While doing this, I did some research on water striders and found out that they have a really fascinating (and a tad disturbing) strategy for mating. Female water striders have a genital shield so basically they can stop any sexual advances from males if they don’t want to pair with the one trying to initiate— however, males figured out how to get around that. Basically, since when a male mounts a female it comes from above, the female will be more susceptible to attacks from below in the water. The male will tap the surface of the water, intentionally trying to draw predators, and since the female is on the water, she will be more likely to be harmed if a fish or whatnot tries to attack. The more you know.

Anyway, I spend most of the afternoon making this fella 😭

thinking about no place... the thing about it is the name has to be a lie. like it just has to be wrong. and it already is canonically wrong. technically. cuz there was that little island sonic landed on initially. and that rocky outcropping with the paradox prism shard. but aside from that, the pirate ships couldn't exist if there was no land. because where the hell did the wood come from then?

thinking about how giorno is a big ole nature nerd. he loves bugs. he loves scary animals nature found fun to create. giorno doesn’t shy away from mosquitos and roaches, he may not adore them, but he definitely finds beauty and things to be fascinated about them. the way a lizard will shoot it’s own blood, how they’ll detach their limbs, how they’ve grown to endure and thrive in insane heat. he’s the type of guy to pick up a garden snake so gently it doesn’t dare attack him. his charisma extends past just people. giorno will see a bunny caught in a snare trap and it’ll stay still for him to free it, and then it’ll stare at him with wide eyes while sniffing. animals and bugs stare at him with the same adoration that he stares at them with. he treasures life in all its manifestations and that’s why his stand has the power it does. that’s why giorno has such strong dreams and determination, why he fights so hard against everything unjust he’s ever faced. giorno is someone who appreciates life in all its forms. from the petals of carnations to the fly a frog has grabbed with its tongue. it captivates and intrigues him to no end, and he’ll never be shamed out of loving nature by anyone
