hamilton, entirely self written about a self-made man with the weight of the world on his shoulders who needed to prove himself, all while being completely in homage to rap legends through and through

I think jack in the box just solidifies this as my pick for hoseok tbh

because there’s the childlike wonder side we all see and know (wizard of oz, j-hope of bts)

but then everything that surrounds it and the real story behind it (wicked, jitb)

both wicked and jitb offer a look into a “character” we think we’re familiar with, but it turns out we really aren’t

when we finally see them tell their story in their own words

elphaba struggles with her “role” and so does hobi, literally spelling it out for us in jitb

they both feel trapped, and thus reclaim and reinvent themselves 

It’s a very identity-focused musical/album that still links back to prejudice in our world, too and "where they fit in"

jimin - chicago 

sex

chicago is a look into fame/celebrity and corruption and ambition, and i think jimin has quite strong values when it comes to that

to me, it seems as though he finds those topics very interesting to think about

and also, how that all intersects with sexuality and gender

it feels like the crux of what chicago is as a musical but also who jimin presents himself to be

taehyung - west side story

i wanted something that’s a bit of a more classic musical for taehyung, and out of the ones i am familiar with, wss seemed the most fitting (tho i have a sneaky suspicion that one of the ones i am *not* familiar with might be more him)

taehyung is a romantic and, like nj, he almost romanticizes his losses and spends time looking back and reflecting on his own relationships and even his relationship with 'love' as a whole - layover proves it

so of course wss makes sense, the dance numbers, the longing, the risk of it all, the fact that it's story about "the power of love"

i think it'd leave quite the impact on tae, if he hasn't seen it yet

despite being a retelling of romeo & juliet (which tae would LOVE) wss also set the precedent for many musicals to come, much like tae did. looking back, it was very innovative for its time in so many different ways

musically, it's very taehyung. i could see him wanting to do covers of the songs. maria, tonight, and something's coming (he'd always go back to this song)

in every iteration of it, it's also very cinematic and very personal at the same time, which means it is very taehyung

jungkook - grease 

I didn’t WANT to pick grease and feed into that stereotypical ‘bad boy jk’ idea

but like i can’t not

and it’s not so much that it is representative of who jk is as a person

except aesthetically (the dazed cover is proof)

but that i can see jungkook himself enjoying the musical numbers and poking fun at john travolta, imitating him in his dance moves

i think he’ll particularly enjoy “you’re the one that i want” and might develop some sort of ‘corruption’ fantasy of turning a good girl bad

this might be me projecting that i want jk to do to me shhhhhhh

oh and he will go through a phase of calling his car “grease lightning” and sing the song every damn time he gets in it

1. Choi Seungcheol as Lee Young-Joon in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim

The strong male character with childhood trauma who doesn’t know what to do with his feelings once he realises the love of his life, whom he had never confessed to, is leaving him screams Seungcheol to me. He’s awkward with his feelings, reacts poorly when hearing the news, is a true leader who silently burdens not only his trauma, but also his brother’s.

2. Yoon Jeonghan as Park Chang-ho in Big Mouth

I think, of all the people in the world who can deceive a prison full of inmates that they’re a criminal mastermind and you shouldn’t mess with them, no one else would compare to Jeonghan. The professional lawyer, who is framed and sent to prison, is a good person at heart, and helps other suppressed inmates and leads a revolution. Jeonghan is particularly quick to think on his feet, which matches the character’s energy.

3. Hong Joshua as Kang Tae- Moo in Business Proposal

A cold CEO who is super averse to dating and and is busy running his business meets and instantly falls in love with a girl who is posing as her friend on this blind date to get rid of him. He is devoted to his family, his passion for his company’s food products is only matched by our heroine. He’s a great cook and is also kind of nosy in his little brother’s love life.

4. Wen Junhui as An Min-Hyuk in Strong Girl Bong Soon

The cute, funny gaming company CEO who hires our Bong Soon as a bodyguard just screams Jun to me, both because of his passion for games and gaming development but also for his endearingly cute and shy demeanour and the sense of humour. Plus actor Jun deserves a fun, cool and handsome role like this, considering we might never get to see his c drama :((

5. Kwon Soonyoung as Jung Joon-hyung in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo

Ok so this is the latest drama I’ve watched and Joonhyung’s passion and commitment for swimming instantly reminded me of Hoshi and his passion for dance. A bonus factor is the fact that after seeing In the Soop S2, I can confirm his….ahem…abdominal area can easily pass for a swimmer’s.

6. Jeon Wonwoo as Cha Sung-hoon in Business Proposal

Yeah I don’t think I need to explain this.

7. Lee Jihoon as Wi Seung-Huen in Rookie Cops

I’m sorry but Woozi as a trainee cop along with an initial e2f2l storyline???? Sign me uppppppp… Plus, this character is like the ace trainee along with having daddy issues and a strong sense of morality that builds over time. Just writing this is making me crave a Woozi remake of this show.

8. Xu Minghao as Myul Mang in Doom at Your Service

Minghao, I think, is the best person in the world who can bring doom to the world while looking fucking stylish and having an angsty emo personality. Fuck the humans, what even do they have. Xu minghao is literally here to end us all. Plus the later developments in the show and the emotions this characters develops….I’ll cry watching if Minghao was Myul Mang. Also, I feel like Minghao is the most supernaturally member in Svt- you know the one who is into Tarot cards and palm readings.

9. Kim Mingyu as Ji U-Min in The Fabulous

Ngl, the Going Magazine episode was a big factor while giving Mingyu this character. This super talented fashion and street photographer, who sometimes struggles to find his aim and is stuck in the friend zone after breaking up with the female lead is such Gyu vibe honestly. This man is so supportive, encouraging…and might I say relentless?

10. Lee Seokmin as Baek Hee- Sung in Flower of Evil

The beauty of Dark! Seokmin is something to behold, a fantasy I will never give up on. A bright, perfect husband in every sense of the way on the surface with a dark past and even darker present….. is….so…..hot. And his wife is a police officer? Yup yup add it to the drama. Mars’ serial killer DK fic has arisen a fantasy in me that i don’t think is going away anytime soon. Plus I’m a sucker for complicated, grey characters whose layers are revealed slowly as the series progresses. He’s almost an anti- hero here.

11. Boo Seungkwan as Lee Seung-cheon in The Golden Spoon

Another grey character, probably the most complicated character on this list. I think, for me, our Boo is also the most emotionally complex and mature guy in seventeen so I think this character really suits him. Our lead guy, is born into poverty but changes his luck, along with his family’s, by switching lives with the richest guy in his school. Complications, along with consequences, haunt him.

12. Chwe Hansol as Goo Chang-seong in Hotel Del Luna

I’m sorry but Vernon as this character??? In great looking suits and constantly in service of ghosts to help them finish their last wishes and peacefully transition to afterlife along with having… probably the most emotional love story ever…..yeah I need a minute, or a week.

13. Lee Chan as Kim Do-ki in Taxi Driver

Taxi driver is probably my favourite kdrama till date. And Dino as the sexy vigilante who takes revenge for people who the system can’t help is such a sexy concept. Action hero Dino to the rescue! Plus the main character plays so many roles undercover and is so hilarious at times that Dino will fit perfectly in this character’s shoes.

The helo landed, and Mirror grabbed Soap's bound wrists and began dragging him towards the military base. Soap's eyes trailed upwards, and his eyes narrowed. With the amount of security around this place, it reminded him of a castle. He looked back down, taking a deep breath. ‘Och, poor Si…he's probably terrified right now and masking it with anger…’ he thought. His thoughts were on Ghost, even as Mirror dragged him through the base. Then, he looked up, and saw just how many demons were here. More than a thousand. The rest must've come from all over the world, then. ‘How many demons did Meister break?’ Soap thought, as his mind drifted back to a conversation Ghost and him had while he was still recovering.

“You know, Meister tortured us to make us weak to mind control.” Ghost murmured. Soap's head snapped up from his sketchbook. “Mind control?” He asked. Ghost nodded. “Affirmative.” He brought his hand up to his neck. “He’d collar us, then attack us. He saw us as nothing more than tools.” Ghost's wings tightened around himself. Soap's eyes softened and he touched Ghost's hand. “Yer so much more than a tool to me, Simon. Yer as alive as the rest of us.” he murmured. Ghost looked back at Soap and his eyes spoke volumes. “Thanks, Johnny.”

A tear rolled down Soap's cheek. God, he hoped Ghost was looking for him. He was scared.

Mirror dragged him into a room, shoving him in and locking the door behind him. Soap fell to the floor, and knelt there, his hands clenched into fists. He let the tears begin rolling down his cheeks, as he tried not to sob. He was in the lion's den and all alone. Too weak to fight against demons and vampires and…whatever Shepard was. God, he'd never wished for anything, not even to be a monster…but now, he was cursing his human heritage. ‘Ah’m useless. Cannae even save maself, much less love Simon how he wants.’ He bit his tongue. ‘Ah’m pathetic. Fought tooth ‘n nail ta get where ah was, and now ah'm here. In an empty room, captured, unable to save maself.’ A sob escaped from the gag, and the dam broke. He curled up, sobbing.

Graves was standing there, his eyes narrowed. “Do you ever shut up!?” He snapped. Soap sat up, placing his bound wrists on his knees. “Ya ken, Graves, ye have a really bad track record with kidnapping. Twice in two months. Ghost isnae goin’ tae be happy with this.”

Graves's eyes narrowed. “I do not care what that beast thinks. He's nothing more than an animal, a tool to use as we see fit. He doesn't have feelings, he can't.” Soap's eyes narrowed. “...” He lunged at Graves, only to be tackled by one of the other demon guards. Graves's eyes narrowed. “Take him to the little room.” The demon nodded and dragged Soap off as Soap screamed his head off at Graves, in pure rage.

The demon threw Soap in another room, this one with three beds, and paper strewn around the room. He hit the ground roughly, and he let out a groan. He felt hands grab his binds and he almost struck the person…until he looked ahead…and saw a child with pale tannish skin, her right eye being a purple color, her left eye being a pink color, blonde hair, and tiny red horns. “Evelyn! He could be a threat!” came a voice. He turned his head and saw a girl, no older than fourteen, shielding a smaller boy. The girl had light grayish pinkish-purple hair, her right eye being orange and her left eye being a dark grayish magenta color. She had a burn scar by her right eye, and she had horns of a dull gold color that curved like a ram's. Soap looked around, spotting two other kids. His heart sank.

I saw your Holland post and I never thought about why Holland and Taehyung never collab. You brought up some interesting points. I will say, I think there is a divide within shipping with some queer people supporting and some homophobic people supporting shipping based on just liking two people in this case Taehyung and Jung Kook. I suspect you may get push back for your thoughts. I saw your reblog about MHJ and Taehyung and you’re probably going to get some pushback with that as well. I think everyone is afraid to think for themselves and some of us are starting to realize there’s somethings that aren’t making sense if you really sit back and think. Yes, why Tae couldn't collab with Holland? Holland is just too much close to comfort. He's just filled with too much reality uglyness for someone as far-removed from reality as Idols are. K-Pop is highly homophobic in nature, they don't allow for gay people to become idols, and Holland wasn't their only victim at that. But then K-Pop encourages gay fanservice and fantasy ships as nothing! and we Fans eat up all that without barely any type of questionning.

Now, tell me again, what's the actual contribution that Taehyung has done to this queer world, beyond the safety of his fluffy cushions?

Some things are really easy to understand, or not? Holland: "the reason i‘ve been walking around with my fly open for the past 20 years is that no one ever pointed out the issue to me. so, i went out today with my pants still unzipped"

Holland is a struggling artist now, playing for very small venues, with just a few hundreds in attendance. He said he couldn't even afford to travel to places like New York, or Mexico, which were too expensive. His insta is filled with queer fans that despise shipping as well.

Of course, I'd like to hear more about these things from other Tae fans or shippers, but I think we can conclude shipping discourse doesn't blend to reality very well, right?

I'm all for fairy tales stories though --but if you compare posts by Korean gay celebs (I found another one recently, I'll see if I can post about him soon --an actor) , you'll find much more raw, crude, juicy, gut-wrenching posts that would make pale any of those highly stylish, highly curated, cherry-picked queer references that Tae has been posting for years. These ships really do look like bland to anything from real life.

If shippers wanted to support gay rights they would continue to support Holland, no matter what. Shippers too ignored the controversy on "Love Wins All" that straightforward exploited a well-known catchphrase that represented the fight of the real gay community in Korea. Shippers didn't really say anything on the backlash. Are Shippers that unaware that in real life queer community don't want anything to do with K-Pop?

It's really hard to think that Tae didn't know about the significance of that catchphrase and still went on with that project. Shippers claiming that Tae is doing a "revolution" in his fighting for gay visibility with that "Friends" MV. They forgot to add that, gay Korean community already turned their backs on him! That shipping discourse is a mockery to actual Korean queer people!

If anything, If we consider Taekook are really a couple and we as fans all want to read about fairy tales and romantic stories. I understand better now why Jk would reject all that exposure, doesn't play into that hinting at all. Nobody forces anyones to hint at their sexuality, a private relationship is just private, you don't just toy publicly with that. That's were the backlash comes from. Too many mind games and plain signaling. I was really fuming when Friends MV came out. I really despise signaling. Some fans replied to me, some of them really think Tkk are gonna come out after military service. Really, are they? Is it not much more honest Jungkook's approach to the question?? Fans don't need so much hinting. We know already Tkk see each other a lot, anyway.

You mean Tae's fans trying to erase, downplay and diminish MHJ's role on his very first solo album is not contributing to Hybe's tradition of further putting down Tae's career? She was literally filming Slow Dancing with him in that Spanish beach, but yes, she was just passing by, of course. Whatever, If he can't defend her role and his own album like it happened on reality, then he will deserve to continue being abused. Or erased.

These "misguided" fans don't really seem to have any insight into things at all. All Layover MV's were fully impregnated with Min Hee Jin visions and are very much alike to NewJeans' MVs themselves. Besides, his music is akin to her music tastes. Fans forget she's also a producer, meaning she oversees the music, the choice of songs, and and had a meaningful role in NewJeans music production as well.

To conclude, I've been following and unfollowing that Solo account several times already. I thought even if there's no agreement in some instances, it'd better to show some support towards the community either way , since it's so small representation here. However, I'm tired of that already. I have no interest to be taking part of this type of discourse anymore.

I found those posts, and Tkkrs clapping back at that, so very dismissive and distasteful. I should've known better since it's not the first time that I see that same solo dismissing other artists like that.

It's so telling people don't care about erasing other artists but when it's their fav's turn then it's a big scandal. They know Tae was mistreated by BSH and BigHit for years, yet they are just allowing that abuse to extend further with more erasing. Fortunately, not every Tae fan thinks like this!

How deeply misogynistic, offensive, disrespectful to females artists, to poor Garam, is allowing that. I should kind of expected that. How truly thick and narrow-minded they're, they really have no insight into anything beyond their fav business.

Ah, I should've known better, since I asked before about G-Dragon drug allegations and they just dismissed it considering he was guilty either way! Of course!!! Obviously I should've known better than to ask a Solo for other artists!! However when I read the news, it was obvious watching and reading about God-like G-Dragon's attitude when arriving to questionning and the fact that police had no evidence against him, that he was innocent. But who Tae solo care about any of that!

Scene 3: Reality tv confessional room.  Model Sunji  (Yoshi Sudarno, left) confesses that he doesn't understand photographer Zario because he doesn't act gay.  But he'snot normal, so Sunji just tries to be a good friend.

Cut to photographer Zario getting ready for his first job "since the breakup," filming a podcast hosted by artist Kito (Chance Calloway). 

Scene 4: Model Sunji cooking shirtless.  He sees a spider and freaks out.

In another room, the podcast has begun.  From left to right, the hamburger oral sex guy CJ/Elijah; host Kito; and Samuel.  Out of the shot, Gregory, the "just eat it" guy, and Zario, filming them.

 They get high, giggle, and discuss the gay Asian-American experience:  

The problem is, in school, people of color are taught as relics of a bygone era.  Marco Polo visits China,  Japanese-Americans are sent to internment camps during World War II, and that's the last you hear of any Asian person.  They cease to exist. "So Hollywood can't acknowledge us in contemporary roles.  They think of us as relics." So is it the gay Asian-American actor experience? 

Scene 5:  Business law student Ellington  (Xavier Avila) sits in a car. His date, pretending to be a prostitute, asks "What you looking for, Handsome?" 

"Just get your butt in the car," Ellington says, annoyed.

So, what should they do on their date?  First they have to rush over to the guys' house: "I got a text saying that Sunji was trying to burn the place down,"   He's still trying to swat the spider in the kitchen?

Back to the podcast: If a role is described as "an all-American type," don't even bother. to audition. They want a white guy.

Back to the kitchen: Hustler Jay comes in, hears about the spider, and jumps onto a counter. 

Scene 6: Back to the podcast.  Instead of watching Friends, you could be watching Living Single, but you don't, because you are programmed to identify with white people. Or you could watch something from this century.

Samuel continues: "We are all able-bodied straight males, so we could be cast in The X-Men, but we won't be, because Hollywood thinks only white guys can be heroes."  Wait -- I thought these guys were all gay. Maybe it's a podcast on the Asian-American acting experience, with some straight guys who don't actually live in the house. Gregory  points out that he's gay, "So your assumption of privilege is already faulty." He continues: we can be privileged in one identity and marginalized in another. 

CJ/Elijah agrees:  We've been programmed to believe that we can only concentrate on one injustice at a time.  So you can be Asian or gay, but you can't be both. But we need to work on all forms of oppression.

Concluding thoughts: CJ/Elijah wants more Asian representation in mass media. Samuel wants to see an Asian superhero movie.  Gregory wants the revolution to be intersectional. 

Scene 8: Gamer Alexander (Kyle Rezzedy),enters the kitchen. Now there are three shirtless guys cringing in fear of the spider. He must be the one who got bitten, and thinks, or pretends to think, that it gave him Spiderman-type powers "to protect the queens." And it cleverly ties in the "Asian Superhero" reference in the podcast. The end

Beefcake: The guys have their shirts off most of the time. No nude photos outside paywalls except for "coyly covering the penis" shots.

Diversity: All but one of the guys is Asian.

West Hollywood:  No exteriors. 

Gay Characters: I thought this was about gay guys sharing a house, but according to the fan wiki, hustler Jay, the one fighting the spider, and business student Ellington, the one whose date pretended to be a prostitute, are straight.   

What about CJ/ Elijah:  He doesn't live in the house; he just came over for the podcast. But Gregory cooked him a hamburger, so they must be boyfriends, right?  Or it's a misdirection:  Cj/Elijah got the burger somewhere else, and he's messing with Gregory by acting like it's a penis that he intends to go down on.  I can't tell.

My Grade: Hearing about the experiences of Asian-American actors was interesting, but a spider in the kitchen seemed a little weak for a B plot, even in an 11-minute episode. And there were too many misdirections.  Do straight guys really spend a lot of time pretending that they want to have sex with their gay friends?   The guys being shirtless throughout was a plus. B

I've never been to France, I've only ever lived in the little seaport of Pohang in Gyeongsang, South Korea. Yet, I'd grown up watching all those movies depicting the beauty of Paris, listening to Lolo Zoui, Carla Bruni, Angèle, Pomme, Louane, Stromae and more. I'd begun to learn French from apps on my tiny phone screen and baked Ratatouille, all in bids to make my Parisian dream come true. But I knew given my financial situation, I'd never be able to make it true. The closest I'd ever come to it was the descriptions sent by my pen pal writing to me from Versailles. When I'd signed up for the pen pal program back in school, I'd never imagined my luck that I'd be patched with someone in my dream country. Kim Taehyung and I had been writing to each other since a decade now, from the early 2000's till now. He was a Korean descent boy who's family had moved to France while he was still a kid. He wanted to stay in touch with his Korean roots and I wanted to vicariously live in France. It worked out just perfectly, especially as we grew up and switched between both languages, our letters getting longer, photos getting added to our notes, hand pressed flowers being sent inside envelopes, souveniers being exchanged across the miles. But nothing prepared us 90's babies for the technological revolution and what that would bring. I wasn't prepared to hear his deep and dusky voice especially in contrast to his boyish charm and soft demeanor on paper. It caught me off guard as did his photo, him sending me a cheeky picture where he's trying to eat a chocolate minitature Eiffel tour. Even though he knows I love chocolate and that was what should've caught my attention, I was far too distracted by him in his leather jacket and jet black tresses.

I told myself it couldn't be true, it just couldn't be possible. I mean we'd never met!! How could I be attracted to someone that I didn't even know irl, who knew what kind of a man he really was? There was only so much letters, photos & calls could reveal. Besides we were continents away with neither planning to cross the sea between us. I just told myself that I was projecting my love for France onto him, it was just me romantizing everything to make it fit like a neatly tied gift. But this want a fairytale, it was reality and Tae and I were simply not happening.

But fate had other plans, I saw all of France through his eyes. Starting with the Palace of Versailles, which was the first place he'd video called me from- he'd made up his mind to travel the country while letting me experience it through his footsteps. He'd keep his camera on, give his commentary and share every moment of his adventures with me. And so one day, when we'd run out of new places to visit, I asked him to take me to a place that reminded him most of me. Something that he thought would resonate with me, somewhere he'd take me first if I was actually able to visit there. And I wasn't ready for what he had in mind. I imagined he'd pick one of the more obvious spots like the Louvre where we'd bonded over Monet's art work all day or the vineyards of Champagne where we'd been on call all through the night. But instead he went to the Place du Trocadéro, as the sun set behind him and the stars sprinkled across the sky. This elevated and open green space nestled behind the Eiffel tower was a less visited but still tourist friendly location. With its dancers and musicians, street food carts and fountains- it's alive and the magic of Paris is visible at its best. "I chose this place because it's so alive, you can feel the excitement and passion in the air. It reminds me of you- with your bubbly energy and buzzing enthusiasm. It's filled with songs by favorite artists, the chocolate crêpes here have your name written all over them and everytime I watch couples on a date here, families taking pictures in the light of the tower, tourists videocalling their loved ones. I just knew, I had to show this place to you, not just on camera but in reality. I promise you, someday I'll find a way to get you here. I've never seen anyone treasure this place the way you do, the locals here think it's a tourist trap and sometimes I do too. But everytime I show you around, the stars in your eyes and the small O's of your mouth remind me of the beauty that surrounds me. You're beautiful... I mean it's beautiful. Isn't it?"

And in that moment as he bit his lip realizing his mistake, that he accidentally called me pretty instead of the scenery. I couldn't help but come to a huge realisation myself. I wasn't looking at the scenery any longer, I was looking at him. Him in his cozy and furry sweater that I wanted to cling onto, him with his shoes half worn knowing that he hated wearing footwear even when he knew he'd be walking all day, him with his large fingers easily gripping the phone even as he was being pushed through the crowd, him with his nervous laughter as his tipsy self slipped secrets he otherwise wouldn't share. What mattered to me wasn't the shine that shone behind him but the sparkle in his eyes. Even though France was and would always be my first love, I had fallen in love once again. And this time, I could tell it was stronger than before because even though I was visiting the most gorgeous place in sight, as he'd rightly described- I was consumed by him. I was in love not with the city of romance but with the man who'd introduced me to it.

"Tu me manques." I told him, knowing that he'd know what I meant. French was known as Aphrodite's chosen language for a reason. It was so much more than just me saying, I miss you like what the words translated to English or Korean meant. It was me telling him that "he was missing from me, that he was a part of my body, something that was integral to my existence, like the only way I'd be whole was if he was here next to me." And that's why this one phrase was more powerful than any amount of I love yous said in any other tongue and I knew he understood that. Because in that moment, I could see his eyes tear up as his boxy smile graced his face and he leaned forward to press his lips against the phone screen. Sending me a kiss, across the world as the winds in the sky and the glowing moon above us, passed on his love to me.

born in jeju, south korea, teddy’s parents were very in love but also very young when he came to be. the two had a bit of a romeo and juliet story, born into rich families who didn’t approve of their relationship, and even more so of how, unmarried at 18, the two ended expecting a child

the two of them, fed up with their families (and worried about how they may act in the future), decided to use all their savings and uproot their whole lives, moving to london, england

and none of them regretted this one bit. teddy was born and raised with two parents, whose love for each other was only matched by their love for their child. they supported anything and everything teddy wanted to do since before he could even talk

because of this, teddy grew up into a sweet, caring and considerate person, who believed in everything good in the world. but he also never truly had to figure out anything for himself. some may say that his parents coddled them too much, which is likely very true, and that this hindered his ability to truly be independent

sure, teddy knows how to wash clothes and pay bills perfectly fine, but his emotional dependency? that’s a whole other story. they get very easily attached, and can be a bit of a doormat and people pleaser to a fault, finding it hard to say no or ever put himself first, something they never did manage to grow out of completely

upon graduating school at 18, teddy got his first ever job as a bartender. they weren’t the best at it, dropped a few too many bottles and spilled a few too many drinks, but they enjoyed it well enough

however, it was while bartending that teddy got to know just how bad people could be. he often saw the worst of the worst, and stuck behind a long wooden counter could never really do anything to help

over the next several years they job hopped a lot. from bartender to secretary to decorator to barista, teddy had a hard time figuring what he wanted to do and settling down. until a job position as a bouncer opened up at that same first club that he worked at that is

it took a while for him to get used to the job, to being able to say no and stay firm when need be, but after a bit of practice and some growth as a person, teddy really took to the job; charming enough to pacify upset people, and strong enough to use a bit of force when talking them down didn’t work

but then, aged 26, his mother got a job offer. in the united states. and being so close to his parents, teddy hated the idea of being so far from them, only being able to occasionally connect over the phone or web

so of course, it was no surprise when they decided to move across the pond with them

it wasn’t hard for teddy to get a job working security with revolution records. firstly, starting off working security for the building, and doing a good enough job that he worked his way up the job ladder until he was juggled around the company where he was needed, working as main bodyguard to the company higher ups and top artists

He ran as a candidate for the Democratic Republic Party and was elected, defeating Democratic Party candidate Yun Po-seon, and launched the Third Republic. After completing his first four-year term, he was re-elected again in the 6th presidential election in 1967, defeating New Democratic Party candidate Yoon Bo-seon. He led national policies represented by the 5-year economic development plan and the Saemaul Undong, contributing to solving people's livelihoods, achieving economic development, and escaping the problem of absolute poverty.

032 - The Blue Boys are being sent to Vietnam

1st of November 1960

Busan 06:02— It’s time for Shin Tae-yong, a First Lieutenant in the Korean Navy to walk home from Busan Naval Base. But before he left his post, he saw his family photo consisting of his father and mother on his office desk. He tried to remember his service to the country is his service to his family and his loved ones. Suddenly a young ensign slams his office door.

“Darn it Ensign, why do you have to slam my door when I’m in my moment of silence”, said Shin Tae-yong

“Lieutenant Shin Tae-yong, I’m sorry to slam your door but I’m here because I heard from the Captain that you are being sent to Vietnam to help the US.” Said the young Ensign. 

“What?” Shin Tae-yong is in shock. He knows that the army is being sent abroad, but not the navy.  then the young ensign gave him the paper order and a military newspaper. 

“Two weeks? After the army.” Shin Tae-yong sighs, then told the young ensign to leave. He reads the order, and he wonders. How can he leave his family to fight in a war for a foreign country? How can he leave now, when his family lives in a nation in turmoil where food is scarce? He picks up the How can the Government make such a reckless decision? Is the April Revolution worth it? Shin Tae-yong is left to wander.

His eyes then wander, and he found himself staring at the political section in the military newspaper. The political section is usually left blank. This is to symbolise the neutrality of the military, and the military has no place in politics. 

He lifts the newspaper near a light. The writings on the next flip become as if they’re imprinted on the blank paper itself. There, he found a sentence with a slightly bolder print: 

행동할 준비를 하십시오.

I am a casual fan of BTS too and I chose Jungkook’s stage outfit from their live preformance at Show! Music Core. (Comeback stage for Run) Run is my favorite era and I really liked the black outfit with red suspenders on him! ❤️ Other than green eyes Ray kind of looks like him. 😅 I did the drawing in an entirely non chibi style like my Le Comte folk dance art so I’m really proud of the face drawing.

As for the body model I asked my dear ol’ onii chan to pose and let me photograph him at different angles. 👏👏👏 A big round of applause for Saku-chan’s older brother! 😅
