DPxDC Prompt: Who's Child Is This?

Inspired by an ICarly Clip. "Mr. Wayne, we have your son here."

Bruce blinked, then checked the number on the phone. It was from the police station. He then looked around the table which had fallen silent when Alfred had brought him the phone.

Dick, Jason, Tim, Duke, and Damian were all accounted for. Even Jon was there so they couldn't have misidentified him as his kid.

"Which one?" Bruce chose to ask.

"Tim Drake."

Bruce looked at Tim specifically as he tilted his head confused. "Are you sure?"

"Oh yeah, Mr. Wayne, we know your boys by now."

"Right... alright, I'll be there in a couple of minutes. Can I ask on why Tim has been taken into custody?"

Tim tilted his head even further while some of the others around the table started chuckling.

"He was found trespassing near the new Axion Labs at the edge of the city. The owner chose not to press charges so we're sending him home in your custody."

"I see, I'll be there soon. Thank you for the call."

"Of course, Mr. Wayne, we'll see you soon."

Bruce ended the call then looked at his kids. "Apparently, Tim has been arrested for trespassing near the Axion Labs construction site."

"And you didn't even invite me?" Dick chuckled at Tim, "We could have had so much fun together."

Tim scrunched his nose at the idea. "No way, that whole area is an OSHA violation. If I went there it wouldn't be out of costume, whoever that kid is was risking his life just walking within a block of it."

"Well, I'm going to go down there and see what 'Tim' was thinking." Bruce got out of his seat, "I'll be back soon."

"New brother?" Cass asked as Damian growled.

"We're going to assume no for now, but we may have another for dinner depending on what's going on."

"I will prepare another seat while you are gone, Master Bruce."

"Thanks, Alfred. I'll be back soon."

When Bruce walked into the police station he immediately noticed 'Tim' sitting in front of one of the officers desks. It was a newer officer and it was clear that neither Detective Montoya or Commissioner Gordon were in or somebody would have noticed that this kid definitely wasn't Tim.

Yes, the kid had black hair which was on the shorter side but his hair fell in front of his face more than Tim would wear it, and his eyes were unnaturally blue. He was pale in an old hoodie, blue jeans, and red shoes. The biggest difference though was that this kid looked like he was only pushing 15, not 17. Yes, he looked quite a bit like Tim but anybody who had spent more than five minutes with Tim Drake would know they weren't the same person.

"Mr. Wayne." The officer called as Bruce walked over, looking at the kid.

He was thin and pale, which a tired look on his face. He also shrunk away from Bruce when he walked over.

Bruce knew what a kid in trouble looked like. So he smiled down at the kid. "You know, Tim, when I said you could go to the lab to do your science homework I didn't expect you to go all the way to Axion Labs."

The kid looked at him, surprised then seemed to quickly catch on. "What can I say, I had to see what terrible science looked like. Sorry for making you come down here."

"It's fine, but are you okay?"

"Y-yeah, totally." He said, his hand subconsciously moving to his ribs as though he was hurt.

"Alright then you are grounded."

"What?!" 'Tim' squeaked, "Come on-"

"Nope. You are ground... for... 'til... college."

"FOR 'TIL COLLEGE?!"

"For 'til college!"

The officer cleared his throat then held out a clipboard. "If you sign the red x's you can take your son and leave, Mr. Wayne."

Bruce took the papers, quickly looking over it and signing it. It was strange to see that all of the handwriting on the paperwork was adult writing. Had they even asked this kid his name? Once everything was signed he passed it back over to the officer who nodded.

"Looks good. Thanks Mr. Wayne and you stay out of trouble. The whole city knows your face. You're just lucky Mr. Masters didn't want to press charges."

"Yeah, so lucky." The kid rolled his eyes, then stood up and looked up at Bruce. "Can we go now?"

"Sure thing, chum. Come on." Bruce said, leading the kid out of the station and to the car. The kid seemed hesitant as he looked around, his eyes narrowing when they landed on a gentlemen with silver hair in a ponytail, only when the man smiled at 'Tim' did the kid speak up again.

"Come on, Dad, let's get out of here before the stalkers find us." He said, climbing in the front seat and closing the door, much to the annoyance of the silver haired man.

Bruce climbed in the front seat, buckling in and driving away from the station. "So... 'not Tim' what's your name?"

"Danny. Just Danny... sorry about all of that Mr. Wayne. That guy took one look at me and started calling me 'Tim' and when I tried to explain that I wasn't 'Tim' hey called me a liar. But if I gave them my real name then... somebody else was going to come collect me and I didn't want that. So... I let them call me Tim. I'm sorry, I hope it didn't put you out..."

"Not at all. But... are you okay? Why were you at Axion Labs?"

Danny seemed hesitant, "I... it sounds crazy."

"It's Gotham, kid. Crazy things happen all the time..."

"Right... well um... I-I was kidnapped from my home and taken to Axion Labs. I-I escaped and when I was trying to leave the grounds the police saw me and thought I was trespassing. Since the cops were I decided to play along with it..."

Bruce frowned, "Kidnapped? Is... is there somebody I can call?"

Danny shook his head. "I have an older sister who is probably going crazy looking for me but other than her and a couple of friends there wouldn't be anybody. My parents... they were kind of involved. They... they found out something about me and tried to hurt me, I ran to somebody I knew I couldn't trust because I thought maybe he would get his head out of his ass but I was just being an idiot." Danny hugged himself. "You can drop me off anywhere though, you don't have to bother yourself with me or my shit."

Bruce pulled to a stoplight and reached over to the kid who flinched, Bruce waited until he relaxed before Bruce patted his head. "I'm not going to just leave you on the street. Besides, it's late and by now my butler has already dished you some dinner. So at least for tonight you're welcome to stay with me and my kids. We'll get some food in your belly, make sure you're not wounded, let you call your sister, and find a way to get you home. Sound good?" He asked, moving his hand away.

Danny looked at Bruce, seeming a bit untrusting for a moment before he glanced at something near Bruce and relaxed. There was nothing with Bruce, he wasn't carrying anything, but whatever Danny was seeing was enough to put his mind at ease. "Okay... but if anybody tries anything be warned, I bite."

Bruce chuckled, "So do most of the others. You'll fit right in."

'But just what the hell is going on with this kid? Does it have anything to do with that man outside the police station? I've got to get to the bottom of this before this kid leaves, especially if he's still a target.'

Worst to Best SPOILERS

19) The Interstellar Song Contest:

Yay, torturing a genocide survivor is totally fun (/ sarcasm ). The way it parallels Israel-Gaza makes the whole thing feel icky. Making crying and singing the only acceptable forms of protest feels very much like “respectability politics”.Like he’s a genocide survivor, they saw what The Master did to their planet and how he fucked with the Bodies of her people and they write a story where he has no empathy for this? They felt what it would have been like if they had used The Moment. Why is none of that used for empathy instead of having The Doctor go from 0 to a 1,000. And by using the word triggered all I can do is ask about that therapy arc. You have no skills to deal with triggers? No counting what you see? No deep breathing? No mantras? No visualisation? I’m fine with Dark Doctor and threatening him is okay but going this far in a situation where he’s being paralleled with a real genocide is just Blech and makes me feel wrong. It's done so viscerally by showing the electrocution and The Doctor being so utterly callous and cruel about it. It just feels so wrong and feels like a backslide from where The Doctor is meant to be. Why does Belinda hug him? Like saying he scares her is good. But I think it would have been good if he had gone for a hug and she wouldn't have let him! There is just nothing to make it clear that The Doctor was wrong to do this and that The Doctor should be just as mad at what drove him to this point as he as it him for doing this. And why did this put ice in his heart over all the other harm they've seen? (2/10)

18) The Giggle:

If you know me, you know I'm the number one Giggle hater. I hate that Ncuti had to share his opening with David. It’s unfair and makes him feel like he isn’t regarded as much as his own Doctor. And then he doesn’t get his own TARDIS design. (And never got one now) And then I’m personally hurt by the dialogue 14 has in the garden with the Noble-Temple family. Like No! How dare you insinuate the rest of the companions aren’t family and that somehow this is the end goal of the past 60 years? It’s painful and insulting. So I want to cry angry tears watching this scene, so I will never be okay with it. Cracking the TARDIS in two is assault! She’s a living being. It's horrible she has a soul! Having the TARDIS have a ramp and then not having anyone in a chair/using other mobility aids go into the TARDIS is patronising. As someone who uses mobility aids. Also, making 15 run around dressed like that feels objectifying. (1/10)

17) The Reality War: 

Oh, the many reasons! Belinda getting her timeline rewritten is misogyny and had her character sapped before that! She started out with so much conflict and willingness to question The Doctor but by ISC she wouldn’t even fight with him on torture. Look, I know she’s still a nurse and yes, she’s always been a caretaker and loved her parents but being a caretaker and being forced into the role of mother is different! She never said she wanted to be a mother; that is a different thing entirely from being a caretaker and family-oriented with her parents. Belinda agreed that Poppy should be saved, but not to have her whole timeline changed. She agreed to save Poppy, who was The Doctor’s daughter, not this new version of Poppy! She shouldn’t have been down to having been made into a mom without her consent in the first place, even if she was okay with saving a child.  

In this episode, we had no Susan answers. We’ll never get Rogue back. No payoff to The Doctor’s darker actions from the previous episode. Omega not being anything like the Omega from the classic series. Killing the Rani played by a woman of colour and having her mean nothing. The stupid canon about fertility (why is everything about motherhood?). Implying The Doctor has never been a parent before when 10 has explicitly said he has been before and 12 has implied so with lines like “dad skills”. The Doctor just shoots the bad guy with what might as well be a gun. Why doesn’t The Doctor believe Ruby? He's seen timelines shift and people disappear before (Rory! Amy’s Parents! Themselves!) Then of course, the Sixteenth Doctor/Rose Tyler/Bad Wolf ending, Ugh. Ncuti’s acting was very good and it made the regeneration hurt but that wasn’t enough to clear away all of the problems with this episode. (3/10)

16) Empire of Death: 

Just unsatisfying? Like I do enjoy Ruby’s reunification with her mom, it’s sweet. Ruby's leaving is a good scene. But Sutekh on the TARDIS all the time is dumb and The Doctor just taking him back to all the same places doesn’t make sense. Just tying him up like a dog is silly, but it doesn’t make me angry or anything.  Ruby being normal is okay in that I don't need her to be a god or something. But she needed to have done some kind of Timey Wimey thing that went back and maybe changed something that made her special? Like we have 73 yards that changed her going forward but did that make her “wrong” in the past (which Maestro says) and make her able to make it snow? Because that’s still not answered. It doesn’t explain the hidden song in her heart? I don’t know why any of that happens. And who is the mom pointing at, The Doctor? Why was the timeline able to shift during the time window? I'm fine with her mom being human but maybe have Ruby do something in the future that ripples back through time that changes things? Because “we just believed it so it’s special now�� would mean that like most people, would have magic snow powers and Sutekh should want to know about most people? Like most people, are considered special by at least four people? (Carla, Cherry, Ruby, The Doctor). Just ~magic~ doesn’t cut it. Good fantasy stories have RULES. Also, why does The Doctor feel bad about feeling bad about killing Sutekh? We see The Doctor kill people who have done less before. (3/10)

15) Wish World: 

I was mostly just baffled. I watched it and was mostly like I just don’t understand and it slightly affected my ability to feel super invested in everything that was going on. (5/10)

14) Lucky Day: 

I like Conrad in concept but I just don’t think it totally works out the way they planned and it feels confused overall but I think the ideas are good. I think the way it's all set up and the way he manipulates Ruby is really good. I think Conrad is overall pretty interesting. I like the stuff with Ruby’s character overall. I think she’s done well here. But I can't stand the way they do UNIT dirty here. Why are they just DW SHIELD? It sucks so much it hurts. Why are they keeping aliens in UNIT tower now? Why are they having schoolchildren there? Why are they interviewing people now instead of choosing them like they used to? Why aren’t they mind-wiping the people they interview? They used to mind-wipe people who were manning doors! Why are they so public now? Why is it so easy to get into the building? Why did they not have better background research? Why is the security on their networks so bad? Why can they not block the streaming out of their building? This episode makes UNIT look ridiculous; they should not be portrayed in such a manner. (5/10)

13) Dot and Bubble:

I got it RTD. I watched it. It’s about racism, privilege and technology. They are so racist and insular that they kill themselves through self-delusions of power instead of taking help from a black man. But I really wasn’t impressed by it? I didn’t think it was that clever. I guess some people were so blindsided by the fact that it was about racism and felt like they had to be reflective about how they had never noticed racism. Which I guess okay? I just was like yes, racism is bad and those characters are ~evil~ but if all racism was as easy to spot as those people's racism, xenophobia and classism, it would be so easy to understand and break down. And it did have issues with a Black man feeling so sad and guilty about not being able to save racists like he shouldn’t have to! He should be able to say fuck them. Ncuti’s acting was still amazing and I feel his acting in my guts, it was so good. And all the acting, special effects and directing and make-up and set dressing and everything else was Amazing.   (5.5/10)

12) The Legend of Ruby Sunday: 

Kind of boring? I do like some of the character moments between 15 & Kate and between 15 & Ruby. I like the time window as a concept; I think it’s neat. I enjoy the scene where 15 is really upset and Mel tells him to get his shit together. The reveal at the end was like ehhh. But it's not terrible and it's this episode's fault that the payoff is bad. (6/10)

11) Space Babies: 

It isn’t that bad. It’s just not insulting to me. There isn’t anything in this episode that offends me in any particular way. I enjoy it fine. It’s slightly boring yes and the farting ship is stupid but it’s stupid in a Doctor Who-type way. It’s a terrible series opener but otherwise, it’s not that bad. Everyone should just lay off. The story is fine, Ncuti and Millie's acting is good, Ruby and 15 are both in decent form, I think it's good! The abortion allegory is a bit sloppy but I don't find it offensive. If there is deep prejudice or something I’m missing in the text, let me know.(6/10)

10) The Church on Ruby Road: 

I had so much fun with it. I think it was a good introduction to Ruby. I think it had a good 15’s characterisation. Overall, I just enjoyed it and I loved the vocabulary of rope! However, I do find the “foundling” thing funny, yeah, you're an orphan but are you forgetting the whole medical abuse to the point of death your adoptive parent/culture put you through? Like, yes, you were an orphan but I’m pretty sure the terrible abuse and torture would have as much of an effect which makes your story and Ruby’s so very different.  (6.5/10)

9) 73 Yards:

I find this episode to be fancy like it’s done pretty well. I think there was a lot of thought and talent put into this. Millie put a lot of heart into this episode and I'm very impressed with her acting during this episode. I think there is a lot of work put in here. But I didn't think it was genius. I did feel like Ruby’s stuff was decent in the character department and I could feel where it was going. I didn't come out feeling way more connected to Ruby, though maybe it's a me problem, but the episode didn't make me feel like this whole new connection to Ruby; I felt distanced. The political stuff was boring. (6.5/10)

8) Lux: 

I loved everything but the fourth wall break. The fourth wall break makes me very angry. But I've decided to just ignore it. If RTD can just forget bits of canon then I can too. Because every other part of this episode I enjoyed so much! I love Mr. Ring a Ding. He's freaking great and looks awesome and is so much fun to watch. I like the overall design and idea of everything. I like the aesthetic. I like the solution to everything being a sort of mercy is super cool. I like his little song. Just had such a good time. Kind of bad handling of racism as The Doctor just saying “I ignore it by being the best minority” is a little iffy though. (7/10)

7) Joy to The World: 

Look, I actually had such a good time watching it. My family and I all came out feeling like we watched Doctor Who and it was all tied up. It was very Moffat. But I liked 11 & 12, so I didn't hate that. The stuff with Anita was so soft and lovely. Joy wasn’t an amazing protagonist, but I didn't hate her. The Time Hotel was a fantastic idea and I thought it was super clever and looked amazing. I love The Doctor just showing up to get milk for his tea/coffee. The other actors were very good. The Weapons Corp is a good recurring villain and I love that it’s tied back all the way to 2005 without it overpowering 15 as a character, as he was still the main point of the story. 15 was more important than Villengard. It was tied to Boom way more than anything ore 15. With Boom if you watched Boom you feel in on the idea but if you haven't seen Boom you still can enjoy it. So while it is a bit of a memberie type idea, it didn’t feel like it was trying to overpower who 15 is or his story as his arc was still the most important. And he actually had an arc during this episode! I love his little arc! I loved how he had to have some harsher and angstier stuff.  Overall, I felt very Doctor-y, and I'm fine with timey-wimey plots, so I had fun with it and I enjoyed the emotionality of it. I didn’t love Joy’s end, though; it felt a little close to suicide. which is why it couldn’t be an 8. (7/10)

6) The Devil’s Chord:

Overall pretty cool! I think it was creatively interesting and the acting was impressive. I enjoyed the enby rep! Villain panache was off the charts. The only part I didn't like was the song at the end. And of course, the fourth wall break going nowhere was a bit annoying but that’s an overall thing and not a problem by this episode alone. But re-watching this episode is always fun! (7/10)

5) The Robot Revolution: 

I had a good time and I really liked Belinda in this episode. She had a good personality and her pushback against The Doctor had a good standout from other companions. I liked the aesthetic of everything on the planet and the Robots. The side characters were a bit flat but they served their function. Coercive control as a bad guy motivation is good and sets the tone for the season, which is good, but implying video games were a part is iffy as yes, video games are an in to the manosphere, but aren't like the crux of he problem. The Doctor being on the planet before the companion and having this long-term plan was cool. I liked the way he pulled Belinda through time; that was cool. The effects were also very neat. The reveal was a little boring as just "oh Earth is destroyed" did not have me as excited as just the idea of Belinda as a character and her possibly butting heads with The Doctor. I’m sorry we didn’t get as much of that as I hoped.  (8/10)

4) The Well:

The ambience is great, the costumes are cool, Aliss Fenly and Shaya Costallion both fit their parts very well and made the episode work pretty well. I liked having a deaf character actually played by a deaf actor! It did suck that the idea that every nurse knows sign language to the point that it’s like punishable if you don’t kind of implies sign language is just one thing everyone could know and not a group of languages? Not every sign language can be known by every nurse  (like how there is BSL & ASL). But it was still a good watch even if it really didn’t feel like it was the same entity as Midnight. It didn’t act like the Midnight Entity? Like, I know you can say it’s evolved over time so this is its new form, sure but I just didn’t really get the same vibes or ideas of both of them, except paranoia, which is just a common horror vibe. But damn was it a good Horror vibe. Overall, a good watch and felt very Doctor Who.  I want to watch again and look for the short moments when I can see the creature! And the ending of the thing getting off was pretty cool but I never want to see it again.

3) Rogue:

Had so much fun with this episode. Just such a good watch and felt so much Doctor Who vibes here. I loved it here. Rogue is such a good character here and I loved 15 getting to interact with him was such a good vibe. I think you get a moment of him having a darker thought here about wanting them to suffer makes more sense here than what you get in Interstellar Song Contest, as you don’t have the genocide survivor ick but you also have it be deeply reactive to them having killed his best friend. It’s still breaking his healed arc, but it makes more sense as a moment of backsliding. And it’s still much more of a typical “Doctor” response to banish a bad guy to another dimension than to just purely physically electrocute a person over and over again. The general set-up of this episode is very good. I love the running corridors, very cool alien design, spaceships, and future technology. The companion got to do something and I liked the interaction between The Doctor and Ruby at the end of the episode. His having to keep moving forward because grief is always there is pitch-perfect Doctor. Sucks we won’t get Rogue back from the hell. (9.5/10)

2) Boom:

Does this feel like it could be from the Moffat era [12/Clara] Maybe! But screw it I love Moffat era Who so I loved it. The kid actor was too old for the way she was written but otherwise, I really liked it. I thought Ncuti was fantastic as usual. Millie was very good and so was Varada. I loved the idea of him having to stay calm to be able to survive. I thought that was cool. I liked the anti-war commentary that’s Moffat’s bread and butter and I liked it. Is the Dad-to-Dad saving the day stuff cheesy, sure, but I thought it worked really well. It felt very connected to past Doctors: Viallanguard being 9, the president's wife being multiple Doctors, especially 12, and the fish sticks being 11, while not having to explicitly show flashback images to past Doctors. I thought it worked really well. I liked that Ruby and 15 were really key to the episode, as Ruby and 15 had to be in sync (music had just been important in the past episode). 15 wanted to protect Ruby but couldn't, which was good drama. The Doctor talking his way out of a bad place is also something I'm a sucker for. Anyway, I loved it. (9.5/10)

1 ) The Story & The Engine:

This was so creative! I loved how it was different while still feeling Doctor Who. Ncuti made every scene he was in work amazingly! The moment when he realised he had been brought in here and his friend was willing to be sold out because he had lost his home and family before this was so painful. Ariyon Bakare is an amazing actor, omg I loved him. The way this whole episode was styled was beautiful and immersive. I think the way he stopped it via him having so many stories within him, was so Doctor! He’s done similar when they tried to feed The Old god in The Rings of Akhaten or blow up The Matrix in The Timeless Children. I liked that there was a lot of emotionality here. I wish that it had been clear someone was watching the Barber because you can’t assume he’s all better now because he lost his weapon. It’s good that The Doctor saved him but you can’t assume people get better super fast just because you're given an option to get better. I think this was the best god and magic-oriented story we got because it treated the gods as just another being in the universe and not something uber special. The Fugitive!Doctor Cameo was confusing but I can get down with it.  Overall fuck it we ball with this story I loved it.(10/10)

Afterword

Hello dear readers,

What an emotional journey this has been! 🥹 Another story that grew close to my heart has come to an end.

Originally, I had only planned a short story... but somehow, it got a little out of hand again. 😅 One plot point led to another, and eventually, I had to draw a line under it. I know that some storylines aren't fully developed, but going into more detail would have gone far beyond the scope of this series.

The idea for this story came to me while listening (for the thousandth time!) to ENHYPEN’s beautiful song Moonstruck. 🌙✨ After reading the lyrics carefully, I knew exactly where I wanted to take the story. Naturally, the pink full moon became an important symbol throughout. If you’ve seen the MV XO, you might have spotted it there too. That’s where I found the visual inspiration! It was one of the small tributes to ENHYPEN woven into the plot.

Another detail I really wanted to include was the number seven, symbolizing the seven ENHYPEN members. It took seven full moons to bring the two protagonists back together. 🌕🍂🌕🍁🌕❄️🌕🏮🌕🧧🌕🌱🌕🌸

Funnily enough, the timing worked out almost perfectly: the story begins with the October full moon and ends in April, right when the real Pink Moon appears. (I didn’t even know it was called the Pink Moon back then!) Although in the story, my seventh full moon happened a week later than in reality, but... I'd say that was no coincidence. It felt like fate. 🥰

The melody that H/N played on his flute for his princess was, of course, Moonstruck. It couldn’t have been any other song! Every time I hear it, I get goosebumps. Heeseung’s voice is simply magical and touches me deeply. 💖

A large part of the story revolves around H/N. Unaware of what had happened in the celestial realm, he carried an invisible emptiness within him, a deep sense that something, someone, was missing. He mistook the stirring emotions for his princess as feelings toward Mei. Yet even without his memories, he remained loyal to his true beloved, never truly giving his heart to another. (Okay, okay, thanks to Eunbyeol’s intervention, he was saved from making any foolish mistakes! 🐾) But once the memories returned and he realized the depth of their love, the longing to be with her nearly drove him mad. The fear of losing her forever if he failed to find the missing pendant weighed heavily on him. Once again, it was his little companion who guided him, and thanks to her, he was able to succeed.

Oh sweet little Eunbyeol... ⭐ When I first introduced her, she was only meant to make a brief appearance. But somehow, she grew into such an important character! As it often happens in stories like this, a bit of drama couldn't be missing: Eunbyeol sacrificed herself so that her Princess Y/N and H/N could finally reunite. I cried while writing that scene. T^T

Another part that emotionally tore me apart was when H/N and Y/N almost had to say goodbye forever. T^T The thought of them being separated for so long, especially Y/N, who remembered everything, only to see each other for a brief moment before facing another goodbye... It really broke my heart. I cried writing that scene, too. T^T

In general, the idea of being separated from your soulmate, watching them live on without any memory of you, and maybe falling for someone else... it’s such a heavy, bittersweet feeling. Y/N suffered so much. That’s why I’m all the happier that she finally got her well-deserved happy ending. 💕

And Mei, too, having to deal with H/N’s rejection and growing distance while still living under the same roof, it wasn’t easy for her either. Her transition to Seo-Joon was a little rushed, I admit, but I really wanted to give her a new beginning, too. She deserved her happy ending as well.

So did Lán Yīn. Blinded by hatred, she despised everything and everyone who still believed in love. An ambush had taken not only her beloved, but also the happiness she once knew. Fueled by this bitterness, she became the reason Y/N and H/N were torn apart. Yet even as death approached, Y/N was determined to uncover the truth and give Lán Yīn the peace she so desperately deserved.

Imagine living—or rather, wasting your entire life—consumed by a lie, despising the very person you once loved the most. How heartbreaking is that? 💔 Thankfully, Princess Y/N's heart was warm and forgiving enough to save even those who had hurt her the most.

In the end, Lán Yīn chose to give up her own life, not only to be reunited with her lost love, but also to save Y/N, just as Y/N had done for her. Incidentally, Lán means "orchid" in Chinese, and so her life force appeared in the form of a delicate orchid blossom. 🀣

There are still a few loose threads I would love to explore further. I've actually been thinking about turning this story into a full book. 📖 Would you be interested in that? Let me know!

For now, it's time to say goodbye (just for a little while). Thank you for staying with me through this story. It accompanied me for weeks. 🫶 Now it’s time to meet a new pair of characters. I'm planning to try something a little different next time... Let’s see if you’ll like it!

Hector!

15. What is the origin of their personality? And let's be honest - how much of it is projecting?

Hector is a Selunite monk purely because I liked Rasaad so much in BG1/2, and I wanted to make a character in the same vein. Hector did ultimately bear some resemblance to Rasaad in his placidity and in fighting with his fists, and both of them have character arcs related to struggling with their own emotions, but Rasaad's was more about battling his darker/violent side, and Hector's is about learning to be the cinnamon roll that he truly is. XD

Realistically, every single OC I make is projection in one way or another. I do think Hector is similar to me in a lot of ways; I relate to his arc of trying to figure himself out at a later stage in life and while the world goes crazy around him. I'm not as old as Hector is at all, obviously, but my twenties were an emotionally fraught period and in a way it feels like I'm only now starting to get down to business. So I can take a little inspiration, hopefully, from Hector eventually coming out of his isolated life and ending up with a wonderful girlfriend. :P

12. Do you have a playlist for the character? What songs do you associate with them and why?

Ugh, I'm so bad at this question lmao. XD

My go-to song for Hector came from a suggestion from a mutual ages ago, which is the song Man of Stone by Tall Heights:

But I really should come up with other answers for this question because it keeps coming up. XD

Other thoughts, poking around in my Spotify playlist rn:

"Only the Good Die Young" by Billy Joel, which with the genders swapped around could feel like Karlach talking to him. :P

"She Sets the City on Fire" by Gavin DeGraw, which with some tweaking feels like him talking about Karlach.

"Love Like This" by Blackhawk, for general romance vibes and how smitten he is with Karlach.

I feel like some of the heavy-ish metal on my playlist might be good for Avernus vibes. "Are You Ready" by Disturbed maybe? ("Into the Fire" by Disturbed also has some interesting Karlach and Zariel vibes with some mental gymnastics.)

"Heroes" by Mans Zelmerlow has always struck me as a good bet for a lot of fantasy protagonists and Hector is no exception. XD

"Daylight" by Maroon 5 is a good one for vibes, for the time when Hector thinks he's going to have to watch Karlach die. "Gone Gone Gone" by Phillip Phillips also.

If I'm going to fully flesh out this list, I'd like to come up with some more songs reflecting his faith and his attitude of emotional control, but none are immediately coming to mind. Very much open to suggestions! :D

Rakha!

17. Are there any motifs or symbols associated with the character? How are they represented, in their design, personality or in some other way?

This is kind of interesting to think about actually. There are definitely a number of recurring themes in Rakha's overall story, and I suppose there are recurring symbols that support those themes as well. I didn't really intentionally put any of them there, but it's fun to think about how they've evolved anyway.

I got very self-indulgent with this but low-key it's kind of an ego boost thinking about my own writing with the same analytical thought that I would have brought to something in my English Major days. :P

Blood. Recurring imagery supporting the themes of murder, death, and the battle against the compulsion to violence.

Headaches. A recurring motif for Rakha which I guess ended up kind of representing her battle against the forces both inside and outside her head that sought to control her.

Magic. Rakha's connection with magic ended up kind of symbolizing her own self-actualization and identity as placed against those external influences, and her wild magic surges were a visualization of that turmoil going on in her head.

Restlessness, dreams, insomnia. Rakha's dreams come in two flavors - the Bhaalspawn nightmares and the visits to the Guardian/Emperor in the Astral Sea. One was more peaceful than the other, but both were ultimately attempts to control her, and the lack of an ability to have a restful night's sleep reflected the chaos of her waking hours.

"Attack with purpose." A recurring motif right from the moment Lae'zel first said it. What is basically a throwaway line in-game ended up being the driving central thrust of Rakha's morality system.

"Violent heart." This only became a motif in the latter chunk of the game after hearing it from Viconia, but it ended up being a representation of Rakha's struggle with the fact that even after Bhaal's influence was gone, she still mostly only knew how to solve problems with killing.

Eyes. Rakha started out with a perfectly standard set of blue-grey eyes. Over the course of her adventure, those eyes became more and more corrupted - first by Ethel, and then by the Astral Tadpole - and reflected the chaos of her life and the influence of external forces with malign intentions over her life. As she comes out the other end of her battles now, her eyes have somewhat returned to a more normal state, but some of the scars linger.

There are probably more that I'm not thinking of but this is what I was able to come up with after some pondering. This was a lot of fun. XD Makes me feel like a Real Writer.

6. What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do?

Hm. Good question. XD

I picked half-orc for her race more or less at random, and the particular face preset I chose just because I liked its vibe. It's a tad androgynous which I'm always a fan of, and had a very sharp look to it which seemed appropriate for a Durge character. I didn't have any specific meaning in mind behind her scar or tattoo, although I did decide right from the beginning that her guardian was going to have the same tattoo as her as part of the Emperor's early attempts at manipulation. (I later ended up deciding that she and Z'rell both had the same scar over their eye as part of some Bhaalist ritual they'd both gone through - and that Z'rell is missing that eye because she botched it.)

The mohawk hair she has was also just an aesthetic decision really; it was pointy and sharp and felt Durge-ish. (It really doesn't hold up to much thought, honestly; hard to believe Rakha is doing that much hair styling in camp.) Originally I had it dyed orange, with the vague thought of a flame vibe to match some of the spells she'd be using and Durge's general destructive capacity, but it ended up clashing terribly with her starting outfit so I changed it to red.

With the decision to dye her hair red, I decided to go for a red-oriented vibe for her clothing/armor dyes as well. (As I said at the time when I decided on her color scheme: "Red for blood, black for the Dark Urge, gold because it fucks severely." XD

19. What is your general favourite thing about the character? What is your least favourite?

Caden is one of a number of Soft Boys(tm) in my OC arsenal; honestly, though, I think my favorite thing about him has ended up being just how utterly uninterested he actually is in being a hero or an adventurer.

My other OCs in this kind-and-gentle category (Matty, Philip, Hector, Adi, Dom) generally ended up in a long-term committed relationship with adventure more or less whether they wanted to or not, but Caden finished up his business with Irenicus (and, I suppose, in Calimshan in Open Your Eyes), and then said "That's enough for me, thanks, I'm going to go live quietly with my wife now," and then he just. Did that.

And he's 100% satisfied with that outcome. XD

My least favorite thing is that as a BG1/2 PC, I don't have a ton of visual references of him, unlike the tens of thousands(!!) of screenshots I have of most of my other OCs. But that's okay because fanart exists, and I have already gotten the lovely commission above ^ which helps a lot. :D

16. Is there any memes or running jokes associated with the character, both in- and out of universe?

It is absolutely a running joke that Caden is tremendously trusting. Even though it bit him in the ass over and over again, he never lost the inclination to trust those around him until they give him a reason not to. His friends absolutely tease him about this on the regular, usually while they're in the process of unsheathing their weapons to battle the latest person who has betrayed them. XD

the enha-files award show has ended and although One Note didn't win 'smau of the year' I am extremely grateful to be even nominated!

(gonna be spitting out words here so just click read more if you'd like to read about my journey and my little thank you note that i wanted to write if One Note did win)

when i first started writing back in 2017-2018. i started off my journey doing youtube fanfics (that's crazy) which meant I had to edit the videos, make a whole story, edit text, download videos (illegally, please don't catch me FBI) and then upload it to youtube. it was a rough start bc i was 15-16 around that time and i was still a student. i had my major exam for secondary school around that time too so like idk what i was doing💀

nobody really knew that i made fanfics on youtube. like my irl friends. i just kept silent about it cause in a way. it was a little embarrassing back then. then my videos started to get views. i was actually shocked. i wanted to also share my works on other famous writing platforms so wattpad was my next target. that's where user markxdino started growing even more.

2018-2020: my journey in wattpad. i was a huge fan of ateez back then. still am now. i decided that i wanted to make a book consisting of short imagines/drabbles hence i created the ATEEZ Imagines book #1. i didn't care about the views or reads. i had simply wanted to share my creative writing and to make people happy. Which has always been my life motto. 'Be happy & make people happy'. i shared some life details on myself on there as if the readers were my friends and i really did enjoy reading the comments on there. once again. the views on that book kept stacking up and i was shocked. soon enough before 2019, the book received 1M reads. I was frozen. that's a huge number for a 16-17 year old to even comprehenc. I also juggled my little youtube career along with this. i even had a schedule for which days i should focus on making video fanfics and wattpad fanfics.

however as you know, school happens. i couldn't keep up with the schedule but i always found time to edit the videos and also write. which now that i think about it back, idk how i did that.

2020-2025: i'm sure around this timing is when i started tumblr. as some of you may know, i was once a user called markxdino on here. i had that account for about 2 years and had a decent following. around 1K? with fanfics from ateez, txt and enhypen. i wrote for those 3 groups mainly. i also had side blogs for the 5th/8th/9th member of the respective groups but again. i couldn't keep up. i sill can't now💀 i apologise for that. i may come back with it since i have more free time now.

anyways, with the side blogs that i didn't use. i decided that i wanted to delete them. i've deleted side blogs before. why not delete the ones i never use in a long time. bad idea. cause it told me to put my username and i was like "huh?" so i just put it in. THEN I DELETED MY WHOLE BLOG😭😭😭 i was halfway through my smau that i did at the time, 'Jam Out'. panic was running all over my body. i almost cried ngl. like gurl that blog was my safe space for me to talk about events in my life. the artists that i love. many more. suddenly 2 years of writing on there was gone just like that. i told myself that i wouldn't give up bc there are users at the time who really enjoyed 'Jam Out' and they were worried with what happened to my blog.

those users, some have deactivated and some are still here just not active. I thank them till this day for continuing their support on my smau even though i had to restart on uploading it. it gave me motivation on writing. i will forever be thankful to my readers back then and currently for showing love and support on my works.

alex is the guy who saw slenderman first, and made the bad decision to explore it, and he survived i think.

entry 4 is alex in a park, running from slenderman, or an entity. whatever it is, alex does not seem to want to interact with it.

jay is the man recording in entry 5, and alex is doing a tour of the ground for marble hornets

it may be that slenderman followed him home after the encounter at the park or the road with his dog.

brian, alex, and a girl off camera entry 7, further notes here. alex is off camera and brian is now talking. they are in a car. also, brian is hoody.

the man confirms that someone is most definitely following alex

alex is seen drawing the slenderman poster thingys

sarah and tim are reading a script, and alex is pissed that they aren't doing it how he wants them to. alex seems to want to have the camera recording at all times, this may just be a minor detail only for the set, or it may be because he feels unsettled by the tall man stalking him. seth is the one recording right now.

alex is running away from the tall man in entry 10

in entry 11 alex is checking his house and outside for the entity, it also appears he has hanging the pictures of slenderman up.

in entry number 12, brain and alex are shooting a shot together with alex acting more like himself. the camera distorts, and then seth zooms in on the slenderman.

THE REWASMRE

alex is in the woods all by himself, and finds a symbol that is an 'O' with an 'X' alex notices something and begins to run

it seems slenderman ha invaded his home, alex records for about 35 minutes and gets nothing, but next we see him bleeding from his head, but conscious.

jay and tim are meeting up entry 15. so tim mentions that at first, alex was a pretty good director until moving forward. so that would mean that an clips of alex being himself are the first clips he made, and then the ones of him acting off are the ones that are the result of being exposed to slenderman.brian and alex are good friends it seems, while tim was just along for the ride. someone was leaving dead animals on alex's front yard, so this can conclude that slenderman is most likely hostile if it is him. TICK TOCK

we are in the pov of jay, and he's looking for brian in entry 16 why are these mfs always in the woods at night??? anyway, jay is knocking on maybe brians door. jay attempts breaking and entering. jay succeeds at breaking and entering. oh damn their house is like what comes out of my ass when i eat too much mcdonalds jay i need you to get your shit together and leave immediately. i'm just saying i would know if i'm in a horror film somebody give this mans some cough medicine his coughing is freaking me out more than the spooky tall guy omfg jay don't go upstairs he went upstairs omfg oh boy blood splatters, lets go towards it! 1. How many works do you have on AO3? 30! That number seems astonishing to me now, considering I started writing fic in earnest like a year-and-a-half ago. 😁

2. What’s your total A03 word count? 138,358

3. What fandoms do you write for? James Bond, Glass Onion/Knives Out, and I just wrote my first fic for The Old Guard fandom, which has pulled me in by the lapels and refused to let me go. And the very first fic I ever wrote was for Stardew Valley.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? 1. A Good Man (Benoit Blanc/Phillip) 2. rain (00q) 3. open line (00q) 4. The More Loving One (00q) 5. Must Love Cats (00q)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Ok yes I definitely do and I love to *and also* I'm so sorry, I'm 288 days (yes I just checked) behind in responding to comments, because this year has been...something else. So, taking the opportunity to say that a) all of your comments are incredible bright spots for me, and b) I am working my way steadily through and enjoying your comments all over again as I re-read and respond to them.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? WELP (eyes my pile o' fics warily). If we go based off the fics with "Major Character Death" as a warning, for a certain value of angst, it's a tie between offering and and the wind at their backs. But both of these fics deal with grief, and the complicated emotions that result from the persistence of love even after the object of that love is gone, and there's some hope in that, too, I think.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? lmao most of the rest of them other than the two in number 6? 😂 this is a hard one to answer, so I'll list my RomCom-iest fics for now (Must Love Cats for 00q and in a space that they belong for The Old Guard). Special shout-out to 'tis the damn season, though, because the happiness at the end of this fic feels like some of the hardest fought, to me, and some of the tenderest I've written, I think.

8. Do you get hate on fics? No--I've gotten a few less than diplomatic comments, and a couple people making unflattering notes in bookmarks that I don't think they meant for me to see, but nothing terrible.

9. Do you write smut? ::offers you rain and for the age of the earth, and after as if I am a sommelier presenting you with some very fine wine:: "this one has notes of--" you know what I'm just going to stop there.

10. Do you write crossovers? I haven't yet!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, thank goodness (knocks on wood).

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not yet! #goals

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Use. Your. Words., which was a collaborative poem for 007 fest 2023. 😁

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? I spent about five minutes hemming and hawing about this but you know what, it's impossible to pick. 😂

15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Like Anyawen, I have aspirations of finishing all the ones hanging out in my Scrivener app...someday. Probably the one I have the most doubts about is a 5 + 1 fic where Bond tries out different activities post retirement. I still love the idea and some of the vision I had for this one, but it lives almost entirely in my head, still.

16. What are your writing strengths? I think maybe I have a good ear for language, both in terms of the rhythm of sentences and paragraphs, and for conveying a character's voice or accent. But it's hard to assess your own strengths, sometimes, so that's just my best guess!

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I'm actively working on trying to be better at descriptions, especially in giving details about setting or background. I realized I give these things short shrift, sometimes, and want to change that!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'll do it with languages I'm fluent in (and have done it with Spanish, since I'm a native speaker).

19. First fandom you wrote for? Stardew Valley, in What Dreams May Come.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written? Omg, another one that is almost impossible to answer! I think I have to go with all the flags we've hung. This is one of my least popular fics--it's a rarepair, the love depicted in it is complicated (though no less real), and it deals with light topics like, you know, structural racism in the United States. As one does. But it's a fic that's incredible close to my heart, for many reasons, and I remain so proud of this one.

Dominque was born into a large family, her being the only daughter of the brood. She was surrounded by five brothers, older and younger. She grew up in a very loud household, quite busy. Her father was a doctor and her mother was a high school teacher. The mornings were a rowdy affair, everyone rushing around to get to their perspective places. Dominque was in the middle so she wasn't in need for attention or affection. The Archer's were quite loving, supportive, adoring. There were many little Archer's, but surprisingly enough, none of them were ever neglected. That carried into their teenage years as well.

As a result of her upbringing, Dominique tended to be a nurturing force as she grew. She would often times tend to the less fortunate, those in pain, those in need. She wouldn't shy around something as important as someone who needed something. She was for all intents and purposes a soft-hearted girl. She'd bend to help anything or anyone. Her smile would spread from cheek to cheek that was almost infectious. Her parents had called her their little heart. She also fell in her father's steps. Leaning towards caring for people and their medical needs. She also was an activist for a number of causes. If there was a rally or a protest she was present. Tending to wounds and emotional scars weren't the only ways to help people. She was an ear, a friend, a confidante.

Graduating was another one of those happy memories for her, taking the stage and hearing the absolutely booming voices of her brothers, parents, distant family members. It was one of the greatest moments of her life. She was used to being surrounded by her family, but this was something new. It was about her. The day carried on with a night out, dinner and a show. Her whole family all together and just as carefree as they were in the house. She remembered her uncle hoisting her onto their patio as they all toasted to her. She knew why it was so meaningful. She'd be leaving and this would be gone. She had to go to school and from there a top medical school. The hugs and voices tightened over the course of the night. She'd miss this more than anything else in the world. Family and community.

Then, she began her higher education, the eventuality that she would be alone for the first time in her life fillled her with uncertainty and anxiety. It only lasted for a few weeks, given shortly after she migrated to different groups. Whether they were in her classes or in any of the clubs or events that she found herself in. College was where she met Michael. He was a big, adorable jock who tried his hardest for her to attend the games, the parties, etc. She always said no, of course. Only to him and for no other reason than that it was their thing. That continued through her first year. The second year, things changed. Second year brought them together in a way that she hadn't expected. He saved her from a messy situation, and he just never left her side afterwards. She wasn't sure, but she hadn't noticed entirely was his endgame had been.

Dominique got married to Michael shortly after college graduation and they moved closer to where Dominique would be interning while finishing her licensing and moving through her goal to be a nurse. Michael was working his way through what he wanted to do, but Nique didn't care, she loved him and that was all that mattered. She worked herself bare moving between interning, her job and everything in between. Interning was exhausting within itself, calling her at all hours and Michael, the sweet man, was picking up her slack around the house. When she finally finished her internship Michael held this huge party for her with her friends and family. From that point her life moved pretty quickly. It was when she was twenty-seven when she found out that she was pregnant.

From there, their life changed, the time came and went for the baby and soon, that was the focus of their life. Ellie, they'd called her. Michael became determined after her birth to find his place in life, got a job and began to change in ways that didn't seem to matter at the time. She worked more and made time for Ellie. The years slid by in their little bubble, a nice marital bliss and happy little family. She loved everything about her life. Then, all of that went away.

𝑨𝑭𝑻𝑬𝑹 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑽𝑰𝑹𝑼𝑺 ▔▔▿▔▔

Her family were all in different places when the world went to shit. Domique had been at the hospital, of course. Michael had been at home and little Ellie had been at school. Nique had been drowning in bodies before she had even heard of the news and went through the process of learning exactly what it was. The reanimation taking her and most of the medical staff by surprise. She'd had no choice, but to adapt very quickly. She'd learned within the first few seconds not to get close, to keep a safe distance, not to let them bite and (assumingly) scratch you. She had quickly become armed with a number of medical tools to fight off what she needed to. Among them, a scalpel and a bed pan.

She fought tooth and nail for ten hours in the hospital for her survival and escape from it. Her body was exhausted, her fingers slightly numb from the way she had been tightened for so long. She finally had made her way to her home and to her biggest fear, nothing was there. So much so, that their house was on fire and was smoking. She fought her way inside, yelling her husbands name, yelling her daughters names to no avail. The only thing that responded was more of them. She made her way to the school next which had almost the same results. The only difference was that instead of mostly adults with the strange affliction, it was children. None she had recognized as her own Ellie. She had taken off after a few hours moving through the school and set into a quiet, horrifying panic. She was all alone now.

And that was how the years since the outbreak had remained. She didn't fall in with groups or look for other survivors. She stuck around town for what she thought might have been a few months, returning to the places she knew her family had been in hopes that they'd return. They hadn't. She was all alone for the first time in her life, remaining in that silent survival. She hunkered through the wild, quiet and unassuming. Finding tools and weapons that she needed. She had a bunker underground that she'd found and had remained there with supplies. She came up one day at the sound of a scream, hidden underneath her shroud. That person was in need of medical attention and once Dominique had bandaged her up, she escorted her back to the San Francisco Medical Center where they'd asked her to stay.

children first. always. she will go to any lengths to save or help a child whether they ask for it or not.

takes runs. not for exercise, but to keep her stamina and cardio up to par. this happens once a day, weather dependent.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Unhhhh most of them honestly! I will say, I do SOMEtimes VERY RARELY put some pain on the journey to HEA so if I had to guess, I'd say that all of me (loves all of you) (Drarry) is probably my most unabashedly sappy no-angst fluff.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not to my face anyway! I'm sure there are people who don't like my writing but I think they ignore me more than anything! One of the perks of being a very small writer, I think!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sure do! For kind, I write slash, I guess you'd call it (gay), almost all of it M/M. I have one girl!fic. I don't really write too much kink, I'd say most of what I do is pretty vanilla. Healthy communication is my kink, I guess!

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Ummm off the top of my head, no?

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge. I read one fic that was not a plagiarism of my actual work but was literally the exact same plot, the exact same story beats, the exact same setting etc. I am well-aware there's nothing new under the sun but I read it and was like, unhhh. It's one of my greatest fears honestly - accidentally taking someone's fic!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know. I've been approached, but I'm not comfortable with it.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yup! Twice! Both in the Larry fandom. One was with one other writer (who's long gone from fandom as far as I know) and one (Wine Not) I wrote with a big group of people who've become some of my absolute closest friends!

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

I don't have one specific. The ones I write for, I obviously feel very very strongly about, but the bummer for me is that when I'm writing in a particular pair, I don't read anything in that pairing! I also don't read for the ship, but for the story and the writing, so I read in a LOT of different pairings!

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Fuck me, so many.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Oof, I'm not sure! I'm not a trained writer by any means. I think I do scene setting pretty well?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Pacing, for sure. It's really hard and I can get bogged down in the "and then THIS happened and then THIS happened and then THIS happened" - I'm so linear, so I have to push myself there.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Generally no. I've sprinkled in a few words here and there, but I wouldn't do much of it, and if I had to, I would 1000% find someone to help me with it and not rely on Google translate.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Larry. Still writing there and kinda following along a bit but I'm not active in that fandom anymore other than the writing.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I'm not sure I have one fav fic - I'd say I'm really proud of my long (for me) fics! Those are hard for me, and there's a couple that are really really personal. But I have to say, Maybe You're the Difference (Drarry) is one I really like and am really proud of. I worked so so hard on it.

First off, anon, I am not going to be answering your asks, as I have already deleted them. Also, I post about my past experiences on here as a way to inform or comfort others in knowing that they aren’t alone. I am not doing it to “seek attention”.

And YOU have absolutely NO right to say if I faked it or not or if my trauma isn’t “valid” in your eyes. Why? You weren’t there. You don’t know the severity of it.

And I’m not going to say that “you haven’t experienced it”, because maybe you have. But that does not give you other reasons to put down others.

You’d be incorrect. About 99% of women face sexual harassment, and that number most likely has not gone down. And 70% of that 99% percent do not fight back. Why?

Because we’re afraid (or at least from mine and some of my family members’ experiences) you or others won’t believe us.

If we seem “okay” then nothing is wrong. But if we suddenly bring it up then you just shoot us down saying “you’re just seeking attention” or “what were you wearing?” or even “you were probably asking for it.”

What the fuck? Do you really think those are valid questions or reasons? Wake the fuck up.

It is not about what we wear, it is not about what we’re doing, it is not how we are acting. Why would anyone on this shithole of a planet ask for something like that to happen to them?

Miniskirts aren’t the cause of rape and sexual harassment. People are.

Babies, literal CHILDREN, are being abused and taken advantage of because “you can’t hold back your urges”. It sickens me that there is a legitimate video of a baby being raped floating around the internet. And people in the comments were SUPPORTING this behavior?

Are you mental? What is wrong with you?

Minors aren’t safe on the internet by any means, and I’m not referring to 8, 9, and 10 year olds (even though we need to watch out for them too), I’m talking about 15, 16, even 17 year old girls that are being harassed. My cousin was catcalled about five times while we were in a public shopping center by two middle aged men.

She’s 14.

And I’m not saying it’s just men (even though it generally is), don’t you DARE go down that road with me.

SHATTER ME TRILOGY REVIEW-

2/5 stars…

Almost every review of this series that I have seen raves about how amazing it is. I have to disagree. For some context, here is the plot summary of book one:

“Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.”

A plot summary for books 2 and 3 really isn’t needed since the storyline is so hopelessly redundant one can barely distinguish each book from the other. Essentially, the main character Juliette is rescued from her prison by the ruggedly handsome Adam Kent. They are taken to a District 13-esque underground base by the comedic relief character, Kenji. A resistance movement against an evil government whose motives are never clearly defined is introduced, a love triangle is formed between Juliette, sexy Adam and bad guy turned good sexy Aaron (who- plot twist- is Adam's long lost brother) , our main character discovers that she’s a super powerful girl boss, she takes down the government, becomes the government….yaddah yaddah yaddah.

My main issue with this book isn’t necessarily the plot. The concept of a person who can’t touch others without killing them is intriguing. The two sexy male characters that are conveniently the only people who can touch her without dying from her powers are obnoxious, but what can we expect from a dystopian YA novel? The thing is, a lot of the issues with this book are issues typically associated with YA novels, and in most books, they can be overlooked. BUT THIS BOOK HAS SOME OF THE WORST WRITING I HAVE EVER READ IN MY LIFE.

The chapters (which vary in length, sometimes 1, 2, 3, or 15 pages long) are fraught with sad attempts at profound metaphors. Allow me to provide you with a few examples:

“Raindrops are my only reminder that clouds have a heartbeat. That I have one, too.”

I've never heard about clouds with a heartbeat, but whatever makes you happy I guess.

“I only know now that the scientists are wrong.

The world is flat.

I know because I was tossed right off the edge and I've been trying to hold on for 17 years. I've been trying to climb back up for 17 years but it's nearly impossible to beat gravity when no one is willing to give you a hand.”

I think we can all agree that this metaphor could've been made without the declaration that the world is flat, but that line will definitely cause the reader to do a double take!

“I am nothing but novocaine. I am numb, a world of nothing, all feeling and emotion gone forever.  I am a whisper that never was.”

.....this speaks for itself. or maybe it doesn't speak, since it's novocaine.

“Every butterfly in the world has migrated to my stomach.”

this imagery both disturbs and confuses me

"My eyes are 2 professional pickpockets, stealing everything to store away in my mind."

quick writing lesson: when a number is less than ten, you write it out in word form!! also what. just what.

"They want to delete every point of punctuation in my life from this earth."

“And we are quotation marks, inverted and upside down, clinging to one another at the end of this life sentence. Trapped by lives we did not choose.”

punctuation metaphors are really a theme here. quite possibly the only theme of this series.

"My mouth is sitting on my kneecaps."

"My jaw is dangling from my shoelace."

"My eyelashes trip into my eyebrows; my jaw drops into my lap."

There are so many other normal ways to just say she was surprised! I simply cannot understand the thought process behind these absurd sentences.

"My stomach is a flimsy crepe, my heart is a raging woodpecker, my blood is a river of anxiety."

"I crumble to the floor, folding into myself like a flimsy crepe."

The fact that a crepe metaphor was used at all, let alone twice in one book, is completely bizarre.

[…]his lips his lips his lips are 2 pieces of frustration forged together.”

This pattern of crossing out and repeating phrases is repeated several times throughout each chapter, and it is sooooo irritating.

To conclude, this book series gave me the same vibes as most soap operas: terrible quality, the plot is filled with intrusive twists that make no logical sense, and the characters have about as much depth as a puddle.

I will admit that I was entertained by this series, hence the two stars instead of one. But I was entertained in the same way a train wreck might be entertaining. This series is so bad it's hilarious. The fact that someone wrote this, reread it, thought it was decent, an editor read this, also thought it was decent, and then had it published is so strange to me.

If you are the type of reader who enjoys plots that aren't thought out whatsoever, if you can stomach the cringiest of writing phrases, if you are okay with the most muddled and rushed endings ever, and if you enjoy the most cliche events possible , you may be able to enjoy this series. Or maybe you can enjoy it while seeing it for the ridiculousness it is. However, if you read this and think that you have walked away with some profound and thought provoking quotes like a majority of people on the internet seem to think, please reevaluate. Expand your reading horizons. Try some classic literature. Or something.

anyways this is not as harsh as it sounds, please don't be offended if you are a huge fan, just my opinion. :)

22! I think I’ve written a decent amount but I’m always hoping to increase that number.

There’s not really a proper answer to this question cause I’m not writing regularly at the moment (life has been very hectic as of late and I’ve not had the energy or motivation.) The latest fandom I wrote for was Good Omens, which is a fandom I would like to write for more in the future.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes I do! Although often I don’t really know what to say, I’ve written so many variations of “ah thanks :)” in my time.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably my fic with the angstiest ending is Are There Still Beautiful Things? (from my oneshot collection Let There Be Light) although that one was sort of bittersweet too. If I had ever written the 2nd and 3rd parts to Everything We’ve Ever Done it would have caught up to Charlotte disappearing and the group falling apart so that would have had an angsty ending.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Tensei Iida: What it Takes to be a Hero. That fic was very angsty along the way but the ending I think was pretty feel-good (also it’s one of the only multi-chapter fics I ever actually finished.)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I’ve never got like, proper hate, but there was one regular commenter on a fic once who basically disagreed with every choice I made in that fic and would always try to debate my writing with me.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope. I don’t think I’d be very good at writing it and I’d be worried about it being awful. I’ll leave that to people who know how to do it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

The closest thing I’ve written to a crossover was my BBC Ghosts vampire AU which was very heavily influenced by WWDITS.

As they said in their response, I’ve written a few things with @prince-rowan-of-the-forest, but none of it’s ever been posted.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

Yeah I don’t really have one seeing as I tend to change fandoms every few years, and though I do sometimes get briefly sucked back into old fandoms they don’t usually hold the same appeal to me anymore. That said, I have to mention Will/Lyra from HDM because they were one of my first ever ships, back before I knew what shipping was, and there is still a major place for them in my heart now.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I am so sad I fell out of the MHA fandom before I finished TTMOQRC. I had so much planned for that universe that I really wanted to write and it will forever haunt me that I never got to get it all out there. I also wish I’d written more for BBC Vampires because again I had loads of ideas but that AU got so little engagement it was hard to keep my motivation for it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think my dialogue is pretty good, and I think I’m quite good at characterisation. And I think I come up with a lot of good ideas (specific, I know.) I think I’m good at writing characters’ thought processes too.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Coming up with coherent plots can be ridiculously hard sometimes. I’m also terrible at sticking with WIPs which is why so many of my multi-chapter fics are unfinished.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think it’s really cool! And it’s something I’d love to do! When I was obsessed with 1899 a while ago I really wanted to write an Ángel/Ramiro fic with dialogue in Spanish because Spanish is probably one of my biggest special interests and I loved the idea of combining it with my current hyperfixation at the time.

However I do think it’s a really hard thing to pull off cause not everyone’s going to speak the language the dialogue is written in and I don’t want to alienate people. And having read some fics where the dialogue was in languages I don’t understand and the translations were included in the notes, I know that sometimes it just doesn’t work.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Shadowhunters. It was written in a notebook and was about a bunch of OCs I made up.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Probably Here and There and Gone Again because I was nervous to write for the Good Omens fandom because of all the amazing fics I’ve read and I was really pleased with how it turned out in the end. Everything We’ve Ever Done is also one of my faves because when I wrote it I was fixated so hard on those characters/that part of the story so it was a real passion project for me.

i think most popular ships i tend to like purely as platonic 💀 cr*menos h*incurr ph*nlumi are all pairs that i think have nice canon interactions but they're the kind of dynamic that always feels butchered as ship... judging from the ships i actually do like i think i prefer pairs who are more like "argumentative + just deals with it" rather than both of them bickering a lot...?? but i'm also definitely biased i Rarely if Ever like popular ships let alone the most popular

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

no 👍 jk ok wait let me think about this... yeah no i've never gone back after deciding i hate a ship, there are a few that i (kombucha girl)'d about after being neutral or never considering them but never ones i actively hated

15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

drgl didn't end prematurely o<-< in terms of the game yes but i think the story was pretty obviously reaching an end so that if they had to continue it they'd probably have to do some stupid bullshit to prolong it... not that i don't think some things could've been expanded on more but i kinda. prefer that it has an ending at all

HOM act 3 should Not have had a ph*nlumi fight omg i'm still so bitter about this THEY WOULD NOT ACT LIKE THAT. i get that they had to have some stupid conflict so that damien gets the transcendent stone instead but it's not like the fight was playable anyway so why did it have to be an actual fight... i know that entire act is just fanservice with the modern clothing but holy shit

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?

m*lsarisse... maybe.. i'm also thinking about hikari/ochette a little recently bc i have seen like one (1) artwork of them and i think they're kinda nice but i still way prefer them platonically

25. How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX?

i wish,.. kazan got unique dialogue for hikari protagonist.... i don't like protag favouritism when it comes to 8path either but in that situation it felt so awkward to not have him say anything different snzz

ironically i think euden bc even though the early stories pushed him as a harem protag so hard i think they realized this shit. isn't working abjkdhjgka there's a few ships i've considered with him but i think they all fall apart if i think too hard
