Need more fics (send me your own writing even) of tfp soundwave adopting some random sparkling on earth. Like I have the plot but not the writing motivation right now

- Sparkling shows up on earth (groundbridge malfunction? Terrans esq situation? Just a baby for some reason? That's up to you)

- autobots vs decepticons, who can reach the sparkling first. Decepticons do, to the autobots dismay.

- autobots over hear vehicons, believe the sparkling is getting lowkey tortured. They comm megatron to see the sparkling and like proof that it is okay. Megatron informs them it's 100% fine and go luck getting it back

- "What do you mean good luck getting it back?"

- Megatron turns the camera around, Soundwave (I personally hc he gets a different frame to accommodate the sparkling because host coding is telling him 'new symbiote, new symbiote') is entertaining the sparkling. Whether it be tickling their stomach, bouncing them on his knee, or having them tucked against his side while watching monitors.

- autobots lowkey flabbergasted.

From there it's just classic silly sparkling shenanigans but I feel like for a bot who takes care of lil guys we don't see it alot.

I think it would also be cool for a fic where he kidnaps the prime kid(s) and then realizes that not only are they sentient but actually sparklings.

A detail about TFP Arachnid (along with TFA Black Arachnia) that I never see much (or at all) is that they are not respected as decepticons.

This is gonna be kinda messy and all over the place so bear with me ,:]

In Transformers Prime this is mentioned when Arachnid brings up twice I believe when she says that “The decepticons is more of a boys club” which is the reason why she deviated. We see this a bit with how Megatron and Starscream treat her, she’s not seen as much of a threat (either for being a femme or another reason) especially when first introduced, but as the series goes on we can really see her proving in her own way that she is a con that you want as an ally rather than an enemy. Seen with her sending an army of insecticons to kill Megatron, dealing with MECH, taking over the Nemesis (which would’ve been accomplished if not for Soundwaves interference), but after doing so is taken down from her throne and outcasted yet again resulting in the death of Breakdown.

I want to explain this better, but she’s not trying to prove her worth, she doesn’t need to, she’s proving she’s a threat and someone to be cautious with, no matter the situation. She is a capable, strong, and clever con who has proven this more times than anyone.

I want to say more for her like when she does show to be a dangerous and devious con shes knocked down in favor of other decepticons like Dreadwing, Megatron, Soundwave, or Starscream.

okay. so. first off. anon, thank you for sending me this because the idea that you read that post and just went- "hey, you know who i should pose this question to?" and sent it to me- is hysterical and i lvoe u.

hi! Texty time. I think a lot of them would have/be one but not the other (either has a STI or is a Carfucker) but i included some of those here anyway because i think my thought process was funny for some of them. this is all purely my own opinions etc. etc. no basis for anything only vibes. i went through a lot of options and came to a lot of conclusions.

to reiterate the Chart for claritys sake:

Soundwave: No STI and no Carfucking. This is true across all versions of Soundwave imo. Rumble and Frenzy are a solid no on the STI front and a solid yes on the Carfucking.

Starscream: no STI, no Carfucking (despite what Soundwave thinks). TFP!Starscream specifically might have an STI though. Sorry man. Skywarp definitely has/had a STI but gets it treated on account of his trinemates. No Carfucking. Thundercracker would fuck a car but doesn't have an STI.

Shockwave: ??? - I'm not sure I want to know. "Once, as part of an experiment" was the original thing I wrote for his answer lol. True across continuities as well.

Anyway. moving on...

My actual answer for Megatron: REALLY depends on continuity. Here's a sample:

G1? Yeah, probably both. I can see it.

IDW/MTMTE? Nah. Maybe? ... Nah. I feel like if he had an STI it'd have been back when he was a miner. Would not fuck a car.

Earthspark? I feel like no STI but yes to the Carfucking. Except he feels really guilty about it after. I still haven't watched ES but this is the impression I get from him.

TFA? oh god. i don't know... i don't know....... he probably fucks cars. No STI.

TFP? Yeah absolutely are u kidding me? Yes to both.

Constructicons: I feel like they'd be a yes to both, but not at the same time, so they wouldn't have been the one/s to transmit a STI to a car. Also Hook would be ON TOP of treatment. Once they ALL got infected after combining into Devastator, and that was miserable for everyone. Nobody has fessed up to being the one who had it in the first place, but now they have treatment on hand just in case.

Also while on the topic of combiners... I think some of the Stunticons are also pretty good candidates for STI/Carfucking. Motormaster, Drag Strip and Wildrider in particular shfkgbekfbk

I considered Tarn/The DJD and Overlord just because of how freaky them guys can get, but I think Tarn runs too tight a ship for that to happen, and Overlord is preoccupied with. worse things. The Scavengers on the other hand... sorry to Misfire, I can see him giving a car a STI. Relatedly, Grimlock would fuck a car but not have an STI.

Do you think other Bots or Cons recognize starscreams (tfp) slut waist. His heels don't help him either. Like I refuse to believe that no one's stares at him and just thinks of what they want to do to him. You could probably see a thick spike buldge his pelvis plating. He's also already whiny on the daily basis so add a cock or a fellow valve grinding on his and he's gone. You can't just leave him with one overload either. No no you need to leave him stupid. been discussing the idea of a tfp post-movie sparkeater! au with a couple of my moots (and somewhat inspired by @/helis97's au) where the dark energon left over in Starscream's spark chamber reanimates him after the Predacon attack and he mutates into a sparkeater (continuation of this piece) while being held in Autobot custody aboard the wrecked Nemesis. it also turned into a KOSS fake dating vampire situationship...

Starscream, unbeknownst to anyone including himself, has a spark immortality outlier, and after being killed by the Predacons at Darkmount was revived by it in conjunction with the shard of dark energon that remained in his spark chamber from when he tried to use it to revive Skyquake. A scouting team of Autobots find his corpse and witness his deactivated spark reignite firsthand and decide to bring him back aboard the nemesis to try to understand what exactly caused it to come back. They begin to float around the idea of potentially cloning his spark to reproduce the outlier, and plan to keep him online to further study the anomaly.

Knock Out is enlisted to repair him, as he knows how to do it best with what parts are available, and in doing so, discovers the early signs that something isn't quite right. Starscream is not retaining any of the energon being drip-fed into his lines. He seems to have lost nearly all of it from his systems, and yet still remains online.

When Starscream eventually wakes from stasis and is able to communicate with Knock Out, the first thing he notices is the purple color of his optics. Starscream becomes aware of a new extrasensory perception; everything around him seems to be in heightened definition, his senses are sharper, and he can 'see' others' sparks through their frames. This revelation especially unsettles Knock Out. He knows he has heard of this phenomenon before, but is unsure where. It isn't until movie night with the Autobots that it dawns on him: Starscream is a vampire... well, not exactly. His symptoms are exactly in-line with the early stages of a sparkeater transformation, and as it progresses, so will his need to consume the sparks of others. Knock Out knows that he must keep this revelation a secret from the rest of the mechs on board, otherwise who knows what they might do to Starscream.

Starscream grows fatigued, lethargic. Energon makes him nauseous, and he's having a hard time staying awake. He needs to feed on sparks to replenish his energy levels. Knock Out lures an unsuspecting vehicon into the medbay and the sparkeater strikes, acting on instinct and tearing through the spark chamber to devour the spark within. Knock Out watches on in disgust, resigned to his fate of having to do this on a regular basis, and works to clear up the mess and dispose of the remains.

The Autobots, primarily Ratchet, set to work on their plan to study Starscream's spark and work to clone it with the hope that the knowledge they obtain from their research could potentially be used to reignite Optimus' spark. They discover the odd state of his frame and the strange readings as the mutation progresses.

The pair come up with a lie: Starscream's frame is no longer dependent on energon due to the nature of his outlier, and he can subsist just fine on the energy transfer of a spark merge! The intimate nature of the explanation keeps the Autobots from asking too many questions. Starscream(aromantic) hates this explanation, but plays along regardless because it benefits them both and buys them privacy to continue their secret meetings so he can feed.

Time passes, and the mutation continues to transform Starscream's frame. His optics grow more light-sensitive, his faceplate splits and he develops the signature pharyngeal jaw of a terrorcon. He grows taller, sharper, practically growing out of his old plating as a new, larger jet mode presents itself when he changes modes. The final elements are the cables, six in total, each tipped with serrated blades for harpooning prey from short distances. He becomes more and more of a threat to the Autobots with each passing day.

Eventually, the Autobots begin to catch on. Vehicons have been going missing at an alarming rate, and the patterns are all leading back to Starscream and his strange mutations. Knock Out can't cover for him forever, and knows he will eventually have to come clean...

figured it was finally time to release this into the wild, and wanted to try my hand at writing something for it! there is a general timeline for how this all progresses as cybertron further develops post-war, and there's plenty more speculative sparkeater biology in the works. would love to answer asks if anyone has any :] more to come in a future post, stay tuned

BTWW, he literally got so angry about some stupid second-rate tv show that at one point instead of working he interrupted the recording of the report and started telling the news presenter everything he thinks about her and her programme, MY GOD. he's so dad core. he sits in front of the tv every evening and grumbles about everything that's on it and then retells it to everyone who gets in his way while they pray he'll shut up about politics for at least a few seconds

once again i would like to remind you that prowl is literally being used to explain someone's bad mood. i'm more than sure it happens on a regular basis. all over the cybertron

aaand still he's a cutie sometimes. look at him. he says it with such a tender expression on his face (which of course no one sees except the readers. no one will know he has feelings, nope!)

btw, i like headcanons about strongarm being amazed by prowl as a historical figure (usually in the tfp universe?) but i find it much funnier if their duo is "a dad and a daughter who is turning more and more like her father over time, what at first irritates her, but then she accepts it" (i am such a daughter)

can you imagine how prowl felt and acted when the connection to rubble was cut off? what did he do? did he freeze in shock? did he drop everything and rush off to find the boy? did he remember his duty and report to chromia first about this call? what was it like to look at the body of that child? to tell bumblebee what had happened? tell him that he was the one who had heard his last words, the words of desperation, pleas for life? of course he had often seen death, corpses, brutal murders, violence, but you never get used to it, especially when it concerns a young soul, not someone who's already lived their life. "rubble, what's happening?!" - i hear him calling boy's name over and over again and something inside of me tears up

How cool would it be if tfp Megatron wasn't loud with his words. Like, not like soundwave, he isn't sworn to silence, it's against his very uprising to be honest, but what if he was silent simply because words can only be used when they are at the chance of actually being listened too?

I believe a silent Megatron uses that as a basis for not really speaking too much, outside of announcements, and basic commands (that require more than basic context) as well as the fact he doesn't like, yell. He still tweaks out, absolutely, that's a core part of his character, but there's no dramatic yelling, an echoing "no" of despair, or curses targeted at prime and his team, or even quirky words of triumph. What if he's just... Quiet. Loud in actions and in appearance, what with the grey and purple frame, (rise up or die ig), and him still being just as physically hostile, it's just now coupled with the fact he can and will smite you with no word, as the smotten didn't deserve any.

When he's beating starscream, there's no rise to it, we get physical cues of what's about to happen and starscreams begging and whatnot, whatever makes you guys like the flying twig, but he doesn't't go on about how he failed, how he's amused, disappointed and whatnot.

He just,,,, steps up, and starscream knows what's going to happen.

It isn't predictable, but a few of Megatron's actions have a pattern, that I've noticed in the show tbh. Well, nothing really besides the obvious. He respects strength, he knows his own limits in what he can take on (predaking) he seems to lose all logical thinking when fighting Optimus prime which includes his ability to actually kill him, he can really know people at a glance(Jack, he sort of knew after the initial statement of "I'm stuck you have the high ground, why don't you just end it?" That this was basically another Optimus, just inferior and more Orion like and used it, of course reminiscing about Orion along the way).

A prime example would be the episode where he nearly kills Raf, it could still be just as effective, if not more, if he didn't say the witty line and without restrictions, would probably've kept trying to finish the job if it wasn't for the little showboating. Sure he's probably chuckle and flash his pointy ass teeth but he's still going for the kill.

As the audience it would be pretty neat to have to figure out his plans via contextual clues, what he was doing with the dark energon, his fight with predaking though could keep the dialogue I like it lots.

What if TFP ratchet had a Fem!cybertronian!reader as his conjux in the past, she was a nurse and worked with him in the hospital before the war, but as the war finally came they had to be field medics, that was when they were in the battle field, she suddenly got captured by the decepitcons, ratchet didn't have time to help her ( that's why he's a grumpy now days) they never got to see each other again, by the time she was captured she was tortured to give them information, she refused to say anything, being so loyal to the autobots cause can be very hard sometimes, after some years passed they gave up on her, let her there to rust in the darkest place of the nemesis. And in one of the missions the team got inside the nemesis to copy the data basis for some probably important mission, and they got too Depp in the ship, that's when they found a limp body on the floor, and found an autobot insignia on it, there was a very weak shine on her eyes, the bots decide to bring her to the base to see if they could save a lost autobot, when ratchet got the message he prepared the med bay he just didn't expect who he was going to help,he was shocked and got panicked , after he got her stable enough after some time he told his lore to the team, after she woke he got worried, but she was finally back to him after everything. Beautiful reunion happy ending yipeeeee ( srr I got carried away...and I really love the medics hehe,.srr again hope I'm not bothering)

I LIVE! sorry for not answering, needed sleep and then had to clean off the driveway. anyway! time to nuke the vibe!

12 - genuine cruelty. he puts up with enough of it on a daily basis from megatron and the other decepticons. he can handle that at work, but if he returns to his berth and finds that his partner treats him like shit, that won't fly.

apart from that, he's not a fan of filth. he may not be knock out, but he's pretty vain and takes care of his appearance, and he expects his partner to do the same. i'm not saying you have to smell like roses and fairy dust 24/7, and he's pretty understanding if you're dirty from battle or sweaty from exercise, but if you look like you got dipped in bacon grease and smell like mold, he's gonna notice.

17 - it was probably after he'd gotten ripped a new one by megatron again. he came back to his berth thinking that he needed to be on top during sex to relieve some stress, but... it didn't really feel right. he ended up having to quit halfway through because he was so tired from the events of that afternoon. turns out, he just really needed some comfort. it ended in him laying his oversized head in your lap, venting about his day. maybe an unsatisfying ending to the night, but hey, he's just grateful to have you.

20 - absolutely no bringing up other bots, ESPECIALLY megatron. that's a surefire way to get him jittery and anxious.

don't go too far with pain. he can handle some, but don't do anything that he'll have to go to knock out to get fixed. not only does it mar his looks, it's also embarrassing to explain, and not in a fun way.

also, don't go overboard with humiliation. calling him whore, slut, princess? that's fine. he's into that. but get too angry, insult his character, call him a waste of a bot, things like that, and he'll get genuinely anxious to the point where he has to stop. rule of thumb: if it sounds like megatron would say it, don't bring it up in bed.

AHHHH, I KEEP THINKING ABOUT IT!

Okay, I think the handling TFP/Aligned Orion Pax was weakened by the background inconsistencies that were supposed to ground his personality and motivations.

And that's why Orion Pax can come off as an asshole, weirdly tone deaf, or very naive, yet deep inside the revolution as a competent head.

It's as if the writers took so many cool things to prop up the guy, but let it compete with "How Orion Pax and Megatronus were Different" and made a mess.

And, depending on your view, it either was half-heartedly addressed or done masterfully.

Saltysaltdog did a really great analysis on Megatron's feelings of betrayal and humiliation of letting Orion Pax so close to everything, and it's found here: click

The biggest gripe I have with the whole thing with the characterization of Orion Pax is twofold: 1) the writers didn't leverage Orion Pax's unique, and let's be honest, precarious position, and 2) didn't expand deeper the fundamental differences that essentially broke Orion Pax and Megatron apart and started that catastrophic civil war.

The setup is there. Megatron and Orion Pax are distorted mirrors of each other. The major differences are driven by what was socially appropriate for them to consider as pathways.

The Cybertron that came to was deep in the grips of a well-established and well-entrenched caste system. In that kind of society, it isn't just money that decrees social mobility. The very hierarchy of the society is driven by cultural and religious norms on the "worthiness" of each group at various set levels. And from that "worth," it not only dictates the rights of the members in a caste but decrees the appropriate behavior and outlets as well as dictates how relationships between members of different castes are maintained.

So Orion Pax is a giant "FUCK YOU" to all of that. His very presence would have pissed off so many parties that isn't funny.

As in, I honestly believe he's alive because his initial seclusion from civilization had given him key skills and behaviors that saved his ass and Alpha Trion's personal care.

Yes. There would have been bullying. Yes. There would be complete resentment and hatred. Yes. There would have been social orstracism from his own colleagues.

Even individuals who are lumped with him as "caste climbers" or just sympathetic/pitying would have stayed away by the dangers of their own reputation being tainted.

"You're nothing but a bauble and an ornament. Merely a prized pet for Alpha Trion. One day, he'll lose interest, and that day, you'll go back to where you belong."

Orion Pax defied the appropriate ways of inclusion to their occupation and way of life. He doesn't have a frame or a specialized ability that's related to information. He has no achievements, no accolades, and doesn't even have a sponsored education from a prestigious university or any useful connections.

Orion Pax is both an outsider and a representative. He needs to be extremely mindful of everything: his words, his tone, his body language, his own work... are all subject to scrutiny.

(And it either shows his sneakiness that he's able to shake off all eyes when he descends down to the gladiatorial game, his ability to lie by omission or obfuscation, or his colleagues relief with him out of sight.)

That very grey area would have left deep impressions on him. It would explain his passiveness, the perceptiveness, the way he speaks, and the careful plans he quietly does by the sides in a need-to-know basis.

Violence can come in many forms. And in a world where your worth is tied to your caste, then Orion Pax should be deeply familiar with the various ways it can be soft, sweet, and utterly insidious. A velvet wrapped steel glove. A dagger from the shadows. A poisonous treat. A deal of bad faith. A betrayl from a kind face.

Remember: Ratchet went through the proper channels and with the appropriate frame to match his function. Of course, he has that shield against so many grievances and injustices as well as many prejudices that color his perceptions. Look at the differences in how he recounts the brotherhood between Megatronus and Orion Pax and the outcome of before the High Council.

Orion is both given privileges that Megatron and his cohort wouldn't have, but it's also a noose around his neck. He is severely handicapped by Alpha Trion's deliberate meddling to keep the reincarnated Thirteen/the Matrix's newest Prime nearby and simultaneously well-informed and in the dark.

Unlike the miner-turned-gladiator, Orion doesn't have that option for bloodsport. His too low-caste for the avenues of security by the high-caste, but too high-caste to partake in the low-caste culture. It's acceptable for them to be physically violent, to be in bloodsport, to solve their grievances with their fists.

It's vastly different to the complete ruination of an individual's life that Orion got thrown into the deep end: reputation, finances, personal and professional relationships, involuntary reformat... The power games of the higher-castes are completely different ball-game.

He's stuck with his own thoughts because there's no way he can voice doubts to Alpha Trion (the mech who gave him such a position, advice, and unrestricted access to the archives) nor to his colleagues (who either hate his guts or would sell the information because information is power and the Hall of Records is a major point of power).

Look at the people he attaches himself to. They're rather straightforward: Megatronus, Ratchet, Jazz, Bumblebee, Arcee...

He's drawn to their ease yet still holds himself in a certain degree of formality because that's how he managed to survive in a snake pit. And that's too deeply ingrained into him at that point. People read that negatively. Megatron once saw that but didn't understand what it truly meant. Megatron saw his willingness to give up so much and his privileges, but he didn't understand the extent of the scars that Orion mentally and emotionally has.

Ratchet would be one of the few that really perceives that. The medic may not fully understands but he keeps trying, and the war eventually breaks down the barriers.

It would make so much sense about his strange notions, why he doesn't allow Megatron explore "his" world, why he keeps everything to himself, why he relatively comfortable with others outside his "caste."

This guy would literally ruminate the entire work day (both legal and subversive) until he fell asleep after rechecking the locks 27365837 times so an assassin or unfortunate "pet" didn't come into his room.

This could explain why he basically highjacked the damn meeting. Orion Pax has unrestricted access to many records. He knows his history. He can read between the lines. His A-game was on, especially in this endeavor.

Was it a well-intentioned plan to draw fire to himself because he had Alpha Trion’s strange degree of protection compared to the others? Was it panic because he knew all the ways to kill a person until death was mercy? Was it Plan 27-b because he thought all the ways it could go wrong? Was it his well-honed instinct demanding him to divert and pacify, but careful with the words (soft and fluttering with hidden danger with what is unsaid) to keep avenues open because to have the Primacy bestowed upon them would be an honor and completely legitimized the movement? Did he see the noose closing around Megatron and couldn't bear witness to have it strangle him, too?!

There's so much going on here. It all hinges on cultural absorption and clashes and the meddling by an ancient fart of an oracle, and it's just so tragically fascinating.

Yo, I cannot even begin to explain to you how interesting I find the bond you’ve created between Starscream and Soundwave. And Starscream and Knockout. And Starscream and Optimus. You do such a great job building the connections without outright stating them, but using context clues that allow the reader to kinda sorta create a name for the bond themselves while still also outlining exactly what they are.

Soundwave’s loyalty to Starscream after he saves him from Megatron, admitting his faults, begging for forgiveness for what he did to the timeline because of something selfish. Soundwave knowing Megatron isnt the mech he swore his loyalty to all that time ago. Seeing Starscream as a mech he can follow and will follow, not only because he saved him, but because he’s a better leader now than Megatron will ever be, cause disregarded because it doesn’t matter.

(I especially think the commandeering the Autobot showers scene was excellently played. It really showcased a side of Soundwave that made him even more enjoyable and endeared him not only to Starscream, but to the readers as well.)

Not only am I a HUGE Soundwave fan, but I’m very aware of how difficult it is to characterize TFP Soundwave specifically. I’m a huge fan of how youve chosen to do it, and just all of the characters in general. You make them work so well, with where and when you’ve put them!

Oh my goodness, writing for Soundwave is such an interesting challenge! He was given very little personality in the show and while some may find that it makes him difficult, it actually creates this wonderful slate to work with. Because he gives so little, it means you can allow more! We only saw blips of how he conducted himself in very specific situations. But how would he proceed given a more drastic, or even more complicated, situation? Soundwave is always going to collect information to give to Megatron; what happens when that information doesn’t have an answer to a big WHY? or HOW? Soundwave deals in rumors, yes, but he also needs basis and facts for those rumors. That’s actually what gave him his initial pause before running to Megatron in the first place; not having reasons and information to answer such big questions. And then it turned into so much more by the end. Soundwave lives and breathes loyalty to Megatron and his cause, but his pause before giving Megatron anything regarding Starscream’s collection of the relics and even his ‘future sight’ is what gave him a look into Megatron’s mental decline. Things were wrong. The obsessions were unhinged. The orders weren’t adding up towards a victory in the war Cybertron suffered for unfathomable years. All of this, all the situations and events that Soundwave was exposed to gave me a wonderful board to have him play off of and it was a delight to flesh him out more as an individual instead of the ‘background tattletale’ and ‘guard dog’ that the show titled him as.

And this is the same for the rest of the cast. They’re dealing with critical situations, some of which they can’t tackle because they had no answer at the time. Tweaking the events allowed myself as a writer and all of you as readers to digest different aspects and characterizations of these wonderful mechs, femmes and humans. A show is a show and it’s meant to entertain and I respect that wholly. In a 20+ minute episode, there’s no time for a proper conversation about a traumatic experience without it taking over completely and making it a three-parter. I’m glad you enjoy the way I’ve written these characters and pushed them to grow and I hope to continue that trajectory onward.
