Things that are canon in Dragon Ball Z Abridged but NOT in actual Dragon Ball Z (Part 5)
~ Buu Saga Addition PART 2 ~
Dende has major insecurities about Gohan being with Videl.
Bababi is the one who came up with the idea of calling them Super Saiyans 2 & 3. Goku finds those names boring and prefers to call them “Super Duber Saiyan” and “Super De-Duber Saiyan”.
Piccolo refers to Gotanks as “Truten”.
Trunks sees Nappa as his uncle (looks like he’s babysat and spent time with Trunks so often that Nappa’s considered family).
Nappa died of a “stroke” (RIP Nappa)
Vegeta and Nappa reunited as ghosts thanks to Gotank’s Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack. Vegeta was horrified, Nappa was so happy.
Super Buu can make the people he’s absorb speak through his body, he used this fucked up trick to mock Gohan and torment him using Piccolo, Goten and Trunks’ voices, crying out to him as they suffer inside Buu.
Super Buu ate the Uber Eats delivery guy.
Also Uber Eats and Doordash exist in the abridged world.
Vegito can not psychically say “Goku”. His Vegeta side will not allow it. This becomes such a problem that Vegito puts his fight with Buu on hold just to argue with himself about this debate!
Goku doesn’t really seem to care about Dende and just sees him as the the literal dragon balls guy. If he wasn’t tied to the dragon balls, Goku would’ve most likely have let him die.
After Dende tells Mr Satan that his daughter is a “man stealing whore”, Satan agrees stating Videl is “just like her mother”. What was Videl’s mother like???
Vegeta is REALLY pissed at Goku for not saving Gohan and refuses to let it go (we are all with ya Geets!).
Goku didn’t use the spirit bomb technique on Perfect Cell because he “knew it wasn’t going to work”.
“Vegeta’s stuff” = Bulma & Trunks
Mr Popo is the reason Goku’s spirit bomb was able to gain so much energy to destroy Kid Buu, and that was only Mr Popo lifting up ONE of his arms. How much power would’ve Goku been given if Mr Popo lifted up both arms???!! This also means that he could’ve easily obliterated Kid Buu but chose not to.
It’s insinuated that both versions of Broly (Z and Super) coexist in the abridged universe.
Trunks’ blue hair in Super was just a phase of him dying it before returning back to his natural lilac color by end of Z.
No one wants to talk about Jiren.
Goku is well aware of GT and what it’ll do to his granddaughter’s character.
Bulma uses her money to help provide for Uub’s family while he’s away training with Goku.
Chichi and Gohan are chill with Goku leaving them to train Uub (it’s Goku, they’re not surprised).
Boob

[Can't believe I didn't think of this while reading the chapter, but a post on FB pointed out another inconsistency (no shocker there) in the latest chapter of DBS.
Trunks is afraid of ghosts. And also says they don't exist. Not only does Goten point out that, to some degree, both of their dads kind of came back as ghosts in the Buu Saga, but also
One of Gotenks's attacks is Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack. Where they use. Ghosts. Which I guess can be argued is different because they make them, but. Here we are again with inconsistent writing for the lulz.
I mean I know they've basically just written Gotenks off at this point anyway unless they need comedic relief but jeez.]

Dragonball Z Games Week
Recently, I came up with the concept of playing a different Dragonball Z game for each day of the week. Highlighting what made it a great game and revealing my fondest memories of each game. Each game has a special place in my heart and I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts.
Monday
Name: Dragonball Z Attack of the Saiyans (1990) Platform: NES Description: In this game, you play as the heroes and re-enact the Saiyan Saga. Along with the fights against the saiyans you also battle Garlic Junior, an army of saibamen and a variety of saiyan forces. At one point in the story you can team up the heroes in groups of two, such as Piccolo & Gohan or Krillin & Yamcha. Your battle power represented by your character’s power level directly affects your attack and defense. The higher your power level the stronger you become.
Memorable Moments: It was a tough game. If your character dies, there is no way to revive them for the rest of the game. If everyone in your party dies then it is game over. You can activate the moon/tail combination cards in order to transform Kid Gohan into a Great Ape. One of the saiyan enemies can turn into a Great Ape as well!
Tuesday
Name: Dragonball Z Gaiden (1993) Platform: NES Description: In this game, earth faces a new threat and what’s worse is that the heroes have forgotten how to perform their signature moves! It’s up to the player to match the right cards, re-learn all their old abilities and save the world from this new threat! There is a wide variety of enemies who were designed specifically for this game. Along with a ghost warrior form of Frieza, some former movie villains also reappear such as Lord Slug, Cooler and Turles.
Memorable Moments: This game has a 6-slot tournament which allows players to face off against each other. After each major part in the story you can pick an extra card. You start with a maximum of three cards per turn but later on you can use all of you cards and activate the special signature moves of each character which can devastate the enemy. The hardest character to teach moves is Vegeta. Like the previous Dragonball Z games he can’t be controlled directly so what moves he learns is hit and miss.
Wednesday
Name: Dragonball Z Hyper Dimension (1996)
Platform: SNES Description: In this game, you pick one of ten characters from the Dragonball Z franchise and battle against another player or the computer player. There is also a story mode which has an increasingly difficult series of battles. Like Super Budoten 3, this game focuses very heavily on the Buu Saga. Of the ten characters there are only two that belong to other sagas, namely Frieza and Cell. Goku is in SSJ2 state and Vegeta is in the Majin state. The only time the characters have other forms are during the intro/finish pose or during an ultimate attack.
Memorable Moments: Story mode is really tough, you only get three lives in the form of Senzu beans. Once those run out then it’s game over. When I first played this game I thought that Adult Gohan was Yamcha and that Gotenks was related to Raditz somehow (they both have long hair and the Japanese lettering is similar). Despite the small roster, the characters are wonderfully animated and this game is very different to the more casual fighting games. This is first and foremost a hardcore fighting game. Newbies are likely to lose many times due to the tricky nature of performing special attacks and the unforgiving AI. By charging up you can also recover health which is an interesting mechanic and when you perform strong blasts your health decreases slightly, probably to avoid needless spamming.
Thursday
Name: Dragonball Z Legacy of Goku 2 (2003)
Platform: Nintendo Gameboy Advance Description: This game faithfully retold the Android and Cell saga, the player has all the main characters and can learn new moves as they progress in the game. The game starts with the History of Trunks story, which not only serves as a good introduction to the game but also sets itself apart from the other games. This game is much easier than the first one as it eases you gradually into the game. There are also ‘level gates’ which require your character to be at a certain level. This ensures balance and also gives the player a good indication of how they’re doing. Being able to pick multiple characters rather than just Goku also makes this game stand out.
Memorable Moments: Fantastic graphics, the ability to scan enemies with the scouter and a world map where you could fly around and head to different locations. Clearly their attempt to make the game more like a RPG and less linear.
Friday
Name: Dragonball Z Budokai 2 (2003) Platform: Nintendo Gamecube Description: This game was the direct sequel to Budokai. But instead of faithfully continuing the story, they decided to have a less linear story and allow you to pick what characters you want as allies in any given mission. While this presents the user with a more freeform mission structure, fans who want to experience the story exactly as depicted in the anime will be disappointed, especially when comparing this with it’s predecessor. For the most part it expands on the original game by adding several new characters and ensuring a good balance. Some older characters were replaced or dropped from the roster and there are a few ways in which the game streamlines features in other games, such as reducing the number of kaioken transformations Goku has to make the energy drain more manageable. There are also new fusion characters and abilities which can be used by characters such as Buu.
Memorable Moments: The intro movie was excellent and the capsule system in particular is rather unique and provides the means to customise your character. There are some particularly funny moments in story mode such as Dr Gero with his Saiba-Rangers and the segments involving Majin versions of famous Dragonball Z villains. The AI could be annoying at times, being particularly challenging in the tournament modes. As with the first Budokai, the characters still move in a very sluggish fashion. This wouldn’t change until the sequel.
Saturday
Name: Dragonball Z Supersonic Warriors 2 (2005) Platform: Nintendo DS Description: This game is a sequel to the game Supersonic Warriors which was released on the Gameboy Advance. This game is a 2D fighter in which the characters can fly and use energy attacks. They can use three different special attacks depending on whether they are above, below or on the side of the enemy. This game spices up the gameplay by refining the 3v3 mechanic and allowing characters to use support attacks. There are also team-based attacks which are determined by their battle partner. As you play through the game you gradually unlock characters. The weakest characters cost little DP but the stronger characters cost a lot of DP.
Memorable Moments: This game has some great tag team moves and most characters have a few, with characters like Gohan and Goku having a large amount of them. The music is good, the characters are well animated and the special attacks look cool. Makes good use of the touch screen and has a nice manga art style.
Sunday
Name: Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (2007) Platform: Nintendo Wii Description: In this game you can play as more than a dozen characters (161 different character forms) from the Dragonball Z franchise including characters such as King Vegeta and King Cold. You can also play as movie villains such as Turles, Lord Slug, Janemba, Dr Wheelo and Broly. The game features destructible environments, 360 degree battlefield action, beam struggle and an interactive storymode which combines cutscenes and battles to cover the important moments of the Dragonball Z story.
Memorable Moments: This game has virtually every Dragonball character and so you can really have a great time at mastering characters who often don’t get a spot in the limelight. There are 100 missions you can play and try to beat your best rank as well as a Sim Dragon mode which allows you to fight progressively harder enemies and gamble with your score. The motion controls really suit the game and making pulling off special moves really easy and enjoyable. You move your hands upward for the spirit bomb and you perform a 'hugging’ motion to perform your character’s grapple attacks. You can also buy and equip your characters with capsules to change their fighting style and add bonuses.
Worthy mentions: Dragonball Z Barcode Tournament (NES), Dragonball Z Infinite World (PS2), Dragonball Advanced Adventure (GBA), Dragonball Z Harukanaru Densetsu (DS)
This games week was really enjoyable and I look forward to revisiting this concept another time

I was thinking about Goku and Krillin's friendship and it occured to me that they spent months training with Roshi together but then only saw each other for maybe a day every few years. Have you ever had a realization that tripped you out like this?
This is a really good ask, anon, and I just wanted to take a moment to say so.
I have had a few ‘a-ha’ moments like these, but I’m kind of blanking on specific examples.  I’ll see what I can come up with.
1) For openers, there’s the whole thing where the Red Ribbon Army has a Dragon Radar, but it’s nowhere near as sophisticated as the handheld one Bulma invented.  I think the same holds true for Emperor Pilaf, but his gang is only three people.   You’d expect the RRA to have the best equipment possible, because that’s their whole deal, and by normal standards they probably do have the best possible Dragon Radar... but Bulma’s is simply that much better, because she’s on another level.   And it’s easy to overlook that, because Bulma’s supposed to be a genius teenager, like Donatello in TMNT, but the RRA’s Dragon Radar is the first hint that she’s even more special than we could have guessed.
2) Rewatching Dragon Ball in 2019, I gained a new appreciation for the filler episodes where Mr. Popo trained Goku.  The first time I saw them, I was hoping we’d see Goku grow up and make progress over the three year gap, but instead they just focused on his early days on the Lookout, with Popo just saying things and Goku failing to understand.  It was very frustrating to watch.
But in 2019, I noticed that all those episodes get paid off in the Piccolo Junior fight.   Popo kept telling Goku to be “quicker than lightning” and “quiet as the sky”, and Goku just couldn’t figure out how to do that, let alone fight at the same time.   He had to unlearn all the stuff that had helped him defeat King Piccolo, and he couldn’t do it... at first.    But by the time he fought Piccolo Junior, he put it all together, as demonstrated with his big finishing move.   Piccolo thought he had vaporized Goku, only for Goku to fly up into the air and crash into him.   Why didn’t Piccolo sense Goku’s presence?   Because Goku had learned to become as “quiet as the sky”.  Why couldn’t Piccolo dodge it?   Because Goku had learned to become “quicker than lightning.”  So it vindicates those filler episodes pretty nicely.   They weren’t just marking time, but they were setting up what the manga was going to do later.
3) I think last year, it hit me that Vegeta had probably never lost a fight before he went to Earth.   That alone isn’t probably any big deduction.  The only people stronger than him were all working for Frieza, and he knew to steer clear of them until he was ready.   But it explains why he was so giddy about the zenkai effect.   He had always known about it, but he never mentioned or cared about it until he experienced it for himself after losing to Goku, and then Zarbon.
Yeah, I think this occurred to me during a conversation about Vegeta killing Nappa instead of helping him.   In theory, Nappa could have recovered and gotten a lot stronger, just like Vegeta did.   But Saiyans Saga Vegeta didn’t care about that.   He only gave his henchmen one chancemand discarded them as soon as they lost.   This attitude would also explain why he never dared to challenge anyone at a higher level.    He knew no one would show him any mercy, so the zenkai boost would have been meaningless to him.
So he might have regretted killing Nappa after he experienced the zenkai firsthand, although he was so drunk on his own increased power that he probably never stopped to consider it.   But before Earth, Vegeta probably dismissed the zenkai as a crutch for lesser Saiyans.   In his mind, a truly great Saiyan never loses battles in the first place.  Or so he believed, until he lost a few times, and became stronger for it, and had to reconsider.
And that also explains how he warmed up to the Super Saiyan Legend over the course of one afternoon.   He and Goku made such sick gains that week that he started to wonder if you could zenkai your way to Super Saiyan, and then he was begging Krillin to shoot him just so he could get a step closer.
4) In the same vein, it occurred to me at some point that Bardock was probably stronger than King Vegeta, and neither of them realized it.   Maybe it was just a dub-ism, but I’m pretty sure “Father of Goku” has a line about Bardock’s power level being 10000.   At the time it was released, 10k wasn’t that big a deal, but in the Saiyans Saga, Vegeta was somewhere around 18-24k. Later, he would claim to have surpassed his father as a child, so I think it’s fair to assume that King Vegeta must have been in that 10,000 neighborhood.
Which makes a nice subtle commentary on why the Saiyan Kingdom failed. They tried to breed better warriors, putting all their stock in the royal family, when the true secret lay in warriors like Bardock, who were constantly getting clobbered and healed.  Prince Vegeta only started to make real progress once he began fighting on that same regimen.
5) Also about “Father of Goku,” Frieza only wanted Planet Kanassa subjugated because of the psychic powers of its inhabitants.   I think the dub insinuated that the planet itself gave people those powers, but whatever the case, Frieza heard about these people with unusual powers and wanted them stamped out immediately.   Just like he wiped out the Saiyans over the Super Saiyan Legend, and just like he planned to destroy Namek to prevent anyone else from using the Dragon Balls.
In short, Frieza fears and despises legends.  Why?  Because he’s so powerful that real people can’t hurt him, so his fears naturally turn to half-truths and folklore.   He chases down ghost stories and rumors, because let’s face it, what else does he have to occupy his time.   That’s why King Cold was happy to have the Saiyans working for him, while Frieza wanted them all dead.   Cold didn’t share Frieza’s hangups.   Cold barely knew what a Super Saiyan was, while Frieza thought about it all the time.
6) One day I thought about that timeline where Cell killed Trunks and took the time machine to find the androids.    That specific timeline is pretty much empty.  The Z-fighters are all dead, and so are all of the androids and Trunks.  They don’t even have a Cell anymore because he went back in time and never returned.   There’s still a population, I guess, because the Trunks of that world wouldn’t have just stood by while Cell absorbed everyone on Earth, but that’s about it.   Bulma might have survived Cell’s attack on Trunks, but she’d be the only “name” character on the board.  It just sounds like a pretty depressing world.   Maybe this was the timeline Whis picked out to relocate Blunks and Future Mai in Dragon Ball Super.
7) It sort of blows my mind that the entire Majin Buu arc takes place over a couple of days.    Like, episode 207 through 250 all takes place over one day.   We know this because Goku only had 24 hours to be back in the living world, and that time was cut short by his use of SSJ3.  Then the Elder Kai started doing his ritual to make Gohan stronger, and that took like 25 hours, I’m pretty sure.  That wrapped up in #262, and there was no break in the action from that point onward, all the way up to the defeat of Kid Buu in #287.  So yeah, eighty episodes over two days.   It’s practically real-time footage, save for skipping over the Elder Kai’s ritual and Goten and Trunks practicing and sleeping.
It’s hard to catch on to this, though, because so much stuff happens in the anime version that leads you to think that it’s a much longer span of time.    After Vegeta wrecks the stadium, the anime can’t decide whether or not Mr. Satan would stay there or return to his dojo.   In the Fusion Saga, Mr. Satan wanders from Buu’s house to the nearest town, then he wanders to the next town over, doing his “Last Man on Earth” bit, except this all happens during the Gotenks/Super Buu fight, which barely lasts half an hour.   In the afterlife, Chi-Chi is worried that she can’t find Gohan, but she wouldn’t have even been there that long, and wouldn’t she still be in line to meet King Yemma?  She was one of the last Earthlings to die, so how did she end up in heaven so quickly?
8) I used to think Movie 13 (the Hirudegarn one) was canon, but the last time I watched it, I noticed all these glaring problems.  They use the Dragon Balls in this one, which means it has to be set six months after the wish to make everyone forget about Majin Buum which means it’s been a year since Kid Buu was defeated.  Okay, fine, except Gohan and Videl are still in high school.   Shouldn’t they have graduated by then?
More importantly, their high school and Bulma’s house seem to be in the same city.   I guess that’s an easy mistake to make.   It took me a long time to even notice, but Orange Star High is in Satan City, which is a totally different place from West City.   I mean, right?  They’re not terribly far apart, but they’re not the same place either.
Then again, they seemed to make the same error in Episode 287, where Bulma’s out shopping and Great Saiyaman 1 and 2 foil a robbery.   Are they in West City or Satan City?  Maybe there’s more to this...

Gohan x (Saiyan) Tifa AU - Headcanons [Part 1]
@badassbarmaid
Cell was absorbing people in Tifa’s hometown (including her father)
Gohan and Krillin attack Cell and save Tifa, taking her to Bulma at Capsule Corp
Tifa reveals that her mother is a Saiyan, explaining her super strength, and ki spikes with her emotions similar to Gohan
Gohan and Tifa bond, Goku takes Gohan to train with him in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber
Cell Games
Goku does not go to New Namek and bring back Dende as the new Guardian of the Earth to restore the dragon balls
Cell games is as canon, but Tifa also watches (next to Krillin), and fights her own  Cell Junior later too
When Cell returns from his self destruction, he shoots a double death beam, one at Future Trunks, and one at Tifa.
Gohan protects Tifa in time, but his arm is injured in the process
Vegeta attacks Cell in a frenzy for killing Trunks and is killed by Cell
Piccolo firing his super charged Special Beam Cannon (the others buy him time) gives Gohan the opening to win the Kamehameha struggle to destroy Cell
New Namek - Cooler Movie 2 AU
Tifa joins Gohan and his friends (Krillin, Piccolo, Tien, Yamaha, Master Roshi, Yajirobe) travelling to New Namek for their dragonballs
New Namek has been taken over by a revived Meta-Cooler with an army of robots powered by the Big Geti Star
Gohan is even with Metal Cooler, but is only able to defeat and bypass his auto-regeneration with the help of Vegeta, who arrives to help ensure Future Trunks’ revival
After Cooler summons clones of himself and captures Gohan for his energy, the Big Geti Star overloads from Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 ki surge
with everyone later fighting against Cooler’s main body inside the Big Geti Star, Gohan protects Tifa from an attack and faints, causing her to go Super Saiyan and finish Cooler off
After defeating Metal Cooler, they use the Namekian dragonballs to revive those killed by Cell, including Tifa’s father and town, and Future Trunks
they also take Dende back with them to become Earth’s new guardian
like in canon, Goku chooses to remain in Otherworld
+ Bojack Movie: Tifa saves Gohan from Bojack’s bear hug (instead of Ghost Goku), which triggers his Super Saiyan 2 again
+ Buu Saga - Gohan keeps a good balance of studying/training during the timeskip because he continues sparring/training with Tifa while attending the same highschool

Mission Team Up [Gohan & Zizzi] @bluemajingirl
cc-gohan "Hi there, how can I help you?" // Send “job request” for your muse to ask mine for a job.
bluemajingirl answered
"Oh yeah, I could use the help. I'm having a hard time with this mission recently. I keep getting destroyed anytime that I try it." She explained to him as she was looking over some health capsules.
Tumblr media
Gohan had become one of the first Time Patrollers and mentors after Future (Xeno) Trunks, having lived his life protecting the Earth, Universe 7 and then the stability of time itself after being recruited by the Supreme Kai of Time. Because of that he had a lot of seniority and experience, with the (time) technology that came with it too.
“I see, I’d like to know the details of the mission to best help you, who do you have to fight to complete it?” he asked Zizzi as put up a hologram to go through the mission archives, noticing her looking at health capsules. “Hm, you’re a Majin, correct? They must be really tough if your natural regeneration is giving you an advantage in battle.”

my roommate and i watched the full buu vs. vegito battle last night (and wow it’s a lot longer than in the manga) and i noticed something interesting in the lead up to goku and vegeta fusing.
in the anime, goku refers to “our friends” as having been eaten by buu, while the audience is shown images of piccolo, gotenks, krillin, eighteen, and marron getting attacked. vegeta doesn’t protest this, implying that he might actually see some of them as friends.
but the big “gasp! ok i guess we do have to fuse” comes when goku mentions bulma, the loss of his wife being enough to convince vegeta to put aside his pride and put the earring on.
but in the manga, goku only mentions five specific people, in this order: bulma, piccolo, gohan, goten, and trunks. and it’s trunks’ name that’s in bold, implying that it’s specifically his son that vegeta is able to put aside his pride for.
there are some parts of the anime version of this fight that i like better (although doing the super ghost kamikaze attack twice was kinda silly, but it was still kinda cool), but i think the manga handled the actual fusion bit a little better.
it could just be because i’m aro and don’t find romantic love all that interesting (and it’s used so often as a motivator that it’s kinda dull for me), but vegeta fusing with goku for his son comes off as more powerful. in the last arc, cell killed future trunks and vegeta was helpless to stop him or even avenge his surprise future child. here, vegeta is confronted with that a very similar scenario - his son has been killed by a regenerating monster that was only able to kill said son because of vegeta’s own actions (letting cell become perfect, going majin and fighting goku). but this time, he has a chance to avenge him.
not a whole lot of point to this, just some thoughts.

Dragon Ball: Each Main Character's Most Iconic Scene
New Post has been published on https://darlinginthefranxxmerch.com/dragon-ball-each-main-characters-most-iconic-scene/
Dragon Ball: Each Main Character's Most Iconic Scene
Tumblr media
The Z Fighters are Earth’s mightiest champions, and each character in the Dragon Ball establishment has their best and most significant second.
Tumblr media
The Z Fighters are Earth’s mightiest champions. They have confronted intergalactic dangers, hereditarily designed animals, enchanted creatures, and surprisingly genuine Gods and consistently figure out how to dominate the competition. Their battles consistently accompany a lot of misery and difficulty, and it’s this eagerness to put others’ prosperity before their own that makes them the worthiest of heroes.
Each character in the establishment has their best and most vital second. Most happen in the warmth of a fight, albeit a couple happens in everyday life. These scenes are currently darling among devotees of the establishment, and a couple even positions as a portion of anime’s generally famous and vital crossroads.
10.Yamcha Wins The Baseball Game
Tumblr media
Poor Yamcha doesn’t get a lot of regards. He does not have any of the super-strength, sturdiness, or crude force of the Saiyans. Without a doubt, he’s simply an Earthling, a human in the top state of being, yet a human in any case. And keeping in mind that the Z Fighters and fans frequently underestimate him, he was a vital person in the first anime.
Yamcha gets one more opportunity to sparkle in Dragon Ball Super. During the ball game between Universes 6 and 7, Beerus and Champa get into a brutal contention. While every other person rushes to cover up, Yamcha effectively overcomes the ki blast storm falling off of the two Gods of Destruction and dominates the match for Universe 7.
9.Chiaotzu Dies In Vain
Tumblr media
Chiaotzu and his dearest companion and dependable friend, Tien Shinhan, are noticeable characters in the first anime. In Dragon Ball Z, their jobs get fundamentally diminished, however, they actually find the opportunity to sparkle. During the Saiyan Saga, and after Nappa cuts off Tien’s left arm, Chiaotzu resorts above and beyond.
Locking himself to Nappa’s back, the white-colored Earthling turns into a living bomb. He imparts a genuine farewell to Tien and explodes, committing suicide. His penance is eventually for nothing, as Nappa rises up out of the destruction determined, further expanding the awfulness of Chiaotzu’s passing.
8.Tien Shinhan Stops Cell
Tumblr media
Tien Shinhan starts his bend as the main adversary to Goku and even faces against the Saiyan during the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. He has numerous important minutes during this time, including fighting Goku interestingly and bringing down Mercenary Tao with one hit.
Notwithstanding, his most huge second is likewise quite possibly the most underestimated in the anime. After Imperfect Cell routs Piccolo, he retains Android 17 and becomes Semi-Perfect Cell. Tien then, at that point holds him off by utilizing his Neo Tri-Beam, effectively keeping Cell from seeking after Android 18, for some time.
7.Krillin Marries Android 18
Tumblr media
Krillin is the establishment’s most grounded human. He demonstrates fundamental in a large number of the Z Fighter’s fights and demonstrates his value on various occasions, similar to when he battles Nappa and even figures out how to cut him. Krilin is additionally scandalous for continually kicking the bucket. For sure, a portion of his most popular scenes in the anime are his various passings on account of Frieza, Cell, and Android 17.
6.Piccolo Gives His Life For Gohan’s
Piccolo is one of the establishment’s generally captivating and complex characters. In the same way as other of Goku’s partners and companions, he begins as a threatening scalawag prior to vindicating himself. Piccolo then, at that point turns into a tutor figure for some individuals from the Z Fighters, most outstandingly Gohan.
During the Saiyan Saga, Nappa endeavors to kill Gohan with an amazing assault. Notwithstanding, Piccolo hops before the little youngster, ensuring him to the detriment of his own life. As he kicks the bucket, Piccolo says thanks to Gohan for making him gentler and even consider him a genuine companion. Piccolo and Gohan would share another genuine farewell in Dragon Ball GT, yet nothing beats the first.
5.Future Trunks Kills The Androids
Tumblr media
Future Trunks comes from an alternate timeline where Androids 17 and 18 killed the Z Fighters and decimated the Earth. Well-mannered, cautious, and somewhat shy, he travels to the past to warn Goku of the impending threat and deliver medication to save the Saiyan’s life.
Trunks eventually return to the past after spending considerable time with the present Z Fighters and helping them battle Cell. Back in his timeline, and more powerful than ever, he successfully kills the Androids, giving his world a much-needed break. He still has to deal with Cell, though, but three years would pass before he faced the green creature.
4.Gotenks Fights Majin Buu
Tumblr media
Kid Trunks is fundamentally not quite the same as his other future rendition. Both he and Goten are dear companions who frequently fall into difficulty. They are additionally amazingly incredible, fit for turning out to be Super Saiyan in spite of their young ages. During the Majin Buu adventure, the two effectively ace the combination strategy, turning into the extraordinary champion Gotenks.
Arrogant, pompous, and juvenile, Gotenks has an interesting and extraordinary fight with Super Buu. At a certain point, they even accomplish the Super Saiyan 3 phase. Gotenks additionally perform different strategies, similar to their brand name Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack, making for an immensely engaging battle.
3.Gohan Kills Cell
Tumblr media
Briefly, it appeared to be that Gohan would turn into the establishment’s new hero. After his extensive personal advancement all through the early scenes of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan at long last gets his time at the center of attention during the Cell adventure. He has a brutal fight against Perfect Cell, and with some assistance from Goku and Vegeta, Gohan releases an amazing Kamehameha that decimates the green scoundrel.
Gohan’s curve in the Majin Buu adventure is additionally very convincing, and his change into Ultimate Gohan is likewise extremely commendable and notorious. In any case, his loss of Cell stays the second that most fans best recall.
2.Vegeta’s Atonement
Tumblr media
Vegeta is the establishment’s definitive screw-up, a person so layered and convoluted that it’s difficult to characterize him as far as “great” and “wickedness.” Indeed, Vegeta submits contemptible activities all through Dragon Ball Z, however his person circular segment turns up at ground zero during the Majin Buu adventure.
After he enthusiastically permits himself to be adulterated by Babidi, Vegeta goes out of control, needing to incite Goku into a battle. The two then, at that point participate in a seething fight that finishes with Vegeta taking Goku out prior to taking off to confront Majin Buu alone. Subsequent to offering a genuine farewell to Trunks, Vegeta utilizes Final Explosion trying to stop the pink threat. His endeavors fall flat, however the location of his penance actually cuts chills down the spine of each Dragon Ball fan.
1.Goku Vs. Frieza
Tumblr media
Frieza is, apparently, Goku’s most prominent adversary. Their hotly anticipated and climactic struggle stays the longest fight in anime history, including the conflict between two of the most impressive creatures in the Dragon Ball universe, at that point, at any rate.
The fight has various setbacks, including Vegeta and Krilin. The actual battle is severe and non-halting, pushing the two members as far as possible. The fight arrives at an edge of boiling over when Frieza kills Krilin (once more). Irritated, Goku controls up and changes into the amazing Super Saiyan, at long last satisfying the antiquated prediction. The second is maybe the series’ generally notorious and amazing and probably the best accomplishment.

Lily’s Post about Mary Sues
Let’s analyze this.
None of those series you mentioned have characters that could be labelled as Mary Sues
Clark Kent, Goku, Luke, Anakin, Kirk.
Okay, a Mary Sue or Gary Stu has to be, basically, either an author avatar or stand-in, they tend to be beautiful or really handsome, have unusual, or dramatic backtories, are “chosen one” types, all of the main characters in the group will love them or admire them and those that don’t are always portrayed as in the wrong for not doing so, this kind of thing. They tend to be overpowered as well and they possess unique, special powers. They’ve basically overpowered, over-idealized, beloved by anybody and if you DON’T like them, you’re clearly in the wrong. Oh, and everything they do is treated as good, and if they DO screw up, hey, it’s no big deal. Any actual flaws are negligible or nonexistent. Like being “Naive” or wearing their heart on their sleeve.
Let’s take a look at...Superman. Well, he’s got several big weaknesses. Kryptonite, for one. And Magic. HUGELY weak against magic. He IS overpowered and he is mostly beloved by everyone...but he has made a LOT of mistakes. Especially when it comes to Batman. Whenever Batman is involved in a story with him, it’s Batman who’s right, and Superman who’s in the wrong. Pretty much all the time. “Darkseid is dead, Superman.” “You know what Bruce? You’re not always right!” But Batman WAS right, at least technically. Batman regularly beats Superman in several stories. So Clark isn’t always treated as right. On top of that, he does have some real character flaws of constantly being torn between wanting to do more and being afraid of how far he should go. And when you have GODLY strength, that’s a huge exploit, especially for supervillains. But...he does fill a lot of the Mary Sue tropes, so we’ll give Lily some credit.
Goku? Well Goku is a moron. The story always treats his stupidity as being a huge problem. One that CONTINUES to cause issues, and has even nearly gotten his world destroyed a few times. He’s even gotten himself and his friends KILLED cuz he couldn’t think of any other way but to sacrifice himself or the like. AND he has serious anger issues. When he’s furious, he’s almost uncontrollable. The only person more so is Vegeta. He’s also a pig who eats too much but we can sorta overlook that last one because being a glutton is played more for laughs and “He needs it to keep up his strength”.  How about his powers? Well he’s DEFINITELY overpowered. Is he handsome? Well, he looks pretty good. And he’s well-liked by pretty much the whole main cast except for, of course, the villains. So we could say...yeah. Goku’s kinda Mary Sue-ish.
Luke? Well...not really. Luke isn’t naturally gifted or talented like Goku or Superman were. Despite having the POTENTIAL to be great, his Jedi skills started out so poor he couldn’t even block blaster bolts using the force alone. He had to train for weeks if not months under Yoda just to get somewhat up to snuff and he STILL failed. “Don’t go into that cave with your weapons”. He goes in. Sees Darth Vader and...oh, wait, it’s HIMSELF he’s killed! You were put to the test and you failed. He can’t lift large objects with the Force. He’s reckless, he doesn’t think things through and he often has to rely on help from OTHERS to succeed. He only got that one-in-a-million shot on the Death Star because Obi Wan’s ghost spoke to him in his head to help guide him. He only got away from the first Death Star because Obi Wan sacrificed himself. Throughout the first two films, he’s just not good enough. He loses to Darth Vader MISERABLY, and he even loses his HAND. A real Mary Sue would have won, or at least held Darth Vader off, or tied. Worse still, he’s not just dangerously reckless and kind of whiny...he’s got a serious anger problem that rises up in the films, he almost outright gives in to the dark side. But other than that, he’s just some country bumpkin who happened to luck out at finding the right droid. All his powers, he basically earned, showing a classic heroes’s journey growth. So that, combined with the huge failures in the first few movies and even if we factor in the sequels and the stupid, dumb decisions he made...he’s not a Mary Sue. A Mary Sue wouldn’t f--k up that much. Or if they did, it wouldn’t be treated as his own fault, or as a bad thing. It’d be brushed off.
Anakin! OHHH boy. This guy is a whiny little brat. I don’t know if people realize this, but...Lily, NOBODY LIKED ANAKIN. Anakin was unlikable BECAUSE he was a Mary Sue. You DO realize this, right? He was overpowered, treated as the chosen one, and he was super whiny at that. But you know what? At least the story treated him doing awful stuff as the wrong thing. Him being reckless? A bad thing. He should listen to Obi Wan more. Him casually killing someone through the back in the Clone Wars? A bad thing, he could have just knocked the guy out or cut his arm or hand off, what he did was murder. Anakin murdering the entire tribe of Sand People that kidnapped his mom, leading to her death? Shown as a VERY bad thing because he slaughtered ALL of them, even women and children. Anakin becoming Sith and killing kids? SUPER bad thing.
So at the very least, him doing morally reprehensible things is treated as genuinely bad. At least the story calls him out on this.
Kirk? Uh, Kirk is just a random human. He’s not exactly super strong or super intelligent. He’s clever and he’s fairly skilled in combat, and he’s definitely good looking, but he’s no ‘chosen one’ like so many of the others. Has he got flaws? Yeah, he’s got a temper. And he  flagrantly disregards the rules. And he DEFINITELY is something of a skirt chaser. But he’s not exactly overpowered enough to be considered a Mary Sue. He hasn’t GOT enough powers at all to be counted as one. Plus, when you consider how he died? A real Mary Sue would get a far better and more dramatic death, if they died at all. So Kirk? Ahhh, not really. He’s not a Mary Sue. He’s just not powerful enough to be one and he’s no chosen one.
But your characters? Well, let’s see. Rey is a chosen one. So is Aliana. And Aliana is descended from a LONG LINE of superpowerful Sith. She’s basically “old money”. It runs in the blood. Pretty Mary Sue right there. They’re overpowered? Yep. Very. They easily beat the crap out of Kylo Ren. Do all the main characters like them? Yeah. And any that don’t are always treated as wrong, like Leia, or enemies, like Kylo Ren. They fit the definitions to a T.
can never be wrong
“So are a lot of characters in popular culture”
Except that’s not true. Superman, as I’ve shown, has been wrong quite a lot, especially when arguing against Batman, or Wonder Woman. Superman having to kill three Kryptonians who had did a literal genocide of an alternate Earth was portrayed as VERY wrong and it haunted him for years and years. Anakin was VERY, VERY wrong. The minute you do mass murder, you kinda instantly become wrong. Kirk ends up being very wrong in the final film he’s in. He doesn’t want to leave his heavenly alternate reality, it’s PICARD who has to convince him to stop being selfish. Goku is stupidly wrong when dealing with Cell, he really screws up and it gets his mentor and a few of his friends killed because he couldn’t think of a better way to get rid of the about-to-explode Cell than to teleport him to King Kai’s moon. He could have just teleported him, say, the serpent bridge, THEN teleported back if he really thought the explosion was gonna be so big it’d take out the entire world but...nope! Then there’s how he handled Majin Buu. He THINKS he doesn’t have to use fusion with his son. After all, Majin Buu has just lost a ton of power! He and his son can beat him normally...then Majin Buu catches him off guard and claims his son. Nice going, Goku, he was weak and instead of doing what everyone told you to do, you whiffed because you assumed you could handle it. And then there was his whole “Okay Vegeta, you finish off Frieza while he’s all Golden”. Big mistake. Frieza does a self-destructive attack that BLOWS UP THE ENTIRE WORLD and Whis has to literally TURN. BACK. TIME to fix this. Thanks, Goku. You COULDA just finished Frieza off like you did last time, but noooo! You had to indulge your friend’s ego. Luke? Luke’s been wrong a ton of times. Even if we ignore the sequels and the stupid way he handled Kylo Ren and hiding off on some podunk island, he ignored Yoda’s advice multiple times, he took off to fight Darth Vader, and he lost miserably.
Basically, every time these people do something wrong...it is, for the most part, TREATED as the wrong move by the story. That’s NOT the case for Aliana or Rey. Casually killing a guard for harassing a refugee? Cold blooded murder? Not portrayed as wrong. Overkill of guards at Canto Bight? Not even REMOTELY called out, nor the whole “mass forced suicide” thing. Killing Rey’s parents in cold blood when they were unarmed? Barely glanced over. What’s portrayed as wrong was keeping that a secret, not the MURDER thing. SHOOTING LEIA WITH ELECTRICITY? Not even REMOTELY treated as going too far.
are always victims
“Can’t imagine why a woman who suffers from PTSD writes characters who have suffered trauma in their lives. It’s a fucking mystery.”
You realize though this makes Aliana an author-avatar/stand in though, and that enforces the whole “she’s a Mary Sue” thing, right?
and bend the narrative to suit their needs
“If they were villains you wouldn’t complain about it this insessantly.”
But they’re NOT villains. When a story has a hero doing this, even when it has a villain doing this, that’s bad writing. Having Leia reasonably point out the fact that the Republic has every good reason to not trust a Sith and Aliana can’t just bully them into going along with everything she wants...and then having Aliana just SPONTANEOUSLY summon her own WAR FLEET to go “Sword of Damocles” on Leia and the Republic? That’s bad writing. It comes out of nowhere, no build up, and exists ONLY to tell Leia and anybody who has a problem with how Aliana’s doing things to SHUT UP I’M IN CHARGE. It’s bullying, bad writing.
Also, those other characters mentioned have other characters who will call out people like Luke or Kirk if they mess up. And Luke and Kirk or Goku will go “Yeah, you’re right, I should listen to you” and they have to change...or at least say they’ll try to. Does anybody in your story do that? Well...no. Because ANY objection to how Rey or Aliana does things is treated as BAD and WRONG because they’re the main characters, and thus everything they do is right, even if it’s morally repulsive and if ANOTHER character shot lightning at a middle-aged woman for a nasty comment, they’d be the bad guy.
Anyway, said my piece. Lily really has absolutely no self-reflection on this. She can’t handle actual criticism. All this is is DEFLECTION and PIVOTING away from your own story’s problems.  It’s very easy to crow about how popular your work is when you dismiss and delete all actual critique and criticism.

FEATURE: Where Are They Now? How Far Our Favorite Long-Running Anime Characters Have Come
Tumblr media
This article written by Carlos Cadorniga was originally published on December 30, 2020.
In many of our favorite long-running anime series, the main protagonists go through some immense change. Whether they’re driven by their lofty ambitions or a never-ending quest, they’ve each had their own humble beginnings and have since come so far on their own journeys. We’re continually inspired by these heroes, whether their stories are concluded, ongoing, or simply timeless.
In honor of some classic anime heroes, we’re taking a look back on their illustrious careers as ninja, pirates, Hunters, and Z-fighters alike. Let’s see just how far our favorite anime characters have come.
  Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)
Tumblr media
Where they started: As a social outcast and the host of a powerful beast, Naruto Uzumaki long dreamt of being the Hokage. His penchant for mischief masked a deep-seated longing for companionship, but he was stalwart in his dreams and was on his way to forming many strong friendships. What he lacked in knowledge and experience he made up for with plenty of grit and attitude as he learned and mastered advanced-level Jutsu at a young age. But even with one or two elite techniques under his belt, his journey to becoming Hokage would be far from easy.
Tumblr media
Where they are now: After burying the hatchet with his closest friend and rival and saving the whole world, Naruto has long since achieved his dream, having become the seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. He’s now married to Hinata Hyuuga with two children, a daughter named Himawari and a son named Boruto, who sets off on his own ninja adventures. He’s even reconciled with the demon living within him, who often joins Naruto in his fights to protect his village and his family. Though the focus has shifted toward his son, Naruto’s story still continues long after becoming Hokage.
   Son Goku (Dragon Ball series)
Tumblr media
  Image via Funimation
Where they started: After the death of his loving adoptive grandpa, Goku lived on his own for some time with a special charm to remember him by, a Four-Star Dragon Ball. Upon learning from his new friend Bulma that his grandpa’s keepsake is part of a set of seven artifacts that can grant any wish when collected, Goku heads out on a globe-spanning journey to retrieve them all. Along the way, he meets new friends, becomes more powerful, and comes closer to the truth of his mysterious origins.
Tumblr media
Where they are now: Among every candidate on this list, few have a history quite as large as Goku’s. While he’s still a loveable oaf who loves fighting as much as eating, he’s become a true savior after defeating incredible foes like Frieza and Kid Buu and continues to grow stronger as a fighter. From a Super Saiyan to Ultra Instinct, his increasing power level knows no bounds. As of the interdimensional Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super, he’s currently one of the strongest fighters in 12 dimensions. And to this day, he’s always looking to become even stronger than he was yesterday.
Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates (One Piece)
Tumblr media
Where they started: As the Great Pirate Era kicked off, the rubbery pirate Monkey D. Luffy embarks on his ambitious dream of becoming the next Pirate King, following in the footsteps of Red-Haired Shanks, a renowned pirate in his own right. The first time we meet Luffy is when he emerges from a barrel stowing away on an enemy ship while trying to set sail himself. With little to his name but a simple boat and a tiny ragtag pirate crew, they each enter into a brave new world of untold dangers in order to fulfill their own dreams. Luffy met each of his crewmates in dire straits, but each of their ambitions led them toward each other to form something great.
Tumblr media
Where they are now: As of today, the Straw Hats' quest to find the One Piece and achieve their goals still rages on. But so much has changed since then. The ship is bigger, the crew is stronger, and their captain’s power over Haki and mastery over his rubbery body has propelled him and the Straw Hats to infamy. The bounty on Luffy’s head alone is one of the largest in the world, and wherever the crew goes, revolutions and overthrown dictatorships follow. Currently, they find themselves on the Feudal Japanese island of Wano. Having recently broken out of prison, Luffy is gathering up his splintered crew to face off against Kaido, one of the Four Pirate Emperors residing over the isolated nation as a tyrant.
  Gon Freecss (Hunter x Hunter)
Tumblr media
Where they started: As an aspiring Hunter, Gon is unlike many of his fellow applicants in the treacherous and life-threatening Hunter’s Exam. When he begins his journey, he doesn’t aspire to be a noble hero for hire or to acquire riches, but he simply seeks to understand how being a Hunter is so fascinating that his own father would leave him for it. Having grown up on an island, his physical prowess and senses are well above average, and the Hunter’s Exam was the perfect place to put them to the test.
Where they are now: As of the final episode of the anime, Gon was able to meet up with his father. By the time he finally caught up with Ging, he'd undergone rigorous Nen training and faced all sorts of arduous and terrible trials. From the Phantom Troupe to the game world of Greed Island and the horror of the Chimera Ants, Gon experienced what it was like to be a Hunter from several different perspectives. Having overcome severe hardships and strife, he was able to hear directly from his father what being a Hunter meant to him, and why he was willing to sacrifice so much in order to do it.
  Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)
Tumblr media
Where they started: An infamous high school delinquent, Ichigo was born with the power to see the ghosts that frequently haunt his town. When his strange ability allows him to encounter Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, he learned of the existence of Hollows — malevolent spirits who attack the living and the dead alike. After Rukia was wounded defending Ichigo from one such monster, she transferred her powers over to him and made him into a Substitute Soul Reaper. Using his newfound and considerably immense power, he was charged with fighting Hollows in Rukia’s stead.
Tumblr media
Where they are now: Ichigo’s reputation throughout Bleach stretches far and wide. He rescued Rukia from execution, uncovered Sosuke Aizen’s conspiracy, became a Vizard in order to defeat the Arrancars, and even went so far as to sacrifice all of his Soul Reaper abilities in order to defeat Aizen.
When last we left him, Ichigo took on Xcution, a group of human outcasts with the spiritual power of Fullbring. Through these newfound abilities, Ichigo regained his Soul Reaper powers and was able to continue his work as a Substitute Soul Reaper. With the final arc of the manga receiving an adaptation in the future, the true conclusion to Ichigo’s story is nearly in sight. In the meantime, the world of Bleach continues in its spiritual successor, Burn the Witch, further expanding the universe of Soul Society.
Whether they've achieved their dreams, are still going strong, or their adventures are neverending, there's no doubt that so much has changed about our favorite anime heroes! Some changes have been for the better while others have resulted in life-altering traumas. Nevertheless, they've each gotten stronger and wiser after all these years. We'll certainly never stop cheering for them!
