The J.A.C.I.E. Project, Pt.5
Tumblr media
JACIE Jay-see \ d͡ʒˈe͡ɪsi \ See Jennifer Anna Clara Isabell Evans. An ambitious 21-year-old music student, striving to find her place in the industry.
JACK Jak \ d͡ʒæk \ A guy ten years older than Jacie, who takes a liking to her.
Chapter 5
After our breakfast date, Jack and I kept messaging each other. We saw each other a few more times. Less for cute little meetups during the day and more for late night ‘meetups’. I was not complaining, though. Just like Sarah had said, once you find somebody as good as him, it’s difficult to ever go back to the mediocre sex you used to have. It continued to stay as good and thrilling, even after I had come over a handful of times.
The first few times, I’d come over and leave almost straight after. It started with him only booty calling me after he had gone out for drinks in town. Then he’d also hit me up when he wasn’t drunk. Eventually, I started spending the nights at his place, which was just heaven because his bed was beautiful. Then, time started stretching, and we’d spend even more time together. We didn’t go on dates, but I’d be hanging out at his house for a few more hours after we woke up.
It was pretty difficult to cover and hide from my dad, but I somehow managed. I’d used the friends excuse a few too many times. Luckily, he didn’t question it. I often spent quite a lot of time outside the house, even back in high school, so it wasn’t much different. He just didn’t need to know that I was going off to a guy’s house to get my brains fucked out.
By now, I had also figured out a bit more about Jack. I already knew that he had siblings, but I now also knew that he had a brother and sister. He also told me that he was originally Lebanese, and how his parents fled to Canada and the US. Mainly, however, I finally figured out which band he was in after he showed me one of the records up on the wall. The entire time, I was tempted to google him, to find it all out, but I was restraining myself. I didn’t want to be that girl, the one who would figure out everything about him online. That was just creepy. I didn’t want to ruin the little thing we had going.
After yet another successful night, I found myself on Jack’s couch sitting in my panties and one of his black hoodies that engulfed me. He’d even let me touch and play his guitars. Not the ones up on the wall that were supposed to be an artwork, but the actual ones that he played as well. They were nicer than anything I could even dream about affording.
It was actually bad weather for once in LA. The rain was pattering on the window and balcony, creating a white noise that filled the silence. Jack was just sitting on the armchair he had perpendicular to the couch, watching and listening to me play random songs. It was nice to spend time like this with him. We didn’t need sex to fill up all the empty time.
“You have a nice voice,” Jack mumbled to adapt his voice to the quiet surroundings while I was strumming some chords.
“Thanks,” I smiled, my fingers still moving along the fretboard. “It’s actually pretty useful when I’m writing songs. And also for me to make a little money on the side.”
“A little money on the side?” He cocked his head up a little from where he was resting it on his hand.
“Yeah.” I nodded. “Some people on my course ask me to sing for their songs. Not everybody who studies music can sing. It’s fun and it brings in a little money.”
“That’s a lot less sexual than you made it seem initially.”
“Not everything I do is sexual. Actually, most things I do aren’t.”
He hummed in response, listening to me play again. It wasn’t that loud, but I still had all of his attention. “Will you sing another song, please?”
I nodded, thinking of another song I could both play and sing. My mind was always full of songs and things I could play until somebody suddenly requested I play them something. It was like my mind went completely blank. I switched to plucking some of the strings, playing random notes until I started hearing something that sounded a lot like a song I did know. Slowly, I transitioned into that song playing my own version of The One That Got Away.
Everybody could say whatever they wanted about Katy Perry and judge her, but she had some bops. Including this amazing song. It was so calming and it sounded so good with the rain in the background. The weather decided to throw in some low rumbling as well, finishing the whole picture.
Jack just listened and watched the entire time, letting me do my thing. I really wished that I could read what was going on in his head. He seemed content, but I had no idea what was going on behind those brown eyes of his. Was he enjoying this like I was? Or was he trying to figure out a way to make me leave? He was the one that asked me to play another song. But still, it was such a big mystery.
I finished the song, playing the last chord and singing the last line. For the first time in the past half hour, I didn’t immediately start playing something new. Instead, I just looked at Jack, who was smiling at me, and cocked my head to the side.
“You wanna take a turn playing something?” I asked, pushing the guitar off me an inch, but not really moving from my spot between all the pillows.
He shook his head, leaning further into the armrest. “No, I play for a living. It’s nice listening to somebody else.”
“I play for my degree.” I raised an eyebrow back at him.
“Touché…” He rested his head against the back of the chair, continuing to stare at me. “But I like hearing you play.”
“Alright.”
I went back to playing. It was just some random notes. There wasn’t a specific song I was trying to play, I just played a few things that sounded right together. You know, like you do when you’re absent mindedly playing. Slowly but surely, I started imagining a melody over it and started humming along. There were a few words that came to mind, but nothing big enough for me to actually try singing on top of it.
Not that I could ever even get to that stage. I was interrupted by a loud knock on the front door and it suddenly opened without a proper warning. Jack’s eyes immediately snapped towards the commotion, as did mine. How couldn’t they? There was some guy who I definitely had never seen before, but who clearly was close enough to Jack to just burst in like that.
“I brought lunch!” The guy with black hair announced before he even noticed my presence, and held up a paper bag of some fast food place.
I awkwardly scratched the side of my face before putting the guitar next to me on the couch. “I believe that’s my queue to leave.”
I could feel the two sets of eyes on me as I stood up and went into Jack’s room to get changed. I closed the door behind myself, leaving it ajar for some unknown reason. It just felt like I wasn’t hiding myself, like I wasn’t trying to run away. Which was the truth. I had to leave anyway, and Jack’s friend was here to hang out with him now. Leaving the door ajar, though, got me a bit more than I bargained for.
I pulled off Jack’s hoodie and was folding it up to put on his bed, when I realised I could hear every word being exchanged back in the living room.
“Dude, that’s the girl you’ve been fucking recently?” Jack’s friend gasped when I gently put the hoodie on Jack’s bed.
I practically rolled my eyes when I picked up my shirt from the floor and slipped it on. Of course, Jack had been talking about our adventures. For some reason, I hadn’t expected any less.
There was a short silence before Jack answered. “Umm… yeah. She’s pretty cool.”
“And hot. You chose well with this one.”
Like he chose me and I wasn’t the one who chose him. He was the one who came onto me. It was my choice to pursue it. I could have easily left him empty handed at that bar. Instead, I let him grab multiple handfuls of me in bed that night.
I decided to throw on my blue jeans before I heard any more degrading remarks.
“She’s a music student,” Jack added. “Pretty good one too.”
“A student! Damn, Jack.”
I picked up the small shoulder bag I had brought with me the evening before, and pulled out my phone to order yet another Uber. Almost all my money was going towards transport to and from Jack’s by now. But you win some, you lose some, right? I was winning a lot, but it did have a price.
I walked out of Jack’s room and headed for the front door. “I’ll be leaving then.”
“I’ll text you,” Jack promised as my hand grazed the door handle.
“Sure ya will,” I teased back.
“Hey, when haven’t I?”
Yeah… when hadn’t he? There was a reason why I came back so many times.

Hey can you clear something up from the w draft for me? During the NY v Sky game they showed how the lottery works and how Indiana got first pick. So if Indiana wasn’t first pick who was first would probably pull Clark bc she’s number 1 pick? Idk how to explain it I hope you understand what I mean…. Like does rhat mean the girls are in a list best to not as good and the team that picks them is just based on lottery?
yes and no
a lot of the time there’s a consensus #1 pick, which means that everyone agrees this person is #1 no matter what.
after that, or even when there is isn’t, it boils down to what a team needs. if you watched the draft lottery this year, you know that it was phoenix, seattle, la, and indiana that were battling it out for those top 4 picks.
it’s all about who’s available and what the team needs. there’s not necessarily an order for the girls to be picked in. draft big boards are just predictions for what might occur. for example, aaliyah was projected to be taken 5th by dallas this year. but they wanted a big guard, so they took jacy sheldon. washington was looking for a big, so they took aaliyah.

Morgan County Dungeon (2) by Jaci Starkey
Via Flickr:
Prisoners convicted of rioting, larceny and adultery in Morgan County between 1833 and 1839 were confined to a dungeon near the Court House in McConnelsville. This stone vault, 11 feet high, 5 feet wide and 12 feet long, was discovered in 1964 and is believed to have been used as the county dungeon. The Morgan County Pomona Grange #81 in co-operation with the County Commissioners and the County Agricultural Society reconstructed the structure on this site in 1965 as a community service project.

I know I'm looking ahead but next doll project idea...
I already have an immy doll but why not make one again lol. As @/moltentarts suggested the Wild Hearts Jacy doll is perfect for immy's body type
The Barbie 2021 Holiday Brunette doll has a very immy face! The hair is as close as it can get (maybe I'll try rerooting for the first time and give her proper curls!) and her face is Very Immy. I'd just need to fully paint her eyes black
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for clothes the Jacy skirt can be DIY'ed fairly easy to be Immy's style. I can probably whip up an easy top with lace

Post-Seasons details #2
Read #1 here Again, spoilers for the ending of Seasons are ahead, so please be careful proceeding beyond the read-more line. ;)
Bee's house that he shares with Pierce is relatively small and quaint, and I imagine it decorated a lot like my paternal grandmother's house (and her sister's house, too, and some of her friends we would visit when she had me for the day when I was little). Basically, yes, all those craft-store project type decorations, some plants in some windows, stuff like that. ...But then I'm about to tell you Bee and Pierce met at a club that caters specifically to kinksters, from spankos to abdl and such, and their kinks are somewhat evident in the house too. Yes, more than just that paddle on the wall! Bee and Pierce will eventually have cats. They'll keep them indoors (spirits are very good about this for environmental protection reasons), but Bee has tons of bird feeders and such set up in his backyard. Bee is the child closest to Vivian (barring Jacy from this bc she's got a different childhood experience) and Graham (who is his favorite father). While Vivian travels with Phineas regularly for a while, he always returns to the orchard with Phineas, and Bee would spend the most time with him. Vivian is rarely at Bee's house once Pierce and Bee buy it, and when he tries to drop by, Bee has to hurry to hide any signs of his kink ASAP in a panic :') (They don't have to worry about Graham visiting very often, since his health won't allow him to walk long distances, and he doesn't drive.) Bee is closest to Shannon in adulthood than any of his other siblings! Shannon was usually the one who would take (younger) Bee to visit Vivian when he was in town. He's also the one who helped Bee get into college and learn how to juggle his bills. (btw feel free to send asks if you have further questions or want more details! just be wary of spoiling too much in the ask itself in case others haven't finished Seasons!)

The J.A.C.I.E. Project, Pt.4
Chapter 4
I was sitting at the dining table, a blank piece of paper in front of me and a pen between my teeth. The midday sun was providing me most of my light through the large window at the front of the house. I was busy trying to write a song for one of my classes, but was really struggling with my lyrics. As much as I loved writing them, having a specific assignment could make it very difficult, especially if inspiration just wasn’t hitting.
It was three days after my birthday. I still occasionally thought about my night with Jack, especially late at night. But I wasn’t expecting anything more to come out of it. Although I had given him my number, I knew how those things usually went. They never even show a single sign of life, let alone any further interest in me. As much as I would have loved to spend another few hours in Jack’s bed, I didn’t have my hopes up.
Much like every other uninspired procrastinator out there, I had my phone close next to me to keep me distracted. I kept telling myself to leave it be, but ever buzz and notification caught my attention and made me spiral into a social media loop again. This time, it was a text from an unknown number that gave me another not-very-well-deserved well deserved break.
Unknown: J.A.C.I.E?
Me: Yeah?
Unknown: Hey! It’s Jack, the guy from your birthday
Me: Hi! I remember very well actually
Of course. It was three days later. He had decided to follow the rule that made you wait three days before contacting somebody you’re sexually or romantically interested in.
Unknown: Just wanted to ask if you’d like to grab some breakfast tomorrow?
Me: Breakfast?
Unknown: To make up for not offering you any last time
Me: I was the one who left for brunch, you couldn’t have offered it even if you wanted to
Unknown: Well, I’d still like to take you
Me: Tomorrow morning?
Unknown: Yeah
Me: Let me check my schedule
I quit the text messages and went on the internet to have a look at my class timetable. Asking me out to breakfast was a little strange. Not that I didn’t like it. I was just very used to getting a 2am ‘u up?’ text if some guy decided to hit me up again. Breakfast to me seemed like a very foreign thing to do if not straight after sex.
Me: Alright, I have a class at 3pm. So, hopefully that’s not too early for you
Unknown: Oh wow, still judging me for not waking up at ungodly hours like you?
Me: 9am is not an ungodly hour. It’s very normal for a day off
Unknown: It’s ungodly after a night of heavy drinking
Me: You jealous?
Unknown: A little
Unknown: Anyway, how about we say 10 then? Which area are you in?
Me: 10 works for me and I’m in Eagle Rock
Unknown: How about we meet half way then? Ever heard of Wild Oak Cafe?
Me: Heard of it, never been
Unknown: I’ll see you there then
Me: I’ll add it to my schedule
Unknown: Maybe you can use it as an excuse for somebody else this time ;)
I went back to trying to write my song, still struggling, but at least getting a few words down. I had to do something. There was no way I could stay up all night trying to do some of the work if I was expected to be somewhere in the morning. I couldn’t show up to breakfast late and all groggy. Getting sleep was important that night.
I hated being late; I always avoided it. Of course, however, I was late to my breakfast with Jack the next morning. It wasn’t exactly my fault, and it wasn’t like I was horribly late, but it still felt horrible. I was one of those people who liked being ten minutes early. What time did I park in the parking lot? Ten past ten. And what time did I finally make it inside? Quarter past ten. Fifteen minutes late was technically twenty-five minutes late, which was practically half an hour late.
My eyes fell on Jack who was already sitting at a small table for two people. He was tapping his foot and scrolling through his phone, not really paying attention to what was happening around him. I just walked straight up to him, since even I didn’t seem to catch his eye when I walked in.
“Hey!” I approached him, finally getting him to look up at me.
“Jacie!” He smiled and put down his phone.
“I’m so sorry I’m late,” I apologised and sat down, straightening out my yellow sundress.
“It’s good, you’re not that late,” he brushed it off. “Although… with your sense of planning I was expecting you to come early, so I came early as well.”
“Usually I am, you got that right. But my dad decided last minute that I needed to bring my brother to school when I first left my bedroom. So I did that in my pajamas and had to go back to change.”
“You have a brother?”
“Yeah, a little brother,” I always smiled when I spoke about him, “he’s six.”
“Really? That’s awesome. I’ve got two siblings who are ten years older than me!” He grinned in excitement as if he was glad we had something in common… sort of.
“So you’re actually the young one, eh?”
“Turns out we both might be.” He handed me a menu. “Anyway, I haven’t ordered anything yet, so take a look.”
I scanned over the menu and nearly choked when I saw the prices. This place wasn’t overly expensive. It wasn’t boujee or only for VIPs. But it was definitely generally out of my price range. I spent that much money on my birthday, but that was a special occasion. Jack didn’t even seem fazed by it. Let’s just say it was very LA. Everything about it was, the food and prices. I absolutely loved it and absolutely hated it.
“Is there something specific I’m looking for here?” I asked, trying to test the waters a little.
Was Jack going to offer to pay? If he was, I didn’t want to order something too expensive. Was I going to pay for my food? Because then my only option was a glass of water and a muffin. Maybe he’d offer to pay and really didn’t care what I got. I didn’t know. Money was a difficult thing.
“I don’t know, what do you like?” He tried helping, not really giving an answer to my hidden question.
“Anything under ten dollars,” I half-joked.
“Oh, no, don’t worry about that. I invited you, choose whatever you want.”
It didn’t really make my choice much easier. What was acceptable to get? Then again, it was all around the same price, so it probably didn’t mean much. Except for the salmon breakfast. But why would I want to get that? I wasn’t that fancy. I was LA, but I was not rich LA.
“Was the sex good enough for pancakes?” I inquired.
Jack’s eyes slipped up from his menu and he bit his lip to hold back a smirk. “It was good enough for pancakes, waffles, and mimosas.”
“Well, that’s an honour. I don’t think I’ve ever been rated that high before.”
“I’ll even throw in a few coffees as well.”
He closed his menu to signal that he had chosen what he wanted. I followed his actions, putting it down on the table and crossing my hands over it. Soon after, a waiter approached us and asked us for our order. Jack gave it, recounting everything he told me: pancakes, waffles, mimosas, and two coffees. Surprisingly, I wasn’t asked for an ID, usually I was. Our menus were taken away and we were left to only talk to each other again.
“So, Jacie…” Jack started, tapping his fingers against the table.
“Yeah?” I crossed my legs and leaned back into my chair.
He leaned forward to compensate for the new distance. “Tell me about yourself?”
“Tell you about myself? This sounds strangely like an interview for a job.”
“I’ve gotta make it go full circle,” he defended himself.
“I have actually gone to so many different interviews, I have answers memorised. You don’t want me to fall into that rehearsed script, trust me,” I laughed.
“Okay, I’ll steer clearly away from that then.” He nodded playfully. “How did you interview at Fueled by Ramen go?”
“About as well as I expected,” I shrugged with indifference. “I’m pretty sure I will not be getting that position. But I do still need to find an internship somewhere.”
“Why do you need to find one?”
“I opted to do one as part of my degree. Work experience is always good to have if you want to get somewhere.”
“Right! That makes a lot of sense, actually…” He obviously hadn’t considered the fact that I could have still been a student. “What do you study?”
I smiled. “Music. It’s pretty general, but since it’s my last year, I’ve been mainly focusing on writing and production.”
“Ah, I can see you’re not the managing type.”
“Oh, no, I don’t mind managing.” I corrected quickly with a shake of my head. “That’s the next best thing, really.”
He frowned as our mimosas arrived. “But you said that internship wasn’t for you?”
“I said Experience Management wasn’t my thing. Why would I want to have a job in posting what events and concerts will be happening and actually have nothing to do with the organisation in any way?”
“Huh, yeah, that does sound pretty boring,” he agreed with a chuckle. “I didn’t even know they had people specifically for that.”
“You’d think they’d have a general social media person for that, right?”
“I’ve done my fair share of posting things like that, but it’s promo for myself, so it’s fun.”
“I fully expect somebody’s just bored of the job themselves,” I admitted and leaned back in to take a sip from my drink, which was one of the best mimosas I had ever tasted. “So, all they could think of to make it more bearable was to hire an unpaid intern.”
“Oof, yeah, that’s a no from me.”
“I can do so much better than that.”
Jack grinned at me as he looked me in the eyes, picking up his own glass as well. “Yes, you definitely can.”

Original Fic: grey clouds/lightning strike by @abramdeath on ao3
Fandom: Green Creek
Relationship: Oxnard Matheson/Joseph Bennett, Gordo Livingstone/Mark Bennett
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Ox is a witch, Robbie is a witch, Alternate Universe - Coffee Shops & Cafés
Audio Length: 20 minutes, 26 seconds
Summary:
Mark rubs at the stubble on his jaw and says, "My family is coming back to town." Ox blinks. He's not entirely sure the significance of that, other than mentioning Mark's family makes Gordo instantly irate and Mark on edge. He's pretty sure he's heard them arguing about someone named Thomas, before it spiraled back to Gordo's father, and then Mark wasn't allowed past the cafe wards for a week. Not entirely sure how to broach the touchiness of the subject, Ox nods and asks, "So?" "They're good people," Mark says quickly. "There's just a lot of old family drama. It's complicated." "Old family drama," Ox parrots back. "Sounds like a running theme in our lives. We'll be fine." ox, gordo, and robbie are witches that work at gordo's cafe, and the bennetts are still werewolves.

Celebrating the national day of Wales, St David's Day, with Welsh journalist and regular Daily Mail columnist Jaci Stephens and discussing her new project of learning Spanish, as well as discussing planning her first visit to Mexico. It is always exciting to be able to share my enthusiasm and experiences of Mexico in the collective aim that we can all contribute to challenging some of the popular stereotypes that persist.
