Thank you!! From this tarot themed ask game 😊 For my Juniper Aldwir rook!

The World: What does happily-ever-after look like for Rook? Is it attainable, or just wishful thinking?

Juniper is 100% keeping the Lighthouse/Eluvian network. For one I think it'd be kind of irresponsible to just... leave all that open and unregulated???? People besides the Veilguard are just wandering through now with faction leaders visiting here and there according to the codex (and in the patch you even meet a designated crossroads messenger), plus Venatori & Antaam & demons kept kept getting zapped inside it by the gods. I mean we killed a lot of those but presumably some got tumbled in without us there yknow? So I think she would recognize that 1. this is an incredibly valuable resource in terms of movement of people/goods around the continent (ok well Lucanis comprehends this and impresses it on her) and 2. it would be very easy for people to misuse this system and 3. it's a very dangerous place for untrained people to be wandering around, since from letters/etc you can find people do seem to get sucked in unwillingly and unable to get out.

SO I think she'd put some sort of group together for stricter monitoring on Eluvian travel--probably through the Veiljumpers (her faction)/other volunteers. But they DO GET PAID (thanks Lucanis he also came up with this one) by incorporating currier or escorted travel service with this to keep everyone fed/armed/etc. Since that sort of thing pays (Rook argues that picking the pockets of Venatori/Antaam ALSO pays since that's how she made most of her money in Veilguard but Lucanis says this is impractical or whateeverrrrr).

Juniper specifically though is working on mapping the Crossroads. She's going to bully the Caretaker into bringing her to the other islands that are out there eventually it's fine. And figuring out how exactly the crossroads function separately from the Fade. Due to her pre-game fallout with Strife she wouldn't ever feel comfortable rejoining the Veil Jumpers fully but this is a similar sort of magic-science she was doing before anyway. Probably, the wishful thinking here is that this all goes smoothly, and in reality it will become a political mire as various countries leadership will probably start trying to stake claims on parts of the crossroads or argue about access or whatnot--another reason to lock them down asap before they can start warring with each other about it.

Lucanis... I wish I could get him out of the Crows but realistically I don't think it'd happen for a while. So he'd be doing First Talon stuff while Juniper is busy with all the above, but beyond each of their occasional work travel they get back together at either the Lighthouse or Dellamorte Estates most nights. The perks of owning the magic fast transit system is even when you're working in different countries by day you still get to come home for dinner yknow? I do think Juniper grows more and more wary/exasperated with the whole Crows deal once she gets more exposure to Caterina and finding out more about Lucanis' childhood. Also because that's pretty much the worst MIL situation you can ask for. I think in Juniper's wishful thinking version, she & Lucanis would just run away from it together/he'd join her fun romps through unexplored lands, but she recognizes he's tied too much of his idenity to his job and it probably will take 10-15 years to get him less brainwashed about it.

Before all that though they are taking that vacation to whatever is left of Orlais to go wyvern sightseeing of course, though 😌 And dear Sluge the electric aqueous tadpole has beautiful mudpits at both the Lighthouse and Dellamorte mansion (to Caterina's annoyance).

I am not sure if you can answer this, but I thought I'd try. I'm trying to write another longform fic that is more [REDACTED]-centric and am a bit stuck on how I want to proceed. I like to work around core canon concepts a lot, so I'd be happier knowing the answer to this, but I understand if it is too much. :)

Is Angel's memory loss of [REDACTED] in their childhood due to the game itself (Ren's powers or the entity or whatever else), trauma (due to whatever we 'did' for Ren or otherwise), or a combination thereof?

Every time I try to write for this fandom I go in thinking it'll be short and simple and then I'm 10k in with 15 branching ideas, so narrowing them down is hard. :(

The easiest answer I can give is: yes, Angel's memory loss is ultimately tied to the entity found within the game and a major event that happens during their childhood. However, the entity was not the one who made Angel lose their memories!

Without giving too much away... I'd look deeper into Ren, River, and one other character to see how they're all connected. They all have many (deliberate) similarities with each other, and the same goes for their "abilities" within the game!

With that all in mind, I wonder what could've happened to warrant Angel (and another character) to lose their memories... >:3

I can’t help but feel like savathuns about to go down a familiar road as we did, but won’t get the same ending. Shes emotional, angry, had the sibling she had a chance to save ripped from her hands. She’s going to want revenge, and I think it might be the last thing she seeks.

she’s already made it clear she wants that, she’s already scheming again. But her brood is her own, cunning, wise, smart enough to know when to jump ship. Luzaku already dipped, she knew staying by sav’s side wasn’t worth it. And when the rest wise up? See their leader is sending them to die for some “revenge” for a dead family member they don’t know? Seeing her let her emotions take reign and send them into a battle they otherwise wouldn’t want? I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a call for new leadership.

would she die from this? I doubt it. She no doubt has plans for betrayal, I wouldn’t put it past her. However, shed no doubly be left without an alley at her side. I think it’d be ironic, wouldn’t it? Savathun, the hive god who wanted to break away from the “game” as she called it, got what she wanted, to not be involved in the grand scheme of things. What did it cost her? Everything… the hive god who wanted to be just “left alone” gets exactly what she craves… not a single person at her side, and not a soul to care for her.

I personally don't think she wanted to save Oryx, especially not that version of him, which was pretty much set in his ways and not entirely true to the Oryx she knew. Especially after she tried to reason with him and offered him the Light and it angered him greatly. I think that really got to her and it was probably the most honest and real she ever was, but Oryx's rejection of it made her more jaded. It was a chance, but he refused it and it's not even the Oryx she knew: the Echo was just a twisted memory of him. But I think that what she's mostly angry with us about is that we destroyed a powerful artifact that she could've used for herself in whatever way she wanted to.

Savathun's feelings about her family are complicated and she definitely feels something for them, but it's always on some condition and the level of usefulness they have for her. Savathun loves her siblings and her family, but she loves herself the most. She did not care when we killed the actual Oryx, or any of his children, or any of her children, nor does she care about a daughter she left in a time loop to infinitely die over and over.

I also think that she will be left alone with nobody at her side and nobody to care for her. And I can't find it in me to feel sorry for her. She rejected every single option to be reached and to change and to do better. Her whole angry speech was entirely hollow to me. Her telling us that we crossed a line? Her calling us "the Traveler's pet"?

This is, btw, incredible for me narratively, Savathun is SUCH a good character, genuinely one of the best characters in the whole story. Her hypocrisy and manipulation and the ways she affected the universe are peak. But I think that at the end of the day, she can't keep getting away with it, so to speak. After all that in the finale, I am really hoping that one day she will be dealt with like everybody else who thrived on destruction, atrocities and suffering of others. Unless, of course, she decides she's had enough of that and finally embraces the second chance she got.

And all of this is what makes her probably the most compelling character in the whole franchise. I really do want to see unhinged Savathun from now on, and also how she'll deal with Xivu and how Xivu will deal with her.

i need more episodes about adrien just trying new things and gradually figuring out what he wants to spend his time doing, what classes and hobbies he genuinely enjoys, and then eventually, what he'd like to pursue professionally. i never really thought about running before sublimation and while i still don't think that's actually his passion, i love that he connected the act of running to the freedom and joy he gets when he's being chat noir, running around paris saving people. one of my favorite things about adrien that a lot of people in fandom especially in fics miss is that just because he's decent or even great at several things doesn't mean he has a personal connection to that thing. in early ml he was acting in his friends' student films, playing sports to different results, fencing with his friends, participating in band, even modeling for fun. in climatiqueen, he discovered he was decent at drawing, a mess with labwork, quick with languages (no surprise there), and v new to baking—all things he could improve upon but nothing that made him feel passion. but he specified the reason he had fun trying those things wasn't the things themselves but because he was doing them with marinette, same as before when he took skills he was forced to acquire by his father and re-utilized them to hang out with his friends despite not feeling a personal connection to any of those hobbies or talents. i don't know if the show plans on him discovering this soon (they're sooooo young, i hate that he is even stressing about this just because his friends are not normal and because the french school system has most people declare their course of study in lycée) but i'm just excited to see him branch out and try new things and get the life experience he was denied when he was younger. 

and running away from the agreste manor (where he was confined and forced to be a perfect mold) as his first step toward self discovery? brilliant imagery.

format column has no blanks left! does need to be standardized in how i wrote things down, though, and reviewed, because i'm pretty sure i made it before at least one re-release that included tapes.

added 15 songs (mostly covers, 11 of which are covers that saw official release, two of which are demos, one of which is from the sir arne's treasure/sweden live performance. the last song is cover adjacent). they're not added to the public copy of my spreadsheet yet, because all i've added is their names + cover status, details coming later.

figured out where i want to start cross-referencing my sheet with others' lists of tmg songs (annotated tmg, then the wiki, then a couple other spreadsheets that were posted to the reddit and that i've saved for this express purpose)

once i finish that? that means i get to play with the other ideas i've been meaning to add to the spreadsheet! new tabs...

I feel like once the Buddie Roommates era starts post-contagion, they're gonna be having a Eddie-Bed, Buck-Couch arrangement. But Buck's gonna be so traumatized from the call itself and thinking Bobby was dead that he's gonna have nightmares so Eddie insists he shares the bed with him.

And then even when the nightmares stop, they just stick with it.

I know it’s unlikely given how they are in the show, but imagine if Maddie and Jack didn’t take Danny telling them he’s half ghost very well and long story short, gets adopted by Frostbite. So Manny goes to meet Danny’s dad (he knows Danny doesn’t have a mom, just a dad) and meets Frostbite, but instead of being scared of the giant ghost yeti like a normal person, he just shrugs and goes along with it. He probably knows Danny was once a normal human and that he died when he was younger, I mean he jokes about it all the time and it’s almost concerning, but imagine Manny asking Danny if he’s going to grow a tail and horns in the future. Or making another joke like “I can see where you get your tall genes from.”

OKAY BUT THIS WOULD MAKE A REALLY FUN AU ACTUALLY

Like imagine if Danny stayed in his ghost form almost 24/7, even outside the ghost zone, because he didn't take well to being rejected by his parents. The OG Unite group (SB, Timmy, & Jimmy) would of course all know, he'd shift back to human form around them on occasion, but when Jenny and Manny join the team, Danny automatically stays in ghost form so the two just assume that Danny's a full ghost.

And yeah, Manny would totally not bat an eye the first time meeting Frostbite, or the fact that Danny introduces the yeti as his dad. Manny grew up in Miracle City, all the parent/child duos he's met before all resemble each other so of course he'd ask when Danny's horns are supposed to grow in. Danny would laugh and change the subject without answering the question, but Manny's not (completely) stupid, he knows his question struck a nerve he wasn't expecting. He doesn't poke at it, because he wants to respect Danny's privacy, but he does start noticing and naturally picking up certain pieces of information; such as Walker making an off-handed comment to Danny about the "Good-for-nothing Humans" he tossed aside have some new project that's disrupting to peace of the Ghost Zone, or Timmy making a joke about them both knowing what it's like having shitty parents (which is definitely odd because with the way Frostbite was practically fawning over Danny's well-being the few times they visited the Far Frozen, Manny would not use the word 'shitty' to describe Danny's yeti-dad).

Like we know Danny can't keep ghost form when he loses consciousness or falls asleep, so now imagine a scenario in which the Unite Team has a mission that takes them into space in Jimmy's universe. For science/plot reason, they wouldn't be able to return until they got back to Earth, so inside Jimmy's spaceship they're all starting to nod off one by one until Danny and Manny are the only one's still awake. In his exhaustion, Danny rests his head on Manny's shoulder (Manny starts screaming 'FUCK YEAH' in his head), but then he falls asleep and accidentally shifts back to his human form for the first time, nearly freaking Manny out. Because now his totally cute teammate is no long a ghost but a full, flesh-and-blood, human that radiating actual body heat, is asleep on top of him and Manny does not know how he's supposed to process this information.

Danny wakes up when they get back to Earth, (Manny didn't sleep at all) realizes what he did, and will open up about everything. The next day, they'd need to restrain Manny from jumping to Danny's universe and razing Fentonworks to the ground.

i grew up with the mindset that "if i (an adult) cant do it, youcant" and i realise now how wrong and awful that mindset is. truly an ageist mindset. stop belittling young people because you believe they are lesser than you. young people can achieve many things, you just judge them for their age. instead of judging children , how about you judge your mindset and change it. learn that children can do things too, you just judge by age.

ahahahaha well. this was indeed a character exploration about Spite's involvement in Rook/Lucanis' relationship but uhhhhhhh taken to the logical and less favorable conclusion than i have seen in fanfic so far, hence the word "interruption" in the title 😂 posting a longer snippet because... really i've just been writing random scenes for their relationship and am not sure if/when/how i will structure it into fanfic yet (handful of one shots? a longer thing? i am so low on free time though 😭 idk)

timing is after the romance lock-in but before the act 3 romance scene, so Rook & Lucanis are together as a couple but haven't slept together yet... though they may have been heading that way before Spite decided to get involved. under a readmore for length!

STOP, Spite suddenly roars, surging forward from the back of Lucanis’ awareness. The demon’s wings burst forth, their first downward stroke hard enough that it sends him reeling backwards, away from Rook. “What?” he cries, and “—what?” Rook echoes in sudden alarm, as their bodies tumble apart, Lucanis barely managing to throw out an arm to brace his fall as he crashes to the stone floor of the pantry. His feet tangle in his discarded waistcoat and trousers as he leaps back to his feet, nearly sending him to the floor for a second time.

He looks around wildly, for the attackers or whoever else is responsible for Spite’s sudden disquiet. But there is no one. No demons, no Antaam pulled into the Fade, not even one of their companions wandering too close on accident. He fumbles at the table for one of his knives anyway, trying to listen, to figure out where the danger is coming from. “What’s going on? Spite, what happened?!”  There, Spite says, all calm satisfaction now. If you kept going. She would have come. Now she wants more. “She—excuse me? Spite, what are you talking about?” Lucanis demands. She will think about you all night now, the demon replies happily. If you kept going. It would have been over. “I—why would you do that?! That’s not how it works!” “What’s he saying? What’s going on?” Rook stands in front of the bed, frantically staring around too, searching for enemies that clearly never existed. Her hair is still rumpled from where his hands had tangled in it, her breaths still coming fast and heavy.  He cannot believe he has to not only sit here, disgraced and ashamed, but he is left alone in actually explaining what’s happened. “Mierda. He did it on purpose. He thinks it’s—fun. To stop us.” He presses a hand over his eyes, taking a deep breath. “Spite—ohhh. Oh.” “I’m going to kill him,” Lucanis says flatly. “I’m going to take myself out back and—” I’m RIGHT, Spite howls in defiance, baring his teeth inches from Lucanis’ face. Despite himself, he flinches back. You wanted. Her to think about you. MORE! “No, stop that, it’s fine,” Rook tries to soothe him, her hands scrabbling to re-fasten her tunic around her waist. As though this catastrophe is something she can just brush off. “I guess we should figure out, uh, how Spite—how you and he—” “I can’t talk about this,” he mutters into his palm as he drags his hand down his face, dropping to sit back down on the cot again.. “This is not happening.” He knew Spite was a part of him. He was resigned to his presence, was growing used to the new precautions his life involved. He even, though he hated to admit it to himself, enjoyed the extra momentum and power the demon brought when they fought against enemies. What he hadn’t considered was the demon barging into the personal, intimate—   You did it BEFORE, the demon sulks. And it WORKED. She wanted to kiss you more because you stopped. “That was different,” he snaps in response. He ignores Rook’s baffled expression at his half of the conversation.  “I mean—he is Spite,” I guess, Rook acknowledges. “Uh, maybe I should leave you two to talk about this together?”

Panic surges in his chest, as he bites back his urge to shout No! at the suggestion. But she doesn’t deserve to half-witness the mess of the argument he’s already having. He was an idiot. He should never have assumed something might be going right in his life for once. “I don’t even know what to say to him,” he can’t help saying in exasperation. “He doesn’t listen, just does—whatever he wants.” What YOU wanted! You SAID it! I was only HELPING. “Well. You said you didn’t have much experience with, um, relationships—” “I don’t think this counts as the kind of experience anyone has, Rook,” Lucanis responds, dropping his head into his hands again, elbows resting on his knees. “I can’t exactly stop him from—he sees what I see. What I… feel.” Admitting it fills him with shame. He should have told her before this. Whether or not she’s guessed, there’s no avoiding it now, or pretending anything in his life could ever again be normal. Simple.  “No, I just meant—maybe try to explain it to him, is all.” Rook sighs, and he can hear the shift of fabric over skin as she tugs her clothing back into place. He wonders if she can see the bright flush of shame to his skin behind his hands. “He’s only got your memories for how to interpret the world,” she continues. “Maybe he… misunderstood something.” He doesn’t want to tell her that Spite probably understood more than he did himself. Lucanis certainly hadn’t realized just how close she’d been to—he shakes his head to clear away the thought.  “You two will figure this out,” Rook says, with a firm conviction he does not mirror. She leans forward and kisses the top of his head, but he can’t bring himself to raise his face to meet her gaze. “I’ll see you at dinner later.” He hears her soft footsteps pad to the door, and slip away, out of the kitchen and back to the other parts of the Lighthouse. Maybe if he never leaves the pantry, he won’t ever have to think about this again. Maybe she’ll forget the whole thing ever happened.  Won’t forget, Spite cackles gleefully. Definitely. Won’t forget.
