him as bapy... and him 17 years later (still bapy)
#GHJb I just remembered about this old picture of him.. oh my goghb....#cats#he looks like such a tiny little dust particle in the first one... just a fragile cotton ball.. only half a braincell floating around in#there..... shimmery wet giant eyes.... Ultimate tiny baby form#I'm not sure about the ageing of kittens but he must have only been a few weeks old or something in the first image#since he seems like... really really tiny. I have some pictures of him as basically only a few days old#which I can tell because all the kittens are just laying in a pile on a blanket in the room I kept them in with their mother#But then past that I'm not sure. Once they left the blanket room all the ages blur together for me lol#Until obviously when they look more grown cattish and are not little baby tiny tiny kittens anymore#Whenever his health gets bad enough that he has to be put down and I end up getting another cat I think it will be really weird to like..#just meet a cat as a whole full grown cat? My main previous experiences with cats were just literally watching them be born#in front of me and being around them since tiny tiny baby infantdom#It will be strange to not have kitten pictures or anything or like.. not literally watch them grow up.#I guess you can adopt kittens too. but probably not at only a few days old since of course they'd still need to be with their litter feedin#from their mother and stuff lol.. Also you always hear that kittens are the most adopted because everyone wants a kitten so you should#go for older cats. etc.#I guess if you get a cat from a breeder you can get baby pictures of them but.. erm.. Expensive. also i want to be the one taking#the pictures lol... I need like some middle aged woman neighbor who breeds cats and would let me casually go over there and#hang out with them and take pictures and then every once in a while adopt one of the cats as my own

If Zandik really loved his spouse he would have set a rotating roster of Segments to ensure that they are never alone for too long. All those Segments and no schedule? How dare!
Ciao, anyways so. Several Dadtorre fluffs.
First idea: Dottore having a crisis and thinking that he is a horrible father, Shinji pose and everything on the chair, contemplating the perceived mistakes he did. Meanwhile, his Segments are staring and him judgy *including* his spouse with a dry stare because their child is literally his biggest fan.
Dottore had taken their child up a summit to point out stars, even told the child how they could tell the skies are false. The stars on that direction are suspiciously repeating like the ones behind them - there was a strange thin clearing between the twinkling stars like there were seams going across the sky.
Once you see them, you will never remember what the false sky had looked like before. The child had been fixated on it since, excitedly chattering that they will be the first one to explore those strange seams in the sky after father had showed it to them. They will discover many things like him, just you wait!
Second idea: Dottore insisting that he is NOT spoiling their child—
Omega drags in the 50th custom toy Dottore has made behind him as he says this.
Never in all his centuries of life did Dottore ever see himself becoming a father - it was something so ludicrous that it never once crossed his mind for very obvious reasons, he knew the kind of man he was. It was you who had to gently convince and reassure him that he could be a good father if he truly tried, and you'd be there every step of the way with him. He had doubts, but he decided to listen to your soothing words - you always seemed to be right in these situations anyway. It really is a great thing that he has you... because sometimes he needs some sense put into that stupidly smart yet foolish brain of his.
Sure, Dottore can be awkward and surprisingly clumsy at times when dealing with his child, but his love for his kid is abundantly clear. He's even surprised you quite a few times by taking the initiative, although in the beginning, he was admittedly a bit closed off (perhaps unsure of if he deserved this, or even if his kid deserved a father like him, if he would unwittingly end up rewriting his own childhood of loneliness.) Despite this, your heart swells at how he continues to get closer and closer to his kid, protecting them from the world.
...Which is why it simultaneously upsets and saddens you when Dottore doubts himself. Like... he's one of the smartest people in Teyvat! How is it so hard to see something that's right in front of him?! His child adores him, constantly looking up at him with pleading eyes when he's supposed to be working (he has to pass them to you otherwise he'll give in.) The kid always clings to him and repeats "I love you" like it's as easy as breathing! What does he not get! The segments giving him looks too are especially amusing... he's literally judging himself.
Dottore doesn't go many places in general, and that extends to his kid, but he does like taking them out, otherwise they'd find some way to get out anyway. He'd rather not have them try to trudge through the snow. (Sometimes, he'd wonder if they'd prefer the warmth of Sumeru like he did.) Unsurprisingly he has a tendency to jump at the opportunity to teach his child anything, loving their expression when he passes on knowledge.
The wide eyes, the round 'o' of their mouth in shock, tiny hands grabbing his sleeve for him to go on. It's no surprise his kid's stupefaction is more intense when he drops that the sky they gaze upon every day is fake. No one in their right mind would ever believe that, but his kid trusts him enough to entertain the thought. They have the same thirst for the unknown just like him. He'll make sure they have the space to flourish, even though he does want them to struggle and stumble to discover the answer. Needless to say, he's extremely proud of his kid.
You and the segments don't listen much to Dottore's vehement defenses anymore. It just goes in and out of the ears. Yeah, sure old man, you're not spoiling your kid but every time they have a request or desired upgrade for a toy, you suddenly disappear into your lab and don't come out until it's finished. He swears he doesn't spoil them but sometimes he sneaks them candy from his stash... (Pantalone lets the misuse of funds slide, only because he thinks it's entertaining to see the Doctor soften up a bit, and he gets to be the cool uncle.)
(Also! You're so right about the schedule of segments! He's such an inefficient man! The segments spending time with you = you're happy = a nice rest and recharge for them = more motivation for everyone = more productivity for them all! A fool, truly, he must see that before it's too late! The schedule is posted every month in the lab, the segments are itching for their turn! Do they make bets for each other to steal time slots? ... Maybe.)

not even lowkey, but high key thinking about how both Dazai and Chuuya since a young age used destructive behaviors to cope/feel something as they both struggle with feeling human enough in their own ways.
The state of Chuuya's mind at the start of Stormbringer reflects in an empty room with a bed, desk, and a liquor bottle on top. How he also stress smokes. Feeling alone and isolated in a way despite being surrounded by The Flags and others because he doesn't feel like he quite fits in. He's suddenly surrounded by people much older than him when he's a kid recently off the streets.
Similarly, Dazai struggling with ideation/attempts and also drinking and smoking from a young age. But the fact he drinks whiskey and shows a high tolerance when he's still a teenager is pretty concerning on its own.
They both lived in homes that lacked personality or gave insight to their hobbies or what they liked to do for fun. They were just places to sleep, roofs over their heads. Chuuya didn't know how to live, but Dazai also didn't as he willingly chose to live in a shipping container and isolate himself from others. It's part of the numbing. It gets him away from all the evil of the world, but also its better parts.
Dealing with mafia-related business and being exposed to violence and death on a constant basis rapidly desensitized them to the point of just being totally and utterly numb because at first they had to be, and now it's just a constant state of being. Dazai saw the worst of what humanity had to offer while in the mafia and he just progressively spiraled until defecting. Even Chuuya being on the streets as a kid and in constant survival mode was exposed to the uglier side of life. There's no time to think about playing video games when he had to worry about getting enough to eat and sleeping with one eye open. Now Chuuya constantly works because he's needed by the mafia, the people, the city.
Going through the motions of everyday life doesn't do anything for them and they look to destructive behaviors to feel something because, deep down, they both have the same fear of losing themselves entirely.
That fear of losing himself is so strong within Chuuya he resists corruption's influence to completely overtake him and he can still recognize faces and speak. He's forgiving sometimes to a fault despite being wronged a lot and it shows he doesn't let rage blindly consume him. He's lost so many people up until now that the times he's snapped and gotten vengeance are few and far in between, but it's normal for people to have breaking points. It's human. Just as Oda's death was the catalyst for Dazai leaving. And people have different breaking points.

current chick update:
there's a total of nine chicks hatched! we've got a bunch of polish, one mosaic, and three easter eggers (one fibro).
there's about nine more eggs pipped and since i'm doing a split hatch (by one day so it literally didn't effect anything), there's some eggs that won't pip until tomorrow.
like, i know there were 39 live eggs at lockdown but that humidity drop was bad so i don't know exactly how the rest are going to go.
but i'll be honest, after that humidity drop, i really didn't expect any of them to hatch so i'm already doing better than i thought and i'm already so in love with them.

I love Jaws with all my heart, so, here I come with a little analysis again!
First off, the title. Bite my neck, drink my blood and make us one type vibes. Sleep Token in general has a massive thing with biting, teeth, consumption and chewing (there's a massive post on Reddit with all the times it's been mentioned, which, if I remember correctly, is around twenty), across their discography, and Jaws is the immediate beginning of this trend.
Jaws are a sign of power, destruction, love, sadness and joy. We bear our teeth when we're happy, when we're angry and when we eat. It is the ultimate metaphor for so many emotions. You don't know someone until you've seen them destroy something, to shout and scream and chew and bite, hence the line "show me those pretty white jaws; show me where the delicate stops". He's asking to see the real them, whoever they are.
All the lyrics have this underlying religious tone, as most Sleep Token songs do, but here it's more directly addressed. "Stained glass" is almost always associated with Churches and Cathedrals, and presents 'them' as something Holy; something that can and will be worshipped. However, the line "Whites of your eyes burn" completely removes all the ideas of safety that surrounds a religious figure. Of course, when it comes to divinity and sin, fire is a massive symbol we have to talk about. To burn is to suffer, but to be cleansed. It's this double entendre that presents this figure of safety as one who is also a threat. A predator.
Then, of course, we have "And I'm not here to be the saviour you long for". Unfortunately, Vessel seems to be in this constant battle of 'I can fix them; we can fix eachother. We're gonna be fine!' and 'I fucking hate you; leave me be or I'll have at you', which is what's seen in this one. Neither of them are the saviour the other one yearns for, yet Vessel still tries. He asks, and then repeats over and over, creating the tone of begging and pleading, for them to show him what they've lost and, in turn, show him love.
He's asking them for the two things they can never genuinely give, but he never stops trying because God forbid the things he'd do if he was alone again.

along the lines of this post how do we feel about chris's friends (i'm thinking sandra cuz i'm brainrotted but it could be almost anyone really ghldskfj) seeing a rare photo of him as a child (god knows raymond and celia didn't take many, and the ones they do have are heavily staged portraits taken for "special occasions") and suddenly feeling overcome by how small he looks, realizing that this is the kid that all the abuse that chris has accidentally confessed to over the course of their friendship happened to, feeling a protective rage suddenly come over them because how the hell could raymond and celia treat such a small thing this badly???, wrapping him in a hug the next time they see him because it was already horrifying to hear about the shit he's been through but actually seeing the kid he was puts it all in far more sickening perspective.........

RDR2 Horse analysis - Dutch Van der Linde
Hi, hi, don't mind me I'm just going to ramble incessantly into the void about the horses in RDR2 and how they reflect their riders. The RDR2 game developers and writers clearly put a lot of time and effort into designing the horses and the various breeds and choosing what horses the gang would ride specifically. There are lots of discrepancies between how the horse breeds and colors are represented in game and how they would be referred to in the real world, and I'm choosing to believe this is fully intentional. Any such discrepancies I point out are therefore not intended as a criticism, just. FYI.
This will of course contain spoilers for both RDR games.
First up is the easiest! Dutch!
Dutch rides a horse called The Count, and this is a very obvious allusion to his own sense of self-aggrandizement and import. Dutch fashions himself an outlaw prince, a king in waiting, a philosopher, and so of course his horse must be named for nobility and royalty. Dutch on The Count also just references a lot of imagery about european kings and riding noble white horses (like that one very famous painting of Napoleon on his grey horse) which also evokes imagery about man conquering nature and such.
The RDR2 wiki indicates The Count is an Arabian, which is probably the best breed of horse in the game--there's only four available to the player, one of which doesn't even show up in the game until the epilogue and therefore is never made available to Arthur. I suspect perhaps The Count's breed information is in the game data, but in game there is no way to know this. It does not show up in the compendium and the study feature only lists the color and stats. The information is blocked from the player, as if Dutch himself is preventing you from knowing The Count's breed lest you find a horse of similar quality.
The only information you get to know about The Count in RDR2 is the handling (elite), the stats (awesome) and the color, albino. Albinism exists in horses just like in any other animal, but it indicates very little about which breed the horse is, because it's just a genetic quirk. There are a couple of physical characteristics that differentiate an albino/white horse from a grey horse in real life--namely, there will be no pigment of the skin, hooves, and eyes in an albino horse. It is far, far more likely that a horse would be grey with a white-appearing coat, with dark skin, hooves and eyes. The Count does appear to be an actually albino or "white" horse as it would more commonly be called in the horse world. Dutch choosing to call it "albino" is an intentional choice and is probably intended to reflect the "specialness" of his mount and therefore himself.
This is important because it lends a credulity to Dutch and everything he says he is. He may be a narcissist, he may have delusions of grandeur, but he does have the rare, unique horse, the one that is unlike any other horse in the game, the only one of its coloration, because the other "white" Arabian horse in the game actually is grey in its coloration as you'd define it IRL (dark skin, hooves, eyes). He does mean what he says, he doesn't intend to get everyone killed, he just--can't help himself. It's not enough for Dutch to have the rare thing. Dutch has this fantasy of himself as an outlaw prince and so of course he has to ride a "white" horse like Jesus is supposed to in Revelations. That image is something Dutch proves throughout the game he'd go to any length to protect. He needs to gatekeep and protect it to maintain power, and prevent anyone else from obtaining something even close to similar.
And what's more, we learn of The Count that he's tempermental. He bucked Arthur off the one time he tried to ride him, because The Count "will take no one but [Dutch]." IRL that is very unusual behavior for a horse tbh. There's such a thing as incompatible horses and riders, especially if the rider isn't very experienced, but it's much more likely Dutch trained the horse to buck anyone else off, especially since we see Arthur is capable of working with and riding pretty much any other horse in the game including others of the same breed. And if he did train the horse to do so, it just lends more creedence to the idea that Dutch did so out of ego, to protect his image. The Count has to be the most temperamental and special of all the horses because if it wasn't, if Dutch had anything less than the best then he would feel his ego slighted.
Add to that the fact that The Count is the only horse in the group--of the gang members at least--that has "elite" handling is notable as well. These people are thieves and outlaws, they SHOULD all have "elite" horses, especially the ones who are actively taking part in all the action. But no, only Dutch. Because he has to be above everyone else. Because under no circumstance can he allow others to be faster, better, stronger, not even his allies. Arthur can't even purchase an "elite" horse until Sant Dennis, where there's a black Arabian in the stable.
And Dutch shames him for it! They have a horse race in Lemoyne to the second base camp, and he criticizes Arthur's skills as a rider, despite the fact that he's the one who rigged the deck. He tells Arthur it's "a shame he never really got the hang of riding" and it's because Dutch needs Arthur, needs him thinking he's dependent on Dutch, needs him thinking that he'll never be the man Dutch is. The fact that he knows Arthur loves horses, the fact that he is good with them and has been able to work with any horse he tries to ride except The Count, only makes the comment meaner, more effective, more humiliating. Your mileage may vary on what you think Arthur's internal reaction to this was. Mine was indignation and outrage on his behalf because Arthur has been the only reason the gang managed to stay together to this point and Dutch knows that, and is punishing Arthur for it here.
Dutch may love Arthur, may even know Arthur loves him. But he doesn't believe Arthur would stay with him and stay at his side no matter what, and he spends so much of the early half of the game trying to make absolutely sure Arthur has no thought of leaving, whether he has to use cruelty or kindness or praise to do it.
This is actually why in my first playthrough I chose to ride Bluell as soon as I got him, because firstly, he's a breed and color that actually exists (Cremello, Standardbred), and like The Count he's "elite." He also mirrors The Count's coloring in a way that's actually real and "obtainable" so to speak (Cremello colored horses are not common but they do exist in the world, you can go out and buy one if you like, you can breed for it). Dutch can have his dreams and fantasies, Arthur has something realler than that, more meaningful.
Bluell represented (to me) Arthur's blossoming into a truly redeemed man even as he died (obviously I played high-honor Arthur). And on top of that, Bluell was originally owned by a man who, imo, in this game represents the kind of person Arthur could have been, had he never met Dutch. A man who loved nature and loved living despite his suffering and struggles, who could have lived peacefully if Dutch had actually wanted that for anyone.

It’s spring here n whenever I think life is tough there would be a butterfly that would follow me from time to time when I go out. And I just remember everything will be ok~
It’s interesting how things have changed, how terribly afraid of butterflies I was. And now I have an even greater appreciation of them~<3
