I think Rayla might know about the second dark spell. I mean it’s not hard to figure out to be honest. How else do the others think he might’ve escaped? None of his sky spells could do anything surely, and he had the component needed for the specific dark spell he needed. I think she does know deep down, she just doesn’t want to believe it. So Rayla ignores the possibility. She wasn’t mad at him for long last time. Before she was more worried about him then what he did.

I had the suspicion after I dreamt dark creatures I made up for the dragon prince called the Nigrum, mocked Rayla in a nightmare about her knowing even though she denied it. Basically they say that if Callum does end up going down a dark path, they plagued her heart with uncertainty asking the question. “Would she walk it with him?”

It's so interesting to me how my goofy TDP comics get much more likes and reblogs but the weird horny Viravos comics get me more new followers. Lol I see what's going on here.

So, I'm brand new to TDP, and just binged the whole show with a friend. Not sure how the fandom feels about it yet, but anyone else really disappointed with the time skip?

Like, I feel like there was so much potential there for good stuff! The three major things I think we missed out on:

The development of Amaya's romance

Rayla's quest for revenge and eventual realization that she already had something way more important

Claudia's meeting Terry and having adventures while trying to collect the stuff for her potion

I feel especially mad about Rayla's missed plot, because she leaves as a character we like and returns as a character we like, so it's hard to relate to why Callum is so angry at her. They explain it and it makes sense logically, but it's a classic show don't tell situation.

The best I can figure, there was no season in between because none of those things involve the two main boys especially: Ezra and Callum. But, seriously, you couldn't find anything for them to do? I feel like Ezra taking on his father's role could have had lots of potential, and investing more time in Callum as the high mage would have made his susceptibility to Aaravos all the more anxiety-inducing!

I was pretty disappointed. Would love to hear what others think and what the general fandom's reaction was!

A huge part of me wants to write a one shot about Soren having kids of his own and instead of the usual “Oh, now I understand my parents and why they did what they did and now give them full forgiveness”, I say fuck that and have him go “I understand why my father used dark magic to revive me. But I hate him even more now for the way he treated me later on.” and “I hate my mom even more now for not even bothering to communicate with us, her own children, after she left.”

Yes, I see both of Soren’s parents as being in the wrong for different things and failed him and Claudia. And yes, I want Soren to see that and promise to be better than both of them.

When team Zym are in the dark tunnel of Umber Tor. All I could think of was:

“It’s so dark down here. I can’t see a thing.”

“Oh no! What a nightmare!”

“Sorry.”

Also those creatures were a lot like the death angels from A Quiet Place. They even had VERY similar body structures. Except they have eyes and are sensitive to light instead of sound.

I just have to take a moment to appreciate this.

I check my user stats every day, and this story was juuust at 900 this morning. Now, by this evening, it is over 1000. Just wow. My goal for 2023 was to have a story reach 1000 hits, and it's already been done by day 2. (Yes, I posted the first part in December, but still!)

Fanfiction writers do not write for praise - hell, we write for creative release, for what could be, and for ourselves. Posting a fic is like baring a little piece of your soul - because you are posting your own headcanon (be it wrong or right, accepted or dejected), and you're subjecting yourself (in equal parts) to both potential love and hate. It's vulnerable.

I posted Through The Surface a month ago, as a one shot, and people clamored for a continuation...and I am so, so happy I listened. (See? Your comments do make a difference!) To see that's its garnered over 1000 views (and in a small community, none the less) in just about a month is absolutely amazing. The fact that TDP is not a big community makes it even more meaningful.

(I know there are potential for bots, too, but thankfully, I don't think I've been subject to this...yet. I know these could be false stats but I don't think so. I haven't gotten the really hug wave of kudos...it's all been very gradual since I've posted.)

Anyway, thank you so much to anyone who has read, commented, and left kudos. I am only just touching the surface (see what I did there) of my DP fanfiction, and I can't wait to share the rest of my pieces with you.
