Maybe not this section in particular, maybe just the whole vibe of the conversation in regard to the Wales’ work load and how they are seemingly very ‘family first’ made me wonder. What if William’s experience with his own parents, coupled with Catherine’s and his witnessing her family, has shaped his thoughts and feelings, and perhaps he’s gone a bit too far, and is struggling to find balance?

As a parent now, myself coming from a strict set of parents that I couldn’t speak with about my thoughts & feelings, I struggle with balance with my children. I don’t want to be their friends exactly, yet I do want to be a safe place for their thoughts & feelings, should they wish to share them. It’s a fine line with loads of grey at times. And so, I give William a lot of grace here because as parents, it’s sometimes very difficult to know what’s best for the pieces of our hearts wandering around this world.

As well, after reading others speculate on the King tending to be a bit of a jealous type, how much could that play into the work load for William & Catherine?

I'm not sure that it's Charles affecting the Waleses' workload. (I know Mayo just did a reading on it and her cards show there's some kind of dependencies there.)

For me, it really does feel like the Waleses trying to figure it out themselves. Their 'family first' strategy worked really well when the kids were small and William was #3, but they seem to be struggling with how to scale and adapt it as the kids have grown up and William gets closer to the throne. It does feel a bit like as the circumstances of William and Kate's lives/work/roles change and become a little more uncontrollable (e.g., cancer, foreign diplomacy, a lot of travel, changing EU dynamics, etc.), they're holding tighter to what they can control - which is their 'family first' mindset. I don't begrudge them that at all, especially if that's the anchor steadying the children's normalcy in all the changes that have happened the last 5 years. It just doesn't jive with some of the PR that KP puts out about William - for instance, the 'statesman' PR they do whenever he travels abroad. You're not a statesman if all you do is travel twice a year for two or three days at a time. You need to be in meetings, going places, talking to people, being in the room, representing the king at other countries' diplomatic/state events. William isn't there yet for me so I do wish KP would give this "statesman" PR a huge rest until he does more in that regard.

But in a much more larger sense, what William and Kate are dealing with feels more like a "how do you modernize monarchy for the 21st century" kind of strategic question, but I think this is where William and Kate could really lean on their peers - how have Victoria and Daniel made this work? Felipe and Letitia? Frederick and Mary? Willem-Alexander and Maxima? - and kind of crowd-source their way to a solution, with the added knowledge of Kate's early years work. And for all we know, maybe they have asked those questions.

Wasn't it just yesterday where I was typing out how Will & Kate & the kids were in the Caribbean?

Prince William, Kate and their children flew to the privately owned island on Thursday, days after Kensington Palace announced that the couple would not be at the star-studded ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall.  Instead, the family will be on their second holiday in as many months following a New Year ski break. They are all believed to have flown business class on the same British Airways flight – the protocol that heirs to the throne fly separately having been relaxed in recent years. A source says they flew to Saint Lucia before taking a private flight to Mustique, which was famously the favourite hideaway of the late Princess Margaret as well as a beloved escape for A-list celebrities. The late Queen and Prince Philip also visited in 1966, 1977, and 1985. It is thought that Kate's mother Carole Middleton, who also enjoys the privacy the island affords, is there too.

She recently celebrated her 70th birthday and it's thought she had been there for several days before her daughter arrived. Mustique is owned by a private company and does not allow journalists or photographers to stay.  The island has no hotels and visitors must own a villa there – or have an invitation to stay in one.  It has only one bar, Basil's, where the clientele has included Mick Jagger, Daniel Craig, Noel Gallagher and Kate Moss. MINI-OVERVIEW: ""Valley of the Dolls" is a '60s time capsule, but it’s not an outdated relic like, say, "Reefer Madness." The book and the movie, Lisa Bishop observes, were “very prescient” about sexual hypocrisy and how women are exploited in the entertainment industry, as well as how they can play a patriarchal system for their own gain.

PART II: And the film continues to have an indelible impact on popular culture. A stage adaptation mounted in the 1990s by Theatre-A-Go-Go out of West Hollywood, featuring a pre-"The Office" Kate Flannery as Neely, found further success Off-Broadway. Last year, a lavish, extras-packed two-DVD set was produced by Criterion, distributors of definitive film editions by the likes of Bergman, Kurosawa, and Truffaut. “You can’t be serious all the time,” says Susan Arosteguy, who produced the Criterion release. “It’s a hoot to watch. You have to take the entertainment value. It’s a cult camp classic, and we have plenty of films like that in the collection, too. It fits right in.”

PART III: "Valley of the Dolls" is also in the D.N.A. of director Lee Daniels’s work. In a January episode of his career-girl TV series "Star," Queen Latifah referenced one of Valley’s signature lines: “Sparkle, Neely, sparkle.”

PART IV/END: “It’s part of the fabric of the work that I do,” Daniels tells "Vanity Fair." “I saw it in my late teens. . . . It was just wild; sex, camp, drugs, Hollywood, scandal, girls. Wild.” Daniels, too, finds the film very much of the moment: “Everyone is waiting for the next Judy Garland, the next Whitney Houston, the next Amy Winehouse, the next star that we can build up so that we can tear them down.”

But the film endures, he says, because it has more to offer than camp and cheap laughs. “Here’s the thing,” Daniels explains. “It’s not bad. It’s become a cult movie. It is loved. That means it has tapped into something beyond just being a thing to laugh at and with. It speaks to men and women because it’s about what is screaming inside of us all; we are somebody.""

Marin has been the subject of four Hirschfelds, some of which you've already seen in these posts. Though PBS may have made the sad decision to censor Marin's big nude scene in the professional taping of Passion, Al Hirschfeld had no qualms about depicting her in the way she was meant to be. I do think, however, even in his final attempt, he was never able to accurately capture the sheer size of this woman's mouth.

Marin was honored with a Sardis caricature in 2000 during her Tony-nominated run in Kiss Me, Kate, and ten years later, she returned when her husband Jason received his. At the time, they were starring as the husband-wife duo in Next to Normal. While the expanse of her mouth is certainly featured, it's still not quite what I'd expect.

At last, someone was able to do justice to Marin's signature mouth size. Like Carol Channing, Marin's mouth is the stuff of Broadway legend. Sources even say that when she was younger, she'd put her whole fist in it as a party trick.
