VIV is constantly criticized by her own fault.
TW: Mention of: SA, Rape, Transphobia, fat phobia, Antiblackness.
(Hey, i'mma probably do a post eventually about episode 4. Btw, awfully shit, worse than I thought it could be... BIG TW OF R-PE AND SA IF YOU'RE GOING TO SEE IT. AND TW of the minimization of those topics too.)
(SORRY FOR BAD ENGLISH IN THIS POST TOO)
BUT I NEED TO CALL ATTENTION TO THIS! One of the reasons I criticize a lot of Viv specifically is because of how much she puts herself out there. She sees something she posts on Twitter about it a shit ton (even on "threads" lol). AND because of how lacking of improvement she has being. (I personally know people I have considered terrible when we were teens, but I have seen legit improvement from them in recent years. They seem like people who struggle, but got to grow up and made up for any problems (or pain caused to me or others). People have the ability to change and become better. Something that matters at pointing out issues or discussing-is the idea of creating change on others. It is better to get someone to change for the better than to cast them into the forever jail of nothingness (unless, IDK, they Sexually Assaulted someone, for example). Specially when they are young people. Doesn't mean YOU have to stick with other people that hurt you, no. Doesn't mean people get to do what ever and get away with it.
BUT All of this problem I have seen from Viv are from age 19-30. (you can change at anytime btw) And see constantly repeats herself and her actions. Seems to have never accepted criticism (said by herself too), and never able to see her own faults. The fact that is a continuous behavior is a problem, how she always responds is awful. My post of "Viv has being transphobic for 10 years", was to signal that. If she really had changed over those 10 years to a genuine thing- I could've taken that! But no, the shitty double standard against trans men... the weird treatment. THE MANY STORIES OF EMPLOYEES GETTING MISGENDERED HEAVILY, TOO.
(I know people who were transphobic [When they were teens mainly], that Genuinely improved and changed their beliefs. Now they treat trans people with respect and care! And still learning about gender-fluid people, too!)
It just seems to be further and further away from getting better! The fact that she only decides to take in account voices from SA victims that agree with her- it's painful as a victim, my self!
And yes, people who sent gore or dumbass shit to Viv (or the team) don't help. And go get help why you're looking and sending Gore to anyone. (Also, stuff like this does lead to people not listening to others people genuine callouts). The fact that I criticize something doesn't mean I agree with the people that go and do shit like the thing I just mention above.
AND ALSO A IMPORTANT THING HERE!
This drawing was created by DollCreep. BUT ALSO FUCKING REMEMBER this was done in response to the shit that Viv drew of him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you didn't know Viv drew a transphobic caricature of DollCreep using the name Jojo (his old nickname). This put together with a shitty anti-sjw meme video. DollCreep is a transman, Viv drew a character based on him. A furry wolf girl, If you can see in the image the main thing listed below the character name is the fucking "Sex=♀️". SO ON PURPOSE, CHRIST. Like... AND YES-is shitty from both to have drawn this (even if it was in respond) mainly immature in DC part. But that, or any toxicity coming from DC, doesn't delete the transphobia here. (imagine drawing a racist caricature of a poc person, because they are shitty to you). THE POST LINKED ABOVE SHOWS THE SITUATION, and in the end of the day. Viv says that DC is an abusive shitty person to her, but never realizing her own faults or anything she could'be possibly done wrong! (and again, any wrong done by DC in general can not be deleted by the fact of having being treated badly. If he did shitty stuff himself, that doesn't delete the wrong done in general to him or to others by viv)
Here about transphobia:
Tumblr media
(this is like 8yrs old too)
Again, she never acknowledges anything that she might have done wrong. "She is a thoughtful person, that wants tor write queer and disabled characters! She wants to tell empowering stories of..." It doesn't even feel close to that when people bring up actual problems in her writing that are stereotyping or bad, and she just yells and cries. It all feels like empty sticks she is only interested in in the surface level, she doesn't want to actually deal with.
When she says "This characters is black guys ♡♡♡" and then the fucking 7th, a grayish character with zero black features. She can not actually try and draw a black person with a different hair texture, she'll faith is hair isn't straight and spiky (has done this so much too). She is all for positivity and diversity (can not draw more than 1 character that isn't a fucking stick with the same stupid face).
She can not write relationships in general. She cannot do gay couples, then don't lean on the stupid old uke uwu defenceless x big rough seme protector stuff. Again, all the interactions with Husk and Angel are sexual harassment. They are already a revealed future couple (and episode 4 is terrible for them, specially with that song). Stolitz is toxic, and predatory. That is not acknowledged, and all Stolas's predatory behavior and power dynamics are put in the background, cause- "look how sad Stolas is :(! HIS DAD IS SOOO MEAN, HIS WIFE IS A BITCH". All her gay characters are in pure surface: over-sexual twinks that are assholes, which also fit into the top/bottom as personality boxes.
Any other point includes sexual harassment as a joke. BUT KNOW SHE WANTS TO BE LIKE "GUYS SA STORIES MATTER, LOOK AT WHAT I WROTE" as if she didn't lean back into the problem of the diminishing of SA and r- (in general and done to men) with her jokes in HB. With all the sexual harassment that Angel Dust puts on Husk and others. (AND YES THERE IS NO WARNING IN EPISODE 4, FOR ITS HEAVY TOPICS! I do believe all series/movies with this need it. SPECIALLY IF IT'S SO GRAPHIC! "Sexual content" is not the same as a warning for SA or R-pe. An adult can see a movie with sex or sexual nutidy- when they see that- but it's different to get straight assault on screen. Victims can watch movies/series with sex in them all good, you cannot just group consensual sex in the same assault or R-pe...)
The thing where Mammon (the only fat character that isn’t from the fucking background.) is like FIZZ YOU NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT. AS IF SHE COULD EVEN DRAW ANY DIFFERENT BODY SHAPE WITHOUT DYING. Like there is only Mimzy (hasn't appeared yet, not given any importance. In the female lead show). Mammon the piece of shit (does the same as Blitz, but he is actually fully bad.) His design is done with 80 fucking layers on top. Like all the test of the skinny character's clothes suck up to their body except for Mammon. His body is hidden in layers upon layers of clothing (that's all you got?). All you main guys need to fill "the skinny have nothing men" and "skinny woman with big hips and legs, but no fucking stomach"?
AND YES! VIV DOES DO THE FUCKING, "FAT = FOOD LMAOOO". You know the thing HH fans and hater where like the "Bee needs to fat thing is bad, cause of fat = food (only food) is reductive and shitty"
(Can I refer to how the show Bojack H, make Diane gain weight cause of anti depressants- and it wasn't a joke! And she was happier too?)
Tumblr media
(mine, from post right below)
... like is a bundle of issues. And Viv will never accept that she might be /or is wrong. That's why it hits the fan with stuff. -And again I liked many of the little concepts and stuff in HB and the original pilot of Hazbin. Shit- I still like Sir Pentious and Nifty. I do like Mammon as much as he is a pack of problems to call out, I fucking love the piece of shit Australian jester- The artist work hard on it, and I'm happy it's an openly queer! (as limited as it gets, too....). I liked Huni-cast, I loved the original voice cast! -and that happens! I could be writing this about other stuff too, not only Hazbin... if I created this blog earlier- IT WOULD ALL BE ABOUT RWBY, DANGANRONPA, even svtfoe...Ladybug... or Agretsuko's ending too. So yeah, sorry for the long post (as if all my post weren't)

A little frustrated lately with the Hazbin fandom
Tumblr media
At the present moment, it's been about 3 months since Hazbin Hotel's first season dropped. It's a lot of story at once, but it's also a proper start ever since the pilot era.
I'm sure most people expected some sort of controversy coming from a show that takes place in Hell, whose main characters include porn stars and murderers, but personally, I didn't expect the biggest ones to come from the fandom itself.
From the start we've heard of all sorts of tone deaf opinions coming from inside the house, included but not limited to:
• The idea that Angel Dust's character and his music video, Poison, glorifies abuse when its artistic intention clearly is to denounce it.
• The vitriol against problematic characters like Valentino, which has lead to the harrassment of cosplayers and fans of said characters.
• Ship wars mixed with hate speech, from SJWs claiming Alastor ships are ace erasure from Vaggie haters attacking Chaggie because it's canon.
I could go into detail on each of these incidents, but I won't go into it today. I'll just say for now I'm *really* disappointed by this fandom. I was really excited about HH because I thought it would bring much needed attention to certain topics, such as the still ongoing demonization of minorities to the crippling self loathing that comes from abusive relationships.
It feels like the people to whom the show's message is made for are the ones who are working the hardest to tear it down, which is not only a disservice to themselves but everyone involved as well. I expected the harshest criticism involving the show would come from the typical rabid christian ultra conservatives, but apparently they don't need to do their job anymore because they already got us to do it, apparently.
Hazbin Hotel became a creative spark for me when I was lost and empty of motivation. I began writing loads of fan fiction from just before season 1 came out, but during the latest weeks I've just gotten tired of it.
As a mutli-shipper, I'm constantly in the middle of ship wars. I'm hearing constantly on this very site of Charlastor shippers who hate Vaggie because she's supposedly terrible and hate her role in the show canon. I'm hearing of Charlastor haters that claim it's ace erasure, even though no shipper I've heard of denies the fact that Alastor is canonically ace. And worst of all, I hate the fact that some people still claim that Charlie is a lesbian and shouldn't be shipped with men when she's canonically bi.
As a biromantic person who recently came out of the closet, it used to be very liberating to write fics where Charlie gets involved with both Vaggie and Alastor. I like both characters and I like the idea of Charlie being romantically involved with both characters. But apparently the one thing that is not still worthy of respect in this day and age is divergence of opinions.
I came to this realization the other day when episode 2 of The Amazing Digital Circus came out. It's a smaller fandom, even though the audience attention is *massive*. I was looking through the community posts and... guess what? Practically little to none inflamatory speech or ship wars.
People there ship Pomni with Jax, Jax with Ragatha, Ragatha with Pomni, even Pomni with *Caine* for some bizarre reason that I can't comprehend and even Gangle and Zooble.
People *get* the intended message, which I must admit it can be largely attributed to the fact that the writing is better (sorry Vivz) and the episodes are more sparce. But the few people who don't get it don't go around attacking anyone with a different opinion or the showrunners themselves.
I apoligize formaking an unfair comparison, since, as I previously mentioned, these two fandoms have very different sizes and their respective shows deal with very different issues, but I'm just expressing my perspective.
I'm still highly disappointed in Hazbin fans. I expected better than you, but if this post reaches the type of fans I'm talking about, I'm sure they're happy that I'm upset. So, congratulations, you won.
Anyways, I'm gonna stop writing Hazbin fics for a while, for how long, who knows and I'm going to start writing TADC fics instead. I already had an idea in mind, so it's little trouble for me.
Thank you to the fans who have been engaging in peaceful discourse and have sated my shipping thirst so far with wonderful art and writing pieces alike. You've pulled me through some hard times, but it's time for me to part.
Sorry as well for the melodramatic tone of this post, but I'm just really sad and general and I need something to obsess with in order to prevent my inner demons from taking over.
In any case, thank you for reading, and I hope to see you all again soon 👋

MY INTRO POST
Hello!
I am Mara. (Only close people online can call me by my irl name in private, though I have to admit I am curious to see what people think my name is.)
I love reading, writing, arts and crafts, cooking, baking, and travel. And history, too, especially anything involving crime or assassination. I don't mind things like true crime, autopsy, surgery, so you don't have to worry about me getting upset about it. My blog will be a jumble of things. Oh! And also, I can't forget the very things my ever changing themes are based on: fantasy, dreams, astronomy, and deadly plants and ones that can also have a medicinal purpose are things I love.
I hope to stay as bellatrix nightshade, but I warn you my url changes all the time.
I can also be found on:
This SGE plus prequel themed discord server: https://discord.gg/PE7pCq72Nx
Wattpad
Ao3 (though I'm not too active on here)
Spotify
and instagram, which is private and only followed by a few people.
As of now, my main fandoms are SGE-related, especially the prequels and classical literature stuff. I hope to expand my horizons, though. I also am part of the Lunar Chronicles fandom, and I have read the Belladonna series by Adalyn Grace. I have a looong tbr so I hope to finish that...eventually.
About me:
I am still in school and I am homeschooled. BUT I have a job (oh sorry, two) and i do have weekly co ops so I'll mostly be on here when I am not busy.
I really want to get into the culinary field, especially working as a pastry chef. And I want to also eventually become a general manager or some form of high manager of a restaurant! My ultimate dream is to save enough money to study to work in a university as some sort of literary professor. (Aight I'll stop since this is sounding wayy too much like a resume.) But lastly, I would love to study on how to invest so I can have shares and all that, responsibly.
I don't take it seriously as a real life thing that should dominate anyone's lives, but here are some of my "personality stuff:"
☀♓🌙♋⬆♋
INFJ-T
Melancholic-choleric
Type 5
I am spiritual as of now, and while I respect other religions don't really wish to be a part of an organized one. My beliefs are something I am set on and things I would rather research or seek out myself if I wish to.
Some things to keep in mind:
I don't care which pronouns you use for me as long as it isn't related to inanimate objects (outside of jokes, of course)
I don't mind most "politically incorrect" jokes or anything that otherwise may bother some people, but please be considerate when there are other people around. They may take it the wrong way, and understandably so. What I don't tolerate is religious blasphemy, suicide jokes, and jokes about SA and pedophilia
Be respectful of people's religious, political, fandom related, and so forth beliefs, even if they don't align with yours. if you really don't like someone, block. It's that easy. I don't accept most forms of cancelling on this blog.
No doxxing or plagiarism. Especially don't plagiarize my writing please, otherwise that earns you a block.
No NSFW and no pedophile behavior, please.
No discourse, especially political, activist, and religious debate on this blog. I am interested in these issues, but only in certain spaces and tumblr is not one of them.
No DMs from most people. If you really have to tell me something or it is out of consideration for another blogger, then please just ask me or let me know. ALSO, do NOT expect me to continue engaging with you in dms on an intimate level.
Asks are totally welcome, as long as they aren't NSFW, trolling, or hate. I also don't take writing requests.
Toxic behavior is not welcome, whether that comes from snowflakes, rad-SJWs, sexist and so forth.
Thank you for checking me out!
With love,
Mara.

If we have to deny that AGP causes transness for trans rights to flourish this implies that either paraphilic reasons for transition are Heccin Invalid or that most people are too stupid to see it shouldn’t matter whether someone is transitioning to get off. The first of these is repugnant, the second of these insulting to most people’s moral intelligence.
This is why I concluded a long time ago that people who spend lots and lots of time arguing that it is offensive to say AGP motivated transition are untrustworthy.
I'm sorry, but this line of reasoning is nonsense. "X as a theory has a poor scientific basis and is based on a harmful stereotype" is a perfectly legitimate thing to point out. It makes the point that X is untrue, while also illustrating why it is nonetheless attractive to many people. Pointing these things out is not tantamount to saying "even if this theory is correct, we shouldn't talk about it;" it is in fact the exact opposite!
It puts me in mind of the rationalist failure mode around race and IQ--every time a rationalist figure gets criticized for believing HBD nonsense, someone points out that that stuff has a very shoddy empirical basis, and that nailing your colors to the mast in defense of a theory that has a poor empirical track record is poor epistemology; and doing so in favor of a theory that mainly gets air time among bigots because those are the main body of people willing to give the theory support despite its poor track record is bad strategy, because it makes it very hard for outside observers to tell the difference between you and a bigot. And they get shouted at for being politically correct and bowing to the SJW orthodoxy, despite good epistemology and strategic awareness supposedly being important rationalist virtues.
Denying AGP is a real construct is a matter of intellectual integrity, not political convenience. We could debate, as a counterfactual, whether adopting the AGP model would harm trans rights in a world where that model is correct, but that's not the debate I'm engaged in, nor is it on I find particularly interesting. There is so much evidence we would have to ignore, and so much shoddy research methodology we would have to overlook, to make that counterfactual world even begin to appear plausible that it would amount to its own kind of epistemological malpractice, by pretending that AGP as a construct isn't as on as shaky a foundation as phrenology or astrology.
(Although given the popularity of anti-trans bigotry even well before the widespread discussion of any etiology of sexuality in society, the political force behind currently-resurgent transphobia in the UK, and the character of anti-trans bigotry in the rest of Europe and North America, if you are going to seriously argue a significant amount of the opposition to transness isn't predicated on the idea that all trans people--nevermind most queer people--are deviant sex predators, you are either an idiot or deeply dishonest.)

since you are reading the current doom patrol run and peacemaker seems to be the villain there, are they doing it in a "cishet white dude from the government against THE OUTCASTS 🤓☝️" way? because i feel like that'd be a kinda lame superficial understanding of both the DP as a group and peacemaker as a character. (not necessarily incorrect, but. superficial)
My little guy hasnt appeared in two whole issues now and actually hasnt gotten any of that YET but Im not very optimistic hes gonna keep escaping it for long if he actually gets another appearance. At least theyre leaning more into Peacemaker being a government stooge and I do kind of think some of how he acts implies hes not just doing this Just because he loves it and Hates People With Superpowers (though he does love it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is here because the US government is trying to fuck up the doom patrol though. So Far I genuinely think this writer could go either way for Peacemaker, but I think the Doom Patrol is just in a really weird kind of annoying place right now in this still.
Half the reason I dont think Peacemaker is being set up like that is because this miniseries is very very blatant about what its doing so I think if he were he wouldve already called someone a SJW or something by now. Wouldve already said something ableist to someone in Jane's system like every other fucking character whos meant to be anti-doom patrol because theyre the FREAKS.
I do think this writer has a superficial understanding of the doom patrol because everyone hates them for having SUPERPOWERS because theyre WEIRD which like yeah I guess but it feels kind of goofy here because theyre doing all this allegory where the doom patrol is very clearly meant to stand in for LGBT people and mentally ill people in a way while using the wrong terms for systems and keeping the trans woman dead and for now having a man with At Least PTSD being the main villain.
But yeah sorry for the essay, basically short answer no but I think its because he hasnt gotten alot of screentime yet.

Why and how’d you come to tumblr in the first place? I’m a Reddit refugee! So far I like it, it’s an interesting site.
I've been around the Tumblr block for a while, actually. All the way back in the zeitgeist of Gravity Falls S1, I lurked around a bunch of GF blogs without an actual Tumblr account, and I only made an account around the same time I started getting into Steven Universe and MLP:FiM once I realized how big the fandom spaces on here are. That said, the actual specific reason I pulled the trigger on making an account is pretty embarrassing. I was an edgy white teenage kid when the whole "Feminists OWNED by FACTS and LOGIC" deal was at its peak, so I joined Tumblr to... uh... "see those stupid SJWs for myself." Yeah, I hate my younger self, too. There's probably a lot of stuff you can dredge up here that I regret, and I disavow a lot of the stuff I did and said back then. I ended up getting burned out with it once the 2016 election came and went with all its... everything and I just stopped using Tumblr for a while.
I always meant to return at some point, since the fandom stuff here is super fun and this site has my favorite sense of humor on the internet. I'm older, more mature, and much wiser about how to curate my online experience, so I thought it was about time to give Tumblr a second try a few years ago, but in the meantime I had ended up switching to Reddit as my main online time-waster. I popped into Tumblr occasionally, but I couldn't break the Reddit habit and come back here with any semblance of consistency. Now that spez has finally managed to kill my desire to use his hellsite (derogatory), I can finally properly return back home to my real hellsite (affectionate) like I always wanted to.
I suppose I'm technically a Reddit refugee, but I don't really feel right calling myself that since it's not like I'm a Tumblr newbie, either. Even when I haven't regularly been on Tumblr itself, I've still done my best to keep my finger on the pulse of what's going on here. It's more of a homecoming than an immigration for me. And a super fun one, too! Having all these new people coming in at once to follow and follow back has made my personal experience feel so much more alive in the past month than it ever did back when I was mainly just lurking.
Sorry, you probably didn't expect such a long answer to such a simple question, but I really do love this site and I'm glad to be back, and to be coming back a better person on top of it.

also re grisha and why certain interpretations and handling of hansi annoy me so bad, i realized suddenly that i like grisha a lot. and yet he's allowed these huge secrets, he's allowed to have lived essentially two separate lives without anyone knowing the other. he's independent from dina, he's independent from carla. of course he loves them, but he's viewed as separate from them, his own person.
that's how society views men. but women are viewed as accessories to men, and as such their entire perception revolves around the men they've been assigned. they're not allowed to be people. it doesn't matter how many men they might be assigned to, they will always only ever exist within the context of a man.
and levi is certainly not becoming any less of a man any time soon, so what does that leave us in the context of levihan? a man, the man, the most popular character of the entire series, two spinoff OVAs and a manga and an entire main arc explaining his past and who he is, and hansi, whose name no one has ever bothered to even write correctly, who anyone levi included only ever remembers as "that freak", whose past we don't even know because their author was too much of a coward to depict them as explicitly queer.
how convenient for everyone. it's up to interpretation, right? i don't have to concede to the crazy fascist sjws, right? so hansi can just be a woman, there's nothing that says otherwise after all, or maybe sometimes for inclusivity i can namedrop that she's actually nonbinary, so i'm not being cisheteronormative. and it doesn't matter that i wouldn't care about her if i couldn't imagine her kissing levi, i mean, the author didn't either, right? because look at all of my evidence that it's actually canon, by the way.
sorry, kind of outing myself as a hater(? though i'd like to think all of this is just objective, i won't deny that it will never get any defense from me). idc if anyone ships them and i'm sure (...) someone's probably done it while still being within the realm of respectful to hans, but hopefully this explains how i am so tired.

thoughts on brooke schofield situation BEFORE THE YOU KNOW WHAT TODAY
stream of consciousness. slightly problematic, i assume
i sympathize with being influenced by rightwing grandparents, because that was literally me when i was a self-hating queer and trans person that thought trump getting elected was perfectly okay in 2016, in a house playing fox news 24/7 because you live with closeminded old people
not for me to forgive brooke, not for me to say it's understandable or give her a pass, since she was posting racially ignorant things, like saying race had no part in the shooting of trayvon... like, even when i was under the influence of my conservative grandpa and the anti-SJW propaganda of the time, i knew that racial profiling and prejudice was a thing and played a role
however, i also know from my literal firsthand experience of being a self-hating trans person falling into the rightwing grift of ridiculing other trans people that people can genuinely change. i had to make that discovery on my own, though. i had to break out of the influences of my household and the internet and genuinely form my own thoughts through educating myself. after that, i no longer agreed with my grandpa, and would challenge him and admonish his views. you can actually change your views, even in the house you grew up in that primarily upholds opposing views
i will never understand this mindset of 'you said this once 10 years ago that contradict things you believe in now. unforgivable'—and it's like, yeah? are we really saying people's shitty political views by proxy of their upbringing means that a person can never change? i know brooke's situation is different due to being a cis, white, straight woman. but i can also attest to being within a marginalized subset of people, specifically gender and sexuality, and i still criticized other people exactly like me. the brainwashing can sometimes hit THAT deep
now with all that being said
disregard EVERYTHING
because brooke schofield thinks adin ross and trump are super cool ya. not only that, but both her and tana have said some braindead political opinions on their podcast. and i'm not talking 1-2 years ago. it's 1-2 weeks ago.
so, obviously, she really hasn't changed. or, at least, she doesn't care to take the time to truly understand why these issues are important
(edit to add, she addressed liking adin ross's trump post, though it's still annoying for her to not understand that positive engagement with these things boosts their algorithm pushes. i'd like to avoid promoting the extremely heavy-handed wave of indoctrination happening to boys aged 13-18 that we've seen in recent years, thanks! liking a post ironically is still liking the post!)
but, i guess the point of all this is that people can and do change
though the jury is still out on brooke
lul
i really don't understand this 'never forgive anyone for anything they've done' mindset. it's perfectly valid to feel that they haven't changed, or that they aren't truly sorry, or they didn't educate themselves on how their upbringing hurt other people. but that doesn't seem to be the main rhetoric going around. i more often see people saying 'well, i knew better than to be like this at 16, so fuck this person'
like, hello? i am sorry, your saintliness? good for you for never needing to breakthrough a closeminded upbringing and need to educate yourself on social issues against the grain of your surroundings? i'm glad you were never a closeted, self-hating queer person that felt they needed to conform themselves to quell hateful judgment? you took a shot at brooke and hit a wide section of progressive people with conservative upbringings.
brooke may be another issue entirely, but putting an umbrella over people with a problematic past, like 'you can never be forgiven, i knew better at this age' is???? what do you want me, and others like me, to do? go back to being a self-hating, closeted, trans-critical trans person? that's all i'm good for due to having that background?
should go without saying, but i think the conduct of the person from the time of their upbringing should absolutely hold repercussions. if you were out there blasting slurs and spewing hateful vitriol, i'm not going to stand on the podium and champion the 'people can change' rhetoric in that context. during my worst years, even i was never actively bigoted or racist. harmful with my ignorance on racism by not realizing how big of a problem it actually is? yep. harmful with my own self-critical superiority complex on trans issues? yep. even passive or ignorant harm is still harm, but it is...less intentionally nefarious.
so, i think overall the nuance of someone's past does hold weight, and actions should absolutely have consequence. and there are some things that just... can't be forgiven. that's to an individual level, too.
i love talking about gender exploration now, and i love to help people in their own journeys if i'm asked, and i love to advocate for people's right to explore themselves in their identities. but do i think that gives me an automatic forgiveness pass from people in my past i likely made feel self conscious about their identity because of my views back then? nope. i literally deserve to be hated for that.
worse, i probably made people think they could relate to me or trust me with their similar life circumstances just on the basis of being queer and trans, only to end up being a proper Blair White. like a wolf in sheep's clothing.
again, i have NO PLACE to speak on racial issues, as i have not experienced the intersectionality of bigotry that is systemic racism. i will briefly say my understanding of differences between being ignorant to racism, to being not racist, and to being anti-racist, and knowing that active racism and being ignorant to racism often contribute to the same overall attitude of unconscious or systemic racism in society. hell, even being 'not racist' contributes to it.
(edit to add, after seeing all of brooke's tweets, it's EXTREMELY obvious that she was "actively racist" and not "ignorant to racism")
but anyway, yeah. it is not my place. i will defer to those it personally affects. the only thing i can truly speak on is my personal experience in being trans—a former trans-critical trans person. in no way am i saying that racism and transphobia have 1:1 comparable social impacts, either.
so...
problematic pasts, politically influenced upbringings, the varying degrees of offensive behaviors, individual growth, interpersonal forgiveness vs generalized forgiveness
it's all extremely nuanced
but brooke...
yeah
this is like 98% not applicable to her (and even more not applicable after seeing the sheer amount of racism she engaged in)
i guess i just wanted to talk about the holier-than-thou rhetoric around her

My "main fandom" may be G*nshin Imp*ct but my heart truly lies in Hetalia
Ok fine what I meant by "main fandom" is that I mainly reblog GI stuff here because I have a separate blog dedicated to hetalia lol
Yes I am a GI player, but I've only reblogged a few GI posts because the fandom doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as Hetalia does??
I know, it's weird. Tbh, I only went on Twitter for some content of my favourite GI ship (which also happens to be my ONLY ship, wait that sounds familiar... IDV fandom flashbacks) and nothing else. Even though that ship is constantly bashed on by antis (even though it's actually not problematic at all smh), that tag was the only part of twitter I felt entirely comfortable in
It's really sad tbh. Now I understand why Twitter has such bad rep. Not necessarily Twitter's fault, but I think it also has a bit to do with its design.
The fandom might be better on Tumblr because it's less big, but ofc I can't really confirm because I haven't spent as much time on Tumblr when it comes to the GI fandom since... well, there's also a lack of the "niche" content I enjoy.
Fine, I do have very specific preferences in hetalia too, but they're far more diverse than what I like in GI. Kind weird considering how GI has characters and relationships far more well-written than the ones in Hetalia, but I suppose it leaves very little room for imagination as a result. (I really LOVE fantasy, but I love creating my own fantasy worlds. It feels much easier to do that for Hetalia since GI itself already takes place in a fantasy world far more complete than anything I can ever come up with.)
Honestly, I'm really surprised that I'm still in the Hetalia fandom. It's been almost 5 years, which is a record for me. I thought Undertale (yeah, yeah I know) would be my longest fandom journey but no.
Maybe the biggest reason was that I wasn't in the fandom at its peak. Maybe I would have eventually gotten sick of the toxicity and bad vibes and then leave thinking that it had been very cringe of me to be part of it in the first place (I'm sorry, Undertale, but that's you. It's not your fault really, but I don't really have the best memories from your fandom)
Don't get me wrong, I'm still seeing posts about toxic hetalia fans, but trust me, it's far worse in GI. This is very tame stuff that I can ignore quickly. (No, I'm not denying that being toxic is bad, but I just want more positivity in my life, not be some sjw. That's why I'm on the internet :/ )
I may reblog GI content here, but I'm actually writing hetalia fics and drawing hetalia art (well I am also working on ONE GI fic but that's it.)
So in conclusion, my heart truly lies in hetalia :)

TIL I’M AN ANTISEMITE?
Tumblr media
Imagine wildly accusing an entire group of people of being “unrepentant antisemites” and “laughing about bullying Jewish people in group chats.” And imagine your entire basis for your unsubstantiated accusations about our group chat is that one member we are loosely associated with didn’t reply to a random anon from your ‘Jewish friend’ accusing this callout post of being antisemitic, despite it referring specifically to YOUR words and actions and despite none of you people ever pointing out the ‘obvious offensiveness’ of the tweet you were mocking until after you were called out for your petty and completely unprovoked behaviour. By the way, I’ve been warned by multiple others that dealing with you lot requires receipts. I submit it to the good faith and honesty of anyone reading this post to judge for themselves whether failing to answer this anon in this context is an act of antisemitism that warrants these accusations.
Seeing as you’ve basically confirmed what we’ve all suspected all along — that you and your friends read our WOTR group chat for the purpose of using our words and discussions against us (like co-opting our discussion of 15th century catholic antisemitism to use in the anon above) — I’m surprised you didn’t pick up at some point that one of the users you just blanket accused of being an “unrepentant antisemite” is an openly ASHKENAZI JEWISH PERSON, as well as users you know for a fact to be black and brown POC, some of whom have openly criticised your petty and tone deaf behaviour in the past.
As a POC from a literal ‘third world’ country who has dealt first hand with your brand of ‘white performative wokeness’ before, I will not allow anyone — let alone some white American girl — try to guilt trip me into policing my content and interactions on this site, and I sure as fuck won’t let anyone try to make me personally accountable for the behaviour of other users here. If another user not answering an anon from your ‘Jewish friend’ who NO ONE even knew existed makes them and everyone they ever associated with an antisemitic bully, what the fuck does your behaviour now make YOU? Do you have any sense of self-awareness or irony? Or are you just going to keep trying to gaslight everyone when called out for your questionable actions? Don’t blame me for using your own logic against you; these are the standards of ‘discourse’ you have set for this never-ending Tumblr drama you insist on perpetuating. This is the hill you are choosing do die on. Perhaps you’ll finally learn from this whole experience, but somehow I doubt you will.
Feel free to ‘vague’ about me on your blog. Seeing as you’ve already blocked me (despite the fact that I have NEVER interacted with you in all my years here) when I tried to tag you so you can at least respond directly, I thought I’d give you the courtesy of showing your url.

Sorry I'm being very spammy to miraculous salt blogs cause I saw this one ML sugar post that made me start think: do you think miraculous is overall a well written show or a badly written show?
oh it's definitely the latter (in my opinion). like, I feel like ML is trying too hard to be too many things and failing at it, and then all its other problems come from there.
is it an episodic kids/pre-teen show with no overarching plot but recurring themes of friendship?
yes but it's also got an overarching plot and covers themes of abuse and death and sickness which is more suited to older kids/young-mid teens.
AND it's also high art with deep themes aimed at older teens but if you think about those themes you're *wrong* actually because it's just a kid's show! it's not that deep! stupid SJW!! >:(
it's like the creators couldn't just pick *one thing* and work with it. they couldn't pick *one* age bracket to aim it at, they couldn't pick whether they wanted a long-running episodic serial or if they wanted a story with a bigger plot. they can't just pick one, and that's given us our issues with the status quo, our issues with a dull and repetitive plot, the juvenile, slapstick humour, tackling Adrien's abuse with all the delicacy and precision of a jack-hammer, professing deep themes of Importance For Adults/Older Teens and in the next breath treating the audience like toddlers.
And I'm not saying you can't create a kids show that handles hard themes but still resonates with a wide audience, I think Avatar has shown us that that is well and truly possible, but the success of Avatar is largely because it picked an audience and a theme and a story-telling method, and. Stuck. With. It.
Of course there's also a number of other things that go into a well-written story, and with a cast as large as ML, characters, interesting characterisation, relationships and character arcs are VITAL.
ML has a huge cast of recurring characters. In Season 1 alone we get: Marinette, Tikki, Adrien, Plagg, Hawkmoth/Gabriel, the whole Miracuclass (like 8? kids), Ms Bustier, Sabrina's Dad, Nathalie, Sabine, Tom, Mayor Bourgeois, Jagged, Master Fu, Manon, and Nadja Chamack.
That's not even including one-off characters who never show up again OR the likes of Mr Ramier/Pigeon who come back later on more and more often.
That is a huge cast. And when you have a cast that big you need a way to make your main cast stand out other than giving them tonnes of screen time *cough* adrien *cough*. ML utterly fails at this. S1 Adrien feels like a puppet and later on like a wet cardboard cut out. Felix has more arc and personality and bite than one of our main characters for cripe's sake.
S1 Marinette was, by far, probably the most explored of all her iterations. She was doing stuff, going places, having personality beyond just awooga adrien!!
But that is where they peaked. In S1. Like 6 or 8 years ago. A messy plot and world can be...overlooked if the characters are compelling enough. But ML hasn't got either. It doesn't give us Plot or Characters, or nice animation or a fun world or much of anything really.
Its only real value is to put something brightly coloured on TV to distract a small child. And like? It is so, so clear that the crew work hard on the show, but it's really not paid off. Like, at all. Other than, of course, the profits from the cheap merch being bought to please and pacify little kids, but I think we all know no one in anything less than an executive position will see any of that money.
So TL;DR: the story has no clear goal, no clear audience, the characters are forgettable and dull, the themes have no teeth. Overall, a badly written show. The time, energy and money could've easily gone to something better.

y'know in terms of reasons why there are fewer black characters and shows, instead of sjws being blah blah white ppl i wish they could consider for once that they are also the problem, for instance you''re an artist who happens to be black and you're drawing out a series idea which takes place in a black majority country and you're having second thoughts about it for fear of all the drama, petty racist accusations and suicide baiting and whitewash accusations that will go on in the fandom.
Tumblr media
I apologize for not having answered this earlier anon, I'm afraid I've been away from this blog for a couple months. But I hear you, and I'm sorry - it is not right that fandom culture has become so toxically woke that you don't dare publish your work. And I do just want to highlight this, because:
y'know in terms of reasons why there are fewer black characters and shows, instead of sjws being blah blah white ppl i wish they could consider for once that they are also the problem
You're right. I know too many people in the TCW/TBB fandom who left because they didn't want to deal with the constant accusations of whitewashing and racism, and telling white people who they should and shouldn't listen to and do and not do, and all the drama that came along with it. Not because they themselves were "racist yt people" but because they weren't white and were tired of not being able to get away from topics that were exhausting to them on a personal level. They just wanted a place to escape, and it was demanded of them that they turn activists over a cartoon instead and only ever create content that “supported/represented x people”. They were made to feel like their value was not as artists or authors, or simply people, but as tokens that other people could point to and use, and if they didn’t have the “correct” opinion or do the “correct” things, they were no longer valued or welcomed.
I'm sorry that you don't dare share your project with the world. I'm not going to tell you to go for it, I would like to, but you're right - your mental health is the top priority.
I will say, however, that your opinion matters. Opinions like yours need to be heard, there are a lot of truly well-intentioned but blinded people, and an unfortunate amount of race-grifters, who are the main voices being heard right now, and they're not the best ones to listen to. We need opinions like yours. We need people like you!!! So I hope that, someday, you'll be able to find a group of good friends who will support you in this project and stand by you publicly so that you can publish it, while feeling sure in the knowledge that you've got people on your side who can help you take whatever backlash might come your way. Having a support group to start out with makes a huge difference.
I'm rather tired right now, and I don't feel like I've said everything I would like to say, but I'm going to come back tomorrow and add to this if I can think of anything else. Please feel free to message me anytime to vent or talk about your project, by the way, I'm not going to be leaving again anytime soon now that I've "recharged". :)

I can answer the reason over why self inserts are popular in japan. It’s kind of hard to explain and translate but i’ll try. So basically the preferred mode of escapism in media is mostly just called “living” i guess? It’s why fans of sol can coexist comfortably with isekai and even mecha fans, since they see it as “immersing” themselves in the narrative.
There is also an important distinction to be made: most don’t really consider self inserts to be “omg this is literally me!” It’s more like playing with dolls if i can explain it that way? They don’t disdain “non self-inserts” but they make a clear distinction between say, character a having a set romantic partner and ending, and character b having many romantic options and more endings available. Someone commented (about otoge game heroines in particular) that they distinguish between “normal” players and “dream shipper” players (people who do see themselves as the main character in the sense of wanting their personal tastes catered to, vs “normal” players wanting to see an established character having the freedom of options). To talk about otoges in particular: someone will say that they want the heroine to be romanced by x character because that’s what they are attracted to in a real life partner, and someone else will say they want character z because z will be better for the heroine as a character.
I forgot a lot of these terms in japanese. I’m sorry…
But i’ve been following your blog closely. i can say it’s not an exaggeration to say that byleth is really very popular in japan: for example, only ike, marth, and lyn have large scale non poseable figurines sold that aren’t pure fanservice merchandise like camilla and tharja and cordelia. The corrins and lucina and edelgard have figma (and chrom has amiibo and nendoroid) but getting a large scale made is seen as an honor and a sign that a particular character “made it.” So fans were extremely happy that a byleth large scale was announced for july.
Japanese fans love the three houses lords and the way i can best try to describe it is that byleth is their preferred way to show the lords their favor towards them (like making your favorite dolls kiss and play house), and giving their lords the power to have the “happiest” ending in their routes. They enjoy the story beats for byleth and the interactions they have with the lords. They also love that it combines an academy (school media is well received in japan and older fans appreciated that a military and religious academy setting made it feel more mature and not like a typical high school with juvenile concerns) with magic and warfare. They liked the change of starting out with a commoner protagonist (like ike) rubbing elbows with nobility but also becoming close with them when most fire emblem main characters are royalty (excepting robin, ike, and byleth).
Three houses and byleth became so popular, regardless of western fanbases, that intsys, which is usually very lazy when it comes to merchandise, is now also offering three houses tea, plush toys and pop up parade figures.
Now i can definitely vouch for the statement that japanese fans are very unhappy with the storytelling decisions made for musou. Many say that it feels like the story and characters they got attached to in houses were spat on. Others are calling it poorly written doujinshi or ntr. Others are saying the head writer hates byleth and many are calling the interviews made in those magazines deliberately misleading, and saying the developers played coy and lied to the fans and bribed them with merchandise to convince them to buy musou. Others are saying what was the point of playing houses if musou came along to invalidate it.
Finally, i can also say that the complaints about western fans are true. I do acknowledge that there are a lot of stupid anti sjw types and incels in the mix. Typical channer message board posters who we can at least say its fine to ignore because they’re racist and sexist anyway. However, there is a significant part that i agree with in that they are worried that the developers and scenario writers (? I think that’s the term) are swayed by foreign money and now consider their complaints more important than simply making a game for its own sake. Many are worried about the infamous toxicity in western fandoms and are basically worried that that will now come into their own online spaces (which practice strict segregation and aggressive tagging to avoid ship wars and the like), which is now more difficult to shield from with how porous social media has become. They also resent the behavior of western fans towards asian fandoms, citing several instances of western fans being racist and homophobic (they do not like BL media being criticized for example) while also demanding asian media like anime and manga and games to cater more to them. Or that they call asian media trashy and stupid and bad (they don’t like western deprecating mean and aggressive humor for example; many have made guides on things like “if a westerner leaves a post on your fanart saying they hate it, sometimes they mean it as a strange compliment”)
So theres my explanation. I’m sorry it was so long. But hopefully it shed some light onto the situation.
This is very much appreciated, anon, thank you!
The truth is that while I used to live in Japan and have a degree in Asian studies, I've never engaged too much with Japanese fandom spaces. Partially because I've really had little reason to until recently. So some things are foreign to me but I'm always happy to learn.
And honestly, all of this makes sense based on what I already know Japanese fans to be like. And honestly, part of me gets it. Perhaps it's because I spent a number of years in high school with my friends over there enjoying Japanese media (we used to go doujinshi and figure/poster shopping in Nipponbashi, we called it "nerd shopping"), but I've always felt that Byleth was, as you say, a "character b" type. I only bothered me personally because I felt it came at the sacrifice of other characters in terms of the quality of the story. So I do criticize Byleth, but I also... kinda like them? Especially more so now with Hopes.
Others are saying the head writer hates byleth and many are calling the interviews made in those magazines deliberately misleading, and saying the developers played coy and lied to the fans and bribed them with merchandise to convince them to buy musou.
This I did see a mile away, though. AoC was the precedent for that. But I don't think the writers hate Byleth personally. But I can see why fans think that.
However, there is a significant part that i agree with in that they are worried that the developers and scenario writers (? I think that’s the term) are swayed by foreign money and now consider their complaints more important than simply making a game for its own sake.
To be honest, I do understand their fears. Western fanbases are currently very toxic. You can't say anything wrong, you can't think a certain way. Japanese fanbases, from my limited experience, are much more pleasant overall. And Western fans do have a sense of... entitlement. An expectation to be pandered to.
Now, I do feel that these companies should have some Western fans in mind. To a degree. They are creating products for a multi-national company. To ignore a large part of your consumers is silly. That's not to say to bend to their every whim, mind you. But you can't just ignore them either. Some of these franchises are only as successful as they are BECAUSE of the Western fanbase. Zelda comes to mind, I believe. It's much more popular overseas than in Japan.
It's honestly inevitable for these companies to consider foreign countries. Look at Hollywood, bending over backwards (until recently) to get their dumb movies to play in China. That's serious money, and these companies NEED money. You can't get by on integrity of your story alone sometimes.
But that said, I'm not entirely sure how much they were actually paying attention to Western complaints this time. I've seen some the exact same arguments in Japanese forums that we have in English about Houses - Claude is a good guy, Edelgard is right/wrong, etc etc. Sometimes it's actually freaky how similar the "fights" really are. I can understand their concerns but I think this time, they are probably just as much to blame in this case.
(But Westerners calling Japanese media terrible are just awful people.)
But i’ve been following your blog closely.
I didn't even know I had people who followed me closely. :) I'm going to take this as a compliment and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope my takes are entertaining and that I don't come off as a dumb dumb.

Hi Sam!
The more years that passes, the more I keep believing this idea that Hollywood is intentionally making bad decisions regarding movies with main non-cis/POC/LGBT
Like why is it that in the past (like 1980s-2000s) there are good movies with diverse main characters that are praised but nowadays, people criticize such movies as being token, SJW etc. ???
Like even if we blame the scriptwriters, wouldn't there be a bunch of people who comment on the script if it's good or not???
I'm so frustrated at seeing comic and non comic fans criticize too harshly when it comes to MCU movies :/
Them:
Valkyrie being the queen of new Asgard??? There is surely an agenda here!!!
Me: uhh... Well, Thor wasn't the kind of prince that sat on a throne and solved his people's issue. Like the one time I can remember he was acting as the ruler was during Thor: Ragnarok when he saved Asgardians and tried to find a new home. Before that, it was Odin and Loki disguised as Odin, and even Frigga (from the very little i can remember.... I think?), Post Ragnarok??? He descended into depression (understandable with the things that happened to him which the Endgame...... Made fun of that in the most rude way :/) and from the looks of it, Valkyrie was fixing the problems that came with settling down on a new planet.
Them:
Female Thor? You see this??? They are replacing the male heroes to make a soulless copy of them but female!!
Me:
Okay, nobody likes to copy a character with a few changes such as changing their gender or sexuality BUT nobody is going to ignore Thor! It just gives us an insight into a girl who has Thor's powers. What's wrong with that? He already has three movies! Cinema is not the same as comics where the actors stay the same age, where you can produce many Thor works along side other alternative Thors as if money grows on a tree or the movie can be made as easily as a comic issue in two months or something! ://
Spiderman trilogy (MCU) had the most horrible script. From the erasure of Aunt May's character as nothing other than Irresponsible Guardian who is constantly hit on by men :/
The erasure of Captain America: winter soldier by showing Tony giving a kid a satellite that can search your information and kill you if the owner choses to do so :/
Erasing Peter's struggles as a working class who tries to balance his life, relationship, secrets and money issues :/
Spiderman's plot in NWH was messy as hell (it just fixed some of the issues that we had with him in previous movies such as him getting help most of the time and doesn't struggle with money). From Aunt May's illogical actions to the "fixing villains" solution that unsettled me (idk if it just me but it was unsettling to see them getting fixed without their consent. I get it, some of them suffered from mental illness and such people in extreme conditions don't want to get treated, it's the defence mechanism talking but some others such as Electro, Sandman and Lizard don't have the same issue as Doc Oc or Green Goblin sooooo it gave me some abuse vibes). Yet, this movie made billions because at the end of the day somethings can make or break a movie such as:
Nostalgia, Advertisement, social media (especially YouTube critics) where people get easily influenced and thus decide to whether see a movie or not.
Which is pretty funny and at the same time stupid to me ://
I hate YouTube critics the most because thousands of people see their videos and it does impact the movie's box office ://
Some of them are like "ehh... It was bad, I regret spending my money on it, don't see it because of this and that"
Then proceeds to see a movie more than two times for the "I want to analyse the movie in the best way". The same mentality goes to audiences :/
They are like: let us not see Eternals (movie) because some of the critics said it was the worst, my money needs to be spend wisely (proceeds to see Endgame, CA:CW, Spiderman:NWH several times without a care about the money)
Sorry it turned into a very looooong rant but I couldn't help myself. Such mindset and issues are really hurting the diversity representations and in return, it will hurt their reviews and box office.
What do you think about these issues??
Hello friend!
Please let me preface by saying I’m not black; I’m a white-passing Hispanic, so I’ve had what’s felt like representation my whole life. My best friend put it perfectly: Pepa in Encanto was the first white Hispanic I’ve seen in a movie, and it was exhilarating to see that kind of representation. With that, though, please take my response with a grain of salt; I’m not an expert on race in media, nor is it even my minor; I’m simply a person trying to do their best. I hope not to offend anyone, and if I do, please let me know; it’s never my intention.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know what counts as a “good” movie anymore; in my book, “good” means “it was entertaining and held my attention.” Can all movies use more representation? Sure! And some do great (I’m thinking the recently-released Single All the Way on Netflix). I don’t know that the Hollywood execs are consciously making bad decisions so much as they aren’t consciously making good ones. They’re upper middle class, white, etc. They’ve always had representation, and they always will. It’s part of that privilege that they don’t know they have, because it’s never something they think about. That’s why Black Panther was revolutionary. I’m hesitant to automatically think the worst of people, and I’d rather think they’re unintentionally being idiots than consciously being dicks.
I’m afraid I’m not sure what you mean about movies from the 80s to the 2000s being criticized today; I haven’t seen that. Yes, all movies have their critics, and if all you’re hearing is hate from those critics, then you’re going to believe that’s all that’s being said about those movies. If you can provide evidence, I’d be more than happy to look into it! As it is, though, I’m afraid I’m not very well-versed in that particular issue.
I haven’t heard much hate about Valkyrie being Queen of Asgard, or a female Thor, and the little I did hear seemed to be squashed relatively quickly by the ever-growing crowd of feminists (and lesbians, and bisexuals, and… well, you get it) who are excited to see these women in positions of power. Again, if all you ever hear are the critics’ hate, that’s all you’re going to believe is being said.
Respectfully, I’m not going to get into the Spider-Man debate. I understand there are people who hated the movies and who probably hate Tom Holland for “stealing” Peter Parker; there are also people for whom Tom’s Spider-Man is their favorite. This is a minefield that I’m not comfortable stepping into. Same goes with CA:CW as far as you’re talking about with Spider-Man’s intro.
Here’s where I’m at with YouTube critics (and all critics in general): if you don’t want to listen to them, you don’t have to. Venom got an awful rating, yet everyone I know who saw it said they loved it. Critics are looking for things that may not be there. They can tell you all they want not to go watch this movie because x, y, and z, but you’re the one with your own money and your own control over it. You don’t have to listen to them. Go see the movie if you want; if you like it, say it! Prove the critics wrong. Critics aren’t the end-all, be-all for movies. They’re people, just like you and me, and people can be wrong.
Here’s an example: I was talking to my best friend about Eternals. She said “oh, yeah, I saw it. I didn’t like it at all.” She did mention something about a sex scene (I haven’t seen the movie yet) and that, more than anything, made me hesitant to see it; because regardless of how she feels about it, she knows I’m probably going to see it anyways. (I may not now, because sex isn’t always a good thing for me and she knows that, which is why she said it.) Notice how she didn’t try to dissuade me; she simply said she didn’t like it, then “hey, if you do see it, be careful; there’s a sex scene in the beginning, kind of a long one, and I know how you are about that.” I said “okay, thanks, I might try it on a day when sex is better for me. Thanks for the warning!” And that was it. You can have the same conversations with critics, even if they are one-sided. As I said before, critics can’t physically hold you and your money captive. If you want to see it, screw the critics and go see it. Either it’s a waste of seven bucks, or you love it. But you’ll never know until you go see it.
I definitely believe race, gender and sexuality—or the lack thereof—in media is an issue. But I also know there’s nothing that I can really do. I can tell everyone I know to go see Black Panther, and to buy it when it comes out on DVD. I can tell them not to do the same for another movie. I can yell it from the rooftops all I want, but at the end of the day, the only person I’m talking to is myself. I’ve found that people typically ignore what others are saying about movies or video games or whatever until they try it for themselves. They may agree with the critic that it was awful, but for entirely different reasons!
We, as people, each have our own unique schema; our little blend of life that’s unique to us and only us. No one else is going to feel exactly the way you do about certain things because they don’t have your schema. Their schema might mean they hate the idea of a new Spider-Man; my schema might mean I love the idea, but can’t fathom the idea of yet another iteration of dark and gloomy Batman. We’re all different, and the only person we can decide for is ourselves. Other people may be able to sway our opinions, but that’s only if we let them.
I hope this helped; I definitely jumped up on my soapbox regarding that last point! If there’s anything you don’t agree with, or would like to discuss further, let me know! ❤️

okay i am VERY VERY angry but i'll try my best to contain myself
so basically, his quest was quite heavily NPC-centric and didn't have massive fights, and was very text-heavy, so to speak. compared to other characters, it was much more toned down. However, the reason it is very well done and very fitting is purely because it shows the exact nature of Ayato, as the Yashiro Commissioner, a brother, the head of the clan, but MOST FUCKING IMPORTANTLY: ONE OF THE MAIN LEADERS WHO SERVES INAZUMA AND THE SHOGUN. It shows why he's respected, how smart he is, how much he cares for his nation, how much he loves his sister, and (again, importantly) why he has a hydro vision
HOWEVER,,,there are SHALLOW FUCKING C L O W N S on tw*tt*r who were complaining that Ayato didn't get nearly enough screen time WITHOUT REALISING THAT SATISFYING THE VIEWERS IS NOT THE FUCKING POINT OF A STORY QUEST. THEY'RE ALL COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT WITHOUT REALISING HOW CLEVERLY IT WAS DONE.
don't get me wrong: to each their own, and you're entitled to your own opinion. at the same time, i really hate them for not taking a step back to look at the bigger picture and understanding what it is about his story quest that's so amazingly well done.
this got long i'm sorry
you're telling me you expected genshintwt to have critical thinking skills? to analyze a character and their story quest beyond their litte simp, sexualizing/mysogynistic (depending on whether the character is a guy or a gal) flashlight?
agni... u set yourself for disappointment
twitter is dogshit, especially on the fandom side. the only good thing there is the fanarts, and even that can get ruined pretty quickly by the sjw
