When you were 8, you’d ask your mom all about love. What it was, what it felt like— the side effects. Your mother would always tell you the same thing…
“It’s like when you see those biiiig rollercoasters, you always wanna get on one, right? But it’s kind of scary because of the bad things that can happen, so now you have to decide… do you want to leave and regret not getting on the rollercoaster, or take the chances to either have the best ride of your life— or the worst one.”
Of course, you were only 8, so you took your moms speech literal. You wanted to get on a rollercoaster! You also wanted the love your father and mother had— or what they showed you. What they wanted you to see.
Though, when you started to grow up, you realized that you didn’t want the love that your parents had. You also began to realize that what she told you about love— wasn’t about taking the risk of falling in love with your father.
It was the risk of having and loving you.
WEEK 10 — “I TELL MYSELF YOU DON’T MEAN A THING,”
“Will Gojo be attending?” Asked your mother, resting her thin arms on the cool metal table. She loved the temperature, definitely helping with her constant body heat.
You shook your head, keeping your attention solely on the multiple cupcakes sitting in front of you. Despite being different flavors, the icing all looked the same.
Buttermilk, coconut, lemon. After a while, they started to taste the same. You hated sweets all-the-more; only indulging when you’re stress eating. Unfortunately, you weren’t stressed.
Making this entire experience even worse.
Your mother, on the other hand, was excited for the experience. Her only daughter, lucky for her to be alive— lucky to be alive herself, and she gets to see her get married.
“I do hope he’ll attend the dress fitting.”
Sighing, you pushed away the cupcake in front of you. “No need,” Resting both arms over your chest, “I’m just gonna find one my size. Doesn’t matter what it looks like.”
Your mother frowned. “It does matter how it’ll look, Y/N,” She scolds; almost in a motherly way. “It’s your big day.”
The urge to snap at your mother grew with each second. No, it wasn’t your big day. You didn’t want your first marriage to be with someone who had no absolute feelings for— you hated the fact you were even being forced to do this.
After a few moments of silence, your mother places her hands over one another, keeping them settled in her lap.
“You know, you’re so adamant on the fact you’ll fight soon. This’ll be your only normal experience before you’re back to training. Appreciate it. Take a break.”
WEEK 9 — “AND WHAT WE GOT, GOT NO HOLD ON ME,”
“One, two, three, spin!”
Just like the last six spins, Satoru wasn’t grasping onto the concept of keeping your hands locked when sending someone off for a turn.
Leaving you dizzy and stumbling to the floor— again.
A small scoff left your lips, pushing yourself off the ground with a huff. “Seriously, does having weird eyes also affect your hearing?” Asking with a tone, you returned to the position in front of him. “You’re not supposed to let go of me.”
Satoru couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re getting very worked up over a little spin.”
“Well my knees are sore because you can’t follow basic instructions,” Another roll to your eyes, a habit you’ve been picking up on (mostly around him). “I seem to forget that being the strongest doesn’t correlate with the smartest, huh?”
The instructor walked closer, clapping his hands together, hoping to ease the tension between the couple. “How about we try again? We can always switch it up a little if it helps.”
You sent the instructor a small smile, returning to Gojo with a neutral expression. “One, two, three—”
Satoru releases your hand, tugging the ringing phone out of his pocket. He quickly glances at the screen before shoving it back into its home, looking down at you on the ground, again.
“Gotta go.”
You pulled your eyebrows together, opening your mouth to speak, but he beats you to it by a second. He holds out a finger to you, faux smile on his face.
“Can’t make the dress rehearsal, either,” He shrugged his shoulders, turning for the door. As he’s taking long strides with his even longer legs, he waves at you from behind.
“Might wanna get off the floor! Never know what germs are lingering.”
You huff, keeping your seat on the floor. You simply hugged your legs to your chest, dropping your head between your knees.
WEEK 8 — “BUT WHEN YOU’RE NOT THERE, I JUST CRUMBLE.”
“After the marriage, she’ll stay at your estate— yet she’ll see our doctors. We’ll send them over every week, along with extra helpers and maids.” Sousuke had his feet propped up on the small stool in front of him, checking off from his list. “Gotta make the marriage look believable. I’m sure your our elders wouldn’t be happy with a fake marriage combining our clans.”
Gojo sits on the couch across from him, legs spread, hands folded together in the middle, just the slightest hunched forward. He raises his eyebrow. “What about trainers?”
Sousuke stops shaking his pen, raising his eyes to the man before him. “Huh?”
“You know, the people who’re supposed to help train your daughter for her big battle,” He pulls himself back, resting his spine on the couch. He intertwines his fingers and rests them on his lap. “I’m very excited to see her go against… who is it… her brother?”
Sousuke chuckled deeply, shaking his head to the man. “No trainers. She has yet to even prove herself… hasn’t even fought anyone, let alone killed someone at all.” He adverts his eyes back to the paper. “She’s not going against Ryou.”
“I think I remember her saying she’d fight him,” Satoru shrugs, pointing to one of his ears. “Think my eyes are affecting the ears.”
Tension grows between the two. Two clan heads, both stubborn and obstinate; what an absolutely horrible idea to possibly mix them. It’s like cross—breeding a cat and a dog. The power dynamic between the two almost suffocated everyone in that room.
Sousuke hums, slipping his pen into the top of his clipboard. He knows what his daughters wishes are— she’s even lucky to have them. It sort of ticks him off that she has so many requests, so much to say and a lot to argue about… when she could’ve been dead years ago.
One thing about Sousuke Shio? He loathed doing extra work.
Why put in so much effort and money into creating the generational battle when he already knows who’s gonna win? There’s no fun in that— and it’s a waste of his precious time. He could be using that time to breed— continuing the bloodline.
“How’s this sound?” He places the clipboard down, resting his hands at his lap. “You like to teach children how to use their energy, right? Teach that brat how to use hers. Then maybe she won’t die four seconds in. Make it worth our time, will ya’?”
Gojo smiles back, his blood boiling under his skin. Brat? Worth his time? This man had a large stick up his ass, and all Satoru wanted to do was rip it out and beat him with it.
Sousuke partially reminded Gojo of his elders— no companionship or care for anyone other then themselves. He hated them for that… all he’s wanted to do was change that. Never wanted to be anything like that, either.
Selfish bastards.
WEEK 7 — “I TELL MYSELF I DON’T CARE THAT MUCH,”
The curtains were pulled back, revealing you in a puffy, cream colored white dress. It was strapless, showing off your collarbones and shoulders. It had surprisingly fit better than you thought, but it didn’t scream to you.
Neither did the other four.
You looked at the mirror in front of you and immediately felt nauseous. You were supposed to be doing this for someone you loved, with family members watching and cheering you on. This moment is what some people apparently dream of, but it seemed nothing like the magazines you read.
Nothing like the movies you watched with your mother— or the stories about her own wedding.
Your mother clapped her hands together gently, sending you a golden smile. “That one is gorgeous,” She points at your chest, raising her eyebrows. “Little seductive, too. Perfect on you.”
Adverting your eyes from the mirror, over to your mother, you couldn’t ignore the fact that despite being severely malnourished and deprived— she’s got a smile on her face, pure happiness from watching her daughter prepare for her big day.
“This’ll be your only normal experience before you’re back to training.” Her words lingered. Maybe you should take this for advantage— you’ll be back to patching up cuts and bruises in a few weeks. What’s wrong with a few days off?
Importantly, your mother seemed to be enjoying this experience a lot more than you were. No matter how sick she felt, she followed you to every appointment, helped you with picking and choosing what will be served and what music should be played.
You couldn’t ruin it for her; especially since she didn’t have a proper one herself.
“You like it, mom?” You asked, walking out in another dress. You fisted the sides, attempting to spin around on your bare toes. “I think I’d like it more if the sleeves were lace.”
She laughs, “Sleeves with lace it is.”
WEEK 6 — “BUT I FEEL LIKE I DIE, ‘TILL I FEEL YOUR TOUCH.”
“This is his wife?”
A young girl, green hair tied up up into a ponytail, keeps her eyes on you. She’s scanning you up and down, mouth agape, as if she’s seen something she wanted— for a price she’s willing to pay.
You looked down at your outfit, a pair of very low waisted jeans and a white long sleeve that didn’t reach the waistband of your pants, leaving some skin to show. You shoved your hands into your pockets. “I… should I have worn a different shirt?”
She shook her head rapidly. “N-No! You look awesome!” She smiles. “I just mean… you’re so pretty. Especially in person. I totally thought Gojo-sensei was lying about getting married!”
“Salmon.” A boy with dirtier—white hair spoke under his collar.
Before you knew it, your cheeks were warm, followed by your ears burning. “Oh, um, thank you.” You spoke shyly, not one to really receive compliments— especially about your looks.
You’ve never had the chance, either. You were stuck in a community with just family until months ago… you barely even known compliments existed.
The large panda beside her took a step forward, placing a big hand on his friends shoulder. “Sorry about her,” He sends you a toothy smile. “She’s Maki. I’m Panda— and collar guy is Inumaki.”
“Nice to meet you guys,” You bowed slightly, “I’m—”
“We know who you are,” Maki cheeks begin burning visibly, probably more nervous than you were. “Shio Y/N from the Shio Clan. The bearer of five. You’re like, either a myth or a legend around here.”
“I wouldn’t say legend!” Gojo smiles, walking up the hill to see his fiancé and students all interacting with one another.
Once he’s made his way over to the conversation, he stands beside you, almost an entire foot taller than you. He simply looks over, peering down at you with an unreadable expression.
No matter how many times you look at him, with or without that dingy white blindfold wrapping around his eyes or his black glasses— you couldn’t read him. You couldn’t figure him out for the life of you.
His aura even read nothing.
“Yeah… I…” You look away from him, back to the students before you. “I’m just Y/N here, okay? I’m sure we can all learn something from one another.”
“Pollack roe.” Inumaki sends you a thumbs up.
WEEK 5 — “ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS.”
“Talked to your father.” A voice echoed behind you, causing you to spin around on your heels.
You stumbled slightly, catching yourself on the counter beside you. Stupid fucking shoes— first time wearing a pair and you feel like your legs are absolutely jelly.
Nonetheless, you chuckle bitterly, hoping to lighten the mood and the obvious tension between you and your fiancé. “That couldn’t’ve been good,” Once his expression stayed the same, you look down at your feet. “What’d he say?”
“Jus’ told me about the doctor that’s supposed to visit every week.” He crosses his arms, watching you play with the material of your black dress.
“But I also wanted to tell you that I’ll be a gone for a bit after the wedding. Missions and all,” As expected. You weren’t even sure why he was telling you in the first place. “There’s some work being done. There’s a bedroom with the lake view for you— I’ll be on the other side.
That was a little weird. You could understand not wanting to sleep next to each other considering you didn’t know one another— but being on complete opposite sides of the house? That’s really awkward.
You shook your head, careful not to mess up the low bun neated in your hair. “You seriously don’t have to do all of that.”
“Don’t really have a choice.”
Gojo Satoru was a popular man. He’s had his fair share of woman problems— tasted every apple under the tree. He could’ve been with anyone else, been doing anything else— wherever else he wanted to be with whoever. He did have a choice.
It even makes you wonder— the million dollar question that has been on your mind for the past five weeks… Why did Gojo Satoru agree to marry you?
“You did have a choice,” Grabbing your clutch from the counter, you tugged the strap onto your shoulder. “You didn’t have to marry me, you made that decision on your own. Believe me, I don’t want anything to do with this just as much as you.”
As you attempted to walk past Gojo, he steps in front of you, halting you in your tracks. You squeezed your eyes shut, expecting to bump right into his chest— but you were met with nothing.
You opened your eyes, seeing how you were just seconds away from his body— yet met with nothing. The closer you had gotten, the slower your body seemed to move. You’ve heard about this before, this foreign technique that only six eye users can do. The infinity.
You took a step back, clearing your throat and dusting your dress from whatever you thought was on there. Focusing on that was a lot better than thinking about how there was absolutely no trust between you two, that even a barrier made up of matter was now involved.
As if you were just measly business partners.
“There’ll be guards, maids, helpers and chefs there. You should be all set after the ceremony,” He shoved his hands into his pocket, tilting his wrist to check the notification on his watch. “They all report back to me, so, don’t do anything you wouldn’t want tattled about, ‘kay?”
You scoffed. Were you about to leave from one hell to another? This man who knows absolutely squat about you, warning you about ethical behavior and integrity? Using his infinity around you like you were a threat? Staying on the other side of the house? What were you exactly signing your life away to??
“Don’t talk to me like I’m some random woman you’re marrying and forcing to sign a prenuptial agreement.” You took another step back, gripping onto your clutch’s material. “I don’t need chefs or maids. I’m not a housewife. I’ll barely be in your home if that makes you feel any better.”
Silence. Nothing but pure silence. You rolled your eyes, turning on your shoes once more to storm out of the house. Once the door slammed, the house shook slightly, yet Gojo stood there with his hands tucked into his pockets— emotionless.
“That’s too bad.”
WEEK 4 — “SAY I WOULDNT CARE IF YOU WALKED AWAY,”
“Nice to meet you too, Nanami.”
After shaking the man’s hand, you sat on the wheeling chair adjacent from him, crossing your legs over one another. Nanami mimicked your actions, sitting down as well.
He sets his weapon on the table beside you both. “So, have you thought about what technique you want to practice first?” Nanami folds his fingers and rests his hands on his lap. “Or which element you want to use the most?”
…No. That’s what you want to blurt out. You also want to add that you’ve been practically confined for the past twenty four years of your life. You’re not sure what techniques you’d be best for… not sure what elements you want to specialize in— two simple questions and you can’t even answer properly.
You peered down to your lap. “Uh, well I’m not the best with technique definitions, they— I…”
“That’s okay,” Nanami simply nods to you. You can tell he’s trying his best to make you comfortable— but you feel stupid. “Let’s start simple. The five elements you wield, it’s fire, water, air, earth and… void?”
“Space, actually. I know it seems like there’s not a difference, but there’s a barrier for how much we can actually do. Void is too powerful.”
The blonde hums, nodding as you spoke. He kept his eyes on you, in no way rushing you— or even judging you for not having any answers right away. He seemed calm… reserved. Something you weren’t used to.
“Out of all those, which element do you think you’d want to practice first?”
“Air.”
Nanami’s eyebrows raise, “That was quick,” He crosses his arms over one another, leaning back in his seat. “How come? What’s wrong the the others?”
“Well, fire is extremely dangerous. It can be very powerful, but we aren’t immune to it. Using it burns us after a while. Water is too technical, you can manipulate multiple things on accident, like salt, oil and even blood. Earth is limited, very good asset but not something that’ll keep you up the whole fight. Space is first best, but it’s also pretty hard to learn— let alone master, and messing up space techniques is very dangerous.”
You let out a sigh, finishing your ramble, looking away to the window. All up until you realized you were rambling. Your eyes went wide, hands covering you mouth with a low gasp.
“Ohmygod,Imsosorry,Ijustspokesomuch—”
Nanami laughs, shaking his head towards you. “Stop, stop, you’re alright,” He pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose, ignoring the sweat from laughing. “It’s fascinating, don’t worry.”
For some reason, you become flustered. Not because of Nanami— no attraction in anyway, but the fact that you’ve had the chance to talk about your energy. The power you possess. How you felt about it. While at home, your parents wouldn’t ask much about it. You never had the opportunity to talk about the technical reasons, either.
Ryou always did.
You couldn’t help but smile, picking at your fingernails. “Thank you.”
He hums in return, standing up to grab his weapon. “Let’s start with learnable techniques. It’s weaker, but considering the amount of power you hold, you could deal great damage.” Nanami pushes his glasses further up the bridge of his nose. “How’s that sound?”
“Sounds great.”
WEEK 3 — “BUT EVERYTIME YOU’RE THERE, IM BEGGING YOU TO STAY.”
Drip after drip, the medicine dripping into your mother’s IV followed with the sound of the monitor beeping a rhythmic tune. You sighed, keeping her soft, frail hand in yours, rubbing your thumb along her skin.
Resting your head against her arm, you look over to the doctor in the corner, watching him send you gentle, sad smile.
“Is she gonna die soon?”
He clears his throat, questioning how he could deliver such an answer. No child wants to hear about their parents getting sick— let alone dying. He’s signed an oath to his patients, to worry about their well-being, but that comes with their children too.
The doctor walks closer to you, leaning on the wall nearest you. “We’ve sedated her, put her in a medically induced coma so that she could attend your wedding,” He pauses, releasing another breath. “After that, though, we believe that’s all the energy she’ll have left.”
You blink, not moving positions, nor crying or showing any emotion. You simply stared at the wall in front of you, keeping comfort with your mothers hand. Her warm hand, with her warm skin filled with moles, decorating her features.
“So after my wedding… she’ll die?”
The doctor nods. “I’m afraid so.”
WEEK 2 — “MUST’VE BEEN A DEADLY KISS,”
You set your katana down onto your bed, shrugging off your sports jacket and tossing it to the ground. Your body hurt. You knew training was going to be hard— considering you’ve never done it professionally— but god you were dragging your body everywhere now.
Training before your wedding wasn’t a good idea, obviously, but you’d rather get thrown into a gravel wall, slammed through the ground and sliced with your own weapon than to think about what your reality was. What it will be.
The relationship with your mother is special— it’s sacred. Your entire life, you felt left out and alone. Second choice. You were always second choice… but never with your mother. You weren’t a choice to her, not an option— you were a want. And soon, she’ll be gone.
Forever.
You stared at yourself in the mirror, standing in only undergarments, scratches and bruises littering your skin. Your fingers were quick at work, unbraiding the significantly long ponytail that rested on the side of your shoulder.
“Mommy, am I strong?”
“The strongest.”
With a slight frown, you brushed your hair out, watching it poof back up. Doing your hair was a hassle— you missed when your mother would do it. It was so long, so much to handle… but you wouldn’t dare cut it.
Your hair reached to the back of your knees. If there was anything you specialized in, even if it wasn’t fighting— it was your hair. You treat your hair like it’s a prized possession, cause that’s what it is. It’s yours. It’s the only thing you have that you can control. It came from you, you control the length and color.
It’s yours.
You dipped your foot into your bath water— nice and warm, just how you like it. After sinking into the water, you pulled your scraped knees to your chest. The water was clear— not a bubble in sight. The water felt… silent. That’s what you needed. Silence.
Your wet cheeks rested against your knees, staring off at the tile on the walls. You counted each of them, hoping to past time, to keep passing time. You wanted to hold the fast forward button on your life. Skip the part where you marry a man who dislikes you, your mother dying— the fight that can ultimately kill you.
Everyone dies, always. You’ll even be dead soon.
The pathetic option to get married and have kids— despite not knowing if your body can handle childbirth because of your power. Or, you could battle your brother… the brother who’s traveled and specializes in each element he practices. It’ll all be a joke. You’ll be dead anyway.
Those were your options.
You stared down at the clear water, not an emotion on your face. It’s all designed for you to die.
You couldn’t even tell if the droplet that splashed was access bath water or a tear.
Nor did you care.
WEEK 1 — “ONLY LOVE, ONLY LOVE.”
“Thank you guys for coming,” Now surrounded with family, everyone sat in their assigned seats— excited for the rehearsal to be over so that tomorrow… they could see you get married. The first big wedding this Clan has ever had. “Everything seemed to go fine, just a few things that need to be touched up. I’m very grateful you all took the time for today and tomorrow— it means a lot to my fiancé and I.”
Gojo stands next to you, adverting his eyes from the crowd, and back to you. Something’s definitely changed. You seemed more enthusiastic about the wedding— as if you turned on a light switch and all of a sudden… this wedding was the only thing you were looking forward to.
Nonetheless, he smiled over to your family. He bends down to reach the mic, his barrier blocking you both from touching. He looks at the crowd from his glasses. “Feel free to eat and chat. We’ve gotta get going soon, big day tomorrow.”
Your family members all smiled, standing from their seats to walk over to the food. The room filled with chatter once again, everyone taking their eyes off the lovely couple— and your facade dropped. The smile on your lips, bright eyes… it all went away within seconds.
Gojo noticed, and before he had the chance to speak, you were both met with your father walking up the steps, hands deep into his pockets. Despite knowing the news, he was still in a happy mood. Nothing saddens your father more than knowing he had a daughter, so it doesn’t surprise you.
He watches you both, noticing the seemingly awkward tension— but deciding against speaking on it. He turns to look at you, “I’ve been thinking about inviting Ryou. I’m sure he’d want to see his sister getting married.”
Of course he thought about inviting the man superior to you, to your own wedding! Nothing surprises you anymore. All you could do was shrug, sending him a tired smile. “Sure, father. I’m sure Mom would love to see him.” And with that, you walk past Sousuke, no energy to argue with him.
The whole situation confuses Gojo. What could’ve possibly shifted the dynamic between this family within just a few weeks? Is the fight happening sooner than later? Is there an agreement he wasn’t aware of? Is someone dying?
Is someone dying. Gojo huffs, finally catching onto the situation. He should’ve guessed it when Himari never showed up to the rehearsal tonight— plus, you were now finally on board with the wedding she was excited about.
Your mother was dying.
WEEK 0 — “ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS.”
“Dammit, Himari,” Gojo sighs, standing at the end of the woman’s hospital bed. “You makin’ me do this sooner rather than later, huh?”
His eyes scan over the woman. He’s surprised she’s made it this far— extremely malnourished, pale, damn there skin and bones. He wasn’t sure if you were suffering more from seeing your mother dying, and knowing she’d die soon— rather than the death itself.
Gojo makes his way over to the side of her bed, sitting on the space beside her. The room was cold, it was blue— walking in here put him in some kind of depressive state and he wasn’t sure why. He’d only talk to the woman a few times, had a few moments with her, but he was still… sad.
“She’ll win.” He keeps his eyes on her closed ones, her eyelashes resting pretty on her cheeks. Even sickly, she was still a beautiful woman. He could see the similar features between Himari and her daughter.
“I give you my word.”

last request for now i promise! i love the idea of y/n as rio’s girlfriend meeting his family for the first time officially as his girl after he feels like she’s the one. she encounters nick and he ends up asking rio if she could be his plus at a charity benefit and rio’s just like “nah.” and then nick says “always taking what i want” which is what i think he says in the scene while they’re eating in the bar? SO NOW as the family trying
*ask continued* to eat, make small talk, and find out how in the hell rio could have landed home girl, he’s hella protectively jealous now especially since his girl and brother/cousin whatever tf is having a charming conversation and rio’s just seething 🙃. also the idea of this moment seeping into a few days of rio only being cordial with her and keeping her at bay /being assertive to her @ work intrigues me especially if either nick stops by their shared home since he knows it’ll get on rio nerves/or he catches y/n trying out dresses with the notion of attending this event with nick bc she doesn’t underdtand the big deal (+she likes when rio’s possessive but obvi not like this?) and rio’s mad mad but not at her😅. feel free to do whatever you’d like with this. it mostly sounds like angst and possessiveness so can you mush everything together if it’s easier for you.

You could already see how tight-knit his family was when you and Rio both walked into his grandma’s house. So much laughter and shared conversations. It eased your nervousness until they started staring once you walked in.
You started to feel a bit insecure but Rio knew they were just staring at how beautiful you were. As cocky as he was, even a little part of him wondered how he got you.
“Close your mouths before flies get in!” You heard an older woman coming from the kitchen. You saw the resemblance between her and Rio and figured this was his grandma.
You smiled when she first came up to Rio and kissed his cheek before hugging you next. “You must be Y/N. It’s so nice to meet you, carino.”She smiled.
“Likewise.” You hugged her back.
Before sitting down for dinner, Rio introduced you to everyone individually, letting you get comfortable.
You started to connect all the characteristics that Rio had to his family. There was a lot of subtle influences but you finally figured out why Rio was the way he was.
Nick.
“You’re not going to introduce me?” Nick asked Rio, smiling towards you. You could feel the tension coming from Rio.
“Y/N, Nick. My cousin.” He said, reaching for the bowl with the rice.
“Brother.” He corrected, giving him a cold stare.
“Cousin.” Rio corrected again, dumping a ladle full of rice on your plate.
“Nice to meet you.” You said, trying to ignore the quiet battle between the two.
You continued answering questions that everyone had for you. What you did, where you met, etcetera.
“Oh, you’re a councilman.” You said to Nick after he was discussing a city issue that no one could seem to solve.
“I am.” He said, noticing your intrigue. You started to engage yourself in the conversation, giving pointers on the issue that no one had thought of yet.
Rio was proud that you had so much knowledge and insight about every topic but he knew Nick and this conversation made him seethe. He hated that everything he had, whoever he had, Nick always wanted it.
“I like this one, Rio,” Nick laughed.
Rio narrowed his eyes at him. “Yeah, I do too.” He said and you could feel the tension rising again.
“Say, Y/N. There’s a charity benefit next weekend. Why don’t you come?” Nick asked. He was charming, you noticed. Too charming and you realized that there was an underlying evil lurking.
“Oh, um...” You didn’t know what to say. You were so taken aback that he would make a subtle pass at you in front of Rio.
“Always want what I have, huh?” Rio pursed his lips. You saw Rio’s grandma shake her head subtly.
“Always get it too.” Nick smiled.
The next couple of days following and you noticed Rio distancing himself from you but also being unusually possessive.
“Rio, it’s just a benefit. Your grandma even asked if we were going to be there.” You said, placing the call on speaker while you tried on another dress.
“I’m not going to that shit and you aren’t either.” He said, his tone letting you know how serious he was.
You rolled your eyes. “What’s up with you? Your grandma’s expecting us so we’re going Rio.” You said showing him that you can be serious.
“I’m not going to say it again.” He said, getting more upset.
“You’re not my dad, Rio.” You shook your head as he laughed in response.
“That’s not what you were saying the other night.” You could hear his smirk through the phone and kissed your teeth.
“I’ll see you when you get home.” You said before ending the call.
You examined the dress in the mirror and decided to just take it off but before you could, you heard a knock at the door.
You hurried to open it and was taken aback to see Nick standing there. He made a quick glance at the way the dress hugged you before you said something.
“What are you doing here?” You asked.
You noticed how Rio’s smirk was not just a him thing. It ran in the family and also meant that Nick was up to no good.
“Just picking up a package.” He said as he invited himself in, scanning the room around you.
“Oh, well Rio isn’t home right now.” You said, closing the door behind him.
He didn’t seem to mind waiting and you started to wonder what his ulterior motive was. “Oh, the issue we were discussing the other night. What you said surprisingly worked.” He told you.
You smiled proudly and you were just about to say something before you heard the door open indicating Rio was home.
You felt the tension in the room similar to the other day. Rio hid it as much as he could but he wanted so badly to put his hands on Nick. His house, his girlfriend. Everything sacred to him belonged here and Nick still found a way to weasel in.
You told Rio he was here to pick up a package.
“I told you I would give it to you myself." Rio said, dropping his keys. “Well, I was in the neighborhood.” He smiled.
"Your business is on the other side of town.” He said, not buying his story. “Like I said, I’ll give you the package.” He said, emphasizing that it was time for him to go.
Nick laughed to himself and walked to the door to leave. He turned towards you.
“You should go with the red.” He said, hinting towards one of the dresses you tried on. You already saw it coming but you were too far away to stop it.
You flinched once you saw the punch landing on Nick’s jaw.
“Rio!” You called before Nick threw a punch back near his eye. You contemplated how you were going to try to stop their fighting.
You knew it was a possibility of you getting hurt but you tried your best to put your body between them to stop their fists.
“Stop now! Stop!” You yelled, trying to push Rio away. Luckily, they had enough self-control to make sure they wouldn’t hit you and stopped.
“Nick, leave.” You told him. He shook his head while holding his jaw.
“You’re gonna regret that.” He said once more before he left for good.
You pushed Rio, visibly upset with him. “What’s wrong with you?!” You yelled again.
“Y/N, Nick is not trying to hear your opinions on gun control. Dude’s showing up to my crib knowing I’m not home, trying to get you to some charity benefit because he wants you.” He explained, wincing at the soreness in his face.
“I don’t see the big deal.” You said and walked to the freezer to get an ice pack.
“I know you ain’t slow, Y/N.” He said feeling like you weren’t even listening.
You walked back over to him and held the ice to his face, holding it there. “I don’t see how it’s a big deal when you and I both know he can’t have me. You’re so wrapped up in your head that you don’t even realize he’s already succeeding in pissing you off.” You said.
You could see Rio’s defeat. “Yeah, exactly. Look at you.” You rolled your eyes at his blackening eye.
“Sounds like you might be the slow one, dumbass.” You laughed.

BnHA Chapter 317: My Boy Was Just Like Me
Previously on BnHA: AFO randomly blew up Lady Nagant as a good reminder of why you should never make a deal with this fucking guy, smdh. Hawks was all “well if it isn’t my two best friends, Deku and Lady Nagant, both of whom I respect and love tremendously.” Everyone was all “??” and Horikoshi was all “shh... just pretend” because it was too embarrassing for him to admit that he forgot to write a couple of set-up flashbacks I guess. Anyway so Hawks got Lady to tell them where AFO was hiding out, and everyone said goodbye to her and Overhaul, who never did get to see his boss (sorry buddy, I’ll send you a vial of my tears in the mail), and headed out to a house in the woods. AFO was all “hello Deku :) :) it sure is fun making you suffer :) :) :) anyways this is a trap”, and blew up the house. Yeah, we all here are getting reaaaaaaaal tired of your shit, AFO.
Today on BnHA: The Hawksquad and Edgeplatoon meet in a warehouse and are all “what should we do about the fact that everything sucks?” Mt. Lady is all “here’s a thought, what if we tried battling AFO with more than six people.” Hawks and Endeavor are all “great initiative, but just a friendly reminder that our friends also suck and would probably betray Deku which would suck further still.” Shouto is all “ANSWER THE PHONE DAD” and Endeavor is all “[IRONICALLY DOESN’T ANSWER THE PHONE].” Meanwhile over in Sadtown, capital of Sadland Prefecture, Japan, Deku is all “All Might, as you can clearly see I am completely fine and good, never been better in fact, definitely not caught up in the throes of an epic mental breakdown which is shutting me down emotionally, anyway so on that note I would like to leave you now goodbye!!” All Might is all “[can’t actually form any words because he’s too distraught].” Fandom is all “o(╥﹏╥)o.” Horikoshi is all “(*^-’) 乃 [pew pew finger guns and barrel rolls into the darkness].”
sweet jesus lord
Tumblr media
this literally doesn’t even look like Deku anymore?? this looks like Dark!Deku who shows up to fight you in that one room in the Water Temple. he looks like he’s about to crawl out of my television set and murder me with his psychic powers good lord
holy shit lmao Horikoshi is really just shrugging his shoulders and resolving last week’s cliffhanger with a single line of dialogue
Tumblr media
fire is no one’s weakness. idk what other options you’ve got, AFO, but you’re gonna have to go back to the drawing board. maybe try bees or something. I’m just saying. we’re all expecting fire at this point but nobody is expecting bees
anyway so now they’re all sitting in some warehouse somewhere chatting about it I guess. shoutout to Horikoshi for finally giving my man Edgeshot some more dialogue at long last
Tumblr media
well, Edgeshot, to answer your question, she exploded. so naturally she’s fine
nah just kidding, Hawks says she won’t be able to help them out much because she’s recovering from being exploded. this is the part where we all ignore the fact that Hawks got set on fire for like a full ten minutes back during the War arc and was only in the hospital for a day. anyways enjoy your temporary plot hiatus Nagant
man there’s a lot of dialogue here and I’m trying to figure out where to insert commentary but it’s kinda difficult lol. basically, Edge and the others are saying that they should gather up the other remaining heroes and get them all caught up on the whole OFA situation. which, hmmmm
like on the one hand, these guys definitely aren’t going to cut it on their own, so it’s a reasonable suggestion on the face of it. but on the other hand, do we really want to entrust the OFA secret to a bunch of other people, most of whom shat the bed during the War arc to be quite frank? is it really worth the additional risk? especially given that any one of them might go spilling the beans to the public -- or worse, betray them to AFO??
also just a quick side note here, Mt. Lady’s character development never ceases to delight me. she’s become so committed to her responsibility as a hero these days, and it fucking suits her. I genuinely consider to be one of the elites now. I mean it doesn’t hurt that all the other elites are fucking dead lol but still
wait what? Death Arms retired??
Tumblr media
Death Arms as in the guy who was too afraid of a little fire to try and save a terrified 14-year-old kid who was slowly suffocating right before his eyes?? that Death Arms???? color me surprised. shocked, I tell you
...okay but holy fuck
Tumblr media
Death Arms. bro. my expectations for you were low but holy shit. like I’m sorry, but I don’t even have it in me to try and pretend like I feel the slightest bit of sympathy for him or Old Man Samurai or any of those other guys today. thanks for a whole lot of nothing my dude. good riddance
(ETA: so I’m rereading this the next day and realize this comes off as kind of harsh, so let me just try to clarify. it’s not the fact that he’s quitting that bothers me, to be honest. it’s the fact that he’s quitting specifically because he feels like the public is being mean to him. that’s it.
seriously. it would be one thing if he was quitting because he was scared, because now that is human. nobody wants to die, and I doubt any amount of training can ever fully prepare someone to go up against that fear. but the thing is, he never once mentions that, or talks about the danger aspect. instead, I got the distinct vibe from this speech that Death Arms is one of those people who only became a hero because of the limelight. and I just don’t have any patience for that. if all you care about are likes and subscribes then go become a fucking youtuber or some shit. nothing wrong with that! but you didn’t; you signed up to be a hero and protect these people. they gave you their respect and admiration because they trusted you to protect them. and now that they’re no longer in the mood to worship and applaud your every move on account of them being scared shitless because they’re living in the literal end times, you decide to dip. so like okay, fine then. don’t let the door hit you on the way out. anyways lol sorry for the rant.)
anyway so yeah. perfect example of why I don’t exactly have a ton of faith in most of the remaining heroes out there lol. also let me just once again give a shoutout to my best girl Mt. Lady whom I suddenly find myself appreciating all the more
“please calm down makeste. drink some water and enjoy this fresh new jeans pun” listen Horikoshi don’t tell me what to do dammit
Tumblr media
fine. it is a nice pun, I guess
-- damn so now Endeavor’s saying that the media is already being fed info by the retired heroes. so for some of these guys it wasn’t enough for them to abandon all the people they swore to protect and to leave their fellow heroes out in the cold; they decided they might as well actively make things worse for them while they were at it, huh. like I get wanting to spill all the dirty secrets from your old job that you just quit, but this isn’t Jeff Bezos you’re screwing over, this is a sixteen-year-old kid
-- like, yes!! this, right here!!
Tumblr media
exactly!! let’s not forget that there are already two prior instances of this happening. Endeavor arguably deserved it, but Katsuki not so much
huh. Endeavor seems to have a more optimistic outlook regarding this than I do lol
Tumblr media
I mean, this is the same public that didn’t hesitant to blame a kidnapped child for his own kidnapping, and then later on for being the downfall of the Symbol of Peace. but okay then
anyway so blah blah blah, more talk about how they need to use Deku as bait, which basically puts them back at square one, and then they’re all just trailing off into silence and sitting around in the dark lmao this is getting very depressing
SKDJFLSDKJ:LFKJ
Tumblr media
SHOUTO?????
NOOOOOOOO ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Tumblr media
OH HOW THE TURNTABLES OMG. THE GHOSTER HAS BECOME THE GHOSTEE. Endeavor you petty son of a bitch. and what a brutal cut to that flashback too. “let’s stop Touya together” nah Shouto I’ve got a better idea why don’t I abandon you in U.A. and sally off with Hawks and Jeanist to found the “let’s pretend like we’re doing something to help Deku” club, which basically consists of us sitting around making terrible decisions all day long
Shouto, honey. you deserve better my little Coca Cola can. .........but if you really do have something important you need to tell your dad you could just text it to him. all the love and support, hugs and kisses, you’re doing amazing sweetie. but if you need to pass on any vital information you can just write it down and hit send honey that’s all I’m saying love
now he’s getting another call?? -- or, no, Hawks is getting a call from All Might
ARE YOU FOR REAL HAWKS OMFG
Tumblr media
so while you all were sitting around talking about how useless you are, the kid you’re supposed to be protecting was battling another hired gun. I see. please pardon me for one second, I have a phone call to make. the phone call is to RockLockRock and Manual. the reason for the call is to apologize for calling them the worst bodyguards ever back during the War arc. the reason for the apology is because it turns out I WAS SEVERELY MISTAKEN OMFG
JESUS CHRIST DEKU DID YOU JUST KILL THIS MAN LMAO
Tumblr media
shoutout to Horikoshi for offscreening this fight. we get it, lol. Deku strong and scary, villains ineffectual and feeble, and AFO... [checks notes] yep, still a dick. the angst arc continues
-- the angst arc continues, SIR
Tumblr media
jesus christ I may have to rethink all of my opinions about Deku being framed for murder in movie 3 lmao. never mind. he did it, your honor
holy fucking shit Deku. “he might blow up, so please be careful” fdlskjflk jlskdjflk lwkejflk anyway so I’ve decided the explosion running gag can stay, actually
DEKU WAIT YOU FORGOT YOUR LUNCH!!
Tumblr media
lol why do I get the feeling some serious shit is about to go down. ALL MIGHT NEVER MIND BACK OFF I THINK HE NEEDS HIS SPACE
OH MY FUCK I GASPED OUT LOUD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NO NO NO. I KNEW THIS WAS COMING GODDAMMIT BUT NO. NEVER MIND, I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT IT, I’M NOT READY TO CRY TODAY
shit. shit shit shit shit and OF COURSE all I can fucking think about is that stupid fucking prophecy and gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Deku please. please please please if you really are going to leave All Might here, please be so very careful in choosing your farewell words to him now because have this sudden horrible fear that this might be the last time you ever see him alive and oh god. oh god oh god
DEKU NO, YOU’RE REALLY NOT!?!?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE LESS FINE IN MY LIFE, ACTUALLY????
holy shit. and the fucking callback to the prophecy now. just in case we forgot. WHICH FYI, WE DIDN’T. but that’s basically confirming that this is all still very much on the table and HORIKOSHI NEVER FORGETS oh my god someone please hold me
and the fact that Deku’s flashing back to it now too, though?? because he never forgot either, because of course he didn’t, and now all this stuff is happening, and AFO’s words are getting to him, and this is literally his worst fear come to life and so of course he’s distancing himself from everyone, and now it’s finally come to even this. even the person he admires most
-- OKAY NO, FUCKING COME ON ALREADY I CAN’T TAKE THIS
Tumblr media
I GET IT OH MY GOD, I ALREADY UNDERSTAND THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF THIS MOMENT WITHOUT ALL OF THE DEVASTATING FLASHBACKS THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! YOU ACTUALLY DO WANT ME TO CRY, HUH, IS THAT IT. THIS MAN THAT HE THINKS OF AS A FATHER, THIS MAN WHO HAS BEEN EVERYTHING TO HIM SINCE HE WAS A VERY YOUNG CHILD. EVERYTHING THEY’VE BEEN THROUGH, JUXTAPOSED AGAINST EVERYTHING DEKU IS UP AGAINST, EVERYTHING THAT’S AT RISK. LET’S JUST PUT IT ALL SIDE BY SIDE. LET’S JUST PILE ON ALL OF THE FEELS
(ETA: just a quick note that even though some of the posts I’ve read have described these as All Might’s flashbacks, I’m pretty sure they are Deku’s. most of these are scenes that only he was there for, so yeah. even though All Might is the one thinking the thoughts on the next page, the flashbacks are what’s running through Deku’s mind right now, and so we’re getting that emotion from both of them, which makes it extra devastating lol.)
wait, what???
Tumblr media
WHAT??? do you really think that’s why he’s been so determined to protect you this entire time?? simply because you’re his successor?
-- oh no wait lol I think I got that mixed up, this is All Might saying that Deku feels the need to protect him. well that makes more sense lol
oh my god I cannot
Tumblr media
his last words. his last words to him. and we can’t even see if he is smiling, like All Might always encouraged him to do. but what are the odds he can’t actually bring himself to do it. what are the odds he’s actually crying. oh god this scene is going to rip my heart out and STOMP on it in the anime isn’t it. Deku’s VA is going to full on murder me with emotion. not that there’ll be much of me left to murder after the thorough job that Horikoshi has already done here
YOU’RE CRYING. DEKU IS LEAVING ALL MIGHT AND IGNORING HIS OUTSTRETCHED HAND AND YOU’RE CRYING. AND BY “YOU” I MEAN “ME”, FUCK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope nope no words just feels just a big ol’ pile of feels. I do not have the strength. future me... [broadly gestures] good luck with all that
(ETA: LOL, WELL THEN.
what breaks my heart here is All Might. All Might, and everything he’s been through, and history repeating itself, and forcing him to live this moment from both sides because he wasn’t strong enough to fix things.
Toshinori had only just turned eighteen when Nana died. like, I feel like we don’t mention this enough. the All Might we know is a sixty-something-year-old man, and so everyone always talks about him like he’s basically been an adult forever. but he was a child when he met Nana. and he was still just a child when she died. barely a year older than Deku is now. younger than Mirio was when we first met him.
and we don’t talk about that. we don’t talk about how devastating that was for him. and we don’t talk about how the reason he grew up to become so reserved and withdrawn -- for all that he always tried so hard to outwardly project the image of a bold, confident, smiling hero -- was specifically because of what AFO did to him. because AFO targeted him in the exact way that he is now targeting Deku. because that’s what he does. he goes after every new user of OFA, and he finds out what’s most important to them, and then he destroys it. and for Toshinori, that was Nana. if you’ve read All Might Rising, you know that AFO basically killed her in front of him (and only killed her, while letting Toshinori and Gran get away). Toshinori (while crying) later says she was like a mother to him. and interestingly enough, during this same conversation, Gran tells Toshinori that he can see “that madness in [his] eyes” when Toshi talks about becoming strong enough to defeat AFO. madness in his eyes. sound familiar??
what’s happening to Deku now is the exact same thing that happened to Toshinori when he was a boy. AFO tried every bit as hard to break him as he’s trying with Deku now. “the path you’ve chosen is a thorny one. every battle grinds away at your soul with no end in sight.” we don’t talk about how Toshinori experienced this same thing for forty fucking years. and all the while isolating himself, exactly like Deku is doing now. pushing people away, exactly like Deku. because he never had anyone who was able to reach out and pull him back. and those words that he now finds himself frozen and unable to speak -- “don’t push yourself”; “you can rest” -- are the same words that no one ever said to him until decades later, when it was already far too late to make any difference.
everything that Deku is experiencing now is what Toshinori also went through. and it’s only now, as he watches it happen to his student, the boy he loves like a son, that he’s finally starting to realize the full extent of how wrong it was. you shouldn’t have to fight alone. you shouldn’t have to bear that kind of enormous burden alone. you shouldn’t have to push yourself, and you can rest. you can rest.
but it’s too late. just as he’s finally coming to understand it all, it’s all too fucking late. and he can’t say the words, he doesn’t know how to say the words, and then just like that, Deku is gone.
and he’s alone. again.)
Tumblr media
I can’t. this can’t be their goodbye. I’m not ready. for this to be how they finally part, and then they never see each other again except in OFA. how is that fair. how is that fair. how is that fair
fuck me. lol. how many pages are left in this thing. let’s just wrap this up lol. so now of all the times for this fucking guy to finally show up
Tumblr media
I can’t believe Stain has been here literally this entire time hiding behind this random wall and cutting onions. that was you who was cutting the onions, right. no need to answer that we’ll just say it was
HORIKOSHI JUST END THE CHAPTER PLEASE I’M OUT OF SPOONS. YOU HURT ME SO GOOD AND I LOVE YOU FOR IT BUT YOU NEED TO LET ME GO NOW SO I CAN BEGIN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO PUT MY LIFE BACK IN ORDER HERE. SO WHERE ARE WE CUTTING TO NOW WHAT IS HAPPENING
Tumblr media
Stain did you also let AFO give you a new quirk. what’s with you guys. do you like blowing up
oh nvm lol because they were talking about THIS GUY ohhhhhh my fucking god
Tumblr media
THAT’S BECAUSE HE’S SAD, LINDA!! jesus
omfg. and so yes, good, the chapter is ending here now on page 15. for once I am FULLY on board with that lmao
anyway so tune in next week for more adventures of Werewolf Deku!! that is, assuming we don’t finally cut back to U.A. at long last, which is actually a strong possibility considering that this chapter will likely mark the end of volume 31. it sure wouldn’t kill Horikoshi to start giving us some hope after everything he’s just put us through lol. KACCHAN COME GET YA BOY

Swiping into Avengers Tower made you feel important, more so than swiping into a SHIELD base. You weren’t exactly sure why, though. Perhaps it was because SHIELD was a secret, and no one knew. Here, the passerby on the street looked on in awe. Or maybe it was because the Tower was so elite. Because so select few got to enter. But really, it probably wasn’t that you got to enter so much as why you got to enter.
True, since your first day on the job, word got around that you were the best in your field. Fast as lightning, you’d risen through the ranks to be Fury’s top tracker, a position all but secured when he brought you on for this case. A case, you knew, that intrigued you far more than it should have.
Just like everyone else had on that day a little over three months ago, you watched the TV with rapt attention as gods and superheroes made themselves known to the world. And, you supposed, supervillains too. Not that you’d told anyone, but something didn’t quite sit right with you in the weeks after when news anchors and colleagues alike were referring to the raven haired god as such.
For the next three days, you’d pored over books of Norse Mythology and a number of studies. Most of the latter coming from one Dr. Jane Foster, who you soon came to link with Thor. But even there you found a disconnect between the god of legends and the bloodied man on your screen. He never really did have malicious intent before. He was a trickster, yes, but he’d not even come close to doing something this drastic before! Ok, yes, there was his involvement in Ragnarök in the myths, but even for that you’d found multiple sources that could debunk it. Besides, it certainly didn’t seem like Asgard had even faced the end times yet.
Alas, you figured Thor knew his brother, and you had your own case to work on, so you let be the mystery that was Loki.
And then you were called into Fury’s office a week ago and asked to begin tracking the god. A bit too eagerly, you’d agreed to take the case. You’d dealt with villains before, truly evil people, and your search only further proved what deep down you already knew; Loki was not one. Everywhere you followed his trail, a mysterious savior was stopping bank robberies and saving people from burning buildings and runaway trains. Not to mention there were multiple descriptions of said savior using green magic. It seemed a wonder that the tracker in the case before you hadn’t noticed. Then again, people tend to only see what they want to.
Regardless, you made your way to the elevators, heading toward the conference room on one of the upper floors. You tapped your foot as it ascended, impatient to share your findings. As the lift stopped and you got out, you tugged on your leather jacket. It was ever so slightly too big, but it was on sale. Plus, you felt like it looked pretty cool, considering your job and all. Subconsciously, you puffed up your chest a bit too. Regardless of actual size, you felt like a petite little thing, stepping into a room of now renowned heroes. Strange, you thought, how so much could change in just three months.
“You know, I got to get me one of those,” said the man suddenly keeping pace next to you. You quickly identified him as Tony Stark.
“I... Pardon?” you replied, slightly startled.
“Your jacket,” he said, pointing at it. “I feel like the leather will match the whole rugged good-guy, vibe. Besides, I think Capsicle’s got one.”
You chuckled at that. “Maybe we should just make it the team uniform then.”
“Team, huh? So you must be that new tracker kid we’re working with.”
“I’d hardly call myself a kid,” you scoffed.
“When you get to be as rich as I am, you get to call everyone a kid,” Tony shrugged.
“I’m not exactly sure that’s how it works, but whatever you say, I guess,” you chuckled again.
“See, now if everyone would just adopt that mindset, we’d get stuff done a lot faster around here.” He quickly signed something that was brought up to him on a clipboard, never stopping. You wondered how long he could keep up like this before collapsing. “Besides, take it as a compliment. That last tracker was some fuddy-duddy old guy.”
“Fuddy-duddy?” you guffawed. “Maybe you’re the old one, after all.”
Tony feigned like he’d been struck in the heart. But before you could keep up the banter, you reached the conference room, and Steve was waving you inside.
“Stark,” he said with a nod. “Are you ready to begin or are you going to keep distracting our new teammate?”
“Aye aye, Captain,” he said with a little salute. “Reporting for duty.”
You mouthed a sorry as you followed Stark into the room. Even if the rest of them turned out to be hard-asses, at least Tony was fun. And having one ally was better than none, you figured. As you took your seat across from your new friend, you flipped through the file that had been left for you. It wasn’t really anything new, so you glanced at your teammates again. Nat and Clint both nodded at you, recognizing you from a couple other missions you’d interacted during. There wasn’t really any time to talk, however, before Captain Rogers was walking to the head of the long table.
“Alright, team. Before we get started, I think it’s worth mentioning we have a new member on the team,” Steve said, before welcoming you by name. “I think we’re all caught up on the situation here, so let’s dive right in. A new trend has shown up in the Tower’s data mining.”
“Data analysis,” Tony butt in. “It sounds more ethical that way.”
“Whatever you want to call it, the program showed that wherever Loki goes, there’s a spike in activity of an organization calling themselves AIM. At first glance they seem innocent, but after some digging, we’ve found they’re anything but. We’ve determined Loki is working with them, perhaps even masterminding some of their more underground projects. Agent? Can we assume you found the same things?”
“Uh, yeah, no. Actually, my data shows the opposite,” you cleared your throat. Standing, you slid the information from your tablet onto the room’s TV screen. “See, it seems that he’s actually doing good deeds. There are multiple accounts of a man fitting Loki’s description performing heroic works.”
“Ok, I’ll bite,” Tony said, leaning forward. “What about AIM then? You think it’s a coincidence.”
You bit your lip. “I’ll admit, I haven’t found anything about them yet. But... maybe, just maybe, Loki’s showing up where they are because he’s trying to stop them.”
“I am so sorry to interrupt, but that does not sound like the Loki I know at all,” Thor laughed. “A wonderful joke, though.”
Now you were getting mad. You shouldn’t be, but you saw something worth defending in Loki. A lot, actually. There was something about that look in his eye that you couldn’t quite read, but it was telling you something was wrong all the same.
“That’s not fair! Maybe you don’t know him as well as you thought. Look at this,” you said, swiping to show a side by side of Loki during and after the fight. “You can see it by the look on his face; something was seriously wrong during the battle. Plus, I’ve seen videos of him when he first came; he was not alright. Afflicted with severe anxiety and what looks like burn marks, I’d say. He needed help.”
“With all due respect,” Clint chimed in, “aren’t your a tracker, not a psychologist?”
“Yes, but as such I’ve been trained to look at all the details. Not just what’s convenient.”
“Listen,” Steve sighed before things got any more heated. “It’s a great theory and all, but you read Thor’s account of everything that happened before this. So, until we get some solid evidence proving otherwise, we’re going to have to stick with what we already know. We’ll put a pin in the AIM thing until you can take a look, though. Ok?”
“Ok,” you agreed, defeatedly taking your seat again.
You looked around the table. Natasha and Bruce, the only two who hadn’t said anything, both looked kind of pensive. Alright, maybe bewildered was the better word for Bruce. He was smart, no doubt about it, but you got the impression he wasn’t very good in social settings. Then there was Clint and Thor, both who seemed a little skeptical of you. At least Thor seemed to be considering his brother’s innocence at least a little. Steve was a bit more unreadable as he continued to prattle on about what you already “knew” for the case. And then there was Tony, who seemed more impressed than anything else. He, at least, had seemed to genuinely consider what you said. Perhaps he still was.
“The best way to solve this,” Steve closed his spiel, “is to bring him in. Agent, have you located him yet?”
You sighed. Deeply. It shouldn’t be this much of a struggle to present your findings. You’d had no trouble speaking on his behalf. Yet a part of you—an alarmingly large part, you realized—didn’t want to turn him in. But who were you to ignore direct orders?
“Yup,” you conceded, pulling up a map with a blinking red dot, marking Loki’s location.
“Well then, team,” Steve said to the group. “Let’s roll out.”

I decided to reread the MHA LN Chapter 4, you know, the canon bkdk angsty slow-burn fanfic 😌😌 Spreading the BKDK LN agenda because WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS MORE !!
Anyway, I FOUND ANOTHER TRANSLATION but sadly OP haven't finished it yet 😢
And since I need an emotional outlet so I can scream at how they're so canon, Im'ma do it here ahwjdhfjsh 👀✨
Warning: Long post; potential manga spoilers
Tumblr media
– I forgot that this chapter literally started with the angst 😭 Deku saying that he can't imagine having lunch with Kacchan is like a pain in the gut. He just wanna be friends with his Kacchan again 😢
Tumblr media
– One word, ✨SOULMATES ✨ afshshahah PLS, even the universe can't help but ship them together 😩✋ they're fruityness is on whole a new level I CAN'T 💚🧡
Tumblr media
– I see what you're doing Bakugou 👀 You really can't leave your sweet broccoli behind huh?? Also, crybaby Macchan and aggressive Takkun?? 🤔 Do I need to say more? 🧐
Tumblr media
– If that's not flirting then idk what is 🤷 also, "In front of my soba? Really?" (Todoroki, probably)
– There's no ss but I just wanna give a special mention to jealous!Bakugou. No cos srsly, implying you're not friends with Deku as if you're not dying to hold his hand then getting irritated over Todoroki claiming the "friend" card 😩 Just, Bakugou, don't @ me ☺️💢
Tumblr media
– The angst had reached full force it seems ಥ‿ಥ The line was cut but it actually says "Not friends, just childhood friends" 😭😭 and I am telling you Im'ma throw my brand new book when Bakugou explicitly acknowledges Midoriya as his boyfriend. Because before they were rivals, Bakugou and Midoriya were first friends. And I'm not saying that they aren't one now because we as readers, can definitely see they care for each other. But the question is, do they already see the other as a friend and not just a mere rival? They don't cos they're boyfriends your honor
Tumblr media
– Tbh, It still haven't sinked in that this is kind of canon 🤧 This is such a cliched romantic scene like wtf?? So what's next? The full moon is illuminating half of Bakugou's face, red eyes glowing and face soft from the natural white luminescence or something sappy like that?? 😩😩 I love it
Tumblr media
– Izuku in this LN chapter whenever he talks about Bkg: ✨ THEIR RELATIONSHIP ✨
– I know, I get it. You don't have to shove it my face every single time Deku 😌 and pls, why are you still flirting at the middle of the night?? Or was it pining that I see 🤔 i mean comparing each other to their kid parallels 😕 hmm a severe case of mutual pining indeed
Tumblr media
– Yes yes, of course you're only looking for food stalls Mr. Bakugou "Tsundere" Katsuki, I completely don't believe that you're worried about the kids. No! of course not! Who says you want the kids to reconcile so they wouldn't experience the pain that you and a certain green had gone through?? Hahaha I mean It's not like they're your parallel what??hmmm no no, go on, look for takoyaki or smthn ☺️☺️
– Wait, did the last part say '"Bakugou grabbed Izuku's face and pushed it away..." Aksfksjdhdisjs what in the actual gay fanfic is this??!! Or wait, is this what Bkg usually do to Deku in the official art he's like, I love agressively gripping your head as I entangle my fingers on your soft curls but no homo💀
Since OP's translation isn't complete, I'm going to use Lau Ren's translation and yes I'm continuing this shit even though Tumblr mobile only lets me post 10 pics per post
Tumblr media
– Bkdk domesticity with children pt. 95736 💚🧡 They love kids so much 😩 Yk I'd donate my kidney just to see this ANIMATED ✨ like this has so much fluff potential 🤧 Or at the very least a drama CD. I'd ascend 😭
Tumblr media
– WHAT THE FUDGE ?!! I'M SCREAMING 😭 I SAY IT AGAIN 💞 SOULMATES✨ and pls, it has my favorite fic trope, Bakugou Katsuki is Bad at Feelings. Anyway, I need a minute to collect myself cos I can't move past the "With the said person himself nearby, Kacchan thought his fate had gone crazy" ( ≧Д≦) dammit Katsuki, why r u so gay. Izuku loves you, you emotionally constipated gremlin
I have reached my 10 picture limit so I'm just gonna copy paste some of the twts 💀 I hope I don't get in trouble lmao Xd
- Kacchan fixed his gaze to Deku who looked relieved. "He..."
- Somehow, Kacchan remembered the fight they had after All Might's retirement. It was the first time they were able to let out their conflicts sincerely. Although his fear towards Deku had decreased since then, there was still a feeling of disgust about Deku being a hero who save others residing in Kacchan.
- He couldn't understand it. But he knew, there will always a being whom he cannot understand
– Bkg rlly said 👀 on Deku while having angsty thoughts ಥ╭╮ಥ Looking back on this tho, I just can't help but be proud when I remember 285. Bakugou is loud but he is very rational in battles. He thinks of a plan on the spot meaning he's mind is on work 24/7.
– When he had his "My body just moved on its own" moment, Katsuki had understood Deku and his nature to "Save to Win." It'ss that Katsuki must not analyze it with his brain, but instead feel it with his heart 💚🧡 And this is the reason why I badly want to see him on the manga 😭 that was some MAJOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT I'm ahwjdhfjsh
– Takkun and Maachan's pinky swear deserves their own mention. They're so pure 😩✋
- He said he still hasn't done hatsumoude so Kacchan can go first, but Kacchan refused and wouldn't let Deku do hatsumoude before him.
- Kacchan tried to take a head start, but in the end, they ended up visiting and praying together.
– AND WE'RE BACK with the gays 😌 hsjdjajs they compete with every single thing it's honestly cute. Also YES THEY PRAYED TOGETHER and shoujo scenes with the main couple praying on the shrine but make it BKDK flashed before my eyes 😖✨
- After finishing their prayers, Deku looked at Kacchan, "What did you wish for?" "Shut up."
- Even with Kacchan's sulking expression seen from the side, Deku felt that they had wished for the same thing.
– DEKU YOU'RE BEING TOO LOUD!! I just can't with these two 😩✋ Both of them are down so bad for each other and you can't tell me otherwise 💚✨🧡
- With those serious eyes, Deku knew they were aiming for the same thing. Win to save, save to win. To be the best heroes.
- Deku knew well that he and Kacchan are polar opposites. But even so, Deku couldn't imagine a world in which Kacchan doesn't exist.
– Deku just went 😍 on Kacchan and thought "I CAN'T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT YOU 🧡💚" (insert Imagine by Ben Platt)
– I can't even stress how much I love this line, y'all this is so misleading I-- this is too much 😭 Anyway, I believe this go both ways. Bakugou can't also see a world without Deku in it, and since Deku decided to be the self-sacrificing person he is, I'll just SCREAM IN CH. 304 ( ≧Д≦)
- Seeing the two praying side by side, he commented, "so you've become good friends now, huh."
- Both of them immediately opposed, and Kacchan threatened to explode Shoto's mouth for saying such a disgusting thing.
– Let's go Todoroki, best wingman 🤣 And flustered Bakugou makes a reappearance hdjsja Dammit half n' half I ain't flirting with Deku fvck you
And this is where it ends afshshaha anyway bkdk canon 💚🧡

Nasty Plot
Tumblr media
[STORY SOURCE]
Does anyone remember that old Celebi event from 2011, released around the end of February?
There wasn't really anything notable about the Celebi itself, it wasn't shiny or anything, and its moveset really wasn't all that notable or special... Well, except for that ONE move.
When you put it on your HeartGold/SoulSilver game, it triggered some sort of in-game event that I had no idea how to access. Nobody ever told me what I was supposed to do, but I had no idea that it'd be anything like THIS.
It all started after I eagerly rushed in and out of GameStop to receive my adorable Celebi. It was one of my favorite Pokémon, and I was ready to play with it as soon as I got home.
When I started up my game, I gasped when I didn't see it in my party. I panicked for a moment, until I remembered I just had to go to the Pokémart to get it, and was relieved. I happily hummed to myself as I ran to the Goldenrod City's huge Pokémart place.
Tumblr media
I talked to the delivery man. I didn't even pay attention to what he said and just skipped through all of his text.
Tumblr media
Once all was said and done, I opened up my party. I went into a squealing fit when I saw Celebi sitting at the bottom.
I switched my new Celebi to the front of my party and then exited out of the menu. I ran out of the store and immediately turned around and talked to it.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI seems to be feeling great about walking with you!”
I talked to it again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”Woah! CELEBI suddenly hugged you!”
I squealed as I read that text. My Celebi already loved me!
Tumblr media
I raced out of the town and went into the tall grass. I ran into a wild Drowzee.
"Psh, that's easy to beat..." I whispered to myself.
Tumblr media
I selected fight and looked at Celebi's moveset. Leaf Storm, Recover, Nasty Plot, and Healing Wish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I clicked on Leaf Storm. Leaves started swirling onto the screen, and knocked out the Drowzee in one hit. Celebi's Special Attack lowered afterwards. The battle ended.
Tumblr media
I opened the menu and looked at Celebi's summary. I clicked on its moves. I then realized that Leaf Storm was the only move that did any damage, and it only had 5 PP. I decided that I wouldn't use Celebi for battle much, but I still wanted to play with it.
I took a moment to think about what I could do with it that didn't involve battling.
Tumblr media
Then an idea hit me, "Pokéathlon!" I shouted out loud to myself. I ran to the Pokéathlon Dome and entered the Speed contest.
Tumblr media
Celebi, Yam Yams the Yanma, and Dune the Dunsparce practically owned the entire competition.
I entered the contest again. When I next checked the clock I realized I had been playing the game for an hour already. I decided that maybe I should take a break.
Tumblr media
Just as I was about to turn off the game though, I received a call from the Daycare Man. He had an egg for me.
I remembered that I had a Ditto and Eevee in the Daycare that I had forgotten about, so I raced back to Goldenrod City and went to the Pokémon Center.
Tumblr media
I put all of my party Pokémon in the PC except for Celebi, just in case I wanted to hatch more than one egg.
Tumblr media
Once I was done, I went to the Daycare Man. After hurriedly skipping through his lines of text, he handed me my egg.
"Alright, now we just gotta hatch it!" I told my Celebi, despite the fact that I was speaking to an inanimate object. I ran in circles for several minutes, then into Goldenrod, then back out.
Tumblr media
I clicked on the egg's summary and sighed. This was going to take a lot longer than I originally thought.
I decided I would randomly battle a Pokémon for the heck of it. I ran into the tall grass and another wild Drowzee appeared.
Tumblr media
I clicked on fight. I was about to select Leaf Storm, but I decided I would try out Nasty Plot just for the heck of it. I selected the move.
Tumblr media
Puffs of smoke and questions marks appeared around Celebi. Then a hand pointing upwards popped above its head. Its Special Attack rose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drowzee tried to use Hypnosis, but it missed.
Tumblr media
I selected Nasty Plot again for no reason. The smoke and question marks appeared once more, then the hand. Drowzee used Hypnosis again, but missed.
Tumblr media
I used Nasty Plot one more time, just because I could. Same animation as before. Drowzee still attacked and missed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used Leaf Storm this time around. The Drowzee fell with no problem. Celebi gained its boosted experience, and the battle ended.
Not thinking anything of the battle, I went straight back to walking around to hatch my egg.
Tumblr media
I walked over to the Daycare Man and noticed that he had another egg for me. I talked to him and skipped through his text like usual and received my egg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As soon as I got my egg, an exclamation point appeared above Celebi's head. It nudged my trainer. She turned around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My trainer turned south and stared down the route. Celebi slowly inched towards my character, then quickly retreated. Nothing happened for a minute. Then I realized I was in control now.
"Well, that was weird..." I muttered to myself.
I talked to Celebi again.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI is a picture of innocence!”
I didn't really understand what that meant.
Tumblr media
I opened the menu and clicked on my party. Instead of two eggs like I was expecting, there was only one.
"Where's my other egg..?" I thought.
Tumblr media
I exited the menu and talked to the Daycare Man to see if there was some mistake of some kind. He informed me that my Pokémon were doing just fine, and that they didn't seem to like each other. I pouted.
I turned around and talked to Celebi again, to see if maybe it could help me.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI is a picture of innocence!”
That information didn't help me much.
I sighed and gave up. I couldn't think of anything else that could help me get my egg back. I decided I would just run around and try to hatch the one egg I did have.
After a couple of minutes of running in circles I got another call from the Daycare Man. He said he had another egg for me. I was already standing by him, so I walked a few steps and spoke to him. He said the usual, then gave me my egg.
Tumblr media
As soon as I received it though, an exclamation point appeared above Celebi's head. It nudged me the same way it did last time. My trainer turned to it, saying that Celebi pointed to something in the distance.
Tumblr media
My trainer turned down the path again, and Celebi slowly inched towards her, and then I was in control again.
Tumblr media
I immediately went to my party. Again there was only Celebi and one egg.
"What keeps happening to my other egg..?" I asked to myself, which lead to nothing. I exited out of the menu and talked to Celebi.
Tumblr media
The same text appeared as before. I scowled, and talked to it again. "CELEBI is a picture of innocence!" Again, "CELEBI is a picture of innocence!" No matter how many times I talked it kept saying the same thing over and over again.
I really didn't know how to react. I was a little creeped out, but not much. I decided it would be best to just shrug it off and keep playing. I started running around a bit more, not really knowing what else to do.
After a single minute I got very bored, and talked to my Celebi again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”CELEBI is thinking.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”CELEBI got an idea!”
I waited to see what it would do, but nothing happened.
Tumblr media
I checked on my egg to see how close it was to hatching. It was turning out to hatch a lot sooner than I had expected. I exited out of the menu and took a step.
Tumblr media
"Oh?" The textbox appeared.
Tumblr media
It took me to the scene where my egg hatches. I squealed as I waited for my new baby Eevee to hatch. It cracked, cracked, popped open...
Tumblr media
“Nothing hatched from the Egg!”
Nothing was in the egg.
"Hey, what gives?!" I yelled at my DS as the screen started to fade away.
Tumblr media
Once it was back at the overworld, I looked at my party. There was only Celebi. I exited and talked to Celebi.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI is a picture of innocence!”
I glared at it, wishing that it would fess up and admit it had done something. I kept talking to it over and over, but this time it kept saying the same thing over and over.
I eventually gave up. I ran into Goldenrod and went into the Pokémon Center. I went inside and talked to it one last time.
Tumblr media
”Huh? CELEBI is holding something...”
Tumblr media
“Would you like to take it?”
Tumblr media
I was a bit shocked, and clicked yes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”Oh! It seems just too important to let go!”
I scowled and went to the PC.
Tumblr media
I put Celebi in and replaced it with my female Umbreon, Angel.
Tumblr media
I left the Pokémon Center and went to the Pokéathlon Dome. I thought that maybe if I played there for a while and left Celebi alone for a bit, then it might go back to normal. I entered a couple of contests, but failed at most of them. I couldn't focus straight.
After playing for only about thirty minutes, which isn't long for me, I decided I wanted to pick up the rest of my team and proceed with the game's story.
Tumblr media
When I went into the PC, I gasped. None of my Pokémon were in there.
Except for Celebi.
Tumblr media
I selected Celebi and put it in the first of my party.
Tumblr media
I was on the verge of just releasing Celebi, but before I could consider it, I realized that Celebi was holding an item, which it was suspiciously hiding behind its back, no doubt.
"Stake..? What the heck?!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
”Stake can’t be taken away.”
I tried taking it away to investigate, but it didn't work.
I was now completely confused at everything that was going on. I scowled and exited the menu. I talked to Celebi one last time.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI is a picture of innocence!”
I highly doubted that.
Tumblr media
I walked out of the Pokéathlon Dome. Not long after I had taken a couple of steps I got a call. It was from Joey. He talked about his top percentage Rattata, as usual.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI wants to meet Joey!”
Tumblr media
When he was done talking, Celebi nudged my trainer and prompted this text, along with a Yes/No option. I selected no and continued walking. I was still pretty fed up at Celebi having gotten rid of all my Pokémon, and I wasn't about to cater to its requests.
Tumblr media
But after a few more steps Celebi nudged my trainer again. I selected no once more, then walked a few more steps.
Tumblr media
But I was stopped again. I sighed and selected yes. I didn't really have much left to lose anyways.
Tumblr media
My trainer started to spin like when you use an escape rope. She teleported in front of Joey. He started talking to my trainer without me pressing anything. I wasn't given a yes or no option.
Tumblr media
Instead Celebi snuck up behind Joey, then quickly flew back to my trainer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was then given a yes or no option. I selected yes, thinking it was the best answer.
Tumblr media
The battle started. Joey threw out a Pokéball.
Tumblr media
“Youngster Joey sent out nothing!”
But instead of his prized Rattata coming out, nothing appeared on the screen.
Tumblr media
My trainer threw Celebi out.
Tumblr media
Before I could select anything, Joey's sprite moved back onscreen.
“My RATTATA! Where is it?!”
The battle then slowly faded to black.
Tumblr media
Once it got back to the overworld, Joey spoke.
“My RATTATA... It’s gone...!!”
Joey's sprite started moving around, as if he was searching for his lost Pokémon. I immediately turned to Celebi.
Tumblr media
”CELEBI is a picture of innocence!”
I was getting really annoyed at this Celebi, even more than I already was.
Tumblr media
Celebi suddenly flew away from my trainer. I was wondering what it ran away for.
Tumblr media
That was when I noticed the POKÉDEX, trainer card, BAG, and POKÉGEAR options in the menu were missing.
Tumblr media
I growled out loud and started to chase after Celebi. It was waiting for me just off screen. As soon as it saw me though, it started to fly away. I chased it in circles for several minutes, but it was always much faster than my trainer.
Tumblr media
I eventually just stopped.
Tumblr media
After a few moments, Celebi floated back over to my trainer. I talked to it again, but the only thing I got out of it was the urge to strangle that legendary so badly right then.
Tumblr media
I opened the menu and looked at my party. Angel was missing.
"Alright, that's the last straw..!!" I gripped my DS so tight I nearly broke it in two. I exited out of the menu and thought about what to do for a moment. That was when one of the biggest light bulbs ever went off in my head.
I turned my DS off.
I hadn't saved the game since I had received Celebi from the delivery man, which I was very thankful for now. I sighed in relief, thankful for it all to be over.
I turned my DS back on. When I got to the menu, I selected "Continue".
Tumblr media
When it had finished loading though, my trainer was standing in the middle of virtually nothing. Everything was black.
Before I could react properly, Celebi floated up to my trainer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I talked to it, prompting its now signature catchphrase. A heart icon appeared above its head.
Tumblr media
Then it quickly floated away, and my game froze. I tried moving, pressing every button, but nothing would work. I turned my DS off, hoping that my save file would work this time around. When the title screen loaded back up, I pressed start.
Tumblr media
”The save file will be erased due to corruption or damage.”
I threw my DS to the side and screamed into my pillow. I wildly thrashed my arms and legs about like a possessed child.
Once I had finished letting my anger out, and my throat had become sore from too much screaming, I sat up. Tears began streaming down my face. I sat there and cried my heart out.
Tumblr media
After several minutes, I had stopped crying. Although still sniffling, I grabbed my DS. I went back to the menu and selected, "New Game".
Tumblr media
When it loaded, I was shocked to see that I was in Goldenrod City, with Angel right behind me.
As soon as I took one step, I got a call from the Daycare Man. He said he had an egg for me.
Tumblr media
I ran to the Daycare. I talked to the Daycare Man, slowly going through his text this time, and I received my egg. Afterwards, I opened my party to look at my egg, just to make sure it was still there.
Tumblr media
When I opened my party, I breathed a sigh of relief. My game was back to normal, and I could finally hatch my long-awaited Eevee.
Maybe it's just because I had gone through so much emotional torture just to obtain it, but I had a really good feeling about this egg.
Whatever this Eevee was when it hatched, I vowed to cherish it.
Tumblr media
After running around for several minutes, my eyes sparkled with hope as it prepared to hatch.
Tumblr media
But I was met with a horrifying wake up call...
Tumblr media
“CELEBI hatched from the Egg!”
"No... Nooo!!!"
Tumblr media
I scowled to see that familiar face next to me in the overworld. I checked my party, and Angel was gone yet again.
I spoke to the little devil just to see what it had to say for itself, and it replied with one simple thing...
Tumblr media
“CELEBI is a picture of innocence!”

Venti’s a Superhero (GN)
Tumblr media
1) You’re in law enforcement
The two of you have a pretty typical hero-officer relationship. He catches the supervillains, you cart them off to prison. It’s not a big deal and you don’t think much of it.
Or, rather, you wouldn’t if your co-workers would just leave things be. However, they keep pushing you to be the one to interact with him. Something about him liking to work with you specifically, which is ridiculous.
Sure he does flirt with you and drops the cheesiest pick up lines ever. And sure, he does smile a lot when you’re around. But it’s not like he’s serious about it, right? He jokes around by flirting with villains after all, so how do you know this isn’t a joke too?
It’s honestly kind of hard on you because you’ve found yourself falling for him. Who wouldn’t, honestly? He’s strong, charming, and just a really nice guy. It has nothing to do with the way he laughs at your stupid jokes or protected you fiercly the couple of times you were specifically targeted in an attack.
But when he shows up in front of the police station with a ukelele and sings you a cheesy love song he apparently wrote himself, you have to face the truth. He does, in fact, actually like you. The flirting was playful, not pretended. The cute superhero guy actually likes you back.
It’s kind of overwhelming honestly. So when he asks you on a date right after you’re kind of speechless. His face falls when you apparently take too long to respond and you have to chase after him as he walks away, dejected, to reassure him that yes, you’d love to go on a date with him.
“Why did you decide to wear your superhero costume on our date again?” You ask him, hyper aware of all the stares that the two of you are getting. The press are at the cafe doors, only kept out by threat of legal action from the owner of the establishment. Thank goodness they’re apparently a big fan of Venti and the work he does. Also, Venti is apparently a regular here. Who knew?
He takes a sip of his dandelion tea and glances out at the press nervously. “Well, I guess I’m just worried about doing an identity reveal for our first date. I was thinking maybe third or something.” You blink and a smile spreads across your face. “Oh? So you want there to be a third date before our first date is even over?” You tease him. His face flushes red. “Yeah,” he admits. “I can’t picture myself with anyone else. I’ve fallen for you and I can’t get up.”
2) You’re a journalist
You have always loved superheroes. They’re just so cool! Someone with a secret identity working a double life to serve and save the people around them? How awesome is that! And so when you move to Mondstadt and found out that they have their very own superhero, Barbatos, you are absolutely thrilled!
And, even better, your boss knows about your love of superheroes and assigns you to be the journalist representing the company on superhero related matters- including Barbatos!
So you take to your new task with gusto! This is exactly why you became a journalist! You will get all the best scoops and make your company proud. And if this involves showing up at all his fights and following him on patrol, well, that’s just doing your job, right?
Meanwhile, Venti, or Barbatos, is starting to be seriously concerned about your mental and physical health. Are you obsessed? Is this hyperfixation unhealthy for you? Are you overworking yourself? What if you get hurt from one of his fights? What is he supposed to do in this situation?
In the end, he decides to take a minute to talk to you about it during his regular patrol. He’s relieved to find out that yes, you are okay, and that you’re really just a super big fan. Eventually talking to you becomes a habit.
As time passes, you start putting less and less private details into your articles and stick to more public knowledge and juicy bits you get from battles and about villains. The stuff he tells you on patrol stays with you as the two of you get to know each other better. Soon you’re good friends, and maybe are edging into more.
It was a night almost like any other, except for how it wasn’t. This time he’d picked you up, bridal style, and flew both of you up onto a rooftop. Now the two of you are taking a well deserved rest stargazing together. “And there’s sagittarius,” you point to a constellation in the sky. You were fascinated with stars a couple years ago and had a wealth of information you could share with him.
“Sagittarius, huh?” He murmured. “Right there?” Now he was pointing at it too.
“Not quite,” you reply. You wrap a hand around the hand he’s pointing with and adjust it’s direction. “Right there.”
When you don’t get a response, you turn and look at him, only to find him as red as the apples he loves so much. It seems to get even worse when he notices you looking and he stutters a bit before he is finally able to spit out what he’s been trying to say for weeks.
“I really, really like you.”
3) You’re a fellow superhero
You are a superhero called Torque who has total control over cars. Your weapon arsenal consists of fifteen different toy cars that you can shrink and grow at will and use to knock villains off their feet. Sure they have more tricks to them, but you can’t give all your secrets away, can you?
Your specialty is evacuation, but you’re also good at keeping supervillains on their toes. Getting run over by cars doesn’t tend to be fun. So you can distract them from the other hero they are fighting. Because of this you make excellent back up and are often on call.
He is better in combat situations because of his aerokinesis. His abilities make him great for emergency response because he can get to the fights quickly and take immediate, safe action. The level of control he has makes him incredibly versatile too.
The two of you end up working together very often. He will show up early with you coming in not too long after. You will take over evacuation and protecting the citizens, allowing him to completely focus on the villain. As soon as you’re done evacuating, you join in the frey.
Your teamwork is legendary among the hero community and you’re a very popular duo in the eyes of the citizens. Famous for prioritizing civilian safety and quick takedowns, you’re effective and efficient. So far as most anyone knows, you’re just good friends, despite 80% of your fanbase shipping you.
In reality though, you’re already married. It’s a secret because you don’t want your identities to be compromised and your different relationship levels in and out of costume add another layer of safety to your disguises. If they knew, though, they would love how domestic the two of you are at home.
You slip into your home through the window. A relieved sigh escapes your lips as you close the window behind you, only for you to nearly shriek as someone suddenly wraps their arms around your waist and blows in your ear. Venti laughs from behind you. “Ehe, you’re always so fun to surprise.”
He smiles into your shoulder and holds you unusually close. The smile seems a little strained. “Today was close, are you okay?” He asks you. Oh. He’s talking about how you almost got hit today. Usually you’re fast enough to avoid hits like that, but you got distracted while evacuating and almost didn’t see it coming. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, so be more careful, okay?”
4) You’re a hostage he saves
The two of you know nothing about each other at the time. You’re a regular citizen of Mondstadt who was going about their business as normal until you got kidnapped.
It all went so fast. One moment you were walking down the street, the next you were being held hostage with a knife to your throat. While you’re terrified, he rescues you as quickly as the villain got you.
There’s just something special about being saved by a superhero. As someone who had been crushing on him for a while even before being rescued, it was all a bit too much for you to comprehend.
He happens to have just the biggest crush on you out of costume, not that he ever planned to tell you. But there was something special about being able to save you, being your hero.
If either of you thought your crush couldn’t get worse, you were dead wrong. The media is all over it, spinning dramatic love stories about how he’d apparently been especially careful with you and you’d given him the look.
You start following news about him more frequently and he keeps a special eye on you the times he happens to spot you on patrol. Daydreams about each other are more common now and your mutual pining reaches new levels.
You hear a sharp rap as something hits your window. It continues for a couple time before you get curious enough to check out what’s going on. Apparently someone’s been throwing rocks at your window. Opening the window, you peer down to see who’s there and nearly get hit in the face. Thankfully, Barbatos catches the rock before it hits you.
“Whoops, sorry,” he apologizes. “I didn’t mean to almost hit you. I was just trying to get your attention.” He pulls a bouquet of flowers from behind his back, cecilias. “I got this for you! Hopefully you like it as much as I like you!” The blush dusting his cheeks has nothing on the warmth that covers your face. Are you sure you are not dreaming?

Let's talk about Kazuto Arase
Tumblr media
Yakuza / Yakuza Kiwami , Yakuza 3 side content spoilers. Later on Yakuza LaD too, but I'll give a warning before that especially since a lot of people haven't played that yet.
So I have a lot of thoughts about Yakuza on my mind and just want to scream into the void about it somewhere to write 'em all down somewhere! I'm starting with... Arase.
Yeah, I know, a mostly very hated character (personality and battle-wise) that has so little screen time on top of it all too, is the first thing I'll be talking about.
Hear me out, I actually really love this character and only really started to appreciate him after I went for the Yakuza 3 platinum trophy... I've replayed this game so many times, I didn't mind it when I played through it first but seeing all the hate it has gotten, I went to replay it just in case and with that replayed it again and again because I just somehow loved it so much-
And you know, one part of Yakuza 3, also completion related so there was no way I could've missed it, were the Hitman missions. In general, after playing through all the main games I started to come back to a lot of characters I didn't like or minded the first time playing that are now some of my favourites (other examples are Tamashiro or Lau Ka Long, hell even Katsuragi)!
To come back to Arase, let's start with, well, the start: Yakuza / Yakuza Kiwami.
Introduced already in the very first Yakuza game, Arase is just there for a brief moment in the game, yet has a heavy impact on the game's story and Kiryu. It starts with Arase's oath brother Shinji being shot by Arases subordinate, Mochizuki, at least it looks like it. Shinji came here to rescue Reina, whose corpse then gets dragged on the roof of the Dragon Palace by Arase, Sergeant of the Nishikiyama Family. Now that's a pretty... heavy and sadistic first image for a character introduction, and honestly, his strong personality like that seemed also to be the reason he wasn't exactly loved by other members of the Family.
Tumblr media
His battle theme in the first Yakuza game is called "Turning Point" which also puts more emphasis on how important this scene is, Kiryu breaking down, his scream when he sees Reina's body... It's really a turning point in the story.
In Kiwami, his new theme "Virtical Point" is also used as the intro song (or at least, the intro song "Vertical Point" is similar and shortened). Which also once again shows the importance of this piece.
Of course, he's not the most important character in the story, but it's still interesting to see how much there is around him other than his rather short appearance.
Then, his fighting style. Yeah, most hate this too and also the fact that starting from there, other bosses also sometimes use his moveset or a similar one. Like, take Jiro or Jo Amon or Andre Richardson... Basically just the usual dual wielding guns while being an athlete on crack - layout. It is actually not that bad, it's even less bad when you've got the right equipment but I have to admit I didn't really have that much good equipment when I first played all the games and basically just rushed through them because I just couldn't stop!
Arase's goal here of course was also to beat Kiryu but well, just like every other character ever, he couldn't do it and got beat instead.
And that's the end of that... The end of his part in the story and also the end of his part in the Nishikiyama Family, because he got disowned right after his failure.
Which is so... hmm... It makes me think. Many others have tried to take Kiryu down, too. And I mean, Arase was normally a very successful assassin, right? Yet this one failed attempt, at which everyone else too failed, got him disowned? Seems to me like they didn't like him and gave him an impossible task to have a reason to throw him out, huh?
Tumblr media
And with that wonderful transition, let's get into his appearance in Yakuza 3.
You get introduced to the concept of the Honest Living Association, in short the HLA pretty much after Kashiwagis death. An association, founded by Kashiwagi to help Yakuza / former Yakuza who weren't meant for this life or just wanted out but just couldn't do in it on their own. For some, all they knew was the criminal life, so having a thing like this is especially helpful. Although, I'm kinda sad this was never a thing anymore after Yakuza 3. The whole concept of it was very cool.
Kiryu gets asked by Ibuki to help the HLA because there is an organisation of hitmen, also known as The Reapers (or The Avengers on PS3) whose goal was a different one than the HLA's, it was to kill Yakuza. The Reapers consisted of former criminals, mainly Yakuza, who were wronged by their superiours and expelled, disowned, you name it. Basically what happened to Arase.
Apprehending those hitmen is a totally optional part of the game and I have to admit, I didn't finish it my first time playing. Which is such a shame because it goes by so fast too when you play it after finishing the game! And the individual stories are all so interesting too, I've really enjoyed this side content and also replayed those missions already. You don't really expect someone like Arase to be behind all of it when it turns out to be him who is the founder and the leader of it all. I was already taken aback by Shinzaki being the lieutenant, or part of it at all. I often stopped by to listen to his guitar playing and talked to him, often asking myself is there's anything else up with him.
And once this one hitman contract came in and guitar playing was mentioned, I was just thinking "It can't be him...?", god, this whole side storyline just was so good. And here people come and say Yakuza 3 was a bad game.
The whole build-up to then reveal Arase was just so cool, honestly. It made me start to look more into his character after this confrontation. The fight was really cool too, just having to fight Shinzaki so many times wasn't really necessary, but Arase seems to like to fight alongside others, so fair enough.
And his theme "End Point" is also just so good. It's more similar to Turning Point than Virtical Point was. The name is also again fitting, since this is the end for The Reapers and Arases power.
It is made clear here that Arase has a strong hatred against the Yakuza and especially holds a strong grudge against Kiryu. He sees Kiryu as the reason he got wronged and had to leave the Yakuza behind, while also seeming to be very aware of the fact that the others there probably didn't like him at all.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
He's so angry at him, he holds this whole speech and talks about revenge while Kiryu tries to talk some sense into him, eventually Ibuki also joins and tries to reason with Arase too. Telling him how that's what Kashiwagi wanted, even for Arase to find a new, honest life.
Arase is too strongly lead on by his grudges, so even though it seems like he might be thinking about turning his life around, he decided to not let them help him. Then he goes on about how he will definetly return to take revenge on Kiryu... Well. That's the end of that.
It becomes clear that Arases stubborn way of thinking is kind of childish. Not taking responsibility for any of his actions, thinking that his vile personality and actions are in fact the reason he got disowned. Failing to beat Kiryu was just the final puzzle piece to have a solid reason to throw him out. He's clearly unstable, doesn't think twice before shooting someone, he could turn on anyone and wouldn't be sorry for it. Just, he doesn't seem to really think about what he does.
Tumblr media
I guess he probably thinks he's strong enough, he doesn't need to be careful. Also fitting for that is his fighting style in Dead Souls, how when he gets low on HP, he pretty much fends for himself, disregarding orders and just charging head first with full strength.
His Dead Souls appearance is also interesting. Okay, we all know, this game isn't canon, it's a spin-off and just doesn't fit in to the story. But it is interesting how he teams up with Kiryu for a bit and then leaves again. The game itself takes place after the events of Yakuza 4, meaning at this point RGG did remember that hey, they have a rival that swore to beat Kiryu one day. But after that... radio silence.
Really, this is such a shame. Just alone from his short appearances I can talk so much about Arase because he really is an interesting character with so much more potential! The only thing that's good about it is that he didn't die, making him technically one of the longest surviving characters in Yakuza which really is a great achievement.
Okay, we don't exactly know that he's still alive, but assuming due to there not being a mention of him being dead, he's probably alive. He might be, might not. Schrödinger's Arase.
Tumblr media
One other thing I thought about is Jo Amon. I mean, his outfit and fight style is also similar to Arase, but that's not what I'm mainly thinking about. So the name Amon is for the greatest assassins, right? And they have a strong hatred against Kiryu at the beginning too.
So, putting those things together, Arase being a former assassin in the Nishikiyama Family, then the leader of a dangerous hitman organisation... Then, to fight Jo Amon in Yakuza 3 you also need to do all the hitman missions other than the substories and the IF7 fights. And to start the search for Amon, you also need to go to Ibuki again, where you got all the other hitman missions.
Yeah, it's a bit far fetched, but ... not too far fetched to think that maybe Arase and at least Jo Amon could know each other. I'd say, they could team up in a future game but. Well... Yeah.
Now some more things I thought about, I'll put a warning here though.
Yakuza LaD spoilers ahead!
Soooo, in this game we've gotten a couple of characters "back" ... Some more real than others... Thinking about Joon Gi's body double.
But one character that survived is Kashiwagi! Now the bartender of a bar named Survive. What a fitting name. After surviving such a heavy attack and believed dead by, well, everyone, it was the best approach to keep a low profile, start a new life. Also, he doesn't seem to be fit for any fighting after the incident.
So Kashiwagi is still there. And, now I just thought about, what if there was a possible redemption arc for Arase? Kiryu is believed dead now too, alone the fact that it seems that Kiryu never met Kashiwagi while being in the same area is kinda sad. I like to imagine they met each other...
I think it could go either way, Arase somehow got information on Kiryu being in Ijincho. He is a professional after all. Plus, by now Kiryu is also, well, not really working with... but. You know, not fighting with the Amon Clan anymore, even having Shin Amon to help determine Ichibans strength with the (True) Final Millennium Tower.
And, now, maybe there can be some other comnecting inside the Amon Clan and some info got out to Arase, ah, hell, I don't know, it's all so far fetched but I just like to have those possible headcanons of Arase somehow coming back!
Another possibility could also be Arase thinking Kiryu has died, just per chance being in the area and just going to the Survive bar? He'd probably be way more open about the thought of redemption and with Kashiwagi probably being pretty good at talking former Yakuza into that, given how the whole HLA was his doing.
Just... Thinking about possible things.
Yakuza LaD spoilers end here!
Well. That's that.
At the end of the day, the chances of Arase returning are pretty much 0, other characters you never thought of reappearing sometimes appear in one way or another, so it can be possible, but probably won't.
But one thing is clear, looking more into this character made me really appreciate him more. I guess that's the fact with a lot of characters, not just in Yakuza, but in general.
The characters in Yakuza are just so well written and even though it has some very weird and silly plot points and plot twists, I just love this game so much and looking more into it and replaying it is just so much fun.
I even started to like the minigames in Yakuza 3, even though I got very hopeless at the last pool opponent and the goddamn Mahjong completion, ugh. But at the end of the day it's all just really fun once you get the hang of it. It hasn't aged too well when you play it after the other Yakuza games, but replaying it on all the difficulties and then casually, then trying to beat it as fast as I can just made me love the game more and more every time.
So, uh... I don't know if it's a blessing or curse for me to often really like the characters that either everyone hates or have almost to screen time. Because well... there's such a lack of content and appreciation but hey that's what I'm writing this for!
I hope maybe someone starts to appreciate Arase more after this - if anyone even reads further after learning that I love this character. :D' I swear I tried to write it with as little bias as possible. I do know he's a morally very very grey character but after all, it's a video game character. (...There's no way I'll ever like characters like Yoneda...Ogita...Or Kume though... ugh)
Well anyway, with that, I go!

Ina x MC: You’re It
Ina x MC: You’re It
Summary: Ina and Luna celebrate their dating anniversary.

Author’s Notes: Another installment of Ina and Luna’s future series.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Inaaaaaa,” Luna whined.
“Yes?” Ina replied to Luna after quietly whispering into the taxi driver’s ear.
“Where are we going?”
“You’ll see. I promise you’ll like it.”
“So for our dating anniversary, you get to decide on the place without even consulting me? Talk about a power imbalance,” Luna said playfully.
This goddamn woman. Sometimes Ina thought Luna liked teasing her more than she loved her.
“Fine,” Ina huffed. “Do you want to know where we’re going?”
“No! I like the surprise.”
Maddening. Infuriating. Yet after everything, she was still wrapped around her finger.
“You’re something else, aren’t you Lu?”
“I pride myself in being ‘something else.’ You still love me.”
“That, I do.”
A semblance of silence took over the taxi, a first after a whole car ride of playful banter between the women. Instead, the busy outside cacophony took over...a truck horn here, a driver cursing out a pedestrian there...
“We’re here,” the taxi driver announced.
Ina quickly thanked him and left a generous tip on the app. No one deliberately signed up for meddling in the business of a couple in love. Luna reached for the cab door, but was promptly stopped by Ina.
“Nuh-uh. Wait a second.”
Ina hopped out of the car and rushed to the other side of the cab to open Luna’s door. Despite being cursed at by drivers behind her as she held up traffic, she maintained her calm. There were bigger, more important things than a little traffic holdup, especially today.
“You know, you don’t need to be all formal and chivalrous and whatnot,” Luna said as she took Ina’s hand to get out of the car.
“Believe it or not, that was not my intention. I actually am here to cover your eyes before you see your destination.”
Ina felt Luna roll her eyes.
“Always with the ulterior motives, huh?” Luna jested.
This time, it was Ina’s turn to play coy. “Maybe, but you love me regardless.”
“I do.”
The two walked a few hundred feet, Ina behind Luna to shield the world from her. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for that woman. Ina vowed to protect her at all costs, cherish her, appreciate her, love her endlessly...It’d only been a year since Ina finally had asked her officially to be with her, but somehow, Ina knew. Ina knew that this was the woman of her dreams, someone she would happily spend the rest of her life with. However, they hadn’t had the marriage conversation yet. Hell, they hadn’t even moved in together yet. She knew Luna wanted to get married, but that would be one day. Sometime in the distant future. Luna was considerably younger than Ina, and Ina accepted the fact that she may have to wait several years to pop the question. She’d figured that she’d wait decades to tie the knot if it had come to that.
“Okay. We’re here,” Ina said, uncovering Luna’s eyes.
“Ina, you did not.”
“I did.”
“I’ve been wanting to do laser tag forever!”
“Well, I had run out of excuses. I figured it was time for me to try it by now.”
Ina took Luna’s hand and led her into the laser tag arena. God, this was so childish, she thought.
“What exactly is that face?” Luna said slyly, smirking up at Ina.
“What? This gorgeous face you fell in love with?” Ina countered.
“It’s a ‘wow Luna, I can’t believe I’m doing this’ face.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say I would’ve come here on my own will.”
“Just keep an open mind. Maybe you’ll like it, who knows?”
“I will. I promise.”
Soon, the two were placed into a larger group. They decided to be on opposite teams just so one could have bragging rights. After a few minutes of Luna’s trash-talking, they were separated into their respective teams. Luna smirked over at Ina as the doors opened to the terrain. Game on.
~
The siren blared over the speakers system, indicating the start of the battle. Ina was situated near the back of the arena, her back crouched against the wall. She knew Luna - she would definitely come looking for her. Luna was too competitive for her own good and she’d be lured to find Ina quickly.
Sure enough, two minutes into the round, Luna lurked near the back where Ina was hiding. She thought she was being discrete, silently searching for partner. Just as she reached the back wall, her vest lit up and an alarm went off.
Crap!
She slowly turned around, only to find Ina smirking at her.
“Gotcha. See you later,” Ina winked at Luna as she slipped back into the darkness.
I’m gonna get her, Luna vowed.
The game progressed with both teams neck and neck in score. A minute flashed on the countdown. Ina then spotted Luna. Just as she was raising her laser gun, Luna put her finger on the trigger.
“Wait!”
And somehow, despite the room full of people, Luna and Ina felt like the only people in the world.
“Truce?” Luna called out.
“Truce.” The countdown slowly approached the thirty second mark and Luna made her way to Ina. She wrapped an arm around Luna, gently kissing her temple.
“Good game,” Ina began to whisper softly into her ear. “I totally got you at the beginning though.”
5...4...3...
Luna wrapped Ina in her arms placing a small kiss in her forehead.
2...1....
Suddenly, she pulled away. At once, Ina’s vest lit up. She looked around, expecting some stranger to have hit her, but was met by Luna’s gaze.
“You...” she grumbled.
“And I totally got you at the end. Oh look who won!” Luna smirked and pointed at the scoreboard. Luna’s sly shot had boosted her own team 100 points higher than Ina’s.
Ina grumbled again in response. “I suppose, but I think it’s rather symbolic.”
And symbolic it was. They were situated in a room full of obstacles, yet somehow fate, destiny, the universe or some higher, inexplicable being had brought them together. It represented that they’d always find each other somehow, and in the end, it would always be them against the world.
Luna quietly reflected on Ina’s words, understanding how their relationship had come to fruition. They slipped out of the laser tag arena and Luna looped her slender arm around Ina’s.
“It’s my turn to give you your anniversary present,” Luna said.
She dragged Ina across New York City, walking past their favorite places...Times Square, the Natural History Museum, Central Park...Ina lingered at each site, remembering dates they had gone on. All of those small, but wonderful moments had led up to this.
“Okay so we’ve only talked about this a little bit but I think we’re ready for it,” Luna turned back to Ina as she walked backwards. She promptly stopped in front of a small building and held her hands out in presentation.
“Here we are!”
“Your apartment?”
“Yeah! Hold out your hands.”
Ina put her hands out as if she were accepting something when she saw Luna go frozen.
Physically Luna was frozen, but her thoughts moved a mile a minute. Yes, she loved Ina. Yes, she had been the one that took her back to her apartment. Yes, she’d stop at nothing until she was happy. But oh god. Commitment was staring her point blank in the face. Moving in together was a huge milestone.
Their relationship was good - the best Luna had ever been in. But her past relationships kept coming to mind. All the fights, all the deceptions, all the mistrust. Luna was unafraid of most things, but she did fear commitment.
“I-” she began.
Ina’s intuition kicked in and redirected her away from the entrance, leaning against the building.
“Hey. We don’t have to if you don’t want to. I’m ready for the next step in this relationship, but it’s our relationship and we need to both agree on its pace. I’m okay with waiting.”
“Thank you. It’s just all this stuff is new to me. I’ve never been in a relationship this serious and I’ve never gotten this far. I was just a hormonal kid in my past relationships - all I cared about was having fun,” she admitted. “And Ina...I’m scared. I trust and love you with all of my heart, but I’m still scared. I’m scared you’ll find a part of me you don’t like and you’ll want out. I’m scared you fell in love with someone who you think is me, but isn’t truly me.”
Luna looked up with tears in her eyes. These were the kind of conversations the two held curled up together in bed, admitting things they’d never even attempted to say aloud before. They built their relationship on love, but also on trust. They’d taken everything with caution. It was these intimate moments that carved their relationship into the one it was today.
“Do you understand what-”
“I know exactly what you mean,” Ina said as she wiped tears away from Luna’s eyes. “For a long time I only focused on my career. My love life always came second. I always wanted to be that youngster at a convention full of well-seasoned anthropologists. At least, that’s what I told myself. I blocked out the very possibility that the true reason I didn’t want a love life may be because of my parents. People who are supposed to love you unconditionally didn’t love Lilian and I like they should’ve. I was so afraid of yet another betrayal. But then I found you. And everything’s just clicked. I don’t have to pretend to be anyone I’m not with you. And I love you for many reasons, but that may be the most prominent.”
And after hearing a sweet and soft declaration of love from Luna, Ina met her girlfriend’s lips. It was then and there that Luna truly understood how much Ina cared for her. That Ina was different from the young, immature men and women from her past. That she’d finally found someone good. Someone who appreciated her. Someone who comforted her. Someone who protected her at all costs.
“I’m ready.”
“Are you sure? Seriously Luna, this is a big deal. I understand if you want to wait more.”
“I’m sure. For a while now, I’ve dreaded having to come back to my own apartment alone after spending the day at yours. I want this with you. I admit I’m a bit afraid, but that feeling is no where near the feeling that I want to live with you.”
Luna dropped a pair of keys in Ina’s hands as the two rode the elevator up to Luna’s apartment.
“I’m worried, Luna.”
“What’s on your mind?”
“You don’t expect me to live in this shack, right?”
“It is NOT a shack. It is my lovely one-bedroom apartment which is what I could afford in this ungodly costly city after my Belvoire graduation.” Luna giggled as she perched her chin on Ina’s shoulder. “No, silly. It was symbolic. We’re definitely moving into your place.”
“Good. Let’s start packing this place up.”

Summary: Love is complicated, especially when your crush is receiving letters from a secret admirer.
Pairing: Jean x GN!Reader
Word Count: 4.8k
Warnings: Fluff
A/N: This is based off episode six of AOT junior high. If you haven’t seen it, give it a watch cause it’s super funny. I did proofread a couple of times but if there's anything that indicates the reader is not gender neutral, let me know so I can change it. Any and all comments are appreciated, thank you!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The nerves that were currently racking over your body made you feel numb. Like you would fall over any second now. There was no point in taking deep breaths because that hadn't been helping at all, made you feel worse even. Fortunately, the letter in your hands wasn't being ruined by your tense fingers. You managed to be able to control that much.
Speaking of, you should check it again. You sighed in relief to see it still in pristine condition, that was the tenth time you've checked it. Call it cheesy, but you wanted it to be perfect. You'd been crushing on him since elementary and still haven't been able to confess. He'd probably laugh it off as a joke if you did it face to face.
Although it didn't aid you earlier, you tried taking in another deep breath to gain a little bit more courage. Without giving it another thought, you walked to the shoe locker you had been watching for the past five minutes. You blocked off any negative thoughts that came up. If you didn't, you'd probably end up backing out, again.
This internal battle had been going on for the past five days. You tried to work up the courage to finally stick the damn letter in, only to back out last minute. The worst-case scenario always manifested itself in your head when you tried. Not this time, you refused. This time Jean Kirstein was going to read your anonymous letter. After that, the next hurdle to jump over was going to be confessing face-to-face.
Even after you finally prepared yourself to jump over this current hurdle, an obstacle presented itself. The obstacle was the object of affections, Jean. You were almost positive that you had come early enough not to run into him this time. It seemed like your doubtful thoughts took up more time than you thought.
You watched as he and Eren fought for what felt like the fiftieth time today. You knew it was because of Mikasa, it was apparent he felt something towards her. Despite that, you still wanted him to know about your feelings.
"What the-!? Hey man, I don't know who you think you are, but rip my uniform again and-!" Eren's retort was cut off by Mikasa throwing him over her shoulder and walking away. That was the only silver lining in your predicament, Mikasa had no interest in Jean. Only Eren.
With a heaving sigh, you shoved the letter in your bag and walked to Jean and Marco, who had been at his side the entire time. "Is there ever gonna be a day where you don't pick a fight with Eren?" You asked teasingly.
Jean scoffed, "not my fault. Cheeburg bastard was asking for it," he retorted while laying a hand on his locker.
You rolled your eyes and gave Marco a look to which he shrugged. You looked back at Jean, "I'm sure he was, tough guy," you replied sarcastically.
Jean ignored your words. "Why can't any of the girls in school ever appreciate my charm?" He whined to himself.
You heard his complaint and felt your cheeks heat up. You reached into your bag to double-check on the letter. You let out a breath you had been holding when you felt it. You inwardly groaned at your cowardice and began to walk out in shame until Jean called out you.
"Huh?" You asked, turning back to face him.
He turned his gaze to his locker as he spoke to you. "I was just wondering if you wanted to-" He cut himself off when his gaze landed on the inside of his locker. Whatever was in there caused his eyes to widen and a blush to erupt on his cheeks.
You and Marco glanced at each other and rose a brow. Both of you silently wondered what exactly captured his attention. You continued watching as he shoved his head in his locker and came out with a pink letter sealed with a heart sticker.
Anyone with working eyes would be able to realize what exactly that was, a love letter. You felt your heart drop and shatter like glass. He looked just about ready to explode while reading its contents. You didn't want to believe it was entirely possible for your own sake, but there it was.
You should've known something like this would happen sooner or later. Others didn't think so but underneath it all, Jean was a catch. Sure, he could be arrogant and stupid sometimes, but that was all a front to look cool. On the inside, he genuinely cared about others and was a sweet guy.
You quickly ran out before you could gauge his entire reaction to the cutesy letter. Tears came to your eyes when you stopped running. "Damn it," you cursed at yourself. There was no one to blame but yourself after all.
"Hey!"
Someone was calling out to you from behind, you recognized the voice as Marco's. You began debating on whether or not you should turn around. In the end, you decided it would be fine. Besides, if anyone would offer you some sympathy to help you feel better, it was him. You just hoped Jean wasn't with him.
Based on the silence that came, you had to assume he wasn't there. If he was, he'd probably be gloating about his letter to you. A hand came down onto your shoulder causing you to turn and face him. Marco's eyes widened for a split second when he saw the tears in your eyes. He remained nonchalant and didn't mention it while he walked beside you.
"This has to do with Jean, doesn't it?" He inquired after a few moments of silence.
You tensed and felt your cheeks grow warm, "how'd you guess?" You asked. You hadn't told anyone about your crush and tried your best to remain secretive, clearly, you failed.
Marco chuckled, "it was a little obvious. But don't worry, I won't tell," he assured with a finger to his lips. "I'm guessing you're upset about that letter, huh?" His tone shifted when he asked.
You didn't know your heart could shatter twice in one day. That letter had been so cute, so much cuter than yours. It makes he'd want something like that. A pink envelope that most likely enclosed a matching piece of paper decorated in hearts. To top it all off, you'd bet your lunch money they sprayed it in perfume. No doubt smelling as sweet as their message.
Marco noticed your change in demeanor and squeezed your shoulder in reassurance. "Hey, don't worry about it," he said, "just because he already has one doesn't mean you can't try your luck."
He wasn't wrong. It wasn't as if Jean was automatically in a relationship just because of some letter. A smile came to your lips, "you're right!" You exclaimed, "I still have a chance!"
Your mood shifted entirely thanks to Marco. Now it was time to think of a different approach and a way to spice things up. But before doing all of that, you owed him a thank you. "Thank you so much, Marco!" You gave him a quick hug and raced home, millions of ideas going through your mind.
~
Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough. It was time to get to school. Thanks to that allnighter you almost pulled, you were almost late. During said allnighter, you came up with the idea to make chocolates along with a new letter. You were pretty proud of how they came out, practically perfect. You even put them in a heart-shaped box with the letter attached. Albeit a little odd because it wasn't valentine's day, but you didn't care.
The moment you stepped into the classroom Sasha's nose was glued to your bag. You flinched and tugged your bag behind you, "what's up with you?" You asked defensively.
Sasha snapped herself out of her trance and smiled sheepishly at you. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself." She giggled while rubbing the back of her neck. "Something in your bag just smells so good!" She practically began drooling at the smell.
Connie, who had been standing next to her, rose a brow. "What do you mean?" He asked cluelessly, "I don't smell anything." He began sniffing the air in an attempt to catch a whiff of what Sasha was talking about. He shrugged after not smelling anything.
Sasha was noticeably offended by Connie's words. "How could you not?!-" she grabbed his shoulders- "it's so sweet that the smell is hitting me from all over!" She began shaking him causing him to go dizzy.
You giggled at the two and shook your head. No point in paying them any mind for today. You had to say focused and most important, calm. You turned around to find your seat and froze at the sight of Jean.
"What the-?!" You spat out. That was something you certainly weren't expecting today, though it made sense considering his occasion. Apparently, he thought it would be nice to style his hair today.
You weren't sure so you'd have to ask for clarification. In your opinion, it looked ridiculous. It looked similar to Elvis Presley, you didn't even know he had enough hair to style it like that.
You grabbed Sasha, interrupting her rant to Connie, and brought her close to whisper. "What's up with Jean's hair?" You asked cringing.
Sasha started to laugh at the mention of Jean's hair. "I know right! It looks ridiculous!" She wiped a tear from her eye. "Apparently he wanted to look good for whoever wrote him some love letter," she explained, "personally, I think it's a prank."
You hummed and nodded, but then stopped after smelling something in the air. "Huh?" You questioned, "did Mr. Shadis spray something in the classroom yesterday?" It was an odd smell, kind of like air freshener.
After getting over her laugh attack at your previous question, Sasha couldn't help but laugh again. "That's actually Jean's cologne," she answered.
You couldn't help but let out your own giggle. He really put out all the stops today for whoever sent him the letter. It was a little disheartening, but you wouldn't let that stop you.
"I'm surprised you can smell whatever was in my bag," you commented, "considering Jean's cologne is all over the classroom."
Sasha's eyes shined. "How could I not?" She asked rhetorically, "the smell is amazing~!" She sighed in bliss.
"Say, you wouldn't happen to wanna share some of that, would you?" She shyly poked at your side.
You smiled. "Not today, but I'll bring you some another time." You grabbed her hand and squeezed, "I promise."
Sasha beamed had tears in her eyes, "thank you so much~!" She praised and wrapped her arms around your waist. You pat her head and smiled down at her.
By then, Krysta and Ymir came in. Sasha's attention was taken away from you when Krysta handed her a snack. Sasha tried to show her appreciation by hugging her until Ymir stepped in and shoved her away. You would've laughed at their antics if you hadn't focused your attention on Jean, who was currently blushing and staring into space.
'I wonder what's up with him,' you thought.
Whatever was going on with him seemed to get worse when two upperclassmen, Rico and Petra, came in. He even began bleeding out of his nose. You thought nothing of it and sat down at your usual seat.
Just as you sat down, you realized you had forgotten something. Yesterday you decided to give the letter face-to-face, but there was just one problem. You never planned out what you were going to say. You could opt for speaking from the heart, but you always got nervous and words failed you. You groaned and laid your head down on your desk in defeat.
You didn't get to wallow for very long because of someone yanking your sleeve. You rose a brow and saw Marco fearfully kneeling by your desk. You said nothing hoping he would explain himself only for him to point towards Jean's seat.
You caught sight of Mikasa and Annie staring at each other like rabid dogs. You flinched at the sight and knelt down next to him. Even if they were currently in a classroom, you still wouldn't be surprised if they fought right now.
It seemed like Jean felt the need to meditate as he stood up and said, "ladies, no need to fight over me, there's enough Jean for every-" He didn't get to finish his sentence because he got caught in the crossfire of Annie and Mikasa's kicks.
The way he got flung into the air and slammed back down onto the ground was definitely painful. You almost stepped in to help until you noticed something fall from Annie's pocket. It was the same love letter from yesterday. Your eyes widened and you felt sick. Could she be the one giving him the letters?
Jean seemed to be thinking the same thing when the same blush from earlier stained his cheeks. You felt dishearten just after gaining your confidence back, how you were supposed to compete with someone like that? That thought was stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Fortunately, Mr. Shadis didn't notice.
After class, you had caught up with everyone and walked while listening to all of their overlapping conversations. You butt into the conversation at times, but your focus was still on the object of affections. Marco noticed and gave you a reassuring smile.
You smiled back and turned your attention to the lockers. Clearly, someone hadn't expected all of you to walk that quickly as they were still busy shoving something into a locker. That someone being Annie, who was most likely putting another letter in Jean's locker.
Eren called out to her, "Annie?"
She tensed at the sound of her name and quickly ran off at the sight of all of you staring at her. You gazed at Jean to see his reaction only to see the same dreamy look on his face from earlier. He seemed to be stuck in some sort of fantasy world like earlier, Armin had informed you of that during lunch. Except it was about Annie this time.
Seemed like everyone else but you could see exactly what he was dreaming about as Sasha commented, "clearly he doesn't remember how it all went down."
"The letter!" Jean snapped himself out of his trance when he reminded himself of it. He ran to his locker to quickly read it as did everyone else looming over his shoulders.
It read: "Please come to Attack Park after school."
Jean didn't waste any time after reading the letter and ran outside screaming at the top of his lungs, "this is it! My time has come!" He continued cheering before running off in the direction of Attack Park, leaving the rest of you in the dust.
It felt like the universe was laughing in your face right now. Things only seemed to get worse and worse as the minutes passed. You supposed it might be time to face reality and try moving on. If Annie really was the one crushing on him, the proof is undeniable at this point, then you had no chance in hell. She'd probably crush you for so much as thinking about him.
"Man, this sucks," you whined under your breath.
"Guys..."
You cringed at the sound of Annie's voice from behind you and hid beside Marco. 'She can't hear my thoughts right?' A shiver went down your spine.
"Annie?" Asked Armin, "shouldn't you be in the park?"
She was blushing as she spoke. "Actually I was gonna try to pick your brains this morning," she said, "I need some advice about..." She appeared embarrassed about whatever she was going to say next.
"Well, about these stupid love letters," she finally said.
Everyone looked at her and expressed their confusion, "huh?"
~
After talking with Annie, everyone walked to the park together. The plan was to spy on them while Annie broke the news. None of you fully understood what she meant when she had confessed the actual secret admirer was unable to deliver the letters herself. You felt hopeful after learning it wasn't Annie, but now it left the secret admirer as just that, a secret.
Armin advised her to pretend to be the admirer to watch his reaction while everyone else hid behind a tree. Annie didn't seem to care enough to protest against everyone spying despite it not being essential to the plan.
Everything was going according to plan until Jean decided to screw it up. "Oh no..." You mumbled with a facepalm. He was putting up his arrogant facade and ruining everything.
"What's he doing?" Eren whisper-yelled.
"He does this when he's not sure of what to say," you explained, "poor guy is gonna get his ass kicked again." Your words held true when Annie knocked him over on his back like earlier.
Annie felt it fitting to finally explain to Jean that her friend was the one who asked her to write the letters and send them. He was shocked at the news and didn't have any time to process it as Annie prepared to call out to her friend. While everyone was expecting a name, she just stood there and screeched at the top of her lungs.
After a few moments of tense silence and Sasha hissing at Annie, thudding steps grew louder the closer they came to Attack Park. Everyone turned to the sounds of it and screamed at the sight of a titan running towards them.
As it turns out, Annie was a part of the same cram school as some titans and learned some interesting things there, including their language. This titan in particular asked for the favor of writing and sending letters to Jean.
Everyone turned towards a distraught Jean with millions of questions running through their minds. Meanwhile, you were just trying your best to keep from laughing. It was comical to think you had been worrying about a titan this entire time. Of course, only Jean could have this kind of luck.
After taking a look at Jean, it seemed like he was almost considering dating a titan. Your laughter quickly died.
Annie mentioned she was shy and that made him look at things in a different light. That light was immediately snuffed at the sight of the giant titan blushing from behind a jungle gym.
"Hell no!" He exclaimed, cringing.
Everyone was most definitely enjoying this as they continued to tease him. "Come on Jean, don't be like that," coaxed Armin.
The laughter came back after hearing everyone tease him. "Yeah, maybe you should give her a chance," you said in between giggles. You laughed even harder when Jean turned around to glare at you.
Annie frowned at Jean's reaction, "you're a jerk," she sneered, "the two of you already have a history. At least as she sees it, you gave her your lunch the other day."
At first, you were confused until Marco had reminded you what happened a couple of days ago. "Don't you guys remember?! We were running for our lives!" He said fearfully while retelling the story for everyone.
~Flashback (Dramaticized for the fun of it)
The three of you had been peacefully walking to school talking of the events that would happen that day. The peace was disrupted at the sound of thudding steps nearing the three of you.
"Oh no! A titan!" You guys had yelled. There was still a slim chance you could outrun her until Marco tripped over himself and insisted he should be left behind.
You and Jean immediately refused. Fortunately, with his quick thinking, he grabbed his lunch as a sacrifice. You gasped and grabbed his arm to stop him, "wait, Jean, isn't that the lunch your mom made?" You asked, "I thought it was special to you!"
"That's not important right now!" He shouted, wasting no time to throw it in her mouth. "Eat this, you freak!"
The titan was distracted and Jean quickly grabbed you and Marco to run away. As you did, none of you had seen the blush that spread over the titan's cheeks.
~
"She said she can't stop thinking about the rice omelet and that you're adorable," explained Annie after Marco's flashback.
Everyone teased Jean after the story and jokingly tried to coax him into dating her. As they joked amongst themselves none of them noticed the inner turmoil going on in Jean's head. He appeared to have finally snapped when all of a sudden, he went robotic and denied his admirer was even a titan.
"What are you trying to say, Jean?" Questioned Armin.
"Maybe the shock was enough to make him lose his marbles," commented Eren.
No one else had anything to say as they watched Jean climb to the top of the jungle gym and insist the titan was a normal human. His only piece of evidence, if you can even call it that, was that he was "taller" than her.
"Dude! She's a dozen of you!" Yelled Eren, trying to snap him out of it.
Getting pushed off the top of the jungle gym by her didn't help with delusions, probably made them worse. Everyone cringed when Jean hit the ground with a loud thud and quickly stood back up. He asserted he could hold her hand and opened his arms for a hug.
You covered your eyes when she slammed herself on top of him. You couldn't bear to keep watching his slow descent into madness, "This is getting painful," you whispered to Marco.
"Yeah, no kidding..." He responded.
Eren and Armin kept yelling in hopes to snap him out of it but to no avail. It ended it being thanks to Marco that he finally escaped whatever delusion he was in. Jean shook his head at Marco's words to face reality and stared into the titan's eyes. She had him in the palm of her hand as he deeply contemplated his decision. Or so you thought.
His face turned to one of disgust, "She's taller than me!"
You paled, "really?! That's your dealbreaker?!" You yelled up at him.
Jean was thrown to the ground what was the hundredth time today after the titan started crying. His world of pain was neverending when she brought her hand down to slam him harder into the ground. When she lifted it, Jean was halfway into the ground, eyes swirling.
As the titan ran away mumbling something incoherent, Annie watched and translated. "She says she's not giving up," she explained.
To make matters worse, Sasha's attempt at comfort was to make it seem like a daikon and a curry bun were now fighting over Jean. It was a weird form of attention that he relished in.
Everyone decided to go their separate ways when Sasha deemed her work to be complete. You couldn't blame them, you wouldn't want to watch your friend at their lowest either. They called out to you and Marco, but both of you decided to stay behind to watch him. Meanwhile, Annie went her own way to cram school.
When it was just the three of you, or five if you count the daikon and curry bun, left you turned to Marco. "You can go if you want," you told him.
His eyes widened, "you sure?" He asked.
You nodded and reached into your bag, "yeah, I think now's a good a time as any." You pulled out the letter and chocolates from this morning. Marco smiled and nodded. He left after wishing you good luck.
You wasted no time when Marco was out of sight. You crouched down to Jean and cringed as he mumbled to the curry bun and daikon. It was difficult to continue watching him suffer from his overactive imagination. You flicked his forehead in an attempt to bring him back to earth.
"Oi, Jean." You flicked him, "snap out of it."
The mixture of light pain and your voice seemed to work. He shook his head and looked at the curry bun and daikon in his hands. "Do I wanna know?" He cringed while asking you.
You chuckled and shook your head, "you should probably stop daydreaming for a little while," you advised.
He dropped the items on the ground and looked around the park in search of something. "Where'd everyone go?" He asked.
"They left when you started going nuts over the daikon and curry bun," you explained, gesturing to the food he dropped. You should probably have him pay back Sahsa for that at some point.
Jean sighed and covered his face with his hands, "I can't believe this..." He was mortified over his actions.
You knew it might be the best time, but if you didn't do it now who's to say when you'd try again. "Hey, Jean..." You called his name and felt your cheeks heat up when he stared at you.
"I, uh..." Just like you knew they would, words failed you. You decided your actions should speak for you instead and bowed your head down when you gave him the gifts. You didn't dare glance up at him to see his reactions. The worst possible scenarios were filling your head already.
"Are these for me...?"
You nodded and snuck a peek at his face. Your eyes widened when you caught sight of the blush on his cheeks. That looked like a good sign, but you didn't want to get ahead of yourself. The last thing you wanted was more disappointment.
That feeling came quickly when he recoiled from the gifts. It felt like an imaginary dagger pierced your heart when he did. You might as well get eaten by a titan, not your lunch. You moved to take away the gifts and run away but stopped when he spoke.
"Those aren't from... her, right?"
You quickly realized he was talking about the titan and began laughing so hard your stomach began to hurt. "Are you serious?" You asked, wiping the tears from your eyes.
"Hey, don't laugh at me!" He yelled, defensive.
You continued giggling regardless, "I'm sorry, it's just funny." You shook your head to his silliness. "No, they're from me," you admitted.
Jean's eyes widened, "really?" He asked in disbelief.
You felt your cheeks grow red and nodded, "I made the chocolates myself," you remarked. You were about to open them for him until you noticed he was still stuck in a hole.
"Oh, I should probably help you out of that." You stood up and grabbed his arms to tug him out. It took a few good tugs until he finally broke free. You underestimated your strength when you made him fall onto you after he broke free.
You grunted at the feeling of his body slamming into you. Your eyes had shut themselves because of the pain and sand landing in your eyes. You had no clue where he landed and groaned when you fell onto the hard ground. When you were finally able to open your eyes, all you saw was white.
'Huh...?' You thought in a daze. You shook yourself out of your dazed state and caught sight of Jean staring down at you, his face mimicking a tomato. You had been looking at his shirt.
You squealed and shoved him away from you. He ended up landing on his face with a yelp and you flinched. "Oops, sorry," you said sheepishly while he fixed himself.
Jean paid you no mind and picked up the chocolates and letter from the ground. He clutched it tightly in his hands and almost refused to open it. You may not think so, but this was one of the cutest things he'd ever seen you do. He didn't wanna ruin it. Then again, he was dying to know what it said.
But before he opened it, he had to ask you something. "Why didn't you say anything before?" He asked.
You shrugged, "who am I to get in the way of true love?" You teased referring to the titan.
Jean paled and rolled his eyes, "way to ruin the moment," he grumbled at you. You smirked and stuck your tongue in response.
He carefully opened the letter and took his time while reading its contents as you stared. The silence that followed made you feel like you were drowning in nothing. There was still some hope, however, based on his previous reactions.
You assumed he was finished when he put it in his bag. After a couple of seconds of stifling silence, you spoke. "So... What did you think?" You began wringing the ends of your shirt causing it to wrinkle.
No words were spoken by him when he stood up and leaned down to press a kiss to your cheek. You gasped and brought a hand up to your cheek. You hadn't even realized he was walking away until you finally got over your initial shock.
You let out a noise of disbelief and ran to him after grabbing your bag. "Hey! Don't try to act cool and run away from me!" You yelled while running after him.
"Can't you just let me have this moment?!"
"No way!"
Anakin Skywalker - Older
Warnings: Death, Mention of the Dark Side [haha]
Words: 2,1k
Tumblr media
[10 years earlier]
“FATHER!” My throat was raw as the piercing scream came out of my throat. Obi-Wan was stuck in two different pulsing electrons as we watched my father die. Tears of anger and revenge shot on my face.
As the pulsing electrons disappeared in front of me, my lightsaber shot up, the green color filing up the space around me. My legs were running before I knew it, while taking the first step to attacking the Sith. My fellow Jedi walked behind me, now attacking the Sith by two. Slashing sounds were all that could be heard through the grunts and the lightsabers hitting themselves.
My mind was racked with wrong ideas, ideas that weren’t the Jedi way, but now my father was the one to pay. Our enemy made me trip over the melting pit, but I cached a nozzle on the side before perishing into the whole. My lightsaber, that my father had helped me do it, fell into it. It was probably the only thing that I had that reminded me of him.
Obi-Wan needed to fight the Sith, but I knew that our opposant was stronger. I looked all around me to see what I could use to defend myself, as I saw my father’s lightsaber lying by him.
I’ve always been good with the Force, but when it comes to situations like these, I can barely function with the pressure. I focused my mind to help myself raise from the pit and to take my father’s belonging. I felt a boost of adrenaline run through my veins, making me lift up from the ground and catch my father’s lightsaber through the thin air.
I approached the both of them and attacked the Sith ruthlessly, slashing his body in half, and seeing him fall into the pit. I immediately rush to my father’s side, taking his hand in mine as Obi-Wan placed his head on his lap.
“Master.” Obi-Wan’s voice was filled with sadness and helplessness. Tears ran on his delicate face, making me tear up.
“It is too late...It's...” My father’s voice rang through my ears, making me regret not spending enough time with him.
“No, Father. Please don’t go.” My father looked down at me, holding his hand to my cheek, as I held his on my face, feeling his warmth for the last time.
“Y/N, my… beautiful daughter, Obi-Wan, promise me you’ll… both train…the boy.” He whispered loud enough for us to hear. I nodded my head against his hand.
“Yes, Master.” Obi-Wan ran his fingers on his face, admiring the only father figure he had.
“He is the chosen one...he will...bring balance...train him! Y/N… I love… you…” His hand fell from my cheek, falling on the ground. My heart was broken and a powerful heartbreak was unleashed inside of me.
“Father, NO. Please wake up, I-I-I need you.” My head fell on his chest as I felt Obi-Wan taking me away from his body.
“No, Obi-Wan, No.” I sobbed while he took me into his chest, wrapping his arms around me.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. I’m so sorry...” He whispered in my ear, brushing his hand by my neck, making me look up to him.
“I know it-t-t hurts, but we need to leave, now.” I nodded against my own will, but our Jedi duties were needed. I took my father’s precious lightsaber in mine and pressed a kiss on his forehead. “I will always love you, father.” I stood up and Obi-Wan led me towards the real battle.
[10 years later]
“Master Y/N?” A soft voice made me snap out of my thoughts. I had heard news that two Jedi knights were coming to help protect Senator Amidala. It made me relive some odd memories about my father, and my journey along the path of light.
“Yes?” My padawan came through the doorway of my chamber. He was one of the younger children I had helped in my journey. Most of my padawan were children who were orphans and didn’t know how to control their gift.
“The Jedi Knights are arriving.” He softly spoke to me. I smiled in approval. “Thank you, dear one. You may have the day to yourself, enjoy it!” He ran through the doorway, going to join his friends in the junior training center.
I really loved to work with the children, especially with the younger ones. It reminded me of my pleasant childhood on Coruscant. I walked towards the elevator, ready to welcome the two Jedi Knights. I didn’t know who were coming, but I felt a great force coming from the two of them.
I heard the doors open and turned around. I immediately recognize their faces.
Obi-Wan and… Anakin? Perhaps.
“Y/N!” He almost ran up to me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and holding me tight against him. We trained most of the time together, and eventually became best friends.
“It’s great seeing you after all this time, Obi-Wan.” I gave him a squeeze around his back as he let go of our embrace, taking a good look at the woman I became. I looked at the teenager behind him and I could recognize those blue eyes anywhere.
“Anakin? God, you’ve grown.” A smile grew on his face, I walked closer to him, smiling back at him, and embracing him into my arms. He wrapped his arms around my middle and landed his head in the crook of my neck.
His smell was always one of the things I always loved about him; he would always smell like sunshine and warm vanilla. I had no idea how much I had missed him until now. He mumbled something against my neck, making me shiver in his embrace. “I have missed you, Y/N.” His voice was much deeper and more mature, making me remind me of our last meeting ten years ago.
“I missed you too, Anakin.” I whispered by his neck, making me press my hand towards his hair, feeling his brownish hair in my fingers. We separated and just looked at each other for a few seconds.
I normally wouldn’t feel like this, but he made my heart flutter for the first time. After my father’s death, my heart couldn’t be repaired or fixed by anyone. His death had created a void in my soul, which made me loose some of my powers for a while.
Jar-Jar made his way towards the protectors and led them towards the Senator. Anakin turned his figure and smiled at me, offering me a small wink.
I smiled back and made my way towards the training center, which was below the conference floor. I had lived in Coruscant for a long time now, and it was and always will be my home.
[Time Skip]
I was training in the center with some electronics. I still had, even 10 years after, his lightsaber. I always had ease with the green lightsaber, as it offered me balance in my very core. Yes, I had my father who guided me before, but he appeared to me a few times. His Force was given to me after his perish, and I knew he would always be with me.
I used a blindfold to cover my eyes, seeing through it with my Force, my lightsaber was ignited and I took a deep breath before concentrating myself.
The electronic shot. Blocked it. It shot again, blocked it again. This sequence was repeated a long time before I took of my blindfold and decided to meditate.
As I removed it, I say Anakin standing in the doorway, eavesdropping. I closed my saber and walked closer to my training equipment.
“Hi there, pretty boy. Want to come in?” He nodded, smirking slightly. I opened the window that was facing towards the city, directly pointing at the sunset. We both walked towards the opening.
“How have you been, Y/N?” I took a deep breath and looked up at him, leaning against the railing.
“It’s been a hard couple of years, but otherwise I’ve been great, Anakin. I finished my padawan training and I’ve been on the council for about five years now. To be honest, I’ve never thought that I would be on the council someday.”
I chuckled to myself, hearing the words of my father that he used to tell me when I was younger; “When you’ll get older, I promise you that you will have a seat by my side, on the council.” This promise could’ve been fulfilled if things were different.
“And you? I imagine a lot has happened since I’ve met you on Tatooine.” He smiled and leaned too against the railing.
“Well, I’ve had loads of training sessions with Master Obi-Wan, but I do believe I would be ready for the trials.” He turned his head to me, running his hand through his hair. “I know that I should’ve started training when I was younger, but I feel it in my soul. I really do.”
“I get that Anakin, and I’m a master now, which can be helpful if you would want me to talk to the council, or even just to get you to do the trials without anyone, but me, knowing.” His feature stood up straight, as did mine.
His nose arrived at the top of my head, as I looked up to his complexion. “You wou…could do that?” I nodded as he wrapped his arms around my middle, spinning me in the air with him. A laugh came out of my throat for the first time in years.
As he put me down, still holding on to me, I wrapped my arms behind his neck, slightly running my fingertips in his soft hair. Anakin lifted his head, still looking in my Y/E/C eyes. His deep blue eyes and features were glowing against the dim daylight. They both looked down to my lips, lowering his head to meet mine.
Our lips collided together, making me stand up on my feet to reach his level. His hands travelled lower to my waist, pulling me closer into his warm embrace. His soft palm travelled all the way to the back of my head, making a chill run up down my spine.
My lips against his felt, like fire on ice. Soothing and loving in both ways. He was delicate and soft with me, just like he always was. My Anakin.
Even though I knew that “love” was forbidden in our sacred code, he and I had a different way of thinking. I had heard one of his conversation with the senator the other day, and somehow I couldn’t get it out of my head: “Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is central to a Jedi's life.”
I always thought this way, because I knew that my father had a woman in his life, maybe he didn’t love her but he made sure that I knew that he loved me.
We both parted, as a smile grew on my face. “I’ve been wanting to do that ever since I turned ten.”
“You waited that long, huh?” A small laugh came out of his mouth.
“Yes, Master Jinn.” I kissed him again, this time his hands making their way through my hair, finding a small braid on the back of my Y/H/L Y/H/C hair.
He placed a small kiss on my nose before taking the braid in his fingers. “Is that…”
“My padawan braid, yes. I kept it, because it reminded me of you and, my father. He was the one to place the bands on it, when I was Master Windu's padawan.”
“I can never remember what the bands are supposed to mean.” His softness made me laugh.
“Well, the yellow and the red at the bottom are the ones I had when I was thirteen and sixteen, and then the white and green ones mean that I am a counselor and also a healer. Mostly healer, but I do have great skills from my previous master.”
“Oh, I do not doubt that.” I nudged him in his rib, making him chuckled a little. We both didn’t realise that the sun had gone out, when I looked to my right, seeing the stars appear.
“I believe your duties are calling, Anakin.” He nodded and gave me a last kiss, before running toward his master, a few floors higher.
“Y/N!” I turned to Anakin, seeing him stand on the doorway. “How about we train together tomorrow?” I smiled and gladly accepted. He turned around, practically jumping towards the elevator which made me smile even brighter than I was before.
Cilan x Reader Chapter 2 A Fight For Love
This chapter is a bit short but that's because I didn't want to write out the whole battle between Ash and Burgh because that seemed kinda pointless, I've got the next couple of chapters partly done and should be posting those soon but I set myself a typing limit to get these at a decent length for ya'll.
---------
Waking up bright and early ready to go and meet up with Ash, Iris, and Cilan for Ash’s battle against Burgh. You had battled Burgh before, it took you a few tries but you did beat Burgh, and you can’t wait to see if Ash can do the same. Thankfully the day before you all agreed to meet up in the city plaza and head to the gym from there. Excitedly running up to a street vendor for a quick snack you wait and look around trying to see the trio arrived yet. Until a very hyper Ash came out of nowhere quickly followed by Iris and Cilan
“(y/n) aren’t you excited! I can’t wait to get my next badge!” pumping himself up along with Pikachu.
“Yeah Ash, it’s been a while since I’ve seen Burgh battle anybody in a while” When you were first getting your badge you would watch other people’s battle with Burgh to study his moves when you weren’t doing that you helped tend the plants in the gym’s garden.
Quickly you all walked over to the gym, you decided to show them around a little before the battle and also to find Burgh, which you did high up in one of the many trees he sat feeding a sewaddle. Ash called out to him claiming to be ready for their gym battle. Cilan and Iris looked around them at all the plants that surrounded the room.
Hopping down from the tall tree Burgh greeted all of you “welcome to the Castillia Gym” looking pleased as Ash expressed his happiness about the battle ahead.
Everyone followed burgh to the battle arena further inside marveling at all the plants around you especially Cilan “ I’ve never seen so many trees indoors before, it’s amazing!”
“We transplanted the trees from the pinwheel forest, for the bug types benefits of course” helpfully stated “There’s nothing better than lots of greenery for a bug-type pokemon lover,” Burgh said it gives him ‘inspiration’ you just liked it for the plants.
“Why, even (y/n) helps with the plants from time to time” Turning to look at you.
“Oh, so you have a green thumb then (y/n)?” Cilan questioned though Burgh interrupted before you could respond.
“More like a green hand, even when a little flower might not make it they always seem to find a way to make it grow back stronger than ever!” You knew Burgh appreciated your help with the plants, you were proud of it, everyone saw you as rude just because of your personality, sure you had few friends from school but that was it most of your time was either training or helping with the gym. Burgh jumped back from that note to Ash checking to make sure he was ready to battle and with that the gym floor revealed itself. You, Cilan, and Iris took to the sidelines to watch. Burgh and Ash standing on opposite ends of the battlegrounds.
Before anything else happened the referee started his speech about the rules that you’ve heard a hundred times over. Burgh took the liberty of showing his pokemon first before Ash chooses him.
Tossing out his deweeble to start, Iris was a little surprised.
“Look at the rock on deweebles’ back, it’s different from your deweebles’ Cilan” Now you wanted to see CIlan's deweeble it’s always neat to see what rocks deweebels use for armor.
"Oh yeah Burgh's deweeble uses a different rock for its shell so it's faster than normal deweebels" you nonchalantly said, though not helpful for Ash's battle it's a fun fact you remember about Burgh's pokemon. But now the question came to what pokemon Ash would use against it.
Ash chose tepig as his first fighter, you went back a bit to sit on the concrete fencing surrounding the tall trees and plants, it’s where you would normally sit when watching people battle burgh, Cilan and Iris joined you both leaning against it. The referee blew the whistle and the battle began.
Not surprising at all Ash went straight for tackling deweeble trying to knock it over but Burghs’ deweeble is fast to dodge and dig below, getting the jump on tepig. It wasn’t that long of a battle between the pokemon what with ash only trying to get direct hits on deweeble and deweeble dodging quickly because of the light rock material on its back not weighing it down though you will admit ash did get a few good hits on deweeble. But it’s all for not as deweeble quickly knocking tepig out making burgh the winner of the first round.
Cilan commented on Burgh’s technique noting how he used the move rock wrecker so close to tepig.
“Do you think he lured tepig in closer to him?” Iris was quick to pick up on the sneaky move.
“That’s how burgh battles everyone and it helps with how straightforward Ash’s style is on the battlefield makes him easier to get a surprise attack” jumping in on the conversation, after watching so many battles and hundreds of people falling for the same thing you figured ash would too.
“ I take it you’ve seen this a lot (y/n)?” Cilan cocked his head to look at you
“Yeah I’m surprised Ash managed to get that far with tepig” looking over to see Ash call tepig back into his Pokeball, “So Cilan what other pokemon does Ash have, he’s gonna need something good to beat Burgh”
Cilan contemplated it for a moment “ Well he’d either have to go with his oshawott with its water type moves or Pikachu with his iron tail”.
Ash got ready to try fighting deweeble again. The three of you turn back to face the arena only to see Ash call out for his sewaddle, now you have seen a lot of weird combinations in the past but this was crazy enough that you actually fell back on the fence and into the garden behind you out of shock. Thankfully Cilan turned around and hopped over to help you up.
“I guess nobody is ever ready for Ash’s battle style!” Cilan offered as he pulled you back into the concrete fence.
“No kidding, I’ve seen a lot of battles but I think this takes the cake” regaining your balance while holding onto his shoulder to not fall.
With that Ash took direct attacks against deweeble, having far better luck this time, when rocks got thrown his way sewaddle could use its silk to throw them back. Sewaddle was much faster than tepig and got the jump on deweeble knocking its shell off leaving it open to attacks. So with one good tackle deweeble was knocked out. Honestly, this was one of the better battles you’ve seen. Ash was all over the place with his battle style and it was entertaining to watch. The battle went on for a while but to your amazement, Ash won getting his 3rd gym badge and his sewaddle had evolved into a swadloon leaving him more than happy afterward. Though now is when you realized that the three of them would be moving on to the next city soon and the thought of not getting to go out and adventure with them made you sad.
After the battle, you all walked back to their hotel, you got to point out some of your favorite spots and buildings around the city, cilan ask questions about them. Then when you actually got to the hotel Ash and Iris headed in immediately wanting to get a good night’s rest. You and Cilan stayed outside talking.
“So where do you guys think you’ll be going next?” It did matter to you where they went, you just wanted to come with them.
“I’ll take it Ash wants to get to Nambasa city as soon as possible so that’s where will set off to” Cilan remembers how pushy Ash was about getting to Nambasa before, “You know, you could always come with us I’m sure Ash and Iris wouldn’t mind!”
You did consider coming with them, your mom might not be the biggest fan of it. If you could convince her to let you travel but it’s going to take a lot of negotiating with her.
“I might just take you up on that offer, if I’m able to come along I’ll be waiting here for you in the morning” You couldn’t make any promises but you were going to try your best to go.
“Well then I’ll see you in the morning” cilan gave with a soft smiling reaching down to grab your hand bringing it to his lips with a soft kiss “ma chérie”
Your heart stopped for a moment, more out of surprise, this was the most affection anyone had ever shown you outside of your family.
“Well aren’t you mister fancy?” it was honestly the only thing you could think of.
You both shared a laugh and said your good nights before going separate ways. You kept your composure together until you turned the corner and out of sight at which point you ran back to your house with the fattest grin on your face. Mothers anger be damned you were going with them. Besides it isn’t that crazy for someone your age to be traveling the region. Look at Ash, he’s from a different region entirely. When you actually got home your mom was waiting for you, asked how everything went and that's when you told her your idea.
“You want to travel? But what about your dream of being a gym leader surely Burgh could help you with that” putting down her glass of water on the table, she moved the conversation from the living room to the kitchen.
“I know I still want to be a gym leader but how can I be a good gym leader if I don’t see what else the region has to offer?” It was a 50/50 chance of working, and you weren’t that wrong there were still so many pokemon to see.
“I don’t know, after the whole venipede attack the other day I don’t want you to get hurt” a hint of desperation in her voice.
“But mom I handled it! And I had my new friends with me. Cilan had my back that whole time!” You can take care of yourself. You grew up running around the woods facing whatever it had to throw at you and you would be traveling with a group. It couldn't be that bad.
“Stubborn as always huh? Just like your father, okay I’ll cut you a deal you can travel but you have to message me at least once a day so I know you are safe” Giving you a soft smile, things would go either of two ways you would run off in the night without saying anything, or you would stay in the city and pout about it forever.
“Wait really!? Like I can actually go?” Your mom has always been protective of you, you thought for sure that she would never let you.
With a small chuckle, your mom got up from the table walking to her office room down the hall. You followed closely behind. In her office was a little closet that you were told to never open, this was the first time you have ever seen the inside and when she opened it you saw travel packs and sleeping bags,
“Like I said just like your father, we first met while traveling, when we decided to settle down here in Castillia we kept out old packs” Your mom grabbed one of the packs, it was a little worn and made of dark green fabric with patches all over.
“This was your father's and I’m sure he would want you to have it for your adventure” turning to hand it to you.
You ran your fingers across the front and over the many patches scattered across “So dad collected patches too?” You weren’t as close to your dad as you wished, he died when you were young just after giving you your first pokemon, he said he couldn’t wait to see you become a great fighter and have your own gym. At this point you were trying not to cry.
Your mom stepped forward standing in front of you, she raised her hand to caress your cheek and pulled you into a tight hug.
“All he ever wanted was for you to have your own adventure, and that's all I want for you sweetheart, I’m still going to worry about you but that shouldn’t hold you back” hugging you tighter. Whispering ‘I love you’ to each other she handed you the matching sleeping bag. It was starting to get darker out and she wanted you to get enough sleep for tomorrow.
Though you couldn’t get much sleep, you were too excited about getting to travel and see everything. Though after much rolling around and pillow flipping you drifted into a dreamless sleep.
When you woke up it was just before sunrise, your mother came in to get you up and ready with the pack full of everything you would need for a journey even putting an ungodly amount of snacks and a lot of both her and your fathers' old gear. After getting everything ready to go your mom insisted she walks you to the hotel to see you off. You definitely needed it, your nerves were jumbled up and as much as you were excited it was still scary this would be the first time you left Castillia City. Your mom told you stories from her travels with your dad sharing a laugh over the memories. Arriving in front of the hotel you turned towards each other and and shared one last hug, pulling apart she handed you one final object, it was a pocket watch, made out of black metal and a thin silver chain the words ``Time stops for nobody” were carved across, opening the watch showed to be a normal watch though it had blue and white highlights.
“It was a gift your father gave me when we first got together, I want you to have it and take care of it okay?” her voice was quiet and her eyes were glossed over.
"I will mom and thank you for letting me do this" giving a cheeky smile back at her.
Not long after Cilan, Ash, and Iris came out, ready to get back on the road. Cilan was exceptionally happy to see you there waiting.
Hey (y/n) glad to see you could make it" ash ran up to you. Cilan and Iris close behind.
"Ah, so this must be that boy Ash you said was challenging Burgh?" Another reason your mom tagged along to see you off was so she would know what the others looked like, still ever protective.
"That's right ma'am, I even won my battle first try!" Guess Ash was still riding his high from yesterday's battle, pikachu giving a little cheer of its own.
She laughed at his enthusiasm “Well I must say I haven’t seen anyone that excited after a battle! I’ll have to catch up with Burgh and ask”. Your mom turned to face everybody.
“Please watch each other back, I still worry about my little ball of fury here and I want them back safe” she could tell they were just a group of kids, they reminded her of herself when she was younger.
“We’ve had each other back this far, we'll be even stronger with one more to the team!” Cilan stepped up wanting to ease your mothers' nerves.
Giving a hefty sigh your mother let go of you “Okay, make sure you take care of that pocket watch and message me, please? I love you” Kissing your forehead, you hug her and saying ‘i love you’ too.
With that everyone set off to leave, waving goodbye to your mom one last time as you lost sight of her. A new bigger adventure ahead, bigger than you could have ever hoped for.
Iris the tease she was “So, little ball of fury? What's that all about”
“Oh uhh, I use to be a bit of a fighter when I was younger, still kinda am, but I would get in fights because when other kids in school would get picked on I jumped in to help them get away which would end in a fight with the bullies” little bit of a fib, you would jump in without a thought and everyone knew it so people would bait you into fight.
“Wow really? What did your mom think about you getting into fights all the time?” Iris questioned further.
“Eh she wasn’t that happy with me, said I’d get myself into a big mess one of these days if I couldn’t cool my attitude, but around that time is when Burgh let me help in the gym and tend to the plants helped keep me out of trouble” thinking back your mom is probably the one that asked burgh if you could go to the gym, considering you wanted to be a gym leader one day.
“Glad to know that you found a good outlet for your anger, being able to concentrate emotions into a single thing can do wonders!” Cilan chipped in.
It was nice getting to talk about this stuff, everyone started talking about their favorite thing to do, everyone had something different even Pikachu and Axew started making noise no doubt trying to share their thing. It was a great start to the journey and it could only get better.
Done and Done, hope ya'll enjoy this. Again if there are any errors in the chapter let me know, I try my best to triple-check but things slip through the cracks sometimes.
@otaku-explosion request: #8 Fem s/o slapping/punching/etc (you get the point) whichever boy of your choosing from (Izuku, Bakugou, Eijirou) then promptly kissing them or doing something else in affection then saying something like "I love you, but if you ever pull a stunt like that again shit is going down" these boys would drive me nuts doing the stuff they do. whether its ridiculous, dangerous, or both
A/n: I love all your requests so much you genius.
Bakugo:
"Don't you fucking dare!" You yelled at your idiot of a boyfriend, knowing what that glint in his eyes meant. You had seen it all too many times before.
He was about to run head first into a villain fight and go ham without even thinking of a plan first.
It was how he always liked to do things, fighting first and thinking later. But right now, after having assessed the situation, you decided it was too dangerous, and there was no way you were letting him run headlong into certain doom without a plan this time.
You usually trusted his instincts, they were very impressive. He wasn’t much for thinking strategies but he was smart enough to think and fight at the same time. So you always trusted him not to do anything  too stupid, but this time felt different somehow and you didn’t like it.
“Stay here, it’s dangerous.” Bakugo said, completely ignoring your previous comment.
“Uh! yeah! I know! That's why I'm telling you not to go- Katsuki!” you yelled at him as he ran out into the chaos, ignoring you once again.
You could not believe that he had just completely ignored you- or, no, you could believe that. When in battle he always became twice as stubborn than he usually was.
You were just in shock at how stupid he was being right now.
Of course, you knew he was strong but something but you couldn't shake the feeling that you were running into a trap.
And as much as you trusted Bakugos instincts; you trusted yours more.
You two had been paired off from the main group of heroes when they got word of the villains splitting up, but you were skeptical as to why this particular villain was wandering around alone?
Even if your group splits up, the smart thing to do would be to split up into smaller groups rather than go off on your own and try to take on the heroes one by one.
It just didn’t sit right with you. These villains might be strong but even an idiot would know better than to try and take down pro heroes alone.
You peaked over the wall you had been hiding behind to watch as Katsuki used a sneak attack to blow the villain through the wall of the building.
You would have smiled proudly at your boyfriend but it was too easy for your liking.
He seemed to notice that too and stayed on guard.
He sent you a singular look and you knew to stay back. It was best to stay hidden in case more villains showed up.
Then you could at least take the upper hand by surprising them.
This was how you two worked. He was a head on fighter with amazing strength, and you were the sneaky, strategic one. All of these traits paired together made the both of you an unstoppable duo.
It didn't take much longer for your suspicions to be confirmed.
Two more villains jumped out at Katsuki, and the one he had put through a wall jumped back up.
He had used himself as a dummy to lure out the heroes!
"Fucking DAMMIT!" You heard your boyfriend yell in annoyance.
Your heart jumped into your throat as you watched him take on three strong villains alone.
You hated this, why couldn't he just have stayed back and listened to you?
Either way, you had to wait for him to signal for you to jump in.
Bakugo made sure that all three of them were focused on fighting him, and when you had the perfect opportunity to jump in he gave you the signal.
When you snuck over to them you were able to catch them off guard enough to immediately take one of them out using your quirk. Though the other two seemed like they were going to be a lot harder to take down.
Their movements were fast, and their punches were strong.
Though, they still weren't good enough for the strongest power couple of pro heroes.
You two were most known for being the strongest partners in the industry. So it wasn't a surprise when you kicked their asses.
Despite your victory that didn't mean to say you left with no injuries.
Right as you finished tying them up more pro heroes showed, letting you both know it was over and the heroes had won. All that was left to do now was go get your injuries looked at.
You both sat down on the edge of the entrance to an ambulance, having your injuries looked at.
"Looks like you only left with minor injuries!" The paramedic smiled.
"Hmm. You might want to wait a minute?" You grinned all-too-innocently over at your boyfriend.
"What are you talking about babe- OW! WHAT THE FUCK!?"
Bakugo yelled as you leaned across and punched him in his arm as hard as you could.
"That's for not listening to me!! I was worried sick! Honestly!! You should know better than to run head first into danger like that! I know you're stubborn but my god-"
"Hey- We won didn't we-"
"Don't interrupt me!" You cut him off. "You ever do that shit again and I'll kill you myself!!"
At this point the paramedic had rushed off, not that you could blame her. You wouldn’t want to be in between a couples argument either.
Especially not this couple
“What do you want me to do? Say I’m sorry for doing my job?”
You huffed and crossed your arms over your chest. “That would be a good start.”
He groaned and threw his head back, feeling exhausted from the conversation. You were lucky he loved you enough to actually swallow down his pride for you. “Fine- god you’re hard work sometimes- I’m sorry, happy now dumbass?”
You mouth fe agape. “Oh wow- you actually apologised.”
“HUH!?”
You let out a laugh at his expression which only seemed to tick him off more.
“I’d never actually make you apologise for doing your job- though it’s sweet you still did~.”
He stared at you in disbelief. Were you trying to piss him off? Why the hell were you making him say sorry and then laughing at him!? From the corner of his eye he noticed a small cloud of grey smoke. He glanced down at his hands to see them smoking.
He released a sigh in order to calm himself down, something he had gotten considerably better at doing since those school days. He crossed his arms, hiding his hands in his armpits in an attempt to stop the smoke.
He was used to this behaviour from you, you always liked to keep him on his toes and test his patience.
Though… for some reason, he didn’t mind as much when you were annoying him. If it were someone else he probably would have blown then into the ground by now.
In a way, he kind of liked how you challenged him. It kept your relationship unpredictable and interesting.
As he was grumbling to himself he didn’t notice you crawling over to him and was caught off guard when he felt a kiss placed onto his lips.
He looked at you with irritated eyes and you laughed again, noting that he was hiding some embarrassment in there too. The way that his ears tinged red at the sudden affection made your heart melt. He could be cute when he wanted to be- mostly when he wasn’t talking.
You sat beside him and curled into his side.
“You had me worried, idiot…” you muttered softly into his chest.
He sighed again and put an arm around you. “You shouldn’t worry.”
“I know, You can take care of yourself, but sometimes I panic when I see you running into danger.”
He knew exactly what you meant, Whenever he heard you were caught in the midst of a big fight or whenever he saw you on the news his heart always stopped for a moment. It was hard being heroes and dating at the same time. But at the end of the day, you both knew you were too strong for some low life villains to defeat you- Or at least that’s what you both told yourself to make it easier.
In all honesty, you had each other's backs and you knew as long as you were together you’d both work your hardest to make sure nothing bad happens.
You just had to have a lot of faith and trust in each other.
“Luckily, you’ll have me to back you up.” You looked up at him and sent him a sly smile which, in turn, made him roll his eyes.
“Lucky? My ‘back up’ just punched me!” He backfired.
“Don’t pretend it hurt!” you laughed, You weren’t all that strong, and you knew fine well he had trained himself to be able to withstand strong hits. Even your worst punch could barely make him flinch. As you had learned from all the training you did together.
Bakugo chuckled. “You’re right, it was weak.”
You huffed through your nose, turning your head from him. “You’re also lucky I love you.”
You felt two lips being placed onto your cheek and you blushed when you felt his warm breath hit your ear. "I love you too."
Midoriya:
You carelessly ran through the halls of the hospital, often being yelled at by the staff you passed. A few of them had tried to stop you before you caused some sort of damage but you couldn't stop- even if you wanted to, you couldn't find it in yourself to slow down.
You knew you shouldn't be running like this in a hospital but you didn't care! Worry had completely overtaken all of your senses and all you wanted was to see that messy green hair you loved and those sparkling, jade eyes.
After getting the phone call to tell you that your boyfriend was in hospital, yet again, for being reckless, you dashed over here as fast as you could and you had no intent to stop until you got to him. You had no idea what condition he would be in, you didn't even know if he was awake!
As you finally arrived at his room you noticed the door was open and you skidded inside, your body hit against the door frame as you came to a rough stop. You panted heavily as you leaned against the door frame, your eyes trailed over to your boyfriend who was currently sitting up in the bed.
He looked alarmed that you had burst in here like you did. He was expecting you to show up any minute but not to fly through the door!
His left arm was in a sling and both his legs were bandaged up along with his head. It looked like Recovery girl had already been here, but he still looked pretty beaten up.
You shivered, not wanting to imagine what he had looked like before the treatment.
"Y/n!! You're here-"
His bright smile from seeing you was immediately replaced with an expression of shock as you ran over to his side and punched him right in his uninjured arm.
"Ow! What-"
"Do you know how worried I was!?" Your voice cracked as you tried to cover your tear filled eyes with your hair. “They didn’t even tell me what happened! All I knew was that you were seriously hurt! Do you know how scary that was!?”
You didn't want him to see you crying. You had always promised to support him ever since you were little. You told yourself that no matter what danger you two found yourself in you would never stand in his way of being a hero.
But he was just so reckless sometimes!!
Today had been too much for you to handle, it had tested your strength, it had tested your ability to not break down, but it turns out you weren't as strong as you thought.
For a second, when you received that terrifying phone call, you thought they were going to tell you he had died, or didn't have long to live. You had never felt such a numbing pain in your whole life.
You were used to getting phone calls from the hospital but usually it was from Izuku himself, telling you what had happened and that he was ok. So when you got a call from a doctor telling you he was currently undergoing surgery you panicked.
When they told you he was going to be ok you felt like you could breathe again, but the numbing emotion never left you. The whole journey to the hospital you felt like you were in a daze.
In fact, you could barely remember how you got here. It was like your body was on auto-pilot. All you could focus on was your own pounding heartbeat.
"Y/n…"
You felt a large hand come up to cup your cheek and lift your head up. It was only when you met his green eyes that you realised your vision had become blurry from the tears welling in your eyes.
When you shut your eyes they finally fell. You leaned into his hand, grabbing his forearm with both of your hands and holding him close. He was alive, it was ok. There was no reason to be upset.
So why were you still crying?
You felt the pad of his thumb gently caress your cheek, wiping away the tears. He stared at you with a heartbroken expression. He hated doing this to you. He hated being the reason you had to worry so much. He had honestly expected you to leave him by now. You deserved so much better and yet… you stayed.
He didn’t know why. Why was he worth this to you? You were way too good for him.
"I thought you died." You whispered helplessly.
You didn't even have the chance to open your eyes before you felt the hand leave your cheek and wrap around your waist.
He pulled you down into his chest, holding you there protectively as you cried into his shirt. You welcomed the hug whole heartedly and made yourself comfortable on the bed beside him.
"I know I said I would always support you but today was too much." You lifted your head from his chest so you could smash your lips against his. It was like a way of telling yourself he was still alive. He was ok and you didn't need to worry anymore.
"I love you so much, but if you ever do something so reckless like that again then villains would be the least of your worries." You joked with a small smile, though your eyes were still tear filled.  You wanted to lighten the mood. The last thing he needed after such a big fight was to be surrounded with more sadness.
Your dazed boyfriend shook his head. It seemed the kiss had caught him off guard.
He let out a soft laugh as his fingers gently ran through your hair. "I believe you, i'll make sure to keep that in mind."
Oh yeah, he had seen your "bad" side on a few occasions. Luckily he had never been the target of your wrath and he fully intended to keep it that way.
He never wanted to be the reason you were upset.
As he looked down at your teary eyes he made a mental note to try harder for you. To be more careful so you didn’t have to worry as much. He would work himself down to the bone if it meant you would never have to feel this way again.
"I'm so sorry I scared you princess. I'll try to be more careful."
You smiled at him before stuffing your face back into his chest. "No you won't."
His lips parted in shock at your response.
You knew him too well. When he's in the heat of battle there is no stopping him. He's like a completely different person and if he has to take a risk to save someone's life you knew he would always do it without a second thought.
You knew exactly what you were getting into when you started dating him. That's why you always did your best to never get upset when he got hurt or did something stupid.
He couldn't find it in him to reply, he didn’t know what to say. You were right, he would probably do this again at some point. Of course he wasn’t planning to, but it was just in his nature, when the times called for dangerous plans and reckless actions- he had to do it. Otherwise how could he call himself a hero?
But- god did he hate worrying you. He hated when you would have to see him like this.
And that’s exactly why he needed to get stronger. The stronger he was then the less likely it was he would be hurt this bad again and finally his precious loved ones could live in peace.
Of course you had your fair share of worrying him. You could be pretty reckless too, but it was all a part of the job description. It was something you both had to learn to overlook, you loved each other enough to deal with the worry.
"I'm sorry for punching you." You muttered into his shirt after a while of silence. He was still petting your hair with his uninjured hand, it was comforting.
You heard him chuckle. "You should be, I knew you were getting stronger lately but ouch! You have one mean right hook on you." He joked, feeling happy when you laughed into his shirt.
Making you smile was always one of his top priorities. It was especially important if he was the reason you were sad in the first place.
When you lifted your head again, you rested your chin on his chest as you sent him a soft glare. "Yeah, so make sure you're more careful. I don't want to have to do it again."
"Trust me, I don't want to have to feel that again." He rolled his shoulder, the stinging still lingering. "But I did deserve it this time… I mean, what kind of boyfriend makes their girlfriend cry like that?"
Uh oh, it seemed he was starting to blame himself for everything. Typical izuku. But there was no way you were allowing this on your watch!
"The heroic kind?" You tilted your head. "I know I might have been upset but you still saved all those people and single handedly stopped the villain, right? Or at least that’s what the news reporters are saying. So Don't beat yourself up. You're a true hero."
His cheeks turned red as he shyly shifted his eyes away. You smiled when seeing him trying to hold back a smile and failing miserably. It was so adorable!
“For some reason, it always sounds more special when you call me that." He pressed a kiss to your forehead.
"A hero?"
He nodded, his eyes softening as your noses rubbed gently in a light eskimo kiss. "Thank you, honey. I promise, I'm going to get stronger for you. So you don't have to worry anymore."
Kirishima:
The blaring sound of sirens and flashing lights surrounded you as you finally made it onto the scene. They were slightly overwhelming you in your panicked state. This is the aftermath of what you had seen go down on tv, it was awful.. Much worse than what the cameras were able to show.
That only worried you more.
Right now, you were only looking for one guy. The same guy that had given you a million heart attacks in just one afternoon while simultaneously saving the day.
There were so many people around here you were worried it would take a lot longer than you anticipated to find him.
Everyone from pro heroes to police and ambulance crew were here. It was a pretty big crowd and it didn’t help that so many of them were rushing around.
You were careful not to get in their way, you didn't want to make things worse. From what it seemed the situation wasn’t great already and you were sure they wouldn’t appreciate a frantic person rushing around to find their boyfriend.
Honestly, you think it would be easy to spot bright red, spiky hair in a crowd, but nope.
You looked through every ambulance, you asked every pro hero you passed but you still couldn't find him and the worry was starting to grow, or well, more so than it was before.
You anxiously fiddled with your hands as you walked around calling out for him. Though it might be unlikely he would hear you over all the noise.
Walking around the scene alone with nothing but your thoughts to keep you company wasn’t helping either.
You remembered seeing the mass destruction of the villains quirk on Tv and your boyfriend was one of the heroes in the center of it all. That was the last thing you saw before the camera cut out and you rushed out of your shared home to run to his location. You had been happy to see it was over when you arrived. The villains had been successfully captured and locked away.
But where was Kirishima!?
Oh god, what if he was hurt!? What if he was trapped somewhere!? What if he was kidnapped or- worse! Maybe they already had to take him to hospital because he was so badly injured?!
Your thoughts were clouded with bad images and it made a lump rise in your throat. You felt your eyes stinging with tears and you had to shake your head to keep it together.
No, no. You've got to stay strong. Maybe he was just being seen by a doctor- you haven't checked everywhere yet. There was no need to worry!! But what if he-
"Hey babe! What are you doing he- oof." he was cut off as you instantly spun around at the sound of his voice and tackled him into a tight hug.
Though he was caught off guard he was able to catch himself, and you, from falling onto the ground.
He was surprised to look down and see you shaking as you buried yourself in his chest. He didn't know what to say, what had shaken you up this badly? His arms came around to encase you into a tight hug, maybe that was all you needed right now.
"I was watching on Tv and all I saw was you running in and then that big cloud of smoke. Then the camera went off and I assumed the worst. I know you can take care of yourself but-"
So that's what this was about? His chest began to ache at the thought of you being at home and having to helplessly watch something so scary.
His arms around you tightened. One hand holding your head to his chest as the other stayed on your waist.
It was as if he was trying to shield you from the rest of the world- and it was so comforting.
"Hey! Hey! It's ok. I'm fine. I appreciate the worry, and I'm sorry for scaring you like that." He pulled back just enough for you to be able to look up and see his smiling face. "But I'm ok! See? Only a few little scratches!" He reassured you before pulling you back into his tight embrace.
"Honestly? I would've done the same thing if I was in your position! I would've freaked out too, but you don't have to be scared anymore."
You clung onto him as if your life depended on it. You were filled with such relief that you weren't even sure you were crying from sadness anymore. It was more happy crying- happy that he was alive.
"Luckily for us, Everything went pretty well- though… I guess I was pretty reckless back there." He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck.
You weren't sure what it was about his acknowledging that he was reckless but I sort of ticked you off. If he knew it was reckless then why did he do it!? He should've been more careful!! There were so many other pros on the scene!! Why did he try to take it all on alone!?
You pulled back from the hug and punched his arm.
"Wh-"
"Damn right you were reckless!! What were you even thinking!? You could've been seriously hurt!"
"But babe I-"
"No! Shut up!" You cut him off again by roughly grabbing his collar and pulling him down to meet your lips in a rough, heated kiss.
"You ever pull a stunt like that again you'll be in big trouble mister!" You glared up at him.
"O-ok." He blinked, completely dazed at what had just happened. All your emotions coming out in one big cluster and he couldn’t keep up.
You were happy he was alive and wanted to kiss him all over his stupid face but you always wanted to punch him again for scaring you like he did!
However, all kirishima could think about was that he found this assertiveness kind of hot.
You bit the inside of your cheek as you looked away from him when you realised he was no longer listening to you. He was staring at you with a dazed look, his cheeks were red and you could only wonder why he was thinking about it.
The way he was looking at you was making you blush.
"Did you even feel that punch?"
He snapped out of his thoughts and laughed at the question.
He swung an arm around you. "Not really, but that's not to say you're not strong. You're super strong! I just have a high pain tolerance is all!"
You smiled up at him, cupping his cheeks with your hands. "I know. I have such a strong and manly boyfriend." You gushed and his cheeks turned red. Once again your mood had changed. Today has been a crazy day for your emotions and you couldn't decide whether to be happy or mad at him.
"H-hah- b-babe not in front of the guys." He said from embarrassment.
“Huh?” you questioned, following his eyes and turning around to find kaminari and sero making kissy faces at him.
You laughed.
It was rare for him to get embarrassed, he wasn't someone who cared about pda. In fact, he was usually completely open with showing love and affection for you in public.
This was a rare, and very cute, side of him.
"Looks like you got told huh dude?" Sero laughed at him, having witnessed you scolding him.
"Oh don't even get me started on you two!" You sent them a glare which immediately prompted them to shut up. "I saw you both being just as careless back there!"
"Oh uh- well…" kaminari started as they both slowly backed away from you, you could see they regretted making their previous comments and decided to ditch before you scolded them too.
You laughed as you watched them go and turned back to Kiri who was staring at you with a goofy grin.
"Have you been checked over for injuries? Are you ready to go home."
"Oh I'm more than ready to go home." He muttered in a low husky voice. You blinked twice at the statement.
"Huh? What's that mean?- and what's with that face!?"
He stepped closer to you and swung an arm around your waist, pulling you in close and leaning down to mutter in your ear.
"You're kinda hot when you're mad."
A protective!Inudad drabble
I actually wrote this a couple weeks ago, but I was inspired to post it today because of all the amazing Inudad posts/headcannons/art that are going around. Specifically, this post by @littlepumkinseed , as well as this amazing fanart by @beanyboobee!
This is just a random quick oneshot I thought of, because we all know Inuyasha would be the overprotective “don’t touch my daughter or I’ll kill you” type of dad. I wondered what he would be like if Moroha and Hisui had to go on an extended demon-slaying mission alone. He’d probably be freaking out because of how well he knows Miroku and his lechery. But I also wanted to touch on Moroha’s reaction and the traits she inherited from her father. Plus I couldn’t help myself and threw in a tiny bit of Inukag fluff at the end.
This is canon-divergent from Yashahime because none of the families were ever separated and Moroha works with Hisui as a demon slayer.
I threw this together pretty quickly, so it might not have the best writing/editing/formatting etc. I’ve actually never posted anything I’ve written in any fandom before, but I felt like sharing this so here goes!
----------------------------
Kagome and Moroha bustled around their family hut, gathering last-minute herbs and food and double checking that Moroha had everything ready for her upcoming journey with Hisui. Inuyasha stood in the corner with his arms crossed and an irritated look on his face. He tapped his foot on the ground and looked up as Hisui entered the hut.
“Good morning, Kagome, Inuyasha” he said cheerfully while nodding in their direction. “Ready to go, Moroha?”
“Yup, just about!” She answered, throwing a few more items into her rucksack.
Inuyasha watched from the corner, looking Hisui up and down. His best friend’s son was handsome, confident, and strong. He had known him since he was born, but that didn’t make him feel any better about the situation. Anyone taking his daughter away from him was automatically a threat.
Moroha tied the strings of her rucksack and slung it over her shoulder. She rested her hand on her sword that was sheathed at her side. “Alright, I think I have everything. Let’s go!” She turned to her parents. “Bye mom and dad, we’ll be back in a few days or so! Love you!”
Kagome hugged her daughter. “Love you too. Please be safe and look out for each other!”
Inuyasha couldn’t stand it, he had to say something. He emerged from the corner to stand in the middle of the hut.
“Hang on a minute.”
Moroha and Hisui were already halfway out the door but stopped dead in their tracks at his commanding tone. Moroha turned around slowly and scowled at her father, seemingly already knowing what was coming.
“Tell me exactly what it is you two are doing again?”
Moroha rolled her eyes. “I’ve already told you a million times, there is a remote village that requested our help with slaying a demon.”
“Uh-huh. And why is it that the two of you are going alone?” Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at them.
“Because everyone else on our team is busy with other missions!” Moroha glared at her father. They had already been through this.
“Is there a problem, Uncle Inuyasha?” Hisui asked innocently.
Inuyasha addressed Hisui directly. “Don’t get me wrong, kid, I like you and all. I’ve known you since you were born. But let’s just say that I know your father pretty damn well too. I know how he can be...with women. I don’t know what kinds of things he might have taught you, but if you so much as think a single lecherous thought about my daughter, so help me I’ll...” He raised his claws in front of him in a menacing way.
Kagome stepped in front of him and put her hands on Inuyasha’s chest. “Inuyasha, calm down! Miroku has gotten much better since he married Sango, you know that. They will be fine!”
Inuyasha looked around Kagome to continue glaring at Hisui. “Whatever. Just don’t try anything funny with her, got it? Or you’ll have me to answer to.” He cracked his knuckles to emphasize his point. Kagome rolled her eyes.
Moroha looked exasperated and a faint blush appeared on her cheeks. “Dad! It’s not like that! Plus, you already know I can take care of myself.” She smiled slightly and rested her hand on the handle of her sword.
“If he tries anything…” She unsheathed her sword and swung it around to rest flush against Hisui’s wrist in one swift motion. “...I’ll cut his hands clean off!” Hisui looked terrified, but Moroha just laughed gleefully and put her sword back in its sheath.
Inuyasha laughed too, feeling a little bit better. “Heh, that’s my girl!” He smiled and clapped a hand on her shoulder. “Alright, have fun you two...but not too much fun.” He shot one last glare at Hisui, who still looked a little freaked out by Moroha and Inuyasha laughing at the thought of cutting his hands off.
“Oh and be careful fighting that demon,” Inuyasha added as an afterthought.
“Don’t worry so much, Dad, we’ll be fine,” Moroha said cheerfully. She stood on her tiptoes to give her father a quick kiss on the cheek before turning to leave with Hisui.
As they walked out of the hut, Kagome sighed and shook her head, her hands still lightly resting on her husband’s chest from her earlier attempt to keep him in line.
He growled a little and asked, “What?”
“I just wish you hadn’t passed some of your more violent tendencies onto our daughter is all.” Kagome gave Inuyasha a look and his ears flattened slightly against his head. He knew he had maybe given her some bad habits, but he couldn’t help but be overprotective of his little girl. He was constantly battling with the urge to tear apart anyone who so much as looked at her wrong.
Kagome saw the guilt flash across his face and decided to ease up a bit. “But I guess I am glad that I don’t have to worry about her so much. She clearly knows how to take care of herself because of you. We’re pretty lucky to have you watching out for us all the time” Kagome smiled and imitated Moroha by standing on her tiptoes to kiss Inuyasha on the cheek.
Inuyasha blushed a little and wrapped his arms around his wife, pulling her into his chest. Maybe I’m not always the perfect father, he thought, but at least I have two perfect girls in my life.
lost in space || s.r
summary: post-IW in which you’re stuck on the ship with tony and nebula. knowing you didn’t have much time left before oxygen levels ran out for good, you decide to send a final goodbye message to the man you’ve grown to love over the past several years.
words: ~2.1k
warnings: angst in the beginning, fluff, major feels, worried steve ;-p
a/n: i took inspo for another oneshot like this that i read but then i got a bunch of new related ideas, so here we go!
Tumblr media
22 days.
22 days of drifting through empty space with Tony and Nebula.
After day 16, you began losing hope in returning home. Nobody had to say anything for you to put two and two together and realize you didn't have much longer before what little was left of your oxygen supply ran out. So this had the three of you accepting you wouldn't make it through, opting to make the best of the time you had left. Your breathing became more heavy and labored, as the act of taking a single breath had now grown more difficult with each passing minute.
While she didn't want to admit it, Nebula thought having you and Tony by her side was much better than imagining being alone. It was an unspoken agreement that you all enjoyed each others' company; seeing you were all you had now after losing almost everything.
You exhaled as you sat in the cockpit of the ship, chin resting in your hand as you gazed out the glass dome and took in the eerie yet beautiful sight that space had to offer.
Feeling a rough hand clasp your shoulder, you turned around to see Tony standing there.
"Hey," he smiled softly, holding his remaining granola bar out to you. "You haven't eaten all day. Why don't you take the rest of this."
"No, I can't do that," you shook your head. "You need to eat, too."
"Your health is just as important, Y/N. You've lost too much weight in these past three weeks."
"Haven't we all."
"Just take it."
Knowing he wasn't going to stop arguing, you mumbled a 'thank you' and took the bar from him, taking a small bite.
You pushed yourself out from your chair and took a seat next to him, lowering yourself to the ground on the steps as he leaned his helmet against the wall.
"What are you doing?"
"Leaving them a message. In case things go wrong, and...we don't make it," he replied as he took in a deep breath and began fiddling with the helmet, flicking a switch inside it before tapping its' side, projecting a blue light over you two.
"Tony...we're literally going to die. I don't get why you're doing this, Steve and the others probably think we're already dead..."
"Might as well say a last good bye, then. And, recording...is this thing on?" He tapped the side of the helmet again. "Hey, Miss Potts...Pep. If you find this recording, don't post it on social media. It's gonna be a real tear-jerker. I don't know if you're ever going to see these. I don't even know if you're...if you're still...Oh, god. I hope so. Today is day 21, uh..."
"22," you corrected as you leaned back against the wall. “Or 23. Wait no, 22.”
"Yeah, 22. You know, if it wasn't for the existential terror of staring into a void of space, I'd say I'm feeling better today. The infection's run its course, thanks to the blue meanie back there."
"You’d love her. She’s very practical," you added, "Only a tiny bit sadistic."
"Anyway...some fuel cells were cracked during battle, but we figured out a way to reverse the ion charge to buy ourselves about 48 hours of time. But it's now dead in the water. We're 1000 light years from the nearest 7-11. Oxygen will run out tomorrow. And that'll be it. And Pep, I...I know I said no more surprises, but I was really hoping to pull off one last one. But it looks like...well you know what it looks like. Don't feel bad about this. I mean, if you grovel for a couple of weeks, and then move on with enormous guilt. I should probably lie down. Please know that...when I drift off, I will think about you. Because it's always you."
You both fell into silence afterwards and you quickly looked away, squeezing your eyes shut in an attempt to try and stem the flow of tears that threatened to spill. Tony must've noticed the look on your face, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder as you stared blankly out ahead.
This really was it. When you imagined dying, you saw yourself going down on the battlefield, maybe jumping into the crossfire to save someone. Or simply passing in your sleep, dying of old age, anything but being unable to breathe.
You didn't think you'd meet your demise by running out of oxygen as you drifted mindlessly through space.
"Why don't you talk to Capsicle," Tony finally spoke up several minutes later. "This might be your only chance to get the closure you've wanted for so long."
"I'm not...it's not like that," you sighed, running a hand down your face. "He's just a friend."
"Don't bullshit me, Y/N. I know you're in love with him."
You let out another sigh, staring at his helmet blankly for a moment before opening your mouth to speak.
"Hey, Cap. You know, for the longest time, I was stuck trying to figure out what I was really meant to do, why I was ever placed on the earth to begin with," you spoke, looking out the glass at the darkness of space again, "When Fury first recruited me to the initiative, I was...I was in a dark place. And I didn't know how to get out. I felt stuck, frustrated...lost. I felt like I wasn't worthy or even the slightest bit prepared to take on the responsibilities of a hero because of all that I'd done in the past. I'd committed my fair share of sins, and...it all came down to a point where I almost lost the will to keep going, to keep living. My demons held me back from the perfect life I so desperately wanted and followed me everywhere I went. But then you came along, and for the first time in a long time, I started to hope, to...feel things again. You taught me that there was such a thing as second chances and forgiveness, that it's okay to make mistakes, and most importantly, I was meant to feel things; to love.
"You taught me that I was meant to feel happy, to allow myself the chance at living that burden-free life. That I didn't have to feel so doubtful when something good happened because all I'd ever learned was to feel suspicious when an event occurred in my favor. God, I really do owe you, huh? I honestly don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you. Maybe spiral down into an endless pit of despair and destruction? But really, I'm grateful that you walked into my life. I don't know how I'm supposed to repay you for all that you've given up for me.
You chuckled lightly and sniffled, hastily wiping at your eyes. "I know you're still out there. I hope you are. Because I know Captain America would never go down without a fight. This fight, though...you don't need to keep fighting. I've already accepted my fate. I'm going to die in less than two days...and I'm not bitter or mad at all. Death is inevitable, you know? If there's anything I took away from my torturous days in the Red Room, it was to never fear death because every girl would eventually meet her end. I'll be completely honest with myself here, I don't mind dying alongside these two...Tony and Nebula are some pretty great roommates. Who knew an alien could be so good at paper football?
The helmet flickered and you knew you didn't have much time left. "Steve...I don't want you to look back at all this in pain. I want you to live your best life...one that isn't filled with regret. And if this means moving on, starting anew...then do it. I want you to be happy. Be happy...for me.
Another tear fell, but this time you didn't bother to wipe it away. "I guess since my days are now numbered, I should let this weight off my chest...I love you, Steve Rogers. More than you'll ever know. I've been in love with you for as long as I can remember and I can only hope you feel the same but I guess I might never know that answer now...we can't always get our happy endings, can we?
"I'm so sorry I didn't get to say goodbye one last time, I love you," you choked out as the recording finally powered down and you let your head fall into your hands, the tears now flowing freely down your cheeks. The ache of longing to be with him echoed through the marrow of your bones; a chill wind trapped inside your heart and a million little glass shards tearing at your guts. Nausea swirled around in your stomach, head swimming with thoughts as your blood felt like tar, struggling to flow steadily.
Reaching over, Tony carefully grasped your hand, lacing your fingers together and squeezing gently. "It's gonna be okay," he muttered, eyes closed as you trained your gaze on the glass. "It's gonna be okay."
It could've been five minutes or five hours later, but suddenly, a vast white light illuminated the space surrounding you, forcing you to shut your eyes again.
As you focused on the bright ball of light, you could make out several features of a woman, though you initially thought you were dreaming. This couldn't be real. Was it?
"Hang in there, guys, I've got you," her voice flooded your ears, before she disappeared from view.
You opened your eyes a second time to see you were speeding towards Earth, the ship slowing down slightly as the familiar outline of America came into view.
Then, a steady jolt of the Benatar indicated you'd hit solid ground, in the middle of the field in the Avengers facility.
Nebula helped Tony up first, then you. The entry hatch opened, and you carefully stepped down the ramp together onto the grass.
It was pitch-black out, the only sources of light coming from the lights that projected from the compound, but it didn't take long for your vision to adjust. A small smile found its way onto your face as you saw six familiar figures came running towards you.
"Oh my God," Pepper cried, throwing her arms around Tony's neck and holding on as if her life depended on it. "Oh my God."
You smiled wistfully as you observed your surroundings, lowering yourself onto the ramp's last set, arms crossed over your chest as you realized just how cold it actually was.
A sudden warmth enveloped you and you felt someone's leather jacket being draped over your shoulders. Seeing Steve's familiar tall figure out of the corner of your eye, you moved over slightly to allow room for him to sit.
He looked over at you in concern, taking in your pale and malnourished figure. His chest ached at the sight.
"I'm okay," you found yourself saying, "don't worry about me."
"I've been worrying about you for the past twenty-two days," he replied, hands in his pockets, "I thought you were dead."
"I'm sorry."
"I missed you."
"I missed you too," you swallowed hard.
Steve let out a shaky breath and slid an arm around your waist, pulling you close as you rested your forehead on his shoulder.
"I thought you were dead," his voice cracked, "and if you really were, then...I don't know what I'd do."
“Me neither,” you breathed out. “God, I missed you so much.”
Then all of a sudden, the whole word seemed as if it was on standstill as his sapphire blue eyes bored into yours with such an intensity that sent a chill down your spine, keeping you firmly locked in place. And it utterly terrified you because you’d never felt something so intense like this before and he was the reason why you even felt this way to begin with.
And before you can protest against your own thoughts, you closed your fists around his shirt and gently tugged him towards you, closing the gap and kissing him. The sudden action took you both by surprise but Steve doesn’t waste any time in reacting, moving a hand from your cheek to the nape of your neck to kiss you back.
Everyone’s too exhausted, too busy feeling relieved at the fact that you returned safely to make a teasing comment towards yours and Steve’s relationship. They’ve secretly been betting for a while that you’d finally get together, though not in this exact way.
Until Rocket breaks the silence. “Nice welcome back gift, Agent.”
"You cockblock," Nebula flicks him in the head. "Let them have their moment, geez."
A Shred of Altruism for a ‘friend’
Context
This piece was something I had written for myself as part of a fanfiction series with my OC. Since I don't particularly feel too sure about posting it given my OC isn't crazy popular or anything, I figured I could just edit pronouns, names, ect so that maybe someone other than just me and three of my closest friends can enjoy it This takes place way before the events of part three, and before Dio's encounter with Enya AND Pucci. Basically, Reader is the first one Dio has encountered and is learning vauge amount of info on stands from. Spoilers/Content warnings ♡ Minor Stardust Crusaders/Stone Ocean spoilers ♡ Over Heaven book spoilers (would recommend reading before hand) ♡ CW:Dio not being an asshole lmao
♡ Technically not a warning, but their may be misplacements with POV's and pronoun usage. Translating this into an xReader wa difficult. «
Reader is 18+, a stand user (S/N=Stand Name), very SFW, gender neautrual pronouns used
»
The battle between you and the other user finally came to an end when you used all of your remaining energy to defeat him. S/N ability managed to bring them into retirement. All the while this happened, Dio could see just what was happening, how the two stands fought one another. He could only really feel the energy. However he was all around useless in that particular situation, seeing was one thing, but Dio did not yet have the stand—At least not yet. Dio had two options now that his companion was left unconscious. Leave you and be done with having to keep extra weight, or bring you back to the small hotel you had the both of you staying at. Dio obviously chose the latter. It was not out of altruism, or at least not in his mind, it was all simply done out of respect for all your efforts, sacrificing your chance of a ‘normal’ future to run off with him. Besides, in his weaker state you were his best bet to survive and learn about this new world quickly. Dio reached for your exhausted form, there was still a pulse, good. However, you were still out cold from the overexertion. When he finally was able to sneak into the hotel, he gently placed your body onto the bed. Technically speaking, his work here was done but his subconscious—The few times what shred of humanity he had—decided to take over. You were more than just a mere fling, or some kind of phase, your soul was what drew him to you like a moth to the flames. You had become his over your guy’s short time together, whether Dio was self aware of that or not was a different question. Dio manipulated your form around until he was able to get you under the covers. Thankfully he didn’t manage to disturb your rest. The blonde hastily scanned around the room. Water! You would probably need water whenever you’d awaken. He yanked a small rinse cup from the bathroom and set in onto the night stand beside you. Food. What did you have for food? Apparently not much given all he could find was an apple and banana. Not even an assortment of fruit in a bedroom for an upscale hotel? What a mockery. The vampire bit the side of his lip back and let out an exasperated huff. It had been years since the last time he worried about human nourishment like this. For him nourishment was far more simpler. This mere mortal of a human. How dare y/n make an omnipotent being like him do such humbling things for you. Who were you? However, none of that truly mattered when it came to his inconspicuous admiration for you. Even if he didn’t quite understand what it was, your power drew him to you. Y/n was angelic, beautifully devine in his eyes. The grace that radiated from you when you used that strange, raw power. It was something beyond what he even imagined being in the realm of possibility. It was very close to what he dreamt about during his time in his century long torpor state. But even with all y/n’s physical features, you were still knowledgeable and fascinating nonetheless—y/n was not one to boast about their knowledge demeaningly—but like a friend. However, even if this ‘feeling’, this ‘attraction’ was something of love or romance, Dio surely never felt such a thing in his life, at least not in a long time. The audacity of this human—A being below him—Having such an impact to make him so emotionally vulnerable just made his stomach turn. What nerve you had. And yet...He strangely didn’t mind this, this exotic feeling and emotion for him was somewhat of an indulgence. It was more or less as if y/n was the worthiest of his affections in the few times he did allow himself these moments. Y/n was holy, and he was obligated to give you that kind of credit. Dio took in a deep breath and sighed, glancing back down at your tired form. He scanned around, thinking of what else may help. He spotted your messy hair draped over your face and leaned forward, trying his best to wipe them from your eyes without awakening your. Just because he occasionally enjoyed being sweetly intimate, doesn’t mean he was good at it. Typically he lured in his prey sensuality, but tenderness and endearment were not things he often brushed up his skills on. ༺༻ Even if it was only a couple of hours, the silence was tedious. He really was missing having another person to speak to. He’d just spent far too long in silence, the thought of it drove him mad. He didn’t even notice himself tapping his foot in the air as he flipped through the glossy magazine pages. He knew that this power of theirs often resulted in a physical consequence, and the severity of that physical result was dependent on how much power you exerted. Dio could feel this power, but alas he could not see it. Not yet. Even though this was a setback in their plans, it was minor really. The battle brought them one step closer towards Dio finding the one who held the ability to grant these powers to the ones who weren’t naturally gifted like y/n was. Fortunately, Dio was able to force information out of the opposing user before he met his demise. Y/n’s e/c eyes softly fluttered open with a tired groan to follow. You tiredly threw a hand over your eyes with a deep breath. Dio perked up before you even had a chance to collect where you were and set down the cup of wine. “Y/n.” He said, an ounce of enthusiasm lacing his tone. It was almost as if he had completely just set aside his inner turmoil about his feelings in favor of your company again. You paused and turned your head. All Dio was met with was a disgruntled expression, as if they had been woken up out of nowhere during a deep sleeping session. “Dio…? Are we back at the hotel?” The wild blonde nodded. “Despite your unfavorable condition, you were victorious. It was quite a thrill to watch really.” Quickly you sat up and rubbed one of your eyes, almost a bit surprised. Y/n never really went up against another user per-say. You were fortunate enough to have grown up sheltered enough to not have many encounters with another due to an altercation, even with how un-glamours your youth with your parents was. It was also a fascinating discovery for someone like you who was curious about the functionality of stands. They really were an enigma; a shame however that other users were more or less aggressive. Y/n’s smile lasted for a moment until the realization hit them that they may have missed out important information for Dio. A long groan escaped you. Y/n pinched the bridge of their nose. “My apologies Dio...I got ahead of myself...we could’ve tried getting a lead and instead I-“ The corner of his lip lifted, the vampire dismissively waved an arm. “Do not worry about that. I was able to pry details from him before the final blow.” Y/n blinked and let out a sigh of relief, throwing their legs to the edge of the bed. “I must’ve blacked out because I don’t even remember that. Hm, but that doesn’t matter really.” They shrugged. Dio assumed a spot beside them, crossing his arms and throwing a leg over the other. “You got what we needed to know, that's what’s important.” You knowingly smiled up at him. Dio nodded in agreement. “You’re correct.” Dio lifted a finger up. “Anyways, you’re going to need to make preparations for us to embark to egypt as soon as you’re back to complete health.” “Egypt?” You tilted your head. “Yes. That is apparently where I will find the one who can grant others these ‘stands’. He said that she is an old witch of some sorts named Enya.” Y/n raised their brows in surprise. How in the world was he able to get so much precise information without fighting. Then again, this man was supernatural, perhaps he had his own ways of making one talk. Then again, if he did what point was there in making you do all the dirty work. Unless perhaps he wanted to just seize the opportunity to see what he could do and use your opponent as fodder. “Huh...Well. I suppose I was starting to get tired of this country anyways.” Y/n yawned, stretching their shoulder up to their cheek. “Luckily you have me around. Stand users tend to attract other stand users from my knowledge, so finding this woman shouldn’t take too long once we arrive.” “Perhaps. In any case, it may be best to be negotiable once we find this woman.” “Certainly, of course. And if she is an old woman, surely her power may be weaker. Despite today, I don’t particularly care for using my strength against someone weaker. Unless of course they instigate it.” They nodded. “Hm.” Dio glanced down at you for a moment, thinking about what you just said. “Part of me hopes we run into other users. As you know I cannot exactly see what is happening, I am still fascinated by what you can do.” Subconsciously your smile grew a little. You were a sucker for any kind of praise, but they had to keep their contentment dampered. “Thank you...I’m glad I can share my gift with you. When you have a stand as well, I can’t wait for you to fully experience what S/N can do. To be able to see it like I can see it.” Dio re-adjusted himself to a more comfortable position, sitting sideways to put more attention towards their conversation, leg still crossed over the other. “Oh yes, of course. I would be honored to further understand this power of yours more. If it wasn’t for you, I certainly would not be used to this body enough to even function without continued rest.” You shuddered a little internally, it was still a little strange that body was someone else's, even though you were used to this fact, you certainly did not need to be reminded. Y/n forced a smile and chuckled. “Thank you. I’m glad we’re friends as well.” ༺༻ ‘Friends’ that phrase echoed in Dio’s mind. Maybe he was their friend, but Dio did not have friends. Dio always had subjects. Pawns. Harems. Followers. Not that he couldn’t make friends but such relationships were beyond him. And with a human? He could just scoff at the thought. Most humans really weren’t nothing more than pawns, food, or a source of pleasure. Your relationship was not sexual, nor would he use someone who was doing such a big favor for him as food. But if you weren’t either of those, then what were you exactly? A guard dog? No. That was just insulting. Your relationship felt deeper than simply a subject or a pawn. Whatever. ‘Friends’ would suffice for now. The vampire cleared his throat between the silence. “Ahem. Yes. Friends.” Dio glanced at the food he left for them on the nightstand. “You should eat, dear, as I said, I wish to start our journey to Egypt as soon as you are feeling better.” Y/n peered back and took the banana. they opened their mouth to offer him the apple but remember he did not need that. “Right.” They nodded, peeling the banana. “By the way, I’d like to thank you. You could’ve just left me, but instead you tended to me when I was vulnerable.” They paused and continued to quickly eat their banana. “This may be a bit strange, being you’re a vampire, and above me on the food chain but…” Y/n paused and collected their thoughts, thinking how to word this without completely disinteresting him with their sentimentality. “I feel safe when I’m around you. I’m the one who is helping you but honestly? I suppose emotionally I feel secure around you. You’re the only person who seems to understand me and appreciate me.” Dio thought for a moment and scoffed. Not at you, but the fact that someone as smart, clever, and beautiful as you could go unappreciated. His legs uncrossed quickly. “Those who don’t appreciate you are simply putz.” He huffed and shook his head. “Fools. Utter fools.” Y/n froze, watching him place his hand over her head and pat it. “You are possibly the most useful person I’ve come across since my time out. I am uh…” Dio admittedly had faltered. “Grateful...For you as well.” “Really?” They smiled a bit, their gaze drifting up to his hand. “Here I was worried I’d gross you with all this sentimentality.” “No. I suppose even the most superior of beings need to express a bit of tenderness.” He nodded, continuing to gently pat your hair;It was quite soft really. “And if I am to express these sorts of emotions, it should be to one who is worthy of it. Someone I can trust not to use this as a weapon against me.” “Certainly. I know I would expect the same from you as well, Dio.” Your smile became a bit softer. The pair of you fell silent for a moment. The male hadn’t realized it but his hand had drifted down to feel your smooth locks. Y/n blinked and their eyes averted to the side. “Dio? What are you doing?” He quickly caught just what he was doing and pulled away, trying to play it off. Dio cleared his throat and got up from bed,, completely ignoring the subject. “In any case. Go rest. I’ll find some way of entertaining myself, don’t worry.”
