Hermits as Songs from the Mario Kart Wii OST
(yes specifically Wii, not mariokart 8. Their rendition of moo moo meadows is bad)
Bdubs- Maple Treeway (pretty song for the man with pretty builds. who am I kidding, all their builds are pretty lol. still think this one is vibey and suits him)
Beef- Moo Moo Meadows (yes, I think the chill vibes fit him, it's not just because there are cows. It's maybe a little bit just because there are cows)
Cleo- Luigi Circuit and Mario Circuit (first off, can't believe they used the same song for two courses. second off, nice song with interesting stuff going on throughout. she can have two courses, as a treat)
Cub- GBA Battle Course 3 (funky beat with higher energy and also just plain fun)
Doc- Grumble Volcano (spooky ominous song for the man who insists on playing a villain lol, but there's still more to it to make the song interesting)
Etho- N64 DK's Jungle Parkway (can't believe this man always builds in a jungle. same tune all the way through reflects his consistency in content [I mean this in a good way lol, his videos are great])
False- Rainbow Road (pretty song, gives me the sort of grand feeling that reminds me of her s9 base)
Grian- Chain Chomp Roulette (I don't know how to explain it but half the tune sounds like it's a satire of the funky chicken dance. Kinda baffling but still a good time)
Gem- Coconut Mall (a lot of fun but not overwhelmingly chaotic, iconic)
Hypno- SNES Battle Course 4 (look man idk, it's literally past midnight and this is what I'm doing. it fits his vibe I think)
Impulse- DS Delphino Square (good song with a lot going on, but balances it all very well)
Iskall- GCN Mario Circuit (great song with just the right amount of funk to it to keep things interesting)
Jevin- GBA Shy Guy Beach (got me boppin my head man, very pleasant tunes)
Joe- SNES Ghost Valley 2 (less a song and more like two minutes of spooky noises being strung together, which sounds like the kind of bit he'd commit to. Beetlejhost)
Joel- Moonview Highway (high energy, kinda crazy, lots of fun and great vibes)
Keralis- GCN Peach Beach (matches his tropical vibe this season)
Mumbo- Koopa Cape (kinda weird. kinda funky. half of it sounds like it's underwater, who comes up with this stuff)
Pearl- Mushroom Gorge (bouncy, lots of personality, lots of layers to the music and lots of layers to the detailing in her builds)
Ren- Aqua Resort (a banger, keeps things insteresting all the way through, a lot of fun)
Scar- GCN Cookie Land (not just because of the cookie shop lol. bouncy tune, a good time for Mr. Goodtimes)
Skizz- Finished Race [First Place] Results (not a course related song but still a banger, giving it to him because he deserves first place, and because I've only got good memories associated with it)
Stress- Daisy Circuit (pretty song, fairly chill with just a bit of a kick to it, reminds me of her brand of chaos)
Tango- Toads Factory (very industrial, fits his base this season. I was tempted to give it to Doc though)
TFC- Wario's Gold Mine (while a chiller track would probably fit him better, we're settling for the Mine One. Still a good song though)
Wels- N64 Mario Raceway (a bit calmer as far as some of these songs go, but no less interesting and fun for it)
xB- DK Snowboard Cross (calm. vibey. could have half his house blown up in demise and still be cool about it)
Xisuma- Block Plaza (fun, and the blocky noise reminds me of tech-related kinda stuff. not exactly reflective of his more naturey build style, but does relate a bit to his minecraft update videos or redstone work)
Zed- Dry Dry Ruins (much like this song randomly switching to a completely different song halfway through, I never know what he'll be doing next)
Playlist of the songs if anyone cares enough to listen to it and tell me why I'm wrong lol, but given I spent several hours on this and most people don't listen to the mario kart wii soundtrack for fun, I'm willing to assume I'm in safe waters

An extremely controversial ranking of Mariokart 8’s 95 courses.
I know there’s 96 but I’ve missed one and can’t figure out for the life of me which one it was. Please help.

Big blue - a masterpiece
Mount wario - another masterpiece
Coconut mall - let down by its remakes but still a classic
Maple treeway - pumpkin spice latte

Squeaky clean spirit - probably the best new course out the whole pack
Bowser’s castle 3 - simple but fucking amazing

So I guess my predictions for Mario Kart 8's last DLC wave (based on datamined information)
Spoilers below cut ⏬
Acorn Cup
Tour Rome Avali
Wii Daisy Circuit
Piranha Plant Pipeline
SNES Bowser Castle 3/SNES Vanilla Lake 2
Spiny Cup
Tour Madrid Drive
GCN DK Mountain/GCN Dino Dino Jungle
Piranha Plant Cove
Wii Rainbow Road/GBA Bowser Castle 4
I kinda have this on an either/or thing- if Daisy Circuit did take the datamined Wii Slot instead of Rainbow Road, then Bowser Castle 4 would be the best track they could finish the DLC on. The Tour Remake of GBA BC 4 is AMAZING so it would be a shame for it not to be included. And obviously if that Bowser Castle gets in then they probably won't do the SNES one so Vanilla Lake 2 is the next best choice from the available options.
However if SNES BC 3 is the final course and there isn't a GBA course in the last wave I'd love to see DS Airship Fortress or 3DS Rosalina's Ice World

rundown of some games ive been playing the last week or so bc hey through NSO i have them so may as well try them out
- Metroid 2: loved this one actually. i think basically every metroid i play i end up loving a lot but metroid 1 is the exception to that i just cannot play it at all and i was worried 2 would be the same but no it’s actually really really good, super unique! very cool idea for a metroid game even if it strays a bit from what you’d usually look for in a metroid game and the ending is so sweet. would love to very legally play the remake one day
- Mario Land 2: fun one. pretty much all there is to it. some pretty creative levels (space and macro are especially memorable), one of the powerups letting you fly over half the levels is hilarious and that wario sprite is really really scary i like it a lot. solid mario platformer!
- Yoshi’s Story: scary........ really scary.....................
- Super Mario World: I’m really not as into it as others I don’t think... something about the controls just don’t work well for me. Maybe it’s the way they’re set up I wish I could remap them. Spinny jump should be shoulder buttons not A!! It’s so wrong!!!!
- Kirby’s Dream Land 3: like mario world it just feels strange to control i think. not bc the button layout feels wrong either that’s fine (though I couldn’t find a way to discard my copy ability??) but it all feels just a bit slow and sluggish. levels i was playing also felt way too filled with enemies to move around or enjoy it... idk just wasn’t into it. didn’t have these issues with the gameboy or NES kirbies
- Link to the Past: Good!! Really good. Lots of points I’ve gotten really confused (dark world lost woods dungeon is really baffling me rn) but it’s fun figuring it all out and there’s some surprisingly sweet moments in there like the boy with the flute. wish the zoras were sexy
- Tetris: I’m pretty much just noting this one bc the gameboy version of tetris with colours from the GBA is the version i grew up with so having those colours back gave me a rush of nostalgia like nothing else. love it love it love it
- Mario Kart Super Circuit: really weird instalment in the series bc it’s like if mario kart never evolved past the SNES and just kept going like this. really scary alternate universe to think about. as a one-off though that makes it fun, was really into the special cup too
- Mario Kart 64: Peach going “take that” and “bingo” is really funny you go girlboss

Princess Peach Month Post #3 | Friday, 08.30.24
It's almost the end of August, which is known by Nintendo as "Princess Peach Month", so I'll post on a few random games featuring Peach, the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom right now.
Games featuring Princess Peach - Part 3:
Mario Kart series (various; 1992-present)
Since the release of Super Mario Kart in 1992 on the SNES, Princess Peach has been playable in every major release in the Mario Kart series (excluding Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit). In terms of driving styles, she's usually lightweight (giving her high acceleration and speed, but is easy to push around by heavy racers like Donkey Kong, Wario or Bowser), but since later games (either since Mario Kart: Double Dash!! or Mario Kart DS), she's been a middleweight character.
Featured game: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch, 2017)
Tumblr media
Mario Party series (various; 1998-present)
Excluding Mario Party-e, Peach has been playable in every Mario Party game since the original game released in late 1998 on the Nintendo 64.
In some games, she's known to either have a special party board dedicated to her (like Peach's Birthday Cake from the original game as a primary example) or to use key items to become the Ultimate Superstar.
Featured game: Mario Party Superstars (Nintendo Switch, 2021)
Tumblr media
Super Smash Bros. series (various; 1999-present)
Info: Since her playable debut in Melee (released in 2001 for the Nintendo GameCube), Peach is a lightweight character with one of the most
Featured game: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo Switch, 2018)
Tumblr media
Princess Peach: Showtime! (Nintendo Switch, 2024)
Info: coming soon

you know, the more you think about it, the more the booster course pass feels like the culmination of this era of mario kart
first two classic courses in mario kart 8 were a wii course and Mario Circuit, last two courses in the Booster Course Pass are Bowser's Castle and a wii course
the aforementioned first course is specifically Moo Moo Meadows, one of the first new courses in mario kart wii. the spiny cup ends on Rainbow Road, the last new course in Mario Kart Wii
the original mario kart 8 featured two Wii courses, wave 6 features two Wii courses
the last cup of the Pass is the Spiny Cup, an enhanced version of the Shell Cup, the first Classic Cup in every appearance
the first course of the first Shell Cup (back in Mario Kart DS) was SNES Mario Circuit 1, the penultimate course of the Spiny Cup is SNES Bowser Castle 3 (the last SNES Bowser Castle)
the Booster Course Pass added Waluigi Pinball, Daisy Cruiser, and Rosalina's Ice World, meaning every major character has a course (if we count the Luigi's Mansion battle course)
Rome Avanti. Mario is Italian. Do the math.
Diddy Kong and Funky Kong are on the bottom row, which was originally used by the Mario Kart 8 DLC characters
