to strike prey with a bow, he would steal her from her lessons and read to her instead the stories of their ancestors.
“Tohrren Stark, he was the King who knelt. He did it to protect our people from Aegon the Conqueror.” Cregan whispered as the two crouched by candle-light, both technically meant to be in bed.
“Aegon…” Y/n breathed, caressing the page which depicted the moment Tohrren knelt for the future King. Cregan looked at Y/n, furrowing his brow at the young girl of eight years.
“Yes, he’s your blood as well; your father’s blood.” Cregan was honest with her, wiser in his years of ten and five. He knew she was beginning to pay attention a bit more to her maesters teachings, a child’s innocent curiosity getting the better of her.
“Does my father look like Aegon?” Y/n asked, lilac eyes staring at similar ones etched in ink.
“No, he is leaner than King Aegon was, and with longer hair…” Y/n nodded in understanding, flipping the page to see two detailed portraits of both Tohrren and Aegon.
“I can have his portrait brought up, if you’d like. We can put it next to your mothers in your chambers.” Cregan smiled although he despised the idea of Daemon Targaryen sitting next to his sweet sister on his niece's wall. Y/n’s eyes widened, a large grin spreading across her face.
“Truly?” Y/n gasped, sitting up straight.
“Yes, truly. Us Stark’s keep our promises.” Cregan puffed out his chest, ruffling Y/n’s dark hair. Y/n pushed him away with a giggle, crouching back down to read the book.
“Thank you, uncle.” Y/n hummed, and instead of looking towards the pages of the book Cregan looked at the way the light bounced off of her face; how in the dancing shadows he saw a glimpse of his sister beneath them.
*
“Tohrren, heel!” Y/n scolded her pup, the giant hound tripping over its large feet as it came to a halt.
“You have him well trained.” Cregan spoke, Y/n clutching her furs closer to her body.
“We have a sacred bond, him and I. Like that of Visenya and Vhagar!” Y/n scratched behind Tohrren’s ear, his tail beating the ground rapidly. In her elder years Y/n took a great interest in the warrior queen, reading binded Valyrian texts that Visenya had written in her youth.
“Come, a letter has arrived for you.” Cregan beckoned, Y/n following behind him at a steady pace, all while Tohrren watched her intently by her side. She had named him for Tohrren the Tall because of the great stature of his breed. When Cregan had inquired why not give him a Valyrian name Y/n had responded, ‘I am saving my favorite name for when I claim my own dragon’.
It was no surprise to anyone that Daemon had not placed an egg in Y/n’s cradle nor concerned himself with anything dragon-related thereafter. She was a Targaryen without a dragon, and in that family, it was a fate worse than death. Cregan had often wondered what it would be like in Winterfell with a dragon around, but dragons need fire to survive. The cold would have killed them, which is why Cregan refused the notion that Y/n was any less Stark than he was. No petty dragon could brave the forces of winter, and luckily for Y/n, she was raised by wolves.
“It is from the King?” Y/n blinked, opening King Viserys’ royal seal. Cregan looked over his niece's shoulder, reading the words as she did.
“He…he just wants a correspondence with me? To talk?” Y/n sputtered, rereading the letter. In all of her sixteen years her Targaryen family rarely visited her, never mind writing to her. She only got the occasional trip on dragon-back from Rhaenyra Targaryen, not even her own father.
“If the King wishes to speak with his niece, who are we to deny him?” Cregan shrugged, a hint of a smile tugging on Y/n’s lips as she knocked shoulders with him.
“The King wants to speak with me. Not about betrothals or silly court gossip, but about my life. He wants to understand me.” Y/n re-folded the letter, looking up at her uncle.
“I will be in my chambers writing back to him if you require me,” Y/n stood on her tip-toes and kissed Cregan’s cheek, his growing beard scratching against her lips, “I love you!” With that she called for Tohrren and scurried off to her rooms, leaving Cregan to do all the worrying.
It troubled him that Viserys was taking an interest in their shared niece. The King had never been interested before, so why now? Cregan hoped for Y/n’s sake that it was the incident at Driftmark which made the King contact her. Perhaps after the disaster of his immediate family Viserys was reaching out to what little he had left, no ill will behind it. No Queen behind it.
All Cregan could do was hope for the best and pray that the Old Gods protected his Y/n.

Plot: Winter Schnee, the first (later former) heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, is enrolled into Atlas Academy to not be defined by her family name and legacy. As her only desire to be remembered as a soldier for when she graduates. There, Winter is experiencing her life as a leader of Team WNND (pronounced: wind). And even making friends in the process. But also experiencing a rivalry with a student of Haven Academy, Jupiter Vasilias, rogue young man and a member of Team ZRVT (Pronounced: serpent), whom despises Winter because of who her father, Jacques Schnee was.
Characters:
Team WNND
Winter Schnee - An heiress of the SDC and the leader of Team WNND. Being made the leader of her team, she was shunned by her teammates due to her background as a Schnee. But remained patient with her teammates as it came to her understanding that they needed time to adjust to her as she has to do with them. Though she takes her grandfather's advise to heart that she needs to bind her mind and soul to find herself a path.
Perseus Nire - an heir to Nire Industries. Like Winter, he was disgusted with how the rich disregard the lives of those unfortunate despite being born to a wealthy family that involves tinkering machines and weapons. He was disowned by his father after he forbade him from enrolling into Atlas Academy. He didn't trust Winter at first due to her father's shading dealings. But took his time to get to know her better and became her closest confidant. His weapon is a shield that also shifts into an arm blade, dubbed Arm-Protectus. His semblance is that his skin can transform into metal until his aura runs out to change back to normal. But it was weakened against heat. He is an allusion of the warrior, Perseus from Greek Mythology.
Natalie Andromeda - an heiress of Andromeda Cosmetics, and the love interest of Perseus Nire. Natalie was born a beautiful girl during her teen years. And her mother was jealous of her beauty that she once tried to sacrifice her to the oceans waves by chaining her to an iceberg. This unlocks her semblance of magnetic abilities that broke free from her captivity and saved herself from certain death. After this, her mother was arrested, and Natalie cuts ties from her father for failing to control her jealous behavior. Natalie enrolled Atlas Academy to not be defined by her beauty. There she met Perseus Nire, whom only interested in her for her for who she is. Her main weapons are the dual chains that her mother used for her sacrifice, and it was upgraded with spike gear attached on the ends. She is the allusion of Princess Andromeda from Greek Mythology.

But for mysterious reasons, he wears a blindfold, even though he is not blind. His semblance creates waves of the wind every time he uses his sword. He is the allusion of the Japanese god of the wind, Fujin.
Team ZRVT
Zerena Slithers - The leader of Team ZRVT and the only female in the group from Haven Academy. Zerena was held captive as a slave to the aristocracies in Atlas as a young girl due to her being a snake-tailed faunus. Only for her to rally her fellow captives and fight back. Unlocking her semblance to turn people into stone. She wields a scythe/whip due to being taught by Qrow Branwen, making her one of Qrow's first student to have used a scythe besides before Ruby Rose. When it was turned into an electric whip, it was infused with electric dusts. Zerena is an allusion to Medusa from Greek Mythology.
Roth Mandle - A young man with a semblance to control the vegetation around the environment. He is a herbalist-in-training studying plants since his mother's flower shop came into a close. His main weapon is a battle axe that also serves as a minigun. Roth is silent, but he means well for his teammates. With his herbology skills, Roth can establish a remedy needed for healing, or a weapon for poison to use on his enemies. Though enemies with Team WNND, he respected them for their way of working together. He is an allusion to Jack and the Beanstalk.
Jupiter Vasilias - A blue-haired teenage boy who is rebellious and filled with anger issues. He is a student under Qrow Branwen (whom Jupiter idolized). He came from a rare bloodline of warriors that used aquatic-based semblances. Jupiter is well-known to be a heartbreaker and dating multiple girls, only to cheat the next. He has a grudge against the Schnee Family due to his mother's cases against CEO Jacques Schnee, and he retaliated with shutting the law firm down. And he hated his daughter, Winter for that, and would prefer to her as "Ice Demon." And hated the wealth and Atlas as a result. His main weapon is a spear that also serves as a saber naginata and a sniper gun. His semblance allows Jupiter to convert water into mist.
Tyler Shepard - A wolf-eared faunus and a thief. Tyler was raised by a tribe of bandits sometime after he somewhat ended up orphaned. Tyler has a skills for thievery and was long time friends with Jupiter, whom they formed a connection through business of revenge against the aristocracies. His friendship with Jupiter is similar to Sun's friendship with Neptune. Only he mostly followed for whatever Jupiter says and taught him how to steal. His main weapons are dual tomahawks that also shifts into pistols, dubbed Alpha and Beta. His semblance allows Tyler to steal other people's semblances by physical contact to use until their aura runs out.

ADKOL: Helena Wayne
Helena Alfreda May Wayne is the daughter of Bruce Wayne, Batman, and Selina Kyle, Catwoman. The two costumed vigilantes met during Bruce's first year as Batman, and despite them being on opposite sides (Bruce as a crime fighter, Selina as a burglar), there was an undeniable attraction between them. This attraction resulted in a seemingly inconsequential night of passion on a rooftop one night. 9 months afterwards, Helena was born.
Helena's life was never a stable one. Despite both her parents love and best efforts, it took a long time for them to actually reconcile their differences. Further complicating matters was the fact that they were also vigilantes, and the end result was that Helena was closer to her grandfather figure, Alfred Pennyworth, then she was her parents. Even when she was young, she knew that her parents were too stubborn to comprise. She decided the best course of action would be to introduce a rogue element that would force them to genuinely work together. In secret, she began training with any and all teachers she could find, ranging from the legendary Ted Grant to the deadly Lady Shiva. Not even Talia al Ghul, another romantic partner of her father's that she despised at the time, was off limits for learning how to fight. Once she was satisfied, Helena used some of her parents equipment to put together a costume, and she became Batgirl.
Bruce and Selina were horrified when they found out Helena was Batgirl. They tried to forbid her from her nightly activities, even taking drastic measures to do so, but every night, Helena would be out there, fighting crime the likes of which she had only ever heard about. Ultimately, her plan worked: Helena's parents began working together to keep her as far away from their lives as possible, then to further her training when they realized it was fruitless to try and stop her. This brought Helena to Barbara Gordon, the Oracle. Helena had been recruited into the Birds of Prey, an all female group of warriors also consisting of Dinah Lance, the Black Canary, and a woman who coincidentally shared her name, Helena Bertinelli, the Huntress. She got along well enough with her team, and took well to their training, but tragedy struck when Huntress sacrificed her life to save Helena's life. To honor her and her sacrifice, Helena became the new Huntress, even training herself how to use a crossbow.
Helena's life was turned upside down when two separate events occurred at very nearly the same time. The first event was the discovery that Talia al Ghul had birthed two children from her brief romantic affair with Bruce, Damian and Athanasia. The second was that an invasion by Darkseid had resulted in the death of her father. Helena's life had been shattered, but she was tough. In order to move past her grief and help her younger half siblings, she created a team of heroes, recruiting all sorts of people from various other hero circles. Helena is now the protector of Gotham, alongside her siblings, Batboy and the second Batgirl, her mother, and her father's cousin, Kate Kane, also known as Batwoman.

It's been a while, hasn't it? Sorry about not posting in a while, this AU fell on the backburner. The one post I do have, about Stephanie, has become severely outdated, so I'm making an update to that soon.
For those who don't know, this AU, named A Different Kind Of Life, or ADKOL for short, explores a world where most of Batman's sidekicks and partners belonged to different hero families instead. I'll make posts detailing the others soon, but just to give one example that I've already shared, Stephanie Brown here is actually Stephanie Allen, adopted daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West, and the second Kid Flash. This is why Helena was mentioned to be the first Batgirl, despite a mention of Barbara as Oracle the very next paragraph, and why Athanasia is the second Batgirl.
For those of you who have questions about this AU, my asks are open.

Okay, since I've been given a choice, I'm going to go with Xelarra and Thrawn's son, Shran
Tumblr media
(Wish I had a better picture of him. This one is years old, but still, you can tell he's his father's son)
Full name: Mitth'shra'nuruodo. His core name translates to "gift" in Old Chenuh.
birth year: 9 ABY
Race: Chiss (duh)
Place of birth: Nirauan -- the Hand of Thrawn fortress. Empire of the Hand, Unknown Regions, the Galaxy Far Far Away
Family: Mitth'raw'nuruodo - Thrawn (father), Lexx'elarra'nuruodo - Xelarra (mother), Mitth'andor'randeth - Andorra (older sister). Mara Jade (older adopted sister), Mitth'ras'safris - Thrass (paternal uncle). Considers the Fel family his honourary uncle, aunt and cousins, and Admiral Gilad Pellaeon his honourary grandfather.
***
Shran was born in 9 ABY, at the very end of his father's campaign as portrayed in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy ("Heir to the Empire", "Dark Force Rising", and "The Last Command"). Xelarra would not allow Thrawn to leave for his campaign until he fulfilled a promise to her -- she wanted another baby. Shran was born almost immediately after his father's death at the Battle of Bilbringi, and never even had the chance to meet him. ("Penelope" Chapter 2), narrowly avoiding a Noghri attempt on his and his mother's lives. A heartbroken Xelarra named him, modifying usual Chiss naming conventions, in honour of his father's sacrifice -- Thrawn's last gift to his wife was their baby boy.
Though his life began with loss, Shran grew up surrounded by loved ones. His older sister Andorra adored him, often babysitting, and close family friends, the human Fel family, often cared for him alongside their own six children, with Syal Fel often joking that "one more doesn't make much of a difference at this point", and Shran became particularly close to Jagged Fel, two years his senior, who would be his lifelong best friend, and Cherith Fel, a year his junior. Xelarra lavished attention and care on her son, despite her position as Planetary governor of Nirauan (and would tell off any who dared to criticize her attending her family duties), and later, as Empress of the Hand.
Despite his happy childhood, Shran still felt the shadow of his legendary father, and strived to differentiate himself from the expectations that shadow cast. Instead of joining the Imperial Naval Academy as a mid-ager as almost everyone expected him to, Shran instead joined the Empire of the Hand's Explorer program. A passion project that Thrawn dreamed of, but never lived to see its fruition, the Explorers would chart and extensively study new planets and solar systems in the Unknown Regions and other outer reaches of the Galaxy relatively peacefully (their ships only being lightly armed -- enough to deter criminals), learning all they could and discovering unexpected secrets. You could say they "seek out new life and new civilizations". Normally, Explorer Cadets would have two years of classroom study, followed by two years of field placement before graduating to the rank of ensign. After learning that Thrawn had graduated in only 3 years instead of the usual 4 from the Chiss Expansionary Defence Fleet academy, Shran saw that as a challenge. He beat his father's record, graduating in only two years.
As an ensign, at 14 years old, Shran's first assignment was the RRS (Royal Research Ship) Stargazer, commanded by the Chiss Captain Kalemi, a former Rogue Phalanx warrior and mathematics expert. She had previously worked with Xelarra on a black ops mission, and Xelarra pulled some strings in the background to get Shran assigned to her old associate's ship. As a command-track ensign, Shran was expected to familiarize himself with all Explorer specialties, and he took to the challenge with his characteristic humour and enthuiasm. He was instrumental in helping Mara Jade rediscover her connection with the Empire of the Hand (upcoming fic, "Daughter of the Empire").
The Empire of the Hand's forces managed to find Vector Prime, forcing the Yuuzhan Vong to pick a different way into the Galaxy, delaying the onslaught of the Yuuzhan Vong War by 3 years (28 ABY instead of 25 ABY). By the time Shran was 19 at the beginning of the war, he had risen to First Officer of the Stargazer. Not long into the War itself, he'd be given command of his own ship, the RRS Intrepid, as the Explorers were reassigned to scout and Vong research duties. Despite the Intrepid's official role, he often finds himself at the centre of new developments during the war, like the intact capture of a coral skipper, proving the Explorer program as a whole's continued importance.
***
Personality:
In stark contrast to usual Chiss stoicism, Shran comes across as outgoing to the point of obnoxiousness, and has an air of not taking anything seriously. This is all an act, however, one made to make people underestimate him. Beneath the mask lies an intellect just as cool, calculating, and frighteningly intelligent as his parents'. He has a talent for noticing that which others miss, and finding insight in unexpected places. He has no patience with stupidity, and has no qualms about telling others to their faces if he finds a system or belief idiotic (such as almost everything about the Jedi, or the Chiss Ascendency's Ruling Family system). He's extremely loyal to his family, friends and crewmates. Anyone who threatens them will see his easygoing facade crack, and will learn first hand how dangerous the Son of Thrawn really is.

You have a rewrite? Can you tell us more about it?
Well I call it a rewrite but it’s more like a “rewrite that will later be made into a human au and then the names will be changed and I will call it a totally original idea for a fantasy book” but let’s talk about it.
Working title is Rains of Fire.
First thing is that they are faes/faefolk, which explains why, although humans, they still have very distinctive markings and colours (Bluestar is litteraly blue for example), and why they have litters instead of individual births.
The kittypets’ origin comes from the story of the Great Tribes: LionTigerLeopard (except with better names because they’re faes not big cats). The three great tribes were living in that territory (that is not exactly the forest but is closer to the forest territories than the lake territories) that was going on until the horizon. Then the Invaders (twolegs but here they are more like eight-legged octopus-shaped aliens, i will have to rework that part to make sense) came and the Lionclan, who was lazy, decided to strip themselves of their honour and their mane to become kittypets/slaves/kittypets but humans. Leopardclan prefered to hunt alone and split between the rogues and loners we know today’s ancestors. Tigerclan is the ancestor of the four tribes we know right now. It’s both a legend and actually kinda true, but I don’t know how true yet.
As for other things, there are:
- The Windclan succession war will actually be bloody and make victims.
-There will be something akeen to royalties: while Tigerclaw is the closest to royalty since his father and grandfather were both leaders, some consider their line ended and dynasties changed when Sunstar came to power, and he’s Lionheart and Goldenflower’s grandfather in my rewrite so Lionheart as a new deputy is just Bluestar (adopted by Sunstar after Moonflower’s death) continuing Sunstar’s line instead of starting her own (by naming Whitestorm for example, or her stepson Darkstripe). Also deputies are called Chancellors and leaders are called Monarchs.
- A few ages or families change: Lionheart and Goldenflower will be Sunstar’s grandchildren, Tigerclaw will have trained at the same time as Lionheart and Redtail, Thrushpelt is Graystripe and Darkstripe’s confirmed father...
- Working the “fae” thing I think Starclan’s attribute (instead of looking like they’re covered in stardust) will be that they have fairy wings.
- All the magicky/reincarnationsy/darkforestandimpostor things will be toned down, either metaphorical (Thornclaw doesn’t train in the Dark Forest: he is just seduced by Tigerstar’s ideology and wants to stage a coup against Firestar, etc. Lionblaze is such a good warrior that he must be a reincarnation of a tiger lol joking etc) or explained by Starclan giving their powers to warriors and medics because the living won’t take kindly direct interferences...
- also yeah medcats are blacksmiths.
- the iconic couples (SorrelBracken, DustFern, CloudBright...) won’t die separately: they will die in the same battle, or in the same epidemic, or storm, etc.
- FireSand will have two litters and a half (explaining the half right now). They will have SquirrelLeaf at first (although Leaf won’t be called Leaf), then Redkit and Tallkit (named after Redtail and Tallstar, who just died, born in Dawn, who will become Redflame and Tallwhisker or something like that) and in the Sight they will pretend that LionHollyJay are their kits because they don’t have another medic to take care of the clan if Leafpool is forced to step down.
- Also scars and such won’t be seen as ugly because they’re a mofing WAR CULTURE. So basically Daisy will still be like “oh my gosh what’s that” when she sees Brightheart’s face, but everyone else will be like “what do you mean that’s her face??”. I will probably scar Thornclaw and Brackenpelt too in some way because only their sisters have been disabled by Tigerclaw’s plots and I will have that change.
- There will both be more and less “named-after”: for example Sandstorm’s death will prompt the birth of a Windkit because storm = wind. It will be like people naming a little Esteban after his uncle Stephen: it’s basically the same name but it doesn’t sound the same at all.
- Also almost all elders’ death will prompt the naming of a kit with their name in their line, because if the name is “strong” enough to make them live old, we would be fools not to give it to them. Half-Tail dying means Runningwind’s kits will count a Sparrowkit, but Dappletail died without offspring so no cat will be named like her for a while. There’s a whole culture about names and inheriting names and family names.
- Actually I think names will be like the most important part of my rewrite. Fireheart is named after Lionheart, who took him in (it will also be an argument when he is named deputy: he is more or less the adoptive son of Lionheart, who was deputy and who was a leader’s grandson, so he’s got a right on the throne). Sandstorm after Whitestorm. No one will be named “tail” for a while because it was “reserved” for Ravenpaw as his father’s suffix (father who was murdered during his apprenticeship: not all kids get their parents’ suffixes) but since he’s “dead” too...
- Also Raven, Tulip, Cricket, Lynx, Swift... not being reused anytime soon will be explained by the fact that if a person dies before becoming an adult their name is considered bad luck somehow.
- Naming someone after someone who is still alive is considered a great mark of honor to the “source” person. The reason why there are so many “Tangle-”, “Claw-” “Stumpy-” etc under Brokenstar’s reign is because his closest allies named their kids with similarly derogatory names in order to honor him.
- Laws regarding who can marry whom. Basically taking it from the Catholic Canonic Law, where you can’t marry your godfather/godmother/godson/goddaughter, here you can’t marry your mentor/apprentice. No law against marrying their sibling but most of the time siblings don’t train together, and here anyway the age difference is way bigger between people than in cat years. You also can’t marry your first cousin unless the Priest(ess) and the leader both agree to the union. Snowbush+Lilyheart would not have been approved for example. The law comes from the dawn of the clans when Skystar tried to make Thunderstar marry one of his half-sisters (a kid of StarFlower and Skystar) as a proof of alliance between Skyclan and Thunderclan. Yikes.
- Chestnutblaze will get married with Runningwind and give birth to his kids but then he will be killed by Tigerstar. Longtail (who was not blinded) will become her second husband around Twilight.
lots of other stuff.
But anyway you’ve got the jist. Also I wrote twice as long as that before deleting half of it, just so you know I’ve spared you some.

He had a favourite type of story, too: cats chosen by Starclan themselves to be prophets, destined to save all the Clans, destined to be remembered as a legend.
What a thing to be. What a thing he should be.
He threw all his energy into trying to get Starclan to notice him. It only worked in making him an outcast among the other kits, save for Swiftkit. Swiftkit was younger than Rookkit by two moons, suffering from the horrid affliction of ‘falling head over heals for Rookkit at first sight.’
Rookkit didn’t take kindly to this newfound attention. Preferring to be alone, he wasn’t too fond of someone else impeding on his ‘destiny.’ Swiftkit never got the hint, constantly trying to butt into Rookkit’s fun.
At six moons, Rookkit, rather Rookpaw, decided to train as a medicine cat. Surely that would put him in Starclan’s sight? He was appointed apprentice to Elkdawn, a sweet and motherly she-cat.
But patient and kind as she was, she could only put up with Rookpaw for so long, removing him from her wing after only a week after he had insulted her herbs to the point of bringing her to tears.
With the leader’s approval, Rookpaw was forced to become a warrior apprentice under Tigerblaze, with a big and mean appearance that differs from his actual nerdy personality.
Rookpaw’s narcissism managed to be thawed out, if not a lot than a bit, by the warrior’s joking attitude. Rookpaw even began to see the warrior as a brother figure.
Swiftpaw was still high over heels, Rookpaw was still annoyed by him. Nothing much changed in that department, other than Swiftpaw becomeing the new medicine cat apprentice.
At ten moons old, Rookpaw began to notice strange things about littermates Lynxpaw and Adderpaw, two older apprentices.
Often, the two slept fitfully, waking with a look that said ‘I just saw a ghost.’ Additionally, they often visited the leader’s den following these dreams, who would then seemingly make decisions based off of them.
They were receiving messages from Starclan? Two mediocre cats over him? Greatly angered, he vented his feelings to Tigerblaze.
Unfortunately, as close as Rookpaw and Tigerblaze were, Tigerblaze was equally close, if not moreso, to Lynxpaw and Adderpaw, who he was the actual older brother to, and he didn’t take kindly to his apprentice slandering his siblings.
The fight got decidedly heated to the point of permanently damaging their relationship.
More moons passed and the apprentices each received their warrior names. Addermist, Lynxblossom, Swiftchaser, and Rookstorm.
A sudden disappearance of prey plagued the Clan. Starvation took many, including Honeyshade and Sweetwhisker. Destroyed by the loss, Rookstorm became increasingly aggressive. He went out at night often, picking fights with loners as a stress reliever.
While returning from one of these excursions, he noticed Elkdawn and Swiftchaser talking to Lynxblossom and Addermist, seemingly giving the siblings... travelling herbs?
Slinking closer curiously, Rookstorm began to make sense of what they were saying. “Don’t worry, your role in the prophecy is safe with us. Starclan be with you.” He was just barely able to make out Elkdawn’s words.
Rookstorm snapped right there and then.
Leaping from his place, he bowls Elkdawn over, tearing at her stomach.
He leaped for the littermates next, but before he could reach them, Swiftchaser blocked his way, shouting at the pair to run. Annoyed, Rookstorm demanded why Swiftchaser had to interfere in everything he did.
Swiftchaser responded by saying,  "Because I know that you can be better than this. I know you have the potential to earn StarClan's respect."
With a snarl, Rookstorm responded that if Starclan really respected him, they would have chosen him from the start. He then launched himself at Swiftchaser, running his claws down his face and gouging his eyes out in the process.
Unfortunately for Rookstorm, the commotion was loud. It woke everyone in the camp, including the leader, who had him exiled. As Rookstorm slunk away, seething with rage, his eyes locked with Tigerblaze. The warrior looked back at him with deep sadness.
Rookstorm dedicated his life in exile to tracking down Addermist and Lynxblossom, prophecy-stealers. After a long time that consisted mainly of starving, Rookstorm was about to give up when the two perfect and familiar scents caught his nose.
Lynxblossom and Addermist were walking along, chattering happily and cluelessly to his presence.
In spite of his weakened state, Rookstorm wasted no time. He bolted toward Addermist, knocking him down and ripping out his throat before anyone else could react. Lynxblossom could only cry out her brother’s name before meeting the same fate.
Yowling in triumph, Rookstorm wasn’t prepared for the large ginger shape to burst from the bushes.
Tigerblaze had followed his younger siblings on their journey to keep them safe, and now stood pinning Rookstorm to the ground while the blood of said siblings pooled around them.
Showing his teeth, Rookstorm claimed that none of this would have happened if Tigerblaze had simply listened to him as an apprentice.
Tigerblaze responded with a sigh, telling Rookstorm “you know, you were as much of a little brother to me as Lynxblossom and Addermist were” in a murmer, “it was your own hunger for fame that caused this."
Before Rookstorm could make a comeback, Tigerblaze sunk his teeth into the back of his neck.
And everything went black.
A smile spread wide. He knew where it was in which he woke up. Starclan wouls regret the day they had abandoned him.

Sorting SW Legends Solo kids
I’m almost finished reading NJO fully for the second time, and I decided it would be really interesting to sort Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin, who are the main trio of the legends timeline sequels.
Note: I’m using @sortinghatchats system, so the primary house is WHY you do things, and the secondary house is HOW you do them.
SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING AHEAD
Tumblr media
JAINA SOLO shares loud and obvious Snake Primary with her father and grandfather. From the very beginning, she justifies most of her decisions through the lenses of her loyalty to individuals. Jaina throws herself into the war because for her it is the only way to protect her family and friends. During her time with Rogues, she would fly the craziest maneuver to ensure they get out of the battle without losses. And when she gets Twin Suns, no one dares to say anything or even look funny at her pilots, because they are major Solo’s squad, and she would do everything - EVERYTHING - to keep them alive and as safe as possible in the war zone.
However, Jaina’s Primary is never as obvious as when it burns. When Anakin, her baby brother, one of the closest people she ever had, is killed, Jaina inescapably loses the perspective. The mission, the Jedi, and the Republic don’t matter anymore - all that matters is a revenge rampage, so very reminiscent of her grandfather’s, and then emptiness of isolation because having important people and being important to someone is dangerous, and it hurts. Jaina says it better herself: "I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid of surviving… and getting to the end of the war and discovering that I'm all alone. That everyone I knew and cared for is gone." And it’s SUCH a Snake reaction.
As for her secondary, she’s clearly a Lion (which makes her total daddy’s little princess). Jaina is the Sword of the Jedi, a burning brand to her enemies, and a brilliant fire to her friends, always a warrior pushing forward. She’s at her best when she is leading from the frontlines by sheer force of example, although as Jaina rises through military ranks, she develops a strong Bird model that aligns with her Primary dictating the need to keep her men safe.
JACEN SOLO is one of the most obvious Bird Primaries I’ve ever seen. He is a philosopher, always asking questions about everything. What are the Jedi? What is the Force? Is it 50% of Dark and 50% Light? Or is it a spectrum? Do the Sides even exist? His storyline (and by extension NJO's main storyline) revolves around the process of building his own system of how the world works, defining right and wrong, the boundaries of morality, and a new understanding of the Force. In the end, for Jacen - the Bird Primary of Bird Primaries - it’s all about truth in all of its universal and undefinable aspects, the truth that is “always greater than the words used to describe it”.
Curiously, like with his twin, Jacen’s primary is clearest when it burns (see the pattern? NJO writers really liked to break their characters). It’s a slow process that takes the entire first half of the book series when Jacen lacks sufficient data and maturity to incorporate the Vong into his worldview, and he gradually loses faith in his ability to ever do so. At his worst, tortured and picked apart, he doesn’t wish for deliverance, he wishes for the world to “make sense”, for someone to “make it make sense”.
As for his Secondary, Jacen wants to learn. During his quest, he studies the Force with Dathomir Witches, Aign-Tii Monks, and countless other Force sects and organizations to the extent that Luke Skywalker himself calls Jacen the most well-learned of his Jedi. Most of his moments of awesomeness occur when he has a clear plan of action (the Nursery, Well of the World-Brain) and a thought-out skillset to make it work. However, later in his life, Jacen learns to model Snake secondary very well, becoming quite the Chessmaster.
ANAKIN SOLO’s Primary was the hardest to determine for me. He is definitely an Idealist House, and judging by his interactions with Jacen, his primary is a Lion. The Solo brothers dynamic looks like a classic Bird/Lion conflict with the meaning of being a Jedi at the center. Jacen asks the uncomfortable questions, and flips on its head the tenets of the Code, while Anakin feels irritated by his elder brother’s doubts that hinder his ability to act and get things done. Anakin’s confidence in himself, his trust in the ability to connect to the Force and follow his gut instinct in the right direction are also big I’M A LION signs.
As for his Secondary, he shares Lion with his sister, and it’s part of the reason they work so well together. Anakin is brilliant, brave to the point of recklessness, and so, so honest about who he is. Despite all of the death he’s seen happening, he still believes in his immortality, and this turns his charisma into something magnificent and makes him such a powerful symbol. Although it’s also what kills him at the end.
So...
Jaina Solo - Snake/Lion (secondary Bird model)
Jacen Solo - Bird/Bird (secondary Snake model)
Anakin Solo - Lion/Lion

GENSHIN IMPACT FANFIC REC LIST II
(previous: part i)
Seaglass by Aevas
There was more to the contract than a gnosis and test of Liyue. It seemed like a simple deal five hundred years ago: so long as Morax never had a soulmate, the Tsaritsa would never harm Liyue and she would not get his gnosis. But the moment he gained a soulmate, all that belonged to him was forfeit. He thought the deal left Liyue safe—he'd lived thousands of years without a soulmate. The Tsaritsa would be dead and gone by the time she'd have a chance to collect.
Five hundred years later, Childe appears in Liyue, Zhongli gains a soulmate mark, and everything falls apart.
(The obligatory soulmate AU, featuring a Zhongli with PTSD, an oblivious Childe, and demon-worshipping cultists.)
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: I CANNOT BELIEVE I SLEPT ON THIS FIC FOR SO LONG. Read it and I mean it! I admitted initially steered clear of this fic because I wasn’t comforted with a soulmate tartali fic pre-Osial but this fic is actually post-Ostial *facepalm* The writing is phenomenal and Aevas does some beautiful worldbuilding that you typically don’t see in Genshin Impact fics. I love the dynamic between Childe and Zhongli here and the angst is real. The author writes the two as very human characters who makes mistakes, etc. and notably Zhongli struggles with the concept of Childe as his soulmate (who understandably is upset by the rejection when he realizes). They get better though. Also very plotty. A+ writing.
it's a hard rock life for us by reptilianraven
“Ah, no need to worry about that,” Azhdaha waves a dismissive hand. “There is no real Kun Jun. He’s dead.”
A leaf blows past and plaps onto Aether’s face.
“You killed him???” Paimon screeches.
“No,” Azhdaha scrunches his eyebrows. “He was dead when I found him.”
“And you just decided to wear his corpse?” Aether says, leaf still on his face.
He shrugs. “It was free real estate.”
“Azhdaha...” Morax says, sounding vaguely pained.
-
Or the one where Historia Antiqua Chapter II: No Mere Stone goes a little bit different and Azhdaha gets more time.
He ultimately uses that time to bully Morax into confronting his immortal neuroses, to make Aether and Paimon suffer, and to figure out how to get that ginger boy Morax has his eye on to make a move already.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe, Past Azhdaha/Zhongli
Notes: Very lighthearted, humor-filled fic. Love how Azhdaha is so flippant. Interactions with Zhongli and Childe are pure gold.
if there's a light at the end, it's just the sun in your eyes by moonlight_mist
Childe has a Weapon problem- specifically, that he can't keep one.
He's too reckless, too wild, and too keen on pushing his Weapon partners past their limits. He's just about ready to give up when he meets Zhongli, a Weapon who just might be the solution- so long as Childe can manage to keep his dick in his pants.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: This is a Soul Eater AU with some college/university AU vibes (?) but you don’t really need to know much about the anime. It’s a cute AU and I love the premise. Light angst but otherwise, it’s a pretty semi-plotty fic. Easter egg Kaeya and Diluc though.
To Kill A God by IlluminanceinTales
In Snezhnaya, they call them sansis—lost souls that have no guidance but themselves. It’s an apt description, given that most of the time, wannabe-Archons have to go through dozens of tests with nothing as their reference, relying solely on their wit and strength and hoping it would be enough. At least, until they survive the end of the whole game—and they might not have to undergo a painful reincarnation which feels like a hundred bones being stitched together again.
On his seventh game, Childe Tartaglia reincarnates this time in the body of a young man.
Damn, he thinks, looking down at his thin body, his slightly calloused fingers. This won’t be good when facing the other Hydro Decisions.
In a world where an Archon's position is not chosen but fought for in games, Childe Tartaglia is a Hydro Decision who's poised to become the next Hydro Archon. Of course, that's only if he survives his seventh reincarnation. All would be so much easier if it weren't for a certain Geo Archon interfering with every possible chance he gets.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: Think Hunger Games meet Political Intrigue meet Genshin Impact. Love the premise and world building that’s done. Features overprotective Zhongli and lots of Childe whump. Has one or two supplementary OCs that aren’t really important outside of plot device reasons. Warning for character death tho lmao.
Three's a Family by IlluminanceinTales
Childe finds a kid that looks just like him.
Of course Zhongli wants to keep him.
Or: How a harbinger and an archon accidentally become fathers. The kid is their wingman
Ships: Childe/Zhongli (?)
Notes: Your everyday cute AF kid fic. Fluffy as hell and super cute. Zhongli and Childe get domestic pretty quickly. Xiao gets dubbed a grandfather and begrudgingly plays along. Super wholesome.
in pitch dark i go walking in your landscape by snowbrigade
He glanced down at him, at the silvery scars peeking out from beneath his robe, and at his eyes, properly now. They were the bright blue of high quality noctilucous jade, but he could see it, an underlying darkness.
Zhongli wondered what his eyes betrayed about himself. --
Rex Lapis is dead. Zhongli, formerly known as triad leader Rex Lapis, is a detective investigating his own "death." Childe, also known as Tartaglia of the Fatui mafia, is undercover as an escort looking to kill Rex Lapis- until someone beats him to it, and he wants to know who. Goals intersecting, they form a partnership of ulterior motives.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: There’s like one scene that skews NSFW but otherwise surprisingly not explicit. Really fun AU. Like how the author addresses Childe’s reaction to being stuck with the undercover escort stuff and how the dynamic between the two develops. Pretty plotty so far.
Phantom Lines by iskendaris
“It’s a measure of one’s self, Mr Zhongli.” Childe says. “Maybe you don’t understand it since you work as a consultant, but as an ambassador from the Tsaritsa, as one who fights in her name— this is how I learn to know the measure of myself.” “I understand,” Zhongli says thoughtfully. “It is a warrior’s way, to test one’s strength against the incomparable. To find where one falls short. To find where one has risen to the challenge.”
In which Childe has insomnia, vandalizes public property and runs into a mysterious funeral consultant on his first night in Liyue.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: THE FEELS. I can only describe this as the fic where Zhongli pays Best Boyfriend Ever only to FUCK UP big time (via Gnosis deception). Poor, poor Childe. Look, he gave the boy feelings and then broke him. You can really feel Childe fall in love in this love. He also does mental swooning a lot lmao.
adventitious by Anonymous
It's said the Ley Lines remember all things that happen in this world, from the surface down to the deepest depths... But in the hidden corners where the Gods' gaze does not fall, there are those who dream of dreaming.
There's a dormant bud where Kaeya's eye once was. One day, it will bloom. (Never forget: memory is untrustworthy.)
Ships: Diluc/Kaeya
Notes: I don’t even know where to start. This is very headcanony and lore-focused. Very much concentrated on Khaenri'ah. The implications of this story is grotesque to say the least (according to this fic, Visions are the literal eyes of the people of Khaenri'ah). Warnings for eye and body horror.
Without Those Dark Memories by StrangeDiamond
Diluc awakens in Stormterror’s Lair with no memories of the past five years. Kaeya is on the trail of a rogue alchemist, with a habit of testing his chemicals on unwilling human subjects. Now, in addition to capturing the criminal, Kaeya has to shake him down for an antidote . . . and deal with an amnesiac Diluc who acts exactly like he did before their brotherhood fell apart. (Standalone Fic.)
Ships: Diluc/Kaeya
Notes: This is sort of a classic amnesia fic. I particularly really liked the way that Kaeya was written in this. I feel like the author did a really good job nailing his character and they have a way of capturing the subtle things.
Through the warmth, through the cold by strikedawn
“It’s you!” Paimon shouted with a twirl in mid-air.
“…Excuse me?"
They were drunk. Were they drunk? Was he drunk? Because Kaeya had the feeling his guests had been talking to him for a while now, but none of their words had made any sense whatsoever.
That was, until Venti stepped firmly in front of Kaeya’s desk and set his hands on the top, the better to lean over towards Kaeya and say: “For the end of the Windblume festival, Sir Kaeya Alberich, we’re going to auction a date with you.”
Ships: Diluc/Kaeya
Notes: Shortword, Kaeya gets auctioned off. Diluc makes impulsive (but good) decisions and scores himself a Date but displays an inability to do Date Planning. Venti deserves a pat on the back. Very sweet.
Hide and Seek by Kiri_Kaitou_Clover
Childe did not expect regaining his memories would bring him such frustration.
He makes the best of the situation by messing with one amber eyed consultant in anyway he can.
A reincarnated storm god wades through life in Liyue, all while screaming about one dragon god's incompetency at being human.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: Features Childe as Osial’s very exasperated reincarnation, who gets the joy of discovering that his rival/enemy Morax is not only an idiot but also broke AF. He still falls in love anyway. Contains this golden line:
"Did... did that complete blockhead really use my money in order to get me a gift that basically says that he is proposing to me?!"
(Osial was screaming. When had the other god become like this?! Had he always been like this?!)
Getting that Bread by tzitzimeme
Concubine AU where Zhongli is Emperor, Xiao is an assassin sent to kill him while disguised as a woman in his imperial harem, and the only reason he doesn't actually do it is because he pities Zhongli for being so catastrophically stupid (also Xiao falls in love).
Ships: Zhongli/Xiao
Notes: Like Xiao says, Zhongli is an idiot. Fluff and humor filled. Xiao spends a good 95% of this exasperated by Zhongli’s bullshit.
prayers for a boy by Recluse
The only way to reconciliation is fierce combat!
Hm... Come to think of it, there will be a lot of interesting news to be heard the next time we gather for drinks. Filling in the blanks.
Ships: N/A
Notes: I...don’t really know where to begin with this? It’s exactly what the summary implies...but more? I was tempted to describe this as the fic where Zhongli puts his foot in his mouth but...that’s not exactly write? I feel like this was more of a character study. It explores the aftermath of the Osial Incident and how Zhongli and Childe reconnect. Platonically...though I guess it can be read romantically.
one kind of longing, two places of sorrow by lady_peony
Zhongli's hands rest behind his back, both gloved hands clasping one another. His fingers tighten around one another for the merest moment, before he relaxes his grip.
"There is a tradition in Liyue," Zhongli says, his back still to Childe standing behind him, "of inviting out a companion to a last meal before a farewell."
A pause.
"A tradition?" Childe echoes.
"Yes."
"With a companion?"
"Yes."
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: The fic where neither of the two communicate about jackshit but go on a quiet, sad not-date before Childe leaves for Snezhnaya. Childe pulls (? on accident or on purpose, I can not tell) the equivalent of leaving the jacket in the car post-date to get date to call for the second date. Also, the author has a gift for like...writing angst...without writing angst? Like the whole fic is like brimming with everything that the characters aren’t saying but the thoughts aren’t necessarily written out BUT YOU KNOW THOSE DUMBFUCKS ARE JUST LIKE. BRIMMING WITH FEELS?
The People of Liyue by queer_occurrences
But Zhongli whispers, his low voice rooted in the back of Childe’s mind. “Changsun, the merchant, who is never too Mora-enthralled to turn away a needy child. There’s Tiantian—she will allow anyone to join the Adventurer’s Guild—she knows what it is to be desperate.”
Childe ducks away from them and hurries out over the bridge. It’s a warm, sunny day, the kind he would have complained about, whining about his delicate Snezhnayan skin. “It’ll burn, or worse, freckle. Would you still like me if I was freckled?”
Then Zhongli would say, “The people of Liyue will remember your sacrifice.” And he would wrinkle his nose.
Or: after it all goes down, Childe takes a walk.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: The author has a way with perfectly balancing angst with humor in a way that makes you cackle. There’s a lot of feels in this one. Zhongli tries communicating--Childe runs away a lot. There’s a lot of love for Liyue in this one.
cold blooded, warm blooded, hearts all the same by reptilianraven
Teyvat Petting Zoo @tyvtpettingzoo
Well would you look at that! Zhongli, our resident spinytail iguana, has gotten quite cozy with Childe, our new (and very feisty) ginger ferret! Aren’t they adorable all cuddled together like this? 😍😍😍
[Attached image shows a brown spinytail iguana curled up against a ginger ferret. The iguana’s head is nuzzled under the snout of the ferret.]
-
At the Teyvat Petting Zoo, Zhongli and Childe fall in love.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: ...I promise I’m not weird. This is just super cute. Cross-species love affair? Childe the ferret is very besotted. The internet is confused and the zoo keepers are just done.
a geo archon's guide to the modern era by Erina
“Morax,” Xiao says after Zhongli finishes his retelling of the incident. “He thinks you’re a weirdo.”
“No, don’t say that,” Barbatos snickers. “You’ll give him hope that this is salvageable.” He lowers his voice. “Morax, he thinks you’re a boomer.”
(In which Zhongli hibernates for centuries and wakes up in the modern world)
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: This took me, I shit you not, FIVE SEPARATE ATTEMPTS to read. Not because it was bad but BECAUSE THE SECOND HAND EMBARRASSMENT WAS REAL. Like, omg, just reading about Zhongli’s introduction to modernity made me want to dig a hole and die. Super funny though. Do not read in public or you will look like a lunatic. Has a...parallel (?) fic in the same series called  buy two get one archon free where Zhongli gets reversed isekai’d into an anime convention.
time flies like an arrow by Erina
He’s tired, tired of the unbreakable loop of watching his loved ones pass on, tired of getting attached only for the connection to be violently ripped away from him. He wonders if the real victors during the Archon War were those who perished, who died long before their godhood turned into a curse that chained them to the land that they were fighting for.
But that is not a problem for Childe to worry about. That is Zhongli’s burden to bear, delivered to him in a pretty package years ago in the form of a gnosis.
His very first contract.
(Zhongli and Childe, across many lifetimes)
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: This is a quiet fic. It’s this kind of slice-of-life fic colored by this overpowering sense of love and loss as Zhongli remains immortal and Childe dies and lives and dies and lives for hundreds of lifetimes, but always finds his way back to his geo archon. It’s so lovely but also unbearably sad.
Tartaglia’s Favorite Professor by GreyLiliy
The famed hitman Tartaglia of the Fatui Syndicate spends his days as the charming college student Childe. The two lives remain as separate as possible in order to maintain a flawless cover to keep the authorities off his back and to better serve the Tsaritsa.
However, new intel about a rival syndicate intersects his two lives in a way he could never have predicted.
Ships: Zhongli/Childe
Notes: Mafia AU meet College AU. Childe is somehow both a horny AF college student and murderous hitman. Zhongli gives off major DILF vibes. GreyLily somehow makes this work while also avoiding cringe. Highly recommended!
like a handprint on my heart by fallingintodivinity
“Strictly off-the-record,” Jean says, with a small smile, “I’m really happy to see you and Captain Kaeya getting along again, Master Diluc.”
“We’re not – we’re not getting along,” Diluc tells her, indignant. “We’re working together. Unwillingly, I might add.”
“Yes – oh, yes, of course.”
Diluc stares at Jean suspiciously. “Are you laughing at me?”
Jean clears her throat primly. “I would never.”
Ships: Diluc/Kaeya
Notes: Super, super cute! Sort of reads like a first date fic except genshin impact style? Writing style is very refreshing!

Misc tugs characters headcanons I keep forgetting to post bc as soon as I sit down to write them out they go ✨poof✨
Billy Shoepack doesn't usually have problems with socializing but if he ever happens to find himself in a situation he doesn't feel comfortable in he'll just up and l e a v e
Billy has trouble expressing emotions through his face
Lillie loves listening to any kind of stories because not being able to move on her own and being stationed by Dem Der Rocks is boring af
Her favourite storytellers are Warrior because she loves the silly way he talks about his day and Grampus because she thinks his navy day stories are exciting
Lillie saw the events of Munitions from afar and was absolutely worried s i c k about all her friends. Never had she ever felt more upset about not having an engine. She didn't feel any better when only Sunshine came by that week to deliver her fuel while Ten Cents was under repair
Lillie's also got a case of surprising sailor's mouth because usually no one can hear her at her station anyway
I imagine she learned foul language as a result of trampers getting lost in the fog near her
The tree that fell over Up River near Boomer's mooring is still down
Boomer's new owner/occupant (who I like to think is a close friend of Captain Star) is a gardener and likes talking to him about plants
Which is why Boomer is now a plant dad he likes talking about nature and spouts nature facts he's learned over time
All the plants on Boomer's deck were named by him
Some of said plants names' may or may not be based off of Ten Cents and Sunshine (they are). Those plants may or may not be his favourites (THEY ARE)
I know Johnny Cuba in the Nothing To Declare book was maybe a bit out of character from what we got in the show but I like the idea of him wanting to be "the only scoundral around" Bigg City Port. I think it adds just a bit more to him in a "this is MY goddamn port to threaten the safety of" kind of way
This isn't a character headcanon but I really like that one blurb from Nothing To Declare that goes "Sunshine was not going to be bullied" as he's being threatened by JC
The Coast Guard and Davy Jones are great friends and have a "stoic but serious/goofy but also serious" kind of friendship dynamic
Bluenose remains largely unchanged after recovering from the events of Munitions. Though he no longer believes that orders come before common sense, he still takes to bossing others around
Said bossing others around may or may not be Bluenose attempting to forget about how his actions resulted in Kraka-toa and Big Mickey's death
Needless to say, everyone's opinion regarding Bluenose has dropped severely but to be fair they probably weren't that high to begin with
Sea Rogue's eyepatch covers a blind eye that was a result of a rogue shard of broken glass (munitions factory work is tough, man)
(Please do not ask me the logic behind how a tug would have an organic eyeball we know we aren't ready for that kind of talk yet)
Sea Rogue's Uncle is his uncle in a found family sort of way and they specifically use the term uncle because they overheard a human worker use it once
Sea Rogue's Uncle also disliked the idea of being called a grandfather, father or any variation thereof so they went with uncle
I'm THIS 👌 close to naming him Bob because the thought of some human worker using the phrase "and Bob's your uncle" and they just went with it is fuckin hilarious

DESIGN NOTES
ok so this was originally posted on my main blog as a cat-ified version of a homestuck character (yes yes i know), but i realized i liked the designs too much to just not use them again, so some of them will be posted here as background characters. i’m going to be careful to make sure they’re distinctly different characters, but if i’m wrong to do so please let me know.
that said, he has the exact same eye color as his father, grandfather, and daughter
also inherited spiky fur and bent tail from his dad
ears too got dam big, top teeth also too got dam big
small square chin, triangle nose, and strong hind legs
lean and sort of lanky
short list of personality traits: irritable, skittish, quiet, loyal, workaholic, spacey, witty, prideful, usually has good intentions at heart
son of lightningclaw and shellfang. his mother was exiled for treason when he was around 4 moons old, and even before then, he was always aware of how poorly she treated his father. while shellfang was never explicitly unkind to sparkkit, he’d witnessed how easily she turned on others when she didn’t get her way, and so he learned early on to walk on eggshells around her. after her exile, lightningclaw moved into the nursery to care for him until he was apprenticed, and the two grew very close. after sparkpaw became an apprentice, his father was called away by starclan to go on a journey, but for all sparkpaw knew he was dead or chased out by the halfclan-hating thunderclan and riverclan leaders. during this time, he confided a great deal in his mentor, swiftspring, and found comfort in the shadowclan apprentice russetpaw.
he was ecstatic when lightningclaw returned alive and well, and even prouder when his father became deputy. he gained his warrior name, sparkflight, for his skill in navigating the tallest of treetops, but even afterwards he continued to meet russetshine in secret. their relationship became more open after the battle with foxstar resulted in a more relaxed following of the warrior code, and a few moons later russetshine was pregnant. although of course she loved them, she wasn’t ready to raise kits alone and loved shadowclan too much to move to skyclan, so sparkflight brought his children to be raised as skyclan, with occasional visits to see their mother at the border. he became one of skyclan’s most trusted warriors and remained close with his family, helping lightningstar in his old age, maintaining a relationship with russetshine, and raising his kits the best he could.

Anyway babies in Leo's verse-
Althea Eleanor Cousland Mac-Tir, Crown Princess of Ferelden, eldest daughter of Queen Anora and Prince-Consort Leonard Cousland. Though born to two warriors, she's a rogue through and through, learning the ways of the assassin from her godfather, Zevran.
She's a combination of her mother's confidence and competence, her father's incisive wit and resilience, and the charm and brilliance of her aunt, Aurelia.
Prince Cedric Leonard Cousland Mac-Tir is expected to follow his grandfather's footsteps into leading Ferelden's armies. Much like his aunt, whose devotion to the Maker he seemed to have inherited, Cedric has a Phase where he wanted to relinquish his royal position to join the newly rebuilt Seekers of Truth under Cassandra and Divine Victoria (Vivienne).
It's rumored that his grandad, whom he sees from time to time, had something to do with changing his mind and redirecting his passion towards his duty to Ferelden.
While Cedric remains staunch in his Andrastian faith, Althea is privately but firmly an agnostic. Rather than it leading to clashes however, the siblings are a political powerhouse precisely because of their balance. It's a Cousland thing.

Dewkit > Dewpaw
Kit > Apprentice > Loner
Tom - ShadowClan
Parents: Bumbleheart, Rainbelly
Siblings: Rippleshine, Webwing, Rainleaf, Snowdusk
Mentor: Fireripple
Dewkit was born alongside his siblings, Rainkit and Snowkit. He was named after his great-grandfather, former deputy of ShadowClan, Dewfeather, and his sister was named after his father who had recently passed, Rainbelly. He had two older sisters, Rippleshine and Webwing, who were both nervous wrecks, terrified of the world around them. But, lucky for him, he seemed to inherit his mother’s confidence. Still, though, he hated being named after his great-grandfather. The tom was long dead, and had never been anything more than a deputy, and everyone expected him just to be as great and bouncy as him. He had many expectations on him. Expected to hate BoneClan for killing his father, expected to be just as energetic as his mother and her mother before her and her father before her, expected to be a completely loyal ShadowClan warrior who followed every rule- which was pretty hard since ShadowClan was very broken after Hopestar’s disappearance, and Sagestar’s struggling rule.
Dewpaw was appointed to Fireripple, another semi-nervous she-cat in his life. He got along surprisingly well with his mentor, but it was one day when he found out she was mates with a BoneClan rogue, Blackpaw, and a spy for BoneClan. He confronted his mentor, who begged him to stay silent. He did, because he trusted his mentor to sort this out herself. But he was rather exasperated at all the drama and terror and idiocy surrounding the secrecy. It was when he discovered Clawwhisker was also a BoneClan spy- even more, a murderer of Squirreltuft, Rainbelly, and Fawnleap. Squirreltuft was Clawwhisker’s mate, and Rainbelly and Fawnleap had been her brothers. It was clear she showed no mercy. But what could he, a simple apprentice who tended to laze off most days, do? Protest against it, and get killed just like the others? Tell his leader? And have to deal with her basketcase of drama too?
So, Dewpaw made a decision that would later inspire his own mentor to do as well. He left the clans. No, he did not “run away”. Clan life was just not for him. He never enjoyed the strictness of borders, the flip-flopping of friendship and aggressiveness with the other clans, the apparently all-seeing, all-knowing “StarClan”, and the useless drama, new and old. He was much better as a loner, going where and when he want, from barn cat to alley cat to house cat, back to stray again. He made friends, but never stayed with them. If they ever inquired about his odd name, he would tell them of the clans, and tell them to stay away.
“Large blue tom with white forepaws.”
Fun Facts: His favorite color is red, and his least favorite prey is birds, even though he thinks they taste the best. He was also visited by Dewfeather once in his dreams, but since he doesn’t believe in StarClan, he dismissed it.

LC Epithets
@secret-engima yeeting this your way as well because you’ve always got good thoughts to add.
So I’m looking for Epithets to yeet at various ancestral LCs. I’ve got some already, but I need a couple more and I’m honestly drawing blanks (glares at computer screen).
Because I headcanon that all LCs are given an epithet upon their eighteenth birthday whether or not they actually take the throne, because sometimes it’s not the eldest/crown heir that takes the throne (coughTheRougecough). Of course, there are LCs who don’t get epithets because they never come into contact with the crystal, which is how the Wanderer’s eldest, Sterope, never got an official epithet for all that the Galahdians were all too happy to give her one themselves.
So! Without further ado, the canonical epithets (so y’all can have examples without having to look up the entire list): Healer, Mystic, Tall, Fierce, Clever, Just, Pious, Conqueror, Rogue, Wanderer, Warrior, Oracle, Wise, Father, and Chosen.
Then my LCs that I do have epithets for:
Somnus’ children: Celas the Architect (Somnus’ heir), Pyrites the Red (second son), and Tacita the Silent (youngest and only daughter),
The Rogue’s brother: Luminis the Herald (who she was going to be Sword to before he was killed by daemons),
The Wanderer’s children: Piceus the Unyielding (his only legitimate child who tried to invade Galahd), Sterope the Hunter (his eldest child and the Ulric who defended Galahd against invasion),
The Oracles’ siblings: Asper the Sharp (youngest son but crown prince before his death), and Trista the Muse (second child who chose to pursue art over ruling),
Acris the Defiant (the Wise’s son who inherited the throne and ring at a young age but survived holding the Wall for forty years, defying death to do it)
Mors the Grim (because secret-engima’s epithet for him is amazing and I will never not love the pun),
and Sola the Ardent (who later is named Phoebe the Enduring by the Galahdians).
LCs I’m trying to figure out Epithets for:
Sideris, Somnus’ grandson and the third king of Lucis. His reign was marked by a power struggle for the throne, with various nobles backing different members of the Lucis Caelum family. Sideris was Celas’ only child, but his aunt and uncle had multiple children each. No few people thought Sideris unsuited for the throne.
Fulguris, the Wise’s grandson and 110th king of Lucis. Mors’ grandfather. He is the one who moved the Crystal to a more secure location after a failed attempt by Niflheim to destroy it. That the life expectancy of all Kings after this dropped is purely coincidental. (Sunshine!Sola off in the distance: I call BULL-!) Fulguris became somewhat paranoid after that, which would greatly influence his son and grandson’s behavior.
Saevus, 111th king of Lucis. Fulguris’ son and Mors’ father. Pretty much the majority of why Mors is Like That, and honestly if it weren’t for Mors’ Shield, Hand, and Heart-wife, Mors would have been a lot worse. So yeah, not a nice guy, with a Retinue that didn’t do much in the way of curbing Saevus’ more vicious tendencies.

#0002: Wonder Woman (Diana of Themyscira)
Age: 45
Occupation: Ambassador, author, adventurer
Marital status: Single
Known relatives: Hippolyta (mother, deceased), Gaea (mother),  Lyta Hall Trevor (half-sister. deceased), Daniel Hall (nephew), Ares (grandfather), Donna Troy (sister), Cassandra Sandsmark (great-aunt).
Group affiliation: Amazons of Themyscira, Justice League of America, formerly Star Sapphire Corps.
Base of operations: Themysciran Embassy, New York City.
Height: 6′0″
Weight: 165 lbs.
History:
45 years ago: Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, ashamed that she had to leave her first daughter behind in man’s world, petitions the gods of Olympus to give her another child. They take pity on her, and instruct her to mold the form of a baby girl from clay. Gaea, spirit of the earth itself, imbues this clay figure with a soul, and Hippolyta names the newborn child Diana.
29 years ago: Teenage Diana befriends Troia, another young Amazon who had been adopted by the tribe after washing ashore as a baby.
20 years ago:
Sensing much trouble and discord in the world of men, the Olympian gods declared that Themyscira should send out an emissary of peace into the world. Hippolyta holds a contest to determine which Amazon would be sent, forbidding Diana to enter. Disguised, Diana enters the competition nonetheless, winning and claiming the uniform her mother had worn decades before her, as well as her Lasso of Truth.
Diana leaves Themyscira, arriving in Boston, Massachusetts, where she is detained by local authorities. The Olympians intervene on her behalf, appearing to her in animal form and granting her abilities beyond those of normal Amazons.
Diana is taken in by Harvard professor Julia Kapatelis, and her daughter Vanessa, and enrolls at the school to learn more about the world.
Diana is attacked by Decay, a minion of Ares, god of war, and the battle spills out onto the streets, garnering her attention from the media, who dub her “Wonder Woman.”
19 years ago:
Diana foils a plan by Ares and his children, Phobos and Deimos, to cause a nuclear holocaust, using her lasso to convince the god of the error of his ways.
Diana becomes a founding member of the Justice League of America after teaming up with other heroes to repel an alien invasion of Earth.
18 years ago:
Diana agrees to hire Myndi Mayer as her publicist.
Troia arrives in Boston, taking the moniker of “Wonder Girl.”
Diana gains the attention of Barbara Minerva, the feline femme fatale calling herself the Cheetah. Minerva attacks Diana, attempting to steal the Lasso of Truth. After subduing her, Diana decides to return home to Themyscira.
17 years ago:
While on Themyscira, Diana is forced to partake in the Challenge of the Gods in order to sate Zeus’s anger for refusing to sleep with him. She fights monsters including the Hydra and Echidna on her way to freeing the imprisoned demigod Heracles.
Diana is first confronted by Valerie Beaudry, the Silver Swan, and Dr. Doris Zuel, alias Giganta.
15 years ago:
While on a trip to Greece with Vanessa and Julia, Diana is captured by the sorceress Circe, defeating her with the aid of Hermes.
When Diana returns to Boston, she finds Myndi Mayer dead, victim of a drug overdose.
14 years ago: Themyscira reveals its existence to the world, and the Amazons begin to take a greater part in world affairs.
13 years ago: Vanessa is kidnapped by the diminutive telepath Edgar Cizko, alias Doctor Psycho, beginning his long rivalry with Diana.
11 years ago: Diana, along with the rest of Earth’s superheroes, participates in the fight against the Anti-Monitor.
10 years ago:
After the Dominator invasion, Cheetah attempts to steal the Lasso of Truth once more, leading Diana to find the lost city of the Bana-Mighdall tribe of Amazons, and their champion, Artemis.
Diana is caught up in a war between the various pantheons of gods on Earth, and is seemingly murdered by Circe during the fighting. With the aid of the Phantom Stranger, she returns to life and defeats Circe, ending the war.
9 years ago: Diana is briefly replaced by Artemis as Wonder Woman after Hippolyta has a vision of her daughter’s death. Artemis dies instead, and Diana reclaims her mantle
8 years ago:
Diana joins the new incarnation of the Justice League, assembled to combat a team of rogue White Martians.
Vanessa Kapatelis is mutated into the new Silver Swan by Circe, who sets her loose against Diana.
7 years ago:
Diana re-locates to Gateway City, befriending museum curator Helena Sandsmark and her daughter, Cassandra. Cassandra disguises herself, and using artifacts stolen from Diana’s belongings, helps defeat Morgaine le Fey as the new Wonder Girl.
Themyscira is destroyed by the forces of Imperiex and Brainiac, killing many of the Amazons, including Hippolyta. The survivors relocated to a new Themyscira - a floating island built in the Bermuda Triangle.
5 years ago:
Diana takes a position as Themyscira’s ambassador to the United Nations, moving to New York City. She publishes a book, titled “Reflections: A Collection of Essays and Speeches,” which makes an enemy out of pharmaceutical tycoon Veronica Cale.
Diana confronts Maxwell Lord, who murdered the Blue Beetle and had Superman under his control, and snaps his neck. Afterwards, seeking internal peace, Diana makes a pilgrimage to Nanda Parbat, leaving her post to Troia.
4 years ago:
Despite strained relationships with Superman and Batman, Diana joins the newly restructured Justice League.
Diana is placed on trial by the World Court for the murder of Maxwell Lord, with Kate Spencer as her attorney. She is cleared of all charges and returns to the embassy.
3 years ago: Granny Goodness, in the guise of Athena, and Circe, work together, leading an attack on the United States by Themyscira. Diana is forced to fight against her sisters.
2 years ago:
During the Blackest Night crisis, Diana temporarily becomes empowered by the Violet Light of Love, becoming a Star Sapphire.
The resurrected Maxwell Lord enacts a scheme to eliminate Diana from play, trapping her in a prison of her own mind with the aid of Doctor Psycho - all part of a scheme from Nemesis, goddess of revenge. Diana defeats Nemesis and returns to reality.
1 year ago: Diana is attacked by Grail, daughter of Darkseid, who wants the essence of the gods to restore her father to adulthood.
Present day: Diana continues working at the embassy, while also continuing to serve with the Justice League and aiding the Sentinels of Magic against the goddess Hecate.
Commentary:
If Superman embodies hope and Batman embodies justice, Diana embodies compassion. Her existence is almost paradoxical: she’s the most compassionate of the Trinity, but also the most willing to kill when it comes down to it. The New 52 took her character too far in the direction of being a warrior, emphasizing the sword as her main weapon rather than her lasso and bracelets - to the point where her lasso became part of a chainsaw in Death Metal (as badass as that was). This Diana largely rejects that part of her nature, leaning into her status as an ambassador of peace to the world and believing in an open hand rather than a closed fist whenever possible.
This version of Diana is largely based on George Perez and Greg Rucka’s interpretations of the character, although that raises a few issues with regards to the timeline. Since post-Crisis Diana was introduced without any of her prior history, her post-Crisis early career is spread out over several years in this timeline. Certain elements of the post-Flashpoint interpretation of the character are also included, namely her being detained as an illegal alien by immigration officials, and her battle against Grail after this universe’s equivalent of Final Crisis.
This Diana also adheres to her origin according to Perez, rather than Brian Azzarello’s revamped origin that was also used for the live-action film. Diana was originally envisioned as an inherently feminist character, and making her narrative a patriarchal one centered around her heritage as a descendant of Zeus detracts from that. Rather, she’s a daughter of Hippolyta and Gaea, empowered by the female members of the Olympian pantheon (as well as Hermes). Diana doesn’t need a man behind her to be powerful, she just is.
She also doesn’t need a love interest. I have no hatred in my heart for Steve Trevor, but the character works better in the setting of World War II. In this continuity, he’s Hippolyta’s lover who later settles down with Etta Candy after Hippolyta returns to Themyscira. Perhaps a lover is in the cards for her in the near future, however.
Diana’s costume in this canon is the one she currently sports in Rebirth canon. I am shocked that it took so long to give her a battle skirt, given how much sense it makes as a permutation of the classic culottes or leotard look.
Got questions about Diana or anything else? My asks are open!
Upcoming:
#0003 - Hal Jordan
#0004 - Aquaman
#0005 - ?????
