Baptism By Eclipse

A ritual to inspire radical change of the self

Before the eclipse, prepare ashes of cedar and mesquite wood

Make a pitcher of the following and be sure to charge under the sun for several hours. (Do not drink!)

water

rosemary for mental power and motivation

bay leaf for manifestation 

sage for wisdom

lavender for peace and acceptance 

cinnamon bark for personal strength 

comfrey for protection during transition 

Prepare three offerings of your choosing for the sun, moon, and earth.

Just before the eclipse, invite the mind, body, spirit to the ceremony

"I invite the Human Spirit in the form of the Sun, the Human Mind in the form of the Moon, and the Human Body in the form of the Earth to witness this ceremony. As these three celestial bodies align, I offer the following gifts in exchange for your favor." 

Present the offerings. 

"I ask the Earth, the body, to nurture me and guide me through this time of transformation as you have always done."

As the eclipse begins, use the ashes to draw a dark circle on your forehead and say,

"I ask the Moon, the Mind, as you eclipse the sun, let your shadow pass over me and carry my old self with you when you depart."

Meditate on the aspects of yourself you are letting go of, visualize yourself releasing these things, picture yourself as an empty vessel, a clean slate.

As the sun begins to appear say,

"I ask the Sun, the Spirit, as you return, let your light shine on me and grant me the strength to manifest my best self. " 

Pour the water over your face, letting it wash the ashes away. 

Meditate on the person you will become. How will you act, think, feel? Feel the suns warmth on your skin, charging you. Feel the herbs working their magic to inspire you and guide you. You will be a better version of yourself.

A Saga of Ponies

Not super happy with the name Moon Veil, I wanted to give them all names that referenced certain books but I didn't want to use just the actual book titles as their names. I spent forever trying to come up with a name for her though. There's not really any other names I could think of that mean New Moon. I thought about just giving up and using that as her name but I don't think New makes a great first name for a pony.

A few I sort of considered were Shadow Moon, Shrouded Moon, Dark Moon. I didn't really like any of those either. I ended up just going with Moon Veil. I guess because a New Moon is hard to see so it's "veiled in darkness"

Her cutie mark isn't really accurate to what a new moon is since I added a little bit of light around the edges. It just looked a bit too plain without that though.

I had a lot of fun with their hair. I tried to make it look like what they are named after.

Twilight is just there to complete the set.

I went to go watch the eclipse yesterday.

There were some people there with very fancy equipment, but I just had my phone and a viewer I stuck over the lens. We could see progressively more and more detail on the slopes of the mountain in the distance, as the light dimmed.

And then the light on the horizon started to change, and the mountain fell fully into shadow.

It was beautiful. Like the sky had broken.

In KC's defense, the bloodtwins are very much reliant on primarily eating blood and meat. Probably just a force of habit for him to get a bunch of the same stuff. That or he's trying to get you used to eating by giving stuff he knows you like.

Hmmm… is Moon weaker on a new moon?

Sorry not sure if you’ve put it somewhere if Moons power varies at all with the Moon phases

But if so then they were both a lil screwed with the solar eclipse since it’s always a new moon with a solar eclipse

So add that to Sunny getting absolutely drained during it and obviously Eclipse getting stronger during it and yeah they were a lil screwed

During a new moon he wouldn't be at his weakest, but he also wouldn't be at full strength. As mentioned by the imp twins in TCIT. Moon is at his strongest when the moon is full, and during blue moons. Other times his powers are fairly average.

Also I do forget this at times, but he CAN do another kind of moondrop magic with water. But only when the moon is at its highest point in the sky. He can do it during all phases except "new moon".

(Sun can as well, when the sun is at its highest point)

And ye, the odds were not in their favor that day.

Solar Eclipse; Siblings

Siblings are weird, i would know, i have two, but sometimes, you cant help but love them, even if they piss you off sometimes. Or maybe, they dont ever piss you off, and the two of you get along all the time, to which i say impossible, but less, it’s your sibling(s), not mine. And i dont think i just mean siblings that are blood, i mean anyone you see as a sibling counts. They make you smile as much as they annoy you. Your siblings could be your best friend, or your ‘worst’ enemy, but over all, you’re glad they are here. They might not always be blood, but they are family. :
