it's amazing how even in my school-related stress dreams 11 years after dropping out, i'm still a massive bitch.

last night i saw a video about how some kiddos these days have electronic hall passes that time how long you shit & i was like "oh, that's For Sure showing up in a nightmare tonight."

and indeed i did dream about being back in high school.

except in the dream i was at a table in my school library opening huge packages of candle-making and soap-making supplies, and the staff were like, "uhm, your lunch period is over in ten minutes," and i was like, "yup. i'm in the middle of something right now, tho. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" and then when the bell rang, the rest of the dream became about an increasing number of administrators and school cops coming down to try to pry me away from my candle-making hobby while i sat my ass firmly in my chair and went, "put your hands on me. i fucking dare you."

......which is.

I used to think I’ve never related to the “I think I know more about american girl dolls than you do genius” meme but then I remembered the truly insufferable man who worked at my local record shop and acted like I knew nothing about anything when I had been going there longer than he had.

my sister will periodically try to psychoanalyze my love of rewatching and rereading things + the fact that i love spoilers because she was talking about her own militant avoidance of spoilers as being about control & she was like ..... is it also control w you? is it a need to know how things will end before they start?? but also i'm the most chill and well-adjusted person in our family vis-à-vis not being a control freak so she just views me as an anomaly. in this & many other ways.

from what we've seen, it seems like Haruka is one of if not the most underrated/unpopular characters. which is wild! she's so interesting. she's been an idol since she was a child, put so much weight up on herself to be the perfect idol and inspire hope that when that reality was shattered for her she wasn't able to even move on stage, is autistic and has a special interest in penguins (she said her ideal vacation would be swimming with penguins at madagascar!), and is just an all around friendly person. people talk about how Minori must feel being around her as a huge fan, but what about Haruka! she starts interacting with this girl who clearly worships her and makes her a bit uncomfortable at first, but she handles the situation with so much grace despite what she's going through at the moment. her and Minori are able to become friends because Minori ultimately respects and loves Haruka the idol and Haruka Kiritani- and because Haruka treats Minori with respect and kindness, not just as an idol but as a high school girl.

Saw a post about the april 1st 2013 event that prompted tumblr to always have a sanctioned event as to not leave users to their own devices and must I say it made me nostalgic for 2012 tumblr. Everyone talks about 2014 tumblr as "the era" but I've been around since September of 2012 when my friend my high school (shout out mickey if you're still here girl hi!) Set me up with a blog and I was big into Disney and Broadway and I made alot of post about princesses and Broadway but my meat and potatoes was once upon a time. This blog thrived because I did live posts and reactions. Most of my followers are either deactivated or unfollwed me at whatever point I joined a sorority and didn't post on here for 7 years but I digress... it was truly a time to be alive. I was never a huge blog but in my fandoms I was a frequent flier in the tags. I miss it.

Eh, my own head canon is that the rift in 2015 wasn't some kind of I'm never speaking to you ever again, it's just the way more public-facing f/w/b situationship, none of which negates what was goin' on with the bears

Steph's new roommate's little brother was absolutely a meta.

The two of them weren't really trying particularly hard to hide it, but they weren't mentioning it either, so Steph just... followed their lead. Especially because Jazz, while a little neurotic, was a pretty good roommate and new some truly innovative things to make in the microwave with whatever was in their dorm fridge.

But anyway, back to the meta thing. Steph could totally back it up.

Jazz was from the Midwest somewhere, one of the "I" states. (Indiana? Illinois? Iowa? Steph could never keep them straight.) From the way Jazz talked about her parents and the things she said to Danny, Steph could tell that the Fentons still lived there and Danny with them. Yet at least four nights out of seven, without fail, Steph would come home from a long night studying or vigilante-ing to find Danny in their dorm room, usually passed out on the futon. As though Gotham wasn't halfway across the country from Indiana or Illinois or Iowa.

"Our parents are pretty loud," Jazz explained with a quiet grimace, the first time it happened. "Like 'keep you awake at all hours of the night' loud. I told Danny he could sleep here when he needs to, is that okay? Tucker's parents are great, but they'll kick him out eventually."

"As a sleep-deprived college kid, I wholeheartedly support sleeping wherever you can get it," Steph whispered back. "As long as he doesn't eat my half of the food, I'm not gonna tattle to the RA."

"Thank you thank you thank you!" Jazz squealed, flapping her hands. Steph darted a glance at the teenager passed out on their futon, but he didn't even twitch. "Oh, don't worry, you have to be loud enough to wake the dead to get Danny up," Jazz said with a smirk.

"Alright. Makes things easier, I suppose," Steph said with a shrug, moving to sling her backpack onto her bunk. "He gonna be here in the morning?"

Jazz narrowed her eyes as though Elder Sister Glare could penetrate dreams. Hell, maybe it could. "He'll be at school before you wake up, if he knows what's good for him."

School. Which should be halfway across the country. Sure. Well, Steph could recognize a topic that Simply Wasn't Spoken About and unlike the rest of the Bats, she actually respected her roommate's personal privacy. "Cool."

So. Definitely a meta. Teleportation, maybe? Or superspeed or flying, she supposed. Whatever it was, the kid was clearly only using it to get a good night's rest in a safe space, so it wasn't really Steph's business.

At least neither of them had noticed she was a vigilante. It was an impressive secret to keep in such close quarters, if Steph did say so herself.

Jazz had clocked that Stephanie was Spoiler in a week and a half. And it only took her that long because she was distracted by orientation. The girl wasn't exactly subtle. Especially not with her injuries. Jazz had three years of experience watching someone come home injured and try to hide it, and while she was better than Danny, it still wasn't good enough.

Still, Steph wasn't making a big deal of Danny portalling into their dorm half of every week. And, like she had with Danny, Jazz wanted Steph to trust her enough to tell her herself.

And if this meant that Jazz spent a good portion of her first semester figuring out the rest of the Bats' identities based on Steph's friends and acquaintances, well. That was between her and Steph's scary-but-sweet girlfriend who read her like a book as soon as their eyes met.

Imagining a scenario where Shen Qingqiu clocks some of the lingering tension between the peak lords and Luo Binghe after they get married, and so looks up what all the rights & privileges of a peak lord's spouse are (because really only the ascetic peak has restrictions against marriage), and then just like. Heaps them onto Binghe.

Fine robes and ornaments in Qing Jing's style. A title. Appropriate authority over Shen Qingqiu's disciples and junior sect siblings. Technically Binghe is also entitled to use of his own residence, and there's a building on the peak that is at least nominally reserved for the peak lord's wife, but it hasn't been used in a long time and Binghe would cry if Shen Qingqiu even suggested living in separate buildings (and Shen Qingqiu would also not like it but shhh). So he doesn't get that, exactly, but Shen Qingqiu does have the building freshened up and aired out as a place where Binghe can house guests from the demon realms, or potentially his own personal disciples (should he desire to take any on one day).

Binghe accompanies Shen Qingqiu to peak lord meetings in his capacity as husband, rather than disciple, which means Binghe also gets to sit at the table instead of standing behind Shen Qingqiu's seat.

But really just, Shen Qingqiu making a point of doing everything extremely officially to really drive home that he married Binghe, and he expects Binghe to be treated with respect and not suspicion or derision or any of the other bad habits that his fellow peak lords have displayed. Not just with Binghe, but also towards the original goods in the past (SJ might have been a piece of work, but the fact also remains that most of what his sect siblings thought of him was inaccurate). SQQ scraping up every bit of political acumen he can find from all the books he read and PIDW itself and his own history as the son of a wealthy family, and being like, "if I don't want Binghe to be bullied, I must make it clear that he has my favor!"

Meanwhile everyone already knows Luo Binghe is Shen Qingqiu's favorite, like man they know it so much already, more than they'd like to, but it's not like they can SAY anything because actually putting the right hair ornament onto Luo Binghe's head and making the disciples address him as Shimu is in fact more appropriate than all the other ways Shen Qingqiu displayed his favoritism so far. It's just driving several of the other peak lords slowly insane because it's backwards! The order of things is all messed up! Shen Qingqiu can't truly expect them to start respecting this disgraceful mess of a relationship now, can he?!

Of course he can. Also Yue Qingyuan is backing him up. (Yue Qingyuan actually finds this kind of amusing, because it's very on-brand for both versions of Shen Qingqiu to get embroiled in a controversial mess only to retroactively go "oh yeah, respectability politics are a thing" and then just try and brazenly bluff his way through it.)

Meanwhile Binghe is very much enjoying himself. Could he stop anyone in the sect from actually mistreating him in a heartbeat? Of course. He could kill any of them, they all know it, and Binghe is not unaware of how to leverage that kind of fear into compliance, if not respect. But then he'd have to go stalking around being tyrannical all the time, and he does that enough as the demon emperor.

It's far more enriching to let people be rude to him and then hang his head and "nobly endure" the mistreatment, just to watch Shen Qingqiu's eyes narrow and his fan snap shut before he lets out some cutting remark and then lavishes another sign of his favor onto Luo Binghe. Binghe's wildest teenage fantasies were made of this stuff! He's living the dream!
