Hi there! Oh, I hadn't seen Georgia's Insta story until I saw your Ask, so thank you for bringing it to my attention.

A little backstory, for those who haven't seen it: Today was David's panel at NYCC, and he started to tell an anecdote about being given a pair of shoes for Christmas when members of the audience began shouting out telling him to tie his (very pink) shoes that were untied on stage. David actually tied the shoes, and the video of the moment was posted by NYCC on Twitter. An hour or so later, Georgia jumped in with a response and at the same time, posted this story on Insta (and the photo in Georgia's tweet appears to be from the same day that the video was taken):

For my part, I was under the impression that this was not a recent video, so to your question @phantomstars24, I don't think she is actually at NYCC with David. Rather, it looks like Georgia was searching for David's name on Twitter (again) and found a place to jump in with the screenshot and video.

In giving my opinion on this, I have to reference Georgia's Insta story from last month at the festival she and David attended, where she recorded him while he was walking and eating his ice cream:

Here, we see David take notice of the fact that Georgia is recording, after wondering why she was walking so slowly. He turns away for a moment, then looks back at her and says, "It's never gonna stop," and his voice is uncharacteristically...terse. He doesn't smile, or laugh, or give any indication that he is kidding (that I picked up on, at least). David's energy and the video as a whole just seemed off, but like many of Georgia's posts, it was written off as a joke.

The voice we heard of one of Georgia's children in today's video reminded me of that. Leaving aside the fact that this child actually flat-out called Georgia a "creep" (for which I'm also hard-pressed to find some alternate/jokey meaning) for recording David, the theme in both of these videos is Georgia constantly recording David for the sake of having content. And as we saw with today's Insta story, her then saving that content to use at a later date. I know the people who hate-read my blog will insist that Georgia gets permission from David before posting anything on social media and that he's fine with it, but it is really hard to think that he seems fine in the video from the festival. And how okay would any of us be if our partner constantly took video of us not to make cute memories, but so they can use it to prove a point later on?

As I've said before, all we get is this little slice of their lives that Georgia shares on social media. But increasingly, those little slices are starting to look like moments that might have been better left unrecorded/not posted to social media. To hear Georgia's own child call her out like that was jarring, but it also made me wonder how much they do see/what they think of what they are seeing. Even now it says something that they're already aware of her social media use and the lengths she is going to for content. (For that matter, I wonder what they will think in the future, such as if/when Birdie sees Georgia's Insta post calling her a "drunken accident"...)

Again, this could easily all be chalked up to me just missing whatever the joke/dry humor is here, but these were the impressions I had from seeing Georgia's content today. Happy as always to hear what others think, however, so feel free to chime in on this post...

Paradise Killer is 6 dollars on Steam until May 16 and I am here to hard sell you all on it because it's one of the best games I've ever played.

I'm gonna go beyond giving you a bunch of punchy keywords and telling you it's queer as hell and making meme-y jokes, and I'm going to actually tell you what this game is.

So top-level, WHAT IS PARADISE KILLER?

Mechanically, Paradise Killer is an open-world murder mystery. There is zero combat but a lot of exploration of a very unique location. The majority of your time is going to be walking about Paradise 24, looking for people to discuss the case with and for clues that are scattered around the world.

One of the most interesting concepts in Paradise Killer that is both mechanical and narrative is deciding What Is Your Truth? What Is A Truth And What Is A Fact? From the moment you start the game proper, you can turn 180 degrees and begin the trial and decide who the killer is, before talking to anyone about the case.

For example, getting into the actual crime scene takes a lot of puzzle solving to unlock the sealed room where the victims were killed. But maybe instead of examining the crime scene, you talk to everyone on the island and think you have a good idea of what happened.

Meaning: It is perfectly valid to decide you have the answer to the mystery and just go complete the trial whenever you personally are ready. YOU decide when this ends.

Which frankly I think is a cool-as-fuck concept. Also, I fully believe if three different people find EVERY CLUE and talk to EVERY SUSPECT and hear EVERY PIECE OF EVIDENCE.... they might decide on three different truths entirely. And THAT to me is ingenious mechanical design I have not seen anywhere else in a video game.

Okay let's stop burying the lede and talk about the world of Paradise Killer.

The non-batshit version:

Paradise Killer takes place on a big, beautiful island, the 24th Paradise. The architecture is a delightful mix of black obsidian obelisks, brutalist monuments, opal crystals to slumbering alien gods, garden paths, luxury yachts, and a whole lot of gold and neon.

Neo-occultist urban residential vaporwave-core. If you are like me, you will be taking a lot of screenshots. My wallpaper on my computer is Paradise Killer.

Your interactions with the cast are done in visual novel-style, though I feel I have to shout out this isn't your stock Ren'py UI experience. Every single aspect of the way the game looks compounds the vibes even further.

And the characters are infuckingcredible.

Sammy Day Break, born under the sign of Shadow Zero, is the local distillery and bartender for the Syndicate. Talk to him about what's unique about the whiskey he's made on Paradise 24, or about the good old days of the Syndicate.

Is Doctor Doom Jazz, born under the sign of Cosmic Deceit, really that carefree about what happened? Is his willingness to rekindle his fling with Lady Love Dies just a diversion to hide something? Well, he's one of the most cooperative witnesses on the Island.

Crimson Acid has been through a helluva lot since the last time she saw Love Dies. Blessed by the gods with her stunning rack (of horns! OF HORNS!), she's become quite the idol now. So why is she also an information broker? And can you figure out what her true feelings for Love Dies are?

Between all of these conversations, you can explore the island and collect RELICS and BLOOD CRYSTALS (the local currency) and CITY POP SONGS.

Okay so the Slightly Batshit Version:

Shinji: The Syndicate worships alien gods who want to drown the world in war and blood. Lady Love Dies: I don't see how that makes us the bad guys.

You are LADY LOVE DIES, born under the sign KISS ME TO THE MOON, the INVESTIGATION FREAK. She was exiled to the Idle Lands several cycles ago for falling prey to the seduction of the god Damned Harmony and endangering the entire Syndicate. Only now, with the death of the Council on the eve of Paradise 25, is Love Dies summoned back to solve the murder.

The Syndicate are a group of functionally immortal humans from all across history who are trying to create the perfect bubble of reality, their utopic Paradise where they can safely revive their dead gods. They were granted many powers and boons by their first god, Silent Goat, and hope through rescuing more gods they will grow in power.

How do you create a bubble of reality to do all this totally ethical shit? Easy! You abduct a bunch of normie humans to live on your island to use as a mass sacrifice to generate energy to fuel the creation of each Paradise. If only the outsiders would stop getting in the way!

Paradise Killer's world is delightfully out of its goddamn mind and half of the fun of the game is just picking up little nuggets of information about each member of the Syndicate, the gods, why each Paradise failed (there was an outbreak of vampirism that took out like three of the Paradises???), and just the way this universe works.

Okay this post is already too long but I'm begging you all to give Paradise Killer a chance. It's gorgeous, it's funny, it's mechanically really interesting, it's chill as hell, it has an incredible soundtrack,

and you should try it.

There is something magical about weaving a story together. I'm deeply convinced that a community is built from a story that many people add their pieces to. So in the good tradition of a shared storytelling I would like to continue in the direction that that @sgiandubh set out in her post last Saturday.

*** *** *** I have always been baffled by the bizarre version of reality that is imposed in CaitOnly World, in which Caitríona, her Shy 'Husband' and their «Blonde Bambino» supposedly live. In CaitOnly World Santa Caitríona da Monaghan plays her own version of the efficient housewife à rebours. It's as if she's been brought back to life from the 50s, from the days of «The Occupation: Housewife», with Mr McShy, of course, as the housewife who treats his 'wife' like a goddess (even though he doesn't) and looks after their «Blonde Bambino».

Side Note: Maybe it's because being CaitOnly is like believing. It is a statement of faith. It has nothing to do with reality or what we might know about Caitríon's life. With all sorts of caveats and disclaimers, of course.

Now there's another 'scandal' about Sam's 'numerous travels' and an absolute inability to reconcile these travels with a family life (I've only been here a short time and I've seen the same 'shock' a few times already).

Meanwhile, all these defenders of Caitríona's ‘connubial bliss’ and those who shout loudly that Sam would be the worst dad in the world (fortunately he's not a dad in the CaitOnly World), travelling around the world as he does, so all these wise women of the CaitOnly World don't even bother to listen to Caitríona herself.

I, on the other hand, fortunately have notes, screen shots and the memory of an old female elephant. *** *** *** Remember the "nomadic life"?

Once upon a time, we had a nice fandom legend about Caitríona mentioning her husband a lot, but never saying his name (because she couldn't pronounce 'husband' and 'Tony' in the same sentence). And as what is written about in fandom is usually reflected in Caitríona's PR, the Wall Street Journal published this long-awaited gem on 16 November 2021, during the infamous 'Balfast' promotion, of course:

But let's skip the 'husband'-comma-'Tony' sequence. Let's concentrate on the hippie 'nomadic life'.

Because a nomadic life with the Blonde Bambino is obviously nonsense to anyone who can count. The baby was supposedly born in August 2021. Outlander season 6 wrapped in May/June 2021. If the Blonde Bambino was travelling between Glasgow (where the series was filmed) and London (where he lives), it couldn't have been the Blonde Bambino born in August 2021. But who can do the maths these days?

*** *** *** Anyway, mentioning Caitríona Balfe's hippy 'nomadic life' sent the internet buzzing in Autumn 2021. Suddenly everyone was describing her travels with husband, child and possessions (how far away from the image of Caitríona in a 1950s-style kitchen apron). One small example - the article is not behind the paywall - published by the Daily Express.

Admittedly, this article, like most articles about our two lovebirds, is a strange mixture of fact and manipulation. But let's focus on the interesting content.

Beneath a screenshot of an IG photo of Sam and the blonde bambino`s hands lying on a striped sheet, the article read:

She wrote: "Today, my husband, Tony, and I and our son are slightly nomadic. "We split our time between Glasgow and London. “When I’m working on Outlander, we're in Glasgow."

Admittedly, it's impossible to know where Caitriona 'wrote' the above (as it's certainly not on her Instagram account, I'm guessing the author apparently had trouble quoting the Wall Street Journal directly, which is a shame). But let's not get hung up on irrelevant details. Surely the hippie dimension of the "nomadic life" was important to Caitríona's PR in some way (the message: I'm not a boring wife to a boring man, I travel the world, even with a newborn, I'm an artist, I'm a hippy!).

So much important, in fact, that an article in The Guardian on January 23, 2022, after the tour's composition had been corrected (by how logically the newborn had been omitted), added Los Angeles to the "nomadic existence" between London and Glasgow.

And Villa No Ego, I think.

Bottom line: everyone, everyone listen:

Caitríona travels. With her husband. With a child (well, with children). With clothes, with blankets, with baby's cutlery. With toys. With a suitcase full of shoes. With warm clothes and a child's bicycle. She leads what she calls a "nomadic life". London, Glasgow, Los Angeles. New York. Et caetera.

This seems to fit in quite well with the kind of lifestyle that Sam lets the fandom know about from time to time, doesn't it? Doesn't it seem to make their lives consistent?

you know I'm not gonna like tell anyone what to do but uh I was on YouTube last night and I saw a particular video that stood out to me

and like obviously this whole doxxing thing has been going on for a while now but cannot emphasize enough that if you guys get one of these stupid asks that it is better to screenshot it and then inform the people involved before blocking who sent it to you, and the fact full grown ass adults are even answering these let alone not even critical of suddenly being dragged into unconfirmed unsourced drama makes my eyes roll to the back of my head and I gotta say, shout out to everyone who is messaging people to take those asks down but stop reblogging them for yourselves. Please just don't. This person's already a subhuman fucking moron and the second you even mildly imply they aren't acting rational you're added to their hitlist because they're fucking bored and insecure

I just also want to point out this completely demolishes Rapetoy's argument that I could end this all by closing my asks and that i ask for all of this. My asks have been closed since literally Christmas and she immediately escalated to doxxing other people PURELY for telling her she's acting psychotic. Other people simply commenting on my posts "God this person's a loser" or even "wow why are they doing this" and suddenly have their personal information tracked down, their jobs threatened, their locations threatened, their photos taken from their social media and sent to strangers

This was literally always about her being an extremely insecure hurt little girl and the fact you can literally turn your back and not even acknowledge that this thing is even still breathing, not talk to it, not reference it, forget all about it, and you wake up weeks and literally months later and she's still taking hours of every single day to think about you is starting to become legitimately pitiable

When I saw this video drop in my recommended, I knew it was going to disappoint me as someone who has done personal nuzlocke runs before, used to be an active member of the forums, and even still is friends with people from there. And I was right. Look under the read more for my gripes.

To start off, he makes a rather big mistake by stating that the original Ruby Hard Mode run ended in a win, when it definitely did not, and was the basis for the Ruby character going to Kanto to start the FireRed Hard Mode run. That one isn’t one I think is too bad compared to the others, but it’s still something you could easily research on your own. 

He’s also a little wrong about ShiroInu being the earliest person to post a nuzlocke comic on the forums, but I can also forgive him for that. In general, he spends only a small portion of the video on the Nuzlocke Forums before branching out to videos, and I feel that was a misstep. For one, he completely glossed over screenshot runs, which were just as important as comics and written logs in the formation of Nuzlocking’s early years. A lot of people at the time couldn’t afford recording set ups for let’s plays, and screenshotting on VBA was as easy as pie, making Nuzlockes accessible to most people especially those that didn’t want to draw.

I also think it’s a bit peculiar that Kynim wasn’t mentioned at all, when he discussed Nuzlocke comics. Myths of Unova is probably the most popular Nuzlocke comic outside of the original, especially so for one with actual effort put into the art and narrative. We can go on all day and week about other popular comics too like Petty Nuzlocke Challenge, It’s A Hard Life, FireRed Kick-Ass Mode, Double Nuzlocke Series, etc. That not much time is dedicated to the narrative aspect of Nuzlocking in favor of the more technical and challenge-oriented ones is such a shame especially since a lot of history was made on the now-defunct Smackjeeves website. Like, in the video, fucking Emerald Kaizo got its own section while the forums, comics, etc. don’t even get that much respect. Towards the end of that video it was basically summarizing specific Nuzlocke runs from popular YouTubers/streamers, rather than an overall look. 

Moving onto recorded Nuzlockes, it’s really baffling that Marriland wasn’t given an explicit shout out. While he wasn’t one of the first to do a recorded Nuzlocke on YouTube (October 27, 2012), he was one of the first people to upload Let’s Play content on YouTube period, and he was also one of the important figures in Nuzlocking since he invented the Wedlocke challenge. Granted, the Wedlocke was mentioned briefly in a list of variants and his videos were shown in a screenshot of Google, but that’s not enough respect I feel.

Also, I think it’s funny that PokemonChallenges is attributed as the founder of the Hardcore Nuzlocke, that is, a Nuzlocke with the added rules of “no item use in battle” and “no overlevelling against important trainers’ strongest Pokemon.” The video claims Jan invented that in 2016 for his streams, when in fact, people have been using those extra rules well before he did. I also want to note that I don’t really blame Wolfey for this misinformation, since he said in the video that the research was primarily done by pChal and some guy named Drew, which, yeah, makes sense with how biased it is. 

No disrespect to Jaiden, even if I don’t find her content entertaining, but I feel she got a lot of undeserved credit in this video too. Like, obviously the thumbnail having her in the “Then” portion is just clickbait, but to go on in the video and say that “the way that [original Nuzlocke comic creator] and Jaiden share their nuzlockes might be what caused Nuzlocking to take off” is plain wrong in the case of the latter. Like, yes, Jaiden’s 87mil+ video definitely brought it out of the general Pokemon fandom, so that people like Alpharad and Ludwig started doing them, but Nuzlocking took off well before she made the video. In fact, Griffin McElroy made a rather popular Nuzlocke video back in 2016 on Polygon’s YouTube channel.

The video also misattributes certain tricks and strategies to that Drew guy’s Renegade Platinum run, saying that it would “define the meta.” Stuff like the repel trick to manipulate encounters, which is not true at all, since the repel trick has been documented on Bulbapedia since 2010, well before that ROM hack.

Overall, I don’t want to gatekeep the Nuzlocke from anyone, but it’s just sad how it has primarily evolved to just adding on challenge after challenge and treating your Pokemon as pawns (i.e. sending them out to die), as well as optimizing the gameplay to reduce the amount of failure such as by hacking in rare candies to save time grinding (when that basically cheeses the periods between important fights and removes the possibility of something bad happening during grinding), and manipulating encounters (esp. in newer games without grass) to your biggest benefit. If you want to play it that way, that’s fine. The storytelling part of Nuzlocking was such a huge boon in how the challenge got popularized, also the concepts of using Pokemon and strategies you’d have never thought to have try before, so it’s disappointing that it gets overlooked especially in a retrospective like this.

when i was thirteen, I joined a discord server. when i was fourteen, adults asked me to send them hentai as a “joke”. when I was fourteen, I was asked how I masturbate. i was nearly dared to. when I was fourteen, a younger girl took me into a discord. when I was fourteen, I was treated like a prude for not writing underage noncon. when i was fourteen, adult men got me to read a manga filled with rape and gore. when i was fourteen, i talked to people in chats while they posted pornography. when i was fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, i acted like the jailbait lolita archetype because i had been groomed.

when I was young, I discovered dark fiction helped me cope. when I was fourteen, i found out anti shipping existed and self harmed as punishment. when I was fourteen, I thought i was irrdeeemable scum. when I was fourteen, i joined incredibly toxic pro shipping communities, because I felt I deserved it when I was fourteen and people were asking me my kinks, when I was fifteen and people were telling me to kill my self, when I was sixteen and I was nearly groomed in a private channel- groomed for the second time. when i was seventeen i wanted to leave. when i was seventeen, I was harassed for not leaving fast enough. when I was eighteen only then did I feel brave enough to leave. in all those ages, I was pressured into reading things that made me uncomfortable, pressured into debates I couldn’t understand. i was sexualised and objectified.

when I was very, very little, i was shouted at by a family member for being gay. for the rest of my life, i have been fearful of loud noises. when I was a lot older, I forgave him. i do not forgive the others.

i say this to mean- I am not coming at this topic from the point of view of someone unfamiliar with abuse and trauma. i am not coming into things with a bias towards ccs I barely watch. but i am a victim of childhood exploitation. and i am not a girl. many of my abusers, even my groomers were.

what victims does it help to deny the possibility of childhood exploitation outright? silencing child abuse isn’t helpful, it’s what society has done for years. what victims does it serve to instill paranoia and trauma responses as a normal reaction? what victims are you supporting by leeching onto the perfect victim mentality, violently lashing out at the idea of anyone who’s screwed up in any way being abused? what victims do you serve taking screenshots of trauma to laugh at?

it’s anti victim narratives, pure and simple. nothing but. the idea that people can be put away in neat little categories, that abusers cannot also be victims, that abusers cannot also be enablers allows one to become the abuser themselves, to deny their victims any grace because harassing others can simply not be abusive. telling people to be on guard around everyone allows a smug satisfaction, a way to say you won’t be hurt, a way to tell other victims they deserved it for not allowing themselves into a vicious cycle of emotional self harm and paranoia. the perfect victim model allows them to build up shubble into an object, not care about her feelings, ignore what she’s said about the subject to “protect” her, and then to harass any abuse victim who is human, to make victims either angel or devil, never person. mocking other victims allows that dehumanisation, allows us to be a joke, a bad take without context, a thing to amuse yourself.

and who does this help? it helps abusers. immediate hostility only breeds fear to come out about these things, paranoia leads to victims being attacked as much as if not more than abusers, violating someone’s consent to hurt others is in fact a huge reason abuse is so traumatising, and the jokes I’ve seen you make about shelby's situation are vile. truly vile.

and don’t think i haven’t seen people trying to subtly misgender nonbinary ccs. don’t think i haven’t seen people spout gender essentialist stuff. your transphobia is obvious.

and framing it as people attacking each other is another way of subtle victim blaming. one side always initiates. it might not be the same side to another person on tumblr, but it is a side in this fight. people getting angry because you harass them are not agressive, they are not in the wrong. triggering and poking at people will cause them to lash out. not accepting abuse victims boundaries will do that.

I imagine at least those three are married, though, and Eden takes both Wyll and Gale's surnames, distancing himself from his own family's legacy and forging a new one with these people he cares for so deeply.

Favorite Fruit: Raspberries! He likes to snack on them while he works.

Favorite Scent: In many ways, Eden is rather indifferent to smells and doesn't put much thought into picking a favorite. However, he has a fondness for woodsy scents, and a deep-seated aversion to smokey scents.

Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate?: Coffee, all the way, but he has a fondness for a specific flavor of Waterdhavian tea Gale brews for them both sometimes. He's not exactly a connoisseur of tea, though, haha.

Average Sleep Hours: Far too few, haha. Eden tends to work himself to exhaustion rather frequently, and then keep going. Wyll and Gale have become experts at redirecting their husband's attention and convincing him to take a break and rest.

Dogs or Cats: Both! But I think Eden is overall more of a dog person, having grown up around them. Still, he adores Tara.

Dream Trip: When he was younger, Eden wanted to see Rosymorn Monastery, as his mother told him many stories of her studies there on her journey to becoming a cleric. However, as he got older, he became far more agnostic in his beliefs and the idea became much less appealing. He gave up on praying to Lathander after his mom's death, and now he feels mainly just... a vague sense of discomfort and grief when he thinks about the god he was raised with. This only got worse after seeing the monastery during his travels with the group.

So, now Eden wants to see Candlekeep. He desperately wants access to that expansive library and to learn all that he can. At heart, Eden hungers for knowledge above all else.

Amount of Blankets: So many. Eden is always on the chilly side, and that coupled with his chronic joint and muscle pain means he can only really sleep bundled up in a blanket nest. Wyll and Gale have had to make peace with their husband being a blanket hoarder.

Random Facts:

Yes, Eden has a fantasy phd. He basically got a degree in being a wizard... despite not having much ability to use magic himself. His magic is almost entirely from his warlock pact, as besides that he just can't use magic in the way a lot of other mages can.

He also has pretty serious chronic joint pain, made worse when he strains himself using his magic. It's a condition he inherited from his mother, and it's one he's learned to live with and how to accommodate for.

Eden's storyline is a mix of the normal tav story and the Dark Urge storyline. How so? Well. Before the adventure, Eden died, and he's only recently been resurrected at the start... minus many of his memories about who he is and what happened to him. So, on top of all the other shit going on, Eden has to figure out why his brain is full of holes.

Eden's father Abdiel is a very well-known and respected wizard, one that Gale actually was a fan of when he was younger. However, after seeing how horribly Abdiel treats Eden, Gale has left that adoration behind. Never meet your heroes, and all that.

(On a similar note, Wyll originally encouraged Eden to consider forgiving his father and reconnecting with him, which was the cause of a lot of conflict between them in the early days of their relationship. Eventually, though, Wyll came to understand *why* Eden doesn't want to forgive the man who traumatized him and abandoned him, and he respects and supports Eden's decision.)

(Gale and Wyll might or might not have an agreement to make sure Eden never has to even be in the same room as his father ever again. They'll keep him safe.)

i think you’re missing the fundamental fact that scott KNEW about the content ecto posted about.

if you read the doc from ecto, he was given a list of warnings before he followed and supported ectos blog, to which he AGREED

he absolutely was saving face by taking back his support and pretending like he didn’t know

also ecto literally got doxxed directly following the clip of scott retracting support and then when he was told what happened to ecto, told them to get over it as if it was just a bit of normal internet hate

being for/against proship doesn’t matter at this point, it’s basic human decency NOT to dox people. if anyone really cared about it they would have called the bloody police instead rather than putting on such a performance to ruin someone’s career

I perfectly understand having strong feelings on this situation because, yeah, it was a very fucked up mess and thank you for talking about this in a civilized manner. The point on Scott telling Ecto this was just normal internet hate being a bad move on his end and that is basic human decency to not dox someone are actually points that I agree with, and like I've said yeah he should have at least told his audience to not harass Ecto.

But Ecto was already getting doxxed before Scott addressed the situation. Scott addressed the situation on October 9 (even if he doesn't adress who "the artist" is by name, he should had asked his audience to not harass them, even the original account to out Ecto said to not harass them) while Ecto on their document mentions the account ectothrowaway2 on twitter was attempting to find their personal info on the night of the 7th and already getting doxxed on the 8th. (if you meant that the doxxing intensified after Scott's statement then that's a fair point of criticism towards him).

Posting dead dove/don't eat and being a proshipper can overlap on the aspect of dealing with problematic content but they aren't strictly the same. I know people who produce dead dove too might get hate for "condoning problematic content" even when is done from their own trauma or depicting said problematic content in the negative light it deserves. And I agree with the sentiment of not harassing someone of the ships they indulge, but there does come a point where things are not as acceptable (I don't mean by this that past some point is okay to harass someone, just that at some point it becomes something not as justifiable under the lenses of fiction being fiction). Proshipping saddly is a term often used by those who are actually fine with shipping stuff such as underage characters and adults, incest and other problematic dynamics (I myself was not aware of the non-harassing part of the proshipping stance until this situation). What I mean is that they are not 100% mutually inclusive, you can make dead dove content and still think shipping problematic stuff the same way you ship non-problematic stuff is wrong.

Had Ecto mentioned right away they are a proshipper and Scott shown to have no problem with that until this whole situation then he would have absolutely been trying to save face. Ecto themselves mention the user who called them out found their NSFW account through Scott's following list so is not like he kept it a secret that he was following a NSFW artist, especially given the fact Ecto themself would put screenshots of his and Sausage's interactions with their art.

My point on Scott getting so much criticism when he did originally mean to help while Sausage, who was way closer to Ecto than Scott, did nothing yet he hasn't received as much criticism still stands. Sausage has been shouting out Ecto ever since Empires S2 if i recall correctly, they are as known in his community as E. Yet we had no word from him in this whole situation.

Scott deserves criticism for how he acted in this situation, yes, especially when talking to Ecto he should have been more tactful when talking with them in private too. But I don't think the situation is as black and white as him retracting his support for Ecto because it was inconvenient to him. I was disappointed in him too when this first started, him and Sausage, and only retracted my support after actually leaving Ecto messages and comments of support about 2 weeks later when I found out they are a proshipper, and tho I agree (hell even the user who originally called them out agreed this got out of hand) this was too much, I didn't feel comfortable supporting someone who stood for something I don't agree with.

Yes, Ecto didnt deserve all this hate and frankly dangerous treatment towards them. Harassing someone to the point to have to be put on a suicide watch and their carreer ruined this way just because on an opinion on how to deal with media is like deciding the best way to deal with a mosquito is launching a nuke at it. If you find out someone indulges in something you don't approve of the best action to take is to block them and, if necessary, report them. Not harassing, not sending death threats, not trying to find where they live, not NOTHING that happened here

One of the biggest things that I LOVE about fandom is the way that it can bring so many people together through one interest/outlet. People share their artworks, their edits/videos, their stories, their knowledge and inventive takes, etc all enriching this one collective that begins to form because of an idea.

One of the biggest things that FRUSTRATES me about fandom is the blatant disregard for those same people and what they create. Countless times I have seen people reshare an artist’s piece without crediting them or their page, editing down someone’s edit on YouTube and posting clips of it without linking that original video/editor in any way, screenshotting a part of someone’s fanfic and posting it because “this one paragraph is so hot” without stating the title or who wrote it in the first place. The list goes on! And unfortunately we see this countless times where people aren’t giving others their flowers and paying dues where credit is owed, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Why would you bite the hand that feeds you? It’s counterintuitive and honestly lazy, especially knowing it costs $0.00 and takes 2 seconds out of your day to bring credit/traffic back to that original creator/person.

I really appreciate the people that take the time to call out this behavior, make examples out of others to prove a point, and combat this through their own engagement on the internet. I know that can be scary and uncomfortable sometimes, but you are speaking facts and it’s something that needs to be done and clearly shouted on top of a mountain because people still don’t get it?? And unfortunately with the rise of social media and our growing desire for constant output and winning dumb prizes of “creating a hit post”, we step on others in the process to achieve this.

I run this Namor x Shuri blog [and have run other fandom blogs in the past over the years] where I edit and make visuals for shits and giggles, but as an actual artist in real life who makes a living off of my other artwork/profession, this can be VERY discouraging. It makes you not want to participate or contribute to fandom because you witness this incessant behavior and start to form trust issues of whether or not people will be respectful of you, your efforts/time, and your work. Let’s be real, at the end of the day the internet will always internet. People will do and say whatever they want to do, regardless of how it effects you individually. We all understand inherently that there is a risk that naturally comes with putting yourself and your stuff out there online BUT that still doesn’t excuse this type of negligence. There is still a responsibility we all have to 1. making a conscious effort to better our experience with fandoms at large and 2. protecting creatives while we promote, indulge in and support their contributions to the world [fandom or not]. Because if not, what are we doing this all for?

To the people that perpetuate this type of engagement online, STOP. You are discouraging others from wanting to share their ideas/concepts. You are pushing the same people away who actually foster our experiences and excitement with the stories we consume and grow to love. I can’t tell you how surreal it is to go online and see something you created posted on someone else’s page with no credit to who you are or what you made. I’ve seen people make edits of mine as their Twitter banners without even having the decency to ask me, take other people’s artwork and post that as their “fanfic artwork” without asking, all to promote their own story, take clips from compilation videos and post them to TikTok as if to say they edited that video themselves. It’s very frustrating and truly disheartening. As creatives, we appreciate your enthusiasm, but it’s damaging in the way that you are expressing it and you need to do better.

To the people who are enriching our fandoms with their works/ ideas, PLEASE CONTINUE. We appreciate the time that you take out of your day to do what you do. Let’s be real, without you, there wouldn’t be a fandom to engage with in the first place. The biggest piece of advice I can say to you is to always make an effort to protect yourself and your brand [if you care to do so]. Watermark the artwork /videos that you want to be credited for, post a line somewhere on your page/blog/site roughly stating “don’t share/repost my work without my permission” or “credit me if you share my work”, etc. This goes for any type of creative, whether you partake in any fandom or not. There will always be someone doing the wrong thing, so it takes a group to counteract them and do what’s right. With any positive effort, allyship is always needed. IT TAKES A VILLAGE! If you see someone posting someone else’s work and their name/site/blog is nowhere to be found, say something. It doesn’t always take a huge rant, sometimes a subtle response can be just as effective. Under a post you could say “I know right, I love that piece! [artist’s name/link ] did a great job” or “that video is hilarious! The full clip is here [artist’s YouTube/page]” I’ve even seen someone on Twitter recently do something where they post a screenshot of an artist’s piece, cover it up with emojis, post a link to the work and say in their post “this is amazing, you should check it out here”. I think that’s honestly brilliant! They are doing two things at once: sharing the artist’s work/name while also bringing traffic back to that original person. You don’t have to do it that exact same way of course, but it proves the point that there are many ways to engage positively.

Fandom is supposed to be an oasis, where people can seek and find community in their distinctive interests. It should be a place for people to be and express themselves freely and positively. The level of how rewarding a fandom can be is all dependent on YOU. When you do anything, you are always influencing and inspiring someone else, for better or worse. When your sharing someone else’s artwork, are you making a conscious effort to say who made it? Are you asking the artist for permission in the first place? When you are posting a clip you saw from an entire compilation video on YouTube, are you taking the time to say who made it or link the original video [or for that matter, not editing someone else’s fan edit in general]? When you are sharing someone’s story they wrote, are you making an effort to say who wrote it or linking their A03/wattpad? Trust me, it’s the little choices that make the world of a difference.

And finally, to the people who get it who have been doing this and are out here fighting the good fight, we see you. May your pillow always be cold, your acne forever cleared, your day always bright, the head you receive always 10/10, your gas tank always full, and you get a random onion ring every time you order fries. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are very much appreciated. To the people who still don’t get it or choose not to and continue to make fandoms uncomfortable for the people WHO LITERALLY ENRICH IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, I dedicate this part of this song to you, beloved. Rhuna doesn't have many memories of life within the Duergar community, or with her biological family. She spent a large portion of her life with a group a druids who were mostly comprised of Deep Gnomes. They tended to travel between different warrens in the Underdark every seven years or so, and the journey was often perilous and could take months at a time. When they arrived at a new warren, they would begin to establish colonies of different flora, and then when it was well established, they would leave it to grow wild free of cultivation. It was also customary for their deceased to be used to start new fungal colonies.

As for folks to tag, I don't have the gumption right now (though I'd tag my sister so y'all could learn more about Zilvra if she were on tumblr.) However, if you want to jump in on this, please do! I love a good character read, and this one is fun!

All the RE fandom proved while shouting at you was:

1. They have no game and don’t know what flirting looks like.

2. They don’t know what a hobby is.

3. The majority of the Twitter EagleOne side of the fandom are cowards and it’s pathetic.

4. They have a weird relationship with sex and need some serious therapy.

5. Aeon fandom is the second dumbest fandom I’ve ever seen. Absolutely the most self absorbed though. I can see why the rest of the RE fandom hates them. I do too now.

I also 100% believe you’ll be proven right in time. Thanks for having genuine discussions on characters and story arcs on your blog. I truly appreciate it.

The hobby one was really strong. I literally had to bury my face in a pillow to stifle the barking laughter that came out of my face because it was hella early in the morning, and my roommate was still asleep.

It wasn't as funny as the person who literally screencapped someone's tumblr post and circled a paragraph in it and tried to treat it like an objective source of fact that I was stupid for not knowing.

It also wasn't as funny as the person who, without a hint of irony, tried to pass off "Leon couldn't have hit on Ashley in RE4make because of what happens in the original RE4 and also RE6." as a legitimate argument.

And it also wasn't as funny as the person who wrote up and sent me a screenshot of a barely coherent rant in Notepad about how Leon doesn't really even like Ashley as a person, actually, and I'm delusional for thinking he does anything more than tolerate her, and it was steeped with outward misogyny and projection.

But it was still really really strong.

Like, I can't express to you guys in words how genuinely and truly funny some people were about this. It was like people watching at WalMart without having to leave the house.

I've heard that the EagleOne discord has turned on me, though, which is just. Wild. Anyone is free to come talk to me about this at any time, but I'm not going to apologize for Aeon fandom getting butthurt, and I'm also not going to apologize for telling the truth about the canonical nature of the ship. What Aeon fandom feels or does is not our responsibility, and we need to stop acting as though it is.

But here's my discord if anyone wants to take it out on me:

Loving Your Everything

Chapter 1

"One can only look past someone's flaws for so long, and trust me on this, you'll soon grow tired of him too", I said, looking straight into my soon-to-be-married best friend's eyes.

Amanda rolled her eyes. "Not again with this this bullshit", I could see this was starting to get to her nerves. "You're my best friend, Mandy, and the last thing I want for you is to be trapped in a marriage where you WILL eventually lose interest and be miserably stuck in", I insisted. "Look, Kaden isn't like other guys, he's different", Amanda said, her eyes sparkling with love as she spoke about him. "You said the same for Wes, Bjorn, Norman, Sander and who else? Basically all your exes", I said, trying to make her see sense. It wasn't like I disliked Kaden, it was just thart i couldn't imagine Amanda being married to a guy she'd met, 8 months ago.

"Just stop looking at him like my fiance and look at him as your friend for a second. He's kind, loving, and is okay with every single one of my flaws. He's the one, I know it,so please trust me on this one, okay?"

I sighed. "You better not come to me after your fights though, I don't want to hear no stories about your 3 hour fights and what he said about your mother". "I won't", Amanda said, smiling ear to ear.

I so wanted to be happy for her. I knew what I was saying was hurting her, but I simply couldn't help it, and I cursed myself for it. Just because two messed up people in my life couldn't make their marriage function normally, didn't necessarily mean every other couple in the world was destined for the same. And with the wedding date drawing closer, the sooner I'd get it into my thick head, the better. 

"Hey! Watch it!!", Amanda shouted, pulling me out of my thoughts . I looked looked up from my smoothie to see a guy being chased down the street by a mob of girls. "Some Pop Star?", I asked, taking a sip. "Seems like it, look they ruined my outfit", Amanda groaned, showing me the coffee stained skirt. "I'll go to the washroom, wait for me and don't leave without me", She said, quickly getting up and rushing inside the cafe. "You're driving, so I haven't got much choice", I mumbled, pulling out my phone. There were 6 messages from my parents asking when I'd come home. I huffed. There was no way, I'd ever return to that hellhole.

I deleted them, just as another message popped up. "William", I groaned, opening the text to see a screenshot of a section of yet another fight he'd had with his girlfriend.

*you never learn, and this is on you, I'm not helping you anymore*

I angrily typed and hit send.

William was the first person I'd met in Spain, who wanted to be my friend from the get go, but it may have had something to do with me finding him knocked out by his girlfriend after a fight, behind the dumpster of the cafe where we worked.

*Babe, don't do this to me, not right now* He wrote back

*I don't care, I've told you to get over with that abusive psycho for weeks now"

*Fine, we'll see about it later, but can you please come over? My nose is bleeding like it's on a period, bring some tampons for it*

I groaned heavily. "What's up?", Amanda asked, wiping her skirt with a tissue, the stain almost invisible. If there's something special about that girl, it's the fact that she cleans up better than any professional cleaner in the world. "William", I stated, picking up the shopping bags. "Not again", She replied, throwing her head back in exasperation. "That's William for you",I sighed, paying the bill. "Chop chop, let's get moving".

William's relationship with Lily had been a topic for eye rolling and constant groaning for the longest time. She was wild, he was calm and it seemed as like, though they both knew they weren't good for each other, they kept getting back for more. The toxicity of their relationship could be smelt from miles away. Lily wasn't necessarily a bad person, but she had this victim mentality which she'd use to abuse people around her and then make them feel bad for somehow "crossing" her, in the first place.

"Stay here, I'll get them", Mandy said, parking the car in front of a pharmacy and getting out.

At this point, everyone around Will and Lily knew about them and their hardcore toxic love. This only made things worse because it seemed like they enjoyed the attention and worried calls they'd receive. They were equally destructive for each other yet refused to separate.

"Okay, band aids, bandages, antiseptic cream, cold pack, antiseptic wipes, anything else I'm missing anything?"

"His mom's number on speed dial in case it's more serious than he's leading on"

"I mean, how do the first aid items get over so fast? it's like he's fighting a bull every day or something"

"Isn't he?", I said, a smile threatening to break out.

"Ridiculous, but we're his only surviving friends so", Amanda stated, looking into my eyes dead serious, before we both broke out in peals of uncontrollable laughter.

Tonight wasn’t exactly your favourite night, because you entered a party filled with people who don’t even know you and decided to harass you. They continuously called you names that weren’t very nice for someone who just met you and stepped into that party.

And Oikawa would call you crazy for thinking his friends, or acquaintances would call you that, because he made sure no one will ever hurt you. But where was he when you called him to the bathroom? Right. He was taking shots with his new bundle of friends, who were girls, covered in revealing clothing. You weren’t happy with it.

When you’re about to take another sip at the bottle of alcohol in your hand… Your cell rings. Ringing hard against the stone bricks, and you take a glance at the Caller ID… You see ‘Oikawa’ spread across the screen.

You sighed, biting down on your lower lip and pressed answer. “Hello?” You hiccuped.

“You’re wasted. Where are you? I’ve been calling you thr entire hour,” he grumbled. You only snort at his explanation, because he didn’t call you the entire hour. Your phone didn’t even ring the entire walk here, at your safe place. A place you can call home. Your safe haven of anamessises. “That’s not true. My phone didn’t ring the entire fucking walk here to my favourite place, Oikawa. You’re a damn liar,” you snapped.

“Well, I did—” Before he can reply. You added another bite back. “And this is the first time you’re calling me, because I can screenshot my fucking call history and you only happened to only call right now. At 1:01 a.m. So, don’t even try to lie yourself out,” you slurred out. Who was Oikawa to try and be a know-it-all? But clearly, he isn’t. He wasn’t one. And it hurts that he was trying to lie to you, or try to out himself.

“Well, I brought you here to meet my new friends. Not to fucking ditch me. Where the fuck are you?!” Oikawa shouted through the line.

“Don’t fucking shout at me!” You shout back.

He had no reason to be upset with you, because you were doing him a damn favor. And that was leaving him with his new fucking friends. They weren’t all nice to you.They harassed you, making you take your leave out of that shit-hole of a party. And you thought it was a good favor, but clearly, it wasn’t. It never was. Not from you, especially.

“It’s a simple answer. Where were you? I brought you here and the whole time you’re hiding in the damn bathroom. I asked you to be nice to them, but all hear is you calling them names!” He threw something on the other line, making you sigh. Why is it always you getting in trouble and not him? I mean, you were always a good girlfriend. But he makes it nearly impossible to be one.

And why is he yelling at you for something so small? And what is he talking about you calling other people names? You would never do that, whatsoever. “What are you talking about? I never called anyone names! Your friends are fucking lying! I would—”

“Well, girlfriends do too. They lie themselves out of situations that mean nothing to them, and that’s what you’re fucking doing.”

“What do I have to lie about? I’m a good girlfriend. I never fucking lie to you! I never did. So, get your fucking facts straight, you fucking dumbass.”

“No. You get your fucking facts straight, you fucking whore. You always lie, you always do. So, stop trying to lie about my friends! If you don’t want to be honest. We should just fucking break up right now.”

What?

“What?”

“We’re breaking up.”

“No, Oikawa. We’re not fucking breaking up!“

“This isn’t working out. It never was.”

“Oikawa, I never called your friends names! If you’d actually listen to me. Your girlfriend, the one who never dare tries to lie to you. You got to understand that I’ll never lie—” Before you can even explain yourself… He hangs up.

Leaving you to die in your own tears.

“I’ll never lie to you.”

You sit down on the chair at your best friends place, knowing Kageyama will come and get you later. But you weren’t entirely sure if he will, because you ditched his friends party. And he took you there because he was working with one of his friends, making that job an occasional break from volleyball.

And that party he took you to… Was just him and his friends causally talking about new stuff in their careers, and one of those conversations were about girls. And that left you upset with Kageyama, because who even talks about girls, exes or sloppy seconds. What the hell? So, you left him. He didn’t notice, but he probably will… Sooner or later.

Your best friend is upstairs with her boyfriend, leaving you downstairs to drink your alcohol… Alone.

And honestly, being alone can be nice, but being alone 24/7 can be tiring and depressing. But Kageyama never left you alone… Ever. Until now, since you just left him there. When you take a sip out of your beverage, letting the burning liquids go down to your stomach. But suddenly… Your phone rings.

Signalling you that Kageyama has noticed you weren’t there.

“Hello?” You answered the call.

“Is this what you do when you’re pissed? Leave and not fucking tell me? What if someone fucking takes you away? Is that what you want?!” Kageyama snapped. Well, you didn’t want to be taken away from Kageyama… But he didn’t have to tone his voice. He could just be nice about it.

“No.”

“Then, don’t fucking leave.”

“I’m at my best friends. Shut up.”

“And I’m not your best friend?”

He wasn’t about to pull that card right now. He wasn’t about to make you choose who is the best friend and who is the important one.

He can’t do that.

“Of course, you are.”

“And why are you at your other best friends?”

“Because she’s my fucking best friend. What the hell is wrong with you?!” You inhaled a harsh breath. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think it’s cool to be talking about your old girlfriends, sloppy seconds or exes. It fucking hurts, Tobio!”

Kageyama frustratedly sighed into the phone. “I wasn’t the one talking about it. It was my co-workers! Don’t fucking blame this shit on me!” He snapped. Oh, so he’s blaming it on his co-workers? Real big of you, Kageyama.

And he’s probably having one of those tantrums of failure and confrontation. That was something you had to deal with, because he hated it. This always caused the both you to sit in the room, to work it out and make up. To start all over again.

“Okay, blame it on your co-workers! It’s not like I fucking heard it before! Two months ago, you were talking about your exes, because I don’t give off the same energy. I am sorry I am not her and I don’t give off the same energy. But you have to fucking understand that she hurt you!” You screamed.

You and Kageyama never seemed to shut up in an argument, but he always starts it. Making you think it’s your fault… When clearly it never was.

“Don’t bring my exes into this conversation—”

“No. You need stop bringing them up in our arguments! You need to stop making me think I’m a bad girlfriend! I am trying to be there for you and not hurt you, but you always make it look like I started it!”

“But you did. Stop trying to be the fucking victim, you whore. I am sorry your family is literally going to be divorced and split up! But you started it!”

“Literally… Fuck you. Don’t fucking talk about my family like that. Don’t fucking do it.”

“No, fuck you. Fuck you, Y/n. You literally think everything is all fairy’s and sparkling shit. But it isn’t. If you’d actually understand that you’re the only one starting shit between us!”

“Fuck you.”

“I rather not sleep with a whore.”

You wasted no time in hanging up on him.

He always does this.

Hurting you and making it look like it’s your fault.

Maybe it was and you didn’t know, But no one should ever talk about their exes or last relationships like that… They shouldn’t.

Saw your post about where the TGM fandom is and if you're using Tumblr correctly.

I have been on this hellsite (affectionate) for twelve years now so let me share my hard earned knowledge with you:

The first thing you have to remember is that your main dashboard has absolutely NO algorithm. Tumblr does not fill your main dashboard with things it thinks you'll like, you have to find your own. Which means everything you see on your dash is totally dependent on who you follow and what they post and/or reblog. Because people will only see your stuff if a) they're following you b) someone they're following reblogs your stuff or c) they come across your stuff when searching through specific tags. Basically, unlike almost every other social media app/site, likes do absolutely NOTHING for engagement. In fact, most people use likes as a way to save something to read or look at later (that's I use them 99% of the time).

Now for tags, keep in mind that only the first 20 tags on a post are used by Tumblr to make your post searchable. Any tag after 20 is you just shouting into the void because Tumblr won't use those. Lots of people also use the tags to add their commentary on a post they're reblogging so as not to clutter up the original post. And lots of people also use the tags to just shout out their emotions and feels into the void as well.

Some people are extremely methodical and super organized when it comes to tagging their posts, while others either don't tag at all or tag randomly and haphazardly. It's also common for people to have a very specific tag for specific types of posts to make it easier for people to both search and/or block certain types of posts. Examples of those would be people having a specific tag for when a post is about their personal life or using a specific tag for posts that are just about writing or tagging all ask answers with a specific tag.

Also keep in mind that reblogs don't show up in tag searches, only original posts do. But it's still a good idea to tag anything you reblog since people can search your blog for specific tags. Another thing to remember about tags is that anyone can see what tags you use on a reblog (you can sort the notes on a post to show you just reblogs w/comments & tags).

And if you really like someones tags on a post you want to reblog, feel free to either copy them into your reblog or take a screenshot of them and post that to your reblog. Doing so is very common and seen as kind of a badge of honor on Tumblr that someone thought your tags were good enough/funny enough to make sure more people see them. Common things to add when doing so are phrases like "why are you hiding this perfection in the tags?" or "you can't just say that and hide it in the tags". It's also common courtesy to tag the person whose tags you're sharing.

It's also common courtesy that if you want to rant about something you don't like you either a) don't use it's tag or b) tag it as anti-X. For example, there is a ship or fandom you don't like and you decide to post a rant about it. Don't tag it "ship name/fandom" but instead tag it as "anti-ship name/anti-fandom". That way your negative post won't show up when people who do like the thing are searching that particular tag.

Tumblr also likes to be really weird sometimes and randomly hide posts from tags for no apparent reason. And since people from all over the world use Tumblr, sometimes you have to post things at different times of day for more people to see it. It's not uncommon to see someone reblogging their own post with a tag or comment that says something like "reblogging for the morning/evening crowd".

Just remember that for the most part Tumblr is a fun and unique corner of the internet. Hope all of this helps! ☺️
