Listen, I'm sorry to the people who draw Veils in torn/bloody robes because of the whole Vake thing but you're simply wrong. Do you think Veils would Ever go out like that. Do you think it doesn't have fifteen changes of clothes ready immediately, with options depending on the day and occasion, to climb into when it comes back from killing things. Of course it does. Veils is getting home, taking a shower in the Bazaar, putting on a new perfectly clean robe with accent panels and silk trim, and then dabbing 1 (one) tasteful bloodstain on the hem of it with a claw because it's arrogant and it thinks it can get away with it. What is a Veils if it's not serving cunt. Of course it is.
#Fallen London#Mr Veils#BaL spoilers#i do love veils it's awful. i love it as the interpretation of a beast unchained and a wild thing resenting its constraints#and that's the most common interpretation of it i tend to see#but Also it is a politician. so so so clearly. it covers up its crimes with spotless cufflinks and talks the blood away#it's spent hundreds of years swaying who it wants and killing who it wants in kind#the apparent clashing of its domains is funny sometimes but also to me it makes perfect sense#fashion and violence. look elevated enough and anyone will believe you. kill ruthlessly enough and the ones who don't don't matter#it's the perfect cover#it's also why in spite of seeing some relatability in its moments of straining for freedom Hallowrove doesn't regret killing it#if it were just a beast following its instincts out of control that would be one thing#if it were even a consicous thing bringing anything to ruin it could as revenge for being trapped that's another#but it just so clearly enjoys having power over things. and using that power to crush#and the manipulation beforehand#...hm. makes me wonder if the feelings in the early vake dreams were genuine#or if it constructed the rush to lure the player further into hunting it#.... you know what i think it was genuine actually. and i think it still doesn't matter.#sorry for bag a legend rambling on the funny poast i just think about it a lot still#in spite of finishing more than a year ago

it’s kotoko the fictional character implying those things are moral failings rather than the staff. french translation team decided she seems like someone who would use slurs, the tls have never been identical but they often reinforce different parts of the same information, and she was very hateful in the original japanese
It's not. Those were never in the text. There's a difference between a character using slurs and the translation team adding a slur and questionable language out of nowhere.
They aren't the same information as both the Japanese and English version. They add subtext that were never there, confirm things that aren't confirmed for Kazui. Even the Mikoto part has its importance as she's mocking his self-pity schtick, not the fact that he's mentally ill.
Translation is a job. You're required to keep the original intention and meaning. I've seen localization do that better than what is supposed to be a direct translation.

I remember the plot of a novel, but that doesn't mean it's real
#the entire criticisms...were not fueled by right wingers complaining about diversity pre-release#there were genuine quality problems with the game where some aspects were very much subpar and indicated they just hadn't finished the game#I agree the wider player community took this too far as to cover their eyes and say 'andromeda is completely terrible! the worst game ever!#but the criticisms were very valid and important to point out to try and fight against us being fed unfinished broken products#that people pay $60+ for#EA though - not bioware - then took that as meaning 'people don't like mass effect anymore' 'people don't like this game at all'#'continuing to fund this won't be profitable enough'#and cancelled the thing. Rather than having the quality issues completely corrected and making sure quality is better ensured#and studios aren't rushed by strict deadlines so they keep releasing games before they're done#this is the first I've even heard about right wingers making a stink about diversity#those little bitches do it about everything - that's not going to sway an entire games journalism community#especially since andromeda really isn't any more diverse than the other mass effect games

I’m officially going back to work on Saturday <3
#just a two hour lunch cover. just to see if my knee can handle it or will try to kill me for standing for that long#but it feels like a big step. it feels massive to trust my knee like that again#gotta make sure i do all my exercises between now & then lol to make sure it’s as strong as it needs to be#but god i hate doing squats. i haaaate iiiiiittttttt#i hate doing the lateral band walk even more though. can i tell you a secret? i’ve skipped it the past couple of days#just couldn’t handle it on top of my lunges and my squats and standing on one knee on top of a pillow and swaying side to side to shift#my balance from leg to leg……. and the towel thing which is supposed to be strengthening my shitty vmo#and i thought the calf stretch was bad. BRO. i do the calf stretch ~240 times a day now. 120 per leg#the other night i woke up with one of those really bad cramps in my calf and i did the calf stretch and it went away#anyway. if anyone has any advice for doing squats when it feels like your kneecap may fall off if you do a squat; let me know#also let me know if you have any advice for doing a job where you have to stand and walk and stuff the whole time. and your knee feels like#it’s going to fall off. i am kind of freaking out ngl#i think i’m just going to dose myself up on painkillers; wear my brace and just do it#for god’s sake the assistant manager literally needs a knee replacement and she proceeds. i don’t need a knee replacement. i must be fine#personal
