honestly pretty shitty someone sends character hate unprompted period. if you’re doing an analysis of a character, biased or not, it’s kinda just common etiquette to be like “oh never thought of that” or something. then again it’s twitter aka the site where most of things people get mad at are stupid-
that being said i mentioned it before and i’ll mention it again—your character stuff is wonderful!!! love reading all your analyses tbh. would like to know who your favorite 4a party members are (navarre’s up there predicting it now) just for funsies and a little positivity to balance out the character hate :)
Oh it wasn't over any of my analyses. I had posted a little IVA-related joke on Twitter and got some random guy replying back with "You forgot about the part where Toki is being weird and (some nonsense about Navarre taking up gigabytes, which I take to be a roundabout way of saying he's a loser)." I get this shit all the time on Twitter.
I'm just tired of not being able to talk about anything IVA without getting some hate about the game or cast in my notifs. Tired of always feeling like I have to preface with a "yes I KNOW this game and cast are flawed" disclaimer. Tumblr is fortunately a lot better about this, though I've still gotten some character hate here before.
That aside though, I'm happy to hear you enjoy my analyses! My favorite characters are...gosh, well they'd pretty much be the whole IVA cast lmao. It's really hard for me to not pick all of them cause they add so much colorful personality and chemistry to the game. Aside from obviously Navarre, I am really attached to Asahi, Hallelujah, and Gaston. I also deepdown really like Toki in spite of her flawed character writing. Krishna is also def a fave as far as the villains!
Pac: I can't keep doing this, I can't do this– [Laughs] I can't do this anymore— What is this, man?!
If you didn't see Pac suffering in Sims earlier today, here's a (translated & subtitled) compilation of some silly Sims Hideduo moments that made poor Pac look like he was questioning all his life choices.
‘Poseidon left a party in Ethiopia because the sea vibes went rancid after Odysseus set sail’ feels like a bit I would make up, but no. That actually happened.
Bungou Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and how “ability users” (opposite to “normal people”) learning to accept themselves through the acceptance of their own abilities is a queer metaphor of acceptance of own's sexual orientation and gender: an essay by me
Saw your 'The Horrors' comic and 1. Absolutely loved it, and 2. I love love LOVE the progression of Dazai's fears and his reactions to it. There's the immediate fear of Chuuya dying, and his response is to go numb and emotionless. In RESPONSE to that reaction, the mirror switches to copying that apathetic state he was in his mafia days, and he snaps back to being emotional and keeping his priorities to 'keep Chuuya safe' to distract himself, which is what he does in the ADA now and critically, what Oda wanted for him. So of course, it latches on to THAT fear, and without the cold, analytical side of him on the front, it completely catches him off-guard. The build-up and progression is SO good and my God you're amazing.
!! Yessss oh my gosh I'm so happy you noticed all that!! I spent a lot of time thinking through the different shifts of form it takes — and how because the only thing the mirror-ability can do is reflect, Dazai initially thinks he can beat it by remaining unemotional. The problem is, the mirror-ability can reflect the darkest part of any side that Dazai shows it, including that lack of emotion, so he can't beat it at all. I thought that would be a really messed up antagonist for him to face :0
Also, another backstory tidbit because this made me think of it, is that whenever no one is looking at the mirror it starts borrowing elements of forms that have scared people in the past, which leads to it becoming big and fucked-up looking. This is because in the past, one of the people that it reflected was afraid of the mirror gaining a memory and intent. So the mirror now intentionally hunts people, and tries to scare them into looking at it with ominous noises and such. But yeah, that's why it takes on these forms when nobody is watching!
I just love the idea of a monster that essentially weaponizes the fear of the unknown. It's that whole concept of "not seeing the monster is worse because the real monster can never be as scary as what you imagine it to be", except in this case it can genuinely be as bad as anyone imagines, and if they think of a way to make it worse, the monster will immediately get worse. A complete runaway affect as people get more and more scared of it.
Anyway, this ask made me super happy, I'm really glad the motivations behind the shapeshifting came across, as well as the shifts in Dazai's mentality!! Thank you so much for this ask, it made my day :D
Hello! I've seen you draw a lot of Kamen Rider and got curious about it and wanted to ask what it's about and what it is!
BTW: I love your art it's so cool and pretty✨️😭😭
thank you! 💛💜💛 Rider's been near and dear to my heart for well over a decade now, and I'm always happy to suck more people into the void. >:)
Kamen Rider is a Japanese live-action superhero franchise; they come out with a new standalone show every year with brand new characters/story/etc. (so you typically don't need to have seen any of the others to understand it). because every show is often totally different, there's a big variety in tone and quality, but I have some personal recs in this post! and you can also take a look at the wikipedia list (under 'main series') and just see which ones might sound good to you. :D (there's also Ride Kamens, the Twstification-style game that I've really been enjoying, though it is only in Japanese right now.)
at its heart it's basically just a bunch of guys in superhero suits having emotions while swinging foam swords and questionable CGI at rubber monsters, and it's excellent.
So the Wicked is Gay video just reach 80k views and 1) I obviously love that it still consistently gets views each day, especially since this video is nearing it's 4 (!) year anniversary.
but 2) i especially love to think that's bc every night about 50 people walk out of the theater and go "hmm 🤨"
I have greatly enjoyed your comics ever since i saw them and have been quietly Iurking as ya do- thought youd want to know that i played hollow knight based on how enthusiastic u were and how fuckin cool youre art of hk/mdzs is. “Dank farrik!” Din shouts. “There’s a karking rancor in there!”
Boba is grinning like a kid. “Yes! And I haven’t named him yet. He imprinted on me. I spend so much time down here, you have no idea.”
The Return of the Mandalorian to the Book of Boba Fett by TranquilizedDropBear
If you ever thought "I love Boba Fett, I'd love to see him in his own damn show sometime" in regards to Ep 5 of TBOBF can I maybe very enthusiastically recommend you the above linked fic? Because it's lived rent free in my brain for months now and I've thought about it so much that as far as I'm concerned Boba was the one to fill in Din on the background lore about the fall of Mandalore and whatnot. Because we can all use a pair of maybe-Mandalorians bonding sitting on top of a rancor in our lives, no?
Also I had been dying to make this drawing for months now for @bobadinweek's AU bingo for my Canon Divergence slot.
