Hey everyone.
I had wanted to ask.
So I used to use studyverse because I can't study alone and I really liked the interface but that site got sold and shut down. Unfortunately for me I didn't add anyone who I used to study with at the place so now all of that is lost.
I tried using some apps but problem with apps is that they ask an override permission which gives them access to where I tap on my screen and such information and I'm really really not comfortable with that.
So what other places can I go where I can find a study crew with proper pomodoro and graphics. My adhd ass needs some sort of anchoring to find some accountability.
What things do you use? I tried discord but it was really boring tbh.

same adhd anon as before: that's what helps me, a few tips to start something
1. it's hard fore start doing things that take a lot of responsibility. so i make myself less stressed making it look casual. i open the notes on phone while idk lying on the bed and starting to write as a draft. just thoughts, no structure. at some point i start to get more and more involved and then fixate on it.
2. adhd gives you time blindness so make yourself feel the time. same notes but write kind of a plan with time marks but make them critical. like not the real time it takes but the longest possible. for example, intro: 1 hour, body chapter 1: 3 hours... and so on. then sum it and feel how urgent it is.
3. do it with someone by your side. external pressure or when you compete with someone (it works the best for me). i love to compete and to win, sometimes we even do different things but it much better to stay focused when someone near to you also does something.
in the end, as adhd person remember the main principe: INCUP. interest, novelty, competition, urgency, pressure. use these things to make yourself productive. adhd is a bitch but sometimes it gives you superpowers.
Last anon I respond to before I lock in. Thank you so much for the advice. I was only diagnosed in the past couple of years so it takes some time for me to snap out of the cycle of WHYCAN'TIJUSTBENORMALANDWORKNORMALLY and into work/focus mode.
Tumblr, you're my external focus. I use virtual study rooms quite a lot while I'm work from home (like today) so I just need to get myself a coffee then I may actually go create one that anyone is welcome to join just to get a little body double motivation. I use studyverse, no camera/mic, to do lists that everyone can see, and screensharing only if the person wants to (I won't be because my work is a little too identifiable, but feel free to!) I'm going to go fix myself a coffee then drop the link in the next 10 mins. I'm aiming for a 2 hour stint so if anyone wants to come join and we hold each other accountable, feel free!

Hi! Hope you're having a great day! List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! get to know your mutuals and followers <3
Hi!!! Apologies- this is yet another ask I am getting to incredibly late 😔 Stuff happened. Thank you so much for sending this in though, and I hope you're having a wonderful day too!
Tumblr media
Here's my list:
My wonderful little kitty cat, Mina! I named her after the astronomer Williamina Fleming :> She is very annoying and refuses to leave me alone- I wouldn't have it any other way.
Perhaps a random addition, but angel food cake! ... Which I'm just now learning is apparently specific to the United States? If my followers from other lovely parts of the world could let me know if you've ever had angel food cake, I'd be incredibly grateful. And if you haven't, try it! It's definitely on the sweeter side but it's still quite a light and airy desert, being a sponge cake and all. It's on my mind since I just had some for dessert this past Sunday as part of a "going away" dinner for my PhD program (❁´◡`❁)
Scented candles! I had been having trouble regaining my productivity after graduating earlier this summer, and recently I went back to revisit some of my strategies that I've used in the past to see if they'd help. One of these was to light some specific scented candles I have whenever I wanted to get work done. Totally worked, and I'm a bit ashamed a didn't think of it earlier! It's much easier to relax and get work done when everything smells so nice ( ̄︶ ̄) So it's been on my mind how nice it is to live in a world with easily accessed scented candles and how happy they make me.
The people in my life. I know this is non-specific, but I have a lot of people that I'm grateful for and that make me happy! I love my family, I have good friends, and my fellow students and incoming cohort at the PhD program I'm heading into are really nice. It's lovely to be surrounded by such a talented and supportive group of people. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in what we feel like we don't have that we lose sight of all of the good people we do have in our life. No matter what, there's always somebody that cares that you're around- even if it doesn't feel like it.
I suppose now's a good time to reveal that I started using that StudyVerse service I've been seeing around in some studyblr spaces earlier this month, and although I wasn't... enthused to say the least by the generative AI features, the site itself is really great! It's been wonderful using it. The idea of "losing my streak" and having the accountability of other students has DEFINITELY kept me motivated to study every day, even if it's only for a little bit. It's a much healthier way to approach things than what I was doing! The fact that even just an under 10 minute session counts towards your streak is really reassuring- it's like a nice little reminder that life is a marathon, not a sprint. 20 days in and I haven't missed a day so far, it's definitely made me happy! And it's so fun seeing how all these different people from all over the world set up their study spaces (o゜▽゜)o☆

hello everyone :)
i'm a new studyblr and here's a bit about me! - i'm aussie - i'm female - year 10 - i love stranger things and harry potter (hello fellow gryffindors!) - i'm not sharing my name for privacy, please respect that!
school stuff
- i study 6 subjects :) - r.e. (catholic school woohoo), english, maths methods (sorry about the australian subjects, it's essentially hard math), maths extension, science and science extension. - i juggle this, work and sport so bear with my potential inactivity :) - also, as i am australian my school structure is totally different, i'll try to post to suit all different school systems!
why did I create a studyblr?
well, I watched a study video on youtube and I ended up really far into the studyverse. I also think this will keep me motivated in some sense for school
favourite studyblrs
i love @studyquill @fuckstudy (fellow aussies yay) and @tbhstudying :)

Algumas dicas e atitudes que me ajudaram a alcançar a meta:
Agora é tentar lembrar no futuro!

honestly this is so relatable and good to see in the studyverse. When I got my first B for a class during my second quarter of freshman year I literally cried because I thought I already screwed up my entire future, but that is so not the case and B’s are not bad.
they really aren’t!!! i’m always kind of sad whenever my friends worry about getting “subpar” grades because they have extremely high expectations for themselves (AND THEY'RE ALL AMAZING TALENTED WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS) which i can completely understand. i’ve always had these high standards for myself which is partly because of the stereotyping that comes with being asian but also because that’s just how i am. i’m the type of person who wants to do their best. and if my best was a b? that’s fine.

Ask: Taking AP Lang, AP Micro, AP Chem, AP Bio?
Hi!
My computer boofed and I accidentally deleted this ask before I could send the answer. Sorry about that, studyverse!
I’m so glad you’re thinking of taking these awesome APs! Before I go on, let me add a few disclaimers, though:
1. Classes differ in intensity and workload depending on what teacher you have and what school you attend. So my personal experience is influenced by these factors.
2. People have different perceptions of difficulty depending on personal skills (I had  a couple friends in AP calc; one slept through every class and made an A, the other ended up crying on her bathroom floor.)
That being said, AP Micro is generally seen as a really interesting AP of middling difficulty. If you’re good at understanding trends and okayish or better at reading graphs, AP Micro will be fine for you.
AP Lang was incredibly easy for me, but I’ve never had an issue with English class and I write for fun. I can attest to the fact that this class is really universally based on writing, so if you don’t feel comfortable with essays making up a significant portion of your grade, I would avoid it. On the other hand, my experience with this class was that there wasn’t a lot of homework to be done - other than reading the books (or sometimes, I’ll admit, the sparknotes for the books) I didn’t get any busy work, but in my school’s regular English class, they did have busy work. So if you’re tight on time, take the AP.
AP Bio is a lot of memorization. My teacher gave us weekly pop quizzes so we always had to stay up-to-date on the material.
AP Chem, on the other hand, is an extremely difficult class. I’ve never had a problem in Algebra and even so, I barely made an A in Honors Chem, and I avoided leveling up to AP Chem the following year in a serious way. AP Chem has a lot of difficult concepts and complex math that, in the inimitable fashion of science, comes along with a thousand different loopholes that aren’t found in traditional math like algebra or calculus. Unless you’ve taken a chemistry class before and you made an A, do not take AP Chem. However, fair warning, medicine comes with a lot of chemistry. So your best option might be to sign up for AP chem and drop to regular chem if you find it’s not for you. It’s always easier to drop to regular than to move up to AP.
Finally, in summary, it looks like you’re looking at four APs, which I found to be a very manageable workload - granted, I didn’t practice sports or play a musical instrument. I found I probably had an average of two hours of work a night, and then of course ever so often there were bad four or five hour nights of projects/essays and general bad timing of assignments. Just remember that it’s all relative, and to take care of yourself first.
Best of luck!
