Who's your favorite philosopher of the enlightenment? Locke? Voltaire? Rousseau? WRONG.
Diderot is the greatest philosopher of the enlightenment because he was the only one who did shit.
Voltaire was all bark no bite, Locke had his head so far up his optimistic ass that he couldn't have implemented any of his ideas if he tried, and Rousseau was Rousseau.
All of the enlightened philosophers believed in and advocated for equal education yet Diderot was the only person to actually provide it.
With his Encyclopedia he managed to distribute knowledge regardless of social class. It started out only for the rich but with modified versions, thinner paper and less pictures, he was able to make it cheaper and available to all. It became a household item that could teach people anything they needed to know.
Was it free schooling? No. But, as a commoner, it was both the most he could do and the biggest step towards indiscrimant education that any philosopher had ever taken.
Diderot is THE best philosopher of the enlightenment, period.

You know one thing I've found so funny about Chuuya in WAN! is that despite how much he complains when he has to be around Dazai he still chooses to hang around him.
Like the flower gazing episode, THEY ARE LITERALLY SITTING WITH THEIR BACKS TO EACH OTHER. So as someone who claims to 'hate being around Dazai' he sure goes and decides to sit near him. And like it's not that no one else would change places with him. All he had to do was ask Akutagawa and he would take his seat without question.

As a Polish person I LOVE Iceman being Polish or at least having some Polish family members so I will share with you 100% accurate headcanons I've created (some additional Icemav too)
● When something goes wrong or Ice is mad he will curse in Polish
● Ice mastered the art of making pierogi and bigos
● In his household the trash can is ALWAYS under the sink and he keeps cleaning cloth on the oven handle - don't ask why it's the rules
● One day the whole 86' class came over and Maverick got confused because he couldn't find the trash can
● Ice is more likely to speak Polish when drunk or sleep talking
● Ice is very difficult to get drunk
● Ice is most likely a Catholic so when he was younger he got really torn apart after realizing he was gay and will go to hell
● Later after meeting Maverick he knew it was a very good reason to go to hell
● For some reason Ice loves disco polo but will never admit it - 86' class doesn't even know the meaning behind all of the songs but will vibe nonetheless
● On Ice and Maverick's wedding reception there was a disco polo band and when Ice got absolutely hammered he sang along and danced - Slider got it all recorded and it's a fantastic blackmail material
● Ice visited Poland a few times - few during communist times and few after
● Ice hates Warsaw and loves Kraków
● When he took Maverick to Poland he lost him for a while and later found his husband befriending babcia
● As a Polish person Ice is very hospitable so he didn't mind Dagger Squad at his home all the time
● Ice learned the lyrics to Biały węgorz aka. The polish cow song

this might be what the kids call “niche posting” but. you know how if 2018 dennis reynolds and 2005 mac mcdonald ever met, they would be in love but SO repressed and full of frustrated yearning and painful communication, 200K words slowburn angst style, while 2005 dennis reynolds and 2018 mac mcdonald would immediately have sex, no questions asked, like, right there on the floor, wherever they are, you can stay or you can go but it is happening ?
ok, along that same line of thought: we know crowley as played by david tennant and aziraphale as played by michael sheen are the dictionary definition gold standard of yearning and miscommunication etc. but if crowley were played by michael sheen and aziraphale were played by david tennant, well. that would be asking way too much of the audience to believe that they hadn’t been fucking each other stupid since 4004 BC

I just realized that Will didn’t get the actual gathering experience for so long. His first one was interrupted by the Kalkaras, maybe he went to the second one, but his third? His fourth? The ones where he should have been celebrating, the ones where he should have been making friends and meeting the other rangers that he could have looked up to? He was in Skandia, forgetting everything because of warmweed. He was fighting in wars, battling enemies so much larger than him, and he was doing it almost entirely alone. He didn’t get to sing songs and show the other rangers his mandola, or yell to them Greybeard Halt, for at least 4 years. He barely got the full ranger experience until he was an adult.

I think half of the reason that Snape is so popular is that he's a canon redeemed villain...the other half is that he's allowed to be bitter and petty against the people who hurt him.
I agree.
I think (maybe it’s just my personal experience, idk) Snape gave us what we couldn’t get in real life. Snaters are prime examples of people who tell victims of abuse to
• “get over it”
• Because “it wasn’t that bad”
• “But you did *this* so in my eyes they did a Justice”
• And “what exactly did you do before that happened? That’s why it happened to you”
• And let’s not forget that “being angry and impacted long term by the actions of others (AND their lack of consequences) isn’t called trauma, it’s called “holding grudges” and that’s childish”
For us, it was a damn statement that he held on to that shit. It was relatable that it affected him well into his adulthood and that he didn’t tolerate anyone telling him to do and feel otherwise. The books, whether Snaters want to admit it or not, laid it out: he was valid for hating them.
Even Harry saw the bullshit after he witnessed swm
And, like we see with Snape, trauma is villainous apparently. Because how dare what we went through negatively shape our thoughts, feelings, and perspectives? How dare our trauma force us to put up a wall around ourselves and become cold and unlikable as protection? How dare we do stupid things in hopes we’d be accepted SOMEWHERE because god knows the rest of society doesn’t give a shit…How dare us?
And how dare Snape show us that traumatized ppl don’t have to be lifeless husks but brave mfs who will die to save the rest of the ppl who were too busy judging others to do it themselves. Let’s be honest, most ppl who hate on Snape wouldn’t have half the balls to do what he did…
Snape was a voice. That’s why I think he’s popular. Some ppl don’t like the voices of victims…that’s why he’s so hated.

Curing Pit-Madness
I know we as a phandom love bomb-ass Danny coming in to the DCU and healing/fixing Jason's Pit Madness.
But Danny, as much as I love the boy, is pretty oblivious. Do you really think he'd recognize by looking at a person or ghost what's wrong with them? Because I dont. If it's too cold, he can't recognize a ghost directly in front of him.
I think itd make more sense if all Danny showing up did was let the BatFam know that ectoplasm existed.
One of them would realize ectoplasm and Lazarus pits were very similar.
Tim would mad scientist up some sort of invention for Jason. Maybe it'd give him ambient ectoplasm, maybe it would purify the pit water inside him, I don't know.
But Tim saving Jasons sanity? A perfect way to get rid of any lingering tension between Hood and his Replacement.

okay also which planet from tlt would each asoiaf great house be from. i do think the north serves some ninth vibes and also bc i think sansa deserves a goth veil and thinking abt catelyn’s eyes trying to adjust to the darkness of the planet when she moves there
targaryen first house, self-explanatory. sole survivors of an apocalypse only they can remember and saw coming and failed to prevent and maybe also caused. closer to gods than men. lol. arryn second house on account of they never ever shut up about discipline and honor it’s where ned stark gets it from. lannisters for third obviously for twin enmeshment, body horror, and obscene wealth reasons. i’ll go martells fourth house because of the ways in which doran specifically uses quentyn, arienne, and each and every one of the sand snakes as operatives in his decades long plan despite them all being so so young. tullys fifth they watch the river :) i like hightower sixth house they’re constantly mixing in with the maesters and the faith in the same way. seventh house is whoever currently holds harrenhal. I don’t know if there’s a clear analog to the 8th that isn’t the Hightowers but I already said them.
but the ninth, the rapidly aging and fallen from grace death cult who guard a sacred structure because they are told if it ever falls the world is going to end but have lost any understanding of its actual purpose to time and ritualizing the act of guarding it? that’s the nights watch.

now that we know that marcus and lissie are actually a thing (thanks james)
i have one question
WHEN??? because if james found out after long beach, it had to have been going on for a shorter while before that.
the lissie SM episode came out the 27th of march, long beach was the 16th of april, so james potentially found out around the 20th april.
so it would make sense if they started dating after the SM episode was *recorded*, got together after it got released
OR at the long beach GP itself bc lissie was there
then james and clem found out after in malibu, over THE FUCKING PHONE (that’s a low blow marcus)

"I may process moments and thoughts differently, but it does not mean that I feel any less than you."
Okay. I don’t usually make serious posts, but I felt like this was something worth discussing. Now the episode hasn’t even been out a full day, and I’m already coming across a few people fretting that Tech is going to get ‘called out’ by others for being a ‘dick’ over the way he pointedly questioned Omega “what is your issue” and the way he has been at continuous loggerheads with Wrecker.
Now I know there has been a lot of ‘if’ing and ‘r’ing about the confirmation of Tech being autistic, whether it’s a canon thing or whether it’s just up for us to decide and interpret. Well I’m here to say that I think this is possibly the biggest indicator we have had for Tech most certainly having autism. A common condition that people with autism can have as a facet in their characteristics is that of alexithymia: problems with feeling/expressing emotions.
I’m no psychiatrist by any stretch of the imagination and I certainly don’t claim to speak on the behalf of every autistic person (that would actually be impossible seeing as the web of characteristics/conditions is incredibly diverse) but as an autistic person myself, I can tell you the way Tech has been acting in this episode is completely understandable and valid. It hasn’t been pleasant or very helpful for his siblings, but it is understandable nevertheless.
By nature, Tech has always favoured taking a methodical, logic-fuelled approach to situations in order to derive a conclusion/solution. He has rarely found himself caught in a situation where this approach does not yield a sure-fire course of action, where complex emotions are involved (hence why he mentions Crosshair here because this is potentially the only other situation he can liken the emotional turmoil to). It is common for alexithymic people to have outbursts of frustration when they find they cannot adequately register the intense emotions of others or in turn express their own in a way that is understandable to their peers, such as upset, grief and confusion. In lieu of Echo’s sudden leave, the whole Batch, Tech included, are probably feeling all three at this moment in time.
This explains his tendency throughout the episode to lash out and argue with his siblings, notably Wrecker, rather than take the generic, empathetic approach of talking out his emotions with them and going through the motions together (simply because as previously said, he is incapable of this). I can tell you that this must very isolating for Tech in a time more than ever when all he would want is comfort and reassurance also. This doesn’t register with the rest of the Batch because Tech’s own emotional strains are not being generically expressed due to his own separate set of neurological circumstances. Albeit they are not recognising his own internal struggles.
Tech is caring and protective of his siblings, there should be no doubts about this. He can see the impact the Empire has had on the Batch and how it has now effectively caused two of their brothers to leave the fold. Albeit, he is more than foresightful enough to see how small and fragile the Batch has become and the trepidation of this could very well all but be fuelling his frustrations. There is every chance he is experiencing his own sense of loss and abandonment through all of this, while still trying to be rational and level-headed one of the team. I believe that for the first time, we actually see Tech struggling to come to terms that he is officially out of his depth in this area and therefore is out of control in the situation, a concept very alien and disconcerting for him. Throw in a still-cognitively-developing child, a headstrong, very emotional, child-like individual with adhd and a team leader that is very prone to characterological self-blame and emotional withdrawal on the back of this, and I would say Tech has still been managing everything remarkably well, all other variables considered.
I am really glad that they are showing these characteristics to us within this dynamic where the Batch do consider each other family and therefore pull together and get through whatever crap the galaxy throws at them. It is these traits and tendencies that are projected by Tech in this episode that are a very common reason autistic people are scorned, ridiculed and segregated off by their peers irl. Even though we cannot generically express it, we deeply appreciate those that stick by us and try to understand us during periods of emotional uncertainty, disarray and stress.
It touches me to see that despite the Batch not always being able to see eye-to-eye with Tech and vice versa, they will still accept each other for who they are, quirks and all, and love each other. I only wish people could learn from this

Ok, ok I need to get something off my mind. I’ve been rewatching Father Brown, and I’m at the point where Sid is no longer a regular. And I just wanted to state we have learned more about Mrs. Devine’s background in the one series/season she was in than we learned about Sid in the entire 4 series he regularly appeared in.
Like we know she is widow, and has an adult son. She enjoys the theatre, and acts in plays often.
What we know about Sid’s background
Originally from London.
And he moved to Kembleford when he was young.
Has a Nan/grandmother that he visits sometimes. ( and wanted her to lie to the police )
Literally that is all
He is still one of the most popular characters in the series. Yet we have like little to no info on his life !?

Idk, if I was Danny and I just found out that I was ghost king, the first thing I would do is install ghost therapy. Like I know the ghosts are compelled to fulfill their obsessions but there gotta be healthier and less destructive ways to do it.
Like Skulker for example, he could become a detective and hunt for missing persons instead of, you know, trying to skin a child. Or Ember could make a fucking Spotify or something idk.
The second thing I would do is make Clockwork do the worm.
