There's a part of me that thinks that the reason why Margaret Beaufort isn't all that well-liked in her portrayals in fictional media is partly because she can’t be sexualised.

Oh, absolutely! This is very evident in Gregory's novels where she is described as 'ugly as sin'. We all know the first thing mocking a woman for her appearance does is to single out said woman as particularly inferior, evil and/or undeserving of love and respect. It is, of course, convenient to blame a woman to absolve a man.

Everything about Margaret Beaufort is villainised, even her piety — which is another thing that makes Margaret so difficult to sexualise: there's no evidence that she ever had some great romance. On the contrary, she took a widow's vow of chastity whilst her husband was still alive. In the Gregory-esque logic of thinking, a woman is either beautiful and desirable and good, or ugly and frigid and evil.

mostly because I LOVE the art styles for the Mirage comics and for Mutant Mayhem, and it was really fun trying to incorporate some of that vibe into my art work! I'm also really fond of the little picture of my versions of Leo and Raph that I added onto my post for day 22 because they're my baby boys and I love them! 💙❤

I'm only just now realising that I never got round to drawing Donnie for any of the prompts! I'm sorry Donnie! I really wanted to get more of these done but life kind of got in the way this month! Maybe I'll do some more of them and post them anyway...

Holy shit I love your Dirk interpretations, it's so true and I could talk about this shit forever. I feel like another part of his character that people seem to forget (along with Roxy for some reason) is that he's from the future in solitude in an apocalyptic wasteland. I just see that part of his character always removed which is disappointing because I feel like that's a pretty big part, especially regarding his themes around technology, his brother's theme of Time, his own isolation, and how he plays in the vastness of the universe and spacetime.

Art I drew related to the subject because I like to respond to asks with art.

But absolutely. I certainly understand where the lack of discussion over his isolation + upbringing comes from, considering a majority of the fanbase that I have seen builds their ideas based on their own version of postcanon. I’m not entirely sure how that would be fixed, but certainly even in the somewhat recent past I would see a lot more content regarding his upbringing both literally and symbolically. I don’t have much to add regarding the things you’ve mentioned, because they just are what they are. Dirk being confined to a singular room left to him by a father figure he never met, in a future where the only other person left on the planet is someone he cannot pursue a relationship of because of himself, with purely 3 robots to keep him companion, one being an exact replica of his own brain who is *also* trapped inside a pair of glasses, is about as literal as it gets to me.

The contrast to me involving the flooded, organic world in comparison to the little speckle of Dirk’s apartment packed with the dude and his technics is not only a representation of his isolation and entrapment within himself, but also of his lack of control. I think his obsession with & themes of control are a direct product in the case of Dirk specifically *of* this kind of upbringing. His themes of technology are also related to his themes around control. So much of his character is actually revolved around this to me like so much. Dirk is so deeply disconnected from humanity in every way and so much of his character + symbolism is based around that.

It doesn’t even have to be about the symbolism or anything though. It’s just pretty *interesting* in the literal sense that he lives in the middle of the ocean in the future. There’s not only a lot to theorise on to do with his young life there, but on how it might affect him in the way he acts for the rest of his life. The latter part is probably what I see mentioned the most by people talking about Dirk regarding this, I’m surprised I don’t see more discussion on the former too though. I really ought to actually talk more about Homestuck stuff on here. I will do it myself.

Roxy & Dirk’s relationship is largely ignored though because there is a narrative a certain demographic spreads that Dirk resented and blamed Roxy for her interest in him, and thus too many people believe that their relationship was or would continue to be an abusive one. Realistically, I believe it’s important to acknowledge that the way Roxy treated Dirk regarding his homosexuality wasn’t right while still acknowledging the obvious amount of respect and admiration Dirk had for Roxy. I mean we have a huge piece of dialogue from their post trickster mode conversations on the quest beds from Dirk purely stating how he feels about Roxy that people completely ignore somehow. I think this usually happens to characters that are women though. I know everyone says it, but it is true. Jane gets the exact same treatment of boiling her down to solely her negative aspects. The things I see completely mischaracterising both of them are horrific.

I mean how much more explicit can it get that their relationship is obviously very important to Dirk? But I digress. I think the best or I should say “most interesting” interpretations of their relationship usually come from DirkRoxy shippers actually.

I would be interested to hear about Dirk’s relation to his brother’s theme of time though. I don’t have any thoughts on this and I don’t recall ever hearing anyone talk about it before. If you or anyone else would be willing to enlighten me I’d be thrilled.

Jack’s family, Ruggie’s grandma, Falena, Maleficia, Ms.Rosehearts, Just now Vil’s dad is in the picture which I am really happy but now I’m wondering about his mom, and so Deuce’s mom.

I mean, some HAVE a silhouette!! It could mean they do have a design in the making/ready to show. They could’ve shown us Falena in the Tamashina (hope I said that correctly) event, but didn’t (prolly to make Leona not so σ(▼□▼メ) and it’s understandable)

Anyhow, any idea/headcannon about this? Who do you want to see first?

I'm wondering if everyone might eventually get a travel event? like they've now introduced with Vil's that it doesn't have to be specifically hometowns, so that opens things up a lot! (especially if they have to figure out how to do three separate Coral Sea visits) (how would that even work otherwise)

but yeah, I hope everyone gets a chance! there's a lot of backstory characters I would LOVE to meet. :D :D :D though I do think some of them don't really suit the more light-hearted tone of the events (pretty sure you're right about that being why Falena wasn't in Tamashina-Mina, that would've just been. too much for Leona.) so like...we're probably not ever going to meet the Rosehearts. or Maleficia (although I maintain that this would be THE funniest possible way to introduce her outside of the main story, and actually I would love this a lot, can we please Twst) (I need to see her to put Malleus in a froofy little outfit and tell him what a handsome boy he is). but they've sprung surprises like Kifaji on us, and honestly anyone who shows up and tells embarrassing stories about characters' childhoods is good in my book!

characters off the top of my head who I most want to meet: literally any of the Zigvolts, Azul's mom, Ace's brother, Che'nya's grandfather (<- I think he would be a good one for Riddle) (please just any non-terrible adult in his life), any member of Rook's family because I need to see how they managed to produce him, and...really just whoever they can come up with for Silver.

6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list?

Probably one of the two new chapters I mentioned in my last answer (whichever one strikes my inspiration first).

20. Any plans to work on original fiction this year?

It depends on what people consider to be original fiction. I want to write a novel about the events of 1483-85 through the eyes of Margaret Beaufort, Henry Tudor and Elizabeth of York (the three people imo who made Henry VII's ascension possible—including himself of course lol). It's mostly a wish born out of frustration after reading too many novels where Elizabeth of York blames her mother for everything instead of being her partner and where Henry Tudor does fuck-all despite the extremely interesting political scenario of France and Brittany at that time. I would LOVE to have Henry in awkward situations standing between Anne de France/Beaujeu and their cousin Louis d'Orléans as they're fight for the regency. I would love to have Henry navigate the extreme conspiracies going on in Brittany whilst Duke François was ill, all of that as Henry tried to get support to his own cause. I would also love to depict the beginning of his relationships with Giles Daubeney, Thomas Lovell, (later bishop) Richard Foxe and (later cardinal) John Morton. He made some long lasting and trusted friendships during that time and it's never portrayed in fiction, which is a pity. I'm getting too carried away lol I can talk more about it later if you want.

But if people don't like to include historical fiction in the 'original fiction' category, then I do have plans for writing original characters but I don't plan on doing that this year, no.

Aw, thank you!! I believe "rail thin" is closer to canon accurate, but I thought it would make a little more sense if he had some beef to him, haha. I was worried people not be all for my design of him, so I'm glad to hear at least someone is! <3

10. Who drives and who picks out the music?

Both drive, I just think it's dependent on their mood or who's more tired; Oliver would insist so he would drive a majority of the time though. As for the music, it would definitely be Oliver, I think most hc him as half-blood – though, it can be the same in muggle AUs, I don't think Percy listens to music often in general, maybe classical music if he does? BASICALLY I think Oliver would have more music genius than Percy would so he'd choose the music

14. Who does fashion shoes after a mall trip and who watches and compliments them?

This is an interesting one and I'll go with the unorthodox option and say that Percy would be the one to do the fashion shows but like as a joke? The way I imagine it is at least is that Oliver likes to spoil him and Percy uses the "fashion shows" as a way of repaying him because Oliver will refuse to let him pay him back with money

22. How do they apologise after arguments?

I'm gonna section this off

If Percy is at fault then I feel he'd isolate himself because he's bad at communicating his feelings but at most it would take him a few days, no more than a week to properly apologise. It's a quiet thing, he probably does it when they're about to sleep or when they're leaving for work in the morning but Oliver appreciates the sentiment anyway

If Oliver is at fault he would apologise immediately as he's realised he overstepped or said something wrong or depending on the intensity if the argument I think he would apologise a few hours later

8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?

Besides the historical novel I talked about in the last ask I asnwered, there was this one AU I was super happy to create in my head but that I've never committed enough research to pull it off: a Downton Abbey-esque situation at the turn of the 20th century in which Henry Tudor inherits the estate of a distant cousin (Edward of York) because of an entail — Edward's family is left with nothing unless the new owner marries one of the daughters etc. There was a certain clash of ideas in those last decades of the 19th century/first decades of the 20th century which I think could parallel the transition into the modern period in an interesting way. But I don't think this would be the year for me to try this story in the way I want it. I don't know lol I'm trying to take baby steps to easy myself back into writing.

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes this year?

I've never really committed into any alternate history AU but I think it would be a good time to try a chapter or two. I've also always imagined how to approach deathfic (from the perspective of the dying person) but I still think it's too difficult for me to pull it off without my story coming off as too cliché. Who knows! I might find a way I'm satisfied with this year.

hi viktor, pokemon are those animal shaped beings that will possess some type of affinity to some of the powers demonstrated below. they most often live wandering in the wild, but they can be captured (read: domesticated) and are most often maintained in this ball, for convenience's sake of not having a bunch (mostly 6) of volatile elements hovering around you.

if you want to capture a pokemon, you throw this ball at them and if they're willing they will go in. but, if a pokemon is not willing you can use another pokemon's attack to weaken it until it agrees to it. I forgot to mention it earlier, but their origins are from an anime whose protagonist is Ash Ketchum from Kyoto and his goal is to become a master trainer of Pokemons, If I'm not mistaken? they have a bunch of creation myths about their pokemons, but my knowledge ends here. You look a lot like an Espeon, though
