My best friend and I were talking about our favorite moments in the SW prequels even though we both have issues with them, and there was one that we solidly (but kind of unexpectedly) agreed on.

It's actually in Attack of the Clones and from Hayden Christensen as teenage Anakin, in a moment where we really thought he shone—the return to Tatooine.

In particular, we both loved how he questions Watto, his former owner, who talks as if their history would be nostalgic for Anakin somehow and as a Jedi, Anakin might do him favors now. Watto admits he sold Anakin's mother to some guy who freed and married her, but is purposefully vague on the details, and Anakin just quietly says something along the lines of "I'd like to know."

This could be kind of empty or OTT hostile, and in our opinion, it's really neither! There's a certain, hmm, lingering politeness, but there is also an underlying menace that we thought perfectly fit the circumstances and his character.

(We also thought and liked that he seemed weirded out by the Lars situation. I mean, when you think about "this guy bought my mother in order to marry her, but also legally freed her" from Anakin's POV, it is an extremely strange situation to be in.)

We need to talk about Judge Claude Frollo in the Disney Parks (DURING THE 90's) (he didn't wore a mascot head before then)—————— ⊹₊ ⋆. ♱ ₊˚ .⊹

The fandom needs to know about this. Why is no one talking about it???

Recently I got hyperfocused on HOND and, after watching the movie multiple times, musicals, and tons of video analysis, I finally found the Disney Park content - and oh boy I got so lucky for finding it

I would like to say that, at first, my wish was that the content of this post was posted on tiktok in form of videos and small edits, and while I have a tiktok account, I only post my art and my family follows me there help (imagine what they would think if they saw me posting edits (simping for) of a guy in the disney parks dressed as the most horrific character from disney in the 90s). I also told a friend about this, who has a tiktok accont, wishing they would post something about it, but it didn't happened- So I decided to make a Tumblr post.

I'm not a Disney parks specialist, I don't know a lot about this topic in general, but if any of you are, please correct me if I'm wrong or give me info I didn't included because this would help a lot.

Going to the main topic, you guys probably know how Frollo looks like in the parks today. He barely appears, sure, but he wears a mascot head, and since his mouth is always shut, he's not able to talk, having to speak to people only through signs and body expressions. But during the 90s HE DIDN'T WORE A MASK. He was played by a face actor.

BACK THEN IN THE 90s, the movie of The Hunchback of Notre Dame was released (1996), and the parks started to include the characters in their attractions. As far as I know, we had three main attractions related to HOND back then:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame Topsy Turvy Cavalcade (it's a parade that happened at Disneyland and also Disneyland Paris in the 5th anniversary celebration of the park - overall based on the Festival of Fools scene);

The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Festival of Fools (Which I have NO IDEA of why it's described as similar to the musical adventure in that wiki, since the script, stage and everything is completely different from the musical adventure - The stage is WAY BIGGER and it's mainly focused on the Festival Of Fools, but the story cuts to the end a lot faster than in the movie)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Musical Adventure (a musical theatre, stage show, that happened at Disney's Hollywood Studios, that tells us the whole story of the movie);

The parade has two versions, as I said. Since our main focus is Frollo in this post, in one of the versios Frollo is riding his horse, and in the other one he's standing over one of the floats. Most of the videos I found about it show us Frollo as a face character (no mask on), but somehow there are some videos dated as 1997 about the same parade with him wearing his mascot head, which is just very confusing to me.

I can't exactly explain why he stopped being a face character, I believe that it's related to what Disney did to Fairy Godmother (she's an elderly character, just like Frollo, the same happened to her: previously face character, eventually mask character. I heard a theory saying that Disney probably doesn't want to hire elders because of their physical limitations in having to stay standing in a costume during the whole day).

What confuses me is the fact that in some attractions (the parade at Paris) Frollo is already wearing a mask, but in others (Festival of Fools) he is not yet. You see, the parade ended in 1997, but the Festival ended in 1998, and there is a recording made of the last performance of the Festival on YouTube, and Frollo is still not wearing his mask.

That can be easily explained by them just taking the decision of making him wear the mask during the parade only and keep him as a face character during the Festival. But why? We also have to consider that these take place in different parks and different countries (France and USA).

Let's take a look at the dates:

Parade AT DISNEYLAND: started in 1996 and ended in 1997 - no mask

Parade AT PARIS: started in 1997 and ended in 1998 (in some the videos I found from there, Frollo IS wearing his mask)

but I am confused since I found a video where he wasn't wearing his mask at this same parade, at Disneyland, in front of a "It's a Small World" ride. English is not my main language so I am not sure if they're only speaking in english, because if it was in France (France also has a Disneyland and a It's a Small World) they would be talking in both languages: English and French. And I don't know if I'm crazy but I didn't heard any French there. Which means this is probably at USA. BUT WHY IS FROLLO NOT WEARING HIS MASK AT USA??? I don't know I'm just confused

Festival of Fools: started in June 21, 1996 and ended in April 18, 1998 - no mask (I would like to say that Hellfire is included in this one, it was cut in all the other attractions. Also, near the end, right before his death, Frollo seems to try to grab Esmeralda when Quasi attacks his back, which wasn't in the movie indeed.)

A Musical Adventure (theatre): started in june 21, 1996 and ended in september 28, 2002 - no mask (his actor got changed around 3 times as far as I know, based on the videos that I watched)

Also, between the USA and the France version of the parade, Frollo shows up in three different ways: riding his horse, standing on top of the Notre Dame float, or sitting at his chair at the festival (which appears to be like a mini float, and he wears his mask). They're mixed and it's confusing to me, I am not sure which is where. When I think I understood, I find new footage of these attractions where he appears on top of something else and I don't know what's happening anymore

I don't know guys, I am just really confused and I'll just keep enjoying all the videos I can find of him without his mask, because it's a rare thing to see Frollo showing his face, and now much rarer hearing him talk and express himself properly at the parks. I hate this damn mask. It's clear as the light of the day that it's the same costume from the 90s with no update, no better painting, or anything new for that matter. I don't HATE him, I'm happy that we have Frollo in the parks. It's just that it was better before... if they at least updated that mask and those pale hands...

Despite trying, I couldn't find any pictures from that face character Frollo. You know, pictures people take with the characters? None. All we have are low quality 90s videos on YouTube and that's it. Which makes me really upset, because those videos don't properly capture his costume and makeup, even though I'm really grateful to everyone who recorded them, it's very hard to see his face clearly. That gif at the start of the post is one of those rare moments someone showed us his face up close, and it's from a video recording "The Hunchback of Notre Dame Topsy Turvy Cavalcade" at Disneyland where Frollo rode his horse instead of just standing on top of the Notre Dame float. (It happens at 04:00 and I giggle every single time help)

I would like to make a mini list of all the videos I could find about this on the internet. It will be updated constantly, of course, and separated by topics (the attractions) and their names will be the names of the videos themselves. I would also like to say that the qualities of those videos aren't always the best, but we're lucky for at least having them in our hands in the first place. Sometimes I will point out when he appears, sometimes I won't because I'm lazy.

“It’s just a quick session to practice before the competition, Sam,” You argued as you were heading out the door with your board. You were preparing for the Olympics given that you were on Team USA and you competed there last time. You took home the bronze, but this year, you were dead set on getting the gold or at least silver. You only missed out on the silver by the slightest margin, so you were determined to be as close to perfect as humanly possible. Sam, your boyfriend, knew this, and he always supported you. However, today, it looked like it would rain soon, and he voiced his concerns as you were about to leave. “Sam, I’ll go to a different bowl if that’ll make you feel better. There’s this old skatepark just outside the city that’s practically abandoned I could go to.”

“If you promise to be back if it starts raining,” Sam sighs from his spot in the kitchen. Colby had just shown up, and they were going to be discussing their next string of videos. That’s the main reason you decided to go practice. They really needed to sort it out, and all of your projects were already done. Plus, there is no harm in overpreporation. “Just please promise to be careful. I know we’re in the middle of a desert, but when it rains, it pours.”

“Yeah, yeah, Mr. Weatherman, I hear you,” You teased as you walked up behind him to grab a water and a small snack from the fridge. Then, you leaned up to press a short kiss to his cheek before heading out of the kitchen, purposely bumping into Colby’s shoulder in the process. “Don’t have too much fun while I’m gone. I’ll text you when I’m on my way back.”

You jumped in your car, threw your stuff into the passenger side, and turned on the car. You set up the music, knowing it was going to take a while to get out to the skate park and you needed good tunes to be able to sit through the drive. 

Inside the house, your boyfriend and his best friend were joking about how you could not sit still for too long, and you always had to do something. They only needed to situate a few things before they were able to call it a day and just hang out. They decided to film a couple of reaction videos to get ahead of schedule since they were going on a trip soon.

The drive out to the park did not take nearly as long as you thought. Maybe it was because there was a noticeable lack of cars on the road and very grey-looking clouds in the sky. It looked almost nighttime with how dark the clouds were. From what you could remember, the park still had functional lights, so you hoped that was still the case.

Unfortunately, it was not, but it was times like this when you were happy you had a light in your truck. It was a portable light usually meant for camping, but it came in handy when the park was so dark.

The park was empty so that played to your advantage. The ground was slightly wet, so you knew that it had rained there earlier. There were not any puddles. There were just a couple of noticeable wet spots in the concrete. The bowl itself did not have any standing water, so you went ahead and set up the light and your phone to record your practice. You had your radio from your car playing music since you were alone, and it was one of the things you always did to seem like you were with a group.

You got on a roll, going straight from a few warm-up tricks before starting to go into the tricks for your routine. It started to lightly drizzle at one point, but it was not too bad. You love the rain, and you have skated in the rain before. There was nothing wrong.

You were in your element. The rain just added a nice ambiance, and it made you feel calm as you continued practicing. At one point, you were getting ready to drop into the bowl when you realized the ledge was a little too slippery, and instead of stepping back, you accidentally fell into the bowl. Your arm crashed against the ledge before you slid all the way down and stopped in the middle of a puddle.

You realized it had started raining harder now, and when you moved to get up, you noticed a slight red tint to the water. Like everything was in slow motion, you turned your head and saw your arm bent at a weird angle with a large gash along the side of it.

You cursed to yourself, not really feeling the pain yet, as you pushed yourself up with your other hand. You grabbed your board and threw it up out of the bowl as you tried to run up the side, barely landing at the edge.

You got a better look at your arm in the light, concluding it was definitely broken. As if it could not get any worse, it was your right arm, and your car was a manual. You could not drive yourself to the hospital, so you needed to call someone to get you. 

Thinking the obvious was Sam, but instead, you dialed Colby’s number and put it on speaker as you slowly wrapped everything up and took the light to your car first. He did not answer the first time, so you set your phone in your car as you finished grabbing your board and putting the light and board in the trunk before sitting in the driver’s seat. You did not plan on trying to drive, so you dialed his number one more time.

This time, he answered, “Hey, what’s up?”

“Do you think you could come pick me up?” You asked, not wanting to reveal why, but the tone of voice you used conveyed that you could not drive. You were starting to get lightheaded and the adrenaline was wearing off at a rapid rate.

“Yeah, any reason why I need to pick you up and not Sam?” He asked, and you could hear him grabbing his keys. What you did not hear was Colby gesturing for Sam to follow him as they both climbed into his car.

���I may have done something, and Sam gets squeamish around blood,” You chuckled halfheartedly as you leaned your head back and closed your eyes. 

“Blood?! What did you do?” Sam could not help himself from shouting as Colby got on the interstate, following the GPS to your location. 

“So much for not telling Sam,” You mumbled to yourself, but they heard it loud and clear, “Sam, I had a small fall. It happens, but it’s my right arm, and I can’t drive without my right arm.”

They both took note of how weak you sounded, glancing briefly at each other in concern. Finally, Sam asked, “Could we move this to FaceTime?” You did not have time to answer as a FaceTime call from Colby came in. You accepted it and propped your phone up on the dash weakly, making sure your arm was not in the shot. You leaned your head back but looked down as you waited for the phone to connect. It took a second, but when it did, you were met with Sam’s concerned face. “You look really pale. Are you sure it was a small injury?”

“I don’t think you want me to answer that, Sammy,” You said in a soft tone and a small smile, trying to play it off. You never called him ‘Sammy’ unless something was really wrong. The last time you called him ‘Sammy,’ it turned out you had appendicitis and needed to go in for emergency surgery. He immediately caught on as well.

“Can I see it?” Sam said, not wanting to push too hard, but also needing to see just how bad it was.

“Sammy, trust me,” You laughed as you lifted your head to look straight at the screen. “You don’t want to see it. If you really want to see it, which I’m telling you you don’t, you can see it when you get here.”

“Well, it’s my lucky day because we’re just about to pull into the parking lot,” Sam teased lightheartedly as you noticed the headlights of Colby’s car fill your view. That’s when you noticed how badly it was raining now. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to skate in the rain. You truly learned your lesson.

“Sam, you know it is not a good idea to go up to them if there is blood,” Colby reasoned as he stopped Sam from climbing out of the car. “The last thing they need is you freaking out if it is something bad. Let me go first, and I’ll bring you over if I think you can handle it.”

“I trust you,” Sam caved as he stayed in the car and hid his face in his hands while Colby walked over to your car. Sam was a nervous wreck, but you picked up on his anxiousness like a sponge. That would not help your situation if he started freaking out. 

Colby walked up to your driver’s side door, and he did not even need to open the door. You had the light on inside, and he could clearly see the amount of blood that had accumulated on your shirt and pants and the odd bend of your arm. Immediately, he turned back to Sam in his car and gestured for Sam to get in the driver’s seat. Sam did so without hesitation but rolled the passenger window down to ask what was going on.

“Sam, you’re gonna follow us, and you’re not gonna ask any questions,” Colby instructed, causing Sam to be even more worried as he turned the car back on. Colby went back to your car and helped you move into the passenger seat all while obstructing Sam’s view of you. Up close, it looked even worse.

The ride to the nearest hospital was not long, but to each of you, it felt like years. Your arm was pulsing so much, you thought there was a bass sound system in it. Colby was trying to focus on driving through the rain while keeping you awake. Sam was just numb. There was no way this was a small injury based purely on Colby’s reaction.

When you finally got to the hospital, Sam wasted no time in parking and running up you the passenger side. Colby jumped between him and the door, for obvious reasons, but Sam could not see it that way.

“Colby, please,” Sam pleaded trying to see inside. He was barely holding it together, and he did not even see the extent of the injury. He just knew it was base based on Colby and your reactions alone. “I need to see them.”

“Sammy, if you really want to see it, then help me out,” You sighed as you pushed the door open with your left arm. The door was a lot heavier because Colby was leaning on it, but when he felt the door start moving, he backed off. As soon as Sam’s eyes landed on the blood on your shirt, he immediately turned around. He did not even see your arm before retreating back to Colby’s car. “That’s what I thought. Now, Colby, can you help me, please?”

You have always hated hospitals. The smell, the doctors not taking you seriously, the silence, and the general lack of color. This was the emergency room, so there was more to look at honestly, and it was not pin-silent. If anything, it was loud and obnoxious. 

Thankfully, you were taken into one of the trauma bays quickly, so they could get the blood to stop. Colby went to get Sam, so they could wait in the waiting room for the all-clear. The blood took a minute to stop because the bone kept moving, causing it to not have the chance to clot. The doctors decided you needed to go into surgery to set the bone straight before going into a cast, so they updated Sam and Colby as they sent you off. 

You woke up in a hospital room the next day, at least you assumed as much. The sun was out, so you knew a considerable amount of time had passed since the storm. You looked down at your arm and found it already encased in a thick plaster. To the left side, Sam laid asleep with his head on the bed as he held your hand. You gently shook your arm to wake him up, but as it turns out, he was not asleep, just laying with his eyes closed. His eyes snapped open immediately to meet yours as he did a once over to make sure you were still okay.

“I think that’s the last time I try skating in the rain,” you tried to joke, still heavily drowsy. This made Sam smile as he pulled your entwined hand to his lips and kissed your knuckles. “And it looks like no Paris trip for us this Summer.”

“We’ll go some other time,” he sympathized as one of his hands moved up to fix your hair. It was flying in all different directions, and he just needed to be doing something with his hands. When he finished, he moved his hand to cup your face, causing you to lean into it and close your eyes. Honestly, you could fall back to sleep like this. He waited a few beats before whispering, “Are you feeling better?”

“Tired and probably on pain meds,” You whispered back, opening your eyes to look at him. “Nothing hurts if that’s what you're asking. I am hungry though, and I want to go home.”

“I’ll call the doctor in, and we can stop and get your favorite food on the way home,” He offered as he stood up, kissed your forehead, and moved to press the button. “I’m so glad you’re okay.”

“You say that like I didn't break my arm the first time we met,” You laughed as you waited for the doctor or nurse to come in. “I’m just accident-prone. You should know this by now.”

“Well, this time, I plan to be your personal nurse, so get ready because I’m not letting you out of my sights until this cast comes off.”

“Nurse Sammy to the rescue.”

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Novellas, poetry, fanfiction—you name it. There was always a burning desire to express what was in my heart, to tell the stories that lived in my head. However, because I’m located in the Global South, because I’m the product of several generations of law and medicine, l never let myself think that it could be anything more than a hobby only for my spare time. It wasn’t until 2020 that I took a leap of faith, quitting my office job and deferring my master’s program abroad in order to write a fantasy romance epic rooted in Southeast Asian culture, tradition, and mythology.

And now, flash forward three years, my debut novel THE HURRICANE WARS is a USA Today, Indie, and New York Times bestseller in its first week of release! This would never have been possible without: my communities, fandom and Filipino, and all the book bloggers who really showed up for this novel, who tirelessly spread the word; my brilliant agent Thao Le who’s had my back since day one; my Harper Voyager US team, who poured so much time and creative energy into THW’s publishing and campaign; and the booksellers and librarians throughout the US who advocated for an unknown brown author’s debut to have a place on their shelves. I owe it all to you!

I kind of want to cry for the girl I used to be, battling mental health issues and flitting from one degree program to the next, hoping to find the one that was fulfilling and “acceptable” at the same time, even though deep down writing was all there ever was or could be. I kind of want that girl to see into her future and say “Kaya naman pala” and wallow a bit. But I prefer to embrace this moment, in awe at the knowledge that my past has informed the voice that I now share with the world, and it is this same past that has gotten me here.

I’m proud to represent my motherland the Philippines in this achievement. I hope that in some small way this can be a step toward encouraging Southeast Asian policymakers to address the gaps in support and infrastructure for our talented local writing scenes, as well as motivating the global publishing industry to seek out more Southeast Asian writers and give our stories a platform. Here is the life update of my past 4 years.

I began this blog many years ago in 2012 when I was only 14 years old, and I then slowly gained the courage to start posting art at 17 when I joined the K fandom. It's wild to think that I am now 25!

I was never quite consistent in posting since I only shared my art here whenever I felt like it, but it slowed down ever so gradually to basically 1 post a year for Yata’s birthday. This blog helped me with my fear of showing my art to others as I was incredibly embarrassed of my work for a really long time.

I soon moved to the USA from my homeland and attended animation school for 1 year, and then studied illustration and visual development for 4 years and I managed to accomplish many things I never could have imagined. I graduated with honors this past May, was selected by the faculty and head of department as my major’s trustee scholar, completed my 84-page art book thesis, got a few pieces into the Society of Illustrators, and my school even shot a mini docu-film about me, my art and my life where I got to share my upbringing. Art school was very demanding and at times tough but I managed to get a lot out of it :)

In July of this year, I moved to California from Florida and I’m much happier than I’ve ever been. I come from a very small country so I never expected to get this far in the art world. I drew Yata for fun in my bedroom whenever I wanted to and now I’m in LA breaking into the animation industry (receiving my first credit too!)

the drawings I share here are a very very small part of the illustrations I make weekly. I wish I could share them with everyone as I’m very proud of them but I enjoy separating my fandom life from my real life a little too much! Surprisingly I am working as a background artist at the moment despite never drawing backgrounds in this blog lol. I think many of you would be surprised at how different my work is from irl!!

It hasn’t always been great, so I don't want to make it seem like it's been all perfect. I’ve had many hard times too and at the moment I am extremely homesick since I haven't returned home in a long time but I think these are needed sacrifices.

However, I'm excited for 2024. I'm looking forward to growing as an artist and my goal is to continue to have fun with art as much as I have right now. I think I’m lucky to have a great support system including my best friend @fuurais who has been by my side for 10+ years and I managed to convert into a K artist too <3

Thank you for the support, for the kind messages, and for the excitement every time I post. I am always happy when I think of this blog and the friends I made. I unironically think about Yata every day as he is past being my comfort character tbh. I am currently writing this with full-on orange hair that I've had for a few years now lol.

I don’t think I’ll be as active as I was at 17 but I will try to not ghost this blog completely. There are a lot of things I haven’t drawn yet that I really want to do and I'd love to share those drawings with everyone.

Something I find deeply interesting and cool is how the bsd mangas vary between countries/regions. The cover art stays the same, but the spines are designed differently and give off different vibes. Images and more of me ranting about how neat it is below the cut!

For example, here’s the Chinese and Japanese manga (image not mine, taken off EBay). They look like classy novels which I deeply enjoy

Australia and Italy both have a similar spine style (taken from Carousell website and Trancy008 on Reddit).

Poland still utilizes the picture-less spines, but starting a using alternating colours for each volume. (Image from orange-cat-123 on Reddit) In Denmark we get to see (in my opinion, a very cool) spine designs that alternates between black and white. (Image is taken off of blxcktxe on Reddit)

There are also the ones from Malaysia. It’s a bit more similar to the ones I have in North America.

Lastly, you have the YenPress mangas that publish in Canada and USA. All of them feature a little circular window. The image is from my own collection

PSA: Back up your blog, check your tumblr e-mail for copyright strikes

Hi everyone, after suddenly losing my account with main blog + sideblogs last week, I would like to share the following warning with y'all. Not to scare you even though it is shitty, but to raise awareness. If this somehow results in me getting kicked off the platform again, so be it lol.

If you post anything fandom* related on your tumblr blog**, whether that's gifs, screenshots, videos, cosplay pics or even fics (?), you may risk getting a copyright strike (up to 3 in 18 months) or even immediate account termination. The chance is still rather small, but just know that it can happen.

*I say fandom in the broad term, so blogs that post about movies and series, anime/manga, games, celebrities, models, sports/olympics, etc. and it goes for gif and fic creators too. Not just accounts that post music or videos for example.

**I say tumblr blog, but this goes for all of the internet ofc. People have been getting this problem on any platform, from insta to etsy, youtube and twitter.

Disclaimer: I am no legal expert, just an unlucky blogger who lost her silly multifandom fic blog after 7+ years.

This will be a bit long and detailed so I proceed under the cut!

What can you do?

...To make sure you don't suddenly lose days, months, and years of content:

CHECK THE EMAIL LINKED TO YOUR TUMBLR. I know a lot of people don't do it, myself included. Tumblr does send warnings (though not always). It wouldn't have changed anything for me because I wouldn't want to appeal - since I don't want to go into this "fair use" discussion for just a fic & editing blog. I personally don't know the chances of retrieving your blog if you protest against the claims, so can't say much about that.

Back up your Tumblr blog if you can. Also save your Tumblr chats with people dear to you if you can. Account termination seems to work differently than deactivation. I was still able to see chats with people who deactivated long ago. But my blog that got terminated has vanished from everyone's DMs and ask boxes à la Thanos snap. I mourn my years of Tumblr chat with my best friend. It was not as if we even considered exporting/copying it just for the memories of the start of our friendship. But now that it's entirely gone, hehe, well. It is sad.

Save URLs and masterposts outside Tumblr. After losing your account, for I thiiink about 24-48hrs (I didn't clock, but it was temporary) you will be able to access it at least temporarily through cachedpages, if you have the URL. It doesn't seem to work for everything, but most of my Tumblr posts I could still see shortly through this site, even after I got wiped off the platform. I did this by googling my tumblr username + certain keywords, and the posts would pop up and give me the URL.

...To prevent getting copyright strikes and losing your account?

Probably nothing - but like I said, I'm not the expert, just the fool who lost her account. The termination e-mail will give you a numbered URL so it's not easy to see which post resulted in the account loss, but for me the keywords were:

Despite the 7+ years of posts, many followers and a lot of memories, I did not gain anything else from this blog and didn't think it was worth the (legal-) risks and effort to try and get it back. It would require filing an objection against the copyright claims with personal info from home address to name, and consenting to USA legal law stuff.

Even if I don't know the exact details, I'm sure they're not wrong, because whether it's fair or not, most fandom stuff has copyright issues in the end, so I can't protest against the claims with 100% certainty it won't get me in real trouble. Besides, I read about similar cases, lost cases, and admitted defeat right away.

They work with manual reports and most dangerously, bots, who seem to be randomly picking unlucky people to take down their posts and possibly the entire account.

So besides putting an entire halt to fic writing, gif making, video editing and other fandom indulgement, or the inconvenient act of censoring every single word and image, I don't think there is a way to entirely prevent getting targeted.

The one that treated me to the strikes leading to account termination was a certain Mr. Green who seems to have targeted mostly people on Etsy. But apparently now also on Tumblr. More about this I can share here for further information. I also share some other links that can inform you about how far the copyright problem can go. Again, no reason to panic. It's rare and I was unlucky. But it happens.

About Mr. Green, using bots all over the internet to take down fandom related material:

Tumblr post about his attack on fandom.

Long detailed doc from an Etsy user.

Insta post about also loss of Etsy account.

Also Etsy related, but same Mr. Green and his bots taking down something only because it used the NAME of an anime character.

Tweet about him and his company not being officially contracted but getting compensated.

About copyright claims on Tumblr - they are still rare, no panic, I just call it russian roulette and these are all unlucky people like me :')

i come with a hot take that i dont expect to be well received by others but here goes:

i think pjms really need to cut out the “thailand streaming farm” narrative, for several reasons.

streaming culture has been popularized by armys throughout the years. as far as i can remember, there has been a lot of discourse among chart-oriented armys for years (since the english trilogy era) about both vietnam’s and thailand’s streaming practices. they were the first ones’ to push the account-switching techniques that a lot of streamers use today. back then, it was deemed unsustainable and risky by most chartmys bc it led to large drops when people got tired of doing that. now, its the mainstream streaming practice in the fandom and other countries have managed to make it a more sustainable effort (i.e., LC’s longetivity in the US). the US is the most praised sector of pjms (and deservedly so, they work their asses off) while still using that technique so why are overall pjms much harsher with how they express themselves about thai armys/pjms vs us pjms? honestly sometimes it feels mildy xenophobic to me when is see those kinds of tweets/posts.

while i definitely get that their lack of consistency amd favoritism towards some members has been annoying in the past i don’t think we can say the same anymore. sgmb got more streams day one than nlg and every single jk song released last year (every.single.one and more than double for some of them).

i also cant believe i had to find this information out by a random jjk that popped up on my search this morning when i was looking up today’s sp update (you can imagine my horror when i confirmed those numbers).

jjks frequently and stupidly use the bot narrative for usa pjms, and in all honesty, pjms look just as dumb using the streaming farm narrative for thai armys/solos. its giving that meme of spidermens pointing at each other bc in reality were ALL “bots” were ALL “streaming farms”. we are all a somewhat small group of people (within the market) putting in an extreme effort for our artists. let’s not fool ourselves into cultish them vs us mentalities when (for some things) we are not that different.

Thailand streams get called out because the numbers they pull are not proportionate to the number of users that they have in their country. Look at SK for example. Their lowest entry right now is 4.3k. Top 50 12.8k Top 20 23k Top 10 37k Top 5 60k With top spot being LC with 118k. Proportionate. Brazil, a chart range somewhat similar to the US. Lowest entry is 182k. Top 50 381k Top 20 612k Top 10 882k Top 5 1.06M and Top spot 1.14M.

The lowest entry for Thai charts right now is 28k. Then you get to top 50, that’s 68k. Top 20 (which is Espresso by Sabrina) 98k Top 10 167k. From there is gets sus because to make a jump from that to the top 3 current spots which are 524k, 1.13M, 1.8M. (Down from 6/29 where Rockstar & SGMB had 2.5M and 2.2M respectively and the lowest entry was 26k.) Then you look at the #3 spot from that same day and it was 484k. The gap between #3 and #2 was around 1.7M. Like you cannot tell me that’s normal cause it isn’t. You don’t see those kinds of gaps on any other country chart. So It doesn’t have anything to do with xenophobia (or being upset about the fact that that country is TK majority) because there are other Asian countries and countries outside the US that don’t get called out since they do have streams proportionate to their population and have reasonable ranges.

Bringing up US fans streaming in comparison to Thai fans is also odd to do because it’s not the same. The lowest entry on the US chart is 340k Top 50 starts at 600k, Top 20 841k Top 10 1M with top 5 being 2.1M. That’s also a very proportional chart. Jimin’s numbers in America have always sat in the 200k-to 1M range without significant jumps coming out of nowhere.

Him going from a 465k debut with LC to 2.2M with SGMB from Thailand is not just the 20x cap per account method, that’s something else being employed there. And it’s not that they got “stronger” either.

I’ve expressed my discontent with a large chunk of SGMB’s streams coming from Thailand on multiple occasions. I’ve wanted it far away from Jimin for this exact reason. I’m not denying that there isn’t a concentrated effort to get better numbers in general. And I don’t think any pjm is “fooling themselves” into thinking that how they stream is entirely organic. It’s not, but I still won’t put it on the level of what some Thai fans are doing.

So, first things first - some numbers. 353 people have taken part in the census. There are over 350 people that say ‘yes I am a part of Dreamblr’. That’s amazing! I am so happy to see this community thrive :D

The results are not surprising in the slightest - over 85% of the people that have taken the survey are from North America or Europe. 5.9% come from South America, 4.8% from Asia, 1.7% from Australia and Oceania. 4 people decided not to answer and thus became citizens of Antarctica and one person comes from Africa.

Before we get to the statistics, it’s important to mention a couple of things. First of all - this question was optional. The survey site let you pass without putting anything in and the question itself had the word ‘optional’ in it. Despite that 2 of the 4 people that chose Antarctica also wrote in the countries they lived in. All in all 270 out of the 353 people decided to answer this question.

Another straightforward question. Over 70% of us are between 18 and 25 years old. 13 are 31-45 years old and 8 people decided not to specify their age. 1 person has declared to be over 45 years old. You can see all the answers on this awesome pie chart as well!

I think it’s pretty cool how while a lot of us are young adults or even still teenagers, there are also older fandom enjoyers among us :D I hope you are all enjoying your time!!

When did you join the fandom?

First of the more fandom-specific questions. And probably the first question, where the answers genuinely surprised me!

A lot of us are OGs! Either having joined in 2019 or early/late 2020! Those people remember it all - the beginning of Dream SMP, the first vlog, Antfrost’s coming out and even the beginning of manhunts in some cases!

Out of the rest, early 2021 was another popular entry point to the fandom. Which shouldn’t surprise anyone either - it was still during the pandemic, probably the peak of Dream’s (and Dream Team’s/Dream SMP’s popularity). 

9 people did not remember when they joined the fandom.

Similarly, 9 people are newbies! They’ve joined us in late 2022, while 23 joined in early 2022. 

No one has joined in 2023 yet. (or haven’t seen the census. also possible.)

Who is your main?

This is a question that I could have made better in hindsight. I think a better answer than ‘I can’t decide’ would be ‘I like them all equally’, since I was assuming that all participants of the census did like the Dream Team members either way. It’s not a big mistake, just a small note I wanted to add.

To most likely no one’s surprise - the most popular person among Dreamblr’s population is Dream (224), followed by George (63) and Sapnap (15). 51 participants couldn’t decide on one of them.

Who do you watch besides the DTeam the most (out of other mcyts)? Please list 3 people max.

This question caused more problems than I'd imagined. Guys. I was asking about other MCYT (aka Minecraft Youtubers and Streamers) besides the DTeam. That means that I had to unfortunately eliminate some answers, the most popular out of which was Hasan, who I don’t think has ever played Minecraft before.

To answer some of you, who had some doubts about who counts as a MCYT….

Yes, Wilbur Soot does count.

Yes, Charlie Slimecicle also counts.

Yes, Hermits also count.

I am also counting Ludwig, since he did make Minecraft content.

PeteZahHutt also counts.

Corpse Husband counts as well, since he is technically a DSMP member.

RTGame counts as well - again, Minecraft content on his channel.

Again - Hasan does not count.

Which Dream content is the best content?

Another easy question with an easy answer, where most people either prefer Dream’s Youtube content or just love it all.

What got you into the fandom?

The toughest question to count. I did not expect so many different answers, so in the end I’ve decided to sort all the answers into a few categories (and I am sorry about that I know it’s not the best way to go about it, but here you guys can see all the answers to the question in an google spreadsheet if you want to).
