revising your writing is just like "is this weird. is this a weird sentence. is this the weirdest most poorly-worded sentence ever written by anyone" and the sentence in question is "he walked across the room"

talking to a friend about getting back into art and i think the #1 most important piece of art advice i could ever get or give is just "figure out what is FUN to you"
like i think there is sooooo much emphasis on how to build SKILL in art but a lot of it really treats art like a job or like video game grinding, like it's this thankless job that you have to work at in order to reach a Threshold and i know it's not EASY to make yourself have fun but like
imo a solid 70% of the reason i create art is because the Act of Drawing is fun to me. it's fun problem-solving and planning and putting down lines and playing with colors and tools. it's fun to depict little scenes in my head or to create outfits or to find ways to fill the canvas. never forget that creating can be fun. sometimes it's hard and sometimes you have to battle through your own blockades to get there but the ultimate goal should always be to ENJOY it, to find what you enjoy doing and then do it forever. improvement will follow enjoyment.
i think especially with all the debate about ML image generation it's more important than ever to embrace FUN. if you're only focused on the end result it's so easy to get in your own head- to think about what doesn't look good or what skills you don't have yet or to compare yourself to other artists. but photography didn't kill the art of drawing and AI won't either because, simply put, there will always be people who want to do the physical act of making art because it's fun to do! using paints and markers, splashing colors around, doing shitty pen doodles, using the symmetry tool in your art program to do abstract mandalas that are just squiggles formed into patterns. do art like you're 5 and you've been handed markers to pass the time. do art like you're bored in class and you're keeping your brain entertained by drawing stick figure comics in the margins. do art like an absent thing, do art because it satisfies your brain. the goal is not to make something beautiful and perfect, the goal is to make something because your hands need to make and your body needs to make.

starting off 2023 with a bang! stuff from my series The Magician’s Protegee from 2021 🐸🩺 TMP tells the a story about the life of an android doctor, Lee, and his adoptive daughter Iris, and their other ragtag android and human friends, set in an idyllic future.
Animation was not a skill that came easy to me in art school. While everyone else started to excel at this skill, I’d still be learning how to hold the reins. It’s something I beat myself up over in school a lot.
These were done in 2021 for a school project, left unfinished, and I wasn’t exactly proud to share unfinished work like this at that time. 2021 isn’t long ago enough to elicit nostalgia per se, but upon unearthing these animations, I was overcome with joy - I was reminded of how much fun I had bringing these characters to life by taking a more narrative approach. I struggle a lot at sequential art and telling stories, so a lot of my work tends to be more illustrative, but over the years I’ve regretted not exploring character interaction and storytelling in my art more. these animations remind me that, I don’t have to necessarily be good at a skill to enjoy doing or just trying it. for me to come this far is truly a feat. 2023 will be year of the oc!!!!!

"Cookies Ready! Anyone want some?"
Heya, a quick sketch because I haven't drawn anything at all today. I truly miss baking due to busy schedule so here's Theia baking chocolate chip cookies!! They're all irregular shaped because she had some helping hands from the waddle dees.
And every once in a while, the three would go out picnic. (Pretend there's more than a bowl of cookies). It's a time where they're not tied up by work and able to just relax for a bit. Kirby loved being sandwiched between the two because he'll get a lot of head pats and scratches from Theia. Meta Knight often received head pats and scratches from Theia (he loves it, even though he looked like he despised it) simply because she can't even stay still and often loved showing others she cared for them (via head pats and etc etc)
And not only them, the others would join them too and sometimes food fight ensued but only once.

through gritted teeth: it doesn't have to be good, it just has to be written. it doesn't have to be good, it just has to be written. it doesn't have to be good

Guess who got a new job…
…Me !!!
Woo hoo !! Goodbye Pizza maker and hello Donut giver!
While it was unfortunate I had to go, it was for the sake of my mental health! In the many jobs I’ve had, I have learned one thing: Try to avoid working for family owned businesses (specifically the ones where the family is very involved in, and its the food industry!) Of course this is just my own advice based off my experiences!
Now the entirety of America runs on my Donut expertise.. yippee!!
Also also! I plan on posting a redesign of the OC above (along with introduction) after I finish the halloween im doing! All i need to do is do the background :,-) Not much will change with her but still!! Changes Changes..
Bonus ghost Howdy doodle!’

Dale is not a gold person. He's done bad things, and he knows it.
He can't count the number of times he's snapped on Andrew and slammed him against a wall or a table. Threatening his life, daring him to go through with his own threats.
Dale isn't a good person. He got involved in bad people, and saw no reason to get involved when Archie was born.
When Tulip was born, though.. for the first time, he actually gave a shit.
It was then that he sought to clean himself up. Get away from the bad people, maybe take some anger management classes, and focus on being ready to help his niece.
Dale isn't a good person, but he can pretend for his niece.
His beloved niece, Tulip, Avatar of their world. She's changed, but he's changed too. She's older now, he's older now.
Sometimes, he'll merely look at her with a wistful expression. Where had all the time gone? He would wonder.
Dale isn't a good person, but he can pretend.
As Vitality gently runs a thumb over a scar on his forearm, he glances up to see her reaction. His scars were far and few between. Back when he was younger, he had made a vow to himself to never let them win.
Her face is one of melancholy. As she glances at him, she gently places a thumb at the tip of the scar.
Dale blinks before nodding softly.
Vitality gently drags her thumb down, the scar disappearing.
The two stand together quietly on the second story by a window in one of the hallways. It was meant to be a check-in for Tulip, and after that, it turned to Vitality checking on Dale.
Dale isn't sure he can hide what a shitty person he is around Vitality.
But when she smiles at him, he can at least pretend.
