So I started making a thing for real...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since making these I've figured out a better way to do dialouge boxes so future ones will be better xD
I thought for a bit I'd wait till I was all done with this to publish it, but I am an impatient creature who likes interaction, so I'll just publish it in batches (so might be a while between updates as I have The Wicked Prince comic here and my Dracula sequal over on my main blog to do as well)
But hope ya'll enjoy this little offering!

i think you've just about got me convinced to start shipping snow white and hades tbh
they remind me v specifically of the silly symphony cartoon where a very devil-adjacent hades kidnaps her but lets her go cause he cant stand to see her sad
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
probably because this persephone feels very similar to snow white, coming from a similar time in animation and all that
Thank you so much! I'm glad I could convince you into shipping them! That means my posts about them are working Mwahahaha!! ╮(≧∀≦)╭ ✨🔥✨
Anyway, I love that Disney short film. Snow White and Hades definitely remind me of it too.
As my friend said to me, “it's a small world” because it's funny that you mention The Goddess of Spring and it's animation because I was going to make a post about the fact that the 1934 Silly Symphony short film served as an experimental workshop for Disney animators, preparing them for Snow White!
So basically, Persephone is Disney's first (lesser-known) princess who came before Snow White.
Thank you so much for the ask! 💋✨

Persephone in "The Goddess of Spring"
It's been a while...
Tumblr media
I don't know why I put off watching this for so long because I've been aware of it for years. It's also just on YouTube if you want to watch it. It literally took my best friend being like, "You wanna watch this? it's only ten minutes" to finally get me there.
This is early Disney and by that I mean noodle limbs. We got a good chuckle right in the beginning. The time period this was made is also apparent by the fact that its basically an opera.
The myth is told in an extremely simplified way that is honestly, weirdly progressive. There's no Demeter. There are no pomegranate seeds. The plot is just: Persephone is happy above with her weird creatures, Hades kidnaps her and tries to make her happy in the underworld with a giant diamond, she's not happy and asks to go home, and he consents. That's it.
There's a lot to like about this simplified version really. Persephone just asks for what she wants. Hades, realizing he messed up, grants it. No one is tricked. There's no metaphor for adulthood necessarily. There's no weird daughter/wife ownership. Therein though also lies the draw back. It's a great message for simply standing up for yourself and not letting things just happen to you, but it also lacks a lot of the depth and nuance of the myth. Win some, lose some. Also the music kind of sucks and Hades looks like the Biblical devil. I guess that also gives us a positive depiction of the Christian devil? Milton eat your heart out.

New headcanon idea, what if Veil, the demon priestess overseer over Frollo, was actually either the sister or daughter of either Lord Dickon from Feathertop, or Orcus, the father of Maleficent?
Oooh! She might not be a relation exactly, but she definitely could work for them! Most likely Dickon as I feel like despite his lust for Esmerelda Frollo's greatest sin was Pride. Here’s my idea I’ve had for the Demon Court
Tumblr media
Chernabog, Vor and Voland are the Evil Royal Family basically
Then the Demon Court consists of :
Lord Dickon -Pride
Zhan Tiri- Envy
Arawn- Wrath
Koschei- Lust
Orcus -Greed
Coppelius/The Coachman-Gluttony
Mara-Sloth
Of course a few of these get bumped off over the years, and each time Rumplstilstkin tries to get into an open seat. He’s incredibly upset that he as the grandson of Chernabog isn’t awarded the honor of a demon lord.
