/* day 001 of this */
It was supposed to be yesterday, but it turned out to be such a shitty, shitty day that all I wanted in the end was to crawl into bed and cry, like a Sim trying to change their mood.
It’s so hard to finally be living abroad, studying what I want, yet feeling like everything is falling apart—as if it could turn into a nightmare at any moment. I love that I can finally walk the streets I once dreamed of, see beautiful landscapes, and take photos like this (and post them here, just like I imagined when I was 11).
Imposter syndrome? Just freaking out? Guess we’ll never know. Just trying to be grateful for all of it—for my boyfriend, who saves me every day, even though he makes me want to kill him most days.
That’s it.
Day 001, you were awful.

Learning from mistakes
Today was absolutely wonderful. Although I don't have many photographs I did do a lot more than I expected.
I finished two pending notebooks in the morning. Did half of my English homework.
I took a break, used it to collect information from lecture videos.
Did some physics in the morning, I completed everything I wanted to. After that, I took a break and finished chores. Then I sat down to do politics but got distracted by some other work. I played with my little brother who woke up with an eye flu this morning. We fantasized our bedroom. Turned our blankets into an island and pretended the rest of the room was an ocean an the furniture was mountains.
I fell asleep somewhere around 5 and woke up at 8:45. Finished a couple paragraphs in my English textbook.
Worked on politics after that and completed my set quota. Now, I'm about to go sleep.
After all this work, it truly feels well-deserved.
Good night!!

Context (An Inspector Calls)
General
Play set in 1912
Before the first world war and sinking of the Titanic.
Women had fewer rights and opportunities.
Play written in 1945
After two world wars & after the titanic sank.
Women had more rights, opportunities and responsibilities.
1912
Workers rapidly moving to cities.
Since workers were all together, their ideas were spreading faster.
Bosses were threatened by workers like Eva (e.g. due to riots).
Workers felt that their skills weren’t being valued.
Technology at this time was unreliable but people were optimistic about ti (e.g. Titanic).
1945
Country was struggling after the wars.
Labour party was first to openly support the working class- giving hope to working class.
Churchill didn’t appease working class people and thus lost his power- message of the play.
Classes
In 1912, strong distinctions existed between the upper and lower classes.
However, by 1945, class distinctions had been greatly reduced due to the 2 world wars.
Government
In 1945, first Labour government had just been elected- showed public was more open to change. This government was closer to Priestley’s views.
Priestley wanted change but not a violent revolution, like in Russia in 1917.
Women
Women were subservient to men.
All a rich woman could do was get married; a poor women was seen as cheap labour.
In 1945, due to the wars, women had earned a more valued place in society.
Eternal Recurrence
Priestley believed in ‘eternal recurrence’: the idea that you would repeat your life over and over again until you had made all of the right choices.
Poverty
Massive population growth- led to disease being spread faster etc.
Poor living conditions.
People worked long hours for little pay- many turned to prostitution.
Life expectancy was very low.

we’ve finished part one of The Stranger! i used yellow tabs for annotations but i think i’ll switch to a different color for the next part. the style of this book is really interesting, and it lends itself especially well to the vibe of the plot.
Quarantine Fall Study Challenge Day 38 - October 14th
show us your annotations! here they are! when i was annotating Crime and Punishment, i simply underlined parts of note but because i’m borrowing this copy of The Stranger from my teacher, i’m using sticky tabs that i got from staples.
today’s seltzer: no seltzer :(( tomorrow i’m going to get some aha strawberry cucumber though!

cafe mugging - an aesthetic:
staring blankly into space before scribbling feverishly, a badly neglected iced latte, tidy notes with calligraphed headers, sheets of grid paper, pastel highlighters, a lofi playlist, the soft, sweet scent of vanilla, fairy lights and neon signs, heavily annotated textbooks.

3/100
Ayer comencé a leer Life of Pi, en ingles.

Through much experimenting ive figured out that messy, chaotic study methods work the best for me. While i love neat, aesthetic notes, my brain retains stuff better if there’s an excess of arrows and scribbles and sarcastic side notes involved.
So far my fav topics we’ve studied in psych are id, ego, superego and the five Laws Of Perception. I’m loving this class.
Day 3 of Studyblr Community Challenge by @myhoneststudyblr
Why did you create your studyblr?
I've always wanted to be part of a like minded community and make friends who share my love for studying and knowledge. Also this community is just so positive and welcoming in general.
Also, as someone who finds studying rather easy and fun i hope i can help some of you with school and note taking and just life in general :) looking forward to posting on here and meeting other studyblrs
