It started as a commisioner wanted me to make a Mechanical-Faced TAOT/Robots inspired Thomas design. After it went well on my other socials, I turned it into an AU.

What is Thomas and Friends Rebooted?

It is a reboot that embraces the mechanical and grounded heritage of the aesthetic and character designs by making the engines faces metal with hinged mouths and eyebrows to symbolize this reboot's choice to be as grounded as it can.

What is your ideal main cast/Steam Team? Who will be part of it apart from the RWS 11 and Emily? Is Molly a part of the main cast considering that many said she should have been a main character?

Hi 👋 I actually don’t have a main cast as I tend to switch about characters depending on the arcs and stories so everyone is the main character depending on the focus (think Stories of Sodor).

I know other folks have said it but hot take I don’t really like the Steam Team concept so I made little groups like the express/big engine gang (Gordon, Rebecca, Pip & Emma, etc) the branch lines gangs like the Ffarquhar or Little Western team or W&S like where Emily is at. So Molly is also a main character though she worked at the Peel Godred then at Great Waterton.

Oh I see how it is. When Neopolitan beats one of the mains to a bloody pulp it's forgivable because she looked a little sad but when I ADAM TAURUS do the exact same thing it's suddenly unforgivable. /heavy j obviously but the double standard is absolutely insane.

Emerald guyfight or hal suicide exploration

Emerald Guyfight: my "Hal loses the fight in GL (1990) #25" AU. I've talked abt this one with you as well as publically a good deal but it follows canon divergence Hal throughout the rest of Jones' GL and Emerald Twilight, before going into New Dawn(?) Or whatever the Kyle intro era is called. This wip splits pretty clearly in two POV wise, with GL #25-50 being redone almost exclusively from Hal's pov, and then everything after being mixed pov with John, Kyle, mystery additions, etc. Not sure how this wip is set to end however, or if I'd want to leave it at the end of the Zero Hour/GL#0 timeframe and resolve it there, or stick closer to canon and do my own vers of Final Night.

A snippet from my vers of GL #25

I mainly have the Halguy fight scenes drafted, as well as a few bits of Hal's thoughts to himself as he travels to Oa in my vers of GL 49 (as well as like half an unfinished John & Hal scene immediately after the snippet above). Decided to go with a bit of the first fight scene here (despite hating writing action) because I wanted smth au specific and didn't want to spoil the best parts of the 2nd Halguy fight (a draft I which I think I also posted somewhere, but need to edit bc i added an important plot element)

Anyways yeah. Think this is an au which will probably be split into two fics between a #25-50 Hal pov fic and a rotating pov response to the aftermath and all that comes with it, from the povs of the surviving old + new GL characters.

Hal Suicide Exploration:

This is just a vague idea but I'm p sure I read GL (2011) #18 [aka Hal's talk w Tomar-Re's spirit and following suicide to escape the black ring] around the same time Knight Terrors was being released irl, which left a few thoughts in my head. While I haven't actually read the green lantern knight terrors stuff or any of the event, the vibes stuck with me, especially that one panel with Hal being dwarfed by the giant apparition of himself as Parallax. So I like to think that this idea would really focus on him being trapped in some sort of nightmare or nightmarish realm mirroring in some way GL (2011) #18 with figures of his dead friends and just following up on the threads of this pattern of suicidal behavior as well as like guilt and responsibility over stuff like parallax (Among other things). Something where he has to say what he already knows aloud in order to fight it. Quite likely literally as I may have him be hunted a bit by the figure of parallax (only to dispel it by claiming the apparition as false and parallax as his own actions

Demetri doesn’t fight, neither does Anita. So it’s down to six. Nick and Lena would destroy each other, they’ve got a HUGE rivalry (football vs. cheerleaders) In a fight between Emerald and Nero… Anthony and Emerald would probably team up to beat him and then Cecilia would take out Emerald

That leaves Anthony and Cecilia

And between the two of them, Cecilia would win. Anthony knows how to fight with a sword, but Cecilia has a vicious streak that would give her the edge

in a complete fantasy world whwre your reboot gets made, full length and complete creative control, what meduim would you pick? 3d animation, 2d, live action...?

the ideal animation style to me would be something similar to into the spiderverse where it meshes comic book aspects with animation, as an ode to mirage & because i think comic books are sort of like. a grand representation of childhood. colorful and creative and clever and full of dreamer ideals and such. i can’t quite describe it well but comics always seem like a good representation of being a kid. and that’s what this story is about, at its core- four brothers being kids who happen to save the world, but more importantly, each other. plus, it’s really a comic-esque adventure- it’s introspective in nature but it IS very much an action series. there’s a bazillion fight scenes. i think incorporating comic book aspects (framing, little sound effects, etc) during fight scenes is SO COOL.

i think 3-d where it’s also treated as 2-d, where they’re not afraid to get a little wacky, is SUPER fun. i honestly really liked the tmnt2012 models, at least for the turtles- they remained super expressive, unique, and the fighting sequences were fucking AWESOME. my only complaint was that because they had a limited budget New York, the city that never sleeps, always looked so empty (and i also think some of the human models were a little meh). so like if 3d was done i don’t want the background of things to always be so barren; i like that rise has a lot of shots of new york where it looks like it’s bustling with life and i want to be certain that not only are the characters well animated, but their environment is ALSO well cared for and detailed. so if the series had the budget transformers prime did and the materials and care and live to do it justice, then i think a strong 3-d style that mimicked a comic book would be my complete ideal

but if we had to be realistic, 2D would be the way to go. i just don’t really think 3D kids animation is all that great (like im not really impressed with miraculous ladybug, for example) which is fair, because it’s a limited budget over the course of many episodes. i think 2d, probably a similar cartoon style to either Steven universe/adventure time or an anime-esque look would be good enough for me! i do so love 2-d
