its actually HILARIOUS to imagine gricko LOVING shows/films like benidorm, yonderland, man down, friday night dinner, monty python and the holy grail, life of brian etc etc because the content is so DUMB but it would be SO his humour. my source for that? he is so me and i love those shows
he'd totally get gideon into them too, because they're always encouraging each other with stupid shit and their dynamic is fun so, you know they'd love their show binging sessions together. but they'd only watch after hootsie goes to bed ofc 👍👍

Hello hi!! I'm just stopping by to tell you that your Rickbond fanart and fics are the source of my happiness, I read your stories over and over again because they genuinely give me a room to relax when I'm stressed from Uni, and they make me think about all the moments when Larry and Ben were absolute sweethearts to each other :> which brings me to the question: what's your favourite Rickbond moment (whether in character or just them being them)? ^^
Sometimes I wonder why I do all those things and then you guys hit me with messages like that 😩💜💜 It makes me so bloody happy…
Answering your question: Apart from obvious Rickbond moments like the hug during the interview (HH), or the kisses in Yonderland - I love this interview 💜
I think all interviews where there are just the two of them is a Rickbond goldmine
...also, not a Rickbond moment per se, but I love this tiny scene in Yonderland when they were little chefs:
B: I'm thinking breakfasts. L: Yeah? B: All day. L: WHAT?
…sometimes I think about all these cute little moments- no, wait, some of them are from my fics 😬 It’s all mixed up in my brain, that’s the downside of a very vivid imagination…

Sigh... I made a list:
(there are 63 points so you've been warned)
Tragic backstory
Pretended to be a librarian (Bernard, The Negatus Redemption)
Went to Prison (and had minion(s) try to break him out)
PJs
Big robots
EXACT SAME HELMET (see kickball scene in Megamind)
Both cannonically good at kickball
[had] swarm of flying minions (with one stereotipical female one)
Teams up with female protagonist who is way more confident than he is and who he sorta has a crush on. Debby and Roxanne are utterly the same person.
Pretends to be other person to trick Debby/Roxanne and HAS to throw in how strong/attractive he is
Both have kind of a Christmas special
Both got memes (Wakkus Bonkus- yes that counts- and no bitches?)
Both have an iconic makeup look (lots of eyeliner or lots of lipstick) (and I love them for it)
Will Ferrell and Simon Farnaby look wicked similar...
Also similar first half of name... coincedince?
Don't know how to way certain words/phrases ("Ollo" and "Prawns in my game" for example)
Unethically sourced leather
Design their own logos and make graphs/presentations
Just a lil dorky guy <3
Blue people
Doofenshmirtz level sucess (0)
Can't read
Weird tiny goatee
Desperately optemistic
Probably same Romania outlet
Feet scene?
Probably not from Earth/Yonderland
Transitions (castle to onion/screaming to crowd)
Kidnaps female protagonist
Uses sci-fi skype (argument w/metroman, argument w/Imperatrix)
Surprised when plan actually works
Minions keep accidentally defending other side
Sets up base in fancy cement building (or what one may call a town hall)
Likes hoarding silly gadgets and teddy bear
Doesn’t know what a window is
“If my parents could see me know"
Graffiti's things
Props that anyone can own (I actually have Megamind’s lamp and the birdhouse from the Thanktival special)- not to brag or anything...
Chalkboard diagrams
“I got a bad idea about this”
Michael Jackson reference
Bad good good bad confusion
Secret hideout with unguarded back door
Hug/kiss from main female character makes him rethink his ways
Actually cares about city/realm (doesn’t want to die)
Superhero from rich family finds skill in another line of business (Metroman/The Bird)
“Power vacuum” when Metroman/imperatrix is gone
Fem protagonist tied up and held hostage by guy with goofy hair (Titan/Cuddly Dick)
Plot important tower building
Entire movie is the Dirty Ernie episode
Police car noises literally just remind me of DI Bones (Again, Horrible Histories but still)
Prison dance scene
End with recall to past/time travel
Not used to positive feedback
Cleaning lady outfit and perm
White haired alter ego (Santa/Space dad)
Accidentally makes villains worse than himself
“Say goodbye to your lovelife” “The gad guy doesn’t get the girl”
Female protagonist figures out his entire plan immediately
EXACT same diction
Gets big fancy battle suit that ends up not working but looking cool I guess
Has to be good when good guy goes bad
Real villains way more hard core than him
“Under new management” (Titan/Cuddly Dick both basically say this)
Mkay, thanks for reading! G'night

185. Ghosts: The Button House Archives, by the Six Idiots
Tumblr media
Owned: Yes Page count: 223 My summary: The ghosts of Button House speak...well, sort of. Records of their lives and deaths are hidden in the walls of the manor house in which they died, and have now been gathered for us to read. From Robin's potted history of all he has seen to the war memos of Captain ██████, the ghosts' histories are revealed to us. My rating: 5/5 My commentary:
I absolutely love Ghosts. The concept, yes, but also specifically the BBC comedy series of the same name that premiered in 2019. It's from the six people who were the creative team of the original Horrible Histories TV show, who have stayed together as a comedy troupe and created original works since the end of the first Horrible Histories' run. This is their second TV show, after Yonderland on Sky. Ghosts is now coming to a close, with just one Christmas special left to air before the series finishes totally. Which, personally, is both making me sad and happy - I think it's good that the creators are wrapping it up on their own terms and moving on when they want to, but on the other hand I love Ghosts and want it to continue forever. Even if that could never happen. As part of the show ending, this book has been created to give a little more context on the ghosts in the form of written records collected by the living inhabitant of the house, Alison. And it's honestly delightful.
There's no real new information here. Everything that's said is either and expansion of something that was mentioned in the main show or otherwise just something that we the viewers have seen before. That's not to say that the letters, diaries, and other paraphernalia in this book aren't worth reading, just that there's no grand revelations or stunning twists to be found. What was interesting to me was the format chosen for the different characters - there's only one primary source about Mary, because a working woman in the 1600s like her wouldn't have left any primary sources behind. Instead, a lot of Mary's sections are transcriptions of things she's told Alison. Robin has no primary sources, because he's a caveman who lived and died before English writing. Contrast Julian, who as an elected MP left behind leaflets and newspaper articles and inquests into his misconduct. Or Thomas, who leaves lovelorn letters and corrections to other people's poetry. It's a well thought-out collection of documents - not to mention the fact that it's really well-written and funny, just like the show. Fanny writing a Karen-esque letter of complaint to the owners of the Titanic was a particular high point for me. And the running gag of Pat's camping trips ending horribly for everyone involved. All in all, it had the spirit of the series, was a great read, and very fun. I'm glad I picked it up!
Next, a ship passing through a dark night, and the boy who, centuries later, finds himself drawn to it…

for the asks, 🌻 🎀 💞
🌻 What makes you want to give up on writing? What makes you keep going?
Honestly? Lack of feedback and interaction, especially for prompt fics. I love writing fics for other people but if they can't even be arsed to reblog it with a little thank you, then I don't feel particularly inclined to do that anymore. It's for that very reason that I've closed prompts and also turned off anon asks recently. It started to feel like people were taking advantage of both and my free time is too valuable to spend it writing fics for people who, in the end, likely won't appreciate them.
So yeah, the way fandom treats fanfiction and writers is something I've been struggling with recently and why I'm taking a step back and focusing on my own ideas for now. It's not enough to make me want to give up writing but it's made me wonder whether or not it's even worth it to share my stories online. Then I get a beautifully though out comment from someone like you and I know it is. I can't even begin to express how much that continuous support and feedback means to me, how much I smile when I see a familiar name on top of a comment, or how often I go back and reread those comments. I can't thank you and everyone else who takes the time out of their day to let me know they've liked my stories enough, and I treasure the friends I've made through my writing and their comments more than words can say.
🎀 Give yourself a compliment about your own writing.
I already answered this in a previous ask, but I'll give it another go and say that I like the worldbuilding in my fics. It's most obvious in my Yonderland fics, I think, especially those featuring the Youngers. But even in completely unrelated fics I sometimes include little throwback lines to other stories in the hopes that people will pick up on them - and it's always fun when they do!
💞 What's the most important part of a story for you? The plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language.
I focus a lot on the technical stuff because I struggle with it and am very much aware that there's a lot of room for improvement between the first draft and the finished version, but I think that's normal when you don't write in your native language. Most important for me, I'd say, are the characters because they're also what I'm drawn to in the source material. I love building my fics around them and exploring them through the stories I write. The plot and worldbuilding are a result of that and rarely something I actively plan (the exception, of course, are multi-chaptered fics or my Button House Museum AU where I needed to come up with a way for the Captain and Havers to reunite and for Francis to murder a Thomas that isn't, strictly speaking, alive).
Ask Game can be found here.

Alison: Thomas, who are you pretending to dress up as for Halloween?
Thomas, in a deep gravelly voice: I...am the Bird!
Pat: And I'm the Bee!
Thomas, normal voice: I'm not with him! This isn't a double act!

Hound, to the new shinies: and now you will meet our glorious leader. He is known as… The Fox.
Hound: he is not an actual fox, you understand, that would be very strange, but he is cunning.
Hound: and sometimes he knocks over the bins.
