Anybody else embroidery-loving here?
I recently picked this hobby back into my life. Due to my job, studying and other repsonsibilities I did not have the time to enjoy. crafting around. Today I'm working on a medium-size handkerchief with traditional patterns, for my traditional clothing attire as an accessory. Maybee I'm not that good in it, but that is not the current goal. I try to slow down my life a bit so I can have some resting phases.

Embracing the Art of Slowing Down: Rediscovering Life's Simple Beauty Shaina Tranquilino June 7, 2024
Tumblr media
It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. We rush from one task to another, constantly checking off items on our to-do lists without pausing to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. In our quest for productivity and success, we often overlook the simple joys of living.
Learning to slow down is not only essential for our mental and physical well-being but also for reconnecting with the world around us. When we rush through our days, we fail to notice the small moments of beauty that make life truly meaningful.
Imagine walking through a park on a sunny afternoon, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin and listening to the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. In our busy lives, we might pass through the park without giving it a second thought, too preoccupied with our own thoughts and worries to appreciate the natural beauty around us.
But when we slow down and take the time to be present in the moment, we open ourselves up to a world of wonder and possibility. We notice the intricate patterns of a flower petal, the playful chirping of birds in the trees, and the laughter of children playing nearby. These simple moments become precious treasures that enrich our lives and remind us of the beauty of the world.
Slowing down doesn't mean abandoning our responsibilities or goals; rather, it's about finding balance and prioritizing what truly matters. It's about learning to savor each moment and cultivate a sense of gratitude for the blessings in our lives.
One way to embrace the art of slowing down is through mindfulness practices such as meditation and deep breathing exercises. By quieting the mind and focusing on the present moment, we can let go of stress and anxiety and cultivate a deeper sense of peace and contentment.
Another way to slow down is by disconnecting from technology and spending more time in nature. Whether it's taking a leisurely stroll in the woods or simply sitting outside and watching the sunset, immersing ourselves in the natural world can be incredibly grounding and rejuvenating.
Slowing down also means being more intentional about how we spend our time. Instead of filling our schedules with endless activities and commitments, we can prioritize activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. Whether it's spending quality time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby we're passionate about, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, carving out time for the things that nourish our souls is essential for our overall well-being.
In a culture that values productivity and efficiency above all else, learning to slow down can feel like a radical act of self-care. But in reality, it's one of the most important things we can do for ourselves. By embracing the art of slowing down, we can reconnect with the simple beauty of living and find greater meaning and fulfillment in our lives. So let's take a deep breath, pause, and savour the sweetness of this moment.

Slowing Down
I was walking on the road alone. I heard the sound of the horns, the cars’ engines, the blowing wind, the playing songs in the street and the people talking. I smelled the different perfumes of the people passing by, and the flowers being sold in the flower shop. I saw the different situations in my surroundings, the bright lights of each post in every street and the glow brought by the moon and the stars. I felt the harsh wind touching my skin and the water dropping from the sky. And I realized I want to take things slow. I want to stretch out the time and observe even the littlest things. I want to hear, feel, smell and see everything and be thankful for them. I want to see more in this life than just doing my day job and be satisfied with its pay. I want to feel more and know that flowing emotions are not just the only available things to feel. I want to hear and acknowledge that it’s not just the sentiments of this world that are offered to be heard. There were simple things to appreciate. Life is beautiful; if only we give the chance to pay attention to them. There’s more to life than sentiments and negativity. All we need to do is to be intentional in witnessing life beyond ourselves.

Sore Throat Reflections
I’m not typically one to get ill. It’s a rare event. I’m the sort who prefers to keep moving, keep talking, keep going. So this sore throat—eight days and counting—has been a strange and rather unwelcome guest. In the first few days, I shrugged it off, figuring it would just go away on its own. But here I am, over a week later, still feeling that scratchy reminder every time I swallow. It’s funny how something so minor can alter the way you experience the world. When you’re not feeling yourself, it seems the world tilts just a bit, forcing you into a new perspective.
Now, I’m not a fan of medicine. I don’t rush to the pharmacy for the latest “quick fix” or attempt to mask discomfort with pills. My approach is more stoic: let the body do its work and get over it in its own time. The idea of trudging to a doctor, only to be handed a prescription for something I don't really trust, isn't appealing. So I’ve been sitting with this sore throat, giving it its space, allowing it to remind me that I’m human and vulnerable to these small inconveniences of life. And oddly, I find that this sore throat has also been nudging me into a quieter, more reflective state.
Typically, I’m articulate and full of words—I’ve got plenty to say about everything from politics to history to the latest Grand Theft Auto game. But pain in the throat has a way of stilling the tongue. It forces me to communicate less and observe more. And there’s something grounding in that, in just sitting back and watching the world turn without constantly throwing my thoughts into the mix.
With this slower rhythm, I’ve even found myself doing things that are foreign to my usual routine. For one, I’ve been turning to the television, something I don’t often have time for. Rather than diving into deep debates or working into the early hours, I’m doing something as mundane as flipping through channels. Watching reruns and films I haven’t touched in ages (hello, Back to the Future Part 2) has actually been a strangely enjoyable diversion. And while I wouldn’t say I’m converted to the couch-potato lifestyle, I can see why people find comfort in zoning out in front of the screen for a bit.
What’s truly shocking is my new bedtime. Normally, I’m still up at 4:00 a.m., chasing thoughts, diving into some project, or just letting the quiet hours carry me. But these days, I’m calling it quits at around 1:30 a.m.—which, by my standards, is practically a senior citizen bedtime. I’m usually the last person to hit the sack, preferring the stillness of night when the world feels like it’s mine alone. Yet here I am, surrendering to the call of sleep earlier than usual, letting my body steer while my mind takes a backseat.
In a way, being forced to slow down has been an unexpected reset. I can’t say I’ll be signing up for another round of sore throat therapy anytime soon, but it’s certainly reminded me that sometimes, silence has its own wisdom. Life doesn’t always need commentary. Sometimes it’s enough to just sit back and let the world do the talking.

'The sixth great extinction is happening', conservation expert warns. ‘Window of time to save climate is closing’
Dr Goodall says taking action to slow down the warming of our planet ismore urgent than ever. “We still have a window of time to start slowingdown climate change and loss of biodiversity,” Dr Goodall says. “Butit’s a window that’s closing.” Destruction of forests, and other wildplaces, she points out, is intrinsically linked to the climate crisis.“So much has changed in my lifetime,” she says,…

Does Slow Down Your  Weight Loss On The Ketogenic Diet?
The ketogenic diet, or "keto" for short, causes the body to convert from burning carbohydrates to burning fat for energy, which might cause weight loss to start off quickly. However, weight loss may slow down or even plateau as the body adjusts to this new metabolic state. There are a number of reasons why this occurs and actions that can be taken to keep weight loss moving in the right direction, which can be difficult for those who are attempting to lose weight on the keto diet.
1.  Body Adapts To The New Metabolic The State:
2.  Insufficient Calorie Deficit:
3.  Lack Of Physical Activity:
4.  Hidden Carbohydrates:
5.  Hormonal disorders:

Earth doesn't take 24 hours to complete a rotation!
Earth has been around for about 4.5 billion years now - that's 45 followed by eight zeros! Human beings, on other hand, have been around for a measly 2 million years. In these 2 million years, even though we have discovered a lot about our planet, there is still a lot left to be discovered.
1 - The speed of Earth's rotation is slowing down.
Indeed, Earth is no longer spinning as fast as it used to. Around 200 million years ago, when dinosaurs roamed on Earth, a day was only 23 hours long. Today Earth takes exactly 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds to complete a rotation. This means that Earth is slowing down at the rate of 1.4 milliseconds every 100 years.
This is due to the gravitational pull of the moon. The moon's gravitational pull causes a tidal bulge, which is a slight distortion in the shape of Earth during tides. This affects the speed of Earth's rotation.
