not-so-secret glances ||bsk||
Summary- Seungkwan catches you staring at his hands and decides to have a little fun.
based on an anon req- hope you liked this !! pt.2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You loved nights like these- tucked away in bed, book in hand with your boyfriend beside you, doing his own thing. The domesticity of laying together in comfortable silence made your heart swell. Seungkwan could be your forever. You hoped one day, he would.
While you read, the soft noises of Seungkwan's phone caught your attention. He was playing Kart Rider. Cute. You peaked over to glance at his progress, but something else seemed to have caught your eye. His fingers.
How he moved them, so deftly across the screen, had you squirming. You squeezed your thighs together, hoping to dull the ache between your legs, and tore your gaze away, returning to your book. About a minute later, however, your eyes found their way back to his hands.
The book in your lap was now long forgotten, lying face down. Your eyes scanned over each digit, noting the pale skin that let his veins peak through just right. Each long, slender finger, had you drooling. They'd reach so deep within you- touch the spots you never could.
You didn't even realise how long you'd been staring for, until a gravely voice breaks you out of your trance.
"I can see you y'know," His eyes remain on the screen in front of him, and he continues, "if you're gonna stare, at least make it less obvious, doll"
Your eyes snap back to the shamelessly discarded book on your lap, and you mumble "I'm not- I wasn't staring"
"hm? so those weren't your eyes burning holes into my phone?"
"I don't know what you're talking about"
Oh you have his attention now.
Seungkwan turns to face you, clicking his phone off as a crease sets in his brow.
"you don't know what I'm talking about, baby? are you sure?"
You nod, unable to meet his gaze.
"liar," he tuts, "I know you were looki-"
"I- I wasn't!"
Seungkwan shoots you a warning glare, and your mouth seals shut. He tosses his phone aside, pulling you under him as he grabs your face.
"do you really wanna lie to me, sweetheart?"
The icy tone of his voice sends shivers down your spine. Part of you wants to be a brat, continue lying, but you know better. Your boyfriend's got a bit of a mean streak, and you have no intention of pushing him today. You shake your head, wide eyes staring up into his.
"good. now tell me, what were you staring at so intently, hm?"
You look away, gulping thickly at the saliva in your throat. It's quiet for a moment. Seungkwan's jaw ticks, its muscles flexing at your lack of response. He tugs your face closer, lowering his own, and whispers against your lips- "oh no, baby you don't get to keep quiet today,"
"you either tell me and I give you a reward, or you keep your mouth shut and I leave you high and dry- don't think I haven't noticed how you've kept your thighs pressed together,"
"h-hands, I was looking at your hands," you whimper urgently, "please don't be mean kwannie"
"mmm that depends, baby- can you be good? can you be a good girl for me?"
"yes-" your voice comes out embarrassingly breathy, "so good for you"
Seungkwan's hand cups your face, finally connecting your lips to his. It's slow and needy and painfully desperate. You can't help the way your hands pull him closer, fisting his shirt, tugging his hair.
His tongue licks into you, exploring the cavern of your mouth with such precision, you find it hard to keep up. Already struggling to breathe, you feel your senses heighten when he trails a hand down to your clit, slipping under your panties.
"kw-kwannie wai-" you gasp, "oh my god"
His fingers circle your clit, toying around with the sensitive bud while you moan into his mouth. It's hard to focus with him everywhere.
Just as you think he can't push you further, Seungkwan tugs at your bottom lip, nipping it with his teeth as he pulls away ever so slightly. It's a simple act- kiss, bite, pull- but god it has your brain fuzzing over.
You moan, hips bucking into his hand, and he takes full advantage by slipping a long digit into your sopping heat.
"oh"
Your lips hang open, and he grins, pulling away.
"you gonna cum, sweetheart? hm? gonna cum like this?"
A pathetic whimper slips past your lips, "please 'm'so close". Seungkwan grins.
"I know, baby- but you can wait, can't you? you can be good for kwannie, yeah?"
You clench around his finger, whimpering as you nod. Anything for Seungkwan. Anything.
The stretch of your walls isn't much, but it burns when you have to hold yourself back while his fingers continue their movement. His thumb pushes down on your clit and you let out a sob, tears welling in your eyes.
"aw," he coos, a faux pout gracing his features "don't cry pretty- all you have to do is ask,"
"please,"
"you can do better than that, doll, c'mon"
"kwannie please it hurts- I've been good, I've been- fuck- so good"
"have you? little liar-"
"m'sorry-" you sob, "m'sorry, sorry sorry sorr-"
Seungkwan gives in to your desperate pleas, shoving the digit deeper into you, and you cry out.
"oh baby, I know- I know, let go for me, kay? that's it pretty, just like- fuck just like that"
You tremble under the weight of your orgasm, a string of moans leaving your parted lips. Seungkwan eases you through it, whispering quiet praise into your ears before collecting your arousal with his fingers and popping them into his mouth.
He groans.
"so fucking sweet-"
Before you can process his words, he pushes his lips back onto yours, and you can taste yourself on his tongue.
Breaths escape you too fast for your liking, and you find yourself pulling away for air within seconds.
"colour?" he asks so sweetly you almost forget how mean he was being.
"green"
Seungkwan slots his thigh between your legs, pushing up until your cunt presses flush against his hard muscle. "you know what to do, doll"
A whine escapes you and he pushes harder, "be good and I'll give you a reward, hm? how's that?". You moan, grinding up against his thigh while your hands roam his back, urgently tugging at his clothes.
"so needy today," he says, amused. His pretty lips curl up into a sly smirk and you feel your hole flutter around nothing. "gettin' yourself off on my thigh like a good little girl"
"kwanniee-" Your voice draws out, extending into an 'uh' sound as your poor clit tugs against his skin. Your hips stutter momentarily and his eyes darken, narrowing at you.
"didn't tell you to stop." A hand makes its way up to your neck, and he squeezes, just enough to get you feeling light-headed. The weight of his hand against your throat has you drooling, and as if on cue, your body begins moving on its own- as if under some sort of spell.
"that's it, sweetheart,"
All you can do is moan in response, one hand clutching his wrist as he chokes you. Your body feels electric under his touch, skin on edge with every moment of contact. You know he sees it too with the way his pants tighten at your cries.
"kwa-nnie- m'close- can I cum? please?"
Your hips rut against his thigh, increasing in speed, and your eyes flutter closed. A sharp squeeze against your throat coaxes them open and Seungkwan licks his lips- "go ahead, doll"
A sob echoes through the room, followed by chants of his name, over and over, until he shuts you up with a passionate kiss. Your sounds, although muffled by his tongue in your throat, fill up the space. It was embarrassing almost, how he made you sing under his touch.
Your clit ached. It hurt how sensitive you were.
"so proud of my girl," he coos, pulling away, "you can gimme another, can't you, baby? on my tongue?"
Ignoring the electricity shooting up your body despite the lack of stimulation, you nod, breath hitching as he crawls down your body, leaving a trail of harsh purple bruises on his way to your cunt.
"you've got the prettiest pussy I've ever seen, y'know that?" He breaks off into a loud groan that reverberates against your cunt as his tongue latches itself onto your clit. You jump at the contact, almost losing yourself once again.
Licking you open, Seungkwan brings his hands to your inner thighs, splaying them open to get better access to your clit. He pulls the hood of your clit back with his thumb and traces around it with the tip of his tongue. The action sends you reeling. Your already-sensitive clit throbs under his tongue, you're certain he can feel it too when he pulls back, looking up at you.
"baby," he pouts, "you still sensitive?"
You nod.
"good."
Before you can even breathe, Seungkwan attacks your clit with full gusto- tongue lapping precisely at the throbbing nub as he inhaled your scent. You cry out and your hands tremble as they reach for his hair, fervently threading through his dark locks- whether to pull him closer or shove him away, you aren't sure.
Within moments you feel your orgasm build, yet again, a familiar coil tightening deep in your belly. Trembling limbs threaten to snap shut against Seungkwan's face, but his arms hold them in place, a low warning grunted against your clit.
"easy"
You knew better than to disobey. Your boyfriend wasn't above edging, teasing, anything, honestly. With your orgasm so close, you were on your best behaviour for him.
"m'sorry-" you gasped, tugging on his hair harder, "m'sorry- kwannie"
All he does is groan in response, feeling how you squirm under him. Must be close.
Seungkwan pushes harder with his tongue, spreading you wider, and flicks at your clit- this is your undoing.
Hot liquid coats his mouth, his chin, and your chest heaves like you've just run a marathon. Stars bloom behind your eyes. Your body feels like a live wire.
To tease just a little, he places a kiss on your clit- which you gasp and jolt away from- before crawling back up to you and pushing his lips against yours.
"I love you"
"mm I love you too kwannie- feel so good right now" You mumble, pulling him closer into a tight embrace.
"let's get you cleaned up, okay sweetheart?"

Bad Batch Hunter x reader
Summary: Hunter returns home after saying goodbye to Omega. *Set just after the Season 3 epilogue scene*
Pairing: Bad Batch Hunter x f!reader
Word Count: 1,539
Warnings: Bad Batch Season 3 spoilers, married Hunter, older hunter, fluff, comfort, cuddles, HUNTER DESERVES LOTS OF CUDDLES AND KISSES
Divider by @freesie-writes & @snotbuggle
A/N: I truly adore this show and just wanted to write a little piece for Hunter. He did so well and is such a good father figure for Omega. That epilogue meant everything to me. I wish we saw older Crosshair and Wrecker, but I'm also quite glad it was a final moment between those two. It was always meant to be them. I will love and cherish them forever.
I hope you all like this. It's a little rough and rushed, and it's just raw emotions being processed onto a page after the finale, but I still wanted to post! Enjoy! x

It’s almost sunrise when you wake up. You sleepily reach out, cold underneath the sheets, and you realise the familiar warmth of your husband is gone. Your eyes blink open with a frown as you pat the bed, almost to make sure he is actually gone. Sitting up in the bed, you blink blearily, taking in the room. It’s dark, but your eyes adjust quickly, the faint lighting of a new day approaching helping you see the dimly lit room. You roll over the bed gently, and you see his boots are gone, and his overshirt that he had left hanging over the edge of the bed last night.
The entire house is quiet, which almost makes you confident that Batcher is gone as well. You let out a soft whistle, a quick two-tone note. Nothing like the loud army shrill your husband does to call the lurker hound. When there is no distant sound of barking, no heavy pads of paws on the ground, you sigh softly.
Gently getting out of bed, you move to pull on your trousers and the quickest shirt being one of his thick, long sleeved ones. As you slip it on, you breathe in the smell of him and let your shoulders sag. It wasn’t normal for him to be gone this early. His side of the bed had been cold when you had felt it. He had been gone for hours. At least Batcher would be with him. You hope, anyway.
Pulling on a quick small pair of boots, she moves towards the door but pauses by the window as she hears voices outside. As she peers out, she sees Wrecker and Crosshair standing talking. Crosshair is almost silent with his words, speech always raspy and quiet but sharp. Wrecker, thinking he was being quiet, was still quite loud. But the early morning rays indicated it wasn't long till the residents of Pabu would awaken.
Crosshair strokes his chin gently, fingers brushing over the soft wisps of grey turning white hair. His hair finally growing back in revealed it to now finally be more silver white than the original grey it used to be back in the days of the Republic. Wrecker still stands tall, and the body is still accumulating so much muscle, but he looks softer, rounder. Years of enjoying and actually living life and eating good food. His lips are drawn into a tight line from where you can see, his jaw covered in a soft wiry fuzz of scruff - the start of a beard that is accentuated with fine white hairs now amidst the dark ones.
The flurry of quick hand movements between the two have you frowning before you all hear a distant bark. You glance through the window to the right. Coming up over the hill, the rising sun casts light across the path as the old lurker hound ambles up the street. Batcher picks up speed slightly as she spots Crosshair and Wrecker, forever excited to see them. It’s then you see your husband, not too far behind Batcher. He walks slowly, his head down slightly, but he looks up as he spots his brothers.
He seems to stand up straighter then as he notices them, almost instinctively falling back into the roll of Seagerant after so long. Crosshair gets up slowly from where he had knelt down to stroke Batcher, leaving his prosthetic hand to rest on the back of her neck as he faces Hunter. Wrecker’s eyes are full of apprehension as if he knows what Hunter is to tell them, but he desperately doesn't want it to be the case.
When Hunter reaches them, you watch as he simply nods his head and says a few words. The three brothers stand in silence for a moment. Whatever news he had just shared, it brings a sombre moment, but then Wrecker’s smiling. He makes a comment, followed by a booming laugh. Crosshair's face twists up into an amused smirk, and he replies with his own comment. Your husband says something else, and they fall silent for a moment. It’s then Crosshair takes a step forward and rests his hand on Hunter’s shoulder, and they share a look. Before anything can be said, Wrecker envelopes them into his arms, a signature crushing hug from the big man that has them all smiling and reminiscing.
Wrecker puts them down, and they all share a final smile. It’s then the old girl barks, and Crosshair rolls his eyes fondly, the hound sticks to his side, ready for her breakfast. They all seemed to nod and head off in their own separate ways. A new day is beginning after all. As Hunter turns towards your home, you move and gently open the door and lean in the doorway and smile at him.
He glances at you and pauses for a moment, a fond smile on his face before he continues to walk forward to you. Like second instinct, you hold your arms open and let him hold you close and tight against him.
“Hi.” You whisper to him.
“Hey.” He responds softly. His voice reserved slightly, like when he’s lost in thought.
“Hey, come back to me.” You whisper softly, leaning back to cup his tattooed side of his face, fingers brushing over his dark beard.
His eyes tell you everything. They’re tired from being up so early. They’re full of love and adoration for you. They reflect peace. They show sadness. You smile sadly then, as you realise. This is the look of a father who has just had to let go and say goodbye. No matter how much he doesn’t wish for it to be the case.
“Omega?” You ask softly, stepping back, so you both gravitate back into your home.
He nods then. A small smile plays on his lips, his eyes softening.
“She left first thing in the early hours of the morning. Thought she could sneak away.” He chuckles, a gruff noise in his throat.
“She spoke about the Rebellion so often. It was only a matter of time before she would want to go help.” You stroke his cheek as you watch his melancholic expression.
“I know…” He breaks away so he can sit and take his boots off, and you do the same. You both leave them by the door, and he rises to stand in front of you again.
You hold your hand to him, and he instantly takes it.
“You’re a wonderful father, Hunter. I know it. Your brothers know it, and Omega knows it.” You whisper to him, taking both of his hands.
His thumbs stroke along your knuckles in a soothing motion for himself and for you. His left thumb focuses on running across your ring. He raises his eyes to look into yours.
“You’ve raised her wonderfully. She is such a bright, beautiful young woman now, and the Rebellion is lucky to have her.” You say and then grin. “You practically prepared her for this.”
He huffs and rolls his eyes fondly at you, lips quirked up into a small smile.
“I was once told battle droids were easier to handle compared to raising a kid.” He muses. “They weren't wrong.”
“Hunter, love, she’ll be fine. She knows you’ll come if you need her.”
“I’d be there in a heartbeat.” He promises, and his voice is so strong and earnest. You could never not believe him. The sergeant shines through in that moment.
You lean forward and kiss him softly, and his hands move to hold you close. Your foreheads then meet in a keldabe kiss, and you smile at him.
“C’mon old man, let's go back to bed for a bit.” You tease him with a grin.
“Who are you calling old man? The days are just starting.” He rolls his eyes and tries to hide his smile.
“And you’ve hardly slept.” You argue back, nudging your forehead against his. “C’mon, a little nap won’t hurt anyone.”
You lead him to the bedroom and smile as you help him take his overshirt off and drape it back over the edge of the bed. Laying down, he holds you close in his arms and still keeps his eyes open and watching you.
“You’ve done so good, love.” You whisper and lean forward, pressing gentle kisses across his face. “It’s okay to miss her. It’s normal. We all will miss her. But she’ll be okay. She’ll come back one day. Now you can rest.”
HIs eyes close as he embraces your touch. His breathing relaxes.
“Rest love, I’ve got you.” You whisper as you watch him drift off. “We’ve got you. You can rest now.”
You press a final kiss to his brow, right below his bandana, before you lay your head on the pillow next to him. The sun has risen now. You can hear the residents of Pabu begin their day. Birds in the distance. You swear even without enhanced senses like Hunter, you can hear the ocean. You look at him one final time before your eyes drift close. It’s a new day. They're here and alive. How exciting it is to live. To live and to love. To do whatever they want.

felt awkward to tack this on the prev post so i'm,.,,,,,,,,, here
but!! i'm not just gonna like Make An OC and then only ever have one drawing and a small blurb about them and then just never acknowledge them again, no!! i gotta properly doodle and figure things about about the character and Make Them A Proper Character!!! so i doodled more of aron's helsmet :VVV
and then also. wrote about aron's helsmet. to feel out the character and explore around how she and her person interact with and feel about each other :VVVVV
Posting the one-shot under the cut!!!
It had been a good hour and a half of solid work when the redstoner, hunched over a worktable with bits and bobs in hand, realized she didn't have enough redstone to finish what she'd wanted to get done for the day. She bit back an irritated sigh, and opted to check the drawers under her work table. None there, just like there was none in her backup storage on the other side of the room, just like there was none in her inventory. She let the sigh loose as she slumped into her chair, and ran her hand down her face. Her eyes glanced to the project currently taking up her free time: while right now it was a mess of metal and circuitry, one day it was going to be a pair of glider wings. Gods and saints knew she wasn't ever going to get her hands on any elytra or her counterpart's wings, so she knew she'd have to make them on her own if she wanted them. This did mean, however, a visit that she didn't want to bother with, ever, preferably. But she couldn't afford to pay anyone else to make any sort of supply runs for her, and wasn't sure she'd even want to anyway- she felt ripped off last time she'd tried that.
Resigned, she pushed herself up to standing, and started rummaging around in her chests for supplies. Pickaxes, armor, torches, sword, anything she needed for a run. Several minutes later, she stood with a ready inventory in the middle of the room, hands on her hips as she let her eyes wander over everything. ...And keep wandering over everything.
Hels help her, she did not want to go.
But she rolled her eyes at her own stupid procrastination, and looked to the nearest light source- currently her lamp on the desk- and focused. And briefly, inexplicably, she felt traces of warmth on her skin as from the sun, and could swear a faint breeze barely rustled her hair as she caught a slight whiff of something fresh and green and growing. Trees. A forest.
Better put her armor on first, then. Feather falling would only help so much, but better than nothing. And besides, her other's competence in flying would be enough to keep them from crashing too hard, she was confident in that much. She buckled the boots on with a grim smirk.
At least she'd get to have fun with it.
Enchantment on, she again focused on the light, mentally preparing to act fast as soon as she was over. The light, and slowly, everything else in the room, fuzzed into white as she tipped over the precipice of spatial travel, and went into freefall. Her stomach flipped as new surroundings blinked into view, namely open sky, and her hand shot out and grabbed at the green blur in her peripheral.
"Ack-!"
She'd caught hold, and the two spun out.
"What are-?!"
The world somehow righted, and she silently gripped the harness strap she'd managed to nab as they awkwardly stilted through the trees down to the ground. It wasn't as hard of a landing as she'd hoped- they still both stumbled around each other and ended up on their knees at the end of it- but she'd take what she could get.
"What was that for?" her other, Aron, asked, breathless.
She didn't answer, instead looking around at their surroundings. Should be something decent nearby. She set off in a direction.
"Hey, wait wait wait-!" Aron called, jogging to catch up. "Nice to see you, too," she said sarcastically, and was again met with silence. It stuck for a second or two before Aron started again. "Really, though, like- I could feel when you were about to- I can get down to the ground before you do that, probably, just like- can you wait next time, maybe?"
"I know you can," she responded, but otherwise didn't answer.
Aron made a flabbergasted noise. "Then why- we could've both been hurt! Or respawned!"
She just shrugged.
There was the start of a reply behind her, and then it cut off with a sigh.
They walked in silence for a second.
"...So what are you doing?"
"Why d'you need to know?"
"I dunno, it's- I mean, if- I could help you with something."
She'd just tried to- why would- ugh. This was why she didn't like her. Always tried to kiss up to everyone.
Or kiss up to her, at least. Absolutely useless gesture.
"I'm gettin’ materials, if you really have to know. And no, I don't need you to come with. What part of I Tried To Take Us Both Out Of The Sky made you think I'd want help?"
The steps behind her stopped, and she relaxed a little- but then they started up again.
"Well, it's- it's just dangerous in the caves and such by yourself, so... You prob'ly should have help, y'know? Besides, I uh... I was going to get materials, too."
Great.
Perfect.
Wonderful.
...And yet, she had to acknowledge one of Aron's points. Caving was dangerous on your own, particularly when you were still unaccustomed to all of the dangers this world was only too keen to provide. Having a second person... could be useful, she supposed.
She sighed.
"Fine. Anything happens to me, I'm gonna blame you."
“Ok! Um, that- that works, you can do that. Uh… the cave I was gonna go to was over there.” She assumed Aron pointed, and a glance back showed she did, off to the left. “I’d marked it the other day, but I never went in to check it out properly. We could…?”
Well, it’d be quicker than trying to find one on her own. She pivoted, and quietly snerked when Aron just about ran into her.
She heard Aron take in a breath, but didn’t find out if she was going to comment on the pivot or the laugh because she apparently thought better of it and didn't say anything at all.
—-----
Surprisingly, Aron was fairly quiet for the trip to the cave- and even when they arrived, she was still quiet aside from the occasional callout- she needed the coal here, the iron over there would be good, she’ll grab this gravel real quick to try for flint later. It was something she reciprocated, if only for sake of not losing each other.
It was… weird.
And nice.
It almost felt like she was alone, really, but without the worries of having to constantly watch her back. She kept an eye on the front, and Aron faithfully kept up the rear.
At one point, they found a huge dripstone cavern. Even upon first glance it was clear there was a lot of loot to be had- and mobs to clear out. Aron provided a water bucket for a safe decent.
She noticed Aron didn’t use her wings to get down, instead going down the water after her.
She wasn’t sure whether she was insulted or not.
“If you don’t mind me asking, um- what’re you getting materials for?”
And there it was. Asked with the worst timing, as well, because they were reaching the bottom.
So all she answered with was, “Mobs,” and pulled her sword and shield out, to which Aron awkwardly conceded and pulled out her own weapon.
The blessed lack of conversation resumed as they circled out from their drop point, throwing down torches and clearing out what they could.
But no good thing lasts forever, and when no mobs were in sight, Aron brought it up again.
“So- since they’re all gone, what uh- what’re the materials for?”
“I’m makin’ a giant bomb to drop off at your base next time I visit.”
“I- sorry, what?” Aron squeaked, and she rolled her eyes.
“Bein’ facetious. It’s a personal project. Not for you.”
“...Oh.”
Silence, only broken by a faint skeleton’s clatter that was too far off to bother with. She spotted some iron and opened her mouth to call it, but Aron spoke first.
“Oh, hey, uh- there’s some uh- there’s some gold up there.” Aron pointed to a crevice, and they both set off towards it. She’d get the iron after.
“...Um, also, I know you don’t want- me to call you… my name.” Oh hels, this again. “But it’s… kinda weird to just like- ‘hey’ at you, y’know? Um. Is there anything that uh… you’d like to be called?”
Truth be told, this was something that’d stuck with her the last time they’d had this discussion and though, at the time, she gave no answer at all and made sure to be plenty rude about it, she’d mulled it over a bit. Eventually, she did come up with something, though it was a tad on-the-nose.
It was just Aron in reverse. Nora. Simple, but it seemed fitting, all things considered.
But she didn’t want Aron to ever call her that, let alone call her any sort of consistent name ever, so she didn’t say anything about wanting to be called Nora.
“No.”
“Like… not even a nickname, or anything…?”
“Nah. Keep ‘hey’ing me all you want. Or… um- something. Don’t call me anything. No names.” Nora reached the gold first. Aron let her have them, apparently stumped by her answer. Or stunned, either way. “Saw some iron back there,” she said after grabbing the grand total of two pieces of gold ore, and started back towards it without checking if she was being followed. The footsteps behind her told her she didn’t need to. As she walked, she looked to the side- and down. There was a whole other level to the cavern below them, and she was already attempting to take stock of what there was down there. It was really dark, so she couldn’t hardly see anything, but she thought she might could make out some redstone in the wall closer to the top.
Finally.
Clattering bones sounded again suddenly, much closer than they had been before, and she turned just in time to get an arrow to her shoulder. She gasped, hand darting to it as she stumbled back from the hit- and then all air escaped her lungs as she slipped right off the edge and plummeted. Air whistled past her ears as she somehow managed to wriggle herself to face the ground, desperately trying to get her water bucket out despite the fact that she’d never actually had to clutch before and didn’t even know if she could but she was falling too fast and couldn’t wrestle the darn thing out in time and
She jerked as her momentum was suddenly swooped to the side. Nora wheezed, the pull stretching her coveralls tight against her throat, but as they slowed to a stop in the near pitch-black, she decided she did at least prefer that to dying and having to come back again later. Aron settled them against the ground smoothly, making sure Nora was on her feet before clicking her wings back into place.
“Are you-” Groans started filling the cavern. “Right-! Right, shelter first, right yes, um-” Nora screwed her eyes shut as Aron threw a torch down, the light blinding on eyes that had been attempting to adjust. “UhhHH over here!” Aron grabbed at Nora’s wrist, but she jerked it away. Aron halted awkwardly, and glanced up, making eye contact.
Nora couldn’t even come up with anything to say, and upon realizing she didn’t have time to anyways, shouldered past Aron (on her good side, of course) and stalked towards the wall behind her. Probably, hopefully, where Aron had been planning on going anyway. She pulled out a pickaxe and slammed it into the wall, biting back a yelp as it jarred her hurt shoulder. Once her other joined her they made quick work of digging out an alcove and quickly dropping materials in front to block them in. This time, Nora already had her eyes shut when Aron stuck a torch down in the small space. Eyes still closed, she leaned back against the wall, this time wincing, and slid down it, a now emptied hand going back to her shoulder. The arrow was still in it.
“Do you need-”
“I don’t have any potions on me.”
“-Ah. I think I do, um…” Aron started digging in her bag, and after a second, triumphantly pulled out two. “Ah! I do! Um, here, I can-”
“Just give it,” Nora hissed, jerking forwards and snatching one out of Aron’s hand- and Aron flinched back, breath hitching for just a moment. Nora purposefully wasn’t looking at her, and wasn’t watching out of the corner of her eye as she tried to tear the cork out with her teeth, and definitely didn’t notice the solid second it took for Aron’s shoulders to- possibly forcefully- relax.
Except she definitely was and did, and puffed out a breath through her nose at Aron’s reaction. Good. She needed to keep Aron on her toes anyway. Or something like that.
If only the stupid bottle would-
“Um. …here,” Aron said quietly, holding out the other bottle. She’d already pulled the cork out. Nora paused, fixing her eyes on the bottle. After a second, she put the one she’d been wrestling one-handed in her pocket and took the offered one. And then promptly downed it, and before she could second-guess what she was doing, she grabbed the arrow and yanked it out as hard as she could- and it hurt.
But she wasn’t going to cry- not here, not in front of Aron, not while the healing potion was already making her want to scratch her whole shoulder clean off, not while she was gripping it in iron fingers with eyes scrunched and teeth bared and backed against the wall.
And then it was over, and she was fine.
She was fine.
Slowly, she took a breath, and then another, eyes still shut, head tilting back against the wall.
She didn’t want to have to acknowledge literally anything that happened in the past two minutes.
She didn’t want to acknowledge how stupid it had been to walk that close to the edge, didn’t want to acknowledge Aron swooping in, didn’t want to acknowledge the potions, Aron's reaction, none of it. At all.
Aron probably wouldn’t let her not acknowledge it in some form or fashion, but she still had the two of them sit in silence for as long as Aron could stand it.
…Which turned out to be a lot longer than Nora thought it would be. The silence stretched on, slowly becoming thick with awkward air that apparently neither wanted to address.
“Oh.”
Nora glanced up at the hushed statement. Aron was staring at the wall. Nora’s eyes followed the line of sight.
Embedded in the wall right above her head was redstone ore.
“Oh,” she echoed.
They stared at the redstone.
And then with a sigh, Nora pushed herself up, and then pulled her pickaxe out.
It turned out to be a decent-sized vein. Still not as much as she wanted, but at least it was something to work with. She could pull out now if she wanted to.
She glanced back at the torch.
…She didn’t want to have to come back for a while. She took in a breath, and looked over at Aron.
“I need more.”
Aron nodded, and then pushed herself up as well. After a moment, they broke the wall down and began clearing out mobs.
—-----
Too much time passed before Nora blinked back into her home. Aron had tried to say a goodbye once she realized Nora was leaving, though she hadn’t managed to get it out quick enough. But it was enough that Nora could tell what she was trying to say.
She wandered into her workroom, and looked around.
Despite her looking at everything in the room, she wasn’t really seeing it all, almost looking past the room as her mind sat and dwelled.
She really shouldn’t have accepted the help in the first place. She knew it was good that she did, in the end, and she knew she would have been in a lot worse of a spot if she hadn’t, and things would have been a lot more frustrating in different ways, but.
No matter how much she tried.
No matter how much she tried, Aron still tried harder. And it was so frustrating, because it was working.
Everything, everything- from the open lack of hostility despite everything Nora threw at her or didn’t, despite Nora trying to take them both down from the get-go, despite the words and the pushing and the anger- Aron still tried.
And the kicker was that it was genuine. Aron could be a tad idiotic going about it, but the genuine friendly intent was still there.
Nora inhaled for a long second, and then released slowly.
She walked to her desk, and pulled redstone out of her inventory, then paused when something shifted against her leg.
Her hand dug in her pocket, and pulled out the other health potion.
…This was why she didn’t like her.
Because even though she grabbed her mid-flight, she knew they wouldn’t crash.
Because even though she was rude, Aron wanted to help.
Because even though she shouldn’t, Aron wanted a name to call her by.
Because even though the universe pitted them against each other, Aron cared too much to let her fall.
Because even if their positions were swapped, Nora would have done the same.
Because even though Aron startling was good, she still felt guilty about scaring her.
She didn't like her because no matter how hard she tried not to, she did anyway.
Nora stared at the health potion.
She put it down.
She took a breath.
She got to work.

hii !! i just had a small fic idea i was hoping you could write?
was thinking like a luke x male reader whos afraid of flying + heights and has to travel with the team for a case, (maybe hes a tech analyst or something similar?) so hes freaked out abt that. he tries not to show it but luke notices and helps him calm down, then stays with him for the whole flight??
Tumblr media

Aerophobia
——————————————————————————————————————
WARNINGS: Anxious!reader, Fear of flying, Implied fear of heights, kissing (nothing sexual), Luke is a sweetheart, non-beta read
WORDS: 604
PAIRING: Luke Alvez x m!reader
——————————————————————————————————————
NOTES - THANK YOU FOR THE REQUEST?? I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS & SORRY IT WAS SO SHORT !!
——————————————————————————————————————
“Come on, baby. I know it's your first case, it's normal to be a little nervous, but you're more than a little.. anything else wrong?” Luke asks, glancing over at you from his spot in the passenger seat, moving his hand over to rest on your thigh. You anxiously chew on your lip, tapping the steering wheel with your thumb as you drive to the airport. “Yeah, well, maybe I have this small, itty bitty, fear of flying.” You admit, glancing over at him as your anxiety reaches mind-fuzzing levels.
He slowly nods his head, turning it to look at you, making you look away from him and back at the road. He gives your thigh a light pat before pulling his hand back, reassuring you, “Everybody's got their fears. But you'll be okay. You're tough, my boy.” You just nod your head, deciding to keep your gaze on the road and mind focused on the case rather than the fact you'll be at least 36,000 feet in the air.
‘Fuck, I can't do this.’ You think to yourself.
By the time You and Luke have reached the airport, your bottom lip is begging for mercy as you chew and chew, nearly breaking skin. You board the jet, getting greeted by Hotch before making your way back to a pair of seats with Luke. All you can think about is how many things there are to worry about. ‘What if things go wrong? What if they think I'm a bad substitute for Garcia? God damnit, Were gonna be so fucking high up.’
As the jet takes off, you swear your anxiety rises with it. You reach for Luke’s hand, grabbing it almost painfully tight. He turns his head, seeing how scared you really are, sweating and chewing through your lip enough that a bit of blood drips down. He reaches over, using his thumb to lightly wipe the blood away while whispering “Hey.. Hey, I'm here with you..” in hopes of soothing your fears. You can't help but snap a bit, quickly responding with “I know you're here. I, however, don't wanna be here. I belong on the ground, not in the sky. I'm a technical analyst, not a fucking bird.” Luke finds a bit of amusement in your response, but refrains from laughing because he can tell you're genuinely scared.
He gives your hand a soft squeeze and pulls you close, kissing your temple. “It's only a three hour flight, baby. You could.. take a nap?” He offers, and you hesitate a few seconds before nodding your head and mumbling “Yeah, yeah. I can.. uh, do that..” as you adjust yourself to lean against him, head on his shoulder and arm around his waist. He moves to cup your jaw and pulls your head up for a quick kiss before letting you settle back down.
Luke gently rubs your back, helping soothe you to sleep. Your anxiety still runs wild, leg bouncing a bit while your teeth continue to dig into your lip. His head leans on top of yours, the feeling of him being so close helping soothe your worries a bit more. It takes a while, about thirty minutes, but you do eventually pass out.
And by the time you wake up, the plane has landed. You're greeted by a smirk from Luke, hearing him say “Wasn't so bad, hm? We didn't die.” You grunt and nudge his shoulder, pushing yourself out of the seat. He stands up with you, getting off the jet with you. “Fuck, finally.. solid ground..” You groan in relief playfully, earning a chuckle from Luke.

I just realized Im over 6 months on T...!!!
My genuine review of T for others who may be considering or just interested in the topic.
Keep in mind that everyone will have different results on T. For me I am on a small dose because my T levels were already high to begin with.
Reasons why I went on T:
Was living out publicly as non binary but I would still feel upset when strangers would misgender me.
Had been wishing that I was more masc body wise and voice wise since at least high school.
Didn't have intense dysphoria but I felt very neutral about my body. It felt strange and like it wasn't progressing how I imagined it would. I had certain features that pissed me off, which I knew T would change.
Dysphoria was triggered in public interactions and when I had to acknowledge my body by myself. I felt like strangers weren't seeing me as me, and felt that I wasn't experiencing my body in the way I wanted to.
Pros:
Everything!!!
Voice that surprises me with how deep it is sometimes. When I lean back against a chair and speak I can feel my diaphragm rumble.
Menstruation stopped almost immediately.
(May be TMI but this is a major thing yet the only thing that I did not know was going to happen before starting). Rapid and significant genital changes. Psychologically helpful for me.
Hairier arms, stomach, and thighs.
Stomach fat and face fat increase. (potentially boob and thigh fat decrease but it may be placebo or just in contrast).
More facial fuzz.
Slightly veinier hands.
Slightly thicker/more muscular arms.
Looking at myself and seeing someone who looks good and confident and masc/butch and feeling great about it. Sometimes I look at myself in the reflections of building windows and get excited.
Being able to discuss T with other friends who are on T.
People misgender me as he/him and a man (Im non binary and go by they/them) more often than misgendering me as she/her and a woman now. This is still not ideal but it bugs me less.
Random queer strangers asking "are you on T!?" and being excited.
Knowing I dont have to live my life as a lie.
Cons:
My pre existing erotophobia (I'm triggered and obsessive over certain things relating to sex) has been activated as I experience new things.
My pre existing paranoia being rebranded into a trans related experience (I worry sometimes people are stalking me and planning to kill me for the slightest things I do wrong, now I worry that its because Im trans). This will go away once I work through my mental illness and internalized bigotry.
Voice hurt when the changes started (like a sore throat for a few weeks as if I was sick).
I cant do a lot of funny voices that I liked doing anymore, but I can do new voices.
New and strange sensations in genital area, during the first few weeks it was very painful (I have Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Vaginismus so this may not be a universal experience).
Became slightly stinkier and oilier when I started, but it seems to have gone away.
I'm non binary and I still feel connected to women and I get anxious that people won't be able to comprehend that. (examples: others might not like me calling myself "butch" or sharing my experiences with womanhood). But this is internal rather than reflective of anything I've experienced. This may be entirely in my head.
Family awkwardness. Family members assuming crazy stories about how I feel. (generic things like: thinking i hate myself and am scared of men so i want to turn myself into a man?!?!😭😭😭). But friends and others do not assume these things.
(TMI but true) Thick buttcrack hair is annoying.
Future thoughts:
I feel very fortunate that my experience with T is going very well.
I know the best parts of T takes time and patience to become apparent so I am excited that I started at 21.
I am proud of achieving what I thought might only be a fantasy, and I hope I can have access to T for the rest of my life.

BFDG prompt 1
[Okay I really liked this, it was a prompt from my doom discord server. it came out really well so I'm editing a bit more and posting it here! not perfect but hope you like it]
“Please, anyone, if you can hear me, if you're out there…” The woman spoke into the small microphone. She closed her eyes tight to the sounds outside of the room the woman was stuck in, the screams had only partly stopped.
At least the human screams.
“Is anyone left?” She asked, defeated but still having to try as she curled up. “The Arc base is overrun, I dont… don’t know if there’s anyone else alive.”
All her and their data was backed up off site, something should be saved. Hopefully to be found once the demons pulled back.
“Is anyone else alive?” The woman asked quietly, paused as there was a deep vibration and screaming from the demons outside the room she was in. “Please…don't come.”
She did not want to die, but did not want more to as well. It reflected in Elena’s voice as she curled up tight for a minute while hearing the slightly muffled, not really human-adjacent scream before hearing the hell altered and full demonic creatures getting excited and running around her hiding spot. She wanted to ask for help, but knew it was hopeless so a soft whimper slipped out as she tried to shut the communication systems off.
“Help me…” the wisped words slipped out as it shut off.
There was an increase of activity on the other side of the walls. Did the demons find another survivor? Elena could only tuck herself farther under the table and curl up, trying to calm down her heart. Though knowing it was only a matter of time before something broke into the office room she was in. Everything was ringing and time fuzzed, just as the woman realized there was an eerie quiet as her breathing got under control again. There was a creaking at the main, double set of doors before a stressed sound of metal was heard. Elena could only cover her head and try to hold her breath as she could only hear the pulse of her blood. Fighting the panic as the office was broken into.
It took a long minute to realize she was not homed onto, and torn apart. A strange sound finally broke through, a low rumbling that was steady, but also…tapping. Elena looked up through her shielding her arms. There was a mass of….metal?
It took almost too long to recognize that it was someone kneeling down beside the big table. The size scale was so off that it took a few moments to realize it was a form kneeling down. A massive hand was tapping the ground in a pattern, and that low rumble was… becoming softer? As if to draw her attention to him.
Olive, black and tan armor, almost alien like metal over massive limbs. Intricate but also solid to hold up against the groves of fangs and claw marks. Part of the armor on the closer left leg was…healing itself?
The massive form, a practical giant in comparison, started to shift. The rumble paused and Elena could hear and see a deep breath. Then the rumble started again, low and thunder deep, almost a vibration in the air as the big creature put both hands on the ground, lowering themselves down until a helmet the woman had only seen in security feeds was peering under at her.
All at once, she recognized who was staring at her.
How could she not? She spent the last several years studying this being from a distance.
But knowing a lion was massive and seeing one up close were two very different things.
The Slayer was watching her very much like a predator. Glowing green eyes were focused on the small human- gods his thigh seemed bigger than her whole self-!
“...help?” The word slipped out of Elena before she even realized that she said something.
The large head tilted to one side, clearly hearing the whispered words. Then shifted as the rumble almost seemed to pick up. He was moving, sliding his left arm under the table, moving it to tilt as his shoulder slid under. The blade in his forearm was retracted, but the massive hand had Elena reflexively flinching away from the Slayer, even though she knew he was more… belevent, or neutral towards humans. And then the tilt of the table had what was on top sliding off to clatter and crash. Elena yelped and jerked away from the sound-
And into the large hand suddenly behind her.
Her neck slid between his fore and middle fingers before the massive hand closed around Elena’s whole upper chest. Arms pinned, she could suddenly smell the metallic scent of blood, realizing the black was… it was demonic blood that had been…burned? Death char clung to the Slayer as he pulled her out of her tentative safely and into the open.
The table rocked and crashed back down once he pulled the woman free and sat up, still kneeling and all but dwarfing the human. His other hand came up, catching her legs that weakly tried to kick in protest and chuckled.
He chuckled at Elena.
The giant was amused at her attempts to get free? At her fear? Was the Slayer not as belevent as she thought? The woman whimpered, unable to help it as she was, for the lack of a better term, examined. She was tilted and shifted, the other massive hand holding her knees together and-
And then the impossible grip loosened?
She was being moved, the grip on her legs released. There was a scramble from Elena as she was lifted and pressed to the Slayer's right shoulder. Once her feet were braced the giant's left hand then loosened and let her drop onto the shoulder. His head was tilted to watch her as his right arm came up, giving the human another spot to brace against.
He purred at her, once finding that Elena was holding onto his armor and collar ridge herself. Standing up with a slight hunch, grabbing the rifle-like weapon in his left hand. The big head tilted to watch as he checked the energy weapon over.
Elena made an interesting sound, confused but clinging tight to this only source of safety as she was carried not unlike a toddler. Once realizing what was around them as the Slayer walked, she pressed her head to the thick neck beside her, hiding from the torn remains of those that did not get to the evacuation ship.
There was a low sound that vibrated from the Slayer and through Elena. Like feeling the earth itself shifted and pulsed through her bones.
Reassurance. Protective.
The Slayer rumbled the Primordial words out, he had already cleared most all the demons and possessed. Taken and freed the trapped soles. He just had to get this human to the safety of his portal. It should open up by the mentioned backup servers. Things he needed to get anyways for Vega, and his Elite Guard should have that all secured by now
His steps were steady and long, in a ground eating pace as he left the hell created slaughter. Then his own slaughter of the demons. All the while giving a low rumble to reassure the only survivor he found.

Newt & Tina: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Eddie Redmayne: What was kind of wonderful about what J.K. Rowling's written is that the way in which they met, they're almost antagonists to begin with. It's definitely not love at first sight.
Katherine Waterston: There's something. I mean, he catches my eye right away and I'm instantly suspicious of him.
Eddie Redmayne: Suspicion. Attraction.
Katherine Waterston: It's a fine line. Yeah, so, I mean, obviously that's an indication of my amazing instincts as an Auror, but also I think you do it with attraction. You notice right away something about someone, but they are not aware of it, but it's nice that the audience gets to be able to watch it from that perspective, knowing that these people will...
- Entertainment Weekly
Katherine Waterston: It’s wonderful how, throughout the film, they reveal little bits of their past and certainly reveal a great deal of their character to each other. As things are when you first meet someone, you get a very general sense of who they are. My sense of who Newt is at the beginning is that he’s dangerous and untrustworthy, and kind of cute, too. Part of what I love about Tina is she's flawed and often doesn't achieve what she is pursuing or things don't work out for her [like] she hopes. But she is good at her job and the moment she sees Newt she knows something is going on, even though she doesn't exactly know what. And that, to me, was the first clue that she's not a total disaster.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Movie-Making News & The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Katherine Waterstob: One of my favourite messages of the film: that there's so much more to people than initially meets the eye. I think it's one of the great discoveries in the film, at least for Tina as she gets to know Newt. At the beginning, he's not very engaged; he's prickly; he really wishes she'd probably fuzz off. She thinks he's got an interest in a ridiculous subject, and one that's dangerous and a nuisance. But it's through getting to know him better that she comes to understand what these creatures really mean and what they can be. And through seeing his relationship with the creatures, she comes to see there's so much more to him than just the prickly, standoffish and disinterested outsider she meets at the beginning of the film.
- HMV
Eddie Redmayne: Certainly at the beginning of the film when he meets Katherine's character, there's a great antagonism between them, and they're both quite sort of knotty characters. We sort of know that ultimately those two in the Potter lore get together, and there's this sort of central build of these two people who are outsiders finding each other.
- Entertainment Weekly
Eddie Redmayne: One of the things I loved about this script when I first read it is, I think JK Rowling had always seen it as telling a larger story, but the film is it's own thing. Actually the relationships that you see arrive in the film, they stand together as one sort of whole piece. But What I love is that the relationship starts kind of...
Katherine Waterston: Combative.
Eddie Redmayne: Yeah, it's not love at first sight put it that way. Maybe there's a bit chemistry at first sight, but it's quite combative. But what was lovely was to play a slow build, to be able to play this kind of — these characters are thrown into a world, this quartet together. They're all outsiders in some ways, and yet they have really heroic qualities within them. So it's kind of lovely for us to not rush that and be able to play it slow.
Katherine Waterston: You know that eventually you know these two people end up together. So you can see and look for when they start to notice each other, you know what I mean? Because you're in on it in a way that I think is really fun. I feel like there's a lot in this movie of us kind of like, oh, that tragic stuff where you look at someone and they're not looking at you, and then you look away and then they look at you. So there's like all of that sort of stuff going on.
- Entertainment Weekly
Katherine Waterston: I think the biggest distinction is actually the way witches and wizards interact with the muggles, or as we call them "No-Majs" in America, because we're forbidden to engage with them at all. We were persecuted during the very real Salem Witch Trials and went into hiding. There's just a lot more secrecy aroud witchcraft in America. When Newt shows up, he's very casual about things we are very, very strict about.
Eddie Redmayne: I feel like Newt doesn't really care about rules that much anyway.
Katherine Waterston: No, he doesnt. It's quite shocking to me.
Eddie Redmayne: It really irks her.Katherine Waterston: It stresses me out a bit, but also I find him really charming and engaging. So you know...
- Entertainment Weekly Binge Dec 07 2016
Katherine Waterston: With Newt and his case, the main problem is that it's a lot easier for witches and wizards to hide from the No-Maj world than to hide magical creatures, especially ones that are on the loose in the community. So that's the number one threat. It would be disatrous. They plough things over, they break things, they could harm people. For most of the film, Tina is just imagining the worst-case scenario. In Amercian, as it's established in the film, we've been taught that magical creatures is a bad thing. We should not have them at all, not in America and certainly not on the loose. She's almost panicked to get them back. In her interaction with the beasts as the're tracked down and recovered, Tina galves a better appreciation for Newt. So when push comes to shove, she again abandons the rule book and helps someone in trouble.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Movie-Making News
David Yates: She had done something really bad. Like Newt, she is a wee bit of an outsider.'
- Inside the Magic: The Making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Katherine Waterston: Her relationship with Newt? I think if you're peculiar, it's nice to meet other peculiar people. Whether it's romantic or not, it's lonely when you feel like you're the only peculiar person out there. I think Newt and Tina are both kinda offbeat and have a lot of qualities that have often been attributed to geeks. I don't really think of them as geeks, just a little bit unusual.
- Yahoo UK
Katherine Waterson: There’s pieces of it that are very true to life, the cultural clash, we use different words, we have different ways of engaging, she’s an New Yorker, she’s kind of loud and aggressive.
Eddie Redmayne: He’s an introvert. He hates people.
Katherine Waterston: Yeah, and polite. Maybe not polite. There’s a different way of interacting that you certainly notice, Iike I notice goning from New York, as I'm from New York, to England to shoot the movie and sometimes there's a real...
Eddie Redmayn: Even in press, there are things. Sometimes I'll say a word and Katherine will be like, "What does that mean?" Or I'll say the other way around.Katherine Waterston: I'll have to translate it or the other way. Yeah, so, there was so much that I think that JK Rowling noticed about the differences and the cultures that she used in the story. But then at the same time, there are these beautiful parallels between Newt and Tina, and I think once they get to know each other better, they notice the similarities, and the connection there builds. But at the beginning, I think all they see is differences.
- Netease
Katherine Waterston: I think she felt more like a fish put of water in the first film, and I think maybe she and Newt recognised the similarity in one another. They both were in a situation where things weren't quite familiar or right for them.
- SFX Magazine
Katherine Waterston: Actually this is a point of connection between Newt and Tina is that they both had an aspect of their lives that really makes sense to them that in which they are highly functional, and then these other aspects of their lives are not so much. She also struggles with communication. She was orphaned as a child and had to take on a lot of responsibility at home, and as a result, didn't really socialise and develop like the average teenager might. So there are these aspects of her that are a bit stunted, but like all JK Rowling characters, utimately, whatever the guards are, whatever the barriers are, she has this huge heart.
- Kermodeandmayo
Katherine Waterston: What was great at the beginning, you see this slight clash of cultures. He's the outsider in New York. It's her town. She says things he doesn't understand, like No-Maj. He doesn't know what she's talking about. And they started off having this combative relationship. And I think they probably think that they are quite different from one another, but as they get to know each other, they see that there's a lot of points of connection that they had actually quite a lot in common, that they are both really passionate about their work, that they are both a little bit awkward in social interactions. That part of their lives has been sort of neglected and underdeveloped. And they both have a tenderness to them and big-heartedness to them that is quite covered by the way that they present themselves to the world. So it's fun to find the moment where they recognise each other.
- Tencent
Eddie Redmayne: They're both really passionate people. Newt is absolutely, he's sort of slightly awkward amongst sort of human beings and wizards, but with his creatures he's like hugely passionate, and similarly Tina is pretty formidable at what she does. She's fallen from fame at the beginning of the film, but she is deeply, deeply sort of obssessed with her work in a brilliant way.
Katherine Waterston: Yeah, actually in our world, we both kind of come alive, and in the rest of the world, we haven't quite figure out how to be complete people. Also what's so nice about that is that there's so much room for us, I think, as actors, for us to grow. I think these characters will, when push comes to shove, I'm imagining in the future films, be challenged to rise more to occasions and stuff and I think it'll be really fun to, you know, it's more interesting and exciting to see someone who doesn't know if they're gonna able to pull something off and attempted and than someone who's like, "That's right and no problem. I got this." There's no tension there. So I think there'll be lots of fun. Feats ahead.
- Entertainment Weekly
Katherine Waterston: She has good instincts. She knows she has a lot of potential, but can't seem to convince people of it. I think Newt sees that potential in her. That's a lot of what falling in love is, you feel someone else recognizing what you have to offer. As the relationship evolves, she sees what’s motivating him and why he is the way he is. They are both very passionate about what they do. They are both a little stunted, not very good at expressing themselves. And then you start to see the reason why they have become that way. He’s very isolated in his work. She’s become the parent to her sister, Queenie, because they lost their parents when they were young. So they’re these two people who really haven’t had much time to have a good time. In contrast to Jacob and Queenie who are much freer, and it’s in that contrast that you see how trapped they are. The moments where a little bit of who they really are gets to come out, it’s really exciting. And as the film goes on, that starts to happen more and more.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Movie-Making News & The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Katherine Waterston: I think what you see there are two characters who are confronted with their own social limitations. That the areas in their lives where they really thrive. If he’s with his animals, he’s confident and he knows just what to do. And although we don’t really see her thriving at work in this film, at work – that’s the place where the world makes sense to her. It’s what she’s poured all of her energy into in her life. In a sense, by mistake they’ve missed out on developing the parts of themselves that would allow them to just simply enjoy a dinner. I think in that moment they’re both confronted with their own inadequacies and their shyness, so they’re recognizing something similar in one another, but also totally too limited to do anything about the fact that they’re realizing that they’re similar. Then it’s almost made more embarrassing by the fact that the two people right next to them have no difficulty in this area. But, I think that the whole quartet tells a story of oddballs coming together and feel understood by one another. The same thing is happening for both couples in that moment. The ones that are having an easy time talking are finding that they have things in common and a connection, and the ones that are struggling are also finding a connection in that moment.
- Snitchseeker
Katherine Waterston: I think they really kind of are actually kindred spirits. They recognize a similarity in the other. He has an area of his life that makes sense to him when he's with his creatures, and that's the safe place in the world he understands. In the broader world, it's challenging in many ways. Human interactions are challenging. Tina, her work makes sense to her. That's the world in which she thrives, and beyond that interpersonal relationships are quite difficult. You see it when Queenie and Jacob are at the dinner table in the first one. I always thought that scene told so much about these two. Just with the little quick glances and stuff, they were observing a great deal about the trap they are both in a little bit in human interactions, while these other two are so freely engaging with each other, but that's a comfort for them, and I also think I really don't have to act. It's a wonderful gift. Tina loves his relationship to the creatures and I, Katherine, I think it's so beautiful to watch Eddie work with them in the way he does. I feel like that's something that's very easy to perform, but that I think makes her feel like, "This is a really, really special wizard."

Katherine Waterston: Part of what causes the wonderful connection to happen in the first film is that they recognise that similarity in each other. She also has a world that makes sense to her, and the greater world is a challenge and those personal relationships, she just doesn't... I think a little bit differently. She just maybe hasn't allowed herself that. There hasn't been time for that part in her life, because she's had a responsibility to care for her sister and focus on her work. But also that's the kind of thing people say when they're like justifying being single or something.
- Wizarding World
Katherine Waterston: When I first read the script, I really loved her journey that at the beginning she's really uneducated about fantastical beasts and maybe even a little bigoted and judgemental of what she doesn't fully understand and through the process of being exposed to them and seeing what they are through Eddie's eyes, she comes to a greater understanding and I loved that journey and that growth.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Interview
Katherine Waterston: And I love Tina because – and I think we can all relate to this. She’s very complicated. She has that aspect where you can feel incredibly confident in yourself, but also be filled with self-doubt and insecurity. She’s got all this hope for herself, but every time she tries to do something right, it goes wrong. So she’s wondering if she is as hopeless as other people perceive her to be. She’s living with that question when Eddie’s character comes along. He lets her try magic and it galvanises her. It can be lonely being an oddball until you find other oddballs. Their friendship is not a mere byproduct of the extreme set of circumstances they go through together; it is their common experience as outsiders that draws them to one another.
- Hot Press
Katherine Waterston: Tina is a very serious, hard-working, also awkward, damaged person. They share some traits. Both are very passionate about their work and thrive in that enviroment, but are little stunted developmentally in other ways. What I loved about Tina was that she loves her work. She's so proud of it and has a sense that she has great potential as a witch, as an Auror, but also at the same exact time, harbours a real anxiety and fear that she won't reach her potential, that she isn't good enough, and so I love that kind of internal struggle she has. It is when she too bonds together with these other three... It's kind of strength in numbers thing. They, especially Newt, I think, starts to encourage her to performe magic more than she's been doing recently because she's been demoted at work and she starts to kind of get her groove back because of that support.
- Filmsnow Movie Bloopers & Extras
Katherine Waterston: It just occurred to me now that both Newt and Tina are kind of rebels. He got kicked of Hogwarts at the beginning of the film. She is been demoted at work, so she's like a career gal without a career when you first meet her and is sort of struggling between both, feeling courageous, outgoing and confident and also vulnerable and insecure, so she's a bit of jumble. It is through joining together with, well, particulary Newt, but with the main four, or the other three I should say, that she kind of gets her groove back.
- MoviemaniacsDE
Katherine Waterston: Yeah, I mean it's one of the lovely things that I think Newt and Tina have in common is that both are really passionate about their work and their interests. It's where they kind of come alive. So for her, to have the place where she's most comfortable taken from her is very uncomfortable for her. So she wants to be a great Auror, but she also really wants to get back in the swing of things, because that's where she feels the best. She's really striving to kind of undo the damage she's done, but she has so much heart, and sometimes there are situations that compelled her to maybe bend or break the rules, even though all she wants is to get back in good graces at work. So she's kind of got this internal struggle going on there. But what's also amazing in the couse of the film is that because... I think that Newt sees her potential and kind of encourages her to get back into doing some pretty badass witchcraft.
- Entertainment Weekly Binge Dec 07 2016
Eddie Redmayne: With Katherine's character, it is sort of a slow-build connection. these two people, who are outsiders yet passionate people, begins to glimpse things in one another.
- Inside the Magic: The Making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Eddie Redmayne: It was one of the things that I loved – the idiosyncrasies within these characters, as you say. Tina was someone that presents as incredibly strong, and yet she has the fragility as well. And similarly, Newt has a seeming awkwardness and shyness, and a complete incapacity to relate to other people. One gets a sense that that stems from some sort of damage. It's also because he is someone who has grown up with these creatures, so he has great empathy for them. And he's his own person. J.K. Rowling writes about these characters who all appear to be misunderstood or outsiders in some way, but when they find each other, they bring qualities out in each other. Both Newt and Tina have a certain pre-judgmental notion, and yet when they really look and listen, I feel that they see each other.
- HMV
Eddie Redmayne: He does have a vulnerability but it's not like he's striving for a connection with humans. At the beginning of the film, he's very happy in himself. He's seemingly completely content in his skin, but it's only when he realises that he can have a connection, that he sort of begins to fall for Tina. He connects with Tina and it's very slow burn but it's been wonderful to play. They start as antagonists, finding each other deeply frustrating, but by the end there's a kind of sense of something.
- Yahoo UK
Katherine Waterston: I don’t think it’s too theatrical a notion that Newt and Tina could bond so quickly, because a lot happens. When you’re thrown together with someone in a high-stakes environment, you tend to feel quite close to them even after a little bit of time. Sometimes you know someone for three days and it’s amazing and you think, “Hey I actually know you. You don’t, ladies! You don’t know them yet, but you can feel like you do.
- Wizarding World
Katherine Waterston: As Tina gets to know Newt, she sees more of him when she sees him interact with the animals because at first she does see him as uncomfortabe and guarded, but she's not seeing him interacting with the creatures, and I think it's part of where the love story begins at least for her is when she sees him the side that he kind of hides from other humans and it's very moving to her.
- Adorocinema
Katherine Waterston: She really has a journey there to understand so much that she's never explored before. She took her job very seriously and she has great pride in being a part of MACUSA, but there's also a bigger world out there. There might be something a little bit narrow-minded about her—her perspective in the beginning of the film. This is why diversity is a good thing and understanding other cultures is an important thing. As she gets to know Eddie's character, she also comes to understand there's lots of different kinds of points of view about things that she had sort of been a little bit more rigid about... rigid-minded about before.
- KUTV
Katherine Waterston: My character in the beginning of the film, has been raised and taught to fear the other in the case of the fantastic beasts. And through education and through understanding and being exposed to it…Eddie Redmayne: And empathy.Katherine Waterston: Yeah, and being presented with a different perspective on it, she comes to understand that there's no reason for her to fear what she's been taught to fear. So those messages have a solution in them, too, which I think is fucking useful.
- Mugglenet
Katherine Waterston: In another interview I was talking about Tina's journey: she has a fear of the other, she's been educated to fear these magical creatures, and through exposure to them and exposure to a person who has a different perspective on them, her perspective changes. There's hope for growth so long as we open ourselves up to it.
- Leaky Cauldron
Eddie Redmayne: At the beginning, I think Newt has sort of no interest in Jacob. He's just about getting the creatures back. But there's one moment early on when Newt takes him down into the case and Newt doesn't take many people down, if anyone down to the case and he shows Jacob the Occamy, the little and he watches the way. Because these creatures are hated by the wizarding world. Everyone hates these creatures. He watches the way that Jacob looks at this creature and he suddenly sees someone who sees what he sees. And I think that's the first moment that Newt kind of falls a bit for Jacob and I love that progression. And similarly with Tina, when she comes down later and begins to understand these creatures for what they are and I think he can put his defense down a bit.
- Star
David Yates: There's another scene where Alison and Katherine, in the case, sing the Ilvermorny song, the school song. I asked Alison would she write it, and she wrote this beautiful Ilvermorny school song. And they sing it together and the two boys, Jacob and Newt, they sit there and they watch. And as the girls perform this song, this ode to Ilvermorny, they slowly fall in love.
- Slashfilm
Eddie Redmayne: In order to surprise him, Newt has to appear entirely relaxed and unpredictable, but the Demiguise knows him; he already has a sense of what he’s going to do. So Newt encourages Tina to just be casual. That it’s going to be up to her to catch the Demiguise, because he knows less about her. I think that not only is Newt trying to find the Demiguise, but subconsciously he’s beginning to enjoy the proximity with Tina.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Movie-Making News
Katherine Waterston: Perhaps my favorite day on set was a scene with Tina and Newt on a dock. We were on location in an enormous hanger originally used to build zeppelins. It’s the biggest single storey building I’ve ever seen in my life, and had this incredible energy to it. We only shot a few takes of that scene, but that was one of my best memories. It was just one of those days that felt electric.
- Female First
Katherine Waterston: I loved the scene between us at the end of the movie. Because we’ve been doing all these action and stunts and working with the magical creatures, and this was just a very simple scene, two actors just communicating together, and we shot it with two cameras as well. So it was like sometimes you shoot one side and then the other, but we were really in the moment together. So what you see in the movie isn’t cut together between like many hours of shooting. It’s kind of more in real time. That felt magical.
- Tencent
Eddie Redmayne: What do I enjoy most about the work? It's the tiny moments when things feel real and they happen very, very rarely. You're very lucky if it you have one in an entire job and it happened for me on this job when, in the last scene between Tina and Newt, when they're leaving to go away, she wishes him and says, "Good luck on the book." And then she says the title of the book, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.' Newt can't believe that someone's seen him, and in that moment, whenever Katherine said that, I got goosebumps. I was like got the tingles, "Wow!" Like being seen. And It's a weird moment. You can't really quite describe it and that's why you never talk about it in acting, but it's like something feels true for a minute or a second, and you don't feel like you're putting it on. It's just a natural reaction that happens to you.
- Snitchseeker
David Yates: In the course of the story Tina and Newt have this unrequited, quite tender, quite funny journey together.
- Inside the Magic: The Making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Katherine Waterston: I suppose in the beginning of the first film, she's a survivor and she sort of developed a kind of hardness in order to get by in the world and I think when she encounters Newt, it does soften her in a way.
- Cinemark Argentina
Eddie Redmayne: One of the things I love about Newt is that he's completely his own person. He's learned to be content with that - or he thinks he's content with it. In the last movie, he connected with the [principal] trio, and particularly with Tina, who saw elements in him which other people had never seen. Probably one of the only other people in his life who had seen that was Dumbledore.
- SFX Magazine
Eddie Redmayne: In the last movie, getting to meet Queenie and Jacob, and particularly Tina, like his heart has been opened. So his world has always been his creatures and his case, and through meeting Tina, his heart's kind of exploded, and so I would say he is out for being much more open
- iQIYI
Eddie Redmayne: What is it that he doesn't like about Tina? I think Tina is an extraordinary character. She is formidable, she is vulnerable, she is incredibly caring, she sort of looked after her sister in this extraordinary way despite a tricky upbringing. Even though she's created in the first film this sort of exoskeleton through damage, he can see into her and I think it's just a magnetic connection between them.

A Million Little Heartaches
Part 1: Pandora’s Box
March 2026
I’ve curled my legs up under me in an oversized armchair, staring aimlessly at the fire. My empty wine glass is precariously balanced in my hand as I am hypnotized by the flames. Liam’s angry outburst shocked everyone, and his words still ring like poison in my ears:
You abandoned me.
I run through all the things I could’ve said in response instead of just standing there speechless as he ripped me into pieces in front of everybody.
Namely, you made your choice, Liam. And it wasn’t me.
It was never me.
Good ole Lily, forever the consolation prize, I muse, shaking my head.
There’s a hollow feeling in my heart that hasn’t been there for a long, long time.
“Mind if I join you?” Jake’s rumbling voice startles me out of my staring contest with the fire.
Oh god, now? Seriously? is what I’m thinking, but I manage a cordial nod instead, setting my empty glass on the side table next to me.
He sits in the chair facing mine. A glance over reminds me he’s a man now, not a boy, the firelight hitting the weathered but not unattractive lines on what used to be a baby face. The peach fuzz which had tickled my cheek so long ago is now a short, dark beard on a sharper, less rounded jaw. His once sandy hair has darkened some and is peppered with grey. He has aged well.
I can’t imagine how he must be looking at me after all these years, at the changes he must see. I know I’m not the girl I was. I look back at the fire.
“Are you okay?” he asks after a moment of silence.
I roll my eyes over to him and huff a bitter laugh. “Does it matter?”
I shouldn’t have said it like that—Liam’s freak out wasn’t Jake’s fault—but everything feels so fucking raw that I don’t have the wherewithal for a filter.
“It always has,” he says quietly.
The words hang there between us, heavy. There’s a poignancy and deeper meaning to them that slaps me out of my pity party.
“Excuse me?” I breathe out, blinking. My heart starts racing, like a hummingbird trapped in my ribcage.
He doesn’t get to say my feelings have always mattered. Not him. Not the guy who dragged me to hell and back because he was too much of a coward to let me down easy. Not the one who I spent nearly six years trying desperately to know and wishing for him to know me, too. Who I tried, only somewhat successfully, to forge a friendship with after it seemed all between us was well and truly done.
Jake shifts uncomfortably in his seat, looking at the fire before he finds what he needs there to bring himself to look back at me.
He only knows a fraction of what he put me through, or at least I think he does. He was ever the master at shutting me out, so it’s always been hard to know what he’s thinking or feeling without having to pry it out of him with a crowbar.
His voice echoes in my head, a long-forgotten memory: I guess I’m just the kind of person who hides my feelings.
An understatement.
This makes it a surprise when he looks straight at me with those warm brown eyes that used to melt me into the floor and says, “Your feelings have always mattered.”
Maybe it’s the wine, or the blowup with Liam, but my filter disappears completely. There’s a latent, hot anger that boils to the surface.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. You, of all people, think my feelings have always mattered?” I throw back at him, scoffing.
He looks as though I’ve slapped him, and if I wasn’t so upset, I might try to backtrack. But I spent six years of my adolescence trying to shield him from my feelings, and as an adult, I don’t have time for that shit anymore.
“I suppose I deserve that,” he recovers, looking back at the fire.
I’m surprised, to say the least. It’s not as though we hadn’t talked about it back in the day, at least somewhat, but I never let him know just how deeply he hurt me. I never told him about the panic attacks, the intense depressions, or the manic feelings I’d get from just a morsel of attention from him. No, I’d buried all that for the sake of our “friendship” or whatever it was.
Part of me knows it’s stupid to try and rehash things that we put to rest so long ago. I shouldn’t hold it against him—we were just teenagers—but it wasn’t until my twenties that I finally grasped just how much Jake fucked me up. He made me think that if you love someone enough, they can treat you however they want and it doesn’t matter, and if it’s “meant to be” then someone can string you along indefinitely without consequence. I’d been so convinced we were these star-crossed lovers that had such a deep thread of connection that we’d someday figure it out. But someday never came.
Liam had. Liam pulled me from the ashes of my heartbreak and showed me real love. Or so I’d hoped. I’d hoped so much that I’d ignored and excused all the similarities between the way he and Jake treated me. But he had loved me and risked it all for me at one time. I mattered to him, to a fault.
But with Jake, I’m never sure I mattered. I always felt on thin ice, or at least that’s how I remember it. But memory warps over time. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I’ve been wrong about all of it.
God, he still has me running circles around myself.
“Yeah, you do deserve it, a little,” is what I finally settle on, but it comes out gentler than I want it to.
He gives me a familiar sardonic half-smile.
Ah, there he is, the little shit. It was a look that twenty years ago would set my heart a-flutter on a good day and made me want to throttle him on a bad one. Some things never change.
Another thing that hasn’t changed is my need to shove him past his comfort zone with all my thoughts and feelings.
“Sometimes, I’m still not sure I mattered to you at all.” The words catch in my throat, giving away more than I want to.
His eyes snap back to mine. “How can you say that?” he asks with a surprising level of hurt in his voice.
I’m taken aback. “Jake, I don’t think you entirely understand the way you…” I stop myself and shake my head.
“The way I what? Say it,” he challenges, uncharacteristically.
I take a deep breath. “The way you broke my heart completely. How I spent months—no, years—trying to figure out what I had done that was so bad that you didn’t have or couldn’t really admit you had feelings for me, or why I was so repulsive you couldn’t bear to be with me. You had me so tied in knots I could hardly breathe.”
“Lily, you were never—” he starts, shaking his head, but I don’t listen, plowing right through whatever he thinks he needs to say.
“And then Liam came into the picture and helped me heal, and still I was so desperate for your approval, for us to be friends. But you always, always kept me at arm’s length. I could never figure any of it out. I still wonder if it was all one-sided and I was just a crazy little girl who manufactured this epic love story in her head,” I ramble out, shaking my head.
I’m saying too much, I know I am, but what the fuck does it matter now, after all this time? I have no need to impress him anymore.
He shutters down, and it’s so entirely familiar that I have to laugh. “That. Right there,” I point, “is the same thing you did to me 27 years ago. You could never let me in, could you? As much as I hoped you would, as close as I swear I got sometimes, this brick wall is what made me question everything about us. It always has.”
His eyes widen as he’s called out so viciously, his hands tensing then releasing the arms on the chair. I let him sit in it for a moment before I drop the last bombshell, the one I’m sure will ruin the precarious balance between us:
“You were my first love, Jake, and I was so in love with you it hurt. God, I was so convinced we were connected in some timeless, deep, soulmates kind of way. And sometimes you did things that seemed to confirm that, but then you’d turn around and…well, I tried so hard to understand why you didn’t feel it, too. But I was young and stupid and obsessed, I guess,” I laugh, looking into the fire. “I finally just had to accept I was never gonna figure you out or understand why you didn’t love me back.”
He’s quiet for a long moment and I’m almost afraid he’s going to get up and walk away.
“Sorry, I guess old habits die hard. Here I am, still blasting you with all my feelings, 25-plus-years later,” I chuckle. “No wonder you never wanted to be with m—”
“You’ve got it all wrong,” he interrupts.
My head snaps back to him. “What?”
“I never meant to hurt you like that. I never meant to drive you to…Liam,” he says, with a frustrated bitterness in his tone that surprises me.
“Okay…?” I’m not sure where this is going, but my heart kicks up again.
“I told you back then I liked you,” he says blatantly, as if it were ever that simple between us.
I can’t help but laugh. “Did you, really? You told me in different ways how you were ‘gonna ask me out, but…’. And there was always a ‘but.’ And it was never in the present tense. I heard from other people that you liked me, sure, but you never really told me. Not in a way that felt like I wasn’t forcing something out of you that you were ashamed of or just telling me to save face. And it was always me who came to you. Always. You had a thousand chances and never followed through. We never even kissed, Jake! You kissed everyone but me. What was I supposed to think?”
“I-I-I…damn it, Lily,” he growls. “I couldn’t.”
“Excuse me? You very much ‘could,’ you just didn’t want to. And that’s fine, you never owed it to me to reciprocate my feelings. Just don’t pretend—”
“Of course, I had feelings for you!” he yells.
I’m stunned into silence.
“I had feelings for you since we were 12! You were the first girl I ever really thought of in that way and I had no idea how to deal with it. And the moment you showed any interest in me I panicked and pushed you away. And I regretted it after and thought I’d ruined everything, but you came back, and I-I-I did it again. And again. Because my feelings for you scared the shit out of me.”
My heart is jackhammering now. I can barely breathe. “Why?”
“You were special. I couldn’t—I couldn’t ruin that…or you.”
“That doesn’t make any sense! You didn’t want to ‘ruin me’ so you broke my heart, over and over?”
“I didn’t deserve you. You were way too good for me and way out of my league.”
Flabbergasted, I blink at him. The pure insanity of this conversation has me whirling.
“But you kept flirting with me anyway, leading me on? You’d hug me, hold my hand…Lord, you even snuggled me and popped a fucking boner against me at that party freshman year…” I babble.
A blush floods his cheeks. “I was only 15, I-I-I didn’t know what I was doing.”
“You knew enough to fuck Talia.”
He looks like I’ve struck him again, but I can see in his eyes he knows I’m right. Talia would forever be a sore spot between us.
“I was young. And dumb.”
“No shit. And it doesn’t track. You did the same with Tina, Heather, and pretty much any other girl who showed the slightest bit of interest in you. Everyone except me.”
“I know. I was wrong. I was in a…bad place.”
“I practically handed myself to you on a platter and you humiliated me. How do you think it felt that I was the only one you never…you just kept me dangling on a string,” I say, shaking with anger.
“I know,” he whispers, “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t…”
“Sure,” I shake my head and look away. I don’t know why I care so much. I shouldn’t. This is all ancient history, and maybe it is Liam’s doing for sucking me back into the past tonight, but for some reason it all feels like it happened yesterday.
“I knew it was wrong, that I was treating you badly, a-a-and that’s why I found God. I wanted to be better…for you.”
Something cracks inside of me at the gesture. It doesn’t make any sense—why would he do that for me? My breath starts to falter a bit.
I remember he had changed dramatically mid-sophomore year, turning into a nicer, happier, and kinder version of himself. He’d stopped going after every girl in sight and wasn’t blatantly ignoring me anymore. We’d become friends again. I’d thought he was swept up in wanting to hang with the cooler, older Christian kids in the group, bowing to a weird form of peer pressure, just as I had done.
Of course, my “conversion” had not stuck after everything that happened later, but that’s beside the point.
Slowly, pieces start falling into place. Things I’d never considered.
“You didn’t. You did it for…me?” I say breathlessly. “That’s a pretty drastic thing for a 16-year-old to do…”
He nods.
A shiver runs down my spine.
“Why…why would you do something like that for me?” I hold my breath and quell the trembling of my hands by clasping them together.
In the heavy pause, it feels like all the air gets sucked out of the room, and everything else around us warps and stops.
“Because I was completely in love with you.”
My heart stops. “What?” I whisper.
This can’t be real.
But his eyes are as open and pleading as I’ve ever seen them, begging me to finally understand what he couldn’t impart all those years ago.
“Then why didn’t you tell me?” I manage to choke out.
A pained look crosses his face. “I was too late.”
It’s like I’m 16 again, the way my heart is ready to explode while simultaneously being yanked from my chest. The air whooshes out of my lungs and I can’t bring myself to speak. All I can do is look over at him with questioning eyes.
“Me being such an asshole pushed you straight into his arms and by the time I came to my senses, it was too late. You’d fallen for him, even though he was with someone else,” he says bitterly.
He is not wrong. The whole reason Liam and I became friends in the first place was he listened to my heartbreak over Jake.
“So, I tried to be your friend instead. That was what you wanted, right? I thought maybe I could get closer to you and change your mind, talk some sense into you.”
I find my voice. “What are you even talking about? Liam and I were very much not together that spring and summer because of Melissa. You had the perfect chance, but you started dating Tiffany right when school got out.”
His jaw sets, clenches. “Oh, come on. It was beyond obvious you weren’t over him. So, yeah, when Tiffany showed interest, I gave it a chance. But I couldn’t stop thinking about you. You probably don’t remember how I messaged you all the time. How our conversations got longer a-a-and deeper. How I begged you to call me.”
Vague memories flash back to me. “I did call you. And I definitely would’ve remembered you telling me this!” I shake my head.
He has no idea how this revelation would have changed everything. God, I can’t breathe.
“I tried to feel you out that fall, but you were pretty focused on Liam.”
Mind racing, I try to remember how it all went down. My attraction to Liam had been all-consuming, made worse by the way we desperately tried to keep our hands off each other when Melissa left for college. We weren’t officially together, but it was obvious to anyone with eyes that we were mad about each other. Between that, the play, and keeping my grades up, things were intense that fall, to say the least. But there had been some weird moments with Jake that I’d tried to brush off as friendly at the time, but maybe they weren’t.
“Friendsgiving.” It pops into my head suddenly, and I look at him with wide eyes. “I couldn’t figure it out—you went out of your way to take me home that night, then you were so teasing and flirty. We sat in my driveway for like half an hour. You couldn’t keep your hands off me—tickling me and putting your arm around me. I thought it was strange…but you were with Tiffany. I convinced myself I was imagining it.”
It starts to dawn on me that perhaps my instincts had been right this whole damn time.
I ramble as I recall more, “You were so obsessed about Mick having to kiss me for the play. We talked about how weird it would be if you had to understudy and it was us who had to kiss instead.”
Jake looks at me sheepishly. “I wanted to kiss you so badly.”
            “God, why didn’t you?!”
“You were in love with Liam!”
“You are still such an idiot. Did you not hear anything I’ve said to you? If you’d kissed me, it wouldn’t have mattered. You were always there in the back of my mind. It was always you.” My hands are trembling at the admission, at how easily I would’ve folded if he had come for me.
His eyes narrow, almost incredulously, as if he can’t believe it.
“That’s all I ever wanted, Jake—for you to care enough to show me, or tell me, or anything at all! To fight for me…for us. But you never had the balls to do it, and that’s why we never happened. Not because of Liam. Not because I didn’t feel the same way. Because of you,” I say, voice shaking as hard as my hands.
I’m coming apart at the seams, unravelling for the second time tonight because of men who never truly understood me or put me first. Refusing to cry in front of Jake and let him know just how much he’d changed with his inaction, I stand too quickly, wobbling on my feet.
Jake jumps up to steady me, one hand at my forearm and the other at my waist, touching me for the first time in over 20 years. My stupid body responds with a jolt of electricity now just as it did then, like a phantom limb come to life. Logic tells me to pull away.
I don’t.
He steps closer. “I’m sorry,” he whispers into my hair, “I feel like all I’ve ever done is hurt you, and I hate myself for it.”
Oh, god. His proximity is dizzying, a reminder of moments long gone. A whiff of cologne. The way his thumb gently rubs the dip of my waist through my dress. The not-so-subtle way he lures me in closer.
I don’t understand. How is it after the decades of life that have occurred, after having my heart swell and break and swell again with different types of love, that this man still can send me reeling?
And he’s right—all he’s ever done is hurt me and tie me in knots. Being near him is like being edged in the most painful of ways because there is never any payoff. He had seen to that.
There is something inherently cruel in the fate of it all. How the moment I had moved on all those years ago, the moment I released my hope of being with him and found another, that was when he figured his shit out. The worst part used to be feeling like he’d never felt the same about me, but knowing now that he loved me somehow makes everything ache even worse than it did before.
Tears sting the corners of my eyes, even though I promised myself long ago I’d never shed another tear over Jake. I hate he will forever be the one that got away. The one who I’d never felt closure with, like a scab that crusts over but won’t heal underneath. As stupid as it sounds, there has been a part of me since the moment he so sweetly helped me solve a math problem in the 7th grade that has unwillingly left a piece of my heart in his hands ever since, no matter how many others there have been to take his place in between.
And I hate him for that. I hate him even more now that I know I was always right about us from the start, about the thread of connection that bound us to each other almost 30 years ago.
“Does it even bother you? The ‘what could have been?’ Did it cross your mind that maybe everything would be different if you’d just said something? Or did you just forget about me, about all of it?” I whisper angrily.
God knows, I haven’t.
Furious and frazzled, I press my hands into his chest to push away. It’s a terrible move because his large hand covers mine, pinning it to him. He’s warm through his dress shirt and his heart beats wildly under my palm. My eyes fly up to meet his.
“I think about it all the time. More than I should. But God works in mysterious ways,” he says, as if that explains it all.
I roll my eyes. Another wonderful excuse. “I guess he does,” I add sarcastically.  Extricating myself from him, I immediately feel clearer, but part of me wants nothing more to feel his touch on me again. I shake the feeling off.
I had abandoned religion and the guilt and bigotry that came along with it the moment I got to college, when I realized just how much it had fucked my young brain up. Not shockingly, the religious friends who’d taken such offense when I’d gotten together with Liam were the same ones who quickly fell out of my life once they realized I wasn’t going to tow the line. Jake had only dug his heels in deeper into his religion after that, with Tiffany and his cookie-cutter perfect family and church going ways, and now it crosses my mind that it’s all because of me.
Don’t be stupid.
He’s waiting on me to say something. It takes me a moment to absorb the fact that he admitted thinking about me more than he should. This good and pious Christian man was thinking about me when he should have been thinking about his wife.
But I am in no place to judge. Not about this.
I want to know what salacious thoughts have run through his mind about me, but I can’t bring myself to ask. Part of me wants to utterly ruin him in all the ways I couldn’t when we were teenagers. A heat gathers low in my belly at the thought, at his nearness.
Romantic and physical chemistry is no joke, I realize. It’s like my pheromones were preprogrammed by the universe to be attracted to his, and by the cautiously heated look he’s giving me now, I’m wondering if it’s always been the same for him.
One of my biggest regrets about us, since the beginning, was the question that if we had even just kissed once and got it over with, would it have broken the tension between us like a summer rainstorm breaks the heat? Would we have gotten it out of our system and figured out if whatever chemistry we had was real or just something we’d worked up in our imaginations?
But it’s too late for that. The past can’t be changed. Now the ‘what if’s’ that plagued me for all these years hurt worse than before, knowing that with one stupid admission or one kiss all those years ago, we could have had it all. Maybe we would have been the high school sweethearts who got married and annoy our 2.5 kids with stories about what an idiot their dad was until he’d finally told me how he felt.
There would’ve been no me-and-Liam, or him leaving me because the world had gone to shit. I wouldn’t have met my husband. All of it, an entire life I’ll never know, flashes before my eyes and nearly brings me to my knees.
And while I don’t subscribe to his God, I do think the universe puts things in our path. But what was the point of all this, then—of us never being the “us” we both know we wanted it to be? I just don’t see why this thing can’t seem to die and fade into the ether. He’s like a bad penny I can’t shake.
At least with Liam, there was closure. We had loved and dated and all of the milestones that go with that. Knowing Jake loved me doesn’t make me truly feel any better, other than the fact I know I wasn’t a delusional, lovesick teenager.
But he loved a version of me that’s grown up into someone different, just as I begrudgingly loved a version of him that I’d made up in my head to be better than he was.
I’ve been quiet too long. “Why?” It pops out of my mouth unwillingly. “Why do you still think of me?”
“Do you still think of me?” I expect him to shirk away from the question, but he flips it on me so fast I have whiplash.
I close my mouth, my eyes darting away, answering his question.
He nods. “Then you know.”
Does that mean he replays fuzzy memories of interlocking his fingers with mine or pulling me too close in a dance? He sees the stolen, meaningful glances in his mind’s eye? He thinks about the multitude of chances he had to press his lips to mine but didn’t and what may have happened if it had gone farther than that? He thinks of how if he and I became a “we” it would’ve completely altered the course of our lives?
I have trouble thinking he ponders any of that.
But if he loved me like he says he did…
The hollow ache in my heart is back with a vengeance, erasing all hope I had at getting out of here relatively unscathed.
“Maybe we were just destined to hurt each other. Maybe we’ve always been bad for each other,” I say indignantly instead of voicing all the other thoughts buzzing in my head. But it feels true, nonetheless.
I watch him shake his head rather vehemently. He opens his mouth to speak, but I beat him to the punch.
“But too bad we never had the chance to find out for sure,” I add with venom. After this, I don’t think I’ll ever stop feeling like he stole that chance from me.
We were babies. Give the guy a break, a tiny voice in the back of my head chimes in.
Unfortunately, I’m a little too emotionally wrecked to let a silly thing like logic get me back on track and remind me I’m a goddamned adult.
Star-crossed lovers aren’t real. “Meant to be” isn’t real. Threads of fate tying us together in inexplicable ways aren’t real. What’s real is hormones and youth and cowardice and terrible timing. What’s real are jobs and spouses and children.
Then why can’t I shake the feeling that this isn’t even close to being the end for us? It makes no sense.
            It never has.
I grab my purse. Furious and regretful, I can’t be around him anymore, which is made evident by the fact that I want to stay so badly, even if it means my heart is bleeding out in front of him. But I have more self-respect now than I had when I was 16, and I certainly am not going to cry in front of him.
“Goodbye Jake. I hope your life is everything you want it to be. Give Tiffany my best.” It’s a dig, to be sure. We both know Tiffany wants nothing to do with me, and now I finally know why. I turn and walk away, quickly, escaping my past down the darkened hallway towards the bathrooms.
“Lily, wait,” he commands from behind me, catching up and grabbing my hand. Shocked at his tone of voice and forwardness, I have no choice to spin back to him. His eyes are blazing.
“What? What is there left to say?” I say, my voice cracking with emotion. “That one of my biggest regrets is that we never made this work, this—this silly pseudo-romance from our teens? That I hate how much this matters to me, even now, even though I haven’t seen you in years?”
He advances, his eyes never leaving mine, and a small huff escapes my lips as my back hits the wall. It’s hard not to notice he’s broader and taller than he used to be as his body comes so close to pressing against mine. Every one of my nerves sparks to attention at his sudden proximity, a buzzing static electricity.
His hand clasps my neck, the rough pad of his thumb trailing along my jaw. I have no choice but to keep looking up at him, into those darkened brown eyes.
“What are you doing?” I whisper.
Shock precedes a pool of fire low in my belly when he boldly brings his thumb to the center of my lips and slowly drags it down. My lips part and a small moan escapes them. I’m vaguely aware of my purse hitting the floor with a thunk.
“What I should’ve done a long time ago,” he says definitively. His warm breath tickles my cheek where his mouth hovers too close to mine.
As my body fully kicks into overdrive, I’m reminded of what I’ve always known: I’m incapable of resisting Jake Lawson. One last rational thought pushes through the fire that is rapidly consuming me.
“This is a bad idea,” I pant, my eyes scanning his face.
“A terrible one,” he agrees, and when he nods, his nose brushes against mine.
I expect a crash of lips and teeth, but instead his soft lips brush mine tantalizingly, dragging in a way that sends an explosion of heat through my chest. The warmth of our breath mingles, and I can’t stop the way my hands instinctively reach for the lapels of his jacket. His hand on my neck pulls me closer and when our lips finally press together in earnest, oh, god, it’s everything I’d ever hoped it would be.
Instead of breaking away, we are pulled into each other by some unknown force that makes my entire body tingle from head to toe. Jake deepens the kiss, and I turn as pliable as putty in his arms, wondering how it is possible that we went this damn long without doing this. His fingers tighten in my hair, eliciting a groan as his mouth opens and his tongue persuasively brushes against my lips. Granting permission, I open to him further and our tongues roll gingerly against each other.
Something ignites in me that hasn’t in a long, long time. It’s a blast of desire and truth so strong it threatens to undo me. It’s different than pure passion—there’s a yearning, a need, a rightness lacing every touch between us. And based on the way he clings to me now, I have no doubt he feels it, too, this sense of fate that we were always destined to end up here.
Every instinct I have wants to feed the fire that is swirling in my belly, but the last thread of rationality left in me reminds me that I shouldn’t let this go too far. It has gone too far already. I force myself to pull away, which is like prying two strong magnets off each other. I can’t move more than an inch, just enough to separate our lips. I’m too dizzy with the smell of him and what must be a lack of oxygen. Or maybe it’s because my entire world feels upended.
His forehead rests on mine, his thumb caressing the hollow of my throat. “Shit,” he sighs out with a shudder, his breath tickling my face as he struggles to control himself.
For once in my life, I have no doubt of what he’s feeling. The way he says that one word tells me he is every bit as blindsided, connected, and aroused as I am. But it’s more than just that. A tether of knowing has tightened between us. It’s so overwhelming I feel like I might cry.
As we stand pressed close together in this dark hallway, I don’t think either of us truly expected it to feel like this. Like everything that’s been wrong between us was because we resisted this bond, a power that feels beyond anything I could have imagined. In mere moments, we’ve confirmed what both of us have inherently known but tried to ignore for almost three decades.
That’s when I realize we’ve opened Pandora’s box. We can never go back.
“Jake…” I choke, trying to get the words out, but they won’t come.
“I know,” he responds solemnly, and I have no doubt he has come to the same conclusion as I have:
We are in deep trouble.

I just finished Nebuchadnezzar's Dream and I have to say: Holy shit! The werewolf fight, Carlisle getting investigated by the FBI, Aro's funny hat idea as a diplomatic tool, the Ziggy Stardisciples feat. bad face paint, Renata ❤️, the bickering twins, Jane (yes, she gets her own point, she deserves it), Carlisle's gift induced despair and then the fall of Volterra, the horror and grief of the group and the very loud broadcasted-live-to-the-usurpers revenge sex (I hope Edward combusted into a pile of ashes right then and there, lol). It was an amazing rollercoaster to read. And just so you know, I'm very interested in that potential sequel 👀
(Also, if Aro had decided to follow Caius' advice and attack the Cullens first, how would he have done it? Kill them all but spare Carlisle? Kill only Bella and leave it at that knowing that they don't pose a threat anymore even if they do decide to take revenge? Or something entirely different?)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
To answer your question:
If Aro was to take out the Cullens, there are about a million ways he could have gone about killing the Cullens but the simplest one in my mind would have been if he used Nahuel and his sisters to hide from Alice, and then went and killed them outright. No fuzz, no convoluted schemes, even with Bella's gift the Cullens would be easily overwhelmed.
A more thought out plan, at least if Aro wants to be sure Alice doesn't catch on to him, would be sending Chelsea and Marcus around to weaken the bonds of friendship the Cullens have with their various allies, and strengthen their faith in the Volturi. And if some remain adamant, they die. Leave the Denali alive, however, and then make his move.
The factor that allowed the Cullens to gather as many allies as they did in Breaking Dawn was time. The Volturi deliberated two weeks, when a direct flight from Italy to Washington would take less than a day. Should Aro in my scenario then decide "Alright, we're doing this," the Cullens will have very little time and be at a complete disadvantage.
Their only option would be to run for it and not split up, so Bella can shield them all, but even so they'll be leaving scent trails, which means they would have to go by human transportation means. This in turn puts a constraint on their movements.
The Cullens would likely end up on a boat or an island, where nobody can track them, where they would be unable to step outside of Bella's immediate vicinity, meaning Jacob and Renesmee are both obscuring Alice.
This is where the Denali come in, because without them the Volturi would have no way of guessing where the Cullens might go. With five friendly vampires a short distance away, however, the Cullens have an obvious destination.
Where, of course, Jacob and Renesmee's constant presence means that Alice won't know the Volturi are waiting for them there.
Even if the Cullens figure out that the Denali are compromised, they have no allies and Bella needs only let down her guard for a moment for Demetri to know where they are, and given the pressure she's under she inevitably will. They won't have an easy time hunting, either, the stress of the situation will be constantly grating on them, they won't hold out for long.
As for what the Volturi do when they have them at their mercy, Aro would be sad about it but they all have to go. Regardless of the strategy he used, he wants to reinforce that the Volturi are a force you don't stand up to, you don't resist, and you don't embarrass them.
By all accounts, Aro's distinguishing feature is that there is nobody he isn't willing to kill.
People would be crying injustice for a while, but I imagine those voices would be silenced in death or through intimidation, and with vampires having such a high turnover rate it would only be a few centuries before they were forgotten by all but those who keep their mouths shut about it.

hey zeepie! HIHIHIHII!!!!
ermmm
irl bestie headcannons? why the hell not, happy Valentine's season (or smt) a lot of this is purely imaginative, as im cautious about ppl online. I hope you feel better ❤️
if we were irl besties, I would prolly be afraid to text you a lot. id send u shitty memes and funny shit id find on Pinterest and think you would judge me about it, before seeing you happily text me back.
we would text about things happening, like gen alpha slang, or about our future. lots of intrusive thoughts from my way with frightened commentary from you
while I may be busy often, I try to fit my friends with my schedule, even if they don't match often (they go to public school) so youd be invited to Mexican parties, bday parties, skating hangouts, or even the once-in-a-life-time boy girl party.
and other times, I just want to spend time w/ you. sometimes I would invite you to the park to simply interact, or we would visit each other's house for a self care day. Everytime I see you, I just tackle you in a giant hug, as you struggle to hold me a bit.
id bring all of my favorite masks, along with the best snacks possible. you would prolly have the blankets and towels. imagine me loading up fortnite on my Nintendo as I make you an account for your tv 💀💀💀
like the 'its my first time' adult x 'imma protect you no matter what' 16 yr old trope. you'd call me cringe as I finish setting you up, and invite to my party for 3 rounds of battle royale.
we lost all three 😭.... but! but- we did get at least 9 kills on average per round, that's a win for me 👀 the opps were too strong for us 😞🫴🏾
id steal your remote as i press the tubi app, choosing some trash iteration of the monkey king. you'd laugh so hard about it the whole time, while id be rambling about the quality of CGI and the differences between modern movies.
while we talk I may poke you a bit, you swatting my hands threatening to fight. it's just smt abt tickling that makes a blk person wanna throw hands 🫠 👊🏾💥👊🏾💥other times id sooth through your hair in a spaced out silence, not really minding anything.
you'd ask about my locs sometimes, and my haircare routine. (thinking abt it now, I haven't gotten my hair done in almost a month 💀) so you'd prolly ask why my roots are so fluffy instead of rolled up. a smile would com across your face as I continue to explain, telling you about the palm rolling + clipper process, the dangers of water, and oil buildup. you laugh as I tell you about my dream to dye my roots neon green, keeping my tips pink.
(fun fact: [and this could apply to every hair type, but especially locs] when you leave water in locs w/o drying properly, you could literally grow matted mold. it can become very smelly and strong, because hair in general ESPECIALLY CONJOINED HAIR soaks up water like a fuckin towel. and if you arent careful about the products u use/what products you use, and how often you wash your hair, it can cause oil buildup pretty easily.
im not sure why, but when I add water to my hair, my scalp dries up and it starts to shed 😭😭 I SWEAR I USE OIL-)
and sometimes ill disappear for a month. it won't be on purpose of course! as soon as I get my phone in my hands, I'm racing to send you my entire meme bank, making you cackle during the early hours of the morning.
and when we can't meet up, well just ramble to each other over call, or play shitty Roblox obbies on discord. throw writing ideas, communicate, au's fictional and irl, existential dread, carpet fuzz. anything really!
and we would be really good friends too- like, top tier verbalization, positive affirmations, and happiness all the way ❤️
the only thing I could think of you and me arguing about is the use of my n word tendencies for stupid things. or my procrastination-
but other than that, being your irl bestie would be awesome! id make sure of it ❤️
ohh uhym
just, uh, aha- gimme a second? chippy?- babe– ,,

I don't know which of my mutuals are comfortable with it but I'm making a post for y'all right now to express my appreciation in a silly way and if you don't like it tell me how I can express it for you otherwise. Let me learn yalls love languages and let me love you.
Anyways here goes. (this got way too long so I'm putting it under the cut)
Mutuals, I am kissing you on the mouth (silly). I'm in love with you. We are going to the grocery/convenience store and buying candy and snacks and stuff. I'm making you dinner. I'm playing with your hair and giving you hugs. We are cuddling under a heated weighted blanket. We are baking cookies. You have eggs and sugar and fuzz in your hair and I pick it out like monkeys do with bugs. I'm giving you a blanket or my hoodie when you're cold. We're both too tired to cook so I'll trim the chicken and chop the veggies and you do the seasoning and the oven. We're trading life stories and getting high. We play with our OCs like dolls and watch cartoons or shitty TV. We sing along to old rock songs and sit in silence. We gush over our cute pets and plants you tell me which fictional character you want to screw the most. We make our own constellations with a bag of old glow-in-the-dark stars we found in the basement. We make stories about those constellations. We're dancing silly whiteboy bad style. We're battling with nerf guns and lightsabers. We put on noise cancelling headphones when the noisy ass cars are dragging down the street. We find the neighbor's outdoor cat (he escaped again) and pet him and take pictures. We're getting drunk and riding the bus home. Hopefully we don't get lost because we can't afford an uber. We go volunteering, maybe at the shelter, and we fantasize about adopting the animals that cling to us the most, or maybe the ones that are scared and hiding from us because we want them to not be scared anymore.
You're a mother struggling to get her stroller out the bus door so I pick up the other end to help you out. You thank me with a smile and I get back on the bus because this isn't my stop but I love you and your kid and your kid's otter stuffie. You're strangers to me.
We get heart-shaped swag glasses from the condom manufacturer's tent at the pride parade festival thing. We trade lipsticks and I do your eyebrows.
We go to an empty movie theatre and talk and dance and get separate popcorn because you always add too much butter.
I give you the yellow skittles because they're your favorite and my least favorite.
We go to a haunted house and you squeeze my hand when you get to scared and I make a joke to make it a little less scary.
I go through old jewelry boxes during spring cleaning and find a bracelet I know you would love. Maybe you don't wear it but you keep it anyways because you know I love you.
There's a hairdye stain on the shower curtain from when we got a little too wild. It won't come out in the wash and I'm glad.
I sew patches on your jacket and you buy me lunch.
You help me pack up my things. There's not enough room in my new apartment for all my stuffed animals. I give you my giant Squirtle because it's your favorite and I know you'll take good care of him.
You break your favorite coffee mug. I don't have real gold but I glue it back together and paint the seams with glitter kintsugi style. It won't hold water anymore so it sits on your desk holding your pens.
We go to the thrift store - I try on a silly hat and learn the hard way that the ribbon on it is held in place by sharp pins. It's cold out and we don't have gloves so I hold your hands and try to warm them up with my own. The bus is late and it's raining and cold so we wait in the 7/11 and hope the bus takes its time.
You're clawing your way out of a rough patch but your room is a disaster so I help you clean it. You're embarrassed by the sheer amount of instant food wrappers and dirty dishes on the floor but I don't mind.
You call me drunk because your date ditched you and you don't feel safe heading home alone. I pick you up with icecream and a movie and we watch it in our pajamas. You don't want to wash the makeup off your face so I bribe you with a fancy face scrub and we treat ourselves well for the night.
We play old videogames we've had for years that are only fun together. We go out stargazing. You're nervous about a date and I help you pick out an outfit and hype you up for it. If your partner doesn't treat you well I threaten to kick their ass even though we both know I'd lose in a fight. I might just do it anyways.
We go to the skatepark and I try to learn to skateboard. It's not going well. We mostly sit at the top of the ramp and talk. I tell you about a game you don't really like but I do and you tell me about a band I don't like but you do and we listen to each other. We disagree on things and we have our own opinions and we're people but we love each other and we talk nice and hanging out is fun.
I text you after months of not talking and we get coffee together. We're still friends and we're still in love.
I tell you that I'm in love with you and you know I mean it. I love you as a sibling, a friend, a stranger, a mentor. I love you and I want you to know that. I love you and I want to do all these things with you. I love you and I want you to be happy. I want to make you happy. I love you and I'll love you tomorrow and I'll love you when we're strangers again.
I hope this makes sense. I'm rambling now. I'm trying to remind myself that I'm in love with things.
Remember that you love things, too. I think it helps.

Maya & Dearborn, #123 please 😜
Maya Bishop & Charlotte Dearborn, Station 19
123: "fuck you." - "when?"
------------------------------------------------------------
There it is again. The high-pitched ringing in her ears, blocking out every other sound trying to get in.
It started this afternoon, right after that water heater exploded in her face. At that moment Maya believed it was a fitting reaction to the loud noise, but it's been hours now, and yet the ringing keeps coming and going - completely out of nowhere. And though it only lasts for a minute or so, it's highly uncomfortable.
It's also why it takes her a bit to realize the woman at the sink next to hers is talking to her.
"St-io- -in-tee- r-ght? -m Ch-r-tt-, -om -elf."
"I- I'm sorry, what?!" Maya answers, turning towards her and trying to focus the best she can. If only she could read lips.
(Talking about lips, this woman has quite a pair.)
While Maya's a little distracted by the view, the woman keeps talking to her; unaware that Maya doesn’t hear her.
"I -m lieu-en-t a- -ta-ion -wel-, - kno- y- -iend, He-e-a."
Feeling her frustration rise, Maya tilts her head and shakes it with vigor. When it doesn't do the trick, she starts tapping her ear, which seems to amuse the other woman.
"Got som- wate- in ther-?" she grins.
"Something like that," Maya answers, finally picking up most of it - at least she hopes so. She turns off the tap, then looks over her shoulder as she reaches for the towel dispenser - which, of course, is empty. "Have we uhm... have we met?"
(She would know, right? Yes, she would definitely know.)
When the woman hands her a paper towel from her side, their hands briefly touch. Maya mumbles a thank you, and notices with relief that the ringing is finally gone.
"Not personally," the answer sounds perfectly clear, "But I've seen you around. You know, in the field."
Maya doesn't know. But that could be because she missed half of what was said before. And that's not something she'd like to admit.
So she just nods.
The woman leans one hip against the sink, then casually crosses her arms. Maya is no stranger to bathroom chats with random chicks, but for some reason she's not so sure if this one may lead to something fun - despite liking what she sees.
"Rumor has it you guys got yourself trapped again."
Her smirk is challenging.
Maya mirrors her pose. "What do you mean, again ?!"
"Don't you know? Nineteen has quite the reputation."
Never accepting any trash talk about her station, Maya takes a step forward, trying to overawe. Yet with her challenger stepping back simultaneously, her attempt seems more like the start of the cha-cha-cha.
Maya pretends not to notice it. "Bullshit!" she calls out without blinking.
"You think I'm making this up? You people keep getting yourself in trouble every other week. Nothing wrong with a reputation though. Yours, for example—"
"Whoa whoa whoa!" Maya stops her, raising her hand. "My reputation?!"
Bright laughter echoes through the bar's bathroom again. "Well yeah. I mean, within a different scene, but you know..." She clicks her tongue. And this time, Maya does know.
She narrows her eyes. "Are you slut shaming me?"
The woman cocks her head, an almost innocent look crossing her face. "Not at all! I'm just... curious what the fuzz is all about."
Maya snorts, then shakes her head - not willing to take the bait any longer. "Fuck you," she simply tells her off.
The woman's response comes fast, before Maya gets the chance to turn away from her.
"Sure," she chuckles, raising her brows, "When?"
Frozen in motion, Maya stares at her. At this annoyingly cocky, but also annoyingly hot woman right in front of her. Who's clearly having way more fun than she is.
(Which seems highly unfair.)
Not giving it another thought she moves in, crashing their lips together with force and impatience. Their tongues quickly find each other. Their hands follow. It's a hungry kiss. A good one, a really good one, and stopping seems the most stupid thing they could do.
Maya gives herself one second to break it though, giving in to the need to open the stall door closest to them. And - admittedly - to win this thing.
Heavily panting, and already directing the both of them towards the empty stall, she manages to have the last word: "Now."
(After all, it's been a long day. And it is still Wednesday.)

Anyway two for one movie review (tldr; I recommend watching the second one):
Moonfall: 5.8/10. Decent special effects but the dialogue was clunky and/or cheesy, and also I didn't like any of the characters except for Fuzz Aldrin, who was a cat (he had two scenes). Also the science (if it could be called that) grated on my nerves and the twist at the end immediately sucked most of the enjoyment I had of the movie away
I Am Dragon: 8.5/10. Movie looked incredible (although the movement of the dragon was a bit clunky at times). I recommend this movie if you like, idk, romance and dragons (it is in Russian though, with only subtitles), so a bit of a spoiler warning for the rest of my review (under the read more because it got a bit long)
I did not initially have high hopes for this movies, because it was abundantly clear that this was a romance movie, and one that kicked off with the main character, Mira, being kidnapped by Arman, the dragon, so I figured Arman would be a weirdo of some sort (at least a bit)
Turns out: not true, actually (you can skip most of this I'm just explaining why)! Arman is not a dragon that can just incidentally shapeshift into a human; he is, functionally, a human that became a dragon through the use of a ritual. He lived alone on an island (which is actually a massive dragon skeleton its cool as fuck) with his father, but when he was a boy, his father was killed. Up until then, he had been hesitant about wanting to become a dragon proper, but seeing his father killed convinced him to take the leap.
Now, in the present day, he regrets the decision, because with the dragon transformation came the memories of his dragon ancestors, and their hate; he has little control over himself when he's a dragon. So now whenever he has to transform he shoves himself into a tiny cave, and his only friend is a weird little cat thing
Arman does not kidnap Mira out of choice, and instead because her people sang their old dragon summoning song at her wedding (because she's getting married to the grandson of the dragonslayer), he flies off before he gets into his cave
While he does initially keep this little bit of trivia secret from Mira , she finds out pretty quickly he's the dragon and they become friends, and then eventually lovers. A bit annoying at times for me how insistent he is on protecting her from the dragon/himself, but like, understandable. It's practically hardwired into him to kill her (for spoiler reasons) and he does love her
Anyway tldr Arman isn't a creep. Watch this movie please tell me what you think of it.

brainrot about...
foul legacy looking for you despite childe's protests. the abyss entity has near full control over the harbinger's body, so why would he listen to some human?
you, terrified of foul legacy, brandishing a black iron sword in your trembling grip, tears tracking their way down your face, leaving marks in the dirt and grime that's accumulated on the skin from weeks of running.
liyue is the least kind nation.
foul legacy looks at you, shaking with fear and breathing shallowly, trying desperately to regain your bearings, but it's nigh impossible to when a creature of the abyss is standing directly in front of you.
to top it off, you don't know if he'll kill you.
you know childe can control the form quite well; you watched the fight between him and lumine on your computer, shaking with excitement at the prospect of being able to challenge the eleventh harbinger himself.
what you don't know is that foul legacy is an entity of its own.
he takes a step closer, but before he can even start to coo, you swing the blade at him. you miss, of course, but it still hurts him--foul legacy and childe, who has finally seen through that damn imposter pretending to be you--to see you so scared.
you shouldn't be scared of the world that you helped to nurture, even if you don't remember it.
"if you're going to kill me, just get it over with. I've had enough torture, just end it! please..."
the last word of your sentence comes out wobbly and terrified.
childe, who has now regained partial control over his form, speaks softly to your shaking figure.
"I'm not going to hurt you."
"that's what they all said!"
he flinches. ouch, that stung. but he supposes you're right, in a way.
"I promise. can I come closer?"
no verbal response from you, but a nod tells him all you need to know. why you're saying yes is a mystery to you.
childe settles next to you, not touching you at all, leaned up against the hard stone currently supporting your back.
a curious chirp comes from his voicebox, and that's when you crack a smile, an actual smile, for the first time since you were dropped into this hellhole with no way of escaping.
childe steps back for a moment to let foul legacy take control over their form, and the first thing the abyssal creature starts to do is purr. yup. purr.
you stifle a happy gasp, reluctant to show any kind of hope, but gods, he was so... so safe, so warm.
foul legacy picks up on it, offering a seat to you in his lap.
and you take it.
the fuzz he has is soft and warm and so safe, you want to cry at how secure you feel when he wraps his arms around you, careful of any injuries you may have sustained and avoiding your back with his claws.
this is nice.

Hank x Affectionate Reader x 2BDamned
A Moments Peace
─── ・ 。゚☆: *⋘ 𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑎... ⋙☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Nevada was a cold place, that's for sure. The gray desert stretching for miles and every day a test to one's will…. No one could consider this state of the world producing anything good- and for the most part it didn't. It produced Air thick with the stench of Gunpowder, and sand clumped together by blood.
But there was the rare gem of hope. A small spark of light.
For you- That was your partners of whom you were currently cuddled tight with, holding onto them both tight as if the world would rip them from your grasp if you didn't… and they held you just as tight in their own iron grips. They've seen death and all it has to offer- but they've seen your smile and known there was at least something worth coming back for.
Hank nuzzled a bit closer into the fuzz of your hair, trying his best to keep from resting his metallic lower jaw on you lest it sink into your flesh and cause you harm- You're one of the two people he would never want to hurt after all. 2BDamned had his face pressed into the crook of your neck, each breath drifting over your skin as it escaped through the holes torn in his jaws long ago, currently not hidden by a mask.
This was the time the three of you got to share. It was rare to find and even rarer it went uninterrupted- but it was still the time you had with each other, time where the pains and aches of this world of madness melted away into something softer, into gentle kisses and loving holds. It was a thing so rare to you and to them since Hank was often on missions and Doc having to clean up the mess- typically involving stitching Hank together with a lecture -leaving you to tend to your own devices. But it's what you had now, to enjoy together.
At least until there was a knock at the door… you'd be a fool to try to pretend you didn't hear a scratchy and annoyed growl from Hank's throat at the intrusion to your time, Doc letting out an annoyed grunt of his own as he turned away from you and to the door.
"What. This better be damn important."
Deimos' sheepish voice trailed through the closed door, muffled by the thick material.
"Yeah… Sanny and I were doing some sparring and we need the medkit."
2B's voice carried nothing but annoyance as he spoke, huffing as he heard an amused giggle pressed past your own lips. "And you know where to find that. I'm not going to frequently patch you two idiots up because you did something stupid. Go get the medkit and help each other, unless you'd like Hank to get up and assist." He stated plainly- knowing very well the last thing either of those two wanted was an angry Hank. Hearing the footsteps retreat, Your annoyed lover pressed back against you and tried to get comfortable again. As he settled, he let out a faint purr feeling you press a kiss to his temple to calm him down, one following it for Hank on his cheek to keep him calm as well and not getting up to go tear Deimos apart. You tightened your hold on them both just a tad more, whispering softly to them both the three words they never thought they'd hear in this hellscape to further soothe them.
"I love you~"
And they love you too. ♡

Jeremiah Valeska X Reader Imagine (Smut)
from wattpad
You were smart. so was Jeremiah. you could see he was smart and Jeremiah could see that you were smart. he didn't want to fuck with you. he knew it was a bad idea. and you didn't want to fuck with him.
your little unspoken deal lasted a few weeks. Eventually Jeremiah started recruiting your men. That was the first of his many mistakes. then he blew up the clock tower, another huge mistake. this was your city, too.
Maybe you should pay ol' valeska a visit.
you wore your best suit. tight black leather pants, a neat shirt, your signature trench coat and a f/c tie.
you also dropped by a store on the way, to try and find a hat as utterly ridiculous as his.
you snuck unassumingly into the building that contained his temporary lair. luckily Oswald had heard where he had settled for a few days.
You found a chair in a dimly lit corner and waited.
After an hour or two, you heard a door and footsteps.
you saw his shadow in the room.
a calm coo echoed into the room
"I know you're hear, miss L/N. I had a feeling you might show up."
you stood and walked to the doorway and there he stood, suit and all, hands gripping a cane
"then you must know why I'm here." you reply.
"ah yes, I do apologize if my actions do impede on your efforts. however, and this may seem harsh, y/n, but....
maybe you should have made this city yours when you had the chance."
you stood and stared at him. you start to chuckle.
"my dear valeska, you can tear this city down in a day, but you can't build it in one. I was once ambitious like you."
you step in closer to him.
"you steal one more of my men, and it won't be a matter of will I kill you. it will be how."
you reveal a knife and stick it to his neck. he remains calm, doesn't move an inch. he seems to get the message, but he's not threatened.
"Your so much smarter than your brother, Jeremiah. I had such high hopes for you. but now I'm starting to think your too...reserved? systematic? you have no originality, my friend. sometimes that's the one thing that will save you."
you remove the knife from his neck and lean right into his face.
"if you pull this off, I will be...very impressed."
you back away and turn to the door.
it shuts.
"not so fast, miss L/N"
you stopped and turned on your heels.
"yes?"
"why not stay and chat for a moment? do we really have to be so bitter to each other?"
you look at him for a moment, then walk to him.
.
.
.
.
You sit across from each other, sipping tea politely.
"why do you think I killed your men?"
Jeremiah asks.
" I don't know frankly. All I really care about is if your going to do it again."
you stare at your tea for a moment.
"or maybe you wanted to get my attention." you question playfully, with a suggestive smile.
Jeremiah continues to sip his tea with a solemn face.
"for someone as smart as you I'm surprised you didn't realize that sooner."
you sit and think quitely. there are several reasons he could want your attention. To make an ally of you? to kill you? you looked at him intently.
"why do you want my attention."
you ask
"to bring you here."
"why here?"
he sips his tea.
"so I can drug you of course."
you freeze. fuck.
you start to feel it. the lightness. the fuzzness. it's uncomfortable. everything starts to get blurry and faded.
"you know, I'm surprised at how easy it was to capture you, darling. but don't worry, you were still a challenge."
.
.
.
You wake up tied to a bed, in nothing but your bra and underwear.
the room is furnished well. There's a lot of antique art work and wood.
You try to free yourself.
"ah, good. your awake. " Jeremiah says through the door. You continue to struggle as his footsteps get louder.
the door creaks open.
Jeremiah struts in slowly, holding a riding crop. hes wearing just kakis and a dress shirt and back gloves. His shirt sleeves are rolled up to his elbows.
in your head, you couldn't help but get excited. He looked so hot and demanding, and you loved it. you didn't want his to know it though, not yet at least.
"hello, dearest. I hope you enjoyed your nap." he says, leaning over you.
"what the fuck are you doing?"
"what does it look like I'm doing, y/n? I'm going to show you why I killed your men."
you spit in his face. he wipes himself delicately.
"If I were you, I wouldn't want to make things any worse for you-"
he grabs you agressivly, turning you over onto your back, twisting your arms and wrists. you cry out.
Then, he whips you. right across your ass. It hurts, but you like it. you let out a scream. He does it again, another scream.
He hits you a third time, this time you whine.
"what was that, sweet?" he climbs ontop of you and whispers. you don't answer.
"answer me." he says, grabs you by the hair gently and pulls back your head.
you whine again.
"yes, that doesn't sound like someone in... pain, does it? if I knew better, I would think you liked me punishing you."
He drops your head, and then throws the whip. You watch his gloves fall onto the nightstand.
Then, you feel the harsh sting of his hand going down on your ass.
"you're an awfully obedient whore for a killer, miss L/N."
You couldn't help it. You loved him hitting you, beating you silly. You wanted to laugh it felt so good.
But you kept it in as best you could.
"You're so quiet now. So disappointing."
Jeremiah gives your ass one last good, hard smack, and flips you back over.
"perhaps, I should be a gentleman, and do something for you, darling. I do feel bad for being so... harsh on our first date,"
he leans down to your face, and makes intense eye contact with you as he slowly and gently removes your panties.
He leans away, removing them fully from your body, and tucks them neatly into his shirt pocket.
"I'm sorry I've been such a bad host, miss y/n, I do hope this makes up for it." he leans into your sweet warmth and gently writhes his tounge between your sopping wet folds.
you give up, and let out a deep moan.
you can feel Jeremiah smile a little.
"do you like that, little one?" he pulls away from you, and you whine.
"mm yes, you do." he says lustfully, and continues feasting on your heat.
his tounge glides a long the lips of your pussy, covering it in spit. your legs tremble every now and then from the pleasure.
"oh god, Jeremiah, I think I'm-"
"ah ah ah, not so fast, my dear. That only happens when I am ready." he says in his soft, calm voice.
you watch him lean up, his crotch bulging out at you, begging for you.
you lick your lips and bite your lip a little.
"hungy, darling?" he says amused.
"please," you beg.
"address me properly, then I will reward you."
"please, master." you say
"very good." he pushes your body back so you can sit up more, and then undoes his pants.
He shoves himself into your mouth and you moan in pleasure.
he pushes himself deeply into you, letting out a high moan.
"your so insides are so tender, my sweet, for someone so wicked."
he thrusts into you again, harder.
You let a moan of pleasure escape your lips.
"I knew I could get something out of you. Now, I wonder how much it takes to make you scream."
his voice becomes more hushed, deep and ravenous.
He pounds into you, in a steady pumping motion. You hear him seething as he pushes himself in all the way. You can't help but moan.
He lifts up your waist slightly, but pushes your back down. The pressure on your stomach drives you closer to your climax.
"Jeremiah, I'm- "
"yes, Y/N. finish for me."
your moan turns into a scream. Jeremiah lets out a soft moan of relief,
and pumps again a few times while his cock softens.
"Your so lovely." he whispers in your ear.
you respond with nothing but a moan.
"your mine. anyone who touches you will regret it."
you whimper at his protective words.
"Now sleep, my princess."
