his share code is YCNKBA! the music used is Recollection -- Light and Shadow of the Film Studio. I thought it had a nice, contemplative feel, between Suspense, which was too intense for the scene, and Heartbroken Maya, which was too sad. the wwx/jc/lwj reunion scene is truly sososo interesting in every adaptation.

Big Media’s lobbyists have been running a smear campaign trying to paint the Internet Archive as a greedy big tech operation bent on stealing books—which is totally absurd. If you’ve ever used the WayBack Machine, listened to their wonderful archives of live music, or checked out one of their 37 million texts, it’s time to speak up. With publishing revenues approaching 30 billion per year in the US and monopolistic consolidation among publishing corporations, the publishing industry is incredibly powerful and moves aggressively to silence dissent.
The Internet Archive’s determination to keep fighting is a big deal!
Here are ways to support:
Sign the petition above.
Join 25+ major civil and human rights organizations in calling for a congressional investigation into surveillance and erasure in digital books—efforts that the Internet Archive is actively fighting against—at https://www.battleforlibraries.com/congress/
Sign the Internet Archive’s petition calling on publishers to restore 500,000 books that have been removed from the Archive due to the lawsuit: http://letreadersread.com/
Share your story about how having half a million books removed from the Internet Archive has impacted your reading or research—either on X or via this form.
Post about why you love the Internet Archive and give them a tag. Please share with your community why this institution is important to you. Use the hashtag #DigitalRightsForLibraries!
Invite your friends here, to BattleForLibraries.com, and ask them to sign the petition, too!
Help spread the word! Click on any of the images below to download and set as a temporary profile picture.

Look who's here!!! My first working Furby Baby, haven't decided on a name yet but I have a good list of ideas that keeps growing!
Popped some mixed batteries in since I needed to hear them!!! My partner and I were both SO enthused by this lil thing!! Also I did not realize how SMALL furby babies are??? I had the 2005s growing up so this was a size shock, and I love that they fit so nice in my hand!!!
I'm going to have my partner bring home a fresh pack of batteries after he gets done with work tonight, in the meantime I've found the furby babies manual on the internet archive and I'm going to properly prepare on understanding my new child 🥹

Join me and take action in the Battle for Libraries
As you may know, I am a passionate lover of the Internet Archive. Through 2020, I ran a section on my ephemera blog where I talked about hits from the Wayback Machine; I am a contributor myself, to the extent that my free time allows; even a lot of the music I play on streams is from there.
Yesterday, the worst happened: the future of 4 million digital books on the Internet Archive is now at stake, as well as libraries everywhere in the USA. I learned that the methods being targeted in this lawsuit (CDL, Controlled Digital Lending) are not just unique to the Internet Archive, but apply to the way even libraries like the fucking Boston Public Library, one of the largest libraries in the United States. This is a threat to public libraries and accessibility. The alternative we are expected to follow is book bans.

How can I help?
Donate if you have the money, obviously. But I know that's hard.
Sign the petition and sign up for email updates at Battle for Libraries. Not just a change.org petition but an established group that is working on organizing rallies.
They have some freebie graphics you can put on your posts (above). I don't see the harm in it.
Subscribe to the Empowering Libraries newsletter.
Support your local library. Even just going there when you can counts, they need the numbers! Check out books, look at their equipment if they have a makerspace.
Now's a good time to make personal backups of things that you could not live without. There's no real hope of an Internet Archive Archive (more on why it's more difficult than you think), but decentralized backups are always a good thing.
Don't just take it for me. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!
How to argue with "But piracy..."
First off, don't argue with trolls. But if you have an acquaintance who really doesn't get it, here's some resources.
Bandcamp's stance on piracy: "It’s not like they’d slap their forehead and open their wallet. Instead, they’d just move on to some other site where those restrictions aren’t in place."
"But if they steal it – how can I make money?"
Small Publisher Embraces Controlled Digital Lending to Connect with New Readers: "I think in the end, it drives sales because you are finding readers you wouldn’t normally have. Those readers aren’t getting a copy that they keep forever — it’s a copy that’s going to lead them to want to own it."
In the hopefully-near future I will be publishing a list of online library catalogues; coincidentally, I was reading a decade-old book about digital libraries, so I've got a ton of links for you guys.

'oh but i missed out of playing those [cool games] as a child so sad i never got the chance' you didn't 'miss out' getting to experience a game now rather than then is still fine, you can acknowledge that things might've hit better when you were yonger but you have more access to this shit as an adult than as a child. emulation is beautiful you can play nearly anything

Battle for Libraries
Today (3/24/23), Hachette v. Internet Archive was decided in favor of the publishers. This is a huge blow to the integrity of digital lending libraries across the country, and it is crucial that the Internet Archive wins its case if it makes it to the supreme court.
Libraries are a vastly misunderstood and vital resource, even (and especially) in the digital age. For centuries, public libraries have provided patrons with access to information regardless of economic standing, and as corporate greed causes paywalls and subscription services to rise in prominence, digital libraries are more important than ever for our minds and our democracy. In a profit-motivated world, public libraries are our saving grace.
Here’s how you can help:
Petition:
https://www.battleforlibraries.com/
Supporting your local library:
Libraries are very local, so I won’t post a donate link for any specific library. Instead, I encourage you to ask a librarian what you can do to support your local library. This may be in the form of volunteer work or a book donation, depending on your library’s needs :)
Have a library card, but can’t find time to get to the library? Find out if your library uses Libby! Libby is a free app that allows you to borrow e-books, audiobooks, and magazines from your local library. You get to read digital books for free, and you can support your library at the same time!

y'all know how much i love libraries and so i cannot stand this absolute BULLSHIT suit on the Internet Archive
Basically, publishing companies are saying that libraries can't scan the books THAT THEY OWN and rent them out digitally. Instead, they have to rent out digital versions of books that THEY ALREADY HAVE from said publishing companies for RIDICULOUS PRICES just so they can digitally share a book that they have.
the worst part of this renting system is not only that it costs libraries tons of money that they don't have because of underfunding, but also it means that publishers can track what books you read and use that as advertising data or legal prosecution. Imagine you going to check out a book on abortion or trans healthcare, then you get monitored for breaking pro-life or anti-trans healthcare laws from your state!
another thing this renting system lets happen is the publisher removing books whenever they want despite people still reading them. just, whenever they want
this lawsuit is so blatantly capitalistic and against EVERYTHING libraries stand for, it's ridiculous
here's how you can support libraries:
go to this website! there, you can sign a petition and learn more about not only the lawsuit, but how to help against anti-privacy and censorship
you can also help by spreading the word! either by rebloging this post or telling people about it irl, we need people to know about this stuff
you deserve knowledge! you deserve the right to read books and not be monitored by the state or private companies for it!

ideas: i didn't really think of him being underwater but they deserve to have drama by crying there too so i just think you could say something about the composition being denser than water or w/e. proteins
i'm always like good thing he didn't try to exit asap via swimming in ciao alberto But What If He Did lol. just swim Somewhere else along the coast, maybe panic about [money??] & whether somehow this ruins school for luca, whether he can get in touch w/o it being On Sight b/w him & all marcovaldos, consider just kind of trying out other places, traveling after all...fascinating considering the other povs on the issue like: now there's the paguros to sympathize w/a kid vanishing, luca however in a somewhat more novel position there, giulia's throwback to alberto being a bit perplexing lmao, kind of thinking the best massimo could do is have a prewritten letter for luca to give to alberto If Possible, conveying something like i know you didn't set my livelihood on fire on purpose but even if you did i'd want you to stay. and luca in a position to do all of "maybe give the island fun facts so someone can check if he's there" & "wait & hope alberto can/does get in touch" & "have a lot of feelings"....not even the context of what this drawing is about necessarily, just tacking it on here anyways. ahead of time i went "heh now i Know they're gonna have it get little Real here b/c it's really about alberto wanting the security of feeling he can 'earn' a sustained relationship" then the short cleared & i was lying completely dead on the pavement
#luca 2021#pixar luca#alberto scorfano#love when like ''yeah ofc you Could guess approx what would happen; b/c of The Themes & things following them''#but then like of course it still manages to Surprise. feels apt when like ppl doing some savvy media analysis can Guess along w/the film#like oh we're gonna fight here we might have our secret revealed here yep. then get caught off guard by alberto but 110% surprised by luca#even as ofc it all makes sense & is cohesive w/those Themes that have been unfolding; not just breaking w/the material to Surprise us#but still unpredictable. the whole movie being so vignettey (god bless. i live) allowing for a lot of that too like just Stuff Can Happen#someone can guess alberto's dad is not in the picture really but you could think oh he's been killed by humans. No lol...#or massimo lost an arm to sea monsters. but no. oh my god & this is how i realize i didn't draw alberto's arm scar hang on lol#okay there it is. here we go gays (me turning in for some rest at 8:15 am)#oh i read this picture book in the internet archive abt like A Parent Expressing Unconditional Love via conversation w/a child. hang on#''even if i did something awful'' by barbara shook hazen; i did think of it here. let me obtain a quote for effect...#[but what if i did something really truly awful?] [like what?] [like playing ball in the living room after you told me not to & breaking#the vase daddy gave you for your birthday even if i didn't mean to & it was an accident? would you still love me then?]#[i love you so much i'd love you if you Did mean to & it wasn't an accident. / but i might also be mad & yell things like 'i've told you a#thousand times!' & 'this is the last straw!' & 'i've had it with your disobeying!' & send you to your room with no dessert... / ...& cry a#little & pick up the pieces.] [i'll help.] [but i still love you no matter what; no matter how mad; no matter how awful. & i always will.]#so long as it's commitment to Actual support which; massimo already On That even before realizing like oh bereft And you're of the sea.....

torn between "archive of our own is host to some truly vile and downright traumatizing shit including but not limited to romanticized depictions of racism pedophilia incest and abuse and the moderation does nothing about it and every asshole with that websites dick down their throat is really annoying about "censorship" because theyve been called out for jerking off to written CSEM and so honestly i would be glad if it went away" and "archive of our own is like the only dedicated place where any old layperson can put their written fanworks without having to learn an entire coding language and put together their own website and a lot of just regular people who havent been sucked into the horrific throes of fandom discourse who just like to read or write fanfiction once in a while are going to lose out on a good space to share it with others"
