Part 2 FFXII x Pokemon

Here is a link to the rules I made if it's your first time tuning in. Along with Part 1 which features Judge Ghis and Judge Bergan.

For the most badass lady Judge. I wanted Drace to have a team that was elegant but not a pushover by any means. She has two Pokemon that evolve via high friendship which I also think suits her. She wouldn't see Pokemon as tools but close allies and friends instead.

I will not lie and pretend that making a team for Zargabaath was easy. But I figured that the most normal of the Judges should have some Normal type Pokemon to reflect this. Yet he still has some of the elements I wanted for the rest of the Judges as well.

Let's start with Drace.

Leavanny (Bug/Grass)

This is Drace's first fun choice. Leavanny's design reminded me of Drace's armour they both have a sort of skirt and prominent covered legs and also a high collar.

The 'Nurturing Pokemon' to represent her relationship with Larsa.

In this crossover I associate the Grass type with healing as moves like Leech Seed can restore HP. They are immune to powder moves like Sleep/Poison/etc. With the added bonus of Bug type moves that can accomplish the same thing with Leech Life, among others. In trial mode Drace will restore HP to the other Judges.

Lucario (Fighting/Steel)

First of all, I can see Drace with a dutiful Riolu who she would teach so much to and be very proud when it evolved into a Lucario.

The Steel type as I have mentioned before makes me think of the armour the Judges wear.

Most of all I chose Lucario because when I think of Drace I am reminded of justice. Along with her willingness to see Vayne for who he was and not having blind loyalty to him. Just as Lucario is able to see the aura of all living things, Drace is able to see things as they are. But most of all Lucario's dex entry describes it as 'only those with justice in their hearts can earn its trust', and Drace embodies justice the most out of all the Judges.

Wyrdeer (Normal/Psychic)

Normal subtype because like Bergan, Drace is the second most normal of the Judges. The Psychic type is to represent the spell Shock which does non elemental damage that Drace can use in trial mode.

Wyrdeer also has the ability to 'erect invisible barriers' which are similar to buffs since they're not visible. On the theme of that this Pokemon can learn Agility (for Haste), Reflect (for Protect), and Light Screen (for Shell); all buffs Drace herself uses.

Lastly, Wyrdeer has those lovely black orbs on its antlers which reminded me of the spherical elements on Drace's helmet.

Shiny Haxorus (Dragon)

Shiny Haxorus is black and red, the same colours as the cloak bearing the Archadian symbol the Judges wear. National pride!

Haxorus is not to be underestimated as a powerful dragon, but it is described as 'kind but relentless when defending its territory.' Which I think suits Drace, she is kind but she is not blind and it is certainly not a weakness.

Haxorus is also 'covered in hard armour' just as Drace is.

And considering her name is close to Draco that I felt she needed a dragon of her own.

Yamper (Electric)

This is the second fun choice and admittedly maybe it is the English accent and being a distinguished lady of noble bearing, but I can't shake the idea of her having a corgi.

Type wise it does offer her coverage against other Pokemon and please imagine her with a cute but dignified dog bed in her office for Yamper to sit and sleep on.

The Galar region is inspired by the UK and I feel like with all the English accents that a Pokemon from that region would likely be in Archadia itself.

Rapidash (Fire)

A regal and dignified Pokemon for Drace was a must. I also wanted to give her a Fire type because she is vocal and speaks her mind! "Spare me your lies! I see the serpent coiled before me."

For a few honourable mentions Dragonair, Swanna and Magearna has Drace's look but it's a legendary so a no go.

Now for Zargabaath himself.

Walrein (Ice/Water)

Appearance wise Walrein's tusks reminded me of Zargabaath's helmet.

Zargabaath personality wise is reserved and he strikes me as not being quick to act. He takes time to consider facts and doesn't rush to judgement. A slow but steady Pokemon would be appreciated by him.

Walrein's dex entries describe it as 'having thick blubber that make enemy attacks bounce off of it' much like the protection the Judge's armour provides. It is also mentioned that 'to protect its herd, the leader battles anything that invades its territory' much like the threat of the Rozarria invasion that Zargabaath's fleet was made for.

Shiny Golurk (Ground/Ghost)

Golurk might seem like a strange choice at first but as with Ghis I wanted Zargabaath to have a team member reflect Alexander like his airship. Alexander is described as being an 'ancient weapon imbued with sacred power.' There aren’t many Pokemon that are considered holy (let alone one that isn't a legendary), but Golurk fits the bill. It is called the 'Automation Pokemon' and was made by ancient people.

Golurk is also capable of learning flying moves to soar through the skies just like the airship does. We also have a bonus Ground type for a man who is very well grounded.

Furfrou (Normal)

We have our first fun choice! Furfrou's ears also reminded me of Zargabaath's helmet. Somehow I can picture him with a poodle.

Furfrou's ability Fur Coat halves damage from physical attacks which would certainly be useful and similar to armour. As I mentioned before, for the most normal of the Judges Zargabaath would see the value in Normal types. They have only one weakness.

Furfrou's dex entries also explain that 'historically these Pokemon were the designated guardians of the king'. In many ways is what the Judges do protecting Archadia and House Solidor.

Sirfetch'd (Fighting)

In many ways the Judges are knights and a perfect Pokemon to represent this is Sirfetch'd. Knights come in all sorts of forms but Zargabaath is honourable and loyal to his nation as a whole rather than any single leader and a noble. A calm and collected Pokemon is fitting for that.

Sirfetch'd has a dex entry that describes 'the leek is both weapon and food'. That is a pragmatic and practical approach that in my mind works with Zargabaath.

Gumshoos (Normal)

Our second fun choice is another Normal type, you guessed it. Gumshoos name comes from gumshoe, a detective which is also associated with the law as Judges are.

Zargabaath is the oldest of the Judges and Gumshoos has the 'old man pose' with its arms behind its back.

While Gumshoos are not especially successful with their hunting, they 'boast incredible patience' which Zargabaath certainly is the patient type as well.

Magnezone (Electric/Steel)

We have Steel type for the Judges armour. While Magnezone doesn't have any dex entries that identify it as being related with law and justice, any who played the Mystery Dungeon games will know that Magnezone is often related to a sort of police force. Which is not all that different than the Judges involvement in enforcing Archadian law.

Magnezone also is described as using 'radar to monitor its territory. Intruders are quickly disposed of.' We can relate that to the 12th Fleet that Zargabaath leads that is the defence against an invasion from Rozarria.

For honourable mentions we have Zangoose (which was solely for the stripes it has similar to Zargabaath's armour), Skarmory, and Watchog.

This is a little bit different than the kind of content I’ve been putting out, but as someone who is very invested in Pokémon design, I have a lot of opinions.

First off, I believe the sentiment behind this picture is that old fighting types are good and new fighting types are bad. So going off of that, I have to say I disagree. The Gen 1 fighting-types all fall under the umbrella of “martial artists” in some way, shape, or form. However, there are some traits from the Gen 1 fighting types that carry over to the newer, “bad”, fighting types.

First is aggression, exemplified perfectly by Primeape. Most of the new gen fighting types pictured are designed around the fact that they are aggressive. Past paradox Pokémon like Slither Wing and Great Tusk are known to be dangerous and their aggressive behavior is THE REASON we have to shut down the Time Machine in Area Zero. Paldean Tauros is pretty self explanatory especially if you have had to deal with them charging you in the overworld. Even many fighting type specialists portray aggression in their facial expressions and posing.

Another trait that fighting types embody is physical strength and athleticism. Machamp embodies this, as well as other fighting types like Buzzwole and Passimian. Even Meloetta’s pirouette forme and Hisuian Liligant gain the fighting type even though their inspiration comes from dance!

Finally, we have the oddballs like Flamigo and Keldeo. Understanding their inspiration and lore will explain the typing for you! Flamigo, for example, live in flocks that synchronize their fighting moves to attack other Pokémon in the wild. A large part of their lore is the way they fight so fighting type makes sense. Keldeo, along with the other swords of Justice, are based off of the Three Musketeers with Keldeo representing the young fourth member, D’Artagnan. Much like *Zamazenta* and Sirfetch’d, the fighting type is derived from the Pokémon’s association with a weapon and it’s status as a type of defender.

So while I understand that current fighting types don’t always fit the “humanoid punching guy” archetype, it doesn’t have to. Also, Breloom is a fighting type but I don’t see anyone raising any eyebrows at that thing.

how funny would it be if I took ash ketchum, genderbent him, then shoved him into twst where the running gag with her is that the only thing I changed is her gender, and NOTHING ELSE, so everyone thinks she’s a guy and anyone who ends up finding out is in denial lmaooo

like, for real, the only difference is that ash is a girl, and everything that happens in canon happens, and NOTHING CHANGES AT ALL

I came up with the idea then I laughed and a whole bunch of ideas came afterwards and now I’m already making a fic, but pls tell me that I’m not the only one who’d laugh at this 😥😅

i saw someone else on this account give two time a pokemon team, so i got inspired and now im giving every survivor/killer a partner pokemon

survivors:

Noob- munchlax. munchlax is known for eating things, and all noobs abilities are food based, so i assume they like food. generally i just see noob having a lot of normal types 

Elliot- chansey! chansey give the eggs that they carry to other people/pokemon to heal them, kind of like how elliot gives out pizza. elliot is a nurse joy confirmed

Two Time- the anon that inspired this said they would have a shedinja, and i think that’s fitting. or they’d have a mimikyu, because it fits with the whole “second life” thing with its disguise ability. generally i see two time being a ghost type trainer 

Chance- Meowth. it loves coins, aka MONEYYYY which i imagine as a gambler chance also loves. he’d probably try to get rich using payday.

007n7- Porygon Z! porygon Z is a pokemon essentially made out of corrupt code, which fits with 7n7 being a hacker

Builderman- Machamp. In the anime/games machamp are often shown being construction workers, so i think they fit buildermans vibe.

Shedletsky- Sirfetch’d. It’s a bird with a sword, and i see a lot of people make shedletsky some sort of bird creature. ignore how it’s a duck and not a chicken tho

Dusekkar- Gardevoir. I definitely see him being a psychic type trainer, and gardevoir are known for using their powers to protect people, similar to Dueskkar

Guest1337- Arcanine. In the anime growlithe/arcanine are often used as police dogs, so i can see them being used military wise as well. also 1337 just feels like a dog lover to me

Killers:

Jason: Dragalge. this one’s mainly based off vibes, but i think it fits. i wanted to give him some kind of pokemon that lives in the water, bc in the friday the 13th movies jason is someone who drowned and spends his time lurking around in a lake

1x1x1x1: Banette. a doll that was so full of hate after being abandoned, it came to life! very fitting for mr. embodiment of hatred

c00lkid: Rotom! A pokemon who causes mayhem and chaos by messing with technology. fitting for a chaotic hacker! 

John Doe-this one was difficult, but eventually i settled on hydreigon. a big scary monster with nothing on its mind but destruction, kind of like john.

and for some of the skins who are kind of their own characters:

Bluudude has a shiny rotom, just to show c00lkid up.

Roachas would have a trevenant, evil ass tree possessed by the dead soul of a child. if you know the ARG you know why that’s fitting 

Mafioso would have a honchcrow. bird that’s a mafia boss, it even sort of looks like him. or you can give him a scorbunny if u want him to have a rabbit

Wish I knew anything about Pokemon so I could understand this.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to have Pokemon that look like sweets or food, as Big Mom wouldn’t hesitate to eat them lol! I’ll see what I can work with for a Pokemon team!

-You didn’t know what to make of this strange new world you woke up in, luckily with your team right beside you, so you weren’t alone!

-This island was like something out of a fairy tale, everything being made of sweets and everyone was just as strange looking with odd abilities from something called Devil Fruits.

-You complied with the guards who found you, calling you an intruder, as you told them you didn’t know how you got there, but they didn’t rough you up, which was nice as you were brought before the leader of this island, Big Mom.

-She wasn’t really sure of what to make of you either, as you didn’t look like someone who was from the island, and her eldest son, Katakuri, couldn’t sense you, like you had no presence.

-You explained how you had been battling someone and you took a Hyper Beam then you woke up here in this new world.

-Big Mom loved the idea of having someone from another world, immediately welcoming you, which in turn, turned everyone who was hostile towards you friendly, as you learned most of the people here were part of Big Mom’s family.

-When they asked you what you had meant by battling, you explained you were a Pokemon trainer, and you called out your team, Tsareena, Sirfetch’d, Ceruledge, Bewear, Galarian Rapidash, and Mabosstiff who all called out.

-They had never seen creatures like this before and Katakuri, despite not being able to actually sense them, could tell they were all strong, in their own ways.

-You did a mock battle for Big Mom, Katakuri, and many of the other children of Big Mom, pitting Tsareena against your Bewear, telling them to battle as they wanted, to not only show off but to get some exercise as well.

-To see the different attacks was so unique but everyone was watching in awe, loving to see such fantastic creatures. Big Mom stated she wanted her own Pokemon, but while initially annoyed and upset that there were no other Pokemon in this world besides your own, since you came from another world, she was content in just admiring your Pokemon.

-Katakuri kept close to you, mainly because he wasn’t completely sure if you were a threat or not, since he couldn’t sense you, but he wasn’t cruel to you, he just kind of followed and observed from afar.

-He saw that you were a hard-worker, taking care of your team, preparing meals, teaching children who came to learn about your Pokemon, and seeing how kind and gentle you were to others around you.

-He had trouble understanding, you had a team of powerful creatures, ones that could help you become a dangerous person, a threat to his family, but that’s the thing, you weren’t- you were content making friends, caring for your partners, and just being there, you weren’t dangerous.

-That’s when Katakuri paid more attention to you, seeing how you were doing your best in this new world, learning about the things and people around you, and he grew closer over time.

-You didn’t put him up on a pedestal like his family did, you just treated him like a normal person, welcoming him to your picnics with your Pokemon, thinking he wanted to know more about them like everyone else, but while he did admire their strength, he was more interested in you, wanting to know more about you.

-You were a little shy when he told you this, which he thought was cute, but he was polite and you couldn’t help but like him, especially when he brought donuts for the two of you to share.

-Katakuri was nervous when it was just the two of you and your Pokemon, when he brought donuts to share again, when he showed you his face. While a bit surprised, seeing his teeth, you were quickly smiling, “You look so cool!!”

-Katakuri spent the remainder of the picnic covering his bright red face with his hands, unable to take such kind compliments, which you thought was rather cute.

-Despite being in a new world, you were happy to have your partners there with you, but you also enjoyed having new friends in this world, ones that accepted you for you, flaws and all, just as you accepted them.

Ace- Gliscor

Ace is completely confused about Gliscor, and is also low key terrified

I mean, the way the met, Gliscor literally swooped in and picked Ace up and into the air

so while Ash and Gliscor are laughing their butts off, Ace is up in the air, scarred for life

also doesn't help when Ash explains the dex entry about how silent and deadly Gliscor is

let him down!

Ash sorta starts to take pity on him and makes Gliscor put him down, but now whenever Ace shows up, Gliscor will always be there to swoop him into a 'hug'

spare him pls (lmao no)

Deuce- Sceptile

as Sceptile stared at the poor boy, there was only one thought in his head

SO COOL!!!

meanwhile, Sceptile's looking at him like "who's this weird lost child?"

"the one that destroyed the chandelier"

"a h"

Takes a while, but Deuce manages to just barely get Sceptile to warm up to him

the two then have this weird truce, mainly because Sceptile kind of likes him if he ignores the dumbassery

totally has the same "talk shit, get hit" vibes Deuce gets, so there's a sort of unity the two gain when protecting Ash/when they just generally get pissed off

Deuce watches Sceptile use his moves and he's awestruck, lmao

"No Deuce, you can't learn Leaf Blade..." -Ash Ketchum

Sceptile sorta just keeps to himself for the most part though

they can actually coexist in the same room unlike Ace and every single one of Ash's pokemon lmao

Jack- Lycanroc

a wolf, with rocks in it???

doesn’t it hurt?

and he gets his answer when Lycanroc loses its mind when he tries to pet it

"yeah, don't do that, Lycanroc hates it when people or pokemon mess up his fur"

"oh NOW you tell me" meanwhile he's got a rock painfully poking his side

Ash explains how Lycanroc actually went on full rampages whenever he got dirty, and Jack is glad he didn't get an Accelrock to the face

it takes a bit, but Lycanroc does warm up to Jack more than the rest of Ash's pokemon, mainly because wolf solidarity

if Ash is hanging out with Jack, then you best believe that Lycanroc is close by

Epel- Gible

a baby?

watched the baby pull a draco meteor and epel regrets underestimating him

is lowkey concerned when Gible just begins chewing on Ash's head, but she acts like she doesn't feel it, so he sorta just stands there

out of all of Ash's Pokemon, Gible is one of the few to warm up to the guys quite quickly

Gible bites epel too jbksjahjds

Vil, upon seeing the marks, has a heart attack lmao

but in all seriousness, Gible actually really likes Gible, and the dragon is growing on Epel, so if he ever does get bit again, he literally just shrugs it off

it's how Gible shows his affection, VIL

Ortho- Krookodile

this is probably the weirdest pairing

saw Krookodile and thought he was the coolest ever, especially with his sunglasses

enjoys watching Krookodile train with all of Ash's other strong/fully evolved pokemon, especially since he can record data for himself later

with such a wide movepool (knowing Dragon Claw, Aerial Ace, Dig, and Stone Edge) Ortho is in awe

100% the two would power up a death laser/Stone Edge in an attempt to destroy the school together

the amount of pictures he has with Krookodile is astounding, Idia is lowkey jealous

his personal fave is of him with Krookodile and they both have sunglasses on, looking cool

Sebek- Sirfetch’d

A BATTLE OF KNIGHTS

Sirfetch’d does not like Sebek one bit XD

Sebek is too loud for Sirfetch'd, and he insults their trainer any chance he gets

HOW DARE-

i wouldn't be surprised if Sirfetch'd has attacked Sebek on multiple occasions lol

even then, i'm pretty sure Sebek takes it as a challenge and tries to fight back, despite Ash's warnings

every time he gets his ass kicked though, he blames Ash for it, and at one point, homegirl just picks him up and tosses him across the yard

Sirfetch'd is laughing and Sebek would be lying if he said he wasn't scared (because he was)

girl can carry and throw a tree, idk why he wasn't scared before dwbjsksm

slowly learns to respect Ash and her ability to keep up with her Pokemon

grows to tolerate Sirfetch'd, and same is said for the 'mon

but the tensions is definitely still there lmao

What would the travelers Pokémon teams be?

I can totally see Alfyn having a Blissey. Therion seems like he’d have a Gengar, potentially.

ok. upon literally hours of deliberation and team building (i actually already had ones for the OT1 travelers but decided to revisit them and change a few picks) me and my bestie @snailcruncher have settled on some teams. i will be going in depth on reasonings for these so prepare for a long post lol. im gonna put it under a readmore because really im not joking about how long it is

we also came up with some ideas/lore for why some of these would be picked in a pokemon AU setting, so i’ll be explaining any of those thoughts if they’re relevant too.

Ophilia:

one of the only teams left untouched, I think this is a good batch for her. i’m imagining a scenario where the sacred flame takes the form of a pokemon, and it’s a lampent. frosmoth and togetic felt just like… the right vibe. Lapras and Ampharos both have associations with guiding, so they’re in. Audino is a notable healing pokemon, and it feels in line with her personality as well.

Cyrus:

Alakazam for mr high iq smart guy. duh. oranguru for his role as a teacher, and Runerigus would be a late acquisition to his team in his ch4. Flareon, Glaceon, and Jolteon for the 3 scholar spell types. i also think him having 3 eeveelutions could also be kind of like, they’re really good for demonstrations for single-type stuff, as well as being popular with others. people might come up to him and be like omg you have a flareon i love flareon pleaseeee tell me more (flirtily) which of course would go over his head and he would start telling you flareon facts. I feel like Cyrus would excel in double battles.

Tressa:

Meowth: the pay day signature pokemon. this is as close as i can replicate to tressa randomly finding money. Skwovet (she can now take her pet squirrel with her in a pokeball)

Gyrados for sure. one, she lives along an ocean, so she should definitely have a water type, two, i’m imagining a scenario where she buys a magikarp cheap, seeing the potential in it, then raises it into a real powerhouse. just like her!

carbink: really funny scenario me and the bestie came up with that instead of eldrite the treasure was diancieite. the carbink is from the same cave. tressa did try to evolve it with the diancieite. it didn’t work.

pidgeot… felt like she needed a flying type (wind magic rep) and i feel like she’d gravitate to the humbler normal types… doesn’t get much more straightforward than pidgeot. Dhelmise… maybe it used to be captain leons, maybe she fished it out of the harbor in rippletide herself. either way, she thinks it’s cool

Olberic:

Aegislash: sword form, shield form…. this pokemon itself is the unbending blade. obviously i have given him several other sword based pokemon, too.

gallade, escavalier, and sirfetch’d badically all fit this. they’re knight-like, so they feel fitting i think to him.

as for conkeldurr and garganacl, they feel kind of… solidly built. like him. ( ⬇️ garganacl pick lore)

Primrose:

almost all of her pokemon can learn some kind of dance though their level up. Oricorio is the obvious choice, dragonair reps dragon dance, beautifly reps quiver dance, and lilligant… well they can learn so fucking many. we couldn’t decide on which one to give her, so we ended up giving her both. they’re her backup dancers or whatever.

mawile just feels very primrose to me. its cute or pretty or whatever, and you might underestimate it… but watch out. it bites.

Alfyn:

he feels like a guy who loves a big fluffy dog. and stoutland has also been used in games for its ability to sniff out items, so it feels like it’d be a good pick for an apothecary looking to sniff out herbs and such. Comfey is an obvious pick, i mean its signature move is. floral healing. meganium also has mentioned in its dex entries its healing and calming properties. it’s also a cool as fuck dinosaur so i think alfyn would like it.

chatot. does this even need explanation

we also wanted to give him an ice type, and settled on cubchoo. it has a perpetually runny nose… even Alfyn can’t fix it, try as he might.

as for leavanny, we had some trouble picking the last slot on this team. we were looking through friendship evos, and leavanny caught my eye. it’s dex entries mention that it’s very gentle, it also shows no mercy to foes who target young pokemon. seems fitting… we decided alfyn got it as a swadloon (maybe it could be taught to use its sewing abilities to dress wounds?) and it evolved during his ch3.

Therion:

I think Krookodile, mimikyu, and klefki are quite obvious picks, so i won’t go too in on them. Ninjask and Shedinja…. Ninjask is super speedy, so it felt right to give one to therion, but also i feel like.. he’d keep the shedinja around. even with 1 hp and one billion weaknesses… it’s still a part of his team. it and ninjask were born from the same nincada. he couldn’t abandon it like that.

and applin lol. something about therion gives me “guy who’s going for a cool as fuck hydrapple and ends up with an appletun actually”

H’aanit:

If anyone’s allowed to have legendaries, it’s the hunters. Chien-pao is as close as we can get to a snow leopard. and yeah maybe it’s a little evil but H’aanit is built different. Decidueye feels like an obvious pick, and spirit shackle is a great signature move for the h’aanit vibe. trapinch for. leghold trap. kilowattrel is literally a thunderbird. and ariados… well, it has the ability sniper, to reference hunter’s crit boosting abilities, as well as having some trapping moves like webs. for the Hunters, I’ve left their last spot blank, but this just means like, a “flex” spot that would be different each time you battled them. H’aanits got boxes of options to choose from.

now, onto the OT2 ones!

Ochette:

I’m sure you can see what i’m going for here. it’s just the closest i could get to Akala/mahina and her 3 story beasts. and again, like H’aanit, the last spot is “flex” not empty, so imagine her bringing some different new bullshit to every battle.

Cassti:

i wanted to do a few things with Castti: obviously, give her some healing-y mons, but also a few oddball picks that might have you looking twice. picked Shiinotic because of its ominous dex entries, and then. toedscruel because i realize shiinotic actuallt doesn’t get spore i think? and i think castti “put em to sleep right in the street” florenz should have a mon with spore. (edit. i actually just cant read the bulbapedia tables and shiinotic does get spore. anyways she gets two spore mons i guess cuz what if she’s gotta knock out two people at the same time. or whatever. dustox emits toxic powder from its wings, which seems like it could be something castti would want to keep on hand for poison axe. these three might seem a little weird tho, and reinforce her bad first impression in canalbrine, even though i’m sure they’d all be very well behaved and nice. Blissey and Arboliva are straightforward healing picks. I feel like these would be common for apothecaries to have in general.

and then galar-slowking. poison-activated brain nonsense. i feel like she acquires this one post-amnesia. they feel a kinship with each other.

Throné

Throné’s team is half-blacksnakes dedicated, half catered to herself. Every blacksnake has a seviper or an ekans, as well as probably most of them also having other grunt-esque pokemon, like zubats and such. throné’s taken care of hers, though, and friendship evolved it into a crobat.

chose furfrou because i think throné would like a prissy little dog she can dress up cutely. milcery, which she’s waiting on evolving until she can figure out what alcremie form she wants, and a shade-cherrim.

oh, and zangoose, of course. the natural enemy of sevipers. one appeared to her right after she left new delsta. what a sign, right?

Osvald:

Osvald we had some interesting stuff to work with, I think. we decided that most of his pokemon were newly acquired after his prison escape- not on purpose. they seem to just take a liking to him and start following him around.

the avalugg helped get him out of the frozen water at cape cold, and then stuck with him.

the teddiursa.. also just stuck with him. we wanted to give him something that felt a little oddball for him… so this doesn’t evolve. it stays cute and unevolved forever.

the shuppet was found hovering around the ruins of Osvald’s house. he was reluctant to take it, but if it was formed out of some semblance of his desire for vengeance… he has to be responsible for it.

the Indeedee is the only one of osvalds old pokemon, out of this lineup. since indeedee are so helpful to people, it was kind of a family pokemon acquired after elena’s birth (dex mentions they’re good at babysitting.) Osvald could probably also trust it with simple lab assistant tasks like moving stuff around. was a very beloved pokemon within their family. anyways, following his sentencing, clarissa managed to get ahold of the indeedee and took care of it all this time. when osvald returns, it’s clear it wants him to take her with him.

the drampa was acquired after the events of montwise, having shown up and basically just forced itself to go with osvald. somehow it seems to know what’s going on and who it can trust…

and slowking.. well, smart guy needs a smart pokemon. it’s another one that took a shine to him, though at that point he was getting used to this happening.

Partitio:

Talonflame: partitio’s aptitude for fire magic and the “chickadee” nickname made this an obvious choice for an ace. I can imagine a young partitio’s first pokemon being a fletchling, for sure.

bramblegast. the funny tumbleweed. put it on the team immediately.

Milotic: Paritio picked up a feebas. having a knack for seeing the potential in pokemon, he wasn’t wrong, and now hes got this thing. it’s very popular with other people, though it seems an odd pick for partito at first glance to strangers.

armarouge: ok this one’s a little convoluted so i will explain it later. kind of vibes based pick tho lol. revavroom kind of. uhh. steam engine. (we can pretend)

there ain’t a more partitio pokemon out there than gholdengo. everyone say thank you scarvi for giving partitio most of his team.

Agnea:

hey, it’s another oricorio! i think you can guess why.

volcarona: learns fiery dance, but we thought up even more lore on this one. the larvesta was a family pokemon. mostly belonging to Garud (we ended up deciding that the Bristarnis had a lot of bug types, who help out with the sewing stuff and larvesta does give a little bit silkworm, lol..)

anyways, part of his blessing for sending agnea off was telling her to take the larvesta, who also turned out to be a dazzling star in the end too… after a lot of hard work.

altaria and leafeon rep dragon and swords dance. i just feel like they’re good picks for her energy, too. lunatone reps the moonstep. I’ve also opted to give her a sunny cherrim, which i think would be cute contrasted with Throné’s gloomy one.

Temenos:

temenos has quite the oddball lineup for a cleric. but hes kind of an oddball cleric so i think it works.

Absol. man. a lot of shit happens to temenos. this absol is stressed tf out 24 fucking 7. sorry man.

Clefable: felt like we had to give him a healer-adjacent pokemon and this one evolves with a moonstone. feels fitting for mr night-ability mistral tbh.

Lokix. alright. another scenario based pick. Temenos caught this thing on the pilgrims way as a nymble at like level 2. probably rustling in the metaphorical tall grass, crick is all “get behind me, it could be dangerous” and then. lvl 2. nymble. doesn’t even need to be fought to be caught. and then temenos is all hey crick, it’s a “crick”et pokemon! (we’ll ignore that the dex says grasshopper) he’d keep it just to mess with crick, but it ends up sticking around.

Houndoom. well, temenos is the pontiff’s hound, so we did need to pick a dog for him. it’s a houndour in the beginning, houndoom by the end. probably evolved in a moment of crisis (in ch4?) the yamask is from crackridge.

wooloo. this is actually Crick’s. it wasn’t helping with the little lamb allegations… after the events of stormhail, Temenos takes it in.

Hikari:

Kingambit: i mean. come on. gotta get a kingambit for the future king.

Gardevoirs dex entire mention that it is dedicated to its trainer/cause to the bitter end, and would do anything to protect it. perfect for Hikari.

Morpeko and Zweilous. some literally two-faced pokemon. (maybe he feels a little bit of a kinship with them in that way) i also really wanted to give Hikari a pseudo-legendary, and i think that his zweilous would probably evolve just in the nick of time to kick some ass against mugen. Hydreigons might be notoriously destructive, but something about the personalities merging into one brain in evolution seems to have mellowed Hikari’s out. it’s remarkably personable, for a hydreigon.

lucario: i really wanted to give him a pokemon that learns copycat, and lucario fits that bill. plus, he definitely needed a fighting type.

Cerudelge: formed from bitterness of old cursed armor, but also an extremely skilled sword fighter… one of hikari’s aces.

I also like to imagine that a lot of hikari’s pokemon are quite difficult to deal with (his ceruledge in particular is quite belligerent and mean) but they all have utmost respect for him as a trainer, once they’re on the battlefield. but onlookers sometimes worry… how the hell does he deal with it all?

other notes about some of the picks :

Partitio’s amarouge. Paritio picked up a. charcadet later on, and hikari personally warned him that it might be difficult to deal with. (his charcadet and later ceruledge were super hard to train for him) of course, partitio did end up in possession of the cool nice armor that evolved it into the better mannered and nobler armarouge… but honestly, even his charcadet was far better behaved.

paritio and tressa both get those shitty fish that get cool. must be because they both have an eye for a diamond in the rough.

agnea and throné’s cherrims are best friends. throné rarely got to see her cherrim sunny-form until she left new delsta… she wonders if maybe it was upset about being so nocturnal before, with the blacksnakes.

castti and osvald, team mom and team dad somehow both ended up with slowkings. everyone’s a little concerned about castti’s, though…

after the events of his story, Osvald leaves indeedee and teddiursa with clarissa and elena. the teddiursa and elena in particular take to each other very well… when osvald finally is able to return to elena’s life, the teddiursa is really much more her pokemon.

also. H’aanit and Ochette and far and away the best battlers of both groups. i know i only have them with one flex spot, but you can imagine that they’d swap out a lot more for whatever they need to do to build a good team. they’ve got loads more options than everyone else.

you know that thing about giving someone an applin in galar? therion did trade it over to alfyn at one point. but really they have joint custody of that thing. which definitely ended up as an appletun.

we also had some npc aces sprinkled in there, so here’s some other thoughts, just as bonus!

hiii Wren here! so this is basically a fresh restart of @pinkhairandpokemon. I decided it would be fun to start at the beginning of their Unova arc this time around. they’re 18 here, and just starting the main story of pokemon black!

I just got kinda… unmotivated to run their old blog anymore?? so I decided it was time for a refresh. SUPER excited to rp as this version of them

this Blake is probably going to be more… standoffish? I guess? not all-out mean but they’re kind of bitchier in this arc of their story (tbf they deserve to be after the shit they went through-) so while they’ll typically be chill in normal interactions they might be like. be a bit more snarky. This year’s SHINY BINGO BOARD! Some old hunts from last year are returning, but a good majority are new! I’m super excited that I can include pokemon from GBA, DS, and 3DS games thanks to some upgrades to my setup. I also purposely avoided Scarlet/Violet hunts because frankly, I’m all Paldea’d out. One nice perk about this list is that I can reasonably simul-hunt a majority of these with the magic of ✨casual controls✨ in Sword and Shield.

Also, I believe that all of these hunts will be done full odds but I ain’t promising anything.

I want to finish up my Teal Mask video, but once that’s done, BINGO IS A GO!

Alright so I kinda went ham on this and made full Pokemon teams for both my OCs AND the canon Tomb of Time cast. I’ll post them all here with some notes! Generally, I gave everyone a single legendary/mythical, and a couple have partner Pokemon that don’t battle, which are included in the corner of their trainer portraits.

Celebi is obvious; a time traveler needs a time traveling Pokemon! Max keeps them out in most circumstances.

Butterfree is a reference to the LiS butterfly. Pity there aren’t any blue butterfly Pokemon.

Clefable and Blissey are much like Max: rare and shy, but friendly when they trust you. Also pink.

Pink Deerling for the pink Jane Doe shirt Max typically wears in LiS.

Tinkaton, again, is much like Max: pink and cute, but will absolutely wreck your shit if given cause (Remember how she almost shot Frank? Imagine if she’d had a hammer instead of a gun.)

Shaymin is admittedly influenced by TToT Chloe’s mother being Persephone, but I think Chloe would really bond with the little guy. They would also be kept out in most circumstances and play with Max’s Celebi.

Absol can sense impending disasters. I imagine Chloe sought hers out in the wake of William’s accident.

Cloyster because… Well, look at it.

Her Persian’s name is Bongo, after her childhood cat.

Ferrothorn and Roserade are again due to TToT Chloe’s Persephone parentage. Ferrothorn specifically refers to the brambles surrounding her mother’s grove at Camp Half-Blood (thanks to @bulletbilltime for that suggestion among others!)

TToT Rachel is a child of Dionysus, and being there aren’t many Pokemon themed around drinking, I reached for other elements of her character. Solgaleo and Pyroar are due to her assertions of being a proud Leo (don’t call her out on that)

Arcanine and Flareon for the many associations between Rachel’s character and fire. Flareon is kept out while traveling.

Zoroark for canon Rachel’s deception and masking, and TToT Rachel’s skill with illusions.

Gardevoir for her outward poise and grace that she shows to all but those closest to her.

I don’t have much to say about Gideon’s lineup, because Zacian, Aegislash, and Sirfetch’d really just boil down to “swords.” Girl loves her swords.

Steelix and Aggron for some more tough and strong steel types. You could argue they have some swordlike features on them.

Golem because canon Gideon grew up in a hole in the ground (specifically on Pluto but there’s not a Plutonian regional variant of Golem yet so sue me)

Harrow has a partner Cubone that doesn’t battle, both because bones, and she empathizes with mourning a mother you never really knew.

Darkrai for the nightmare element; Harrow is no stranger to frequent nightmares.

Houndstone, Spiritomb, and Cofagrigus for the tomb motifs. Spiritomb is particularly appropriate due to it being an amalgamation of souls.

Duskull is left unevolved because its later forms lose the bone motif.

Banette is formed by feelings of abandonment, which… Yeah.

Frieda, as a daughter of Kronos, gets the other time themed legendary in Dialga.

Corviknight and Bisharp represent her martial skill as a warrior; Bisharp in particular for the twin swords she wields.

Empoleon, Nidoqueen, and Vespiquen are straightforward references to her position as Queen of the demititans. Type wise they mean that she probably has the most varied team of the demititans.

I have even less to say about Hunter’s lineup than I did Gideon’s, because they all boil down to being fighters. He probably uses the humanoids for sparring partners.

Terrakion, Machamp, Hariyama, and Conkledurr are noted for their extreme endurance, a trait he shares as a son of Atlas.

Incineroar and Lucario represent his use of combat magic to supplement his martial skill.

Maya’s team is psychics selected for intelligence to pair with her role as a mage/scholar. She rarely uses them for actual battles; instead they assist with her research.

Mewtwo and Alakazam are noted for their especially robust memories, a trait she shares as a favored daughter of Mnemosyne.

Meowstic and Hatterene pair well with her aloof and asocial temperament. Hatterene in particular helps keep unwanted visitors from disturbing her work.

Malamar for her manipulative side as one of the Queen’s Hands.

Delphox for the part of her that really wants to just burn something to ground every once in a while. (Rachel can relate.)

Pierce’s team took some thought, on account of most star/astronomy themed Pokemon being legendary. Of those, she gets Jirachi, as she’d find them adorable and keep them out in most cases.

Starmie, Minior and Gothitelle continue the star/astronomy theme, owing to her father being Krios, lord of stars and constellations.

Appletun because she’s a hobbyist cook, and makes a mean pie.

Escavalier because she’s a spear fighter, and it’s literally the only pokemon I could find that references any kind of polearm. Yeah I know its arms are lances and not spears but I took what I could get.

Siren has a partner Spheal that doesn’t fight, simply because she doesn’t want him getting hurt. His name is Blubby.

Her full team is water type owing to her father being Oceanus. Kyogre specifically represents the primal power of the deep ocean that is her birthright.

Milotic, Gorebyss, Lapras, and Primarina are chosen for their beauty and elegance, traits she prizes in herself.

Greninja refers to her dexterity and deadly skill with small blades.

PLEASE DROP LUIS’S POKÉMON TEAM AND MY LIFE IS YOURS

Anyways, here is. Explains below.

Mudbray - First ever Pokémon Luis got, and it was gotten with help of his grandfather. He wanted to nickname his first ever Pokémon. However, he couldn’t think of a nickname for his Mudbray, so his grandfather began to tell him about Don Quixote to give him an idea. Luis originally was going to evolve it, but after his grandfather passed, he didn’t allow it to. He didn’t want the one thing he still had in life to change.

Sirfetch’d - Luis caught a Galarian Farfetch’d shortly after his Mudbray. He heard stories about what it involves into, and he really wanted a knight-like Pokémon (mainly inspired by Don Quixote).

Absol - Luis didn’t actually catch his Absol. It showed up a week before his grandfather became sick and the cabin burned down. It just followed him around, even though it wasn’t owed by him. It didn’t leave him alone after he left the village. Once he returned to his village, his Absol showed up again, a week before he was infected with the plaga. Afterwards, Luis caught it and hoped it would put an end to his bad luck. It didn’t.

Quaquaval - After leaving his village, the college Luis went to gifted him a Pokémon. It was the standard “grass, fire, water” starters thing. Luis picked Quaxly purely because he didn’t want a fire type after what happened to his cabin, and he knows water can put out fires.

Espeon - After joining Umbrella, Luis got gifted yet another Pokémon: An Eevee spared from testing. He treasured that Eevee so much that it wasn’t long until it became an Espeon. However, after he left Umbrella, he doesn’t look at his Espeon the same anymore, knowing he done stuff that his very Pokémon was spared from.

Dracozolt - Listen listen LISTEN. Umbrella combines DNA and stuff for their viruses. Just hear me out on this one, okay? You know Pokémon are forcibly and uncomfortably combined together? The Gen8 Fossil Pokémon. Why specifically Dracozolt? Well, I wanted to give everyone a team that covers all (if not possible most) types and upon looking at the others in the team/the movesets I gave them, Luis was missing stuff to cover flying and water. You know what’s effective against both of them? Electric. You know what typing Dracozolt has? Electric and dragon. Perfect solution. Now, as for how he got his hands on it, let’s just Luis stole more than equipment from Umbrella.

Various Pokémon That Didn’t Make the Team But Luis Still Has (Probably Stored Away)

Aerodactyl - Simply because it’s revived via the Old Amber, and the amber is what produces the plaga.

Kabutops - A gift from Los Iluminados. I wanted to give him a Pokémon connecting him to the cult, and I vaguely remember when my friend was playing RE4, they compared the enemy to this specific Pokémon. Makes sense for a gift Pokémon from them since it’s 1. A fossil Pokémon, and 2. A bug. Either way, though his Kabutops never did anything wrong, he stored it away because of its origins.

Iron Valiant - It slays, serves, and just genuinely looks amazing (yes, this is my favorite paradox Pokémon, shh). Best drag Pokémon partner possible, imo. However, outside of wanting to give him more Paldea Pokémon (since the region is inspired by Spain), I couldn’t find much of a reason for him to have one, much less how he got it (unless he snuck into something similar to Area Zero and caught it). Even if I did find a reason as of how he got it and why he has it, it wouldn’t have made the cut since I don’t want to give him overpowered Pokémon.

Lycanroc (Dusk Form) - This mainly because I got all the Lycanroc forms + Rockruff shiny, and I named them after RE4 characters (Dusk was obviously Luis, Midday was Ada, Midnight was Leon, and one of the four leftover Rockruff was named Ashley (picture of said shinies below)). Plus, due to Luis being a biologist, I feel like he’d have a special interest in rare Pokémon/rare forms. For that reason, I feel like he searched endlessly for an Own Tempo Rockruff to evolve into a Dusk Lycanroc.

And there’s probably more I had ideas of him having, but I can’t think of them right now. I do know I had up to fifteen Pokémon for him, but here’s at least ten of them.
