Recently I had a conversation with someone and it kind of inspired this drabble (If you feel like Eren is not like canon Eren here, it is because his personality here is also based on whoever inspired this smut), except he did not fuck me after saying he would leak shit if i backstabbed him. Does Elain Archeron want to be human again?

Theory debunk ahead.

I have personally *tried* (though I am absolutely not perfect) to take a hippocratic oath with my presence on the internet and wish to do no harm. The Libra moon to my Virgo sun is always trying to approach things peacefully. The wing 2 on my type 1 ennengram is always trying to take an open hearted approach to compassion and empathy for others while still defending my views on Elain (and Azriel).

However, the take that Elain's book is going to be centered around her acting in risky, irrational, or damaging ways because she has one goal and that is to be human again, is a theory I have ZERO respect for. So, with all due respect, which is none, please feel free to self insert disrespectfully at the end of each point as I systematically debunk this theory. This is probably the longest post I'll ever make. Strap in.

So, where TF did this come from?

On my tiktok, I addressed the fact that the rumor that there is going to be a betrayer in the Night Court ranks has zero grounds. We should collectively start to work to realize this is as accurate as Sarah having an announcement on May 1st, but alas it is a losing battle. However, I received a comment that said they also agreed that it was fake UNTIL they saw someone use text to support it. Apparently, one of the human queens insinuated there is a traitor in the Inner Circle. This is why, even though Sarah NEVER said this, people are now continuing to push this "Elain will be a traitor" agenda. Even accidentally or unintentionally out of her desire to be human. I made a whole video on this, but for context, here is the quote being used to fuel this:

Briallyn and Nesta are in a game of chicken with Briallyn trying to force Nesta to get the Trove by threatening she'll have Cassian kill her, and he'll never recover. When Nesta calls her on her bluff and says Briallyn won't kill her, Briallyn responds that there are other court members as delusional as Nesta (she is referring to her love for Cassian making her weak, delusional, and vulnerable) and she can just keep threatening members of the Night Court's loved ones until someone gets her what she wants. However, she put in *quite* a bit of time and effort on trapping Nesta first, didn't she?

My friends. Where does Briallyn say "there is a traitor among the Inner Circle's ranks?" Where does it say there is a mole? It doesn't. Yes, Briallyn has spies. As do all courts and kingdoms. But to suggest Briallyn said there is already a traitor in the Inner Circle specifically because of these quotes is unhinged and beyond willful distortion of the text to serve an invented narrative based on an unfounded rumor. I don't have time or energy to recap the whole vid, but moving on from this for now. Disrespectfully.

The next layer of the conversation is this: They think Briallyn is probably still foreshadowing Elain because Elain wants to be human so badly she'll unintentionally harm the Night Court and betray them, somehow, because of this quote and the conversation with Amren on Solstice. To which I said, there is way too much evidence in ACOSF that Elain is healthy, adjusted, and has friends and purpose in Velaris. The response to that was, well that's Nesta's perception and we can't trust her.

While the convo on tiktok was, I felt, respectful discourse and we agreed to disagree, the parasite in my brain went into full annihilation mode over this theory after thinking on it.

Because by this logic- if we aren't allowed to trust Nesta's or Cassian's perceptions that Elain is healthy and well and adjusted, or glowing with good health and finding purpose and friends, then we ALSO aren't allowed to trust Amren's assumption that Elain was curious about her choosing her Fae form because Elain wants to be human again. Elain never actually said that. Amren assumed it:

At no point does Elain say anything about wanting to be human. In fact, this entire conversation is about Elain's curiosity over why Amren chose the form that she did, why she selected the gender, ect. It's honestly an interesting conversation, and when Amren makes assumptions about Elain having ulterior motives for asking the interesting question, *Elain's brow furrows in confusion.*

Elain straightens and becomes cold at Amren's assumption Elain still wants to be human. One could read this as Elain feeling embarrassed for being called out, but the pure fact is that it isn't the only explanation. In fact, Elain has spent all day cooking for everyone, spent the week shopping for Solstice presents and waxing poetic about the importance of honoring Solstice traditions (more on that later) and participating in the Fae customs, fussing over her appearance for the dinner she prepped for, ECT. It's equally as likely that she is hurt over being misunderstood by the new friends and family she has spent the day trying to making a perfect Solstice meal for and shop for everyone. Which is, if I'm not mistaken, Elain's whole damn theme. Her loved ones don't really see or understand her, while she observed and understands everything. Far more than they give her credit for.

Or maybe Elain has a fucking BEAST FORM. And is curious about what her powers can do with changing form.

The point is, it is all theory and assumption from another character. So, the dinner conversation at Solstice is now off the table using the very logic enforcing the Elain betrayal plotline by suggesting Nesta's perceptions of her are untrustworthy. So are Amren's. What's next? Disrespectfully.

There's only one other item people can use, from ACOFAS, which is Feyre's perception that Elain still wants Grayson. Which again, by this logic, is off the table now.

Feyre is the one who says Elain wants a human man. Elain didn't. So this can no longer be used as evidence.

All Elain says is Lucien is not entitled to her time and affections, and it's impossible for Lucien to care for her because he does not know her. Hmm. Someone thinking they know and care for Elain without actually knowing her. Theme, anyone? I thought I heard a theme bell chime.

Alright. So Nesta is wrong about Elain. Amren is wrong about Elain. Feyre is wrong about Elain.

So where are the grounds that Elain still wants to be human based on the text?

They don't exist.

But oh, that's not even the fun part! NOW is the fun part.

By eliminating others perceptions of Elain from the conversation as they are unreliable, what does that leave us?

Perhaps with Elain's own words and actions and nothing else?

You guys, I felt like a kid in a candy story with this one. Let's see what Elain told us about her thoughts regarding the human lands, starting with the most recent publication ACOSF:

Elain describes in great detail how she was bullied by other girls when she was younger. It's interesting, because Nesta previously said that Elain used to love balls and parties. And yet here, we find out that Elain wasn't treated well by the other girls in her own words speaking on her own experience. She goes on to *shudder in distaste* that in the human lands, it would have been perfectly suitable for Nesta to have been married off and "reserved" until she was old enough to reproduce. A thought that made Rhysand, a Fae, choke on his wine. And then of course, those same girls that tormented her delighted in her downfall.

When Elain speaks for herself instead of others speaking for her, it doesn't seem like she thinks very highly of the human lands, their customs, or their behavior, or the balls she attended does it? She certainly doesn't have any friends or anyone she misses. Everyone turned their backs on the sisters when they lost their money. And Elain witnessed this with Grayson as well, who turned his back on her the second her circumstances changed against her will again.

So uh, no. I don't think Elain is desperate to go back there.

So.... yeah. In Elain's own words, sharing her thoughts and beliefs, this is what she thinks about the rulers of the mortal lands. By the way, these same queens had her kidnapped and risked her life and took everything from her so they could test out whether mortals could survive being thrown in the Cauldron. But please, tell me more how Elain misses her human life so much that she'll screw over her friends and family to get it back. Disrespectfully.

This is what happens when you cherry pick context. You create a new set of rules, which people like me are more than willing to follow. And if the rule is: Elain's thoughts and feelings are the only pieces of evidence allowed and not anyone else's thoughts or perceptions of her, it actually only proves the theory that Elain is going to betray the night court because she wants to be mortal again and return to the mortal lands even more wrong. Considering the theme once again, of how misunderstood and unseen Elain has been, the unbelievably ironic meta-ness of it all is overwhelming. Please, unplug yourself from the Matrix. Pay attention to Elain. It's in your best interest to at least attempt to see and understand her if you plan to read her book, or you are going to be very lost and confused.

Based on my limited understanding, the association with deer and wend*gos is more of a pop culture thing and the original concept of wend*gos arent like that at all. They're regular humans who got cursed for being cannibals, right?

Alright, it's been a while since I've spoken about the winter hunger so it's time for the perennial disclaimer: I am not Anishinaabe, and I cannot be considered a true authority on their practices and beliefs. Native America is, after all, not a monolith, and I can only speak for what I know through research and seeking to learn about this topic in order to be more respectful of them and advocate for that respect due to my audience's size.

With that said: You're correct. There is absolutely no deer imagery aligned with the Anishinaabe culture's portrayals and understanding of the being in question. I'm not 100% sure on its origins, but I'd be willing to bet that much of the inspiration would come from the Witcher 3's depictions of leshy--they click all of the buttons through visual language, and I can see why people would see that sort of iconography and begin applying it disrespectfully. Like I keep saying--fucked up deers are cool and spooky as hell! It's not a shock that through law-of-large-numbers and a history of oppression and thievery that the horror genre can often be anti-indigenous bc of that!

For clarification of the most commonly understood appearance of the winter hunger--and this is not so that you can more accurately use it, it is so you can more accurately defend against racist and inaccurate depictions--it takes the shape of humans. Often of people you know. There are sometimes qualifiers like frostbite or lack of feet but at the very root of it, it is supposed to look like a human being.

Further disclaimer: What I'm about to say may be an entirely wrong interpretation of the winter hunger, but it is rooted in my culture's understanding of a very similar evil being which exists in Dine and other desert-dwelling native tribes such as mine. It's further rooted in my specific understanding of religion through anthropological lenses, since that's why I love studying religion so much--because it doesn't exist in a vacuum it is defined by our understanding of our surroundings.

Picture it this way: Both the Anishinaabe and my own people are in some way considered extremophilic cultures. We both live in an environment which reliably becomes lethally dangerous to exist within if you aren't prepared, willing to sacrifice your own comfort for the survival of everyone, and combines a level of isolation during those extreme climates with a need to be able to trust those around you implicitly because you all want to survive. Deserts, be they snow or sand, are difficult places to live within. There are enough resources to go around, but it's not exactly uncommon for there to be enough to go around and that's all. You're surviving because you and everyone around you are putting the survival of everyone over individualist comforts.

The winter hunger and the desert swallowing you whole are always taught as something which looks like a human. Which sounds like a human. Which can trick others into thinking it is human. Beings which have the shape of a person, but have no humanity--they lost it or they never had it. And both of them are things which gain power over you when spoken of and thought of--they're a type of memetophage. They feed on people who know about them, so you're forced to balance "aware that this danger exists" with "need to know what the danger is". They often will try and trick you into evil deeds or danger yourself by wearing the face and voice of family and loved ones. People you know well to let your guard down.

Now remember that you are a culture which needs to prepare itself for extreme climate survival. Everyone has to rely on everyone else. But sometimes people aren't going to like the people they're surviving with. People will resent other people for whatever reasons they choose, justified or not. Living so close together and in such tight quarters can be stressful and bring out the absolute worst in us.

Imagine, for a moment, going out into a snowstorm or the bitter desert night, looking for food for everyone else, sent with someone you hate. It's a harsh life. Even at your safest you are at risk of death for whatever reason--getting lost, being attacked by an animal, taking a bad fall. It happens. It's a fact of life. It's horribly tragic but it's acknowledged as inevitable.

Imagine the knowledge of how dangerous what you two are doing worming its way into your head during this time. If you were willing to hate this person enough to kill them...it wouldn't be hard to convince everyone it was just an accident. Just something which happens. Kill a stag, then kill them and jam the stag's antlers through the wound. Or just disable them somehow and leave them to freeze in the snowdrifts and say they got lost. Or push them down a ravine. There are so many possibilities and all of them exonerate you of any complicity, because yeah, you didn't like them...

...but you trust each other to survive. You trust that you're all willing to give up things to make sure everyone is able to survive and get through these things. You trust that when you are in danger, you don't need to worry about it coming from someone you know. And so why would anyone suspect you? And maybe you convince yourself that what you did was good, actually. One less mouth to feed. More food for everyone. Or it's just easier for you--someone who you hated so much, and now you never need to worry about them again.

Imagine the way that knowledge that you've done it once would show up again and again. Anyone and everyone is now in danger because you've become aware of the benefits of being greedy. Of choosing to hurt and kill other people to further your own goals and desires. Of deciding that the sacrosanct ties of the whole community's survival is not a priority over your own violent impulses. The knowledge of what you can do to other people is, itself, a danger. You put the idea of it, the possibility, in someone's head, and there is every chance that it could start dwelling in there and taking root, changing them from a good person, someone you know, a member of the community, into an evil, selfish monster which has lost its humanity and merely wears that person's face. Uses its voice to lie to you. Wants you all to have your guards down around it. Something waiting to strike where it can.

Now remember that we turn rainbows into the bridges of gods because we needed to create a reason for them. That's the history of magic: we don't know how to explain something, or we don't know how to process it, or we do and need to obfuscate that knowledge through a layer of fiction to cope with it. We don't invent the divine for no reason, on instinct, without thinking. We do it because there is something that creating it offers us as a species and culture that would otherwise be lacked. So think: Why would tribal cultures who need everyone to be willing to set aside personal wants and grievances to ensure that everyone survives through harsh climates need to have something like the winter hunger or the desert swallowing you whole? What benefit does it offer the community? What is the purpose of sharing knowledge about this monster? Where would it fit into that culture's way of life and philosophies?

The answer becomes self-evident soon enough. We all know what it looks like when one person decides they can sacrifice other humans for their own personal greed. We call them oligarchs.

the fire nation alone cherry picks cultural influences from imperial japan, southeast asia, china and india. the title of the whole goddamn show is from sanskrit. there’s a stereotypical indian character who seems to belong to no nation at all apart from being an honorary air nomad. aspects of hinduism are used for both air nomad and fire nation culture. i’m sure i’m missing out a lot more, but off the top of my head it’s already clear that the show was not setting out to create accurate 1-1 rep.

and look… it’s a fantasy show. i’m not against them mixing influences from different real world nations for fake ones, so long as they did the proper research to make sure it was written respectfully (which… nope lmao one day i will finally make that post on hinduism in atla and how disrespectfully it was handled). but just because people saw themselves in these characters — and i’m really happy for them that they did — doesn’t mean those characters actually hail from the same cultural and religious background as its viewers. atla was created by two white men and an almost all-white writing team, and it shows. and though it’s not wrong to see yourself in it, neither is it accurate to assume that it’s the pinnacle of asian representation. go to actual asian creators for that.

conflating fictional fantasy cultures that were created and depicted through an extremely american lens with real-life ones is illogical at best and idiotic at worst, especially when you’re using it to harass actual poc viewers who could very well hail from the same cultural backgrounds you’re claiming to defend.

Really hate when people still call Yuka just a girl when he explicitly identifies as a bi man who likes cross dressing, blatantly (as far as I’ve watched in the anime) directly in the anime.

Netflix decided to translate it like that, that’s it. For some reason. But Netflix is known to be problematic with anything to do with gender. The original doesn’t appear to be that, and at the end of the day the original content is canon.

If I’m totally wrong, please mention, but from my experience he’s not said he’s a girl at all, and he’s open with himself being a guy who decides to wear women’s uniform regularly to class? And was very upset about not being able to date a man like any other person because of clothing preference. I haven’t read to manga yet in honesty, so is it saying something different there? But numerous people are getting concerned about why this is happening, and why translations are being so disrespectfully messed up. There’s a limit to how badly you dub something ahaaa….

Just because someone wears this kind of clothing, it doesn’t mean they’re a girl, nor transgender. It means their presentation may be non-binary in some way, but that doesn’t = being a whole other gender to what they identify as.

It’s hard enough as it is being gay in the first place. I have this happen often and it’s been hard to see, it’s close to my heart (especially as he also cares a lot about doing his art) and I’m glad it’s being depicted though, and talks about how hard to can be to date if you’re not simply “binary”, even within queer circles.

I haven’t watched every episode so if he comes out later in the manga or anime? Please say. But so far it’s been stated pretty clearly tbh.

One of the challenging crucial aspects for me while doing the blockout is to make sure that the headgear and neckpiece of the character are as accurate as possible to its real-life references. This is due to the fact that the reference is from a religious art form called Theyyam. When referencing and drawing influence from different sources, especially culturally relevant ones, it is important to ensure that they are obtained from reliable sources with sufficient research. It is also important to note that when referring to culturally significant religious art forms, care must be taken not to depict the individuals or the community involved disrespectfully. It could lead to legal implications or cultural issues. In my case, I have taken the time and care to research the cultural practices and their significance to the culture while incorporating them in my design so as not to offend anyone. As a result, the headgear and neckpiece are taking a longer time to be created than I expected. I also decided to sculpt them as a separate tool and then insert it into the character tool since it has a lot of elements. Although it wasn’t that hard getting all the elements in place was a time-consuming task. Below is the references I used and my progress on these props so far.

Recently got into a discussion on one of my previous posts about appropriation, closed practices and things of that nature. The person blocked me so I doubt they understood what I was trying to explain, but it's been itching at my adhd brain. So I figured I'd make this post going into further depth regarding what that conversation included, partially so (hopefully) my explanation here is explained better than what I can do in tumblr notes. Not going to share the person's username or reference the post. Don't look for them just to send harassment. Buckle up because this is gonna be a long post.

So, in short, the individual was essentially saying how they don't believe in appropriation because they believe in past lives and reincarnation. They further explained how they think that if something really resonates with an individual, it was probably significant to that individual in a past life and if something resonates then they should honor it. They also used being an eclectic witch as an excuse. Essentially, "if it feels right, why not?"

There are multiple flaws in this argument, so bear with me as I try to explain.

Appropriation is the action of taking something for one's own use (and often removing it from its original context) without the owner's permission. In this context, the owners are those who fit into their respected religious, cultural and/or ethnic groups. It is important that we don't go out and start cherry picking whatever we want from anywhere we want without researching the origins of it first. That is how we avoid appropriation in the first place. This isn't a matter of personal belief; it is a matter of boundaries and respect. Please note; appropriation isn't a problem within closed practices alone- it is completely possible to appropriate open practices as well (see the Wiccan wheel of the year for example; half the holidays are Irish and Germanic holidays that were meshed into the religion disrespectfully).

Closed practices are traditions, practices and entities that belong to specific religions, cultures and ethnic groups. It's not a matter of being selfish and "gatekeeping". Some things simply should be kept reserved for their originating religions, cultures and/or ethnic groups. You can't blame people for wanting to protect their spiritual practices from outsiders who will take the opportunity to twist them out of their original contexts. There are also "semi-closed practices" as some would call them, which are essentially practices where some things are open and some things are closed (folk magic, for example). Please note that you should always consult people from closed and semi-closed practices directly to get a better understanding of these things.

UPG stands for unverified personal gnosis. It is a subjective concept that goes purely on intuition and personal experience. Things are are UPG cannot be proven through direct citation of texts, historical evidence/texts and things of that nature. VPG, on the other hand, stands for verified personal gnosis. These are things that are backed up by accurate historical evidence.

Now that we have gotten those basic explanations... I want to get into what was said during that discussion.

Past lives and reincarnation are not universal concepts, like it or not. Many religions and cultures do not believe in such things. Many individuals do not believe in such things. You cannot force your way into practices and traditions on the basis of "I was part of it in a past life, so I have claim to it in this life", and there are two reasons that come to mind for this (beyond that fact that is is just disrespectful).

Going back to what I said about past lives and reincarnation not being universal concepts: who are you to claim that you were from a culture or religion that doesn't even believe in such concepts? Now, don't get me wrong, a single individual can come to their own conclusions on the topics of past lives and reincarnation... But taking into consideration the cultures and religions texts and beliefs... It's simply not a valid argument to say "I was part of it in a past life". Quite frankly, it comes off disrespectful to the people of those cultures and religions.

Going even further into the concept of past lives and reincarnation... Like it or not, it is UPG. Now, believing in past lives and reincarnation is perfectly valid. I myself believe it is completely possible. However, there is no way to prove anything regarding your past lives and reincarnation. All you can go off of is your intuition and personal experiences, and nobody is entitled to hold you to a different level of boundaries because of your UPG. Because it is UPG.

Not to mention that the idea that you have entitlement to something purely because you simply feel like you should or you simply feel like you do makes you look like one hell of a colonizer. We don't have to look too far back in history to see how this mindset of "I want it so I should have it" affected many cultures, religions and ethnic groups. Cultures, religions and ethnic groups that were negatively impacted by colonizers and the colonizer mindset. The same cultures, religions and ethnic groups some of you insist on taking things from for your "spiritual practices". It isn't even in the past. Many of these individuals are continuing to go through acts of hatred (harassment, loss of basic human rights, murder, forced assimilation, etc) and yet some of y'all still insist on taking from their cultures and religions because you simply want to.

The term "eclectic witch" has become a red flag for me at this point because I end up having this type of conversation with so many who identify as such, and half the time it goes nowhere. It's disturbing to see the lack of awareness. I'll be the first to admit that I've made mistakes and appropriated things, but once I realized what I did I made it a point to stop. Because learning and respecting boundaries isn't that hard.

10 Myths About Hellenismos

Today, let's address some popular myths (and the truths) about Hellenismos and its deities. Not very surprisingly, most of these things come from Wicca or Christian colonization. You can believe these things if you want, they just aren't from the religion.

Myth 1: Deity work is dangerous

Truth: Deity work, in Hellenismos, isn't any more dangerous than worshiping the Christian god is supposed to be. This notion didn't originate in Hellenismos, and is also a largely neopagan idea. Our theoi aren't monsters or aggressive. They won't kill you over tiny mistakes. Just respect them, do what you can, and you'll be fine.

Remember that even in the mythos, people aren't smited for the wrong offering. They're smited for blatant and deliberate disrespect, which by nature can't be done accidentally.

Our deities genuinely aren't easily angered. They wont be mad if you reach out to them, if you confuse them for something else, if you give them the wrong offering, etc.

Myth 2: You need to look out for entities impersonating deities

Truth: Again, this isn't remotely from Hellenismos. Our gods cannot be impersonated by evil entities. Frankly, we don't really have entities with that desire or power in the religion. If you're contacting a Hellenic deity, and you get an affirmative response, you contacted them. The idea you didn't, or that something else is lying to you, is from outside the religion. Our deities are more powerful than random ghosts, and our religion doesn't have that concept.

Myth 3: Hekate is a moon goddess/crone

Truth: Hekate is associated with the moon, but she is not a goddess of the moon. She is the goddess of one lunar phase--the dark moon, which is on the eve of Hekate's Deipnon. She is also not a crone goddess outside of neopaganism and Wicca. Historically, she was depicted as a maiden. Her triple form was also not maiden/mother/crone, simply a triple maiden-esque figure.

Myth 4: Hestia gave her seat to Dionysos/Apollon took Helios's chariot

Truth: Honestly, it's just a difference in counting. Some deities were and weren't Olympians depending on time, culture, and locations. No seats on Olympos were "given up," it's just that sometimes one is there and sometimes the other isn't.

As for the chariot, no. Apollon didn't replace Helios. They were synchronized, but Apollon didn't "take" the chariot, and Helios was never removed. Helios is still the sun--his name is literally "sun."

Myth 5: The myths are history/Hellenic Polytheists believe in the myths

Truth: The characters in myths are real to us, and some myths are literal, but in general, Hellenic mythology is not meant to be taken fully literally. Most of it is symbolic. Additionally, a lot of the r*pe in the mythos is translation errors. We believe in our heroes and our gods, and we believe there is truth in the myths, but no, our mythology isn't like Christian mythology--it's not expected or really encouraged to believe the myths are strictly true history. The myths aren't even consistent over time and location, so it's simply impossible to believe in all of them at once. But no, our gods do not act the way they do in mythology. Myths are by and for mortals, and do not capture the divine.

Myth 6: It's disrespectful to dress up as or write fiction about the gods

Truth: This is just ridiculous and ahistoric. The majority of Ancient Greek theater was deity cosplay and fanfiction. I said what I said.

This can definitely be done disrespectfully, but isn't inherently disrespectful. You also aren't required to represent the theoi fully accurately in this.

Myth 6: X god is Y orientation/gender

Truth: While you can certainly theorize our theoi's sexuality, and none of our gods are cishet by modern standards, none of the gods can only be interpreted as one gender or orientation. The terms we ascribe to them are based on mythos, portrayals, and modern interpretation of historic social roles.

The most common of these theories are maiden goddesses as aroace (ie. Hestia, Athena, Artemis), erastes (top) gods as bi men (ie. Zeus, Apollon, Patroklos), eromenos (bottom) gods as gay men (ie. Ganymedes, Hyakinthos, Akhilleus), and Artemis as a lesbian.

None of these are wrong, to be clear. It's just not as simple as using our modern labels for them. Erastes and eromenos were both considered straight in Ancient Greece; being a 'virgin' didn't always mean celibate; Artemis can be interpreted as bi, lesbian, and/or aroace based on her myths. You can interpret them however you like--I certainly interpret my gods as queer--but there is no single right answer.

Myth 7: You need a patron or to be devoted to someone, or can only have one patron/be devoted to one god, & devotion is an oath

Truth: Patron deities are more of a principle in neopaganism and Wicca than in Hellenismos. Worshiping the theoi does not require you to find a patron or devote to a deity, ever. Patronage is not particularly important or common, unless you are thinking of a patron god of a trade (ie. if you're a blacksmith your patron is Hephaistos).

Devotion is also not exclusive, and never requires an oath. Oaths in Hellenismos are extremely serious, and should never be taken without extreme caution. If you aren't willing to die if you break the oath, don't make it--find something else. You probably wont die, but that's the necessary level of certainty. Devotion, while serious, is not as serious as being oath-bound. You can be devoted to multiple deities, and devotion can be called off if needed. You can't really call off an oath.

Myth 8: X god is a r*pist!

Truth: Please stop it. Just stop it. No. Especially if you're basing that on Lore Olympus. The mythology isn't fact, weird inaccurate mythology fanfic written by someone who doesn't know anything about the myths isn't fact.

The mythology isn't straight up history. The myths were often mistranslated (the Greek word for r*pe didn't just mean r*pe) and they aren't facts. They were also products of their culture. So. No. They are not. And their worshipers aren't r*pe apologists.

Myth 9: Titans are evil and/or Olympians hate titans

Truth: Titans are fine. Really. They're not evil, they're not going to hurt you. They're just another kind of Theoi. Many of them were actually a large part of the historic religion. Hekate's Deipnon was a monthly festival, after all. And no, Olympians don't hate titans. Remember the point about myths not being literal.

Myth 10: The gods are jealous

Truth: No, the gods will not be jealous if you worship another god. They wont be jealous if you worship another pantheon, or if you need a break. If you're a god consort, they won't be jealous if you're interested in other mortals or deities. If you're a devotee, they won't be upset if you devote to other deities.

The most jealous a god gets is upset if you break an oath, promise, or agreement with them. If you promised them a daily libation but skipped it for another deity without permission, they may get upset. But even then, that's not really jealousy.

Myth 11: If you work with X deity, you can't work with Y

Truth: This is usually based on rivalry in mythology, and isn't true at all. Related to the above jealousy point, no deity in real life hates another deity, especially not enough that if you worship both they'll be upset. You can worship Aphrodite and Persephone. You can honor Hera and Leto.

Most of these gods are actually happy if you honor other theoi. Many of them are family, or share domains.

I haven't seen the second episode because I'm not watching that show but I was just browsing reddit and someone shared a screenshot of Jen's background pic on her phone and it's Steve's ass.

Now, I get it's meant to be a meta kind of thing for the audience after what Stark said in EG, but again I can't help but feel uncomfortable seeing that, and what makes me even more uncomfortable is the reactions of the fans.

I've seen a few people point out the hypocrisy of a series that supposedly aims at addressing how terrible objectification is and the fact that sexualizing women and not treating them as human beings is definitely wrong, but when it comes to Steve his character is being talked about disrespectfully, or more accurately his sex life and now his ass. When this is mentioned a rather large group of fans gets mad and claims it's all "a joke" and not meant to be taken seriously. But isn't that the main problem?

If you want to make a point of saying objectification is wrong and your series tries to make a statement about that.... you can't have the title character doing just that to someone else, I don't care if to her he's a celebrity, you can't show her doing it, mostly because if you do then the underlying message you send is "oh sure, sexualizing people is wrong... except when you do it as a joke, then it's totally fine and no one can criticize it because come on, joke! it's not that deep!".

If she's doing it with Steve what's to stop Bruce from doing it with Natasha? It's weird because they knew each other? Fine, then his phone background pic is the ass of Sylvie. Now you think it's fine? Just a joke? Not that deep?

If Jen is a Steve fan that's cool (hell, so am I) but she could show her interest for him in a completely different way that does not involve sexualizing nor objectifying him. Them using the "this is a lighthearted show" is no more than an excuse.
