I have many male acquaintances/casual friends IRL, through school. I tend to get along with people regardless of gender. And yet, YET, no matter how polite, friendly, funny, educated and smart they are, with most people (exceptions exist, but this is MOST people), there are inherent problems that come from existing in or alongside Guy Social Spaces as a woman. And Guy Social Spaces wouldn't exist without the guys that uphold them......

In my guy-dominated environment I actually manage to avoid most forms of (non-benevolent; benevolent sexism still sucks and makes me uncomfortable though, and I don't actively befriend guys irl because of how commonplace it is) sexism because I'm openly gay. Not being seen as an object of sexual interest and being able to fit into a bit of a "not like other girls" social role means that I don't actually have to deal with the baggage that comes with heterosexism and the heterosexual sphere (I use heterosexual to refer to all non-platonic relationships between men and women here, btw - for these purposes it doesnt matter what the sexualities of the people involved are). But like.......

I recently went to dinner with some girls and found out that the guys at my school - people that I've found all-around decent and extremely friendly and respectful to me - treat the women they date as objects. Like it's a conquest thing when they """bag""" a good-looking girl, and everyone (literally everyone) shakes hands and congratulates the guy for "getting" an attractive girlfriend. As if she's not right there (she was, she's the one who told me about what happened) and as if she didn't have 50% control of the decision to begin a relationship. And the way they talked about her body and appearance too... It's really gross and objectifying and I didn't know about this because I get to exist outside of it!! But that's really only one thing. Even outside of that, the way that people who don't have to worry about sexism or discrimination treat women and talk about them behind their backs manifests in a million small ways. And the thing is, these guys are ostensibly among "the good ones"!!! These people have intelligent conversations about social justice and equality in class and treat me with respect as a peer because I've proven both my academic and professional cred, that I can take a joke, that I'm funny, that I know enough nerd culture stuff to not be a boring ditzy fake. (The fact that these things are necessary for me to be seen as a peer is, by the way, fucked up.) But their progressive views just don't seem to apply to day-to-day social interactions and relationships....

So idk i dont think this is super eloquently put but yeah. Fuck you if you think being wary or bitching about people in places where they can't see it (ie tumblr rant posting) is a form of hatred lol. Especially when the patriarchy still exists....... you can't "guy positivity<333" yourself out of that one. I don't hate men but the people who say they do must have a reason to. And ugh about this one post that I hated in particular, I hate how it was formulated like "hating men hurts trans women too :(" bestie trans women suffer even more under the patriarchy because they (often) have to interact with guys (including sexist guys and Guy Spaces) growing up and might lose a lot of friends/have things go sour when they transition, I bet a lot of trans women online post about hating men too lol. having "canon" urls of characters or fandoms or people is a commodity.

some people hoard urls (which is against tos to an extent, although tumblr does allow you to have some spares, if you have too many they can be taken from you if they've been unused. to my knowledge if you post on said accounts or use them in any way or switch between urls this tos doesnt usually apply, but some people do get terminated for having like 20+ urls saved)

but others genuinely will wait until they see a url deactivate or change and snatch it up

urls are traded around. fuck if i recall a few years back some bigger companies offered money to users to buy certain urls because they wanted them.

but like, these are rightfully obtained urls by fans. they've waited and snatched them up, it's been a race. i got ones like ghostburboo because i made it within a minute of ghostbur's last name being dropped. my best friend has a fundylive account. i know people who have canon urls, they're not impersonating cc's. they enjoy them or their content and post like normal, but those urls are apart of their tumblr space/identity.

and if a cc asked someone for a url and they said 'sure man here you go' then awesome! but they're not doing that, or they've not yet done anything like that. they just go straight to tumblr or they're vocally complaining on twitter about being unable to get urls they want.

i know for phil tumblr responded to him, and i hope to fucking *everything* he does not get those urls by tumblr taking them from someone. that's bullshit and i'm sorry like- i love phil but that's some bullshit. no one should be allowed to just say "hey tumblr i want my url" and tumblr can go "okay king!" and do it, when someone else got it first. thats how all websites work, if someone got that url first they get it. you cant throw a fit if you didnt catch the worm man.

Peacemaker in Blue Beetle 2006 is Christopher Smith, a PSA

So theres this really common misconception that the Peacemaker that mentored Jaime Reyes in Blue Beetle 2006 is Mitchell Black or some other Peacemaker, basically anyone but Chris, and its a misconception that can only survive if you havent actually read the first half of the run all the way through. However its also common enough to really bother me and since Jaime might be about to get a lot of new fans who may not read his comics I feel the need to make this post collecting evidence. So heres the "Peacemaker in Blue Beetle 2006 is definitely Chris" post.

Going under a read more because this is kind of long because Im gonna talk too much, but if you dont want to read it you WILL just get the gist by just looking at the screenshots included.

Also its Peacemaker so CW for nazi imagery/depiction of nazis in some of these screenshots and mention of nazis, also depiction of someone about to commit suicide by firearm, also mentions of ableism

So this misconception comes from the fact that in early Blue Beetle 2006 Peacemaker tells Jaime and his family that hes Mitchell Black, the third Peacemaker:

This is lampshaded immediately as probably being a fake name just because of how Fake It Sounds (though ironically it is Mitchell's actual legal name, poor guy), and Peacemaker's response to Brenda asking if its his real name is "Its what I told you."

By issue 13 we have Peacemaker being called Smith-Peacemaker by the Negotiator.

By issue 20, which is also the issue that heavily focuses on Peacemaker and goes into his backstory, Chris is referred to by his full name by the Reach.

Chris's backstory in issue 20 is his backstory. This is fully Christopher Smith specific. You cannot apply any of this to the other two Peacemaker's that existed at this time.

So yeah, its definitely him, but Im gonna also really quick go into "so why did he tell everyone he was Mitchell Black?" because I really like talking about Peacemaker.

Basically Peacemaker playing things close to his chest and also straight up lying sometimes is actually a really consistent character trait for him, both in Blue Beetle 2006 and also before that

As for why hes lying its probably because he doesnt want anyone to realize hes still alive, since the chances are high he'd be arrested and either put back in prison, back with Checkmate, or straight up assassinated. He probably started using Mitchell's name because that way he can keep doing Peacemaker stuff. The guy also pretty much didnt have any real freedom until Blue Beetle, constantly being monitored by the government/Checkmate and constantly being under threat of either being forced to fight or forced institutionalization.

In summary Blue Beetle Peacemaker is Chris. Please stop saying hes not Chris. Its so good for both him and Jaime for that to be him and everytime someone says its not him I start crying really loud.

To anyone who may find themselves without heat this winter:

Jackets and coats are great for outdoors, but I've found wearing multiple layers of "normal" clothes keeps me warmer indoors. I usually use some combination of tank top under short sleeved under long sleeved under sweatshirt. Two tank tops or two t shirts seems to help a lot more than more of the looser clothing. Maybe because they're more form fitting so less heat escapes.

For pants, i usually wear a pair of yoga pants under sweatpants. If you're still cold, try tying a blanket around your waist like a towel or skirt. It works best when you're stationary, but you can do it while walking too. It might wear the blanket, though, and be careful not to trip - you might need to lift the edges of it like a dress to walk.

Speaking of, blankets are your best friends. Take them with you to wherever you go in the house. Blanket on the bed. Blanket on the couch. Blanket on the gamer chair.

Drink warm drinks like tea or hot cocoa. Warming from the inside is super effective.

Most people don't know how quickly exposure kills. In harsh conditions like extreme cold, humans will typically die in about 3 hours. The rule of 3s - 3 minutes without oxygen, 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. So though this might seem obvious, try to stay inside on very cold days, and if you have to go outside, try to keep it short.

Unless you KNOW it's safe, STAY OFF FROZEN BODIES OF WATER. If a pet runs out on the ice, DO NOT FOLLOW. Pets are often lighter than their humans and won't break through as easily. What to do if you do fall in. Remember the rule of 3s doesnt apply when you're dripping with icy water. You will die of exposure in under an hour like that. Get out of the water then get inside.

Dont forget your head and neck! Wearing beanies / hats, even inside, as well as scarfs of turtlenecks, helps a lot. I also suggest trying to keep your hair at least shoulder length, so it'll cover the back of your neck. It really does make a difference.

Wear multiple socks if your feet are cold, but be careful not to cut off circulation to your feet. I usually wear ankle socks under big fluffy ones. To stay warmer, consider getting shoes you only wear indoors, kind of like slippers in Japan. Uggs or other shoes like that would be good.

If it snows a lot where you are, buy tall boots. Nothing worse than a shoe full of snow.

*deep sigh*, to preface this long post, the wonderland system is/was a a system on tiktok who doesnt fit many peoples preconceived notions on what a DID system looks like. they have a lot of alters, nonhuman alters, a big headspace ect. so a bunch of very uneducated singlets, ableist people, and the rest dogpiled them. i mean literally making wikis and collaborative google documents about them. its incredibly weird and gross and there are a lot of deeply misinformed tiktoks on that tag im gonna give my thoughts on here.

okay so. this is me just going thru vids and talking abt them if i see one i think i could comment on but its mostly singlets asking basic questions or making fun of things we've known abt the disorder since the 90s and just..i dont recommend looking into it on your own. singlets please do basic research challenge i am so so tired.

anyways, i always like the name to have something to do with a body part of the animal, as that's what all the boys (except remus) did.

A crack theory that accidentally become way more serious than it should have because it somehow, despite my best efforts, ended up making sense

Ok here we go my very elaborate accidental theory, because in order to answer the complex questions simply you must first make simple things more complex or something

First, you need to know that Chara became a Blook cousin by adoption.

All of the Blooks are adopted.

Ghosts are not born into families, they make their own.

Got it? Great, because we’re about to start running

so first, im gonna make surprisingly uncommon claim in this fandom, and I am going to say that undertale ghosts are all dead

I’m taking the tiny details we know about ghosts and sprinting with them to new places

Ghosts also do not have souls I decided

Undertale souls do not work the same as souls in traditional mythology

So every ghost is soulless Unless and Until they become corporeal

Evidence: Monster souls cant exist without bodies, and ghosts are monsters, therefore ghosts cannot have souls without bodies

Further evidence: Asriel doesnt steal blooky’s soul, blooky is unkillable, we have no concrete evidence that blooky has a soul

What about mettaton? He only has a soul after he has completely committed to being corporeal and to a specific body.

Also maddy and mettaton are both only killable while corporeal

Im also connecting the dots we have about souls in a new creative way so let me live for a second

Additionally, i am going to claim that there are a lot more ghosts than just the blooks, some evidence given below

Theres like actual scientific knowlege of ghosts in the undertale verse which seems unlikely if theres literally only three or four

The underground is so much bigger than you think, theres that giant forest in snowdin, a large town in the ruins, the huge city of new home, who knows how much space in the large open areas of waterfall etc. Its really really big okay

Also based off evidence of blooky, we can conclude that ghosts can turn invisible whenever they want to and/or haunt objects to hide

So I personally think that ghosts are, generally speaking, extremely reclusive

And the blooks are just a special exception, a beautiful family, amazing for them

So anyway im going with typical ghost lore for now, for the sake of ease, so im gonna say ghosts generally come from monsters who are particularly restless or unsatisfied when they die

HOWEVER i dont think they remember being monsters or anything before being a ghost. They just kinda fizzle into existance with a fully formed personality and immortality while being unkillable and feeling vaguely uneasy

ALSO i personally think that chara was a ghost for a long time before they became a blook by adoption

Based on game lore, i think ghosts can possess any inanimate object and just kinda wear it? But it takes a lot of strong emotion to become corporeal

And chara is the super weird exception because they were a human not a monster.

They dont have a soul (i headcanon that their soul got destroyed when asriel died)

And they KNOW this, which is a huge part of why they kinda just... give up

Because they lost their ability to fulfill prophecy

Also, without a soul, they lost their ability to reset, so for the first time since falling underground, theyre subject to the relentless march of time

But theyre still weirdly strong and powerful and more emotional

ALSO they DO still remember being a human but they catch on pretty quickly that other ghosts dont have memories and because chara is stupid they just lie to fit in

Theyre too tired to explain themself, they just want to be alone and feel awful

Now back to ghost lore

Emotions are a lot harder for ghosts??? I decided

And they dont know why,, they tend to blame it on the soul thing

But realistically its actually more of the immortality thing making actions not have consequences and/or or not having a body so they cant have a sense of touch or have physical effects of emotion

They all know that ghosts just tend to be way more floaty and bored and numb

And thats part of why the blooks are so special

Maddy’s rage and Mettaton’s yearning and Napstablook’s misery are like... not great all of the time...

but theyre also way way more emotion than most ghosts have,,, they are just a family supporting each other, being as functional as they can,, just an emo(tional) ghost family

most ghosts barely do anything except like stare at walls but the blooks have their snail farm and that helps them have purpose and it is good

And they hold each other accountable and it is nice

So anyway chara just chills and is in a depression coma for a few decades before the blooks find them and are like “our child/baby cousin”

and they raise them for a cool minute

They are all very protective of the new baby emo blook

And chara doesnt get therapy but at the very least they once again have a family, and they decide they want to try to become corporeal eventually just like mtt and maddy

So anyway chara starts hanging out in the ruins a lot more and they finally tell the blooks theyre leaving to go become corporeal in the ruins

This is actually because they are trying to hang out with toriel

because they miss their mom ;;

but chara’s not gonna admit that to anyone, especially not to themself

And because theyre still repressing their emotions constantly and pretending to be fine, they cant become corporeal

And they hang out in the ruins for a long time because they feel guilty lying to everyone about everything

They still feel like its their fault that all the monsters are stuck underground, because they were SUPPOSED to save everyone and they COULDNT and it HURTS

But again, they are doing too much repression to use this guilt to become corporeal,

so instead they just kinda hide and watch toriel from a distance and cry

Blooky visits them the most, thats why blooky is chilling in the ruins so much at the start of the game

Theyre just there to visit their shy baby cousin ;;

Ofc they wont tell frisk about this because chara wants space and privacy and blooky respects that

but maddy and mtt also visit them a lot

Oh also when mtt and maddy start dissapearing, blookys mental health plummets as their family and support system starts to dissolve

Blooky was actually doing extremely well (for a ghost) for a long time, i headcanon,

but theyre doing the worst theyve been in a long long time during the game, because of family issues

So anyway, chara dissapears when frisk shows up, and maddy assumes this is becaude frisk hurt their fragile feelings

Maddy spends hours desperately searching the ruins for chara and cant find them and assumes that they had their heart crushed and went to hide and disappear in a depression coma for another few decades, and thats part of why maddy is so furious with frisk

Like,, to be clear, maddy is still jumping to conclusions and throwing blame around with no proof, but also, its a logical conclusion to come to

And mettaton has already disappeared too and been gone for a while, too, by this point, so it hurts even worse

But anyway, what actually happened to chara is that;

Because chara is a human ghost, not a monster ghost, normal ghost rules dont apply to them

And they can possess living things too they find out

Maybe they knew it a long time ago, maybe its a new discovery, but for whatever reason they end up possessing frisk and theyre like “what the heck”

And frisk still has most of the control

But now chara is like,,, “this is my chance, im a human again, gotta save the world for real,,,”

and they cant explain this to anyone without revealing their past

so they just chill in frisk’s mind while being super crypic and trying to figure out how it works

Pacifist route, this is pretty much exactly what happens

They manage to help frisk save the day

And in my headcanon, the no mercy route is started by frisk who is scared when faced by monsters attacking them

And then chara, who was aready hiding in a semidepression coma for a while, immediately transitions to a panicked “gotta protect this body, gotta protect my chance to be human, i died and threw away my chance to save everyone the first time, i CANNOT lose this chance again”

And so the combination of both frisk and chara is the genocide run

Because frisk kills in self defense, and whenever frisk hesitates, chara jumps in

Also theres leftover feelings from the whole asriel incident

Because again, ghosts come from monsters who died unsatisfied

And chara’s main source of unsatisfaction is how they were trying to get asriel to kill people before he died and then he didnt

So thats a strong strong feeling ruling them

So anyway by the time they both realize how bad its become they figure its too late and also the amount of LOVE has made them numb

And thats when chara who, despite everything, still has idiot hero complex and thinks they need to save the world

So, while panicking, they step in at the very end, and erase the timeline and delete everything

And also to clarify

They DONT HAVE this power at any other point in the game

Because, guess why

They become corporeal

Just like maddy, the no mercy route is the only thing that gives them strong enough emotion to spontaneously become corporeal

So they become corporeal and as soon as they have a soul again and can reset again, they just erase everything

Ok back to fluff

Post pacifist route, they are still a non corporeal ghost

They can still float around and look just like the other blooks

And it takes them a while to open up about things, but they do end up moving back in with blooky so that blooky isnt completely alone

And also they do way better with a family

Also they can float through the mountain and talk to flowey down below and bring him news

And now that they know about him, they can bond with him and explain that they dont have a soul either but that doesnt mean theyre worthless

Oh ALSO

The other dead humans dont have ghosts

BECAUSE

ghosts only come from restless dead MONSTERS

and chara is the weird special exception

Because they were a monster when they died

They became a ghost and asriel didnt because they were way more restless and stressed than asriel was when both of them died

Like sure, asriel felt awful, but chara was the one who was way more like “this is my fault, i CANT die now, the world NEEDS me”

So anyway

charablook the emo tween ghost and asriel flowey the eldrich goat daisy are siblings once more and they hang out and eventually they are okay and have a family again

Let’s talk about if Saihara hated Ouma

So lately I’ve actually seen a bit more comments on how Saihara doesn’t actually like Ouma and people have gone as far as saying he hates him and idk why people genuinely believe it so here I am about to refute that (I’ve been waiting ages to make this post just so you know so this came out as a horribly unstructured ramble more than anything oops)

some notes beforehand:

I have an obvious bias as I do ship saiouma. although i’ll try to be neutral on what I say here, I can’t hide my bias. I have tried to include what people that hate this ship believe to counter them though, also if you ship other things that’s totally fine?? don’t think of any of this as an attack at your ship and I’m not saying Saihara loved Ouma, I’m just tired of people saying Saihara hated him.

You’re allowed to respectfully disagree as long as you don’t berate me or say I don’t know the game when the majority of the screenshots in this are from my own gameplay, lmao.

Glad to know you made it under the cut! now I can begin with where I think people got this idea that Saihara hates him from- the infamous “You’re alone Kokichi and you always will be” line.

I admit this was very cold and still breaks my fragile saiou heart, but to base Saihara’s entire perspective of Ouma on this one line he said while he wasn’t thinking straight is just.. no.. It’s unrealistic. we’ve seen how Saihara is able to adapt his views and grow (I’ll come back to this later), he’s not stubborn in this regard like Momota or even Ouma is, so even if he did mean it 100% (which I doubt because when *anybody* is angry they will say or do things they may regret had they been calmer), it’s not like his view on Ouma from chapter 4 was his final view on him. And that’s what people fail to realise. 

So, how does Saihara view Ouma then?

well, I’d say he’s been interested in Ouma as a detective from the moment he met him with his curiosity piqued at Ouma’s claims of leading a secret organisation.

and he remains curious about Ouma throughout, always questioning why Ouma says certain things, what Ouma is lying for, he just wants to figure him out- and this doesn’t just apply to free time events either

I think you get my point there, now, I think if I didn’t ship saiou and read this, I’d argue these are all pre-chapter 5 and before the breaking line so he may have been curious before but not after- that then brings me to my next point

Saihara was confident- dare I say believed- in Ouma, especially after Chapter 5.

how bold of me to say ikr, but this ties in to Saihara’s ability to adapt his views. He’s sort of like a mixture of both Kaito and Ouma honestly, because naturally as a detective he has to be suspicious and think logically as Ouma does, while at the same time Kaito taught him to believe in his friends which has also helped him to advance in trials. I think he might have extended this belief to Ouma, because he trusts that Ouma is doing what he does for a reason.

In fact, I’d argue he’s the only one of the remaining group who wouldn’t readily accept pinning Ouma down as a villain. If anything, it’s the opposite- Saihara fought to clear Ouma’s name, and never stopped trying to understand whether or not his intentions were true or false

this is what I mean when I say he wouldn’t accept it as fast as the others and would second-guess it, bear in mind this is the moment Ouma “admitted” to being the mastermind. and it’s not like this doubt was sudden or anything, cause I can recall this moment (that I actually didn’t catch on to on my first playthrough)

which gives me the idea that hadn’t Ouma purposefully messed with everyone and built up his bad reputation, it would’ve been so much easier for Saihara to disprove him being the mastermind at the point he said it. 

Anyway, going back to my point- excluding Kaito (cause Ouma directly told him), Saihara is the first to bring up Ouma’s innocence, and this is what I mean when I say Saihara believed in Ouma

note that I say believed in. believing Ouma and believing in Ouma are different, it’s like how loving someone and being in love with someone are two different things, so don’t argue that by saying “he didn’t trust him” because ik that and that’s not what I’m trying to say.

but he did believe that Ouma had his reasons, and he tried to discover and understand them. I mean, take this for example

he’s already on board lool look at him go, but no really look at the confidence

he’s both confident in himself and in Ouma not lying here, then goes back to being curious about his intentions

oh and let’s not forget who it was that searched Ouma’s lab to find clues to prove he is a remnant of despair. Why do you need to search for evidence for something you (and the others even more) think is irrefutably true? the answer is obvious- he was doubtful of it from the start, and needed evidence to convince himself it was true, but then as he found nothing to prove it (and even evidence against it), he had to convince the others of it too- and prove Ouma’s innocence

But as you can see, he’s clearing Ouma’s name as the leader of the Remnants of Despair. 

Now, I bet someone would argue that this only proves Saihara was determined to find the truth in general, because he’s mister detective, so I’ll raise you the fact that Saihara didn’t need to try figuring why Ouma does the things he does- he could leave it at just knowing the truth and if he really didn’t like Ouma like people say then there’s not much merit to it. 

“So what if I know this now? I didn’t care about him, it’s pointless” he could’ve thought something like that, but no

(I also think the “you’re lying again kokichi, there’s a method to your madness” moment fits here too)

Not only this, but there’s also how Saihara learnt from him.

honestly im still kinda mindblown from this ever since I first realised it, but when you think about it, Ouma hinted to Saihara in his FTEs how to win the game.

But if you think about it, Ouma tried this again in his own trial in his attempt at ending the killing game and then Saihara also used this to actually end it

Not only that (which personally i think is pretty powerful in itself), but Saihara also tries to take Ouma seriously and picks up hints he leaves and uses them later

(and generally just)

generally, Ouma will hint and then Saihara will pick it up. it’s been like that for the whole game- why should Saihara give any extra thought to what Ouma hints if he dislikes him?? really, he could’ve just ignored him the same way he did at the end of chapter 4- but again, he didn’t “”hate”” Ouma enough to keep ignoring him, he considered him a friend in the end anyway.

and the end is what I’ll talk about now, too.

first- can we just acknowledge this?

he doesn’t ignore Ouma at all here. even though he didn’t trust him, he was sad to have lost him. 

Not to mention the way he thinks about lying at the end of Chapter 6. (like, please this is just-  *chefs kiss*)

IMAGINE Ouma was alive to hear him say that omg but Saihara could (and probably would) extend what he says here to Ouma himself- y’know, the ‘embodiment of lies’

by thinking about lies in a different angle instead of at face value like this, he gets a more neutral view on them rather than just thinking “they’re bad!!”, why wouldn’t he be able to do the same for Ouma? especially now that he knows Ouma was innocent and actually hated the game as much as they all did. I mean hey, even after chapter 5′s trial he sort of already thinks about lies differently

and throughout this post, I’ve tried to avoid talking about his free time events or his salmon mode ending because people always say “well they’re not canon” and to that I say not canon to the plot, yes, but still canon to the characters. so yeah, I don’t disregard any of them.

from this point onwards these all technically happen before chapter 5, so it’s not entirely relevant to my point that saihara still liked ouma even after the end of chapter 4, but it’s still something that shows he liked him beforehand at least. I mainly just wanna ramble though haha

one thing I’ve always thought was interesting was how Saihara easily lashed out at Kaito in his own free time event

and Kaito is undeniably Saihara’s best friend who he holds in high regard. If Saihara having backbone means he doesn’t like someone then damn bye bye momota have a nice trip in space

in terms of ouma and saihara though 

how about the fact that Saihara willingly sat there and played rock paper scissors (janken pon!) with Ouma 100 times?? bruh I got bored playing that with my brother after 8 rounds yesterday how would Saihara manage 100?? would you really have the patience for that when you don’t even like the person you’re playing with?

Saihara wanted to spend some time with Ouma, that’s- its literally written there I don’t know what you want from me the guy wanted a nice time with someone he supposedly doesnt like

what I love about this is how “reaching out” could be taken both literally and figuratively. Wanting to understand someone and trying to find a way to but them being too unwilling to trust anyone.. damn 😔👊 also shuuichi either wanted to handshake or hold hands, what else do you do when you reach for someone’s hand come on

oh yes and how about that he’s content with the refusal because it allowed him to figure out a small thing about Ouma? understanding that Ouma has a different way of being reached out to? mhm please think about that for a bit

that parallel in the salmon ending too...

he considered how it’ll be like with him after they get out and how he’ll learn about him, then ultimately decided when ouma reached out to him that he does want this, and even comments on the warmth of his hand... afhskfdlj

his blush when ouma mentions how his lies didn’t bore saihara was also a very cute moment

ooh and what about the love hotel???

there’s that one line “I know i’m meant to be Kokichi’s ideal in this fantasy but when he tells me he loves me I feel like he means the opposite” or something like that- i’d argue it’s because he’s cautious of Ouma for one but also am I getting something wrong here or is he talking about how he, Shuuichi, thinks Ouma doesn’t like him?  because I see people argue this is proof saihara doesn’t like ouma but all he’s really doing is just doubting ouma loves him

well in any case

WHY would he want him to stay in a love hotel of all places if he disliked him?! I know I’m just a broken record at this point but I can’t think of anything logical for it. they didnt even need to include that line in the scene at all but they did like they could’ve easily said something to do with realising where he was instead but nah. even after the event’s over, he says to himself

doesn’t he sound disappointed by it? and the fact that he even questions if it was a dream- okay  

ooh, something i’ve realised while writing this as well: it kind of seems like Saihara might not want to like him but does anyway; he quickly ‘smothered the thought’ of staying with Kokichi, didn’t want to admit that Ouma’s lies never bored him, and I also thought about how in one of Kaito’s free time events he says to himself “I shouldn’t be talking about another boy like that”- well, maybe it’s similar for how he thinks of ouma? it’s not like Saihara didn’t care for the others’ opinion on him (probably the opposite ngl if you mess up in class trials he says something along the lines of“Ah I screwed up! They probably think I’m a fraud”) and considering nobody else liked ouma (except for maybe gonta) I wouldn’t be surprised if he felt shame for liking him, thus repressing that feeling (especially around the others, there’s that part in trial 4 where he’s trying to convince kaito he isn’t siding with ouma cause he knows by doing that could damage his friendship with his bro)

I mean this is something I only thought of just now, but it could be plausible (i hope?)

One last thing- I find it incredibly funny how in chapter 2 when ouma is literally on top of saihara he doesn’t freak out or scream and everyone else in the room is also completely chill with it and unquestioning. no really they’re just standing there.. and how long was ouma even in that position for??

Now, I think that’s all. So to finish off, I’ll just say

People get the idea that saiouma is bad because some don’t realise Saihara can still like a person without idolising or putting them on a pedestal. Idk if this is gonna sound controversial or not, but I honestly do think he did exactly that to Kaito and Kaede- which doesn’t make what they have with him toxic or bad at all, I just think his view on Ouma is a lot more realistic and less clouded. Heck, if Saihara canonically liked Ouma as much as he does with the other two I don’t know if I’d ship saiouma as hard as I do (it is fun to imagine though).

If you actually read through this then.. wow? I’m surprised you got through this unstructured mess? I hope you can agree with me for some of my points at least but I’m not here to convince you or anything, this has just been on my mind for weeks now I needed to get it out somehow.

I said it at the start and i’ll say it again now too- i didn’t intend on attacking or comparing saiou to any other ships so I do apologise if I seem like it, i’m just terrible with my wording (lmk if something genuinely offended you, i’ll probably change it) but you’re free to ship whatever you like cause at the end of the day it’s just a bit of fun. that being said, I don’t want to actually argue on this so please don’t haha, i’ve contemplated just deleting this but I’ve put a lot of effort into this post even though i cant analyse for 💩

So basically my point from this morning was that, these fans who believe Freddie was in love with Mary and therefore had to have been bisexual use the song "Love of my Life" as their solid evidence to back up their opinion.

And that's bothered me for days for a few reasons. This post got long so bare with me.

Firstly, because that's what we would call a pop culture source in media studies, and it's a song so it's a piece of art. It's not solid evidence of anything because like any piece of art, songs can have different interpretations. And this isn't English Literature of Media Studies, you can't just get marks for supporting your opinion with an interpretation. This is a real man with a real history. Sometime a rabbit dying in a shipwreck is just rabbits dying in a shipwreck.

But if we look even at the lyrics, it sounds like we have two different 'voices' within the song. The first two thirds of the song the pov character is singing about being hurt and a relationship ending and wanting that relationship how it was to be brought back to them. That's, if anyone, more likely to be Mary's point of view. I'm not sure about the time line but we know he cheated on Mary. We know he thought he was gay before they ended their relationship.

The third third of the song is reassurance that the singer still loves the person they are singing to and will always be there. That's not necessarily the same pov character as earlier. Many songs have more than one character singing, even by the same singer. David Bowie in Space Oddity is probably the famous example.

That second character could be "Freddie" but love in that section doesn't necessarily mean romantic love. Familial love is a thing. Friendship involves love.

It could just be "Mary's point of view" again, too, saying even though you've hurt me I will still be around and love you, with Freddie writing some wish fulfillment there, hoping that he hadnt hurt Mary so badly that she leaves his life completely.

Freddie wrote the song for Mary, yes but he didn't necessarily write it to her to declare his undying love for her. That interpretation just doesnt fit the whole song.

But equally we could just have a song that's universally relatable, or even an unreliable narrator that is an unknown character in the song. Maybe Mary's favourite songs are heartbreaking love songs, and Freddie just simply gifted her a song that he knew she'd like.

If I make my friend a lasagne, and it tastes good, it doesnt make me Italian. It just means I can follow the recipe and I used good ingredients. You know what I mean?

And if we're really going to look at the fact that Freddie had written a lovely song full of emotion as evidence for Freddie being in love with Mary, then- not to throw Maycury shippers under the bus here, especially because I am a Maycury shipper, but maybe we should start really considering Brian was in love with Freddie, given his drive to write songs for Freddie based on thoughts and feelings Freddie might have had or related to.

It's just applying the same logic.

No? Okay.

Lastly, Freddie himself stated multiple times he was gay. And Brian has repeated that fact. Nobody's interpretation matters more than the man's own statement. Also, there is an interview that Roger gave where he's asked about his opinion on gay people and he gave this wonderful but bizarrely worded answer that was something like "One of my gay friends is my best friend" and although he didn't say Freddie, Freddie was his best friend. Process of elimination meets Occam's razor.

And finally, just to really expand on what's bothered me about this insistance that Freddie was in a loving relationship with Mary so therefore couldn't be gay, and by default had to have been bisexual...

There's a post that goes around Tumblr which is basically, sometimes things aren't clear cut in the queer community, with a story of a lesbian having a relationship with a man who everyone thought was sexy. And someone, as the story in the post tells, asked "how does that work if she's a lesbian" - and this person apparently did not change how she identified. And the response from another person in this story was "however the fuck she wants to."

Freddie was gay. Nobody is saying he didn't love Mary. He might have genuinely loved her romantically and sexually at one point, he might have also confused one type of love for another or simply loved the idea of a safe and secure relationship and thought it would fulfill him forever, we will never know. But whatever the nature of their relationship, that doesn't change the fact that cracks occurred in their relationship and Freddie began to explore this part of him. And then, after some inner turmoil and self reflection, found himself happy as a gay man living his life with his gay friends and gay husband (in all but the law), at garden lodge.

The existence of a song doesn't change those facts.

Hater Comments: A Closed Minded Person Hides Behind A Free Speech Argument ( November 14, 2021)

This was a unique hater comment. It was defending a rude emoji post against the lovely Isabelle Turrell. A ludicrous excuse of free speech was used by another hater, who ironically did not like what I said to the first comment. Stephon116 has no understanding of the First Amendment or free speech.

No comment was expressed about silencing someone. The irony here is that the troll wants me not to post. So, according to this logic free speech should only work for you. Well, free speech is for everyone. Second, it applies to government attempting to censor citizens in the US. Disagreement is fine, but this amount of illogic. Private companies can limit free speech, because they are not part of the government. The problem with social media is that it claims to be about free expression, but is biased in who it censors. Instagram is not a vehicle for free speech. Nor is the parent company Facebook. The more Stephon116 speaks the more clueless he sounds

A Facebook post can be removed even if it does not violate rules. Private companies are not the government. Corporations can have influence over the government, but the government cannot censor free speech of citizen. Congress or the Senate cannot hinder free speech or press. Although though out US history they have been constantly under attack.
