I’m still processing how it happened and wondering what it all means, but today a big pink hamfaced English guy tried to fight Dr Glass in a parking lot (!) and a completely unrelated, amazingly tall woman appeared (!!) and charged the other guy in defense of Dr Glass (!!!) shouting at him so effectively that he got in his car and drove off.
Dr Glass doesn’t look like anything in particular or even do that much, he is so ORDINARY. He just emits some kind of magnetic field that causes Events, and yet the magnetic field also creates feedback that insulates him from the Events. Doesn’t even have to do his own fight scenes!! just magnetically attracts a TALL BRAVE WOMAN to destroy the entire fighting premise. No one can prepare for this. I feel like I’m the only person who notices it
#dr glass lore reveals#the premise of the fight was that the other guy almost hit me with his car and objected to Dr Glass’s objection#there was a lot of nuanced British masculinity in play but basically there was a big differential#in types of guy that made it even more awkward#best possible solution was this unhinged one. lady appears out of nowhere#offended that anyone would even try to punch Dr Glass. shouts aggressor down and leaves.#unrelated to all parties unconnected to the venue unbothered by the narrative#dispute the premise. exit.#I admired her tremendously not least because my role in the nuanced British carpark rumble was going to have to be a very complex one#the partner of the classier person can do a WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE? GET IN THE CAR gambit if they carry themselves well#but before i even stepped up to the chessboard this woman broke the fourth wall entirely. thank you ma’am#🫡

it’s wild to me that like every modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes (and by modern I mean “made recently” not “set in modern times”) is like Hell Bent on coming up with a Reason™️ that Watson stays with Holmes and trots around with him on adventures all the time despite the inconvenience and the danger and all, and so it’s like “oh, Watson’s a gambling addict, he loves uncertainty and mystery” or “oh, Watson’s an adrenaline junkie, he gets off on being constantly in danger from criminals” or even like “Watson’s atoning for sins of the past of BEING IN THE WAR by solving crimes with Holmes now” or WHATEVER. And it’s like, girl, maybe he’s just in love! Did you think of that?? Maybe he’s got a crush and it’s making him do stupid things. Maybe he’s just got bad taste and his type is guys who don’t know how to refold newspapers properly but can identify different types of cigar ash by sight, smell, and taste. And wrote a monograph on the subject. Maybe he’s down bad is all. I mean, Keep is simple, stupid!!!
#this whole problem also requires the extra step of making Holmes into someone who’s like actively cruel and terrible to Watson specifically#which like he also isn’t in canon at all#he’d probably be an inconvenient roommate that not everyone would personally want to put up with#but he’s not like endangering Watson all the time and interfering in his affairs constantly#The way writers always adapt him doing#so like it’s a problem they’re inventing and then writing a silly solution for#and no one better come for me for ‘bad taste’ I was trying to be funny and also Holmes is insane#the fact that Watson took one look at him and his bonkers lifestyle and pledged his life to him is just proof that Watson is also insane#in the when harry met Sally way of ‘thank god these two found each other and spared the rest of us the trouble’#anyway this is all part and parcel with the way writers who adapt Holmes don’t understand Watson#and even people who LIKE Holmes and get his deal still rarely get what makes Watson great#BUT that’s an essay for a different time and I won’t get into it now#sherlock holmes#john watson#doctor watson#acd#acd canon#tagging this as canon is sooo silly sorry but I don’t know what else to put#also worth noting that like the idea of working with Holmes as this chronically super dangerous thing is also silly#Like a solid percentage of their cases are solved from the comfort of baker street#there’s definitely some dangerous cases (‘bring your revolver’ is a meme for a reason after all) but like not enough of them#that you can make a strong case for John Watson: Adrenaline Junkie™️#except that modern writers make every case life or death high stakes serious so like….thats where it comes from#ANYWAY

It's crazy what he gets away with (and who the ones letting him get away with it are)
Bruce: What Nightwing did might have been... unconventional, but it worked.
Tim: Exactly. I mean, sure, the plan might have involved hacking into Gotham’s power grid, a few strategic distractions, and, uh, some minor illegal surveillance-
Barbara: MINOR? DISTRUBANCES??
Tim: Okay, fine! The plan also had a teensy bit of hacking into the stock market, manipulating a few politicians, and borrowing a couple confidential documents, but nobody was harmed!
Bruce: ...In the strictest sense.
Tim: Yes! See, it's a win-win solution!
Barbara: *furious* You two are insane. You’re treating morally ambiguous like it’s a fun new hobby. He practically engineered an escape from a high-security prison by tricking the entire staff into thinking it was game night. In addition, he orchestrated a city-wide blackout just to steal classified documents, and you’re calling it genius?
Bruce: Very resourceful.
Tim: I mean... it’s not his fault they didn’t know how to play Dungeons & Dragons. Also, I want to see who else could pull off a high-profile heist while simultaneously launching a PR campaign for a new tech startup!
Bruce: *to Tim* Wayne Enterprise's tech gadgets cleared the shelves, we need to speed up production.
Tim: Already on it.
Barbara: You’re defending this? That’s not genius, that’s a psychotic breakdown wrapped in a cape! It's madness layered up in a three-piece suit!
Bruce and Tim: It’s Dick.
Barbara: I swear, if it was anyone else, you’d be throwing them in a cell for years.
Bruce and Tim: It’s Nightwing. He has plausible deniability.
Barbara: Plausible? I think he has a whole separate universe of deniability!

@ninadove YOU.
Thank you for making me appreciate the tragic nature of slithering-out-of-grasp design of Aspik. I could not resist :(( I BLAME YOU FOR EVERYTHING <3
rest of you read It brings the world back into tune
Bonus: A familiar voice
#my art#my post#lukadrien#aspik#cat!luka#berlioz#adrien agreste#luka couffaine#it brings the world back into tune#snake!felix#ladybug#felix graham de vanily#okay I had to draw two new costumes for this and Berlioz's is kinda almost too casual but I feel like it fits??? well i like it#however with Felix I knew I could go silly and extra :D#if I may put my own headcanons here. I've had thoughts about snake Felix while drawing#You know how Aspik's problem was caring too much and trying to rescue people every time and suffering when he couldn't#how Viperion is attentive and patient and knows when to step aside to watch and make conclusions and then guide his teammates#patience and analysis applies to Felix too#but. I thought about taking risksssss during loops#I thought about fights where Felix pushes his teammates under fire on purpose to see what happens#loops when everyone in team is convinced he betrayed them#loops when he isn't bothered too much about harming people#(after all do people really care about harming those like him?)#but all that allows him to quickly find a solution#I feel like Ladybug would surely dislike him. this is certainly pre-s5 Felix to me. spitting poison#but he does his job perfectly and Ladybug doesn't want to admit that he's... probably a better fit than Aspik#while Luka tries to deal with the dissonance#It's Aspik's voice but different song. it's Aspik's eyes but different color. It's Aspik's lips but different smile#this is still about lukadrien angst. but i got very distracted with the cobra boy#what if he took this opportunity to learn everyone's identities on purpose

Something is making my brain itch about this father-daughter (assuming that’s their relationship) and the lack of second parent and the beagle.

There is also the conundrum of the check shirt! Check shirts usually mean impending danger for the wearer and so it has me wondering if whatever happens to this man will be foreshadowing something happening to Eddie?!
But there is also something about this still that is giving me a throw back to Eddie’s introduction to 911 and the 118 - that they’re going to somehow parallel Buck becoming part of Eddie and Chris’s family - something around Buck introducing Eddie to Carla so that he could get Chris what he needed and build a life and a family in LA.
There’s something about the idea that the show might make this parallel at the moment Eddie is leaving the 118 - to really drive it home what Eddie is leaving by moving to Texas - because it would hit hard for both Eddie and Buck - highlighting that they’ve both built their family together at the moment it’s seemingly going to be torn apart.
But in juxtaposition to this, there’s also something about the idea of the beagle metaphorically representing Buck or Bucks abandonment issues more specifically.
Buck rescuing the beagle from a shelter because it has seemingly been abandoned by its family in the same way Buck feels abandoned by his own family throughout his life. Buck getting attached to the beagle is a metaphor for Buck clinging to his abandonment issues because they’re safe because they’re what he knows - what he’s loved with all his life (so being abandoned by Eddie (and Chris) is fine because that’s what happens to him).
Only for him to find out the beagle actually does have a family who miss and love it and they get to be reunited - Buck can make that happen.
So reuniting dog and family is also symbolic of Buck saving himself - letting go of his abandonment issues - and by doing that - by rescuing himself - he can be reunited with his family - Eddie and Chris will come back to him - come back for him.
#I am very in my feelings about the possibilities that beagle represents#the symbolism around buck needing to deal with his abandonment issues - to let them go - is just so good#that the shelter is a temporary solution - that it is a kind of no man’s land - a limbo#and that it represents abandonment - being abandoned#but it’s also a place for lost animals - ones that weren’t actually abandoned - they were just separated from their family by circumstance#and so the shelter going up in flames is symbolic of things seemingly getting worse#of losing the semi security of limbo - of no longer being able to exist in being lost and abandoned#things seemingly having gotten even worse - but it’s darkest before the dawn#and no one was ever saved alone (thank you Athena for that line)#and out of the wreckage of limbo comes hope - and you end up being reunited with your family - the family you were separated from#I think I might#be projecting onto a dog - but I regret nothing!!!#there’s also something in the idea of the beagle being a representation of Buck and Buck looking after it temporarily before reuniting it#with its actual family and how that is a metaphor for Tommy being bucks temporary ‘home’ until he can reunited with Eddie and Chris#- his actual forever family!#but maybe that’s me clowning and taking things a step too far 😬🤡#911 spoilers#911 abc#evan buckley#buddie#metaphors and parallels#eddie diaz

Here's the way I see it:
Voting without activism is saying it's enough for the trolley to run over one person rather than five.
Activism without voting is sitting in the back trying to invent a new contraption out of trolley parts to avoid the choice altogether, with no idea if it'll work, and letting the trolley run over five people in the meanwhile because what's the point if someone will die anyway?
#do i want to find a way out of this? yes#do i want to let more people die until i find the perfect solution? FUCK NO#how are you going to save the world if you can't even save five people? you aren't.#you're just gonna keep wishing for your perfect world without taking any meaningful steps to get there

also i think it's kind of underrated that prior to dai, solas straight up murdered felassan mid-sentence, for just implying that his plan needed to change, despite them being Comrades In Rebellion for however many thousand years
but then in trespasser, he actually says "i would treasure the chance to be wrong, my friend" to a friendly inquisitor who says they're going to prove that he doesn't need to go through with his plan. even with a hostile inquisitor he's like "yeah whatever, i hate your ass but i'm not going to kill you 🙄" despite this being the most likely person to be able to interfere with his plans, and logically he should really take them out if he wants to guarantee success. that is Growth.
#dragon age#txt#solas#i am ignoring veilguard. it did not happen.#i think the idea of warring with this severe ''i HAVE to do this trolley problem and no one else can''#vs ''i really do not want to do the trolley problem'' is so much more compelling than whatever the hell happened in vg#boiling it all down to ''nostalgia'' and ''mythal 🥺'' is. indescribably boring.#and they even defanged mythal so she's barely even doing anything narratively beyond managing solas' emotions#also personally my theory was always that the end step of his whole dinan'shiral bit was that#since he did not have any real solutions to the blight (did not seem to really understand titans or grey wardens and was too proud to ask)#so he was going to do something like lock himself into the black city to reseal it#and accept being blighted and presumably extremely killed by the angry evanuris inside in the process#which is why he's also very doomer and resigned about it

I recently got diagnosed with autism. The doctor said I've been in autistic burnout for the past 5 years and im tipping into DPDR (she was right but its too late, my baseline has been aware but temporally fragmented. The new development is sometimes i feel 0 sensation)
The doctor said i can fix this if I unmask and do things like wear compression gear and noise cancelling
turn my devices to greyscale
Live in dim lighting
She gave me a lot of small tips and they were good at first but now I'm getting worse. I have days now where I'm too tired to stim, too tired to bathe, too tired for everything (except schoolwork for some reason) (all of these things I enjoy).
How do I fix it? I haven't had a hobby in 5 years. I don't want to be in burnout and I want to fix all of it. Does anyone have any tips? Anything at all? Theories? Fleeting thoughts? Hearsay?
The one thing I can't do is stop. I'm a graduate student and I'm working on thesis and papers. And also it's a secret. Or else I'll get brutally harassed and shunned (it's a very strange neighborhood)
#autism#actually autistic#i went online like my doctor said and the first thing i saw was euthanasia and i was like BRO 😭#i dont want that but thanks. any advice except giving up or killing myself. any tips please#im stuck in this self destructive loop where art is my connection to the world but skill regression and mental pain but i cant stop#thats why i wanted to get rid of the burnout. and then my body started physically shutting down. uh oh#my doctor is useless as hell. bro started yapping about how its so hard and poor me and how she couldnt ever be me#and i was like wtf i dont want to bond over autism. we are entirely different people. im just fine. could be better if i be better. help me#she didnt help so im planning to get rid of her. she offers me sympathy when i ask for solutions#this wouldnt be a problem in normal circumstances because i know what it means when someone performs this#but im lowkey kinda tweaking. also i paid her and she didnt give me practical advice except. drop out and live off my parents#my parents???? how do you know i have any? wtf is this advice i live alone because people set my nerves on fire these days#she told me ill die if i dont change my ways. i know what she implied but holy shit tell me how to fix it then#im scared for the first time in my life#ive done everything she said. im breaking the mask. i stim even in public. what else?#neurodivergent#autistic adult#autism struggles#i shutdown and i dont notice because im extremely low interoception. but im trying. now i remember to snap myself awake and check#and worst of all i still do everything im supposed to. i never miss any deadlines. i stepped down from lecturing for now.#my duties are at bare minimum. i dont think im missing anything obvious. i dont know how to be autistic and im fading away now#please help me. i still want to be a person. i dont want to dissappear. im watching it happen#but im doing what i was told.

#i'm exaggerating a little#but it is very very frustrating to keep finding these yj posts that only mention the boys by name and yet still ??? tag anita??#like i get a lot of this is fanon-only people who haven't read the comics and so don't know anybody besides the core four#but that's just bad tagging etiquette man#hm. clearly the only solution to this problem is to step up my Anita Content Making Game#so i can slowly indoctrinate all the fanon-only people into being as insane about her as i am#*shouting into the void* anita isn't just sitting around reacting to tim bart and kon! she's too busy cyber stalking cissie and#burning her superhero name into cassie's lawn! she's gay and handling it extremely weirdly!!#anyway shoutout to all the artists who make anita-centric art please know i'm in love with all of you#anita fite#dc empress#young just us#dc comics#yj98#young justice#anita tag

The more I think about Wildmender the more I grow invested in it. It's a fascinating interpretation of terra nil and solarpunk since so often the genre is fundamentally rooted in settler-colonialist philosophy, and even games which are intended to be the opposite of that--terra nil comes to mind as the obvious one--just end up actually revealing a different side of the factorio problem, because terra nil is an incredible impersonal restoration of ecological systems. Terra Nil acknowledges climate destruction on a global catastrophic scale and it accepts the responsibility to fix that, but it isn't shown as a human act, nor does it really allow itself the realism of just how terrifyingly impossible the task is to try and literally fix the entire world. Its game structure is supposed to be the anti-factorio but its puzzle structures focusing on efficiency and robotic engineering patterns of rewilding end up feeling more like a dialogue than an inversion. It's trying to say that the idea of humanity as fundamentally destructive is wrong while it doesn't actually ever address the human element.
And then there's fucking Wildmender. A game where you are a single human child in a world of endless wasteland and death, where the only other things are ghosts who remember a halcyon era and the hubris that ended it, wraiths which are consumed by their own greed and destruction of the land for their cursed immortality, and a couple god statues. The entire map is just ceaseless grief, filled with the literal dessicated remains of all the biodiversity that came before the countless disasters. And it's a big fucking map.
And then...the game gives you a shovel and a sickle and a mirror that shows the wraiths what twisted reflections they've become.
And the game says, "The entire world is waiting to be better, and the only way to do that is by doing it yourself, long and hard and hopeless as it seems."
I cannot emphasize enough how overwhelming the task you're handed. There is not a single speck of life left in the world. You are given a shovel and a water bottle and just...expected to do something about it. To look at the literal endless wastes and think you can heal it.
This is what Wildmender cherishes that Terra Nil denies: This is an impossible task for you alone. But it has to be done...and you can actually do it. The way you can turn sand into soil and dig irrigation channels is beautiful. Every single scrap of land that you reclaim is something you had to do on purpose. You had to do it yourself. You had to actively choose how to do it.
And the game makes the reward of even just getting a bit more water into the sand feel like victory. Your starting oasis turns from soil into lush and beautiful meadows--sure, technically instantaneously by doing magic on a specific type of plant. But it took me 4-5 hours before I got there. You have to travel so far into the desert to learn how to grow grass again, and then you realize that this endless hostile wasteland is a fraction of the map you're given. And you look at this sudden profusion of meadowy grassland surrounding your spring and despite how sudden it feels you remember how big the world is. You made more progress in a minute than you did in 5 hours and it's not even a speck on the map. How the fuck is this gonna happen?
And the answer is by accepting that it's going to take a long fucking time and a lot of hard work.
That's how it's gonna happen. Get to work.
#i have Opinions on the concept of desert as fundamentally empty and devoid of life as a SW native#but honestly the game handles the baggage really beautifully in ways i adore#it makes this impossible task youre handed not merely meaningful but also empowering#because it never does shy away from what its demanding of you it makes you earn every fucking inch#but like. when my first oak tree gave me my first harvest of acorns?#acorns i could use to bring the ghosts of more old oaks back to life?#the feelings i felt knowing that this little oak grove was a major first step in turning the endless translucent corpses filling the land#oh man#i choked up for real.#anyway. buy wildmender :)#and if for some reason youre having serious performance issues for no fucking reason when you first install#getting a refund and then rebuying the game somehow completely solved it for me. so uh. theres one solution maybe?#OH RIGHT#my writing#my essay#my essays#wildmender

Peronism isn't hard to understand when you see it as the Argentine expression of both "social democracy" (the New Deal Democrats in the US, the Social Democrats in European countries) and the anti-imperialist revolutionary movements in the Third World (Nasser in Egypt for example, many of the "Non-Alligned" leaders). I believe this is the best way to approach it from an outsider's prespective.
Yes, it has many unique things, but Argentines tend to exaggerate a bit when they joke it's unique and incomprehensible. The tug of war between right and left factions, a charismatic leadership that took, let's say, "pragmatic" decisions and ideologies, the sell-out during the neoliberal wave in the 90s... when you read about world history, and especially about countries in the Third World, you start to see the parallels.
#cosas mias#I leave actual interpretations to the reader#in my opinion Peronism did more for the workers of Argentina than any other political movement and it remains a popular movement#but back then and currently it has failed to take the steps towards the actual 'second independence' of Argentina (socialism)#the 'solution' to this is not easy but nothing in Argentina is ever easy
