It seems really random but i want to know if there's any in-universe reason for it or why people think their dynamic would be interesting

i literally cannot express how much i love the asks please keep them coming and i love talking to you you are my friend!!! and i think theres a few things behind kairi and terra friendship like firstly. terra himself is the only one in the wayfinder trio that hasnt actually met kairi (aqua in bbs did, you could argue that ven and kairi in sora's heart in kh1 did but if not then theyre in the same room (even if they dont interact) in kh3) but with this there IS a small argument to be made that he has. but as apprenticenort. the guy who cast her astray from her home and shot a toddler into space in a silly little capsule

but also with kairi saying shes gonna be training with aqua after khMoM (and presumably in the land of deprature where the others in the wayfinder trio are), shes probably gpnna be interacting with them a lot and theres potential with every single character! i wrote a small fic a while back about kairi training with each one and as a summary: training with aqua and the connection behind aqua basically starting her fate by bequeathing the keyblade in bbs, ven and kairi both being hearts of pure light, and kairi and terra both BEING ABSOLUTE HEAVY HITTING TANKS (or at least thats my dream for her. please dont let her be another mage/magic oriented female character. please let her kill . i want her to kill), and its also just a wholesome friendship!! bonus points for terra meaning earth and a recurring theme of kairi's being flowers, they match well :) terra also deserves to show his friendly happy side that he has sometimes in bbs especially after brewing in his own anger and hatred in a suit of armour for a decade because he genuinely is a really sweet character and so is kairi. hes a fun big brother and god kairi deserves some good fucking family. she got ripped away from her grandmother, then from her next home in kh1, then stayed in a lab asleep for a year, i wanna see more dynamics beyond immediate friendships (like riku and sora) and different dynamics

as for anything in canon suggesting a kairi terra friendship: nothing to my knowledge dfkhfdkjh

So all her tech is powered by solar panels, she charges her batteries throughout the day and changes them whenever she needs.

The tech in her boots and elytra is some form of hover tech, i got a suggestion from the discord that it could be balls of air like from avatar! And i find that idea really cool. Whatever it is it gives her the ability to fly.

When she isnt using her elytra she hovers over the ground because her boots are always on, she can fly very small distances with the boots but she needs the elytra for long distance trips.

The “headphones” on her head have radio technology that let her communicate over long distances and they can create a visor that analyse the environment around her.

The screens on her arm bracers help control her farms, watering, planting, harvesting ex.

Oh and Im planning on finishing up a sketch of her in a slightly modified postal pearl outfit! :D

Woah woah woah what's this I'm hearing about Green hate?? Is this true? Probably not, but this is a great opportunity to explain character flaws! :D (I was saving this analysis for when the entire arc is done but whatever)

A perfect, flawless character is a boring character. What fun will there be if your character did everything right in the world, no mistakes to let them grow or problems they can learn from? This helps create conflict, which helps expand on a character and develop them further.

Green's ego problem, his whole attention and fame-obsession thing, is a part of his character for a reason. Flaws in a character makes them more realistic and relatable, you feel me?

Green is actually a really complex character, and that's something I love most about him. That's why he's my favourite.

He can be kind, he can be a cocky jerk, he can be selfish, he can be selfless, he loves his friends, he doesn't understand what he's doing to them, all of it. His character flaws make him feel real.

His wanting for a bigger taste of fame, his slowly losing himself to the world of content creation? It's realistic. It happens everyday.

I, of course, hate what he's doing to his friends, hell, I've been there before, but that's simply necessary for his character arc. When he realises his mistake, he's going to grow from it. He's going to become a better person, I just know it.

How do I know? Because we've seen it time and time and time again.

Green showing off when he wins every build battle, Green getting cocky when dodging Red’s pranks, his anger when he loses? Those flaws have been established since day one.

Except he's still a good person.

He remained loyal to his friends, genuinely loves and cares about them so very much, and most definitely the type to drop everything for them.

(I hope, if my analysing skills are any good..)

And who's the one who comforted Purple after all he's done to them?

Green.

He's still including his friends, albeit a lot, lot less. He still cares about them, he's still trying to give them some spotlight, but he doesn't understand that they don't want that. Doesn't understand yet, anyway.

Sure, he's losing himself to the taste of fame, sure he's currently filled with an ego-driven, attention-seeking drive right now, but he'll learn soon.

That's what makes a character arc so darn good. Sometimes the problem isn't an outside force, or an enemy to battle, or something to stop.

Sometimes the problem is yourself, and it's something that needs to be changed.

Maybe the whole point of this fame-chasing arc is to let Green learn more about humility, in all it's glory, and the dangers of devoting your life to giving content to a bunch of strangers.

Or maybe not, who knows? There's still two episodes for the influencer arc, after all.

I can't wait to see how Green's character arc goes for it :D

Silas has got me feeling brain rot so bad, He's got me psychoanalysing him.

I don't know if it's just me putting my own experiences of growing up neurodiverse but he does show some parallels.

You said in one of your posts that elves find silas "off" (just like a lot of neurotypical children do with neruodiverse children) which means that he most likely had no friends growing up as well as the fact that his parents didn't really give him love either leaving him isolated which could of stunted certain aspects of his cognitive growth i.e emotional intelligence (in cases such as not understanding the reasoning for the reader rebelling against him or how to successfully stop it in a proper way),

All this meant that the only thing to keep him company was his hyperfixation on humans. He probably spent most of his life imagining living among humans and maybe even imagining his own human friends/family.

Which is why Silas gets so transfixed on the reader when he first sees them. They are a physical manifestation of what he's hyper fixated on for hundreds of years, the concept of them being the only thing that has kept him company for all that time.

I don't even know if this makes any sense, I'm sleep deprived and its 5am where I'm at.

So provided he doesn’t have to run off to save the day, or your escapades haven’t coincided with a routine patrol, Bruce is excellent at aftercare.

Him: Bruce is highly critical of himself. He’s not blind, he knows he’s physically fit, widely intelligent, and highly attractive, but there’s also always room for improvement.

But if he had to choose, it would be his brain. He enjoys being able to look at you and knowing in an instant that you want him. Knowing if it’s a right here right now, or a tease me till I’m begging kind of want. Knowing exactly what you need to hear or where you need to be touched. Being able to predict and acclimatise to your desires is such a big thing for him.

As for you: It’s all in your eyes. You may or may not think you’re quite stony-faced, but not to Bruce. He just loves how expressive your eyes are. This post is going to be a doozy, so gonna just skip straight to the cut!

INTERIOR

INTRODUCTION

I really wanted to model this bind after my own copy of the Odyssey, (which is all highlighted and bookmarked and annotated to hell from my Great Text courses in undergrad ehe, so this bind was such a fun trip down memory lane!). But beyond just the cover/general aesthetic, I also wanted to give the book a similar feel to these kinds of editions of classics--there's usually an introduction, translation notes, and other supplementary materials, right? Like, a physical manifestation of the work of many, many people, all having conversations with one another across time and space.

So that's what I did! I wrote a short introduction (I will also probably post it to my AO3/my blog as well, in the name of preservation etc. etc.) and began reaching out to folks in the fandom who I knew had created art and meta for the fic. The result? 18k words of analysis, comments, and meta, and nearly twenty pages of art!

And this is what I love most about this bind, I think! This book is the work of several people--truly a collaborative work by the fandom--all of whom I will now be shamelessly calling out below :D

CHAPTER HEADER ART

First and foremost, this book would not be what it is without the gorgeous header art by @fancy-rock-dove! Thank you so much Dove for letting include your work, and for being so supportive and kind these past few weeks about this bind <3 You in particular have contributed so much to this book (which I will be getting more into in the next section ehe), and I'm so psyched I get to hold your art and words, too!

NOTES ON THE TEXT

This section was divided into four parts: Asks and Answers, Meta, Selected Comments, and Chapter Heading Art: Process

For Asks and Answers, I trawled Heather's blog for meta she had written in response to questions and other meta about the fic. Asks came from @fancy-rock-dove, @quillingwords, @kulapti, and myself! (I THINK I got all of them--tumblr's search function is finnicky even on its best days, so so sorry if I missed something T_T) I first got hooked into reading this fic because of one of these asks, so I'm very fond of this section in particular :D

For Meta, I included two wonderful essays written by @pastrypuppy (also known as @kulapti) about Hob as an author figure and the Disrupted Fisher King narrative in MSW. Her analyses were so fascinating and I just had to include them in the book! (And thank you as well for your permission, friend!) (also hello fellow Renegade comrade 🫡)

For Selected Comments, I owe everything to (once again :3) @fancy-rock-dove, whose insights are the epitome of transformative fandom at work. I'd look for their comments after I read every chapter to see what their takes were on this or that element of the story, and every single time I would go "!!!!! I didn't even realize!!!" or "OOOOOOOH I hadn't thought of that!!" It was like being in a lecture hall and always whipping your head around when one of your classmates raised their hand, because you knew they were going to say something fascinating that you hadn't considered before.

Aside from one of my own comments, Dove's comments make up the entirety of this section (for which I owe you my life--your long-form responses to fics are a gift to this world) but GOSH was it also so much fun going through the comments section while typesetting and seeing all the keyboard smashing, yelling, and crying from the other commenters. Communal nature of storytelling and ongoing meaning-making of fanfiction, babey!

And finally for Chapter Heading Art: Process: once again Dove coming in clutch with some wonderful insights into the design of each of the chapter heading art pieces! This kind of stuff is honestly my favorite: meta about art for a fic which is, in turn, a transformation of an existing story (not even to mention that The Sandman is its own kind of fanfiction of existing mythologies and histories)--I just!! Think it's all really, really neat :'D (for more coherent/polished thoughts on this pls see my introduction asjdfkls)

ART

The art gallery!!! A million thanks to @fishfingersandscarves, @honeyseller, @jazzpsych, @doctor-rainbowfoxey, and (HI AGAIN DOVE) @fancy-rock-dove for granting me permission to include all of your beautiful pieces!

As usual for artworks in my binds, I printed each piece out on specialty photo paper to really make the colors pop, then sewed each page separately to the text block! Behold, everyone's beautiful beautiful pieces!

The art gallery also satisfies the certain "oooh shiny" part of my brain that always activates when I see pictures in a book, so am also very fond of this section :3

CONSTRUCTION

And now on to the nitty gritty stuff! I used the German Bradel binding technique again, my second time using it. Even though it's more complicated than the case bind, I really love how it gives you the full board space for the cover designs (~it's free real estate~). Keep it a secret but I kiiiiiiind of made a small goof in the last few steps (I did the turn-ins a step too early and so had to paste an extra sheet of cardstock to secure the spine to the boards, whoopsie), but it's a pretty small difference, aesthetically speaking, so it wasn't the end of the world XD

Edges are once again fake gilded, but this time I tried something new with the colors! I did two layers of acrylic paint--one watered down shade of red for the base, then one metallic gold on top of that. I really like the red/gold effect! I'll have to keep experimenting with this kind of layering:

ALSO. Y'ALL! I think I'm finally getting the hang of endbands!!! Many thanks to the folks at Renegade who hosted all the endband workshops last month--I'm still working through them, but even the few sessions I've seen have been TREMENDOUSLY helpful. I learned that tension is Very Important, as well as thread thickness, so I tried doubling my thread and keeping a Very Close Eye on how I was holding the threads while doing the beads. And behold! I still have a ways to go (and one day I would LOVE to do the fancier designs), but I'm v happy with the progress I've made so far!

And finally the covers!! ARCHIVAL MOD PODGE MY BELOVED. I printed on the same matte presentation paper that I used for the art, then did several coats of archival matte mod podge + a pass of gloss mod podge over the title strip to make it ~shiny~. Then once those had dried and I'd adhered them to the boards, I sprayed two layers of matte clear acrylic sealer (also mod podge!) to finish it off. I had some issues with the paper tearing when I handled it before it was fully dry, but luckily the blemishes were small enough that it was easy to do spot corrections with my black acrylic paint. And now I know to be more patient next time LOL

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had a lot of thoughts while I was binding this book--about Sandman fandom, about Dreamling fandom, about the Odyssey, about storytelling, about fanbinding, about Binderary, about Renegade, about my friends--but really what came to mind the most was gratitude!

Simply put, I'm so grateful to everyone I've met both in this fandom and throughout the years I've been active online--this is SO fun, y'all. It's so much fun to love stories together--to talk about them, to write them, and of course to bind them! I hope I've adequately conveyed that gratitude.

But of course, this book would not exist without the wonderful words of @moorishflower. How to avoid distractions while studying.

Social Media.

I personally know how hard it is to study when constant social media notifications are popping up so i just turn them off. This is obvious and the easiest way. Keep your phone in another room while you're studying.

Here's the thing, YouTube is something we can't avoid, especially when it comes to studying because many times, we want to learn from the videos but end up getting distracted and therefore, i maintain 2 accounts. One, a personal account where I watch all my own channels like vlogs and other content videos and another account only for studying. I don't subscribe to any other channels beside the channels that help me with my studies in this account. I've noticed that I get a lot less distracted because your recommendations would only be study related or the content related!

Write them down

When you're studying and you noticed that you're getting a lot of distractions. Take a paper and write down the distractions with the timings and then continue studying.

Distractions - Time

Phone - 20 min (specify time: 8:20-40)

By this, you can analyse what's distracting you more than the others and you can actually calculate your study hours better and help yourself improve it.

Reduce everything by 5 mins

It's okay to get distracted. Everyone gets distracted and the best way to decrease your distractions is to decrease them by 5 mins for some days and then keep decreasing them gradually. It's the best way to work honestly because it helps you remove the distractions over time as a habit.

Complete your chores before sitting down

You might know that whenever you sit down with a firm motivation to study and then you take your notes, books, materia etc and a voice from the kitchen comes saying"You haven't finished the dishes!" So, now you go to do the dishes and then another chore pops up when you sit to study and another and another. So, here's my advice, either you complete all your chores before you study or you complete them after or you could complete them during breaks. But make sure you're not distracted by them.

Turn daydreaming into a weapon

Personally, this is something i really really struggled with, like whenever I sit down to study, I ended up daydreaming about a certain book or plot. It would definitely not help me study so recently, I started assigning fictional characters to subjects and personally, like, gosh my economics was alittle more interesting when I was "teaching" it to Cardan Greenbriar (tfota). It's kinda childish to have like an imaginary friend or such but it certainly helps with boring subjects. Imagine scenarios or do anything with your imagination as long as you're studying the content. It helps you remember important points even though it may be absurd.

Q and A sessions

From time to time, get in the habit of quizzing yourself, I do it after every topic i complete. I'll ask questions which are not in the book, I'll twist the questions just like in the tests. This means that you have to stay focused if you truly want to answer the questions or even form the questions. You can even do it with a friend/study buddies!

Tennis method

This method is really useful and i kinda made it up. You hold your hands up in the air facing towards each other. Now, after you completed a topic, you "throw" your first point from one hand to another and the other hand should "throw" back the second point and so on until you're completely done with it. If you can't "throw" a point back in less than a minute, you need to revise more. Personally, I love doing this because I'm focused on answering and it's actually kinda fun "throwing" points like balls, even though it may look crazy to any outsiders xD (You can use this for maths for formulae, vocabs etc!)

I'M GONNA FUCKING CRY THIS PROMPT IS SO CUTE HOW DID I MISS IT!!! as someone who is scared of thunderstorms i think ik what she'd be thinking of >:) I'm gonna write this as if Riley is also going thru a thunderstorm, since she seemed pretty ok w the brainstorm in the movie, so it'll be a real world storm in rileys home.

Reader comforting Anxiety through a storm <3

I think that she would be terrified of crisis happening.

She would overthink so many possibilities.

She'd be afraid of the power going out, and not coming back on for days...

"What if the power goes out, the fridge doesn't work, and all of our food goes bad, and we starve!!!"

"What if a tree falls on the house, and we have to go through another big move and lose all of our friends, and our bank goes down hill and we become extremely poor due to being forced to move, and our social life goes into the dirt-"

"What if the tree falls on us and we die? What if the tree falls on Mom or Dad and THEY die?!"

If she knows the storm is coming ahead-of time, she would try to get Riley as prepared as ever.

She would be the main-motivator for those people who stock-up on toilet-paper during hurricanes, just saying. She probably comes up with that idea. LMAO

She'd be convinced they need to stock up on food, water, and she might even worry that they should board or cover the windows, if the storm was said to be particularly bad.

Of course, for the most part - she's overreacting, overpreparing, and overthinking. But in her mind, her precautions are saving them from possible small, but stacking inconveniences. If we don't stack up on toilet paper we won't have anything in the bathrooms if someone needs to go, if we don't have water we'll go dehydrated because we can't drive to the store to get more in the storm, what if the faucet stops working? What if we run out of food??? etc.

She'd be the type of person to stress that you can't take a shower when it's storming so we have to take one before it storms! Which, really isn't that big of a deal, but she thinks it is. <3

Though, I think the best way to comfort her through a storm would be to distract her during it. As much as consoling and comforting her will make her smile, and telling her that her worries can be contradicted by likelihood being small,

It won't stop her from noticing the loud noises, or constant pitter-patter of the water screaming against our window.

You may need to do something with her to ease or distract her from her worries...

Such as offering up a board-game to play while it rains,

or a movie or show to watch,

Or sitting in the dark and telling stories together, you could sit close to her,

and cuddle with her, while watching your favorite, or her favorite movie, while gently holding her hand and rubbing circles in her palm with your thumb...

Or playing a rather intense game of UNO with the other emotions, to make it fun and upbeat, so she gets super distracted and has fun, and maybe barely notices the creaking and scratching of a small tree-branch at the window.

I think she'd jolt, or yelp, whenever there is a loud thunder-clap, or lightning strike by the window.

She would be the type to see the lightning, and count how long it takes to hear the thunder...

She would want to know how close it struck, and she would overthink and analyse each one she catches.

If it's storming for a particularly long period, she'd worry of flooding...

But you could compliment, and fluster her while you sit with her at her chair with a hot drink, and tell her a funny, or long story, so she can listen to your voice and laugh with you about small things that will pass the time away.

Maybe she might even fall asleep with you during the storm, once you've gotten her to stop focusing on how scary and threatening it is... The soft sounds of the rain, your breathing beside her, the comforting feeling of being besides you, the still, quiet... She'd be so comfortable. <3
