TDDK HC TIME!!!!

They both suck at cooking. Shoto has never cooked a day in his life, and is permanently banned from the kitchen in the dorms after starting a fire while trying to boil water. Whilst Izuku is somewhat a decent cook, who at least knows how to boil water without causing a fire. Though the only thing he knows how to properly make is katsudon. (But only because Inko grew tired of having to make it for him almost everyday.) And so after many and I mean many failed attempts at cooking dinner for everyone, Aizawa forces Izuku and Shoto to attend cooking classes. (He’s tired of the smoke alarm going off all the time, but it’s not just because of Shoto’s cooking iywim)

Izuku slumped onto the couch, hand holding a glass filled with some pink drink that Ochako had pushed into his hand. He sniffed it. It smelt fine.

Shouto came down to sit beside him and Izuku immediately smiled. "Are you not going to be drinking this?" he asked, pointing to the sparkling pink drink.

Shouto made a face and Izuku's smile widened even more. He knew that Shouto was a lightweight. It was still fun to tease him.

"I saw Kaminari walk in with three different bottles earlier and I do not want to try any," Shouto said. "And," Shouto started a little shyly, "I should be asking this while sober."

Izuku turned to look at Shouto who looked a little nervous. "What is it?" he asked.

Shouto rested his head on the headrest, his head still turned towards Izuku so, Izuku mimicked his movement until both their heads were resting against the plush fabric of the couch and facing against each other.

"I was going to ask you much earlier but Bakugou had decided we make you a suit, so I'd waited until it was ready," Shouto said, all while holding eye contact. Izuku nodded, prodding him to continue.

Shouto smiled. "Would you start a hero agency with me?"

Izuku jerked forward in surprise and sloshed some of the pink drink onto his hand. He placed the glass on a nearby table, embarrassed, before going back to staring in shock at Shouto.

"You want to start an agency with 𝘮𝘦?"

Shouto flushed. "Well, of course, if you don't want to, I don't mind at all. But, yes, I'd love to start an agency with you."

Izuku shook his head vigorously. "No, I'd love that, too! But, aren't you worried that I became a hero just a week ago and am still a teacher?"

Shouto looked at him quizzically. "You've always been a hero," Shouto said and Izuku couldn't help but feel his cheeks flush with warmth. "And," Shouto continued, "you being a teacher isn't trouble at all. I think it's for the better. I don't know many rules. Even if I did, I might end up breaking them."

Izuku is suddenly reminded of Hosu from years ago, of them breaking a law and if Shouto immediately going to fight with the head of the police department. It wasn't a pleasant memory but, it still brought a smile to his face.

"Also," Shouto said, "your suit looks very nice. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 look very nice."

Izuku let out a startled laugh. "Are we trying flattery now?" he asked Shouto, who was grinning freely at him.

"Yes," Shouto replied. "Is it working?"

"Maybe," Izuku lied, because it was 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 working. He looked over at Shouto, who was looking at him with such a soft look that Izuku knew that he could never deny him.

"Okay," Izuku agreed.

Shouto looked at him, surprised. "Okay?"

Izuku smiled. "Okay."

“So, what’s this?” Uraraka asks, with the air of someone who knows exactly what this is but wants to force Izuku through the mortifying ordeal of explaining it anyway. 

Izuku cringes and closes his eyes. 

Todoroki, immune to embarrassment, says, “We’re massaging Midoriya’s arms.”

Kacchan, immune to social pressure, doesn’t even bother to respond. 

Izuku, caught between two very warm, very close bodies, alternates between melting at the gentle way they knead out the pain from his aching muscles and fidgeting nervously. 

“While practically in his lap?” Uraraka presses. “Both of you?”

And Kacchan and Todoroki do both have a leg tossed over Izuku’s. 

For leverage. Obviously. 

Izuku peeks open one eye, trying to psychically beg Uraraka to stop asking questions and just let him have this. 

“You’re overworking yourself,” Kacchan mutters, displeased and using his quirk to massage a particularly sore finger joint. 

They're practically holding hands.

“Uh huh,” Izuku responds intelligently. 

“Dumbfuck,” Kacchan chastises, flicking his temple. “Listen to me.”

Izuku draws in a sharp breath as Todoroki’s chin comes to rest gently on his other shoulder. 

“He’s right, you know.”

“Don’t…” Izuku starts, falling silent when Todoroki’s thumb presses distractingly against Izuku’s palm. 

Then Kacchan’s temple falls carefully against Izuku’s, breath warm across his cheek, and Izuku tries his best to remember the rest of his sentence. 

“Don’t…um…inflate his ego, Todoroki-kun.” 

Kacchan uses his head to press the three of them closer together, less gently than before, knocking Izuku's skull into Todoroki’s. Three peas in a pod. 

“I don’t get ego-stroking privileges?”  

Izuku laughs nervously. 

“No?”

Todoroki hums. 

“I think Midoriya is a little distracted at the moment.”

Izuku shakes his head. “Not distracted,” he promises. “Just…uh. I'm just…um...”

“Just convinced you two haven’t been hitting on him all year,” Uraraka finishes, voice a conspiratorial whisper, before moving away to the kitchen. 

Izuku can’t help the startled noise that escapes him when two pairs of soft lips press against his cheeks. 

“Get the message yet, nerd?”  

Izuku pauses with an honest answer on his lips and swallows it back down, face growing hot, because if this is real (and all the signs suggested it was) then, 

“…no.”

“No?” Todoroki repeats.

Izuku squeezes his eyes shut. Nervously, he mumbles, “Might have to make it clearer.”

His little stunt is rewarded with a pleased rumble from Kacchan- now nosing at his temple, lips skating achingly close to Izuku's skin in a not-quite kiss- and Todoroki sliding further onto Izuku’s lap.

They’re both still massaging his arms. Izuku hasn't been thinking about the pain for quite a while, though. 

“I don’t know how we could be clearer,” Todoroki says and the heat and the closeness and the genuine concern for his well being must be melting Izuku’s brain because he blurts out, 

“Kiss me.”

It’s worth it, though, for the way they dip down and finally give him what he’s been dreaming about. Ten times sweeter than any whispered, late-night wish. 

"But don't go thinking you call the shots, nerd."

1) genuinely u have no idea how overjoyed this makes me . waaah . yeah all of my character biases and headcanons came out with this one. i projected to hell and back all over tddk and it shows. im glad u liked it so much bc i think this is my favorite depiction of any bnha characters ive written so far :3

2) evidently. my second favorite thing to do to my favorite characters (besides putting them through unimaginable horrors) is setting them loose in an enclosure of Insane individuals that will guaranteed drive them up a wall. enter stage right one todoroki shouto dead set on patricide, getting a new boyfriend, and giving said boyfriend an anxiety attack. not necessarily in that order. this was my first time writing from izuku’s perspective in any long form capacity, so im happy general consensus agrees i did a good job :> thankfully just inflicting shouto on him for ab 25k words worked out lmao

3) IM OVERJOYED U LIKED THE INTRO BECAUSE I LOST MY MIND OVER IT. could absolutely not figure out how to open this monster of a fic for weeks and it was driving me bonkers bc i typically write in order so i was just not getting anywhere. then i got struck with the productivity beam and wrote like a madman. the whole fic may have taken me over a year to write but still i DID IT and it is glorious. when in doubt i went with whatever absurdity wld stress izuku out most and ran with it.

4) the panic swearing scene as a result of izuku’s not-boyfriend being too pretty for his brain to comprehend without a hard factory reset was one of my favorites!! it was also scary for me to write bc typically fanon interpretations (which i hate) have izuku like. allergic to swearing. which is bullshit but wtv. fanon also tends to spread to an entire fandom annoyingly fast so i was worried ppl wouldnt like my izuku and the way i write him, before i remembered i can do whatever i want forever and every time someone “uwu cinnamon roll” trope-ifys him an angel dies somewhere. so i kept it in. also i think after all The Shenanigans (ominous violin string) hes entitled to a few f-bombs.

5) oh yeah speaking of fanon interpretations dying by my blade: Todoroki Shouto. i will never in my life write him being overly polite or considerate and this is my pledge. hes a blunt, rude bitch and its funny as hell therefore it is my civic duty to inflict his behavior on everybody else. hes also autistic. why? because i am, and i said so. izuku isnt safe from projection either, as hes got some intense anxiety issues (which is basically canon) and, while i didnt get to blatantly make it clear since i couldnt find a good place to do so, hes absolutely got chronic pain from all his insane death defying injuries. do w that what you will.

6) the todoroki family were my favorite interactions to write and for good reason. clowning on endeavor is wildly therapeutic. do i support abusive people realizing theyre abusive and working to get better? yeah sure. but i dont plan on making it easy for him. hence why i mock him relentlessly throughout with shouto as my mouthpiece. hes earned an incredible amount of relentless mocking and i am going to deliver— this is why i feel hes the one character i wrote thats a bit of a caricature, or the largest detour from his timeline-accurate canon counterpart in this fic, but consider: its really fucking funny. rei, fuyumi, and natsuo are also a joy to write, because i love them. touya mightve made an appearance for shits n giggles, if i hadnt already decided the league were mostly in prison (for the sake of that everyone lives/nobody dies tag, but also so i had an excuse to not write all of this During the final war arc.)

7) shouto is ABSOLUTELY a loser menace and meant to be read as such. the kid can call the chief of police a slur to his face but not ask someone out normally. he can commit grand theft auto but can’t figure out an idiom to save his life. he orders olive garden to a gala and eats the pasta cold. he is seventeen years old. hes also me, but who would i be if i didnt project and amplify in everything i write.

8) izuku is disaster incarnate. my beautiful princess with a disorder. he has crippling anxiety and could kill you with a flick of his finger. hes prone to acts of extreme danger and violence despite his every effort to avoid them. he is the singular character in this entire fic thats actually attending therapy which suggests, yes, this is his mental state After hes worked through a ton of shit in therapy. it couldve been way worse. he either needs 15 minutes under a weighted blanket or a xanax im not sure which. but ive read enough abusive inko fics that i had to write her not Perfect by any means but still a good mom that loves him so much to balance it out :3

9) ohhh u mean one of my top three favorite scenes in the whole fic? one thats not even centered around the main ship? riveting! yeah somebody (me) cried like a fucking baby at a certain apology scene the second i saw it animated. therefore this scene was necessary. it also fulfills my need to go “fuck you *disables your favorite character*” which i must do in like every fic i ever write. bakugou is also me (🚩) but thats not relevant at this time. if its not clear already, i do have a decent amt of knowledge about ASL! JSL (which theyre using in this fic. obviously) is a little harder for me— ive been learning japanese for years, but sign languages are entire languages in and of themselves. i wasnt entirely sure if JSL works the same as ASL in the case of giving people a name sign so you dont need to finger-spell their entire name out, but for the sake of my silly headcanon, lets pretend it does. as this is my blog and i do what i want— plus i promised yapping— impromptu japanese lesson with moony time: the word “deku,” as its spelled in bnha, isnt actually a word by itself. rather, its just an alternate reading of the kanji for izuku’s name. 出久 (izuku) can also be read as デク (deku, alternate kanji spelling). when written with different kanji, 木偶 (deku), short for 木偶の坊 (dekunobou) instead means “wooden doll/puppet” which is an insult for someone considered useless. uraraka says this nickname sounds similar to できる (dekiru), which directly translated means “to be able to”, but is usually translated into english as “you can do it.” ofc im not fluent, so feel free to fact check me on any of that— but ive been learning japanese for a long time, so i like to think i know what im talking about :3 its a little thing really, but its still a pet peeve of mine when people dont seem to realize this. this doesnt Technically come up in the fic beyond a couple throwaway lines, but it IS what i had in mind when i was writing that JSL scene between midoriya and bakugou, so i figured it was relevant enough to point out :>

Like we have bakugou (gross but I get it) who has been in his life since forever, all might who WILL be his mentor but is too scared rn, todoroki our beautiful love interest, will izuku be getting any more soulmates? He becomes pretty close friends with kids and uraraka in canon, or perhaps there are other friends he'll make that will make the mark?

I kind of think of the soulmarks in terms of impact and possibilities, y'know? Like. Here is a person who's going to have an impact on your life. And here is a person who has the potential to mean so much to you. But that potential can't be realized without effort and sincerity.

Like with Bakugou- in some alternate universe maybe they could have been the childhood-bestfriends ultimate-hero-team. But Bakugou chose to be an asshole instead, and now when Izuku presses down on his soulmark, all he feels is the phantom pain of that could-have-been.

As for Toshinori....I think my favourite part about him might be the cosmic irony?? Like. we already know the impact he could have had on Izuku. It was the visual evidence of that very same impact that made him panic and try to keep Izuku at a distance.

Unfortunately for him, I'm not giving him a choice:)))) Dad might is happening or so help me god. It's probably going to have to be Yagi-san though. Like- imagine he's just trying to have a nice, calm walk to Dagobah Beach but then he sees Izuku cleaning???scavenging???and lifting heavy things with Incorrect technique oh lord- (Toshinori: Child. Child don't touch the sharp rusted things without hand protection- child please. ) What is the point of protecting his soulmate from villains if he dies from tetanus??????? Meanwhile Izuku is kinda maybe avoiding All Might but thinks Yagi-san is precious, 10/10, would die for him. Cue shenanigans.

Tddk are soulmates in every sense in every universe I don't make the rules. They're probably not going to get any more soulmates though. (Even though Uraraka is the ultimate best friend+wingwoman) The only other soulmate I could imagine giving either of them is Eri.

He's listless and unsure about his reasons for being a hero and then this small hurt little girl run into his arms and suddenly he's got all the reason in the world right here and he's never letting go. Imagine people seeing always-composed Todoroki just lose it when she goes back to Overhaul. Imagine Izuku holding him as he cries and rages. Imagine the future tddk co-parenting. (EraserMic will do the actual co-parenting but no force on earth can stop tddk from calling Eri their precious little angel).

1) While reading i was wondering indeed about Izukus "skillsets" ehem👀 like we know he had a previous relationship and theres some air of speculation around him and shouto cosplayers, in stark contrast to his future vision of barely getting to hold his so's hand... i did ask myself quite a bit about izukus innocence haha

2) do you have headcanons or perhaps a whole fic in mind of wedding shenanigans or the disaster of shinkami getting together?

3) Who throws Todoroki a hangover-eske bachelor party and why is it ochako?

4) was soba ever possessive of his catdaddy giving all his attention away? And how did banjo and kazooie warm up to their stepmom?

The first question made me laugh out loud. His skillsets. 😂 But okay! Let me tackle these one at a time! Sorry in advance, but I'll probably babble.

1. So. Izuku's skillsets are probably pretty average, lmao. Shouto was very smitten, though, that first time, so Ochako assumed he was some sort of sex god. But Shouto is only the second person Izuku has ever slept with, and the first guy, so it's not like he has a ton of experience. Concerning the Shouto cosplayers, he really did just take pictures with them and go on his merry way. They were probably very disappointed. ^^; He's a romantic, though, and I can't see him sleeping with someone casually. All that being said, despite his limited experience (he and his ex weren't together long), I imagine he is very veeery attentive and giving. With his first relationship, she and Izuku were each other's firsts. They met in college. She broke up with him after being pressured to by her friends, who thought she could do better than a quirkless guy who was also shorter than her. She had a hard time finding dates because of her height (fun fact: she was on the school's basketball team!). After they broke up, she quickly regretted her decision once she tried dating other guys. I imagine she had a weight in her stomach, telling her she messed up, but she tried to ignore it. I think she'll eventually meet other nice guys, but she'll never have a lover as attentive and caring as Izuku was in bed, lol. She learned to be more careful about taking unsolicited advice. For Shouto, this is perfect. His entire life, he craved love and affection, and now he has this person who absolutely showers him with both. Izuku is shy and nervous, so the fact that he gives so much of himself in bed, when he's arguably most vulnerable, is very important to Shouto. Unlike Izuku's ex, Shouto 100% understands what he has and doesn't take it for granted. I can't say I've thought of the *specifics* of their activities, but if I was going to assign them a kink, I'd probably say they both have their worship kink moments.

2. Lots of people requested a Shinkami sequel! I actually have no ideas. OTL I started writing a how-Hitoshi-and-Izuku-met prequel, actually, which probably very few people would have been interested in. I guess that's easier, because I had thought of their backstory already (I'm saying easy, but I only wrote three chapters before I stopped, so...). But as for Shinkami, I can't say I have many ideas as to how it would happen. I'm not even certain of POV. Hitoshi seems the obvious choice, to me, but Ochako's POV might be funnier. I briefly toyed with the idea of writing a wedding oneshot, for Izuku and Shouto. If I did, it would be in Bakugou's POV. So a very grumpy wedding! I did their wedding in my other fic, The Cupid Quirk, though, so for L, C, & R, I decided to just do the proposal. I didn't want to seem like I was writing the same thing, especially since the wedding in The Cupid Quirk is also told from an unconventional character's POV. The tone of L, C, & R is comedical, though, and part of me feels a Bakugou oneshot would be a little melancholy, since his feelings are so complex. At the end, Kirishima would drag him to the dance floor, though, and Bakugou would feel a little at peace with things. ShinKami would already be together at this point, but he and Kiri wouldn't, so Ochako and Kiri would still be roommates.

3. Lmao!!! Realistically, I think Yaoyorozu would stop her, since bachelor party duties would fall to her. Ochako would probably employ hijinks thoughout the night, though. Yaomomo plans for a nice restaurant, and Ochako gives the driver the address to a club. That sort of thing. And naturally something goes wrong—a wrong address maybe—and they get lost and in trouble. When Shouto finally returns home, he finds out for Izuku's bachelor party, Hitoshi took him to an arcade, then Denny's, and then finally took him home and they cooked an entire bag of tater tots, put them in a popcorn bowl, and watched a movie. Shouto is so exhausted and jealous, he buries himself in Izuku's chest and makes him hold him all night, lol.

4. I don't think Soba would be jealous! In my mind, most cats naturally like Izuku for one reason or another. He's very respectful of boundaries, due to his own bad experiences, and that applies to cats too. I think cats naturally feel very safe with him, Soba included. His chest is also a nice pillow. It probably does help though that Izuku likes to sleep on Shouto's right and Soba on the left. Izuku is also gullible, so Soba appreciates that he can sometimes trick him into giving him a second dinner after Shouto already fed him. Eventually they buy one of those "cat has been fed" boards.

As for Banjo and Kazooie, Ochako has a much harder time! It's not that they dislike her, but they miss Izuku, so there's a long sulking period. She feels like they're always disappointed to see her, because when she puts her key in the door, they think it's Izuku. Unlike Izuku, I don't think she's a natural with cats, but she won their affection eventually. It took a lot of treats, lol.
