indigo disk has only made me dislike carmine more. she’s jst straight up mean and self centred i don’t like her. always shoving herself into situations acting like literally anyone even asked for her opinion. no one cares abt u girl go home

Could we have had a cohesive understandable indigo disk while still being kind to Kieran?

Yes!

Think of it this way:

We could have had a choice. Defend Kieran and show him people can be kind (standing up to his sister), or go with Carmine’s plan and encourage her ego (vilifying Kieran in the process). We already know the latter as were forced into that option. But let’s discuss the former.

We stand up to Carmine and tell her off for what she’s done to Kieran. We give Kieran the attention and respect he deserves, undermining Carmine’s sense of control over everything. Suddenly her status is threatened, and she starts to panic.

We still fight Kieran for Ogrepon, but he and you come to an agreement and Ogrepon has no hard feelings, he knows they’ll meet again. Carmine, seeing her brother in such high spirits and being RIGHT despite everything, fumes and fights you only to lose, and she swears she will make it out on top, that you are NOTHING compared to her.

Flashforward to Indigo Disk, and the whole school is feeling her wrath. she is on top of it all, the queen of the school, and Kieran just wants her to be happy again. Sure he’s seen her in her anger and abuse, but family dynamics are complex, and he misses the small moments of peace and joy between them.

You cut her down to size, show her ego that she’s not nearly as strong as a trainer as you, and take her crown away. She’s broken.

It’s similar to the original through the rest of the questline, except it’s Carmine who gets over herself. It’s Carmine who forces Terapagos out of hiding and catches it to prove she’s better than you. It’s Carmine who, at the end of the day, realizes that NO ONE is strongest on their own, and she needs to let go of her ego and help others with an open heart in order to go far in life. You and Carmine save the day, and a new beginning for Carmine lay on the horizon, figuring out what life is without social status, what she can be now that she can just…be herself.

I think that could have been beautiful. I think that could have been much more meaningful than what we were given. I think it would have made me actually like Carmine.

i have a question for those of you who have used floppy disks on computers designed for floppy disks: ARE THEY ALWAYS THIS SLOW???????

i cannot tell if the problem lies with the adapter i'm using, with my laptop, or the floppy disks themselves. all i know is my laptop is acting like it just climbed 200 feet of rope in 20 minutes

if anyone wants context i'm trying to process and archive a bunch of hydro data from the 90s that only exists on these floppy disks

We are now proud owners of 17.2 Exabytes of "cookies, site data and cache". 17 Billion, 179 Million, 869 Thousand and 184 GB. Sure, Firefox. Sure. I think it broke! I almost don't want to fix this, this is hilarious. Also, it is complaining about "running out of disk space" constantly now. (For reference: One (1) Exabyte of storage was first available in one location in 2011, apparently. The CERN is using a total of one (1) Exabyte of storage since somewhen in September 2023. Apparently there's a theory that every word every spoken by the whole of the human race adds up to ~5 Exabytes.)

So recently at work I learned that the standard spelling for computer discs/disks is 'disk' with a k in American English but 'disc' with a CD for British English. I have also discovered that in my head, old floppies are disks with a k and CDs and similar are discs with a c. I don't know why that's 'right' to me, but they are. It might be because CDs are round and C is round and floppies were square and K is more angular; or it might be because I moved to the UK right around when floppies were on their way out and CDs were on the rise. (Yes I'm old and I've been here a long time, shush.)

I don't know how I'll square it for the catalogue and the in-house style guide but so far I'm just using both, depending, because that's just what they are, I don't know.

(Also, it's been three months and I still can't believe?? That I have?? A museum job??? I'm getting paid to do this??? I want to do the work (at least sometimes) and not just out of obligation???? Wild times.)

[Going back to the "thinking about possibly drawing/coloring Beyblade combos for people", I'll add "editing images of official parts/beys (specifically the top view) to make new combinations" to the mix. Specifically GT/SuperKing(Sparking)/DB/BU layers since those systems have the layers set up as three separate parts.

But as a heads up, GT layers would probably take a while depending on what layer weight/layer base is being used.]

Sunday DnD update: we have made it to level three!!! subclass time!!! armourer artificer time for Gabriel!!! i am now a tank AND a scout. im so versatile <3

PC vs PC arguments are extremely fun and i wish i had more braincells available so i could play Gabriel more true to his character (i.e. a blunt vindictive asshole who is extremely protective of his sister) (i am very tired today so i tried my best. but i could have been Meaner)

everyone keeps giving Gabriel gifts. everyone loves my boy. my 8 charisma standoffish asshole of a character <3

(Gabriel's liked gifts: food (Caspian gave him soup), pieces of metal (Cedric gave him a metal pipe), and tools (Cedric ALSO gave him thieves' tools but only bc he lost Gabriel's ones))

In related news, Caspian is 100% playing the platonic version of a dating sim

Mammon is a bastard. gave me a spell and in return stole my other fucking arm in a dream (vision?). this is exactly why i do not fuck with higher powers of ANY sort, fiendish or celestial or anything else,

(i still had it when i woke up from the tiefling-lineage-induced dream BUT. even if it had actually been taken it. wouldn't have been that bad. I've already lost one arm and i just built myself another one, it's not like it's gonna be HARD to do it a second time)
