Hey, now wait just a minute-

I'll have you know Rootin' Tootin' is a time-honored staple of country vernacular. You can't just outlaw a whole multi-use word (did you know it can be a noun, verb, and adjective? That's just plain economical!) just because you don't like it.

That said, I'll make sure to introduce him to a few more of my more... interesting and colourful country idioms, just so there is some variety in there. I can sympathize with having to hear the same one over and over again. I've got one about skeletons getting frisky on a tin roof that I think he'll get a good laugh out of that I've been saving for the right moment. Looks like the time has come!

i want everyone to know that like. steve really has no culinary standards. he ate depression era food growing up, which meant not only was it all kinda bland and boiled, but there wasn’t a lot of options. his mother was a single mom and a laundress–she did not have a ton of excess income for them to spend on fancy food. she bought cheap cuts and they scraped by with what they could.

he went pretty much right into the army after his mom died–again, was still poor up until then, then lived off army food. which like, was probably fine while he was stateside, but going abroad, he had to put up with rations, and those were likely shit. but he’s cap at this point which means his body needs a lot of fuel to keep things going, so again–can’t be picky about what he’s eating. sure it tastes bad but if it keeps him going then that’s the important bit.

also his cooking really only extends to like. spaghetti and frozen meatballs. like, think basic college dorm cooking and you’ve got him. he can do eggs and knows his way around a microwave. could probably do a good sandwich.

waking up in the modern era and living with a billionaire didn’t really change the fact that steve will literally eat anything. it just means that when his bff makes shitty microwave grilled cheeses, steve’s first question isn’t, ‘what monstrosity hath hell unleashed’ and is instead
