“Karaaaaaa.”
The Kyrptonian rolled her eyes fondly at the sound of her name being raspily whined from the direction on their bedroom. Lena had been in a whiny mood ever since waking up and showed no signs of stopping.
“Yes love?” She called back, leaning back to take a peek into their bedroom. Kara couldn’t keep herself from giggling quietly, their bedroom door was wide open, so she was able to get a perfect view of her girlfriend who’d apparently decided to sit up and cocooned herself in their main blanket with only her face exposed - on which she wore a small, adorable pout.
“I’m cold…”
Kara chuckled softly, admiring Lena's adorable pout. She shuck her head in amusement, trying and failing to hold back a growing smile, “Oh really, is that so? Y’know with all those blankets you’re hiding in; I really couldn’t tell.”
“I’m being serious!” The CEO mumbled, moving to hide her face behind a blanket as she coughed raspily, her pout deepening in response, “Karaaaaaa, please? You’re the only thing that can warm me up right now.”
“Baby, I’m making you some food right now, you’ve gotta eat. I promise as soon as I’m done making you some delicious pancakes we can cuddle for as long as you want.”
“Please…?”
Oh, how could she deny that pout any longer? She couldn't resist Lena's adorable plea, her heart melting at the sight of her girlfriend wrapped up in blankets, looking so small and needy. With a soft sigh, she surrendered, "Alright, come here, you big baby."
Lena had her wrapped around her finger and she knew it. Kara already knew exactly what she wanted before she’d even asked.
“Come on, get on then.” She said, sitting down on the edge of their bed.
A small grin spread across Lena’s face as she crawled out of the big blanket bundle, swapping it for the thin grey blanket they usually kept at the end of their bed. Lena wrapped it around herself before turning back to wrap her legs around Kara’s waist whilst her hands wrapped around her upper torso to hold on with.
Of course, Kara had no problem carrying her like this and stood up effortlessly with Lena cuddling into her back, “Rao, you’re like a little koala, y’know that?” She teased, feeling her girlfriend’s head come to rest on her shoulder as they made their way back out to the kitchen. There was no doubt it was going to be a little harder to cook now that she had her girlfriend clutched onto her back but of course she’d find a way to make it work.
“You’re so lucky I love you.”
“I know.”

It wasn’t Kara that destroyed her.
In her secret heart, Lena craved that. She wanted Kara to give back everything Lena had thrown at her. Defeat her. Crush her. Cast her down and treat her like a villain. After all, why had Kara lied? Conspired? Tricked her and manipulated her? Why do all that if she wasn’t a villain?
In her quietest moments with Myriad in her hands or staring at the twisted visage of an alien murderer, a quiet voice from deep within her whispered the truth she could never let herself feel:
This is what you are. It’s in the blood.
If Kara would just treat her like a villain, it would all make sense. There would be no more nagging doubts, no more questions, no more hateful longing. Lena has done everything she could to carve it out of her chest, but it gave her no relief, only the raw throbbing pain of a ragged wound that wouldn’t close.
Then she had been at L-Corp when Jess ran into her office in a blind panic, shouting that she had to turn the television on now, that something terrible had happened.
Lena stared at her dumbly because she already knew. She could feel it somehow, a wash of graveyard chill that enveloped her from nowhere and froze the rotten lump where her heart had been. Her hand shook as she lifted the remote and turned on the screen.
The news chyron stuck her like a hammer blow to the chest and her pathetic excuse for a last meal -a cold half of a Big Belly burger she’d eaten the night before- leapt into her throat, trying to escape.
Supergirl Dead?
They hadn’t called her, and why would they? Why seek her help after all she’d done?
Lena pushed to her feet, almost tumbling to the floor in the process. The news was repeating a ten-second clip, showing a red-white beam slicing through the midday air, so bright that it distorted the image as it struck a tiny blue and red blur and knocked her out of the sky as if a giant hand had swatted her to the ground.
She was moving before she realized she’d taken a step.
“Cancel all my meetings,” Lena snapped.
“But the Japanese investors,” Jess said, lamely.
“Fuck the Japanese investors, cancel all my meetings!”
She pushed past Jess and stormed to her private elevator, twisting the key so hard it nearly snapped. She paced the full two minutes it took to to descend to the garage. There would be no summoning a driver. She ran barefoot across the parking garage floor to the Bugatti and threw herself inside.
When she arrived at the DEO, there was chaos. It took a moment before anyone noticed a barefoot, red-eyed Lena Luthor running into the lobby in a blind panic. When they did notice, she was immediately tackled by two of their goons and handcuffs slammed on her wrists.
“What the hell are you doing?” she demanded. “I’m here to help!”
“Shut up,” the agent growled.
They sent jolts of pain up her arms as they took her in. She thought they were going to take the handcuffs off, but instead they cuffed one hand to a chain locked to a ring in the middle of a concrete table in an interrogation room.
“What the hell?” Lena screamed. “I’m here to help her!”
The door slammed heavily shit and Lena raged, yanking at the handcuffs in a futile gesture that only left her wrist raw. She thought about trying to pick them, but at this rate they might shoot her if she looked to escape. Her stomach sank and she began to spiral.
She’s dead. She’s dead and they’re going to blame me.
Hot tears burned in her eyes and she willed them not to fall, holding them back with all her might, but it was inevitable.
Finally, after what felt like half a day, Alex walked in. Lena knew at once that something terrible had happened. Kara’s sister looked like hell, with dark circles under her eyes and a pained look. She regarded Lena as if she were some ugly thing that crawled out of a crack in the foundations.
“What are you doing here?” said Alex.
“I told your thugs, I’m here to help. You’re wasting time, I need to see her now.”
“Why,” Alex said, “why on God’s green earth would I let you anywhere near her?”
Lena blinked. “At least tell me what’s wrong. I might be able to…”
“You locked her in a kryptonite cage. You talked her into breaching her morals to carry out your sick schemes. You aimed a kryptonite cannon at her face.”
“I…”
“You what? You didn’t mean it?”
“Alex,” Lena began.
“Shut up. You had me fooled, Luthor. Kara always believed in you. I didn’t. I tried to convince her to be as afraid of her as I was. I just want to know, why now? She left you alone like you wanted. You’ve been quiet. Kara insisted we give you a chance and let you be, a choice I now deeply regret. So why now? What did she do to deserve this?”
The cold fury radiating from Alex choked Lena up for a moment. Her mouth worked silently.
“You think I did this?”
“Why not? You’ve hurt her twice already.”
“I didn’t. I would never. I didn’t want her to die. I just wanted to…”
“To what?”
Lena swallowed hard, speaking before thinking.
“I wanted her to feel what I was feeling.”
Alex’s eyes narrowed and her expression went dark and hard, something vicious twisting her lips. Her hand twitched towards the bulky alien gun on her hip.
With her other hand, she pulled out a phone and turned it to Lena.
Lena’s stomach flipped when she saw Lex’s grinning face.
“I hope you enjoy your new present,” he said into the camera. “A Kryptonite particle beam enhanced with a high-powered laser tuned to a wavelength that will instantly negate her powers.”
Lex’s grin widened.
“Lena sends her regards.”
Lena blinked a few times. She wanted to thrash, yank her chain, accuse, scream.
“That’s impossible.”
“Why, because you wouldn’t?”
“I killed him,” Lena breathed.
“What?”
“Lex. Lex is dead. I killed him. I killed him!” she was almost hysterical. “I put two shots in his chest and one in his head like he taught me himself. After he escaped last time I killed him.”
Alex’s expression faltered.
“You think I’ll believe that?” she said, but sounded unsure.
“When I was twelve and Lex was away at school, Lillian got drunk and threatened me. I was scared to death she meant it. Lex gave me our father’s gun and taught me to shoot.” A brief, weak smile cursed her lips. “I didn’t realize until a lot later how fucked up that is, but it’s one of my favorite memories of him.”
“You’re telling me you killed him,” said Alex. “After you went behind our backs and used the Hardin-El to heal his ‘cancer.’”
“He was my brother.”
“And you say you killed him.”
Lena looked down, away from her. Tears fell on the table with a soft patter and she choked back a hitching sob.
“She became his new fixation. He was never going to stop. I did what I had to do.”
Alex went silent. Her hand hung by her hip and part of Lena hoped she’d make it fast, the same part that flinched when Alex moved.
The key twisted in the lock and the cuffs ratcheted open. Alex gave her arm a sharp tug. “Get up.”
Lena wobbled to her feet.
“What are you doing?”
“Shut up and walk.”
Alex led her to the elevator, and down a corridor. Kara’s frail form lay behind a layer of plastic curtains, bathed in brilliant light from sunlamps.
“If she comes around,” Alex said, her voice flat. “You can never tell her. She’ll blame herself.”
Alex parted the curtains and led Lena inside. Kara lay n a stretcher with a layer of bandages wound around her bare torso, looking pale and drawn. Her skin shone with a cold sweat and there were dark circles around her eyes. She lay in a nest of wires and was on oxygen.
“My God,” Lena whispered.
“It was like he said. Some kind of particle beam combined with the laser. It’s like she was impaled through the chest with superheated Kryptonite. If Jon hadn’t caught her, the impact would have been fatal.”
Alex rattled it all off with a cold, medical detachment, except for the tension creaking in around the edges of her voice and the way her shoulder hitched.
“You’ve hurt her so much,” Alex whispered. “I don’t think I’m ever going to fully trust you again. But for the love of God, if you can fix her then fix her.”
“I will,” Lena said, the CEO creeping back into her voice. “I’ll need materials from my lab. I’ll give a Brainy a list. I’m not leaving her.”
Lena did not sleep for another thirty-six hours. She worked tirelessly alongside Brainy, who regarded her curiously as she hunched over lab benches and uploaded instructions to nanites.
Finally she said, “what? Why are you looking at me like that?”
He turned back to his own task without answering her.
An hour later, Alex stormed in.
“She’s getting worse. Whatever you’re doing, you have to hurry.”
Brainy turned from his lab bench and took Alex’s arm. He led her into the hall and they had a clipped, quiet conversation that Lena could not hear, except for Alex’s startled cry of “WHAT?”
It didn’t matter, she was finished. She took the devil in her hands and rushed through the door.
“Let’s go, we can’t waste anymore time.”
Alex openly gaped at her, then looked at Brainy. The expression of utter shock on her face arrested Lena in her tracks.
“What?”
“I,” Alex began, but Brainy grabbed her arm and squeezed hard.
“Let’s go,” said Alex.
Lena swept into the lab carrying the module in her hands as if it were made of precious gold.
“Turn off the sunlamps,” Lena ordered the technicians. “If the poisoning progresses, they’ll kill her faster than they heal her.”
Once they were off, Lena placed the device on Kara’s chest and stepped back.
Its sensors detected the Kryptonite and the system deployed. The pod unfolded like a delicate composite flower, and a wave of nanobots poured over Kara’s skin, instantly devouring and reprogramming the nanites in the wreckage of her suit while consuming the linens and bandages to grant the system more mass.
The entire process unfolded in seconds. It ensconced her in a protective layer and expanded, rapidly building an entire protective pod around her body. Dozens of tiny needles inserted dozens of cannulas into her arms and legs and began pumping her full of nanites, sending them storming through her bloodstream.
Lena bit her lip: there was nothing to do now except watch as the system’s AI administered rapid pulses of red and yellow light to balance the speed of her healing as the nanites in her bloodstream identified irradiated particles and consumed them, using them to make more of themselves.
She sat down. She knew this would take hours.
It ended up taking three days.
Lena slept in the side chair by the bed until someone brought her an uncomfortable recliner. Alex came in and out, as did Brainy and Nia, all of them looking at her oddly.
Finally the pod made a pleasant tone and unfolded. Kara lay on her side within, the nanites having formed a new suit top around her to preserve her modesty. She still wasn’t awake, but she was breathing normally and looked for all the world like her usual beautiful self. Lena was alone with her when it happened, and was glad of it. No one saw her brush the loose strands of gold from her face, and no one saw her rest her palm on Kara’s warm cheek.
They all piled on eventually.
Kara did not wake up.
“Why isn’t she coming around?” Alex demanded. “Why doesn’t she wake up?”
“She’s in a Kryptonian healing trance,” said Brainy. “It’s part of the healing process. She will wake when she is ready.”
“When the hell will that be?”
“We should give Lena the room.”
“What? Why?”
“Trust me,” Brainy said firmly.
Lean was as bewildered as Alex. What was she supposed to do?
When they were gone, she caught herself reflected in the monitors around the bed. She looked like shit, with barely one day’s sleep in four. As haggard as she looked, she didn’t care.
What the hell? It couldn’t hurt.
Lena bent over the bed, leaning on one hand, and took Kara’s in the other.
“I don’t know if you’re in there, but if you can hear me, it’s safe now. You can wake up. We’re all here for you. I’m here.”
It might have been the exhaustion, or the desperation, or the sorrow that filled her to bursting like a molten pain, but something happened and Lena let slip something that she’d held so tight she was sure her heart had long since crushed it.
“I love you, Kara. You don’t have to love me back. You don’t even have to like me. But I need you in the world. I need you. I need you, not Supergirl. I need Kara. I need my Kara. Please, if you’re in there at all,”
Kara’s eyes fluttered open. “Lena?”
“I’m here.”
Kara blinked a few times, and her hand closed gently around Lena’s.
“I had a bad dream,” she said. “It hurt so much, it felt like my heart was ripped out and I was in a dark place, and then I heard your voice leading me home.”
Lena grinned in spite of herself, tears stinging her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Kara. For everything.”
“Hush,” Kara whispered, her angelic voice full of quiet wisdom. “We can do that later. You’re tired. Lay down.”
Lena hesitated for a bare moment and then kicked off her shoes before climbing on next to her. Once she was lying down, sleep came crashing down on her like an avalanche as Kara threw an arm over her and tucked in close.
As she drifted off, Lena heard Alex, somewhere in the hall, snap, “Brainy, you knew this entire time?!”

Supercorp headcanon:
Lena’s sick.
Congested, nose running, fever high, chills, and a cough so severe that her throat burned with every breath.
She called out of work for the first time today. More accurately, she almost fainted getting out of bed this morning. When she called Jess to push back her first meeting, her secretary refused her access into L-Corp, its servers, or her work email.
After Lena accepted she would not be able to go to work (or her living room, for that matter) she laid in bed drifting in and out of sleep until a soft touch along her sweaty brow awoke her.
“Lena? Lee, baby, you’re burning up. You have to wake up.”
Lena stirs, mumbling incoherently before leaning into the warmth of her girlfriend’s hand. When she speaks, her voice is quiet and raspy. “Kar?”
“Yeah baby, it’s me. Jess called. She said you were sick, so I called in to work from home to take care of you.”
Bleary green eyes open, unfocused and searching. “Kar, I’m cold.”
The blonde is still stroking Lena’s warm brow, trying to persuade Lena into leaving the bed. “I know you feel cold, but you gotta get out of the bed. I need to change your sheets and you need to cool off. Come sit in the tub for a bit to lower your temperature.”
“Can’t walk.” Lena whispers.
“Don’t worry, I’ll carry you, okay?”
“Okay.”
“I’ll be right back,” Kara says, going to run a warm bath.
*************************
When Kara returns ten minutes later, Lena has drifted back to sleep. She looks so unwell, skin paler than normal with a green tint. She pulls back the covers slowly, not wanting to startle Lena. It seems she’s worried for nothing. The brunette doesn’t stir at all, not even when Kara sits her upright.
“Okay, baby, bath time.” Kara lifts Lena into her arms, carrying her to the bathroom. She sits her love on the cool counter, trying to rouse her.
The temperature change works minutely. Lena cracks her eyes open for a moment, humming to acknowledge Kara.
“Lena, open your eyes.” The blond says, tying dark tresses into a top knot to prevent it from getting wet.
“I’m going to put you in the tub, I need you to stay awake for 15 minutes, okay? I’m going to change the sheets and get you some fresh clothes.”
“‘Kay,” is Lena’s only reply.
Kara sets about undressing Lena, then lowering her gently into the lukewarm water.
Once she is assured the brunette won’t immediately fall asleep, Kara sets about putting fresh cotton sheets on the bed and finding a loose set of pajamas. She keeps her hearing trained on Lena, making sure she isn’t asleep or passed out.
With the few minutes she has left, she orders chicken noodle soup, several sandwiches, and sides from her favorite delivery that delivers.
Kara makes her way back into the bathroom, grabbing a fresh rag and Lena’s Milk Honey & Vanilla body wash. She sets about washing Lena’s red face, then apply a lather to her body before she uses the shower head to rinse her off.
“Okay, babe, all done. I’m going to get the towel, just a sec,” she gets the towel warm from the dryer and returns to pick Lena up, wrapping her in the towel and walking to the bedroom.
She sets her love on the bed, drying her off and preparing to dress her in the pajamas she laid out, which Lena promptly refuses to wear.
“Don’t want that. Want your shirt.”
“The one I’m wearing? I wore this to the office earlier—“
“No, in the closet. Bottom dresser,” she croaks.
Kara finds her old Midvale High gym tee amongst an assortment of lounge clothes in the aforementioned drawer. She chuckles, walking back to Lena and helping her into the shirt and a pair of cotton boy shorts.
“You stole my shirt? I’ve been looking for this,” she jokingly accuses.
“No. You left it. Mine now,” comes the raspy reply.
“Whatever you want, babe. Let’s sit on the couch a bit while we wait on the food.”
Kara carries Lena to the living room. Offering to make tea to sooth Lena’s sore throat. As she bends down to set Lena on the couch, she clings to her front like a koala, refusing to let go.
“No,” she whines, “don’t leave.”
“I’m not, I’m just putting the kettle on,” Kara soothes.
“No, carry me,” Lena pleads softly, glassy eyes begging.
Never one to deny her girlfriend anything, Kara tightens her hold and migrates into the kitchen. One arm holds Lena under her butt as the other navigates putting a pot of tea to boil.
The brunette has her head tucked into Kara’s shoulder, laying a kiss there before closing her eyes.
Kara presses a kiss to the side of her head. “It’s okay, princess. Just relax,” the blonde coos, stroking her hand along Lena’s spine.
Before long, Lena’s body has molded to Kara’s own, placid and limp. Kara remains standing, not wanting to jostle Lena by laying her on the couch. When the kettle whistles, Kara turns off the burner, pouring the tea into a thermos to keep warm for later.
Kara carries the thermos to the couch, setting it on the end table, then returning to grab a couple of water bottles and a mug.
Kara intends to let Lena sleep a little longer, but a knock at the door alerts her to the delivery man’s arrival. She lays Lena along the couch carefully, pressing a kiss to her brow before answering the door and paying for the food.
Kara gently urges Lena to wake, “C’mon, baby. Wake up; you have to eat something.”
“No,” she mewls, “don’t want it.”
“Lena, you have to eat so you can take some medicine. You’ll feel much better after. Just eat some soup and I’ll let you sleep.”
The brunette ends up drinking the soup broth and eating a few pieces of dumpling before she refuses anymore. Kara is able to coax her into drinking the ginger and chamomile tea.
“No more, sleepy,” the sick woman mutters, eyes drooping.
Kara sighs, stroking flyaways from Lena’s flushed cheeks. She deposits a tender kiss to Lena’s cheek and forehead before moving to stand.
“Sleep, baby. I’ll be here when you wake.”
“Wait, kiss.”
Kara lets out a soft laugh, pressing a short kiss to Lena’s lips. “Sleep, princess.”
And with that, Lena drifts off.

Training Day
Tumblr media
〖Summary: Alex takes care of Lena while Kara is away.〗
〖Word Count: 1k〗
〖Pairing: Alex x sick Lena (platonic)〗
〖Notes: Please forgive me for my very little knowledge of military training. I've been trying to write this for a very long time so I also apologize if it's a bit iffy in places but I do really hope you enjoy it. Also were not discussing the title, I don't have anything better in me today.〗
Lena huffed and crossed her arms, glaring down the short-haired DEO agent in front of her. She had been forced to wake up at the ungodly hour of five am to beat Alex in a fight. For some reason, the DEO decided that even a scientist would need to go through the same extensive training as the field agents.
It had started a few days ago and mirrored what she imagined Navy Seal training would be like plus a few extras directly on how to fight aliens. That included assembling special guns, a written test about which alien had which fighting styles as well as a basic course in how to treat different poisons the aliens might possess and which would kill you in an instant. These weren’t the only things but they were the ones she cared enough to remember.
The thing that had really gotten Lena was the mile swim. In what world would she need to swim a mile she had no idea but apparently, it was a requirement. She wasn’t a bad swimmer but she wasn’t fantastic either. She’d managed to complete the mile swim in just under the allotted time. The salt in the icy ocean clung to her clothes and hair making the experience all that much worse.
That was thankfully the only test of the day but it left Lena freezing, unable to warm up no matter what she did. The cold also reminded her of the scratchy throat she’d had for a few days and brought more attention to other symptoms that had remained milder. The barely sore throat quickly turned to something much more painful and it was like over the span of a few hours she had developed what she was sure would be an awful cold.
Her nose was running nonstop to the point where she had just decided to hold a tissue against it so that she didn’t have to keep throwing them away. Her head throbbed with every beat of her heart and she’d wrapped herself tightly in a soft blanket before falling asleep on the couch, her hair still wet.
None of that mattered. She couldn’t let it matter, there was just no time for that. She wasn’t sure when they would let her go through this training again. No matter how much she argued about her close combat skills she was still told that she needed to fight the second in command that of course being Alex.
It had been a long time since she’d squared up against such a well-trained opponent and knew that in her current state, there was simply no way that she’d win. Her goal was just to go for as long as she could before either her body gave out or Alex got bored. She was hoping for the latter which would save her some embarrassment.
So far that plan wasn’t working. Alex had pinned her four times, the rounds lasting only a few minutes each. The longest she’d managed to hold her own was five minutes and she knew that she’d need to prove she could last longer if she ever wanted to be officially allowed in the field. The field being her lab in the DEO.
“C’mon Luthor, let's go. One more then we break.” Alex ordered, raising her fists. Lena did the same, assuming a fighting stance. The world was swimming around her, making it difficult to keep her eyes focused on the brunette in front of her. She was trying to track Alex’s movements but the woman kept doubling and shifting, her movements glitching in and out of Lena’s view.
When the kick swept her legs she didn’t put her arms out to stop herself much to Alex’s surprise. The young CEO began to fall, her eyes wide and bewildered. Alex reached out quickly and grabbed Lena’s wrist, managing to catch the bit of skin that wasn’t covered by her sleeve.
Just by touching her wrist, she could tell that the heat was more than a normal higher temperature caused by exercise. Lena's skin was clammy and slick with sweat. As Alex examined her closer she noticed the red nose and hair stuck to her forehead with more sweat. Her friend was shivering hard, curling in on herself.
“Geez, you’re burning up.” Alex moved the back of her hand from Lena’s cheek and laid her palm against the shivering woman's forehead. The sleepy woman sniffled quietly and shrugged, not speaking. She was too tired to talk, there was just not enough energy in her body to pretend anymore.
“Alright. I’m going to take you home, did you bring a change of clothes?” She asked, wrapping an arm around Lena’s waist to take most of her weight. The younger Luthor sagged heavily against the agent, barely able to stand on trembling legs.
“No,” Lena answered, offering no further explanation. Alex rolled her eyes, smiling fondly down at the woman she assumed would be her future sister-in-law. She’d seen the box in the drawer of Kara’s bedside table and her sister had sworn her to secrecy.
“Okay. I’ll get you home soon, you won’t have to be in these clothes for very long. And, you’re showering as soon as we get back. You smell.” She teased, getting a little whimper from the woman leaning against her. With another eye-roll, Alex scooped Lena up so that she was carrying her bridal style.
“Why?” Her charge asked, not hesitating to rest her head on Alex’s shoulder. She was pretty sure that she had no other choice, her body was utterly devoid of strength.
“This is just easier Little Luthor. As soon as we get you settled I’m going to call Kara, alright?” Lena nodded, closing her eyes as she was carried out of the training room. She’d fought hard against this virus but for now, she was down for the count. At least she would have Alex there to look after her until the woman she loved got home.

My favourite
Advent day 9: You’re my favourite patient
Pairing: Sick Lena x Kara
Majorly unedited I apologise
Tumblr media
Kara presses a tender kiss to the top of Lena's head as she settles back against the pillows beneath her and lets out a soft sigh, her hand absentmindedly rising to comb through her girlfriends long, tangled tresses.
It was late, and after hours upon hours of back and forth from the toilet, the Luthor's stomach had finally settled enough to allow them both to get some much needed sleep. Lena in particular. The poor thing not only had a pretty severe case of the flu, but her stomach had also decided to join in on the fun too.
They'd both put that part down to food poisoning, which in itself was a pretty bad, and that combined with the flu courtesy of the current weather, it was safe to say Kara had never seen her so miserable.
Seeing her normally tough, independent girlfriend struggle to even walk hurt Kara more than she'd like to admit, and she wasn't ashamed to admit she couldn't wait for this to pass so they could continue with their normal.
A hoarse cough muffled against her chest was enough to bring her out of her thoughts, and she looks down to see Lena's face scrunched up in discomfort as she was forced out of whatever light sleep she'd managed to fall into. Kara pouts softly as she rests her hand on the bare skin of the woman back from where her shirt had ridden up, the pad of her thumb grazing over warm skin.
"You okay baby?" She murmurs, lips grazing Lena's forehead. Lena nods as she attempts to clear her throat, cheek settling back against Kara's chest as her hand rises to cling to the material of her shirt.
It was clear to see she wasn't, but Kara knows not to push. With a quiet hum, she tugs the blankets up a little more and makes sure Lena was as bundled up as she possibly could be. The soft exhale of content that emits from Lena's lips sends pleasant shiver up her spine, and Kara couldn't help but smile as continues with the gentle ministrations against her back.
Before Kara could even realise she'd fallen asleep, the morning sun was peeking in though the partially open curtains and waking her up. With a somewhat confused frown, she glances down at her watch and see's it was only six in the morning. Just three hours after she'd apparently fallen asleep. With a frown, she brings her attention down to the warm weight that still sprawled against her chest. Lena.
She was still sleeping somewhat peacefully, quiet snores that only ever appear when she was sick escaping her slightly parted lips. Her cheeks were still flushed red, and Kara gently rests the back of her fingers against one of them to gauge her temperature.
Warm, but not concerningly so. Kara knows it was probably because of her as opposed to an actual fever.
Due to the fact she was a krypton, her natural body temperature generally tended to sit a little higher than a humans does. Lena likes to call her her own personal space heater, and she had to admit there was definitely some truth to that. It was useful more than not also, but perhaps she'd have to refrain from being so close when Lena was sick.
With a soft sigh, Kara presses her lips against Lena's forehead. That action alone seems to unintentionally rouse the Luthor from her own slumber, and Kara watches as her eyes blearily flicker open.
"Morning baby," she greets in a quiet murmur, and Lena lets out a deep, hoarse cough that she muffles against Kara's shirt before sleepily returning the sentiment. "How are you feeling?" Kara reaches out and brushes a stray strand or hair out of Lena's face, thumb tenderly grazing over the soft skin of her cheek.
Lena smiles slightly, "Okay," she croaks out as she tugs the blankets sup to her chin, sounding so unlike herself. "I'm sorry about yesterday." She sheepishly smiles.
Kara frowns in confusion, "Why are you sorry?"
"For being so whiny? Needy? I don't know." Lena shrugs. "I just know I wasn't the easiest patient you've ever taken care of, so I'm sorry."
"Oh shush," Kara rolls her eyes. "you're sick. You're allowed to be whiny and needy. In fact, I love it when you are. It means that you trust me." She wraps her arms around Lena's slightly smaller frame and gives her a tight squeeze. In response, Lena nuzzles her nose against her neck and lets out a soft, content sigh. Kara automatically grins at the action.
"And besides," she adds after a few silent moments, earning herself a soft hum of acknowledgment from a still sleepy Lena. "you're my favourite patient."

I know i’m mad late but I can’t sleep so i’m going to finally post Maroon on Ao3 (i’m also thinking about making a pt.2 🤔) . Here’s a little excerpt.
Maroon—Supercorptober Sickfic
[TW: Abstract Harm/Abuse]
Each innocent victim of her brother’s machinations was another festering wound on her body, cut after cut, old and new, the dark crimson dripping the sin of her family down her ivory skin.
It tainted her.
She knows what awaits her if she leaves the safe haven of the Tower today. All the judgment, loathing and fury just waiting to be hurled her way.
Her brother's keeper.
It didn’t matter that she came up with the cure that saved them all from destruction. No, she is an easy target; visible and accessible, unlike Lex who was, once again, in the wind.
So they blame her.
They always do.
Over and over again.
***TW: End***
So she stays in the Tower like Rapunzel.
She is hunched over a microscope when the first sneeze comes at her fast as a speeding bullet, one of those that makes your nose all twitchy forcing you to look around for the dust that must be the cause.
The kind that makes you think it’s safe to go back to what you were doing because it was only one sneeze.
Until it wasn’t.

⚠️ And 🤔 for the WIPs game please!
hmmm so i am working on a number of wips atm. i think the one i’ll likely finish/post next is either a meddison (meredith grey/addison montgomery) one-shot. or my swan queen sickfic that is also a one-shot.
a fic that i want to write is my meddison hollywood au or my supercorp rift fic. sadly the muse has been fickle lately and i haven’t been able to write much of anything. thank you for the ask anon!

Kara To The Rescue
Tumblr media
〚 Notes - This was the Supercorp fic I wrote last night, just some prompts that Somber threw at me :) 〛
〚 Pairing - Supercorp 〛
〚 Summary - When stopping by to drop off some files it becomes clear to Kara that her girlfriend's working when miserably sick. Well, there's no way she's going to just let that slide. 〛
〚 Wordcount - 1880 〛
〘 Check Out My Masterlist! 〙
╚════════ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ════════╝
Words seemed to swirl and faze as the youngest Luthor sat at her desk squinting at the screen. She had never felt so awful before. The room felt like it was drifting drastically from blistering hot to shiveringly cold leaving the poor CEO’s body a wreck. Her once pristine desk was littered with damp, crumpled tissues and a plethora of disorganised files - certainly not the neat and sleekness that was associated with her.
The clicking of her keyboard and the sound of tissues being swiped from the quickly deplenishing box followed by a stuffy blow of her nose provided a certain ambiance to the room - whether it was a pleasant one, well that was a different issue. She was so wound up in her own world she barely registered the sound of her large door swinging open.
Kara, looking as gorgeous as ever, strolled happy as ever into the office, “Lena, I know its early for lunch yet, don’t worry. You forgot your files on the kitchen table, I thought you might need them-“
She stopped in her tracks, her happy expression changing as she took in the scene before her. “Goodness Lena, sweetie, what’s going on?” She asked, hurrying over to the desk where her sniffling girlfriend was leant over.
Lena didn’t even look up from her computer screen, the blue light reflecting on her pale and flushed face. She attempted a weak smile however, but it quickly faded into a grimace as a cough racked through her body. She winced and reached for another tissue, dabbing at her nose. “Hi Kara.”
“Nevermind ‘Hi’ Lena. Sweetheart you look awful.” She spilled worriedly coming round to press the back of her head to the Luthor’s forehead, a worried crease crinkling her brow as she felt the heat radiating from her.
Lena leaned into Kara's touch, the coolness of her hand providing a brief respite from the fever that consumed her. She closed her eyes, taking a moment to revel in the comfort Kara offered, before mustering the strength to respond, “It’s just a sniffle, nothing to worry about I promis- ‘scuse me-“ She quickly pulled out of her touch and ducked to the opposite side, loudly sneezing twice before turning back to her keyboard, much to the disapproval of the blonde Kryptonian.
“Is this why you left so early this morning Le’?” She continued, her touch coming to cup the sniffling Luthor’s chin, “I think our lunch date might need postponing, don’t you?”
“But- what about our plans?” Lena looked up at her pitifully, an expression of sadness and exhaustion plain on her face before shifting into a grimace as she hunched toward with a few raspy coughs.
Kara sighed as she walked over to the water cooled just outside Lena’s office, returning with a small cup of cool water, “Lena, honey, I mean in the nicest way possible, there’s no way that you’ll make it past lunch in your condition.” She murmured, handing her the water, “You sound terrible.”
“I’ve felt worse…”
Kara shook her head with a small smile, a mix of concern and amusement evident in her eyes. "You Luthor's and your stubbornness," she said affectionately, “You’re going to run yourself ragged if you continue like this. Lena, we both know I run warm, and you feel hot to me. That’s not good.”
“It’s fine. I just need to finish this Kara, it can’t wait.”
As Lena continued to type on her keyboard, she sniffled and rubbed at her nose, trying to suppress the urge to sneeze. She could feel the tickle growing stronger, but she was determined not to let Kara's concern deter her from her work. With her brows furrowed and jaw clenched, she tried to focus on the screen, but her efforts were in vain.
Her breath hitched, and she tilted her head slightly back, hoping to hold back the sneeze. Her eyes squinted as she fought against the sensation, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. She tried to inhale slowly through her mouth, hoping it would alleviate the need to sneeze, but it only delayed the inevitable.
Kara watched her girlfriend with a mix of amusement and concern, knowing exactly what Lena was doing.
She could see the struggle on Lena's face as she stubbornly resisted the urge to sneeze. Kara took a step closer, ready to offer a comforting hand on her back, but she didn't want to intrude on Lena's determination to carry on.
Suddenly, Lena's face scrunched up, and her breath hitched again. She couldn't hold it any longer. "Hih-hh..." she tried to stifle the sound, pressing her lips together tightly, but the sneeze was insistent.
Kara couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight of her stubborn girlfriend trying to resist the inevitable. "It's okay, Lena," she said soothingly, "Just let it out. Don’t torture yourself.”
Lena's eyes widened in defeat as her resistance crumbled, and her sneeze burst forth in full force. "HHu’tshh!" Her shoulders shook, and she leaned forward, quickly grabbing a tissue to cover her nose. Her sneeze was loud and forceful, leaving her feeling momentarily drained.
She blinked a few times, feeling a bit
embarrassed by her momentary vulnerability. "Sorry," she muttered, her voice thick with congestion before reaching over to grab a tissue only to be met with an empty box.
“You don’t need to apologise sweetheart.” Kara murmured as she left Lena’s side and began walking to the exit.
“Wait- Don’t go-“ The feverish CEO blurted out, quickly jumping up from her desk to catch the blonde’s hand. That sudden movement might’ve not been the brightest idea because it sent the room spinning around her and she clumsily stumbled forwards as she lost her balance.
Kara reacted quickly, wrapping her arms around Lena to steady her and keep her from falling. "Hey, hey, take it easy," she said gently, guiding Lena to the comfortable white sofa instead of her sleek black chair, “I wasn’t going anywhere, just going to find you some more tissues.” She said, nodding down the way Lena was rubbing her nose with the sleeve of her blouse.
Lena sniffled, still holding onto Kara’s hand, “I don’t need tissues, just you.”
“As cute as that is, I’ll have to respectfully disagree. But you’re more than welcome to have both.” Kara smiled, “We can get you home into our nice, soft bed. I can tell Alex to cover the DEO and you can have me all to yourself.” She offered, running her spare hand through her girlfriend's dark hair.
Lena leaned into Kara's touch, finding comfort in her presence. "That sounds nice," she admitted with a faint smile. "But there's so much work to be done, and I can't just abandon everything."
Kara sighed softly, understanding Lena's sense of responsibility but also not wanting her to push herself too hard. "Lena, you're running a fever, and you can barely keep your eyes open. It's not about abandoning your work; it's about taking care of yourself. You won't be able to do much in this state anyway, and you'll only make yourself worse."
Lena hesitated, torn between her dedication to her work and her desire to rest and recover. Kara's words sank in, and she realized that her stubbornness might be doing more harm than good.
"I hate feeling like this," she admitted softly, her voice sounding tired and defeated.
Kara leaned in to press a gentle kiss on Lena's forehead. "I know, love. But you don't have to face it alone. Let me take care of you," she said softly, her voice full of warmth and reassurance.
Lena looked into Kara's eyes, seeing the genuine concern and love reflected in them. She knew Kara was right, and she couldn't help but lean into her girlfriend's support.
"Okay," she finally relented. "But just for today, and then I'll get back to work tomorrow."
Kara smiled, relieved that Lena was willing to take care of herself for the day. "Deal. Now, let's get you home and into bed," she said, helping Lena up from the sofa and guiding her towards the door.  Of course, she had no intention of letting her go back to work tomorrow but just getting her home was important right now.
As Kara supported Lena, they made their way out of the office and towards Lena's car. Kara had insisted on driving Lena back to their apartment. During the drive, Lena leaned her head against the cool window, feeling the fever's grip on her exhausted body as she fought to stay awake.
Once they arrived at their apartment, Kara helped Lena inside and guided her to their bedroom. The room was dimly lit, and the soft, comforting scent of lavender filled the air. Kara had prepared the space to help Lena relax and rest.
"Here we are," Kara said softly, helping Lena settle onto the bed. She pulled the covers over her, tucking her in like a caring mother would do for her child. "You rest now, okay? I'll take care of everything."
Lena nodded weakly, feeling grateful for Kara's presence and care. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice hoarse.
Kara smiled gently, brushing a few strands of hair away from Lena's forehead. "It's my pleasure," she replied softly. "I'll make some soup for you, and you can take some medicine to help with the fever. Just relax and let your body heal."
As Kara went to the kitchen to prepare the soup, Lena closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the bed and the soothing atmosphere of their bedroom. She knew she was in good hands, and for the first time in a while, she allowed herself to surrender to her body's needs.
When Kara returned with a bowl of warm soup and a glass of water, she found Lena half-asleep. She set the tray down on the bedside table and sat next to Lena, gently caressing her cheek.
"Hey there," Kara said softly, waking Lena gently. "Time to eat some soup and take your medicine."
Lena opened her eyes and smiled weakly at Kara. "You're an angel, you know that?" she mumbled, her words slurring slightly due to the fatigue.
Kara chuckled softly. "Not an angel, just your girlfriend who loves you dearly," she said, helping Lena sit up and offering her the soup.
She ate almost half before pushing the bowl aside, earning herself a gentle smile, “Good job baby, thank you for eating. I know you’re not always up to it when you’re sick.”
Lena nodded slightly, feeling a mix of gratitude and vulnerability. "You always take care of me," she said softly, her voice filled with affection.
Kara leaned in to press a tender kiss on Lena's forehead. "And I always will," she whispered. "Rest now, and I'll be right here if you need anything."
As Lena settled back into the pillows, she reached out to hold Kara's hand. "Stay with me?" she asked, her eyes pleading.
Kara smiled warmly and squeezed Lena's hand. "Of course," she replied. "I'm not going anywhere."
With Kara by her side, she couldn't help but feel a warm sense of comfort and security. Lena closed her eyes, feeling the fatigue finally taking over, and soon drifted off to sleep, knowing that she was in the best hands possible.

It began with a sneeze.
Lena’s entire body tensed, pain wracking her sinuses, and she tried to tamp it down and swallow it. There was a room full of investors, and she paused mid-presentation. She held up a protesting hand, signaling that she needed no help, and waved off her assistants. Finally the feeling subsided and she soldiered on, accidentally repeating part of the presentation. It didn’t matter, it was just a formality.
After, she was sitting alone in her office and she did sneeze this time, hard, into a silk handkerchief. A dull ache had settled into her bones and she felt droopy, tired. Still, she had work to do. Not the work she wanted to do. Not running the company, not strategizing. Not inventing or innovating. It was menial. It was assigned. She worked for her brother.
It was his pretty revenge, because Lena shot him two times in the chest. Then a bunch of very strange shit happened and Lena suddenly found herself in an entirely different world where Lex had never died, even though they both remembered it. A hellish nightmare world where Lillian was a philanthropist and Kara and all her friends worked more or less for Lex, keeping aliens in check.
Lena couldn’t go to her best friend for help, because her best friend had betrayed her. Lena almost wished she’d been erased when the multiverse collapsed, replaced by a copy of herself who’d never felt this agony.
There was a truth she would never admit, even to herself.
She’d feel better if Kara was here.
The days dragged on and so did her cold. Except, it wasn’t a cold. On the third day she woke to a high fever, feeling a little wobbly when she forced herself out of bed. Her sinuses burned and she had to breathe through her mouth. When she took her temperature, it was elevated, close to being dangerous. Every muscle and joint on her body ached and the sight of food made her retch involuntarily.
Lena had the goddamn flu.
She did something she’d never done: by a curt email, she informed her staff that she was ill and would not be in the office today. Instead, she rummaged through her closet, her breath catching on a familiar sweatshirt.
It was a Midvale High School Mathletes sweater. It was Kara’s, but Lena knew with a certainty that Kara had not been in Lena’s penthouse since It Happened. There was no way for this to get here but…
She stifled a sob. This world had its own Lena, one whose life she’d appropriated or merged with or God knows what, and that Lena Kara’s clothes in her home. Lena kept stumbling across them and it hurt more every time.
Had they been happy, before? Kara must have spent the night. They must have been close. Lena had been close with her Kara; they hung out and Kara had slept over a few times but they weren’t really on your-clothes-in-my-closet terms. Had that been what happened here? Did they share the bed? Were they…
Did they…
Lena put it on, felt it shelter her body. She put in two pairs of leggings and hoped her laptop would warm her. She curled with it on the couch, and got exactly nothing done. After three hours she closed the computer and flipped channels until she found the old friend of the seriously ill and the chronically unemployed: reruns.
Curling on one end of the couch, she laid her head to rest on the arm and her eyes slid closed.
It seemed that as soon as she did, she opened them again. Her head was throbbing. She tried to push herself up, but it was too great an effort and she flopped down again. Her throat was dry and sticky, and unable to breathe through her nose, air came in reedy wheezes. Swallowing only made it worse, and she felt a rising panic.
Something beyond sleep, thick and heavy, was dragging her down, even as she struggled.
A chill night breeze rolled over her, and she shivered explosively.
"Easy now. I've got you."
Powerful arms lifted her limp body and carried her. Gently, Lena was laid on her bed and a blanket thrown over her.
She opened her eyes. Kara sat her up, cradling her in one arm as she held a glass in another, so Lena could drink. She let the cool water wet her throat and did her best to breathe again. Gently, Kara lowered her back down to rest and folded a cool, damp cloth on her forehead. Lena sighed in relief.
“Get out. Don’t want you here.”
“I’m sorry,” Kara whispered. “I can’t leave you alone like this. I’ll be right back.”
She was indeed right back, Supergirl walking into Lena’s budoir carrying a drug store bag full of medicine. She sat Lena up again and administered the foul tasting stuff over Lena’s protests, then shut off the lights.
Lena tried to roll on her side. It didn’t go well.
Kara knelt and slipped out of her boots. Then, she undid one side, then the other, and unclasped her cape from her shoulders. She then swept it over Lena and tucked it around her gently.
“Kara,” Lena muttered.
“Hush. It’s a blanket. It’ll keep you warm.”
Lena wasn’t sure what happened next, if she dreamed it or if it was real, but she felt the bed shift as Kara climbed aboard and laid down beside her.
Eventually, she woke up again. Kara was tucked against her back, one arm thrown protectively over Lena’s side, resting on her blanket cocoon. Kara snored lightly, lying on the bed so that her chin rested on the crown of Lena’s head.
Kara noticed she’d stirred and silently stood, offering Lena her next dose of syrupy, nasty medicine. She accepted it just as silently and laid back down to sleep.
The cycle continued. Day came. Kara didn’t leave her. She drew the curtains and laid on the bed beside Lena, never speaking, never making any demands.
Finally Lena was well enough to roll over and face her.
“Why are you here?”
“I heard Gillian’s Island coming from your living room and thought you must be in danger.”
Lena snorted in spite of herself.
Kara softened. Her big blue eyes, eyes that could launch a thousand ships, carried such a weight of sorrow that Lena felt a surge of pain and regret in her heart, wondering why in the hell they were feuding. No. She couldn’t do that. She couldn’t just…
“I’m sorry.”
Lena tucked herself into the blankets. She wanted to roll over, to turn away, to stop this before she did something she would regret later.
“I keep finding your things in my place,” Kara murmured. “It makes me wonder if it was different here. If we were different. What if I’d made other choices. If I’d been honest with you. Bolder.”
“You weren’t,” said Lena. “You aren’t. That’s the way it is. That door was closed.”
“When I landed on your balcony, it was open.”
“A mistake I won’t repeat. Careless. Thank you for helping me, but I didn’t need it. I don’t need you.”
Kara closed her eyes and sighed.
“I hate doing this.”
“Doing what?”
“You’re lying.”
Lena jerked back, as much as her aching body would allow, anyway.
“How do you know?”
It didn’t hit Lena that she hadn’t offered a denial, at least not until later.
“Easy,” Kara smiled. “I cheat. Skin conductivity and moisture levels. Heat bloom on your skin. Pulse. Pupil dilation. Breathing patterns.”
“I have the flu. That’s why.”
Kara frowned.
“You’re wearing my sweater.”
“It’s not yours. It’s hers. The lives we stole.”
Kara shook her head. “That’s not what he did. Your brother created this world to live out his fantasies and make me suffer. That’s why your things are at my place and mine at yours. It’s showing us the life we should have had,” a tear shone on Kara’s cheek, “had I not been a fuckup and a coward. If I’d trusted you.”
Lena choked back a small sob, and started to cough violently.
Without a word, Kara gathered her up and rested Lena’s head on her shoulder, walling her up in those beefy, protective arms of hers. Lena allowed it, curling her fingers against the twitching muscles of Kara’s back.
Lena wanted to pull away…
No. That was a lie, a miserable fucking lie. She didn’t want to pull back. She didn’t want to fight. She thought she had to, that she needed to.
“Don’t cry,” Kara said, tenderly brushing a tear from Lena’s cheek. “I know you’re furious with me. I know things are bad. I know your brother has power over us. It’ll get better. I won’t let him hurt you. I won’t let anyone hurt you. I promise.”
“You already hurt me.”
“I know,” Kara whimpered, her voice wobbling. “I’m sorry, Lena. I’ve never been more sorry about anything in my entire life. I wake up every day praying I can find some way to take it back."
"You can't."
Kara tensed.
"Maybe you don't have to," said Lena.
Kara's breath caught. She lowered Lena to the bed, and this time wrapped them in the blankets together. She was so warm.
"I've got you."
Blessedly, Lena slept.
Each time she woke, she felt better. Eventually, she was well enough for Kara to leave the bed. A few minutes later, Kara came back, and she brought breakfast. Her appetite back, Lena dug in, enjoying the tea Kara brought.
Kara took the tray and plates when she was done.
"You look a lot better."
Lena nodded. "Ah, yes, thank you."
Silence. There was a heavy pause, and then Kara sat down beside her on the bed.
"I wish I'd been brave before."
Lena looked at her, really looked at her, this enchanting vision looking at Lena like she hung all the stars in the sky, her eyes so full of longing that Lena felt she might fall into them forever.
"What would you do if you were brave?"
"This."
Warm fingers curled around Lena's chin. Kara leaned in, and Lena felt it happen even before their lips touched. When they did, it was electric. Lena felt the world spinning. Kara caught her and lowered her to the bed.
"I don't care about multiverses and cosmic entities and your evil brother. No matter what they throw at me, I will always find my way back to you. If you want me."
Lena pulled her down into another kiss, and that was her answer.

Lena sighed and listened to the rain pattering outside, letting the sound quell her anxiety about the upcoming interview with her favorite blonde reporter. The young genius did a wonderful job of disguising her true feelings, hiding her constant nerves behind a quick wit and confident demeanor but in reality, she was sort of a mess.
A mess who may or may not have been in love with a certain reporter who was now running five minutes late. Lena checked her watch for the fifth time in the last ten minutes, concern beginning to overcome her jitters. Kara was never late. Every other time she had come for an interview she was at least fifteen minutes early and brought coffee or doughnuts.
Now, Lena was well aware of her best friend’s “secret” identity, it had become pretty clear upon one of their first meetings in which Kara had claimed to have flown to her office on a bus. That was the beginning, then the dots had been pretty easy to connect. Glasses didn’t do much to hide one’s identity, especially after it had become clear.
It was a quiet understanding between them, Kara knew that Lena knew her secret but neither pushed the issue. Eventually, they’d need to have that conversation, but for now, the silence let them live in harmony.
The brunette sighed and glanced at her watch again, wondering if she should contact Alex to see where the woman was. She was getting legitimately worried.
Just as Lena was pulling out her phone to text both the blonde in question and her sister, the door cracked open and a sopping wet miserable-looking reporter poked her head in, water dripping from her hair onto her face and then onto her sopping clothes.
“H-hi Lena, s-s-sorry I’m late.” Kara practically whispered, her voice little more than a hoarse croak. Lena felt her jaw drop at the sight, but her shock was quickly replaced by a sense of urgency. She stood and walked to the blonde’s side, taking her best friend's freezing hands in hers.
“Oh Kara, what happened?” She asked gently, trying to decide what exactly she was going to do about the soaking, shivering woman.
“Got c-caught in the r-rain.” The blonde tried for a chuckle, but it came out as a chesty cough that seemed to take a lot of energy out of her. Those beautiful crystal blue eyes were dull and confused, her chapped nose running slightly. The poor thing looked awful.
“Yeah, I can see that. Come here, sit down. Let me get you some dry clothes.” She guided Kara over to the couch and sat her down, ignoring the woman’s protests that she was fine. Once she had the reporter sitting, Lena went back to her desk and pulled out a change of clothes and a towel, things she kept in her office just in case she was forced to stay the night on the couch. She was the first person to tell you that sleeping in a pencil skirt was not comfortable.
“Okay, go dry off and get changed. Then I’m taking you home,” she said, gesturing towards the bathroom branching off of her office. It was a very nice bathroom, complete with a shower which didn’t get used very often. She would have offered to let Kara use it but the likelihood that the woman would accept was so low she figured that it would be better just not to bother.
“Lena, the i-interview,” Kara replied, her brow furrowing as she talked. That notorious ‘crinkle’ emerged and Lena almost smiled, she probably would have if not for her worry for her friend.
“No. You’re sick, you’re going to change and I’m taking you home.” Lena replied, not letting her get any further. Of course, the blonde was stubborn. It wasn’t going to be quite so easy.
Kara wrinkled her nose and crossed her arms over her chest, getting to her feet. The CEO went rigid, waiting for the woman to fall as she prepared to drop the clothes and catch her. Thankfully, although the blonde’s face when stark white, well, whiter than it already was, she remained on her feet.
“I’m fine.” Lena reached over and touched her forehead, astonished at the heat waves being thrown from the woman’s skin. All logic would say that she should be cold as ice after being out for so long in the rain.
"No, you're not fine. You're burning up.” She argued, tucking a piece of her dripping blonde hair behind her ear. The alien shivered a bit but didn’t move, not willing to back down.
“Everyone gets colds, I-I’ll live,” Kara said, sounding unsure. There was a glint in her eyes that screamed panic but they both knew that she wasn’t going to say anything.
Lena tilted her head to the side slightly, squinting at her friend as she tried to decide how best to approach this situation. She decided that for now, a blunt approach would be best.
“Okay. We both know that isn’t true, you don’t get sick unless you solar flare and this is worse than a cold. Go get changed, when we get back to your place you can shower to warm up a little, but this will have to do for now.”
Kara looked a bit stunned as she realized that Lena knew about the Supergirl thing. The brunette sort of brushed it off as if it was nothing and took a step forward to grab one of the ill woman’s hands. They would have to discuss everything later when Kara was feeling better.
“Come on, please Kara. If you can get sick you can get hypothermia. You’re shivering. I’ll even dry your hair if you want.” Her tone was softer now, her posture radiating loving concern. She watched as Kara’s walls broke down and she hunched in on herself, sneezing towards her chest. It was followed by another fit of lung-rattling coughs that made Lena worry about bronchitis, or worse, pneumonia.
“But Snapper…” She trailed off, running out of arguments. Being home and warm with Lena to take care of her sounded so nice, she was wondering if the brunette would be willing to cuddle. She needed a hug.
“I’ll deal with him. Go.”
Kara begrudgingly took the clothes and walked into the bathroom which, if she wasn’t so sick, she would have had to admire. It was a nice bathroom. She set the clothes on the toilet lid and began to dry her hair and body, sneezing twice before she was finished.
The blonde then quickly pulled on the fresh set of clothes, taking a moment to bury her face in the soft, nice-smelling fabric. She was grateful that her nose wasn’t too stuffy to smell Lena’s clean perfume, the smell bringing her a sense of comfort.
She padded out of the bathroom in just socks, surprised to see her best friend waiting with a pair of booths and a large raincoat.
“My driver is waiting right outside; we shouldn’t be in the rain for too long. Put this stuff on and we’ll get you home.” Kara obeyed wordlessly, too tired to argue or even thank the CEO. That didn’t bother Lena at all, she was just relieved to see that the blonde was accepting her help.
Once Kara was bundled up in the knee-length raincoat and what could’ve passed as snow boots the younger woman pulled on her coat before doing one final mental sweep of the office. Nothing needed to be done, everything was ready.
“Shall we?” she asked, holding out a hand for Kara to take. The blonde accepted and allowed herself to be half dragged from the building, stumbling over her feet in her dizzy haze. Even though she was slightly off balance, she wasn’t worried about it. Lena would keep her from falling.
