TL;DR - WE ARE *NOT* DOING THIS.

A few hours after I posted this, a woman named Avery (I don't remember her blog) reblogged it, talking about how this wasn't a good idea. I reached out to her, and she said that, in her experience, this sort of thing does not work and will result in TERF/radfem posts being shown to Tumblr followers if those tags are used.

I really, really hate that there isn't a direct way of getting rid of the massive TERF problem on this site, and that staff don't respond to transphobic posts being reported for harassment. So far, at best, it seems to come back to blocking transphobes and filtering out their tags - or, as Avery put it, "lack of engagement is poison in [modern Internet]" (or something like that).

I am going to save this version of the post, and tag everyone who was going to do the tag flood, to alert them not to do this. And to all of the people in the reblogs who said that this was a bad idea, thank you for cutting it down before anything happened.

My name is Sam - I’m a stage manager for Pokémon Performances. I share my struggles with the burden of being from Galar. :’( /j

#pkmn irl [they/them]

That is - I help make sure Pokémon performances and shows go off without a hitch. I organise, I schedule, I move the props and I clear up the stage after. I am the person that makes theatre work even though you never see me.

I used to perform myself - but after catching suspected Pokè-Virus (just my luck smh) I developed CFS/ME and Fibro which meant no more performing for me. It’s just too physically demanding. But, I do teach classes now as well as doing management.

These are my Pokémon:

Normanda the Nidoqueen.

Lovely lovely Norma. My baby. A tank in battle ngl. When she wants to battle rather than perform I let people borrow her for the tundra battles. I raised her from and egg for performing specifically. Technically my partner Pokemon? She gets an itch to perform so I often use her in teachings. Though - she is not all brains. But she does love a hug and a fuss. She never forgot that she is my baby and still expends to be held as such. And even if she’s 4ft of pure muscle I try my best.

Gertrude and her kid Burtie - my Kangaskan.

Gurtie and Burtie! When I was a kid, I got lost in the woods by my house. Not my greatest moment. I’ve never been that lucky. But, a Kangaskan came out of the woods, stuck me in her pouch and wondered to the town where I lived. Ever since then, she’s stayed by my side making sure that I stay safe. Long story short that’s how I got my first ever Pokémon. Her pouch is useful for tools I need backstage. She did performances with me too, back when I did those.

Lucy the Leiperd

I found her on my sofa one day and she never left. She’s now too scared to leave the house and she is terrified of strangers. I do worry about her…but she is a trouble maker and keeps me on my toes. I think she was a stray once? Maybe she didn’t have the best time with humans? But she’s with me now and sleeps on the biggest bed in the house. (That being mine)

Balto the Bolthound

So I don’t really like canine Pokémon. So I used to carry biscuits with me to throw so Yamper would leave me alone on my way to work. This backfired (obviously) and I got adopted into a Yamper pack. Most of them I ended up giving to neighbors, as I already have a tonne of Pokémon in my tiny flat, but Balto stayed. He’s my service Pokémon in training. What a good boy!

Clive the rotom

Technically he’s not my Pokémon, he’s my rotom phone. He’s the rotom I’ve had since he I was 12. But I love him all the same. He will pop out from time to time to invade my fridge when he’s hungry or help me fix a light. He’s a clever little lad!

Maggie the Wooper

Maggie is the baby of my 6, and she’s the Pokémon distribution system at its finest. I found her in a bin? For some reason? No idea why someone would throw out a shiny. I just assumed someone dyed a wooper pink until someone pointed out she was a Shiny. But here she is. She lives her best life squirting water at me from the sink and stealing my heating pad. I’m training her up alongside Norma to be a performance pokemon for when I teach classes! But for now she’s just a baby - so she can have a childhood swimming in my bathtub. <3

#588: insight in wright, hc post 4

I still hesitate to overshare much but that Historical Accuracy talk of today's evening made this post into existence because I suddenly stumbled upon

a Situation, in The Fic, to say the least. Dark stuff under the cut.

You see, this long story starts as any other retell of HL but with yet another self-indulgent character for an MC, or not so much self-indulgent, well, the premise was and is basically that.

But soon the story reveals its dark undertones and shades, becomes a dusk it always set in, for to just tell the tale of not just a superhero of Hogwarts with tragic backstory, but of a tough young lad who went through Hell and high water and now wants rest and happiness. But instead, she has to work through not only societal restraints but her assumptions of what these are, and also through a presumption, that those are not much different from those of the muggle world and will haunt her for her choices of property, career, love life, every single thing there is to her hastily growing character, tough to endure the heat of the suddenness of a moment but immensely fragile in the following cool of time that doesn't sooth; she is easily shattered.

A situation -- a collision of her pile of mixed perceptions and assumptions about society she now resides in and the reality of it, momentarily escalates a teen romance into a mental breakdown; she said to Sharp, her path was crooked, what would they voices of gossip say and what vice awaited her for to love her; for Sharp, who had always assumed the good about her well-maintained and hidden private life, had less than a single thought of the chasm that accidentally sparkled somewhere in her thoughts, revealed the inexplicable sense of pain surrounded her, that he missed out on the sex of her dearheart -- a part, that Wright accentuated, it was the most important in her yammer, and he didn't spot it right away.

And then, Sharp was recreating Wright's line of thinking. That his help, perhaps, she was putting at a constant watch and overthought because of that stem, that had returned, that his help might have had certain… implications, hence the gossip. Someone's foul joke put her under a pressure he, a wizard all his life, an auror for a good portion of it, a reclusive Potions master stuck in his searches for the cure for another, didn't realize was there all this time, hence her mood swings.

It just clicked. That was her void of pain she had to bear with every day since after the Battle; she couldn't share a thing because she feared rejection, shame and losing what little she managed to gather and save to somehow still enjoy life -- after all that success and growth.

Is that all historical accuracy?

Not really because I have no idea how affected the wizarding world is by standards of not just Victorians but every other time there was before and after the Statute. My guess is, it's up to me and the needs of the story.

But what I gathered and read swiftly transformed into a spiral of mental shenanigans all around that long and winded path for a story to tell, where it's important to distance muggles and wizards the way for to an older man of higher status and of english descent to speak freely and with little to no prejudice to a young woman from somewhere of the lowest of the low -- remember, Wright is an immigrant child and grew up in south-west country, not even Bristol -- is not just possible but isn't frowned upon by either party, or anyone at Hogwarts for that matter, because basic human communication (outside political shitposting on main page of the Daily Prophet) isn't a problem in that society.

The caliber of Wright's troubles does not exist in the wizarding world. It is blocked off by the Statute almost completely. Should she had been enrolled in school by the age of 11, she would have never had any of this struggle.

so yeah it's called Under the Lamppost Is the Darkest for a reason.
