The Google Pixel 4a was rumored to arrive on May 22 but according to a new report, the mid-range Pixel's launch has been delayed until June. This information comes from German blog Caschys, who claims to have obtained internal documents from Vodafone Germany which now list the expected delivery date of the Pixel 4a as June 5. This date is for the German market but it's almost certain that the rest of Europe will get the the Pixel 4a on the same day. The US, on the other hand, might get it earlier. There's no word from Google yet on when the Pixel 4a will be announced, but we may see the Internet search giant unveil the Pixel 4a during the Android 11 Beta Launch Show on June 3. The Pixel 4a is rumored to have a Snapdragon 730 SoC at the helm with 6GB RAM and Android 10. It will pack a 5.81" FullHD+ OLED screen and have two storage options - 64GB and 128GB. In terms of imaging, the Pixel 4a will sport a 12.2MP primary camera on the back and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front with an FOV of 84 degrees. The smartphone will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and have a 3,080 mAh battery under the hood, which will charge at up to 18W through a USB-C port. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlepixel4a #pixel4a #googlepixel #pixel #snapdragon730 #fhd #oled #usbc #android11 #germany #australia #usa #uk #india #launch #german #android10 https://www.instagram.com/p/CAFcPcqAmrZ/?igshid=17z8yv9n7ir0n

We've got Material Design 2.0 in play and a true-black dark theme for OLED fans out there. Plus, there's an embedded import/export tool in the overflow menu. Users can select which accounts to export and then, after verifying with device PIN entry or biometric authentication, display a QR code that can be scanned by another phone with Authenticator in the import mode. Google just put up an official blog post further detailing the new transfer process. Of particular note, the post is specific that no data is sent back to Google's servers during the transfer, it passes directly from one device to the other. The update is slowly rolling out, so you can try your luck at the Play Store or grab it from APK Mirror. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_googleauthenticator #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #authenticator #authentication #googleauthenticator #account #accounts #googleaccount #gmail #transfer #data #devices #update #australia #austria #iceland #usa #uk #canada #russia #france #switzerland #germany #spain #italy https://www.instagram.com/p/B_6h9IcgLV3/?igshid=62zffbln8m57

At launch, Google Lens was of very limited utility, but it's getting better. Today, Google has announced a raft of new text-oriented features in Lens, most of which are available to everyone today. In just a few taps, you can get text from Lens to your computer. If you don't know how to pronounce something, Lens can help with that, too. Lens already had text recognition, allowing you to pull text from the real world into your device's clipboard. Now, you can send that text to another device on which you're logged in with Chrome. After you select text, tap "Copy to computer" and pick a device. You can also have Lens read highlighted text now. Just look for the "Listen" button when you've highlighted text. Lastly, Google has expanded Lens' ability to pull up search results. After highlighting text, you can scroll down to get Google search results. Google says most users should have access to these features today, no app updates needed. All three new abilities are live on Android, but iOS users will have to wait on text-to-speech. Google says that will roll out "soon." . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_googlelens #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlelens #text #texttospeech #googlesearch #android #ios #listen #highlight #computer #copy #paste #australia #usa #uk #india #russia #switzerland #iceland #denmark #spain #italy #france #england https://www.instagram.com/p/B_5V_r7gOg4/?igshid=1380sybrbj7g1

First and foremost, the API can only be used for the development of apps for the official government public health authority to stop the spread of COVID-19. Also, no location tracking can be used, only Bluetooth can be leveraged for discovering contacts. This is because the Bluetooth can work indoors and it's enough to detect if you've been in close proximity to an infected person. There are some apps that have been released in some countries that rely on location services - Apple and Google say they will stay on their app stores but they can't use the API. Once the app is installed, it would require the user's explicit consent to broadcast their positive test result or any related info. No other info should be broadcasted in order to keep the privacy of the users. Regarding tests, they should be tied with a unique number, which in turn would be used by the user to register into the app. The tests with the unique number should be approved by the official governing body. This would eliminate the possibility of people broadcasting false test results that haven't been approved by the public health agencies or those who would "self-report". There could only be one app per country, though, as it would avoid fragmentation. There are some cases in which the country may decide to split the apps per region and in this case, Apple and Google will cooperate and make sure the proper app would appear in the said region when the user searches for it. The two tech giants also have the plan to release a system-level notification feature sometime this year. As for now, the API should do fine and they even released a sample for the UI. Here's how your local app may look like. The API would be made available only to developers appointed by their local government to make an app. Apple and Google will make the full source code available to those developers to speed up the process. . . . . #techies_page_apple #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #apple #api #developers #ui #report #privacy #location #australia #austria #france #germany #iceland #canada #usa #uk #india #switzerland #bluetooth #europe #hungary #italy #hungary #brasil #argentina https://www.instagram.com/p/B_1i2jZAIW5/?igshid=1c0vzcywmat8o

Google Drive gained a new privacy feature for its iPhone and iPad users dubbed Privacy Screen which gives an extra layer of protection with Touch ID or Face ID authentication when launching the app. You can have the new Privacy Screen feature appear at launch or delay it by 10 seconds, 1 minute or 10 minutes. The updated iPhone and iPad versions are already live on the App Store. The new feature is part of the latest 4.2020.18204 build which also brings stability improvements and bug fixes. Google warns you that some aspects like notifications are not completely protected by Privacy Screen. . . . . #techies_page_ios #techies_page_apple #techies_page_googledrive #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googledrive #drive #ios #apple #appstore #privacy #iphone #ipad #protection #touchid #faceid #feature #bug #australia #austria #hungary #iceland #usa #uk #canada #app https://www.instagram.com/p/B_1eCkqAeKC/?igshid=1p1ht3y34e0jp

On Monday, Google has begun updating Google Pixel devices all the way back to the Pixel 2 with the latest May security patch. Unfortunately, Google did not post any specific details as to what the update addresses other than “fixes critical bugs and improves the performance and stability of your device.” You can always check for the OTA update by heading into the Settings > System > Advanced > System update. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #googlepixel #googlepixel4 #googlepixel4xl #googlepixel3 #googlepixel3xl #googlepixel3a #googlepixel2 #googlepixel2xl #pixel4xl #pixel4 #pixel3xl #pixel3 #pixel3a #pixel2 #pixel2xl #pixel #update #softwareupdate #ota #securitypatch #usa #uk #iceland #australia #switzerland https://www.instagram.com/p/B_y7BnuA3Gt/?igshid=1bepf6sjue3z2

Creating a speaker group is a handy feature in the Google Home app as it allows you to cast media to multiple Google Cast devices simultaneously. The ability to add Google Cast devices to speaker groups was initially only available for Google Home smart speakers, Chromecast Audio devices, and other Google Cast-enabled speakers. In November of 2018, Google rolled out the ability to add Chromecasts to speaker groups in the Google Home app. Android TV devices have built-in Google Cast functionality but only now are they getting the ability to be added to speaker groups. In case you haven’t received this update to the “Chromecast built-in” app yet, you can sign up for the beta program on the Google Play Store. Then, open up the Google Home app to see if you can add your Android TV device to a speaker group. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_googlehome #techies_page_update #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlehome #homeapp #app #update #softwareupdate #android #androidtv #tv #tvs #googleplaystore #playstore #chromecast #smartspeaker #audio #speaker #group #australia #iceland #usa #uk #china #india https://www.instagram.com/p/B_wZ0dag3P7/?igshid=lmrvurlev04k

In a minor update to Google Assistant rolling out to some users, it’s now possible to directly launch games that you have purchased. Over on Reddit, user /u/dericiouswon noticed that they were able to launch the game The Turing Test by searching for “the turing test game” in the Chrome OS search box. The Redditor noticed that this search query opened Google Chrome and directed them to a URL under the “ggp.sandbox.google.com” domain, which appears to be where Google’s internal test server is hosted. Other users noticed that you can type the name of a game followed by “game” to launch a title—for example, entering “The Division 2 game” into Assistant will launch the game on Stadia in a new Chrome tab. According to 9to5Google, you can also launch Stadia games directly on Android phones with the app installed. The publication notes that on both Android and Chrome OS, you can launch a game that you own by saying “play [insert game]” in Google Assistant. Launching Stadia games through Google Assistant previously worked with the Chromecast Ultra, but now you can launch titles on all platforms where both Stadia and Google Assistant are supported. These smaller integrations demonstrate one area where Google Stadia is superior to Microsoft xCloud or NVIDIA GeForce NOW, provided you own an Android device or Chromebook. In the future, Google promises that Stadia will get deeper integrations with Assistant, but for now, all you can do with Assistant is launch games. . . . . #techies_page_googleassistant #techies_page_googlestadia #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googleassistant #googlestadia #stadia #android #chromeos #games #game #australia #iceland #usa #uk #canada #europe #spain #india #china #france #brasil #argentina #germany #switzerland #mexico https://www.instagram.com/p/B_wNy0DAenW/?igshid=ghcxvtdn84oq

Recently, there have been reports pointing towards a May 22nd launch date for the upcoming Google Pixel 4A. Unlike the current Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the Pixel 4A will be a more affordable model which will be catering towards the mid-ranger segment. With that in mind, we wouldn’t be expecting any high-end hardware like the Snapdragon 855 platform found among its other two sibling. Instead, the Google Pixel 4A will be utilizing an octa-core Snapdragon 730 SoC which was confirmed by its Geekbench 4.4.2 listing spotted today. The same listing also revealed that the device will have 6GB worth of RAM and runs on the latest Android 10 OS out of the box. In terms of performance, the Pixel 4A had achieved a really decent score of 2,529 points and 6,366 points respectively for its single-core and multi-cores test. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlepixel4a #pixel4a #googlepixel #googlepixel4 #pixel4 #googlepixel4xl #pixel4xl #6gbram #snapdragon730 #geekbench #android10 #snapdragon855 #usa #uk #unitedkingdom #unitedstates #australia #iceland #spain #europe #india #china #canada #switzerland https://www.instagram.com/p/B_uMYsVAmNR/?igshid=14v5lzw4c9jo6

Google Chat based on RCS arrives in Italy and Singapore. Last year, Google made the final push to enable RCS on Android-powered devices across the world. After enabling RCS in the US, UK, Mexico, and France using Google’s own servers via the Android Messages SMS app, the RCS-based Chat service is now going live for Android users in Italy and Singapore. Google Chat is an RCS-based platform that enabled the next-generation of SMS messaging – one that allows for sending of full-resolution videos and photos (with a limit of 100MB), shows when the recipient(s) is (are) typing, and supports read receipts, even across borders. Although there are many other instant-messaging apps available, RCS is important because it requires minimal setup and works out of the box. In H1 of last year, US carriers announced they were working on a cross-carrier app that would enable RCS across the States, and Google wasn’t having it. It wasn’t long after that announcement that Google fast-tracked the nationwide rollout of its Chat platform. The platform began its US nationwide rollout back in November. When you start a chat window with one or more recipients with Google’s “Chat” enabled, you’ll see “Chat message” in the input field. If the message will send as an SMS, it will say “Text message” instead. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #italy #singapore #rcs #android #usa #uk #mexico #france #sms #messages #h1 #unitedkingdom #unitedstates #india #china #japan #canada #australia #carrier #carriers #recipients #read #typing #spain https://www.instagram.com/p/B_rXS_Mgafk/?igshid=d4t6obqxss7t

A new heart icon has been spotted in Google Discover (née Feed), replacing the previous button that triggered the familiar more/less slider for tuning its content to better match your tastes. This isn't just a visual change in iconography, either, as tapping the new heart button doesn't open any menu, apparently and simply indicating to Google that you liked a given piece of content. So far, the change seems to be in limited testing. As mentioned, the heart button is more than just a change in the icon. Previously, tapping the dot-and-line icon spat you to the More/Less tuner you see just above. The two options do almost exactly what you expect, tuning your Discover content to show more or less of whatever you tell it. But with the new heart icon, all that happens when you tap it is the heart changes red — an indicator that you liked it, presumably. We don't have this tweak live on any of our own devices, so it's tough to say what other things it changes, but according to our tipster, options to tune Discover's behavior (like marking a subject as uninterested or blacklisting a venue) are still present in the three-dot menu. But if you liked the apparent granularity that the More/Less options provided, it seems Google is considering changing that. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #heart #icon #google #googlediscover #discover #slider #usa #uk #unitedkingdom #unitedstates #australia #canada #india #china #europe #southkorea #tap #tapping #tweak #like #liked #argentina #germany #spain #indonesia https://www.instagram.com/p/B_maT20AfGg/?igshid=1c8icuwsa1qye

The Pixel 4a has been leaking like crazy over many weeks, but so far Google has not made it official for whatever reason. In the meantime, Apple has introduced its mid-range contender for this year - the new iPhone SE - so now all eyes are on Google for the moment when it will decide to finally make its move. According to a new rumor out of Germany, the Pixel 4a may go on sale in the country on May 22. The information reportedly is from Vodafone, one of the carriers over there. The Pixel 4a could be priced at €399 in the Eurozone, which would be slightly less than the iPhone SE. In the US it's widely expected that the two would start at the same $399 price. The May 22 release date is said to have been spotted in internal documents at Vodafone, but as always don't forget to take any rumors with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, it's high time Google launched the Pixel 4a, given the barrage of leaks we've seen about it so far. Previous rumors have mentioned the Pixel 4a sporting a 5.81-inch OLED screen with 1080x2340 resolution, a 3,080 mAh battery with 18W wired charging, a 12 MP rear cam with OIS, and an 8 MP selfie snapper (with 84-degree field-of-view) tucked inside the hole-punch in the display. At the helm will be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 730 SoC. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlepixel #pixel #googlepixel4a #pixel4a #pixel4 #pixel4xl #snapdragon730 #12mp #oled #8mp #ois #qualcomm #fastcharging #iphonese #iphonese2 #iphonese2020 #apple #europe #usa #uk #australia #germany #vodafone https://www.instagram.com/p/B_mFtkTgXYL/?igshid=pz8jsrjau73

Google's first-generation Pixel Buds didn't quite live up to their initial promise, but we're hoping the second-gen earbuds will represent a significant improvement. Announced at the Pixel 4 hardware event in October 2019, we've had to wait a while for them to eventually become available, but it looks like their release is almost upon us. A new app needed to make the most of them is now available on the Play Store. Many Pixel owners are probably finding the app is being installed automatically on their phones this today, and on those phones it won't open as a standalone app. It's baked into the Bluetooth audio settings on the Pixels and will only surface when you actually connect a pair of Pixel Buds. On other phones, opening it takes you to a landing page asking you to 'Pair your Pixel Buds' before you can use the app (below). When you've got some Pixel Buds 2 (the original Pixel Buds are not supported) the app can be used to do the following things: Check battery levels Learn how to use touch controls Turn on/off Adaptive Sound Turn on/off in-ear detection Ring your earbuds to help find them Control your Assistant and spoken notifications Get tips and support Adaptive sound is an intriguing prospect that's supposed to change the volume level based on the noise in your surroundings. We'll have to see how well that works in lieu of active noise cancellation, which many rival earbuds now offer. All that's left now is for the new Pixel Buds to actually go on sale. Look out for our review when that happens to see whether or not they can cut it with the other top TWEs on the market right now. If you want to stare at that sweet landing page in the meantime, you can install the Pixel Buds app via the Play Store or download it from APK Mirror. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_googlepixelbuds #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlepixelbuds #app #pixelbuds #pixelbuds2 #googlepixelbuds #googlepixelbuds2 #apkmirror #playstore #googleplaystore #wirelessearbuds #earbuds #usa #unitedstates #uk #unitedkingdom #australia #canada #india #china #pixel4 #pixel #googlepixel #bluetooth #audio https://www.instagram.com/p/B_e5rGEgkQx/?igshid=1f0l4r6yqkbb0

Google has begun rolling out the third release of the Android 11 Developer Preview to several Pixel devices. Unfortunately, we don’t recommend anyone flash a Developer Preview build to your Pixel if it is currently your primary device, as it perhaps may not be stable enough. The update is dated on April 23 with a build number of RPP3.200230.017 and is security patched up to April 2020. Is is running with Google Play services 20.12.14. If you are already running the Android 11 Developer Preview, Google offers the ability to update to DP3 via OTA update. Google notes this update offers “bug fixes and a set of productivity improvements,” which doesn’t tell us much. Once Android 11 reaches the Beta phase, it will not only be somewhat stable for daily use, but it will also be much easier to sign up and pull the update OTA (over-the-air). Currently, the Developer Preview requires that you wipe your Pixel device’s data, so be sure to back up files before flashing. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_update #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #android #android11 #preview #update #softwareupdate #ota #overtheair #developer #improvements #bugs #bug #fixes #securitypatch #pixel4xl #pixel3xl #pixel3axl #pixel2xl #pixel2 #pixel3 #australia #uk #usa #pixel3a https://www.instagram.com/p/B_X7wa2Ak4m/?igshid=1dusuakvoaqw0

Editor in Chief of XDA-Developers Mishaal Rahman managed to get a hidden feature of Google Home devices to work and posted the screenshots to Twitter. Google and Nest Home devices that listen for the wake phrase: “Hey Google” will be given a new slider adjustment for tuning the sensitivity of the phrase. If your Google Home speaker is constantly firing off queries you didn’t ask it, lowering this sensitivity should make it so you don’t have as many false activations. As per Rahman’s Twitter thread, the new feature will work for both Google and Nest Home speakers and smart displays. We are still wondering if the option will only be added to Google and Nest-branded Home devices, or if other third-party Google Assistant-enabled devices will see the same setting as well. Following the initial posting of the screenshots, Google confirmed to The Verge that the feature has indeed begun rolling out, but “gradually”. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_nesthome #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #googlehome #nesthub #nestsmart #nesthome #googleassistant #heygoogle #okgoogle #sensitivity #speaker #verge #xda #rollingout #feature #twitter #usa #unitedstates #uk #unitedkingdom #australia #canada #russia #india #china https://www.instagram.com/p/B_T2FrkAUii/?igshid=z4kd380z5ob6

Subscriptions Google writes that going forward, developers will have to specify "whether a subscription is required to use all or parts of the app." If the former is the case, the prompt to pay should be easily dismissable. An app further has to explicitly state the cost of the subscription and the frequency of the billing cycle. When free trials are involved, developers will also have to add how long it will last, what it will cost when it's converted, what's included with the free trial, and how a user can cancel if they don't want to be converted to a paid subscriber. Long story short: Apps that just say "click here for a free 3-day trial" aren't okay anymore. If you still don't pay attention to these detailed descriptions when you sign up for a trial, Google added another safety net. Before a free trial or your introduction price ends, you'll get an email warning that you'll be charged going forward. The same is true for people who subscribe to 3-month, 6-month, or annual plans — they'll be notified when their renewal is coming up. Google also announced another game changer: "We notify active subscribers who uninstall the app that uninstalling does not automatically unsubscribe them from the service." Location Android historically hasn't been great at protecting your privacy, but recent releases of the OS changed that — Android 9 introduced more granular phone permissions, and Android 10 lets you prevent apps from getting your location while they're in the background. Android 11 is slated to step up that game and will only allow background location access to apps whitelisted by Google, as announced in February. The policy is now live, and developers can familiarize themselves with the changes before they go into effect November 2020 (or August 2020 for brand-new apps). . . #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #techies_page_playstore #googleplaystore #playstore #subscriptions #developers #app ##techies_page_google #android10 #android11 #os #androidpie #location #usa #unitedkingdom #unitedstatesofamerica #uk #australia #canada #russia #permission #freetrial #os #google #apps #email #whitelist #subscriber https://www.instagram.com/p/B_DMxyOAduw/?igshid=2hk2ashhou9f
