me: [looks at calendar, gets a wicked idea, looks into the camera] happy springtime, turtle fam! who's ready to celebrate the season?

...mating season, that is. hehe. [dodges the tomatoes]

so! i had the idea that it would be super fun to have a community-wide event where we all have a prompt and then everyone fills it in their own way.

...i then decided all the prompts i came up with were too good not to use, but also none of them were Good Enough to use exclusively, so i changed my mind and the prompt is now just MATING SEASON. with a few suggestions at the bottom of this post if you're looking for some.

since spring is coming upon us, i hereby invite everyone to join in the vernal festivities... which in turtle parlance, of course, means only one thing: write, draw, whatever your version of "mating season", then join me on march 1 to post it with the tag #TMNTSpringShellebration. we then shall browse the fine selection of our mutual artistic efforts, and basically just have a good time as a community.

here are the prompts i came up with as starters-slash-things-to-include if you're looking for a place to get started. feel free to use these at will, or use them to come up with something of your own:

"can i participate?" yes! it's literally just an invitation to do something. nothing fancier than that. no need to be following me or in my friend group or whatever.

"can i write (insert fic idea here)?" yep! so long as it's related to the idea of mating seasons, it flies. reader insert? hell yea. oc? hell yeah. solo turtle and his favorite pillow? go for it.

"can i draw (insert art idea here)?" yep! uh. i know tumblr has the cops watching for sin bin material, but you art people know how to deal with that. and if you don't, uh, ask the other art people. im just a feral cat in a trench coat

"how do i participate?" write/draw/collect songs for/whatever. then, on march 1, post it and tag it #TMNTSpringShellebration. also, for funsies, keep it hush hush what you're working on so we can all be super shocked when the day comes! except, y'know, that you're planning on joining in. totally do that.

"when do i post it?" march 1. whenever on that day. waves hands around in a vague gesture at time zones not mattering. seriously don't take this so seriously it's just me wanting to create cool shit with my friends with a little more structure to it

"does it have to be horny?" i mean. it's an event about mating season. so by definition it's going to be at least a little horny. but however you interpret it is cool. even if it's just. idk. leo sitting sweatily in a chair looking longingly at a glass of water bc he's thirstier than usual. be smart about things, people. i'm not your dad.

"which tmnt verse is this for?" whichever one you want it to be for!! rise! bayverse! 2007! your fan iteration! your friend's fan iteration! your mortal enemy's fan iteration! yes!

"will you be reblogging everything?" absolutely not, but this isn't an event About Me. i am incidental to the thing. it's about Us. coming together as a community. for horny turtles. puts my hands on your shoulders. do it for you. for your friends. for the community.

During a research expedition to document shipwrecks off North Carolina in 2017, researchers from Monitor National Marine Sanctuary got to release two rehabilitated sea turtles. This cutie is Puck, a juvenile hawksbill turtle rehabilitated by the North Carolina Sea Turtle Project. The researchers were excited to shellebrate his return to the wild!

Request:Yay requests are open! I'd like to a fluffy scenario with seokjin! Like, they're dating and you know how people think jins jokes are bad? (I think they're great) well maybe seokjin and y/n decide to have a pun/joke battle to see who's funnier and then it turns into a tickle fight and then ends with cute kisses and "I love you"? Genre: Fluff.

You rolled your eyes in fake annoyance to Jin’s former joke, against your will the smile was tugging at the corner of your lips and the laughter was bubbling on your stomach ready for you to let go but you were refusing to give in, Jin was funny yes, but he was getting extra cocky that day with his jokes and you could be as funny as him, but guy wasn’t giving you any chance to prove your greatness since he was either saying a joke or making you laugh himself, or distracting you with those sinful lips of his. Not that you complained of course.

-C’mon Y/N- Jin said, almost tearing up because of his own joke, his eyes were red and moist while he doubled in laughter by your side of the bed. -You know that was a good one-

You ended up laughing with him because honestly, it was just contagious.

-It is babe- you cleaned a stray tear rolling down his cheek, he was really enjoying himself that day.

You were chillin at your place and since the moment he arrived you noticed Seokjin was in an extra good mood that day, you loved to see him so relaxed and goofy, he said it had a lot to be with you but you suspected it had also a lot to be with the fact he’d just added about ten new jokes to his personal collection and he was sharing them all with you.

Jin was adorable, and he was made fun of his jokes but you liked them because you shared the same sense of humor than him.

-I have a better one- you said playfully, moving on your bed to take a seat on top of him.

Your boyfriend rose an eyebrow to you. -Oh you do?-

-Yes, I do babe- you leaned down for a kiss and his hands found place on your waist - Lots of them-

Seokjin huffed. -So mines aren’t good enough?-

-I’m not saying that- you pecked his lips again while giggling. -But most probably, I can be funnier than you-

-Oh how dare you?- Seokjin laughed loudly and shook his head, his hair was messy against your pillow and you loved the sight of him like this. -You are my girl, you are supposed to support me-

-And I do, but as your girlfriend I must be honest with you-

-You can’t be funnier than me, that’s my job- He mumbled fuming.

-Oh do I sense some denial in here?- you laughed hitting his shoulder and he shrugged.

-Just saying that this is my lane Y/N- you saw he was getting into competitive mode already, because if there was something your cute boyfriend took a lot of pride on, were his dad jokes and he wasn’t quite ready to drop his jokes master title, not even for you.

-Let’s compete then, if you are really the greatest you don’t have to fear baby-

Jin looked at you suspicious.

-We need public to decide-

Both of you thought long and hard on how to do this and at the end, you settled for video calling Jin’s friends so they could take the final decision.

You sat on the bed and placed his phone on a chair so they could look at you good enough.

There were Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook because Yoongi and Namjoon were out for the time being.

-Alright guys, we have gathered you here together because we have something important to do- you said smiling and Jin leaned forward so his body covered you.

-Miss Y/N here thinks she can be funnier than me! We need your opinion to solve this and see who’s the funnier between us- he said and Jungkook intervened.

-Anyone can be funnier than you hyung- he said smirking and Hoseok tapped his head while Jimin cackled on the side and Taehyung high fived him.

-This is serious Jungkook!-

It looked indeed pretty serious to Jin, he looked so cute all focused, you should start focusing too and thinking of what you were going to say but your boyfriend was too distracting.

-Honestly hyung, do we really have to do this?- Taehyung complained and Jin nodded.

-Yes, you do, now everyone, hear me up- Jin had a hand raised in front of his face thinking and then he started to laugh by his own. -Ah this is a good one-

He laughed some more until he took a deep breath.

-What is the color of a hamburger?- he asked looking at you all. -Burgundy! -

He said excited and you had to disguise your laugh behind your hand, Taehyung did the same but Hoseok fell down of the couch laughing and Jimin was choking, Jungkook just groaned on the corner shaking his head with a smile.

-You have to admit that was a really good one- Your boyfriend said hugging his middle, he was still laughing from it.

-Alright hyung, now it’s noona’s turn-

You nodded to Hoseok, you didn’t want to keep smiling to not give Jin too much confidence from the start.

-Alright guys, I have to say that whenever I’m sad I read my blood’s ID- they all stayed silent for a moment before Jin asked why. -Because it says B positive-

By then end of that Hoseok had stood up clapping with joy and they all laughed, even Jungkook who had refused to laugh to Jin’s previous joke, so as you saw it, you were winning this round.

-Do you know who the most powerful father is?- Seokjin asked, making a pause for drama and licked his smiling lips. -Godfather! -

You saw Jimin laughing with a grimace, obviously against his will, so did the rest, Jungkook had just decided to cover his head entirely pulling his hoodie down his face but you could see his body shaking and you used a pillow to hush down your laughter.

After that you cleared your throat, it was your turn again.

-I really wanted to tell you guys an animal joke but… it’s irrelephant-

Seokjin lost it by your side and as always, Jimin was the first one to laugh his soul out.

-I got one better- your boyfriend said as if he hadn’t been dying after the joke you said.

-Oh please no…- Jungkook mumbled under his breath.

-What do you call a famous turtle? A shellebrity-

You clapped with that one, laughing so much, but not as much as Hoseok who had thrown himself over Taehyung laughing along.

-Alright now it’s my turn- you pulled yourself together, things were getting even and you needed to use something clever.

-Why can’t a bicycle stand on its own?-

-I almost don’t want to ask why, but why? - Taehyung asked with a smirk ready on his face. You took a deep breath, stopping yourself from choking with your own laughter.

-Because it’s two tired!-

Jungkook facepalmed himself laughing and Jin’s hand hit your thigh while he laughed.

You all had to regain your breaths after that, your stomach was hurting already and it was Jin’s turn again.

-What is called when a cow laughs?- he asked when you were all finally in silence, Jin’s hand on the mattress was so close to your you held it before he continued. Then he looked at your eyes like that joke was just for you.

-What?- Hoseok asked anticipating it.

You saw Jin’s face starting to turn bright red while he fought to hold in his laughter.

-Moo-ha-ha-ha! - he said excited, attacking your belly with tickles until both of you fell on each other laughing with that one and your futile tries to tickle him back, you were all losing it.

-My pride hurts for laughing- Jimin complained between laughs.

You took a look at Jin and his eyes were filled with tears for laughing so much, just as yours were. You reached for his face and started to clean his tears while you laughed together.

-Oh my God baby- you could barely talk, falling over and over again on Jin’s shoulder because you couldn’t keep yourself straight.

-I knew you were going to like that one- he said with tender even if his voice was wrecked and his laughing barely let him talk.

-I freaking love it! - you laughed, holding tight onto his hands. -You have the best sense of humor Jin- you said giving in.

He smiled proudly, surrounding your shoulders with an arm.

-No, you do babe, nobody laughs at my jokes the way you do, we are like… meant to be-

Both of you laughed some more after that and it was Jin who started to clean the happy tears wetting your cheeks.

-Awn Jin…- you said between laughter, he was such an amazing boyfriend, it was true sometimes you wanted to groan at his jokes but honestly you loved them and a big part of that was because Seokjin himself loved them so much it made him happy and you always wanted to see him like this. -I love you-

You leaned  forward to peck his lips lovingly, your breathing was finally getting easy.

-I love you too Y/N-

-Alright kiddos, this is our cue to go, you both won this, goodbye- Hoseok said ending the call and you fell again on Jin laughing, his arms surrounded your frame, he kissed you, or at least tried to while both of you shook with the joy of laughter and love while cuddling on your small bed.

A Shellebration of 21 Turtley Amazing Origami Turtles and Tortoises

Just as there's a huge variety of different species of turtles and tortoises in real life there's also a very diverse variety of origami ones too. First up is Satoshi Kamiya's awesome loggerhead turtle. The pattern on the back of the shell is fantastic.
