genpadalecki: contrary to popular belief (or habit…) we don’t *have* to get swept away in the frenzy of the holiday season. we can still take it s-l-o-w. the best way to start:

📵create tech-free zones - studies show how important this is. if you must have your phone or another gadget in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, etc. try putting it on airplane mode or silencing notifications. 🌬️practice mindful breathing - have a hard time sitting still? #boxbreathing is a technique you can incorporate while folding laundry, walking the dog, etc: breathe in for a steady count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4, breathe out for 4, repeat. 🧮limit multitasking - this is an outdated resume term. think *time management* instead. focusing on one thing at a time ultimately gets “all the things” done in a more streamlined way. 🌳connect to nature daily - green & blue spaces are good for your physical + mental health. a recent study revealed nature even soothes loneliness and inspires social connection. 🍵take breaks - we are not machines. and even if we were, we’d still need to power down at times. take a coffee/tea/water/lunch/snack break. take a walk or listen to music. schedule it if you must!

Short trek to see sunrise over the horizon. Though there where a lot of clouds and the sunrise was not as clear as we imagined, it was stunning and beautiful anyway. Walking there in the dark and to be up right before dark disappear to see and to feel how the world is slowly waking up :)

Saturday mornings. Getting out of bed early to have a long day ahead of you. Making yourself a cup of coffee and enjoying a slow morning. Settling down on the couch and grabbing one of your current reads. Having an hour of uninterrupted morning, where you enjoy your book with your cup of coffee.
