"Someone spotted you when you left the tattoo studio", Oscar said as he stepped inside the apartment after having spent the day in the Center, noticing you were wearing a cardigan even though it was a warm day out, "they posted a picture online".

"So it's not a surprise, is it?", you slumped your shoulders slightly, shrugging the cardigan off.

"I don't know what you got, so it's still a surprise, sweetheart", he smiled, hugging you and being mindful of the wrap around your arm.

Oscar sat on the sofa and allowed you to model the new tattoos for him. Your right arm didn't seem to have any new ink to it, the same three tattoos you had in there still looking beautiful after two years. You like the idea of having one arm slightly more bare than the other so your right arm only had those three on the inner side of it, peeking through whenever you were sleeveless tops. Your left arm was the one where the tattoos were the most noticeable, the ink pieces scattered along the extension of the limb.

"I got this one, it's a bee", you pointed to the inner part of your arm, "it represents my safe hive, the people who are always there for me even if I'm not there in person", you explained. You had moved in with Oscar a couple of months ago and, more than ever, you spent long periods of time away from your family since you travelled to see your boyfriend race as much as you could, "I know I can fly away, but no matter how far and how hard times can be, I'll always be able to come back".

"It looks so pretty, the detail on the wings is so precise", Oscar pointed out.

"I chose the artist at that studio because she is great at doing the fine line tatoos with red ink", you began again, smoothing out through wrap so Oscar could see, "it's a heart with some flowers blooming from it", you pointed to the anatomical drawing, "whenever I set myself to do something, I pour my heart and soul into it, and my intuition hasn't failed me, so it's a little symbol to that".

"The red is somehow both subtle against your skin and so eye catching as well, I think it's the contrast with this one here", Oscar lightly touched an older tattoo you had next to the new one.

"Then I got this one, which I am quite nervous to show you, actually", you admitted, looking at your right wrist and covering it for the mean time, "I know people are really fussy with having a relationship tattooed on you because things can change so fast, but I don't like to think like that - my tattoos represent times of my life and things that happened - and if anything happens and I can't absolutely tolerate it, I can always remove it", you shrugged your shoulders before uncovering it.

Oscar held your hand and inspected it gently - the thin knot was both black and red, symbolising you and Oscar with the different colours but tied together seamlessly.

"I had to get it on my right one because I wear my watch on the left", you mumbled and a little twinge of nervousness could be spotted in your tone given that he hadn't said anything, "do you like it?", you bit the bullet.

"I love it, it's so beautiful, delicate and feminine too", he smiled, kissing around it.

"I also got a lightning bolt here", you twisted your wrist, "this one is just black and it's quite tiny, but it's about all the times I insisted and persisted - my stubbornness too - and how much I value that in people", you smiled.

"You're stubborn? Never would have guessed it", your boyfriend teased, earning your giggles and an eyeroll from you, "the line is so beautiful, she did an amazing job!", he complimented.

"I also got my first neck tattoo", you mumbled, "well, it's the first time I do it there, not sure if that means I'll do another because it hurt a bit more than I expected", you blushed, letting Oscar pull your hair back so he could see it.

The red inked word was aligned with your ear, "I chose the word rare because it's a devotion to myself, my self-love - accepting that I'm not perfect and that that is okay - I love myself the way I am and it's also a lot thanks to you", you tried to keep the tears pooling on your eyes from falling, "you loved me for me, all of me, no matter how many times people liked to point out any of my tattoos or how I don't fit the 'wag role', and I want a reminder of it everyday", you smiled.

Oscar cupped your jaw gently, careful of the sore area as he kissed your lips in a hard, long, searing kiss, joining your foreheads afterwards, "I love you, Y/N, all of you", he whispered.

Congratulations Djo!!

Djo recently became No.1 on Spotify Global with End of Beginning and was awarded the BritCertified Silver Award with EoB as well!! 🎊

A huge congratulations and celebration for Djo. Words cannot describe how much I love this song, but I’ll try. ✍🏽

End of Beginning released September 16th 2022, a time where I was really struggling, two months after I was losing my ability to walk, my FND was getting gradually worse and it was before official diagnosis in November 2022. Funnily enough, was the 16th. I drew the initial pencil sketch on the airplane while listening to the song, how cool is that?? Haha

I’ve had a lot of thought and while listening to the song, I released I don’t have a ‘Chicago’. Instead of a place, it’s people. Versions of me that I was when I have had these friendships, relationships and passings with folks. Certain songs and my art that hold so many memories, that I can look back on and see how much I’ve changed, improved and grown.

Djo, your song, your music as a whole has really helped me out during such an incredibly difficult time and saved me more times than I can count.

I’ve been enjoying your interviews and listening to you talk about EoB but also the DECIDE album as a whole. Plus learning new things and getting to know more about you and your music has been delightful.

I’m so thankful and grateful I am able to listen to it and be alive to this day to see you grow as a music artist; to witness you do creative and passionate things. The things you love.

I don't have all the details figured out but I'm thinking she worked a few odd jobs diligently around the village to get her own place and find her own life once she finally flew out of the nest (which took her a while - not that that's unusual, adults may very well carry on in their childhood homes, but she wanted to get out finally). Again, [waves hand for important details] but if her brother Fen had anything going on she likely worked for or with him, they probably helped each other out as much as they could since their father was pretty much a ghost in their lives at this point.

[Nan has two siblings - brother Fen is the one that's still around. He's doing quite well for himself! He's fully integrated into the village and has a huge family with two ish partners.] [Siru babysits Fens grandchicks often!]

Nan has grown rather distant to her brother by this point - not out of bad reasons though, it's just what happens when you both grow up and start families and move around and all such. Their relationship definitely suffered during the.... Ehem. Mr V incident, but hey they've recovered alright! Fen has tried his best to help Nan since, but ykno. There's just this kind of silence between them. It's the feeling of sharing such deep and intimate history with alot of sore spots and knowing you could talk about it all together and become closer again but. Where's the time for that? Where would you start? And when? And why? You both know all those things already. You grew up together. When are you returning that tray I brought meat pie in, by the way? My partner in law's eldest wants it for a baking project. Ykno. As it goes.

Nan's other sibling, the absent one, has always been a.... We don't talk about Bruno situation let's say. But she's called Kulkuri ("Wanderer" 🇫🇮), not by her account, FYI.

But yeah let's just say Nan and Fen grew up fairly isolated and certainly not well off, so it's understandable they'd always sought stability in their lives and future partners (that's what attracted Nan to Mr Varpunen initially).

My favorite fact about her is most likely her pinecone cow hobby it's. Sooo silly I love her for that. It's such a unique way to artistically express yourself and it feels like an Old people hobby but it just fits her so perfectly. Mwa<3

ARTIST WELLNESS

Hello everyone 🤗

I shared this on Artfol and thought this might come in handy for artists here on Tumblr.

I wanted to create a collection of artist wisdom about physical, emotional and mental well-being for all artists.

SO PLEASE REBLOG THIS POST WITH SOME TIPS/ HABITS THAT HELP YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF . I'D BE SO GRATEFUL!❤️

I'd go first. These are the things I try to do or keep in mind to take care of myself.

1. Every Sunday, I do a deep stretch. I focus on my fingers, wrist, arms, shoulders, neck and back. The entire art making process puts a toll on our bodies (and posture :)) so doing these stretches helps to loosen up the muscles. I just search artist stretches (or *insert muscle here* stretches) on YouTube and do whatever I like. 💪

2. I have a pomodoro timer app. I have adhd so it's hard for me to keep track of time when I am working on an artwork. I work for 25 mins, then take a break for 5 mins. During this break, I get up, take a stroll, drink water, eat something, lightly stretch and look at non-screen objects or talk to my family. 🪻🌼

3. I keep the curtains open in the room where I am doing art. I am lucky to have a park near my home so I get to see trees, but even looking at the sky or having open space helps with creativity. 🌳🌳

4. Before any art practice, I take a soft cloth and gently wipe my tablet and stylus. I want to feel gratitude for having the resources to create art, so I touch them and feel their texture and send thanks to their service (very Marie Kondo of me ik 😝). I do the same with my pencil colours and sketchbooks and such. It helps me emotionally feel more connected to my supplies and art in general. 🧘‍♀️

5. Because I have a timer app, I also sometimes use it to switch between artworks. This is something that I learnt on Artfol (shout out to the community ❤️) but it helps when I am feeling frustrated with the one I'm working on.

6. I try to NOT do art everyday. This is more for adhd reasons because when I go into hyperfixation mode, my life is consumed by the said hyperfixation and I burn out. I love art and I don't want to do it so much that I start hating it. Yk like those songs you listen to too much that you can't stand them. So take a day (or days) off! It's important to have hobbies independent of art. 🏋️‍♀️📚☕

7. Social. Media. Detox!!! Who doesn't love sharing their art and getting compliments?? No one. We are all human and praise makes us happy. We feel seen and heard. But social media is a bit bittersweet. I love sharing art, but when it doesn't get attention, I feel rejected. I love looking at other artists' work, but sometimes I can't help but compare. It's human psychology. So either put a timer on the apps to limit usage or take a day off from them altogether. I do a bit of both, depending on my mindset and dopamine levels on the day tbh. 🐾

I'm happy to say that I've finally reached the point where I'm satisfied with my artsyle, and I'm quite proud of myself for being self-taught!🌷

I'm also glad to have this place to post my silly drawings, although is just a small space on the internet, I love having the opportunity to show what I do, exchange opinions with people and meet a lot of amazing artists!!🪻

I uh. Used to never say I had a favourite bc I have SO MANY favourites.

But I have never been so utterly consumed with obsession over everything lyrics/instrumentation/vibes like I have with Sleep Token.

(Ok ok Polyphia is my favourite instrumental band though they’re tied but in different ways 😁)

I think the reason why I keep pushing my comfort zone for Dnf stuff is I’m just trying to try as many artistic things as possible in this fandom so that i can try cooler stuff in the future ig? It’s fun to make dolls (I don’t think I’ve shown my art dolls here will do if you guys are interested haha) and animations and other cool stuff of Dnf they make me so happy heheheh 🫶🫶🫶
