Why I'm voting for Circ to win the syscourse brackets:

They are one of the most educated syscoursers. It's cool to see well thought out and researched posts from them.

They are good at helping others in the tag and bring some levity when it's needed.

They help people to better accept and cope with the symptoms of their disorders.

They know when to take a break when it's needed and help others to do the same.

They are so freaking strong to survive what's thrown at them and I admire that.

And of course last but not least because they are a friend to so many :)

I made this as a comment for freezingcoldsystemtakes winning the syscourse brackets and figured it warrants its own post.

Guys the point of syscourse was never to have genuine discussions.

The original blog of the coiner of the term syscourse is still up and if you look at the oldest posts from 2016 it's like yeah, it is pretty much just focused on validity and who can use what term. The point of it about fakeclaiming and gatekeeping from the start, not actual debate.

There are better methods to go for and better ways for systems to talk about and share their experiences. The plural community on all sides has such an issue with people feeling too unsafe to share their experiences outside of fluff like microlabel coining or standing behind textbook definitions. We're in the same boat where we don't feel safe either because of how common syscourse is. Syscourse completely obscured decades of community history and completely set back self advocacy.

We use the syscourse tags for discourse topics, but when it comes to our actual posts talking about our experiences or genuine discussion posts, we don't tag those as syscourse because our experiences and others experiences shouldn't be up for debate by default. If anything some of us would tag it out of spite.

People don't say this type of stuff about ace discourse, kin discourse, and any other Tumblr discourse. Those similarly had massive negative impacts on the community. With syscourse there's a reason why so many systems hate the concept and hate syscoursers, and I think that's one of the reasons why freezingcoldsystemtakes won.

To Honor our Past

The first thing I had planned after the brackets were finished was a bonus round. This will not affect the 2025 winner — Freezing Cold System Takes took the win, no questions asked.

But there was one individual who was nominated no less than 5 times before I had to make a post about it. And I think it’s only fair to see what happens.

It’s really not surprising to me that people might enjoy syscourse levity from syscoursebot over the constant fighting of Sophie’s blog. It really speaks to the state of syscourse right now.

Brackets 2025!

Hello, all my LOYAL CAMPAIGN FANS FROM LAST YEAR!

It's a pleasure to see you all again, and I hope to win your vote this time, even if I lost in battle against my opponent last year.

This year, I want to give a shoutout to @prose-among-the-trees, my competitor for round one. The instant the brackets came out, Prose actually came to my DMs, and we had a really nice conversation.

I'll be honest. I've been far, far less into syscourse this year. So much of it has been frustrating -- people on both sides refusing to acknowledge anyone else as a person, or understand the trials we all go through. So to have someone come to my DMs, despite us clearly not having many of the same "syscourse views," and treating me like a person? It was a wonderful treat!

I know my competitor is a newer face to syscourse, but I expect all of you to be very very nice to them.

Even while you vote against them. Because you'll be voting for me.

As far as the syscourse brackets are concerned, I don’t think I’ll do well 😅

I’m a yapper with strong opinions, and I’m not organized about it. I also have an issue with the majority of syscord, systok, and sysblr. All of it pisses me off. I’m a professional hater and I’m not bothered about pissing people off here.

This isn’t to justify when I don’t do well by the way, I just am pretty new to the organized syscourse scene. I’m still going to try my best though! I don’t know what challenges are going to ensue, but I genuinely can’t wait.
