However, Next-Gen wise...could you be a bit more precise? :0 Do you just mean headcanons for the “inner family” (so parents + siblings) or also how I picture the Next Gens relationship to the extended family members (so grandparents, possible aunts and uncles, grandaunts and uncles and so on?)

Ryoko‘s Family:

Ryoko‘s parents are often really busy (business family and all), especially the mother

Ryoko is an only child

Whenever Ryoko comes home from Totsuki in Holidays, her father is always the one who picks her up

In Ryoko‘s holidays, her parents use every free second to be with their daughter, they defiantly make sure, that they do some activities and be home a lot.

Ryoko and her Mom love to go shopping together

But well Ryoko‘s Grandma lives with them, so Ryoko really spends a lot of time with her and she’s pretty much the family member she’s the closest to

It‘s cute, Ryoko‘s Granny often does Ryoko‘s hair, they cook together, talk a lot, it‘s great

The Sakakis have some heirloom which was given to Ryoko and she treasures whatever it is greatly

Shun‘s Family

Shun‘s mother is already dead, she died of an illness as Shun was 6 years old

Shun is an only child as well

Shun‘s Aunt (the sister of his dad) moved into their house, together with her two childs and her husband.

The cousins are a 9 years old boy and a 5 years old girl.

Shun‘s father is not often at home, most of the time he is on travel. 

Shun really doesn‘t talk a lot with his father, could have something to do with that his father drowns himself in work after the death of his wife. He was not there for his son when he needed him the most (when his mother died) but rather became insanely distant and all, which makes their relationship pretty troubled nowadays. 

Also I headcanon Shun to actually didn‘t wanting to go to Totsuki back then (now he regrets nothing, but well) But his father wanted him to go. This is pretty much also my headcanon why Shun‘s pony is hiding his eyes. Shun, a true rebel, just simply announced he won‘t cut his hair anymore when he has to go to this school.

((He does cuts his hair now, but he just likes his hairstyle now)

His mother was great and loving, Shun really does miss her. She told him bed time stories and often took him for walks trough forests.

Shun‘s Uncle is a lumberjack and his aunt is the one who‘s an expert in smoking.

Zenji‘s Family

Zenji’s father is the one he got his glasses from

Zenji has a big sister

His father works for a bank and his mother works for a food magazine

The Big Sister is 18 years old and wants to be an actress, but she is currently working in their grandfathers book store part time

She loves to tease her lil brother about a ton of things

All of them love to watch documentaries and stuff

Zenji‘s grandfather always loves reading books to his grandchildren and is so happy when they come around, the grandmother is always cooking then

And as I said, the grandparents own a book store. And Zenji spent a lot of times in said book store from a young age on. 

Yuki‘s Family:

Yuki‘s family is full of hunters. So is her father. He is a strong man with a lot of humor, like really.

Yuki has two big brothers. One of them is 24 and the other one is 19. They are really upbeat and love pranking.

Yuki‘s mother is sitting in a wheelchair, after a car accident. She still is full of cheerfullness tough. Yuki phones her every week in Totsuki. The Phone Calls always fill more than a hour

Yuki‘s grandparents own a farm and the whole family always meets up there for Grande Family Meetings 

Yuki‘s two brother are pretty protective about their little sister, she and their mom are the ones, they hold back at most with pranks

Yuki‘s father takes his children to Hunting sometimes

Daigo‘s Family:

Daigo is only living with his mother

His father left his mother, but Daigo had been 2 years old when that happened, so it was just him and mom anyway

Daigo loves his mom and she really is a tough, cool mother who is not up to anyone telling her what to do

Shoji‘s Family:

Shoji‘s father is pretty much rarely at home, out of job reasons. So Shoji is also mostly just with his mother.

His mother is really charming and caring. She is very friendly and has good manners. Shoji always tells her everything.

Shoji also has a little brother, he is very protective of.

Isshiki’s Family (he was not in the original post and I don’t have much for him but meep)

This is not really a headcanon but implied in canon actually, but Isshiki has siblings. I headcanon its 3 brothers

He doesn’t have a particular close relationship to any of them, sadly. They actually always kind off excluded him from all siblings-activities. Also all of them basically saw Isshiki as an obstacle to overcome and that all the praise he receives is annoying and that its sickening how he aces everything so naturally.....

Family Name Headcanons

Erina and Souma both keep their original last names. One of Erina’s conditions after Souma proposed was that she wouldn’t change her name to Yukihira. Growing up, Erina experienced a lot of joy and pain due to her place in the Nakiri family, and she couldn’t imagine living under a different name. Souma was also pretty attached to his last name, and its association with the diner he grew up in, so it was easy for the two of them to agree on this one. 

Erina decides to give their son the surname Yukihira so he can move through the world with relative anonymity if he chooses. However, the name Yukihira has become so famous in culinary circles that it honestly doesn’t make much of a difference. Their son’s best bet when he doesn’t want to be recognized is to go by Saiba, which is usually only known by an older generation of gourmands. 

Akira and Hisako also keep their last names. Hisako will always remain an Arato because that’s the name she earned her degrees under, and Akira keeps the name Hayama as a way of honoring both Jun and the Professor Hayama who formally adopted him. 

The two of them originally didn’t have very strong opinions about which surname their children would take. However, Hisako’s parents annoyed her so much with their talk about their grandchildren having a name “with no worth” and a father who “comes from nowhere” that she decided the kids would all have Hayama as their last name. Their children will automatically go by Shiomi if they’re ever in a situation where they don’t want people to know who they are. 

Alice and Ryo’s whole family goes by the last name Nakiri. After they got married, Ryo changed his legal name to Nakiri, but he still goes by Kurokiba professionally (also, Souma and Akira will always refer to him as Kurokiba). Alice thought it was important for them and their kids to have one family name, and she probably would have changed her name to Kurokiba if it had come to that. 

Takumi and Megumi’s family is generally known as the Aldinis, and that’s the last name that all three of their kids are given. Megumi changed her surname to Aldini when they got married, but she goes by the hyphenated Tadokoro-Aldini in her professional life. 

Isami and Ikumi’s family is known as the Mito-Aldinis. Both of them hyphenated their names, both legally and in common use, when they got married. Isami didn’t want Ikumi to feel like only she had to change her name because she was a woman. Their daughter grew up fully expecting whoever she ended up with to add either Mito or Aldini to their name when she got married. 

Shun and Ryoko’s family is known as the Ibusakis. Ryoko changes her name when they get married, but she is still known as Sakaki in her professional life—mostly because it says ‘Sakaki’ on the labels of all the rice wine and fermented foods she distributes. 

Zenji and Yuki’s family goes by the Maruis. While Yuki did change her last name to Marui when they got married, just about everyone in the world still refers to her as Yoshino Yuki. This is partly because of the alliteration and partly because that’s the name she became semi-famous under while working overseas. Their daughter, Ami, sometimes goes by Yoshino when she’s in a situation where she needs name recognition, but she eventually drops the habit.

Sei is the first son of Ibusaki Shun and Sakaki Ryoko. He has his mother’s magenta hair and father’s slate grey eyes

Hawaiian shirts and Totsuki ties. Hawaiian shirts. He has an incorrigible belief that there is not enough color at Totsuki (obviously he hasn’t seen his hair lol) and therefore only wears the brightest colors possible. Sei can typically be seen in the early morning running daily laps around Legislation wearing his prized Birkenstocks

When he’s in the dorm or at Nakiri Mansion, however, he wears turtlenecks and sweatpants (with Birkenstocks)

Cooking in front of an audience is Seijuro’s true forte. He makes an elaborate live show out of every dish, spinning around in his basketball shorts, Hawaiian shirt, Totsuki tie, and Birkenstocks. Sei does not wear aprons lol but at the Autumn Elections, the Nakiri cousins persuaded Auden to coerce Seijuro into wearing at least semi-formal attire but he showed up in a flamboyant flannel instead. He started getting into Spanish cuisine after he discovered Dia de los Muertos and the colorful calaveras, and he makes a point of making pan de muerto for the Nakiri-PSD members every year to celebrate the holiday. The only death he’s celebrating, though, is the death of Auden’s sanity (more on that later)

By virtue of his parents’ sake and smoked foods empire, he also dabbles in their specialties but he won’t be the heir to their company (working title IbuSakaki if I can arrange the kanji properly LOL). His max is fermenting sake for gang parties but after the SenAudpocalypSei (Sena + Auden + Seijuro + apocalypse), he starts smoking cigarettes and this is what really drives the final wedge between him and Auden

Sei and Auden stagiaire with the brothers Aldini and they learn how to use a mezzaluna. Extremely proficiently

One night he and his best bro Auden get on the drunker side despite both of them being notorious heavyweights, and they go to a tattoo shop and Sei gets six piercings in one ear. And two on the other. He doesn’t even notice until like six days later when one of the helixes on his left ear gets infected

Sei is the girl magnet of the school, and most people assume that he has like 593 girlfriends (or at least 593 girls that he fools around with), but in reality he’s almost always been in love with Marui Sena, and he’s actually not as much of a fuckboy as his reputation explicity states implies. But rep is rep, and he loves being the center of attention, so he lets the rumors spread like wildfire. And he does have a hoe-ish personality but this is completely repressed as soon as Sena transfers into gen 120 for high school

Sei’s one true weakness is his loyalty to Auden and his affections for Sena. Ultimately, his attempt to keep both on either side of him will serve as a catalyst for the SenAudpocalypSei and they’ll tear Totsuki up by its roots

He hangs out with Nakiri Jouichirou a lot (Asahi’s son, 117th gen and serving as the youngest lecturer in the history of Totsuki) and eventually learns the Crossed Knives technique from him. Jou acts more like an older brother than a professor to Sei and they grow extremely close

Kurokiba Auden, would-be Planet Earth narrator

Auden is the only child of Kurokiba Ryo and Nakiri Alice. When he was born, Souma and Erina were in that hazy pre-dating phase and so Alice and Ryo were unsure if the Sorina baby would be named Nakiri or Yukihira. They decided not to name their kid Nakiri Auden because Alice would do anything to avoid a repeat of the Nakiri cousins conflict (she inevitably has lingering resentments from being in Erina’s shadow for the first 18 years of her life) but Auden is the legal heir to the Nakiri-Totsuki Group. Obviously, Ryoali had no idea that Yukihira Kaede would end up not even being in the culinary business lol

The only potential competition for Auden’s inheritance ends up becoming Nakiri Jouichirou, who is the only one in the family from the next era who carries the Nakiri name. But Jouichirou is completely disinterested in running the empire so Auden has no trouble assuming the throne later on

Auden’s eyes are different reds. His heterochromia isn’t as noticeable as Kaede’s but his left eye is a few shades darker than his right. Especially after he joins the Elite Ten and gets no sleep (dark circles lol), he looks exactly like his dad but with shorter hair (think Central Arc but shorter). He uses his dad’s bandana on occasion but it only returns him to normal function. His voice is literal heaven. He could’ve been a narrator for Planet Earth.

He’s extremely soft and mild mannered, with none of his mother’s (and his father’s, to be fair) eccentricities. Auden is the most responsible out of the Elite Ten and pretty much the entire cast of the Genesis verse, 92′ers included. He has no emotional extrema (part of the reason why the bandana hardly affects him) and this is a relief for his parents, because it lessens his chances of dissociation and fugue

Auden specializes in Danish cuisine from a bit of a molecular standpoint, resulting from his time in the lab with his mom

In his second year of middle school, he dips a week to compete at national swim competition in Osaka and easily wins. He’s sponsored by Totsuki’s Sports Association and its founder/pres, Luc Tadokoro-Aldini

When he was younger, Auden spent a lot of time with Auntie Hisako, who drilled a whole bunch of medicinal knowledge into him because being a Ryoali child is a hazardous occupation so later when he meets Sei he finds out abt his smoking (Auden thought smoking as in cigarettes but Sei meant smoking as in food) and makes Sei promise not to smoke. It’s their first and only promise as best bros, and Sei picking up cigarettes in 3rd year pretty much destroys their friendship

Auden cuts the sleeves off of every t-shirt he owns, and ripped jeans are kind of his thing. Unlike Seijuro, who at least wears the Totsuki tie, Auden does not own a single article of the school uniform lol but Dean Hayama pretends not to notice

His goal is to be head chef for one of Tsukasa Eishi’s restaurants. This is pretty much the trigger for SenAudpocalypSei

I won’t go into too much detail about the SenAudpocalypSei bc that’ll take center stage in Renaissance anyhow but a vague summary is that Auden puts his career over his friends and Sei completely loses faith in him. Although the conflict stems from Auden’s career goals, it ends up revolving mostly around the love triangle between Seijuro, Auden, and Sena; ultimately they destroy a lot of the Totsuki dynamic that developed under Arato-Hayama Hikari’s tenure as first seat

They marry near a forest (Yuki joked they were like a fairy-couple) and in spring, so you see all bloom and let’s just say it’s also a location that has a few cherry trees standing around

After a quick public vote on discord, I’d choose Barcelona for honeymoon. I feel Ryoko would love the warm weather and the aesthetics of Barcelona and just how lively the city is. Also, I’ve been to Barcelona and it’s quite romantic at evening/night imo. I think Shun would find his appreciation in the artwork of the city as well as well as the food and Ryoko is happy and that makes him happy as well.

Hi! I’m not sure if you submitted this for the angst hcs, but I will do it anyways! Thanks so much for this :) Sorry if it’s not very…angsty

Isshiki invites all of them to a summer festival, seeing it as a good opportunity for Nene to become close with his friends

Nene felt really awkward going on the date, especially considering she was the one that expelled both Shun and Ryoko during the exams

Ryoko assures her that there are no hard feelings. However, Shun still has some issues with her and this causes tension

Ryoko and Nene end up getting lost in the crowd, separated from the guys

The boys haven’t seen them in a while and they start to get really worried

A group of thugs tries to isolate the two girls, thinking they would be easy to gang up on

Haha, psych! You best believe Nene and Ryoko beat their butts into submission

Isshiki and Ibusaki find the girls, and the thugs get a second helping to a beat down (mainly from Shun, while Isshiki gives a bunch of menacing looks)

Shun tries to act nonchalant about the whole thing, but he is secretly super relieved to know she is safe

Ryoko sees this and apologizes for letting go of his hand inside the crowd

Isshiki, on the other hand, has no problem suffocating hugging Nene, much to her tsuntsun dismay

Shun thanks Nene for sticking with Ryoko and for keeping the both of them safe. This seems to squash the beef between the two of them and redeem Nene in his eyes

There is still some time left before the festival ends, so they all enjoy some food at the end. Isshiki goes on and on about how worried Shun was to the girls, making both Ryoko and Shun blush
